the idea that demise controls not just ganondorf but really anything deemed 'evil' seems to be very widespread in the fandom and im wondering where that came from?

demise was one throw away end boss that, even with the unfortunate lore implications and damage it did to any other antagonist even in retrospect, was never associated with controlling others? (isnt it mostly ghirahim that summons or corrupts things in skyward sword too?) is it just bc he is the (said to be) the ultimate origin of all things "bad" so clearly he is the one controlling everything even post mortem? he is never relevant again and plays an honestly tiny role in the very game he is introduced in (the only one too)- we dont even know what he is capable of given how little he does even in his own fight- he very clearly dies at the end, doesnt fi even say whatever is left of him will be fully eradicated within the master sword??

so i heard about this story jam and decided why not, and now i have 2/3 of a fucked up lil story about mages and a dead dragon and transgenderism and my protag is having just the worst time:

Dead flesh cannot live again, but it can be made to move. Astrum is a bastard and a braggart and I wish I’d never met him, but he is the last of the truly great fleshcrafters, which is why I apprenticed myself to him in the first place. And so he carved into Dreadwing’s brain and he carved into my skin, and I climbed into the dragon and lo! what had died now lived again. If I live till morning, it will be a miracle. Astrum dragged me from Dreadwing’s mouth—still vomiting, still feeling the leaden weight of the goat in my gut—and beat me with his hands and his feet and his staff until I no longer moved or wailed enough to be worth beating. “I should have left you in the stinking marsh I found you in,” he spat. “Worthless creature!” He’s been gone for hours. Upstairs, eating with the Lord and making excuses, spinning lie on top of lie. My tongue still tastes of goatflesh and vomit. I cannot move without pain, so I simply do not move. I just lie there, staring at Dreadwing in the dark. For all that my heart beats, I am as dead as the dragon is.

for my first real stab at fantasy horror, it's going pretty well!

it's a reward for fully exploring the area or whatever but forcing a truce at halamshiral is SO boring. no boss fight no betrayal. the arm twisting is one dialogue tree. no one is that mad. but you DO get a solas chuckle in at least one of the dialogue options and that's worth it.

Takt: He can move everything within his Room, including a clown whose Haki is real weak. Just throw his head against a wall and be done with it.

Shambles: Law could just teleport Buggy into the ocean or into a small box and let him suffocate.

Scalpel: Could just rip out Buggy's heart and crush it right there.

Counter Shock: Just electrocute the clown bastard.

Radio Knife: An electrically charged Kikoku that stops logia users from reforming, thus likely being able to stop Buggy from putting himself back together.

Gamma Knife: A blade of pure gamma radiation that gets pumped into the body, melting organs.

Shock Wille: Literally a body shattering shock wave coming from the inside of a person.

A: I headcanon that Taranza's species as a whole (including Tillda) have innate abilities in both plant and web magic (and probably crystal magic too). But that doesn't mean all of them practice or use that magic on a regular basis—Tillda, for example, rarely has a major reason to make webs aside from doing her hair, and she almost never uses her plant magic. So, she's not exactly battle-tested, but she wouldn't hesitate to sling a spell or two in self-defense.

PS: If Taranza's is pink and Sectonia's is golden, I think Tillda's magic aura ought to be purple!

PPS: It was mostly Tillda that supported Taranza's study of puppeteering magic (which is NOT one of their species' innate abilities). She didn't understand the first thing about it herself, but it was one of the few things that continued to make her little brother genuinely cheerful in the wake of their parents' sudden absence, so… escorting him to puppetry classes and sorcerers' seminars was soon just part of life.

A: I would have to think Tillda is a heavy sleeper. Her job is pretty stressful and she always comes home tired. And she does take naps, but never intentionally…
