This is one of the scenes that I adore SO much. You can tell that both Suou and Sakura made the decision to shield Nirei subconsciously. This is so important because usually Sakura would charge into the battlefield and leave Nirei in the care of Suou since he was aware that Suou could do that with ease.

The look of surprise on their faces when they saw the other doing the same thing is so priceless. I think at that moment they really realised how much they had grown on each other.

okay. i havent shut up about the greek myth aspects of Simon's story and i wont stop now. At first it was a statue of Persephone in the garden, with it's head replaced to be Betty, giving the implication that Betty is the Persephone to Simon's Hades, and it was Simon's status as an antiquarian. and now we've gotten Simon being a huge nerd and bringing up Theseus completely unprompted (so real)

a bit of context in case you need it, Theseus was one of those greek "legendary Heroes" (Achilles, Heracles, etc.), and previously King of Athens, but had managed to dodge most bad things that happen to Greek heroes. he was just stupid and i guess they took pity on him.

The Ship of Theseus or "Theseus' Paradox", which I'd imagine all of tumblr knows by now, but if you don't, is the question on whether if a ship, specifically Theseus', is still the same ship after having all of its parts replaced exactly. To me this makes for such an obvious connection to Simon. Simon's story factors around identity, first and foremost. (yknow. "I Remember You" and all that?) The concept of not knowing what you are fundamentally was originally Ice King's thing, as his previous life as Simon was essentially history. But now that's being brought to Simon. and Simon has the lucidity to process what that means for him.

actually incredibly funny to me that ranpos entire thing centres on how his intelligence is not because of an ability or any other great thing, its just him. hes entirely, completely, inarguably human. and Yet, when it comes to dazai, so many people are Desperate that there just Has to be another explanation. his intelligence cant just be that hes unusual, no it must be a marker of separation, of difference so great it disallows the reality of his humanity.

my roommate has a running theory that Tsukishima isn't even close to above average intelligence and it's merely circumstantial to the fact that all his friends are jocks that make it look otherwise. I feel like Aimilios would also have his own little ‘resentment period’ towards Dusknoir when he returns years later. But not in the same way Ribbon’s secretly berates and spits venom when Celebi/Grovyle have their backs turned.

Aimilios’s aura sensing was the biggest double-edged sword for the riolu. Not only because of how he was able to tell when Dusknoir was lying, and turning a blind eye, but also how the aura pup was able to tell when he was being genuine. When he was enjoying his time in the present with them, even as ‘The Great Dusknoir’. When he consistently fretted over him and Ribbons. When he laughed with them while ordering drinks from Spinda’s. When he held back during training sessions—

When he held back during their fight at the temple.

Aimilios… knew for the longest time. That Dusknoir was pulling his punches, but never spoke a word of it to Ribbons. This only led to the fighting-type dealing with the haunting realization that the Gripper Pokémon could have done away with them so easily. Every time they were alone. When he trained them. When Aimilios felt vulnerable enough to sleep near him.

He could’ve killed them at any given moment.

So when he suggests that they talk alone on the beach. (The very same one he gave the Riolu false hope to of being ‘friends’, lying to his face.) Aimilios brokenly asks in the most hushed tone of voice why he stayed close. Even as Aimilios’s instincts, tell him, urge him, to run from Dusknoir. He silences the desperate pleas from his jittery body. Forcing himself to stay long enough to get the answer he wants— needs.

The answer to why. Why Dusknoir could have easily avoided them once he knew who Ribbons was. Or why he even indulged in them. Why he protected them as vigilantly as he did, if they were only a means to an end. Why he looked astonished whenever the small fighting-type showcased his sharp wit towards the elder ghost. Why he told Aimilios how proud he was whenever he landed a hit during their training. Why Dusknoir looked genuinely upset whenever he patched up his wounds.

Why Dusknoir listened to all of his small retellings of his journey with Ribbons with endearment. Why Dusknoir held him closer when he accidentally fell asleep on the gargantuan wraith. Why he held his paw whenever they traversed Treasure town together. Why Aimilios felt like his life was over staring down the Wood Gecko with his blood stained claws— before Dusknoir saved him. Why the wraith was the one who even bothered healing him, when the fatal wounds from Grovyle could have just—

Just. why why why— it would’ve made hating him so much easier if he didn’t do all of that. Aimilios would be just as resentful as Ribbons— but he isn’t. Because the smallest, desperatest part of him still missed Dusknoir. (And an even smaller part hoped he felt the same.)

So, he begs Dusknoir, to be honest with him. For once in his life.

And when he fails to respond in time (due to Aimilios sounding like he’s on the verge of tears. Unable to find the right words to not break the dam—)

“Aimilios, I—“

“You should’ve let Grovyle finish me off in the Azelf’s lake.”

Dusknoir eye only widens. Unable to look in the Riolu’s direction in fear of seeing his torn face. Yet his eye betrays him when it slowly trails towards the Aura Pokémon. Who’s already facing away— black, mittened paws covering the mess of tears spilling from his eyes.

“It—“ The aura pup’s breath hitches “I-It would’ve hurt less than this.”

okay this is not cleanly any of the prompts from the fic ask game? but my proposal for how I'd identify your anon fic. I think a disarmd hallmark is really living in the tension between instinctive kinky impulse and metacognition/potentially unpleasant self-awareness? I think there's a line somewhere in Dwelling that's like "sex usually felt regular to do but then excruciating to talk about," and, yeah. yeah! the potential gap between what kink feels like to do and to define!!

[fic ask game] this is the most interesting message in the world, i've been thinking about it all morning and i almost don't want to reply right now because i just want to keep chewing on it forever. god damn!!! the way you've read me to absolute rights but also articulated everything in the most brilliant way and put words to things that are extremely accurate but i wouldn't have been able to describe myself.

living in the tension between instinctive kinky impulse and metacognition/potentially unpleasant self-awareness this is so so so so so so interesting, and you're right, that's absolutely how i write. i have read stories or blog posts or whatever by authors who really enjoy the intellectualization of kink - and in what is entirely uncharacteristic of me, because i like intellectualzing absolutely everything else, i just never have any interest in trying to apply reason or causality to things involving sex or kink. i don't know if this came through at all, but one thing i thought about when writing bodyworks was never having the story/narrative suggest that carlos "needed" to be spanked - but that's a whole other topic so i won't start rambling about it now. the point is, yes, exactly what you've said, i totally do write kink coming from the instinctive horny place contrasted with moments of uncomfortable lucidity. i feel like you've given me such a gift with this ask, because i've often wondered if there are strong themes that come through in my writing and i genuinely feel like i've learned new things from you, <3

re the section in dwelling:

The thing about doing kinky things was that they didn’t really feel that kinky at the time, usually. Like Dylan had wore all of his ex-girlfriend’s clothes once, including her panties and bra, and it hadn’t really felt like much at the time, just kind of a funny thing to do, but then way afterward, one night when he was at a party, someone said something about crossdressing and he realized that he had done that. i love that you pointed that out because i really do think that's my actual thesis statement on kink, and as you've said it's shown up a lot of times in various things i've written. (also, i ended up rereading some, and i really do love that story. i was actually thinking last month about how much fun i had writing absolute idiots in hprf and that's what inspired the lando pov in taking care, haha, i was like, oh, i wouldn't mind playing around in the mind of an idiot again.) although i obviously talk and write about kink and sex a lot, so not something i actually find excruciating.

so i completely agree with everything you've said and will start off by saying, yes, for sure, you're absolutely correct. For me, the story i actually thought of as being like Dwelling was Green Thumb. In that -- so for Dwelling, my premise was what if the ot3 had the failiest kinky sex, like originally i had imagined them doing like full suspension bondage and being the worst you can be while not actually putting anyone's life at risk. like just endless of dylan and mitch bickering while connor is in a situation. so in my head, that was in the domestic-flavoured kink realm, like obviously dwelling was literally curtain fic (god i love tropes so much) just written insanely because that was fun for me. and i had Green Thumb in my head in the similar category of domestic-flavoured kink. humans in their homes doing fun weird stuff in fun weird ways. Perhaps a garnish of dynamic play, but you'd probably call the "active" characters tops as opposed to doms.

Whereas in Monaco LN Bodyworks, i thought of it instead as kink-flavoured kink and the dynamic aspect was the primary thing i was thinking about/orienting the fic around. my dom lando agenda, let me tell you all about it. where dwelling was about relational security, to me lando and carlos already had such a strong foundation to their friendship that bodyworks kind jumped in with that already established and was then more about carlos's journey of self-awareness/self-acceptance with a lens or commentary more on masculinity/stereotypical gender roles. so like security in self, about self. (vs. the idiot op3 being actually very capable of doing weird sex stuff, happily, but not being able to talk about where they were going to put their clothes WHEN THEY ALREADY LIVED TOGETHER).

As well, though, all the other things you've mentioned - intimacy without security (and vulnerability in general), not-talking, shame either as background radiation or full nuclear meltdown (oh my god i'm so obsessed with how you framed that, YOUR INSIGHT) are all my favourite things to play around. so i totally see what you're saying in terms of the linkages!!!

I usually don't post wips so openly like this but I have an idea.

What if canon Ace, after marineford, is isekaied to an old-fashioned, coloniser England? He wakes up confused like what the God-fuck happened and it just so happens that he ends up in a noblefamily's courtyard where he meets their youngest son who's his age who reminds him a bit too much of someone very familiar. The guy's name is Sabo too.

As of writing this, the fic is still a nebulous mess in my head but here's what I have.

Ace's immediately interested. The moment he went up to the study to ask for help, everyone just screams how indecent he is because he's shirtless and very attractive. The women blush, which Ace, being a greasy player to some extent, doesn't mind, but then there's Sabo who blushes in the same way. The neurons started activating in his mind. Ace never did it with guys too often but hey, he nearly died! He'll figure it out! Let's Fucking Go!

Sabo's also interested in this sense, "H-how rude! Who's this naked imbecile (Ace's just wearing his iconic shorts and boots)? Is he mad? In this weather? (looks down. Blushes immediately) That's a rather... large... scar........ What kind of w-warrior is he? Where is he from? Roman soldiers were known for being handsome, is he... (he can't believe himself for looking at his tits again) Why is he looking at me? His hair is too long for a man. (Sabo sees his smoky black eyes once more and turns away, out of breath) He's the Devil himself. I refuse to give in to temptation. I r-refuse to sin. I refuse!"

It doesn't end there, though. This hunk of a man gets thrusted to Sabo's care because no one trusts women to keep it in their pants if the Portgas D. Ace with his infinite, maxxed out rizz is right here. Sabo wants to cut his hair but couldn't bring himself to because it's just too beautiful. He simply cuts the fringe and dry-ends off before forcing Ace to shower and change into more appropriate clothing, aka this multi-layered suit that Ace wore wrongly.

Sabo couldn't stop himself from laughing. Ace pouted so much like a grumpy cat. Sabo started coughing and wiped his eyes.

"Why'd you stop?" Ace said. "Laugh more. I don't mind 'cause you're so cute."

Sabo finally sobered up. What was he doing? Acting like some lovesick fool. He never acted that way towards his own fiancé...

He didn't say anything as he helped Ace wear it properly. He couldn't help but feel he's doing something wrong. Ace looked so uncomfortable but it seemed that he understood why he's wearing this. Sabo hid his smile when Ace sneezed. Maybe he wasn't so bad.

When he's done, Sabo thought... Well, Ace is still handsome but he felt like he had taken something away from him, the thing that made him so special to begin with: his freedom. There's some spite in Sabo's grimace.

Sabo never had the chance to even dream of freedom.

I love the touch of reality in episode 5.

Akin is an actor with a decade of experience so it's very natural for him to be proud, confident and a little arrogant cause he definitely earned it. In the first scene in that dream like state, we saw his inner feelings. He, just like everyone who's at the top of their game would feel the same way as him, that innate fear of being replaced. He knew that he's not always going to be number 1 and he even prepared himself for it just like what he said in that interview flashback but it still stung when it actually happened. He still found it hard to accept that he lost the title he's so very proud of. Found it hard to look at Jin without feeling hurt and anger.

Jin and the other hand doesn't really care about anything. All he want is to be able to stand beside Akin. To be someone who's worth standing beside Akin. Akin is his North Star that shines brightly down on him. he doesn't want to be just another person in the dark looking up at the sky to see the stars, he wants to be closer, to be one of the stars right beside Akin. He probably did not expect that to do that, he will need to kick Akin out of the number 1 spot. The pressure of their careers is starting to crawl in between them.

I'm very interested with Ford's line. Though it is true that personal and professional matters doesn't affect one another, it is also true that not everyone will see it that way. There will be someone who will not accept their relationship and they'll probably protest about it up until they die. The fact that they included his line despite the negative feedback they will get from the audience made me realize that it really does happen in Thai entertainment industry. As a foreigner who loves BL, Thailand for me is like a safe haven for all LGBTQ+ people, I did not expect that even there, this kind of treatment is still rampant. It made me realize why BL actors are limited to BL roles and even if they get non-bl, it's a role that their own company produces, not because another company seek them out for it. I wonder how they will tackle this topic. Will we get something like Po? Sacrificing his entire career just to be with Thame? Like Thame who risked his dream just to be with Po and Mars?

I feel like Donnie rarely learns his lessons about how his behavior affects people. And I think that’s a lot because he’s extremely babied by his family when it comes to emotions. Not in the “protecting his feeling”way of babying but in the sense he’s not trusted in emotional situations. Mikey tried to teach him in the episode “Breaking Purple” but it didn’t really work. Again because he kind of being babied about it. Mikey’s whole “seminar” came off as extremely condescending. What really changed Donnie’s mind was seeing Sheldon in danger and a legitimate heart to heart. I know I’m kinda just rambling at this point but I just don’t think telling him he’s wrong works because he just takes it as an insult rather than constructive criticism.

mmmm soft disagree. i dont really think they baby him at all. there are several instances of raph shouting at him or even swatting him, and they're very quick to call him out when he does things that actually upset or anger them (+ yeah, he mostly learns his lessons through SEEING the consequences of his bad decisions. in smart lair shelldon was hacked because he programmed him to favor him in the first place, in mind meld he comes face to face with how much he does actually miss and need his family as they are-- and i've talked extensively about donnie's gifts and how people are too harsh to him there and seen several posts about it already so im not gonna yap about it again). they are comedically rude to each other about these things, and donnie's tendency to shirk responsibility is contradicted by his swiftness to self-correct in literally every other way. just because he doesn't verbally acknowledge it or jokes around it doesn't mean he doesn't do it.

doctor feelings is designed to be condescending and i think that's just how mikey is, really. he'd do it to leo or raph too, and he does act similar to draxum who is a grown man and his psuedo-father-- i think its more reflective of mikey as a person than how he sees donnie. when donnie is actually being alarmingly hurtful to other people, it's the result of him not feeling heard; that's usually what it always is, with the exception of breaking purple i suppose. i cannot pathologize that outside of him being a neurotic teen parent who doesn't know how to act because of his own daddy issues lmao
