AKA: literally click any ao3 username, "bookmarks" should appear towards the top of the resulting page. You can then voyage into the additionally wonderful waters of filtering by length, "recommended", fandom, etc.

Also: if the fic you like is in collections, try checking them out, especially if the title appeals to you. Can be a great way to find essentially a fic playlist.

#this is not about a girl this is about a COMPUTER VIRUS #specifically a nematode #which is a virus that attempts to do good and remove another virus #Welchia is an example of a nematode which was potentially more damaging than the virus it was trying to protect users against #namely that it was very widespread and infected BOTH the ACTUAL US NAVY and the ACTUAL US STATE DEPARTMENT #causing significant delays for both government entities #but it did uninstall the blaster virus and patch the vulnerability blaster exploited!#anyway #Welchia won’t infect you unless you have like. the worst luck imaginable. idk if it’s even still considered active since it’s been so long #even at the time Blaster and Welchia were active; most systems which were even infectable were using OS that were out of date #or went unpatched. simply because attempting to update them could break the programs that the computers were primarily using #for example: my local dentist office has an X-RAY program that clearly wasn’t designed for Windows 11 #the most recent OS they use to run it is windows 7 #even now plenty of restaurants use special embedded formats of windows XP for their point of sale systems even though they’re out of date #because updating them would be hellish and would put the point of sale out of commission for a while #government systems which have specialized programs which are the sole thing the computers are used for would have no incentive to update #because they have to run 24/7/365 and any delay or outage (say by an update to a new OS) could put them seriously behind #any system which cannot pause long enough to be updated or would potentially seriously lose usefulness if it was updated is extra vulnerable #so like. your Windows 11 computer is fine. especially since Welchia has an auto-kill switch when the date changes to 2004 #but at the time it was destructive simply because installing the security patches and interrupting programs/restarting to do so was bad #for computers which needed to never stop working #namely: the things that society quickly crumbles without #luckily Welchia didn’t disrupt the way Wannacry did

i ran out of room in the tags but i want to make it known that this was only a small percentage of the things that got predicted. it's my turn to write a chapter now and i want my character to get a tattoo of 9 knives down her back bc it's a tarot reference but i'm afraid of what that might cause so i have not written said chapter. im literally just scared

Shout out to the day i killed the queen via AO3, legendary (name of the fanfic is jigens sick adventure, yes it is a sickfic)

#i have this one story ive been writing with someone else for almost ten years now #we switch turns writing chapters #it used to be a hunger games fanfic technically but we moved it out of the hunger games universe and kept our beloved ocs #so now they're in a original dystopian universe #and we keep predicting political events and i keep predicting personal traumas and physical health problems #like we started writing it when we were 11 so we were like hehe what if we made president Snow really loud and dumb but still really evil #and then there was the year twenty sixt--#that's just one example #and then there's my character who's perspective i write from #she was partly based off me but i've realised a few years ago she's just who i want to be #so it makes sense prediction wise if i wrote her to be tough and funny and unfazed in terrible circumstances #i would uhhhhh start dissociating heavily two years after i created her and be so disconnected emotionally that anything could be funny #listen i was actively being abused and i needed a way to cope #and recently i've been writing her as someone who can occasionally have an emotion #and wow look at that i am learning emotions again #but what's WEIRD #WHATS FUCKED UP #IS THE PERSONAL UNCONTROLLABLE TRAUMAS I KEEP PREDICTING WITH THIS CHARACTER #three years ago #after we took the ocs out of thg universe #i was like #giving my character habits that come from traumas that were in the new universe #so my character has this habit of routinely checking doors and windows especially very late at night #my character can't sleep so she just gets up and checks windows #WELL #LAST YEAR #SOMEONE BREAKS INTO THE WINDOW A FEW INCHES FROM MINE AND RAIDS A NEIGHBOURS APARTMENT (the neighbors are safe)#I GET PTSD FROM THIS EVENT ESPECIALLY BC THE DUDE KEPT COMING BACK TO THE WINDOW TO BE A CREEP #AND WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO INSTEAD OF SLEEPING NOW #CHECK THE FUCKING DOORS AND WINDOWS

"I'm not hypomanic," I say at midnight after spending a day downing a huge coffee, energy drink, and soda, on the first day in months I got to experience sunshine

#i normally sleep by 10/11 bcuz i have to wake up early for my unfortunate adult job #but now its midnight and i have both the energy and the drive to stay awake #i really want to stay up all night again. its my favorite #its fifty degrees out right now at midnight. i have my window open and its comfortable. if not a bit warm #and when i got my huge coffee this morning they gave me a free energy drink that they made to take a picture of #and then i had a soda with dinner. dont tell my psychiatrist #my psychiatrist is right about a lot of things. my caffeine intake is one of them. unfortunately i am a problem #so we'll continue telling her i only have a morning coffee #i get to see her tomorrow!! i have to tell her my meds are making me feel like shit #i hate meds but unfortunately my mental illness will murder me if i dont find a med or two #fortunately we're heading into an easier season to be mentally ill in. when theres sunshine and i can go outside the illness eases up #so it would be less dangerous to be figuring out meds if we decide thats necessary. i also get to tell her that im moving!#a couple sessions ago i had a breakdown and told her i actually hadnt been taking my meds for quite awhile and my home life was bad #so we got me back on my meds and she gave me some tips to get out bcuz tbh half my mental problems come from living with my family #so i get to tell her I'm leaving!! yippee! but also that my meds are murdering me. oh no #also sorry this is completely unrelated but i just realized its been twice now that ive been dating someone snd thought all was fine #and then like a week later they leave me very suddenly. i figured this out cuz someone liked a personal post from three-ish years ago #i was talking about how my then-gf wss helping me move and she was so sweet and i loved her so much #and then a week after that she told me she felt trapped and didnt see a future with me. wild! that wasnt her breaking up with me btw #she seemed legit surprised when i broke up with her after that. but it happened again with my recent gf!#i told my therapist we were great and then a week later she left. but tbh in both of those scenarios looking back im not surprised #the first. i had to beg while crying to help me move. she was actively an obstacle to me moving. and we had a shit anniversary right before #the second had been checked out for awhile and i was considering breaking up with her too. but it seems like all will be fine #and then suddenly it wont be. weird! i think i will become a nun. but anyway! def proba hypomanic #but i dont care because thats the only way i get to feel happy!!!!!!!
