i feel like a lot of people ignore the fact that in a lot of places, bicycling just. cannot be done for half the year, & that's why public transport being good is important. i cannot bike in 5 feet of snow & ice or in 40c heat. i can't even walk in that, unless i have the energy to snowshoe or a bucket of ice water to chug.

"but I can do it!" good for you. unfortunately i live in Berk (snowing for 9 months of the year & hailing the other 3) & cannot unless i want to die. also disabled people exist. & children. & people who live in a place where everything is no closer than 30 minutes away, & 30 minutes in -30c can kill you if you can't afford a good pair of boots & a good coat. i may have bike paths but the river floods past them every year. what do i do then? bike on the highway?? just let me take the train

just had the horrifying realisation that i might be a gold jewelery person rather than a silver jewelery person . . .

#no because i know technically i shouldve made the realisation a long time ago #because i do have a warm undertone and most indian / brown girlies look absolutely fantastic in gold #like i was raised with pure 24 karat gold around me everywhere #why did i fall to the standards of western society #i always used silver jewelery as a way to rebel against the stereotypes #to show that i was different #because i didnt want to be stereotyped with all the other one billion people of my country #and i used silver jewelery and other alternatives to distance myself away from them #because i didnt live there anymore #and havent for a long time #i so desperately wanted to be different from the one billion other people who live there #and it can be especially hard when your parents compare you to others your age who can flaunt gold easily #so i seeked comfort in silver jewelery and other alternatives #almost as a way to rebel from my parents and the stereotypes foreigners place on my country #its funny how those people who once liked silver now look at gold with envy #while theres me doing the opposite #i found comfort in silver because it helped me figure out who i am #but if silver is my present then gold was my past #and ive been trying so hard to bury gold down #tarnishing the once shiny metal with my words and thoughts #slowly ive been realising that perhaps this isnt the correct way #maybe its as simple as putting on some fake-gold earrings and realising i look better in them #maybe it was just that short moment of thought #but i think that its been brewing in my brain for a long time but i never wanted to let it come to light #because im so afraid of conforming to those negative stereotypes they have of me #but im proud that lately ive been trying to come to peace with my heritage and my past #silver jewelery gave me the space i needed to explore who i am and discover my own identity #but it can never be completely who i am because i was born in gold #ive been trying to come at peace with my heritage and my identity #and i dont think im there yet

Yuu who tries so hard to appease the vestiges of humanity that play up the traits of the Seven Dorms and their family, where they blend and mix and you cannot discern their faces.

The amalgam of comfort and grating unfamiliarity. The hollow feeling that you are where you've always wanted to be and yet you cannot settle because in the end the experiences that you've gone through has forever changed you.

Adeuce having to face off against the crude versions of themselves based off the recollection of Yuu.

“conditional love” sounds like something petty but it’s not. it’s serious. it feels almost the same as unconditional love when you’re right in the middle of it, maybe even better because it’s so rare. that’s why you can see that glow of affection between logan and his kids when they finally earn a moment of his approval. maybe you understand that he loves you in a bad way or that this is unhealthy or any other thing, or you hate that you want it because it shouldn’t be so impossible to get, but love still feels like love

Walked across to hit the New York side - which meant walking across the Rainbow Bridge... and crossing an international border on foot!

Three Sisters Islands was about as close as one was allowed to get on that side.

Apparently they close a lot off during the winter because of the freezing spray (seen in the middle photo).

The most expensive pair of eggs (and accoutrements) I'll ever eat; ice-crusted bushes at the brink; and the Brits love a plinth.

#caught the monument on the way out #(may have muttered some American gloating re: War of 1812)#I *hope* I never have more expensive eggs #you'll see why they cost so much later #I get the ice is problematic #but this is one of the natural wonders of the world #they should have figured out how to make it accessible year-round #they've already set up the exploitation #they might as well use it #Niagara Falls should be a 24/7/365 destination #everyone should see it if at all possible #(the wind chill was between 10-15ºF that day)#(and they have barely any buildings open?)#(and the trolley's not running)#(mightn't people need a quicker - and possibly warmer - way to get around?)#(and places to duck into - and maybe buy warm beverages and snacks - *particularly* at this time of year?)#(but no - nothing open)#(I'm sure the justification is that there aren't enough people)#(but they're all on the Canadian side)#(because that's where the action is)#anyway #very annoyed with New York #that was a long cold slog #and I didn't get to do any of the really good stuff #but I did get to walk across a border #not an easy thing to do around here!#my photos #free life
