Toys in the Catalog

I had mentioned Eddie looking at his number and being "stretched thin" so I thought I'd put together all of the catalog images and see if the numbers mean anything to me.

Starting here. Poppy looks dead eyed in this image, while the others have very happy faces. You can't say it is the toy, necessarily, since the others look happy. She seems to have a paper tail and paper feathers on her head. Her feet are super cute.

If you haven't seen one of these, this is how it works. More of a science toy than anything. This one is a bit scarier looking.

Poppy is the same price as Eddie, while the others are a bit higher. I can envision how these toys work by the design. Super cool designs.

We've looked at this a couple of times. Eddie appears to be checking out his price. Wally and Frank pillows are quite a bit more expensive than the other toys. Is this framing them as the most popular? They are more than an entire jack-in-the-box. Barnaby I have mentioned before, because it is another bisected Barn. I think we will see him in pieces before this is over.

This is framed as gifts for your home, like Wally was looking at for Home. The cuckoo clock here is home, and is featured prominently in Eddie's breakdown in Commercials. As we watch Eddie unravel, we see an above view of the clock (and I haven't found anything else in that image, not for a lack of trying) as well as a straight on view, which shows the clock moving, but not smoothly or in time. It starts and stops, pauses longer than you think it should. This says that Wally pops out instead of a cuckoo, though Poppy might have been more traditional. We don't get to see Wally come out of the clock.

The clock reads 3:30. I don't see anything that would designate day or night. This is quite a bit more than most things, because it's a complex clock.

Then we have a tea set, which seems to be the big image it is giving us about Poppy. Doilies and tea. Over and over. We will have to remember. Wally does tap his tea cup at Poppy's in a hidden video. Still trying to figure it out, but they keep showing it to us.

Finally, a tree skirt. It's expensive, but those things always are. I love the design, and all the neighbors. We see this design in a video or still somewhere else, maybe? I will keep an eye out. This features all the neighbors as gingerbread men as well as has cut outs of their symbols. I think it is odd that Home is by Eddie and not Wally, but maybe they are mixing it up.

Final page, with records. On the holiday records: one for $5.89 or all for $15.89. There are five records below on this page and it says "continued on next page," so that is not all. All of the records that we have seen so far are here. A was in the exhibit, as well as the first ad with the missing item. We saw B in the exhibit, and it was on the record player on the Merchandise page; it plays the Alice in Wonderland bit. C is Halloween, D was some of the earliest merch, and E is mentioned, but we are told that we have part of the audio, not the full record. Generally, when it says that, we shouldn't trust it. Something to consider.

Presumably, there are more records. The records are Marlo.

The price on these seem pretty standard and in line with the rest of the catalog. The single and Painting with Wally are cheaper, we assume because it is a shorter album. On the pricing generally, we are seeing a lot of ".89" but I assume this is for the same reason things are priced at the upper end, to be smaller than a dollar increase while practically being at the next dollar amount. Eddie and Poppy's toys are the only ones at $1.89. Given that they are both bullied characters, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of connection there.

One thing I didn't mention, is that Marlo is listed on this page, but it isn't elsewhere. I think I mentioned during a post on "Commercials" that there is a different company for those toys. Pretty sure Marlo did these records and the phones, at least. The other company is named "The You-Won't-Believe-It Company." They did the Wally Ball And Cup. They have other items in the video, I think. I noticed and wondered if there was something going on there, because we have only seen Marlo so far.

Heeseung's second favourite thing in the whole world is to kiss you.

When you're both home after a tiring day, just like now, and he has you in his arms and you're just so close, he could die a happy man. He loves when you smile and giggle in the middle of a kiss. He loves when you play with his hair with so much love. He loves that he can feel every bit of you, making it so real. There's not a single flaw he could pinpoint - everything felt like heaven when you were kissing him.

However, that still is his second most favourite thing. The first one is when the lack of breathing creates some distance between you two, and he can see you so closely.

Actually, no, that's not it. As much as he loves to admire you so up close, he prefers to look into your eyes.

It's cliché, and he might never admit it out loud, but your eyes never failed to hypnotise him. Every time you'd look at him, looking like you could tell all the secrets he held in himself, he got weak. He could feel himself slowly losing it all, one step to just giving up and dedicating his entire being to you.

He left his heart to you, and he just wished you'd accept it.

But then you smile at his silence and awestruck gaze, and he feels that it might be reciprocal. Maybe he's alive because, although he gave his heart to you, he has your heart instead. And it works for him.

"What's going on inside that mind of yours?" you asked in a whisper, afraid to disrupt the silence.

There were so many things Heeseung could say to answer you. He was thinking about how lucky he was to have you with him now. He was thinking about how many songs he could write just with your eyes as inspiration. He was thinking about how he couldn't properly think whenever you were around. He was thinking about you, you and you. Always you.

For sure, there were a lot of possible answers he could have given you. Instead, he pulls you closer, with a hand in your cheek, and kisses you once more, hoping to initiate the cycle all over again. And by the way you kissed him back, he believes you accepted his reply.

A relationship with Riki feels like dating your best friend. He is so playful around you that unconsciously, he will bring out your inner child. He will make you show the best side of yourself.

He will force you to do TikTok dances with him, and when he comes across a new trend, he will persuade you to do it with him, and after a lot of kisses and praying, you will accept. As the perfectionist dancer Riki is, he will point out that you are doing a step wrong. The good thing is that he will patiently help you master the moves flawlessly. The problem comes when you start recording, and somehow something will go wrong, and I am not talking about the dancing part, but I am talking about falling and injuring a leg or the phone falling and the screen breaking into million pieces.

He playfully pokes your cheeks at unexpected moments throughout the day. He understands that you might find it slightly bothersome, but deep down, he knows you secretly enjoy it. However, if he ever notices someone else, other than him, poking your cheeks, he becomes protective and possessive.

Aggression is his love language (on the good side dw). He will jump and attack you with his love without a second thought, especially if he needs your attention, which is ALWAYS.

Your closet is full of his hoodies and long T-Shirts he has been giving you throughout your relationship. He thinks that is a way to keep a piece of himself within you. The same thing happens the other way around. He steals all of your stuff, sometimes just for the simple pleasure of annoying you. So you know that whenever he comes to your home, he does not leave empty-handed.

He will talk all day about you to his sisters and his mom. You are part of the fam now.

He will randomly spam you with texts and phone calls because he is bored.

Your bed is undeniably his most cherished spot on Earth. If he had his way, he would happily remain there all day, only leaving when you insist on going to practice. Whenever he visits you, he spends the whole afternoon in your bed watching series or playing video games with you. He will often say that he loves your bed because of the soft mattress, but in reality, it is because the bed sheets smell just like you, and that brings him that sense of home and comfort that no other place can offer.

He probably has you saved in his phone as “MY ugly little rat” + a funny picture of you

He tends to develop an intense obsession with a particular video game for about a week or so. He insists you download and play the game with him until he falls asleep. He often wins against you, and when he does, he starts jumping and shouting around the place, for later to be chilling on the sofa, saying how he does not overreact to winning because he is a cool guy. Although you mainly end up losing, it's not necessarily because you lack skill, but rather because you willingly let him win. In your eyes, nothing is more beautiful than seeing Riki with a bright smile on his face.

do you mind sharing a bit more about your analysis of heart,,,

i'd love to!! (i assume this is about the heart critique piece i did a few months ago, but please correct me if im wrong!)

in terms of the "a critique on the treatment of hearts characterization" piece, i wanted to visually explore some frustrations i have had with how the fanbase seems to fall into some unfortunate patterns when it comes to hearts character.

frequently, i see heart infantilized - this either comes across as him being a kicked dog unable to help himself because he is too weak, a baby angel who did nothing wrong, or a feral gremlin child. i think flattening his character down to any/all of these is, for lack of a better word, a bit problematic?

; one reason being it just defeats the idea of emotions being a visceral, intense thing. heart is meant to represent emotion in its purest form; i feel woobifying him takes away from that concept because it shows having emotions as being inherently weaker or less mature. i think a lot of people kinda forget HMS aren't just tv show characters. they represent greater concepts that near everyone feels and feels uniquely - theyre more sensitive than your typical character. thats not saying treating them as characters is bad! everyone relates to them differently because they are so personal, they make them their own and i think thats really awesome!! ; but boiling them down to these really generic tropes and making heart a baby kinda defeats the idea that emotions are a real, visceral, multifaceted concept. ; another reason i think it can be problematic is that it sometimes unintentionally comes across really ableist? a lot of these 'fandom-y' tropes are already rooted in ableism in some way, which is bad on its own, but theres also the important addition that heart is frequently portrayed as blind.

ive seen people time and time again fall into stereotypes with heart that his blindness makes him weak/helpless/childish. truthfully I dont think people do this intentionally, but its still internalized ableism showing up. i recognize that a lot of the people who woobify heart tend to be on the younger side, so they dont really recognize that theyre flattening him down like that- not out of malicious ignorance, but because theyre kids who havent really had the life experience yet to grasp the full concepts of the album or realize they might be implying harmful stereotypes; that doesn't necessarily mean its okay, but i think its just them being uneducated cause theyre kids and they have yet to learn that stuff. ; all that being said, im not trying to police people on how they portray characters. im not any authority on this fandom/album by any means imaginable - im just a fan like everyone else here! like i said before, characterizing HMS is not inherently a bad thing at all ! its fun, and its what this fanbase is built on in the first place! its so great that everyone can interpret and relate to HMS so personally, i think chonny really hit it off with the concept for the album and the execution is stellar! seeing all the fanart and different interpretations of it and the characters is such a beautiful thing, no matter if its joking, lighthearted, or deep! ; at the end of the day, theres no wrong way to interpret this album, and theres no wrong way to characterize heart. more than anything that critique piece was built up frustration turned to a call to action for people to stop and think deeply for a moment about how they portray heart - to open eyes if someone might be unknowingly flattening or adding problematic ideas to their characterizations. and to just be mindful of that going forward! 💜

This is my bias...

Help me figure out what's happening here... is this the big dick energy I was talking about or just an optical illusion with the mirror?

Jimin was relaxed and seems like he has certain specific things he wants to accomplish and he's going after it in his usual Jimin-like way. He laughed when talking about what he's been doing and why he's not come to see us live. He said "Do you think I would be doing nothing?" and laughed:

Our Jiminie, through and through.

He addressed his busted up knuckles several times during the live.

Ok, here me out... if he's dabbling in martial arts again... what if Jimin is practicing breaking cinderblocks... because I feel like there are a few blockheads out there that need breaking...yes? But seriously, what if...?

One of the things that I love about Jimin is his self-awareness, his humility and his unpretentiousness. About attending the Dior event prior to this live he expresses how he views himself:

Nervous amongst people in those circles, he says he's a little uncertain and awkward. Though he might feel out of place because of how he views himself, we all know the impact he brings whenever he (or any of the other members) makes an appearance at events like this, no matter how briefly. Fans just want to see him.

One of the things he spoke at length on was how he's been assessing himself, saying it as if stepping back and evaluating what he was doing in a "cold" way, as in clinically critiquing himself.

He said he was able to learn a lot from his Face album activities and promotions and he is improving the way he does things from now on.

He felt like there were a lot of areas where he was lacking and instead of just working on fixing this or that, his mindset is to "start from scratch".

Looking back at it, the excuses are not acceptable to him... to say he was lazy and didn't practice enough or that equipment malfunctioned.

He heard the antis and the criticisms. I personally want to smash their heads in two but I digress with my violent little thoughts.

In order to feel confident while performing onstage he wants to change the way he approaches things.

Overall, Jimin seems like he's got his shit together. He knows there's a time crunch...

But because he's re-evaluating himself, its taken a long time and I think he's still working on it.

Other things he's mentioned during this live: he's composing new music, shooting a few things, working out, studying English.

He said if he doesn't force himself to take lessons he won't do it. Same, Jimin, same.

He mentioned that he goes out alone in the middle of the night to run along the Han River and when he does he sees Namjoon:

There was other stuff on his mind but he wouldn't share it.

He's been thinking deeply about his future. He is facing his own Chapter 2 (they all are and collectively we are calling this BTS Chapter 2) and he says starting anew is not easy. He's thought a lot about it and still considering how he wants to live his life and future.

You can understand more of his attitude as soon as someone says "Don't forget there are many people cheering for you, Jimin."

His reply is: If there were no people supporting me in my job then there is no need for me to do it.

This is his job. He is the artist. We are the fans. He is not going to forget that there are people cheering for him. He is not worried about fans disappearing as long as he delivers a good product to us.

He is reinventing Park Jimin. And he is taking time to do it and that's why he has not come to see us.

His goal is to change and he's fully confident he can do it. He feels a responsibility as a member of BTS and the man is out to conquer so I say watch out for future Jimin. He just asks for time to make it happen.

I said in a previous post a while back that Jimin – and the company – are not perfect. Speaking only about Jimin: after Face promotions were over and everyone was criticizing him and the company, I said he will evaluate what he's done and if he sees mistakes, things that could be done differently or better, he will fix them going forward. I told y'all this. This is exactly what he is doing.

He mentions that he cut his hair today... and described how long it was (to his chin) before he cut it and I'm crying. I hope he shot photos or video for something before he cut it so we can see...[cry]

His brief mention about Jungkookie's birthday:

My interpretation of his body language: The wheels are turning as he glances around, he is thinking about everything he knows that Jungkook is up to and matter-of-factly tells us "Jungkook is really busy." (Because I know what he's working on).

"I talked to him on the phone yesterday too." Too as in talked to him today as well since this day of Jimin's live IS JK's birthday.

He pauses a moment, thinking about what they spoke about/what he knows about Jungkook's activities and repeats "he's really busy," glances around again, still thinking about what Jungkook is up to and with an intake of breath and looking directly at us says he hopes Kookie-pookie takes good care of his health. He didn't say Kookie-pookie, that was me saying Kookie-pookie.

We know when Jimin is working intensely that he sometimes overdoes it. This is what Jimin implies when he says "he's really busy" and "I hope he takes care of his health" because Jimin can relate to the intensity of JK's activities.

Then asks us to please send his Jungkookie many birthday wishes.

Taking care of his Jungkookie, as he should.

And ending with his own thought about Jungkook's birthday: "It's a wonderful day, right?"

Awwwww.... so sweet. And then that little smirky smirk that I had to edit off because he smirked for another six seconds until someone else asked him AGAIN about his beat up knuckles.

Does he mean scroll back later after the live and look for his explanation about his scraped up hands or is he saying we'll find out later (in future content) why his hands are all beat up?

Then he scoops us up AND WALKS THROUGH HIS APARTMENT SJSKSKSKSJKJMOMFGWTFBBQ????!!!!

He's embarrassed his apartment is dirty or he'd show us. Ok, this is ALREADY A DIFFERENT PARK JIMIN.

My first reaction was NO SHIT, JIMIN! But he meant what he was about to show us was unusual for him. He wanted to show us his solar system mood light (my whole self burst with love for him when he did this).

He's laughing at himself the whole time he's setting it up, telling us his friend made fun of him, a 30 year old man with a mood light.

This is one of the ways I see Jimin transitioning himself. I don't know what the specific catalyst is/was but he's pivoted from being a total privacy freak to now walking around his apartment and showing us various rooms.

His dad's room when he comes to visit:

Jungkook has stated how he grew up learning from the members. You can see that he's learned a lot specifically from Jimin. Well, I think it's Jimin's turn to learn from Jungkook how to show another side of himself in this less inhibited way. I don't expect a naked-in-bed live from Jimin anytime soon but just the fact he showed us even a glimpse of his bed:

And then actually laid down on his bed and did this:

It's fitting he has a realistic solar system mood light. He was into astronomy in school, right? And as I said in a previous post, it makes sense now why the moons on his back look realistic.

He responded to a few comments and one about his earring, he's wearing one in his left ear but the right one got infected so he took it out.

When asked what his plans were for activities he said this:

When asked to show his seven tattoos (behind his ear, his back, left elbow, right elbow, chest, wrist, finger) he said he posted it yesterday and he looked like an anchovy:

Jiminie seems to be in control and thriving. I'm excited for him and my heart will break in a billion pieces when he leaves for enlistment. I know I will need to take the day off work (HOW CRAZY IS THAT??)

But sounds like he's going to show us/give us more before he goes and I feel very blessed that this one is my bias.

“So what do you think?” You held your breath waiting for Justin’s reply.

You were back in Toronto for a few days to record and write with Justin. You took advantage of the break you took to choose an album cover.

“I like them all a lot.” He replied without hesitation, “But this one’s my favorite.” He pointed toward the cover option in the middle.

“That’s my favorite too. I think it captures the album perfectly, but it’s subtle.” You gush excited about your latest project. This new album had been in the making for a while, but you wanted it to be perfect before releasing it.

“It’s just a cover, it can’t be that deep.” Auston pipped up from his spot on the couch. He didn’t take the time to look away from the TV, not wanting to miss a second of the game that was playing.

“Does he not have his own home?” You questioned to no one in particular, refusing to even look in his direction.

“What about you?” He fired back, “You’re always here.”

“Yeah, I actually own two homes.”

“So which one is your boyfriend in?” When Auston lacked a comeback his easiest option was to point out your lack of a partner.

“The same one your girlfriends in.” It was a weak comeback, you’d admit, but one thing you hated more than Austons presence was him getting the last word.

Auston was unfazed and instead sat up and moved closer to look at the options displayed on the table in front of the couch.

“I think this one’s the best.” He pointed toward the option on the left, a close second in your mind, not that you’d ever admit at one point it was also your favorite.

“Your opinion doesn’t matter, next please.” You look towards Hailey who was laughing watching the two of you.

“Whenever this one flops just remember me saying I liked the other one better” Auston moved back to his spot.

“You never cross my mind.”

You spent the next hour writing with the help of Justin. With him and Hailey bouncing back and forth between Toronto and LA often you both weren’t in the same place at the same time. So you wanted to take advantage of his gift while you had the chance.

It was nearing 7:00 o’clock when Auston let out a loud sigh before standing up from the couch.

“The boys and their girls are gonna go out tonight, if you guys want to join?” Auston lifted his arms above his head, stretching. You watched as his shirt lifted slightly showing off his abdomen. You quickly looked away, annoyed with yourself for even noticing.

“Sure!” Hailey excitedly responded for the both of them.

“(Y/N), you can join too if you aren’t too cool for us.”

“I’ll always be too cool for you.”

“I forgot your status might make it too difficult.” Auston mocked. The last time he visited Justin and Hailey in LA you turned down an evening out with them not wanting to deal with paparazzi.

Auston refused to believe you were too famous that you couldn’t even go out with your friends without paparazzi or fans showing up.

“I’ll come.” You stood up from the couch, an attempt to even out the playing field, but Auston’s height didn’t allow for that. “But wear a good outfit, everyone loves taking pictures.”

“I always look good for the camera.” Auston smirked down at you.

A long over-due ask compilation (Art & Music)

It's vaguely based on a short story from the book "The Consumer" by Michael Gira, specifically "The Boss". I think it came up in conversation with a friend or something when I was picking a new username, so that's how we arrived at it - this was almost a decade ago so, my memory on it is a little hazy!

I BELIEVE this little guide I put together over here might be helpful to you, also! I touched on pretty much everything you brought up.

As for reference material when it comes to facial expressions, I have a mirror next to my desk which I glance at often and make weird faces at LOL and for consistency, it's really a matter of learning to dissect and remember facial structure. It's just something you end up developing an eye for when you've done it for long enough! Naturally, if we're talking about drawing existing characters, it's always helpful to just look at some pictures of their mugs and take a minute to define what features about them make their faces recognizable - I touch on this at the link above as well!

I do plan on making a "drowstarion" (love that, by the way LOL) playlist eventually, life's just been kicking my ass and I hardly have the time 😭and when I do, I just wanna draw.

Otherwise I don't have any other playlists floating around at the moment, BUT the one my boyfriend made for his Vellioth comic can be found here, and it might scratch a similar itch!

Thank you! I believe this was in reference to this post. Something like that takes me about... An hour??? If we're talking just the colors, at least. Though that's a really rough estimate because I take a lot of breaks, so my sense of time when I work ends up pretty skewed. Even if the application of the colors themselves took less than 20 minutes I probably spent 2 hours just staring at it LOL.

My friend, I have no idea. I'm in a constant battle between "I want to draw more realistically" and "I want to simplify my art so I can draw more/faster". What you see is the result of that ongoing brain-tug-of-war.

Also, just the way I assume everyone else develops theirs - they see stuff they like and emulate it until their art is Frankensteinish enough to be it's own unique thing!

I'm far from a Type O Negative buff, BUT I'm happy to share some of my favorites with you! They're quite scattered across a couple of their albums so I'm not sure I have a favorite, but I would say October Rust is a good starting point.

Alas, I was one of those people who was already drawing in kindergarten 😅 though I would say I only started taking it seriously when I was around 15-16 years old. As someone who has tried their hand at several other hobbies since reaching adulthood, I get what you're saying that it can kinda feel like... You missed the wagon? I've felt that way about all kind of things lol

That said, I've seen adults managing to develop their art skills extremely fast and effectively before. Understanding where and how you need to improve, and how to follow lessons/guides best is something that is vastly improved by maturity and knowing how to best hone your time, attention, and resources - and those are skills we completely lack as children. So, I sincerely believe that as long as you commit yourself, you can definitely get to a point that you're happy with in a couple of years if not less.

JUST DO IT BUDDY we are all just people looking through a screen and you won't ever see, talk, or meet 99% of the folks who ever clap eyes on what you post. Whenever you start getting nervous about sharing something, take a minute to ask yourself why you're nervous, and if none of the reasons have any genuine substance besides being afraid of what people "might think", just go ahead and post it. You're no mind-reader after all, and if you are, I doubt you can hear what a guy from Argentina or wherever is thinking about the art you made.

Point is, nobody online can touch you 🤷and if someone doesn't like what you do, they can simply choose to not interact with it, and if they do you can block and move on. There are zero reasons for you to feel "bad" about putting up a doodle when our experiences on the web are so easily curated nowadays.

I finally rewatched Queen of Tears Episode 16.

Its given me a lot of clarity on why I didn't like it all that much. The episode feels very filler like, reiterating what I already know, no development nothing to draw me in. So here's a list of thing I really like vs things I had beef with:

- The employees in this corporate sector have been 10/10 throughout. I cannot with how much I love them to bits. Still not over 'I just want to see the rich argue' 😭😂

- Yangi's bond with Hyunwoo is absolutely 10/10 

- I like Haein trying to find the reason of their divorce. It's important for her cause why did two people who love each other want to divorce each other. But again I hate how this wasn't a main cause of comcern around epsidoe 7. Like don't brush over it fam. Don't you wanna know why the man you love and who loved you to bits wanted to divorce you?

- Those last 7-8 mins. Though I wish I had more of them. I needed a linear passing of time. Something like the Germany Montage at the start would've been perfect. But at the very end just 'Way home' playing, Hyunwoo seeing Haein as an angel to pick him up, the familiar happiness and love just spreading around them was beautiful to witness. Really got me teary eyed both times I watched it. 

The Bad: 

- I'm not even getting into the uselessness and bad execution of the whole Yoon Eun Sung plot line since episode 14. 

- Still have no idea why Mol Soo Hee she wanted Suwan dead? Like there's no rationale? Why not kill Hae-in or SeoCheol in all those 20 years as well? It makes no sense to me.

- the episode felt so unnecessarily dramatic. I get it he got shot and was in a car accident but I was so sure he'd be okay? Did not understand or appreciate the over dramaticness also those Yangi shots in that sequence were a little tooo dramatic for me

- I don't like Haein getting back her memories cause they said the hippocampus would be destroyed. It's my fault for looking for logic in the first place but can we please stick to what we established writernim. Also wasn't this the whole problem that she's not getting back ANY memories EVER?!

- The scene between the mothers at this point was also unnecessary. We could've gotten to this realization back in the episode this was brought up the first time. She knew the location and date I don't see how reviewing her album was the light bulb moment.

- I feel super bad for this one but for me even Hae-in's bedside speech, once Hyunwoo woke up, lacked sincerity. As much as she might realize she loves him. He's still a stranger. Who does she miss? Her husband who's love she has no recollection of? The man she loved but she has no idea how she loved him? Take out the loss of memories and it would've hit me like a truck. Like she's not even holding his hand as she waits cause she recently met him. What am supposed to cry over here? What could've been? The pre ep 15 Baekhong I dearly misssed at this point?

- More on the Hyunwoo hospital scene. When he says 'I had forgotten' As sweet as it is I already knew all of it. It was so ill placed I didn't have to see it here.  Also like what does she care? She doesn't remember if you forgot or not in the first place 💀

- The Yangi x Haeina acene in the hospital - what notebook are we talking about? Did I miss something? Did I fall asleep somewhere like what?! Also I feally do like Yangi but I thought all of the scenes with him were kinda forced this episode.

- The conversations where Haein tells Hyunwoo he's perfect. Is it just me or is Haein extremely expressive after the surgery? I can never imagine Haein telling Hyunwoo that he's perfect even if she think so. It was a little off putting for me being introduced to this new character in the last episode. I miss my inexpressible power girl.

- Just the voice over off what happened with Mol Soo Hee would've sufficed but I guess we had to see that SNU degree in action. 

- The turn in Da hye's emotion - as sweet as it was also felt forced. They just showed me earlier she didn't care for him and bullied him. Now you want me to belive she mistook her feeling okay sureeee 🙃

- This is what meant by killing the temperment. They start Hyunwoo's monolougue 'We forgave those who we used to resent and then we cut to this long scene of Aunt Beom ja. Then we have Hyunwoo, then we have his brother's scene. The editing was off here. I wish we had a monologue of just them. It all threw me off so much.

And here's why a sequence of Baekhong was so necessary cause remember the first episode we instantly fall in love and get curious because of that lovely montage of BaekHong Germany scenes. 

All in all good ending, horrible last two epsiode. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. It makes me long so much for the show I saw and fell in love with before. I have never felt this way about a last episode, I think I just expected better from this show.

Mini & Moni Album Exchange: Part 2 (and other thoughts)

Part 1

My plan was to write two posts about the album exchange. Summaries, more or less, with a few of my own thoughts. But this second post is going to also incorporate some of the things Jimin said during the jacket shoot that I think also shed some light on how the album should be viewed.

First of all, let’s appreciate Joon’s smile while listening to Who:

So…here’s where things get a little difficult because we might have to agree to disagree.

If you want to take a literal view of Who, then it’s pretty simple: Jimin is single and looking for love. So are his friends. And that’s that.

However, I would argue that there might be more here to consider based on some other things that were said by Jimin during his jacket shoot.

If we opt for the literal view of the lyrics of Muse as a whole, Jimin writes about love and then says, basically, “Wait! Actually I’m single. Who is my heart waiting for?” There isn’t much to misunderstand or interpret or assume in that case. It is a linear storyline with a surprise/twist ending.

If that’s your reading of Muse, that’s fine. I’m not going to tell you how to interpret Jimin’s art.

However. Jimin himself seems to want there to be various theories and interpretations. He is the “tailor of chaos” (photo folio) after all! I’m not going to pretend that I have all of the answers or that this is easy. But I do believe there is more here beyond the surface-level interpretation.

When Jimin tells Joon that he and his friends all feel this way—“flat”—I think that this could mean a lack of inspiration or excitement or purpose. Let’s not forget: the name of the album is Muse!

The word “muse” is defined as 1. (in Greek and Roman mythology) each of nine goddesses, daughters of Zeus, who preside over the arts and sciences. 2. the source of inspiration for a creative artist.

As I said in part 1 of the album exchange, I think love is being used as an analogy for artistic inspiration.

Jimin talks about the way the rapline inspired him:

Jimin talks about vocal training and how often he spoke about vocals with Jk. He tells the story of having drinks with Jk and Yoongi, and stepping aside with Jk so that Jk could demonstrate something related to vocals. You can read a little more about that here. (This was of course separate from the other numerous times Jimin and Yoongi have gotten drinks together, just so there’s no confusion. They are drinking buddies after all! +)

Jimin and Joon discuss the military and the future. Joon says glowing things about Jimin to close out the album exchange.

To summarize, I feel like we learned a lot about Muse and its meaning. I do not think we were provided with clear answers to some of our questions, but that is by design.

Sparkstember Day 12: In Outer Space (Cool Places)

Oh boy, it's finally here!! Having been a Sparks fan for nearly a year by that point, I finally got to an album I just straight up don't like! I honestly forgot by then that this was even a possibility. But a world where I can enjoy everything in such a vast catalogue of a favourite band of mine would be too perfect. It would be pretty strange and unsettling even. Not to always make it about my other favourite band whenever I'm talking about the first, but with TMBG also I eventually got to that one studio album release that I just couldn't bring myself to like, no matter what. So I think I discovered a bit of a personal repeating pattern here.

Alright then. My verdict on this album, which already got a pretty mixed response from fans as far as I know, is that it's not very good, or at the very least, it's not for me. Even the songs I like here I mostly like in the sense of, well, this one I could listen to again outside of the album every once in a while, but they're nowhere near being an actual favourite (besides one song, or two, mayyyybe four if I'm feeling particularly generous).

So I think that my main problem here comes down to how the arrangements / instrumentals seem rather empty to me but not in a cool minimalistic way. And, dare I say, they're pretty damn uninteresting - very few elements of suprise or anticipation to be found here. This is the only Sparks album that just... doesn't feel Sparks to me. (And that's coming right after Angst, which might really just be one of the most Sparks-like of Sparks albums in a way). Something is TERRIBLY missing here and a couple catchy melodies and fun synth lines aren't enough to make up for that. It drags on quite a bit and is underwhelming to listen to as a whole. With only a couple moments of change and something more interesting and engaging. It's this sort of situation where I feel like the whole time I'm waiting for some kind of resolution that never happens ultimately. First instance of me putting on a new Sparks album and forcing myself to sit through the whole thing. And last one I hope! (and expect...? well, better not jinx it)

Ok, having said all that... This will be a historical event because I can't finish this post before I have my obligatory listen to the album of the day on its day. So, time for some real time documentation of my changing opinion, or lack thereof. Time to hear IOS in it's entirety for the first time since april!

...Ok, I'm glad that I didn't say all this in vain at least, LOL! Because I'm still underwhelmed! No major change here. Definitely still not something I'm going to return to more often than very occasionally and the "waiting for nothing" effect was very present and real once again. And it just dawned on be, but do most of these songs not have a bridge?? Maybe that could be part of why it all feels pretty predictable! But alright, as per tradition, let's look at some highlights anyway.

Favourite songs (and other highlights):

Cool Places: never felt in any strong way about it but repeated listens made it an enjoyable little ditty over time, lol. One of my first impressions here was how LOW Russell's voice is, this must be the lowest he's ever sung, right?? And oh, quick shoutout to the 21×21 version of it too

All You Ever Think About Is Sex: ok, this one's really cool and exactly what convinced me that the rest of the album would be enjoyable in the same way. Not for me unfortunately!!

Please, Baby, Please: my definitive fav here that I like a whole lot and that for whatever reason doesn't seem to have any of this album's problems that I described earlier. And I'll always be partial towards songs that I can interpret as being aspec-coded, thanks to my predisposition to do that as often as possible

I Wish I Looked A Little Better: very similar case to All You Ever Think About Is Sex

Dance Godammit: it's funny. It's fun to listen to sometimes

Could you possibly talk about Viscera? I don’t have anything specific but I love the concept that he’s a Whole in a Soul’s place

Very long ramble under the cut

He is really my most under-spoken-on character here...which is odd because he is by far one of my favorite / more complex ones!

Vis is in his concept, Whole in Soul's place. I think in the album now, he reflects Soul very well in the idea of being the shell. Though this is mainly because Whole isn't really a character and Soul is the implied shell of what we think of as Whole in concept.. The casing, the iron maiden for Mind and Heart to be held within!!! (there is a reason his name was almost Body ig.. thank god CJ reconsidered tho. Body is kinda an awkward name/title.)

Anyways.

Vis is a hollowed out husk of what is supposed to be somebody. Soul is some form of throughline to Mind and Heart. A connector, an adaptor. Viscera is simply not this. He is a vacancy because he is fundamentally nothing. Meant to be someone, torn from his purpose and placed promptly in the spot of what would typically be his identity.

Sooo Viscera struggles to be much of anybody. In this, and through the hundreds of loops he endures due to Astray (Soul as Whole) and his inability to really, of course, be a person when he is meant to just be one facet of someone, Vis remembers everything.

It was a commonly shared idea that Soul is able to choose to remember or forget during loops. Swap Au explores this concept in that Astray explicitly is the reason Judge (Heart as Mind) and Ennui (Mind as Heart) forget alongside himself. Vis, as Whole yet not knowing it, remembers all of this context (though from his own point of view. So he does not know Astray /well/ really. But he feels for him in terms of knowing the panic that comes with having split down to three again.)

Vis is kind and gentle and cares very very much for his thirds, or rather his ids and his Whole as he sees them. He reminds Ennui and Judge of their names and his own every loop, and though things change during loops, and no timeline is entirely consistent, there are throughlines and thus predictability. So he can navigate it just as well.

Viscera is interesting in juxtaposition to Eleutheromania Soul who remembers his loops though Mind and Heart forget just the same. Yet their reactions and handling of the situations are fundamentally different. Though this is due to their roles and the treatment they get in their respective Psyche and by their respective versions of a Whole or Soul.

... But yes. Vis is. deeply longing to be complete in some way. He is unsure always of his emptiness and what might fill it, but never loses this inkling that being Whole is.. what he needs. And in some way, it is and is not that!

He also speaks in intense amounts of prose and roundabout allegories, symbolism, and metaphors. It was more a quirk of his character to make him distinct from how my other's spoke, but I think it also calls to the deeper idea of the way fragmented thoughts put together can be a little outlandish and nonsensical but.. make perfect sense to you in some way. Or something like that.

He also, moves very slowly and takes a lot of time to do things. Like an old window's computer. He needs time to process information!! And I attribute this also to his emptiness and lack of anything but memory as it is all he has in the moment to base what should be his feelings and thoughts on.

^ Though despite that sounding like he cannot feel or think or anything, it is more like trying to make sure he feels like himself? even though realistically Viscera very deeply struggles with that idea. Not that he'd say it ever. Vis is incredibly genuine, though. He does what he can to ensure the safety of others including his ids and they in turn do the same to him.

The Swap Au really makes for a VERY interesting person to look at due to characterization. Someone who is unstable but trying, and through all their struggles remains loving and warm. That is who Astray could be, who Vis essentially is and what Judge and Ennui contribute too.

Also he smells perpetually like citrus. I do not know why but I made it canonical that all four of them have distinct smells to them and the things they summon. Perhaps they are all just very scent oriented.

Also-Also in terms of my other Aus and Sources as a concept for HMS. Of which I can elaborate on ig? if need be! Viscera has no source...................... it is a black voided little pit or hole there instead.

If Soul's source is a star, then Viscera's became a sort of blackhole. I suppose.

I have definitely talked about this song before on here but I've been having a bit of a Greater Wrong of the Right moment. Oldschool Charheads know that this is one of my all-time favorite albums and has been for the better part of a decade, but I genuinely feel like Goneja is like, one of the top 10, maybe even top 5, Skuppy tracks ever, which I think (?) is a pretty esoteric opinion, since the post-Doomsday stuff doesn't tend to get nearly as much love.

Buuut it's just so good man. It's like, for lack of a better word I'd call it the thesis of the album. This might be a kinda scattered "analysis" but I think GWOTR is an album that reflects a lot of growth and maturity from Ogre (and cEv, but I'm talking lyrically right now so sorry lol)--That isn't to say that the pre-Doomsday stuff is "immature," but I think there's a kind of normal timeline of human experience and psychology present in the evolution of Ogre's lyrics and demeanor over time, with the early Skuppy stuff being much more proactive and angry, and later Skuppy stuff being much more reflective. Like, lyrics that go from "This thing sucks" to "What can be done about this thing, how do we react to it, what does this say about the world."

Anyway, I think GWOTR spends a lot of time reflecting on this change as lyrics span across a bunch of the songs about sitting there, literally sitting, and sort of acknowledging or not acknowledging the horrors of the world: "Sit and feel absolutely zero suffering / A condition worth denying," "In the place of safety I am fortunate to be alive." A lot of this is (and the album title evokes this too, and the stage show) implicitly about the state of international affairs in the US at the time, post 9/11, the Bush Administration, and the horrors taking place overseas by hand and dollar of the US militia. Reflecting on the helplessness of being within the country of origin, far away from the actual traumas taking place. To return to what I said above about that "proactive and angry" vs "reflective" statement, consider the lyrics of songs like VX Gas Attack or Second Tooth versus lyrics like Use Less or DaddyuWarbash, where we shift from talking about the war itself to talking about being a citizen of the country propagating it: "Doesn't concern me / Under a flag free / Are we all completely useless?," "We remove ourselves from the war / Looking from a distance, sanitized / Wash your hands and feel it / The dirt is down the drain."

I also don't think it's coincidence that this album and all that it represents and speaks on was the first Skinny Puppy album since both Ogre and cEvin got clean from harder drugs and got more into weed. I think this album sonically has this sort of long, winding, whirring sound I'd associate specifically with a weed high, and obviously Goneja by name is a play on ganja (though as a SoCal resident I used to try to read it as go-neigh-ha until I realized, LMAO), so it's asking you to be aware of the presence of marijuana within the song and the album as a whole. So I think Goneja kind of is a coalescence of the impact weed has on the album and the larger themes of the lyrics of the album, and serves as probably the most personal, or introspective track on the album, with this kind of dreamlike, erratic sound, simultaneously slow and mellow but with scattered, jumbled, almost-nonsense lyrics that shift into one another as the song progresses. I always felt the song was representational of getting way too high and way too stuck in your own head, and the way your thoughts start to warp, and you start thinking about all of these terrible things, and all of these dark moments in your own life, and these dark moments in history, and become wrapped up in how weird and fucked up the world is. "I wish I wouldn't live in newspapers" is one of the final statements of the song and I think THAT is kind of the thesis of the album right there. That feeling trapped by the world, the news, the information being fed to you, all of the horrors, how much bigger it is than you, how helpless and oppressive it feels. For Ogre, he'd spent, what, 20 years at this point making a career of speaking on all of those horrors? And to what end? Has anything changed for the better? Is there a point to this at all? Are we all completely useless?

Time felt like it had been moving in slow motion with everything that happened.

The person that you would have done anything for cheated on you and acted as if you didn’t mean anything to him.

While someone you considered to be a brother was covering for him and tried to make sure that he didn’t get caught by you.

It took some time, but you were better.

Not great, but better.

Once you had gotten back home, you immediately packed up all of you belongings and there was no trace left of you in the apartment that you once shared with them.

It was easy for you to disappear and cut off ties to anyone who was associated with Jack but with Urban as well.

You blocked all of their numbers, deleted your social media accounts, and moved to a whole new state.

You admit that it was hard leaving Kentucky because it was all that you have ever known, but there were too many places that served as memories to happy times that you had with him.

Happy times that you knew were a thing of the past.

The entire care ride home after catching him, your phone didn’t stop ringing between both him and Urban calling you.

You ignored them each time and meant it when you said that you didn’t want them to talk to you for as long as they lived.

Jack cheating on you obviously hurt, but a whole different level of hurt was added when Urban was now involved.

Urban was your godbrother and he would protect you at all costs and look out for you and you felt that there was no coming back from this level of betrayal.

You would think that Urban would have told you, but you had lost enough sleep going over the multiple scenarios in your head.

You had been back home in Kentucky for a few days and you had promised one of your really good friends, Blanca, that you would stay with her and go to her birthday dinner.

This was your first time being back in 7 months and you honestly didn’t know how to feel.

You avoided or tried to avoid every single place that reminded you of him.

Which was basically impossible.

“Hey, you almost ready to go?” Blanca asked walking into the guest bedroom where you were staying. You were trying to decide on what to wear seeing as a lot of your favorite clothes didn’t quite fit how they used to anymore.

“Almost, I think I’ll go with this black one with my pink cardigan over it and my ballerina flats. The heels are definitely a no go for the night.”

“That’ll be cute. I can help you with your hair too.”

Blanca was shifting her weight back and forth in the doorway and you immediately knew that something was on her mind.

“Out with it, Blanca. You hover when you have something to tell me and usually it’s something that I’m not going to like.”

“I… I would have told you before you came back but I knew if I did, that you wouldn’t have and I missed you.”

“Blanca….”

“I invited Jack and Urban.”

Silence.

“Y/N, please. They’re my friends too. And you never even told me what happened.”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Obviously it does because of the look on your face. I can’t help if you don’t tell me what happened between the two of you. Like, Jack and Urban basically turned Kentucky upside down looking for you after he came back and the tour was over. I obviously didn’t say anything and knew you needed time for yourself.”

“I’ll tell you tomorrow. I’m not going to have you focus on other things on your birthday. We need to be celebrating you and not worrying about my love life or lack there of.” Just then Blanca’s dog Panchito came to hop up and lay across your lap.

“You are literally the only person that this dog likes. He doesn’t even like me.”

“I have the magic touch I guess.”

“But you are telling me tomorrow and there is no way that you’re getting out of it.”

You simply sighed before trying to slip on your cardigan with Panchito still in your lap.

“Y/N, my goddaughter deserves to know her father, don’t you think?” Blanca asked as she looked down at your protruding stomach as you rested your right hand on top of it.

“I guess you’re right.”

It was around eight and you and Blanca had just arrived at the restaurant. You already couldn’t wait to sit down because your feet were killing you even though you decided to wear flats. Everyone met in the lobby area before Blanca spoke to the hostess to let her know that everyone was here and that all of you were ready to be seated. 

Jack and Urban didn’t even recognize you

Maybe it was the hair

It was a completely different color and a lot shorter

Once you made your way to the table, someone decided to take it upon themselves and be polite and pull out your chair for you

No one other than Jack himself

He looked up at you and did a double take

“Y/N?”

“In the flesh, thank you.” You said as he helped you to scoot in the chair to get as close to the table as your stomach would allow.

“Um, no problem. It’s uh good to see you.”

“Hmm, I’m sure it is.”

As you and Blanca were discussing the menu and she was trying to make sure that you got something healthy for you and your little one, Urban sent a text to Jack.

Urb- is that? Is that HER?!?

Jack- yes, she looks amazing and um is she dating anyone?

Urb- How am I supposed to know? She cut me off just like she did you but umm…

Jack- What?

Urb- Come on don’t make me say it

Jack- I’m confused

Urb- THAT IS YOUR BABY THAT SHE’S PREGNANT WITH, HOW CAN IT NOT BE? SHE LOOKS TOO FAR ALONG AND WHAT WE HAVEN’T SEEN HER IN ALMOST 7 MONTHS?

Jack-......

Just then all of the color drained from Jack’s face as he looked over at you, back at your stomach, and back to Urban who shook his head.

“Y/N, it’s good to see you.” Urban said while finally getting enough courage to speak to you. 

“You too, Urban.”

“So umm, Y/N, when did you get back to Louisville?”

You glanced up from your strawberry lemonade to look at him.

“About a week ago.”

“And you weren’t even going to tell me?”

“Tell you for what, Jack? It’s not like we talk often or at all for that matter.”

“I just thought…. I don’t know because we would both be here tonight and maybe you wanted to talk beforehand?”

“I didn’t know you would be here until me and Blanca were about to get in the car. But I should have known since I know the two of you are close with her too.”

“Well, how have you been? I see you’re um very pregnant. You look amazing by the way.” Jack literally couldn’t believe it was you sitting next to him. 

“I’ve been fine and thank you.”

“And you’re wearing that perfume I bought you too.”

“It’s my favorite so I figured why not?”

“I’m honestly surprised that you still have it.”

“Why?”

“Well…. You know…”

“The perfume did nothing to me, but on the other hand you did so I got rid of the one that hurt me.”

“And I’m sorry for that.”

“Jack, not now.”

“Then when?”

“We are here to celebrate Blanca. This is her night and we aren’t going to talk about whatever went on between us.”

“But I… okay just one question.”

“What?”

“I don’t see a wedding ring on your finger and…”

“Jackman, it's been seven months.”

“That doesn’t mean anything. People meet and get married in like a week. But who are you talking to now?”

“Why is that any of your business?”

“Because I want to make things right if you give me a chance.”

“Jack…..”

“Y/N… look I didn’t realize what I had until I lost it and I need to fix this.”

“What if I don’t want it to be fixed?” You asked as Jack’s appetizer of mozzarella sticks were placed on the table, without even thinking, he placed a few in front of you.

That was always the thing between the two of you.

Didn’t matter where you would go out to eat, you always ordered mozzarella sticks and shared them.

Without realizing what he had done until you looked at him and he got wide eyes.

“Oh, I just thought…”

“I know, and thank you. It’s been awhile since I had some so I see old habits die hard.”

“How’s your sister? Your niece? Is she still crying a lot?”

“They’re both fine. She doesn’t cry as much anymore, she was getting spoiled and we needed to break her out of it.”

Just then you felt yourself getting overwhelmed and promptly pushed yourself away from the table, Blanca looked over at you in concern.

“Hey, you okay?”

“I’m fine, I just did some fresh air, that’s all.”

“I’ll go with her.” Jack immediately piped up and followed you outside, once the cool crisp night air hit your face, you felt as though you could breathe again.

“You okay?” Jack asked, concerned.

“I’m fine, thank you.”

“Um, I have another question.”

“Seems like you’re full of them tonight.”

“How far along are you?”

Oh, shit.

“Why do you ask?”

“I’m just curious, Y/N.”

Silence.

“The baby is mine, isn’t it?”

Silence.

“Y/N, answer me.”

“Yes.”

“And you weren’t even going to tell me?!”

“I was ready to raise her by myself because of what you did to me. I found out after I had gotten back and I wanted nothing to do with you. Even her fucking sonogram pictures, she looks like you and no matter how much I tried to get away from you, nothing worked.”

“That isn’t an excuse! So, you were just going to keep her from me?”

“No! Well….. I don’t know!”

“You don’t know?!”

what is been in my mind recently was "the girl crying in her latte" but not the song, the title. does crying in latte have underneath meaning in english? (I couldn't find anything so I'm guessing not) so what could it mean? the best I came with was the sense of sadness that could be felt on daily life. or perhaps overwhelming days that can't be soothe by a simple act even. what do you think? "Crying in your latte" to my knowledge isn't a phrasing that already existed (@ native English speakers: please correct me if something similar did already exist). It's such a strong phrase though, I really like it. I really needed time to try and word the concept of it properly though because it contains so much in one phrase. It's simple, but it says A LOT. So bear with me, this will get long.

"Crying in your latte" is a metaphor for a couple of things but what it speaks to the most, to me anyway, is what life is like under late stage capitalism. (They may or may not agree with that exact wording, so please note those are my words.) To be crying in one's latte you'd need 1) things to be crying about, 2) to be living in a place where you can order a latte, 3) have the means to afford the latte. So to me, that means the girl crying in her latte is a girl with the privileges of the Western world, but who is at the same time thoroughly depressed about the state of things. This is a girl who should have it good, right? She clearly has certain privileges and has the means to buy a latte after all. So why the tears? It could be a whole range of things, from shallow "meaningless" things like social media drama about celebrities to a breakup to hating her job that she is trapped in to climate change to the excessively poor state of the world.

I do have to bring the song into this though, because who knows what came first: it being the album title or a song. The song has seemingly simple lyrics, which to me speaks of the shallowness of social media, how people are pretending to one another online, and there being a lack of real connection with each other. (Something something loneliness "epidemic".) The observer in the song to me doesn't seem very judgemental about why the girl might be crying but simply observes that every time one girl crying in her latte leaves her spot, another one will take her place. Acknowledging what's clearly a widespread feeling of depression, grief and sadness permeating life at the moment; there are too many things to be crying about. ("So many people are crying in their latte".) The girl is crying in her latte might initially read as a boomer-like judgement on this girl, phrased in a way that might make someone laugh, but most of all it seems to be an acknowledgement of there being something deeply wrong with the way the world is right now.

The songs on the album really drive this home (I won't mention all of them but I will mention *almost* all of them): we've got a song about a Hollywood star giving up her career to win a war and to keep other women safe who were escaping reality through fantasy, a song about a baby who wishes they hadn't been born, a song about people kept apart by their opposing work schedules, a song about someone who no one knew had been deeply unhappy because she kept up appearances and now can't take it any longer, a song about external pressure on who one should be, a song about dictatorship, a song about escaping the blandness of daily life, and a song literally called "It Doesn't Have To Be That Way" near the close of the album. Plus a Japanese bonus track called "This Is Not The World I Signed Up For". (All of these messages wrapped up in songs that are often energetic, beautiful and humorous. They know how to acknowledge hard truths in ways that leave you grinning and hopeful. To me this album is a wish for a better world.) I know, you simply asked about the phrase and not the song/album, but the phrase does contain all of that.

One more thing that I also feel in the meaning of the phrase is also made visible on the album cover, where we can see them reading a newspaper. There's this distance and disconnect between the person crying in their latte and some of the things they might be crying over. There's a constant stream of news coming from the world. But she's sitting in a cafe, with her latte. Not all of it is happening to her directly, she's seemingly safe - but she's also affected by it. (Maybe she bought that latte in an attempt to make it all a bit more bearable.) The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte contains these contradictions of privilege and powerlessness, connectedness and disconnect. It's someone who seemingly should not have something to cry about. And yet...

Isn't it interesting that TK who frequently hang out in their free time outside work - bowling, snowboarding, recording/sharing music, Paradise hotel, movie premiere ( quoting instances where we have proof ) aren't prime choice for any type of subunit since years. Do you think it's because Tae probably does not have that great of a relationship with his label? We did see him pitching friendcation with wooga but barely see him in any fun content with other members. Compare that to jm who does innumerable dance challenges, jkk travel show, that album exchange with moni, Suga concert etc to cite a few. Don't you see a stark absence of Tae?

Curious to know everyone's thoughts. Does Tae say no to subunit content or is it not even pitched to him. His solo ventures have mostly been his own thing or wooga or the 95z dance group. Gives an impression that he might not be as in touch with other members comparatively. Only exception being jk because he mentions him a lot on lives and the hang outs but even then no TK fun official content 🤔

Oddly, I’m not sure in which tone to read your ask. I’m gonna treat it as sincere, but I have to say I strongly dislike the narrative that leans to Tae not being close to BTS members.. let’s call it my trigger.

I think this ask needs to be balanced out a bit, because it’s not as if Tae hasn’t had any subunits.. he obviously has. He hasn’t had one with Jk and yes that is odd to me.. because fandom has been screaming for it. Their voices work together, it will be a huge success.. so yeah.. I blame the lack of it sofar on the Taekook of it all. I am hopeful that we’ll be getting one in the future though.. I think after enlistment perhaps more things will be possible.

As for fun content with Tae.. I mean.. there has been?! Tae went to Inkigayo with Jk which was in official content. Jm went with him at his fanmeet and Jm came to visit him during his performance. He went to visit Hobi at an mv shoot earlier on. Him and Jk were obviously going to Yoongi’s show together which was in the official content. Aside from that, it is clear that he meets the others outside of official content.. so I absolutely have no doubt that he’s a full, close, equal member of their group. We should never ignore that it’s very possible that members themselves choose what to do as well. Tae not having a collab with a member in his album imo is very much because he wanted to do his songs by himself. Some members might choose to work with a bandmember, but others might enjoy the chance to do something different for a change.

You can’t expect every member to have the same kind of content. Tae’s show with Wooga was perfect for him, but no other member would have been able to do it. I think Jin would also have been great at Jinny’s Kitchen, but it was also perfect for Tae. Tae chose to incorporate army in his promo.. which is also something I loved from him.. but which other members didn’t do. They can only do so much, especially last year.. with members being on a tight timetable.

Also.. I’m still holding out hope for a Tae appearance in the travel show!

I agree that Tkk content has been slim.. obviously.. and for me the reason is that Tae and Jk are likely in a relationship and have therefore not been allowed to do much together. I don’t think the company didn’t allow him to do stuff with other members and I don’t think Tae isn’t as close with the other members as well.
