About Me

I am a seasoned professional Cricketer with 25 years of on-field experience, currently in my final year of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sports. Throughout my career, I've gained strategic thinking, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of the business side of sports. My ongoing education further enhances my understanding of the sports industry.

Cricket has been a huge part of my life since childhood. I always wanted to play cricket at a professional level. That's the reason my dad took me to Bangalore from my hometown to pursue professional training. “I started playing young and want to build a career in it. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life,” Ballal said. (SALONEE MISTRY, 2019) So, after a few years of being in Bangalore, I started representing my state team in various age categories like under 13, under 15, under 17, and under 19. Then, I had to move to another state to explore more opportunities. It turned out to be a blessing because there I got the chance to captain the under 25 state team for two consecutive years. I really feel like that experience brought out the leader in me, and it was pretty rewarding too. I was named the performer of the year for two years straight, and I even earned a call-up to represent the senior state side.

Throughout this journey, I've cultivated essential skills such as effective communication, leadership skills, adaptability, and learning orientation. In addition to my on- field experience in cricket, I started on a coaching journey in India, dedicating five years to nurturing budding talents across various cricket clubs and associations. I served as a coach for the U19 district team and took on the role of selector for the U25 district team, I gained a diverse set of skills crucial for player development and talent identification. Through this experience, I gained invaluable expertise in leadership, mentorship, player assessment, and strategic decision-making.

I moved to Melbourne in 2021 to pursue a degree in sports business which would help me to gain practical knowledge for the business side of sports because my long-term aim is to open a cricket academy in my hometown. My ongoing education further helps me to understand the sports Industry. I am committed to continuously refining my expertise both on and off the field.  

Successfully obtained sponsorship from the well-known cricket brand 'Willou Cricket' in India, understanding personal branding and sponsorship relationship management. Signed a contract to promote their products on my social media account.

 I am currently a part-time team member at Woolworths - Armadale, this experience provides a strong foundation in maintaining a safe working environment and delivering exceptional customer service. Simultaneously, as an Assistant Coach at the Lahiru Thirimane Cricket Academy and my previous experience as an Assistant Coach at Endeavour Hills Cricket Club, has trained me to focus on player development, training, and creating positive team environments. Most importantly it helped me in understanding the local community.

Finding out more about who I am, where I've come from, and the skills I've acquired is a great way to develop a positive personality that will help me recognize myself as a competitive applicant and will also help the interviewer match my personality with the job role, to make a good first impression, particularly when you're introducing yourself.

Nail the opening with a confident, concise, and relevant response, and you will not have to spend the rest of the time making up for a bad start. (Williamson, 2023).

Reflection on my study performance till date –

Over the past 2 years, I have dedicated myself to academic excel, acquired plenty of sports business knowledge. The assessments, Presentation, class activities, conceptual teaching, encouragement to be creative, overall impacted my academic performance.

Expectations and Aspirations for the Internship:

For my coming internship journey, I have following goals in mind –

Related to Academic Studies: I wish to use my academic knowledge in real-world organization. I aspire to the opportunities as an intern to experience a practical extension of concepts I have studied here.

Networking and training: I aspire to join an organization who values in training and providing opportunities to use my skills along with interactions -with the professions.

Hey, do you know if there’s an official Will/Louis ship name? I go with “Willou” myself but idk if there’s a commonly used one.

I believe Willou is the most commonly accepted one! It's not like. The one I tag or anything because I always forget to tag ship names on my posts, fjfkfh, but. Uh. I think Willou is adorable and works perfectly as a name for their ship!!

All within my hands: prologue

Guess the character, I'm sure you'll know.

The day was perfect, sunny but not too hot with a soft breeze. Sat on a soft blanket laughing with your three suitors as you all snacked. Despite each of them fighting for your hand they had not broken their friendship, it seemed to only grow. Each of them with their admirable strengths.

Sampson had soft blonde locks and steely eyes. He was soft, kind and alway stuck to what he believed was right. Willous had hair as black as night and eyes as green as the sprouts in spring. He was well kept, calm and had a wealth of Knowledge while Kain had ginger hair and blue eyes. He was very easy going but had the strength that would be considered the stuff of legends.

As you chatted the wind picked up and storm clouds hovered in the distance. You were concerned how quickly the weather was coming in, the storm itself came out of nowhere.

“I’m sorry but I think we should return to our homes before we get caught in the storm” you apologized as you kept your eyes on the storm. Old folklore from your kingdom told that storms like this meant that a demon lurked not far away.

With a final hug from the three you got on top of your steed and rode towards the storm, hoping to arrive home before the storm hit. Beyond the trees a creature lurked. One that believed you were the answer to all his prayers.

The winds grew stronger, threatening to throw you off and lightning bolts flashed around you. The ground rumbled vigorously. However despite the weather you felt as if someone or something was watching you. The rain pelted hard against your skin. A shadow was cast above you, you looked to see a black dragon like creature swoop down and grabbed you in its claws. You let out a scream as the world below you became smaller. You had thought dragons were only myths, but you had been proven wrong. There was nothing you could do but watch the world pass you as the dragon took you to god knows where. Would you be eaten or held captive, you weren’t quite sure. You looked up to have a look at the beast and saw the bits of white among the black you saw before.

At this stage you were higher than the clouds, the winds were almost deafening. The dragon then dove down into the backend clouds. You could feel the moisture of the clouds over your skin as you simply tried to take your mind away from where you were.

As you emerged you saw a place that you could only assume was hell. Lava flowed across the backend plains. Trees were lifeless and dusted in charcoal. It seemed so lifeless, even the single tower stood tall seemed decayed by time. Before you even realised it you were thrown onto a large bed inside the tower.

2 :  Do I have any nicknames? I do ! “Willou”, “Toshi” and “Kat”  after rp characters of mine, and my mom calls me “Grenouille.” Yep. Totally. And does “Toshinourson” counts ? 8D

96: Can I cook? Enough to be able to survive on my own, but I am not a great cook (my best meals being Carbonara and chicken  with cream and mushrooms) and hate doing the dishes afterwards. I like baking, though !

Importance of personal marketing

Personal marketing has been an integral part of my life. Personal branding holds a significant role in today’s professional life. Basically, it involves a strategic way of showing your value to the world with unlimited access, through content and promotion of oneself to increase the visibility. As a professional cricketer every time I pitch with the clubs or association, google, social media has been a game changer to support my pitch. Resume and cover letter acts an integral part of introducing to potential employer, however presence on social media makes the employer more accessible to candidate’s profile. It allows candidates to stand out from a group of applicants with similar qualifications. It also helps in building credibility and trust.

 One concept that captures such personal marketing orientation is personal branding, which refers to “a strategic process of creating, positioning, and maintaining a positive impression of oneself, based in a unique combination of individual characteristics, which signal a certain promise to the target audience through a differentiated narrative and imagery” (Gorbatov et al.,2019).

Networking plays an important role in attaining good opportunities to collaborate and sponsorship. A good personal brand is the best way to achieve it. Fortunately, most of my cricket achievements and performance have been published or recorded on social media platforms like google, Instagram, Facebook and play cricket which gives me an opportunity to stand out from the crowd. I make sure to update my Instagram account with the content related my cricket to increase the engagement and my social media presence as a result I have Successfully obtained sponsorship from the well-known cricket brand 'Willou Cricket' from India, understanding personal branding and sponsorship relationship management. Signed a contract to promote their products on my social media account, acquiring experience in content development, competitive analysis, video editing, and strategic creation, scheduling, and posting of social media content.

it's kinda weird watching the red dress scene in me before you bc if you didn't read the book, you'd be like "that's a cute moment but why would she wear a huge scarf with it anyway??" instead of knowing that it's truly significant bc of lou letting herself be vulnerable and exposed in front of will when she has a fear of showing skin bc she was raped as a teen (and her sister told her it was her fault for having been drinking and wearing revealing clothing).
