Y'all I just finished the Story Mode and all endings!
I'll talk about them all eventually, in the meantime, I did say I was gonna write a fic about Tomas ending but with that one little twist!
Well it is coming together! So please, have a peek:
"How old are you?" I demand.
And the question seems to have angered him, he frowns and refuses to answer. Now is not the time to grow bold, kid.
"When I ask you a question, you better answer. How old are you, lad?"
"Twenty."
“Twenty?” Ha! Ha! "In your dreams, kid! You must be what? 15? 16 perhaps?"
"Have you ever seen a 16 year old??" He barks. Oh, it seems I've struck a nerve! But at least I got an answer: "I'm eighteen."
Bullshit one all the same. "Right. Have an ID to prove?"
The kid scoffed at that, he is growing bold. "Yeah, I’ll give myself the trouble to put on a mask and also carry an ID in my pocket. Sounds about right!"
Sarcasm now? Huh.
Though I must admit, he's got me there... "Good point." But still, better safe than sorry. "What year were you born? Quickly.”
“2005.” He answers immediately, so most likely not a lie.
2005? Just turned 18 then, or did he? “What month?”
“March.” He replies with annoyance. “Want the day and time too? Zodiac sign perhaps?”
“Sure. And perhaps a name too.”

It's the first time I write Smoke as the narrator! It was fun!🩶
Also, Hanzo being a sassy little shit!💛

Sometimes I think about how when I first went to the pre law advisor to switch from pre med to pre law, she asked me why I wanted to switch, took one look at me and was really condescending like "oh it's because you're into social justice isn't it" and then I was like "no actually I just enjoy reading court documents and am one of like the 20 people that watch cspan". We've been chill ever since but everytime I see her I think about how I convinced her I was committed by how insanely boring my hobbies and interests are

random but i was just thinking about how my roommate (hes also my best friend of over 10 years so the trust lvl is almost as high as to my sister) managed to ease me into liking a food that i connected with childhood trauma for years -- it makes me think of kaveh def having haithams trust like that as well, like. i just can see it so well how the scribe immediately shoots anyone down who offers him a plate of smth he absolutely dislikes bc he tried it once and it upset him. kaveh tho? kaveh is respectful of haithams dislikes ofc but one day hes munching away at smth he prepared for himself and mindlessly offers haitham some and he tries it without a fuss and you can see him freeze for a second, both of them mildly surprised and even more so when haitham goes "its good"
in short, haitham refuses any foods he doesnt like regarding taste or texture but when kaveh offers him to try hes willing to do so bc he trusts kaveh sm (in most matters) and ends up liking it bc the way kaveh prepares it makes it bearable
(when theyre out for dinner and kaveh offers him some there, haitham refuses again bc he only eats it when kaveh cooks it)

Sorry just a mini rant bc genuinely appalled at the way some of my coworkers talk about not eating during work. Like buddy we're working CRM. It is a very labour intensive job. It's July and frequently over 30°C. The way you talk about not eating anything til dinner (and sometimes not anything beyond a granola bar all day) is terrifying. Obviously money for food can be tight (I'm feeling it rn) but I've spoken with some of them and they have and can afford food and they almost seem to be bragging about making it through the day on nothing. You are going to collapse! You should be eating!
So yeah my coworkers may not listen to me but to any fellow archaeologists please remember to eat! Even if you're staying hydrated that won't be enough if you're also not eating properly for days. Please take care of yourself in the field.
Everyone should be taking breaks to eat, hydrate, reapply sunscreen, and stretch. Yes, even if you don't feel like you need to. Yes, even if other people are "working through it." Toughing it out is not a badge of honor. It is dangerous, and unnecessarily so.
Just because you can go without doesn't mean you should. Your body is not suddenly the exception to the biological necessities of eating and drinking. Keeping your body nourished is part of long term care for your health. No work is worth shortchanging that.
This applies to all work, not just archaeological excavation. If you're reading this and thinking I totally support this for everyone else, not for me though THIS IS FOR YOU. Taking breaks sets a precedent. Because even if you don't need the break, someone else does, and if you take yours, you're contributing to a work environment where that person can take theirs. There's a reason unions have fought for breaks in pretty much every industry.
