Hello, hello! Here, I will share some questions I ask myself when making image descriptions. Make sure to remember that these are personal questions, and that they may not work for everyone — remember to find your own way to work with image descriptions, as to be accessible for yourself too.
⠀
What is this? — A divider, banner or icon? Maybe a replycon? A flag? A drawing, an animation? A graphic element? Is it commonly referred by with a specific name/term? Is it decorative or informative?
How is this? — Is it round? Is it square? Does it have a specific geometrical feel to it? Is it sharp? Is it soft? Is it a multitude of shapes? What vibe do these shapes give me? Is it classy? Is it cyberpop? Is it minimalistic?
What colours are here? — Multiple shades of pink and yellow? Which && what names? Vanilla cream? Burnt yellow? Hot magenta-ish pink? Is it light(est/er/ish) or dark(est/er/ish)? Is it vibrant, neon or bright? Is it pastel, or a baby tone? What objects reminds me of this colour? Is it a gradient from (COLOR A) to (COLOUR B)?
How many details? — Is there additional images? Is there a symbol for the flag? Are there other shapes in the image? Does it have any outlines or stripes? Is thetr a gradient? Is there anything overlayed on it?
Who's this? — What character is this, from what series/media? What is their expression, and what may the expression possibly mean? What are they wearing? What is their stance? What are they doing?
Where's this? — Is it daytime or nighttime (if you can tell)? Is there a specific natural landscape? What does the landscape have, trees and flowers and some birds? How does the mountain in the distance look? Is it indoors? How does the room feel, scary or welcoming or home-like or official/stablishment-like? Does the room have any furniture? Which, and how do they look like? Is there any animal or critter in the image? What critter is it, and what does it look like?
⠀
Now, obviously, the amount of these questions being answer varies depending on how complex a image is — please remember to keep in mind that plain text must also be accessible to people who are reading it — a lengthy, continuous huge wall of text may give headaches and confuse people. This is also not a extensive list, and additions in the notes are more than welcome. Make sure to only answer anything that gives key information, if you'd prefer to keep it short and sweet... Toodle-o!

You know, I think we should, in general, be making more fun of Bones than Kirk about his track-record with beautiful (and possibly evil) women. Kirk comes by his reputation honestly and we should defintely poke fun at him because his knee-jerk reaction to problem solving is some form of seduction at base. That’s just facts. But we also never talk about Leonard “Heart-Eyes” McCoy, who 9 times out of 10 is the one who does something dumb because a lady looked at him with big sad eyes. He’s the anti-Kirk. Getting seduced for plot purposes is what he does. Salt monster, anyone? Death by Jousting Incident? Not to mention that entire asteroid-ship debacle. I diagnose him with Southern Gentleman and it is terminal.
#I love him he’s my favorite#the first season does him real dirty this way I’ve noticed#he kinda gets more him-focused episodes in later seasons#it’s just something I’ve noticed recently#Kirk: this woman has access/information/evil schemes that I need and I shall Kiss Her about it#bones: a beautiful woman has entered the chat I’m going to giver her my bank account information 💖💖💖#there is balance in all things I suppose#star trek: tos#Star Trek#james t kirk#leonard mccoy

OK so I listened to about 3 hours of in-depth interviews with dan muse (2 podcasts over 2 dog walks, that sounds more intense than I am!) and with the caveat that he might absolutely be a psychopath or something, these parts made me excited about the hire:
says something that shaped him deeply as a person was having an immense passion for something (hockey) but being not very good at it relatively speaking. since he's been a kid he's realized how much he has to work if he wanted to get anywhere (will be fun to see who can out do each other out of our three insane workaholics of kyle sid and now dan)
my favorite type of manager is someone who knows how to do my job even if they delegate the work: he's seems like this type. he's done a lot of different jobs up and down organizations, such as the "not-so-sexy" (podcaster's words) video coaching job and organizing meals for players after games (that level of player operations); he's talked about raising his hand for multiple different positions--saying you don't need to pay me much at all--just so he could be a part of the teams and learn more and more
the most impactful job for his development as a coach was a year teaching high school history, where he realized he had thirty kids all with different needs and learning types and abilities. He's like it's my job to make sure all of them no matter what understand the information I'm trying to give them--and he's carried that with him coaching hockey even twenty years later
he is soooo development development development and wants to teach players to think the game: he says even in simple drills he tries to add a moment in there where they have to make an active choice so they're not just running on autopilot
raved about marc johnstone and how so many people told him he couldn't play in the USHL but then he was captain of the chicago team and now he's in WBS
his wife has a masters in teaching and i think that's neat
not to stereotype anything but the stock photos might be uh giving people a different impression of both his talking voice and what his personality seems like (just adding this because I've been seeing a lot of like jabs at him because of them)
#i'm sure there's a lot more#but those were tidbits that made me hopeful#there's a throw away line in a will smith profile about#how he didn't give his usndtp team access to the dressing room#for a month because they hadn't earned it or something#IDK i think i would need more information about that though before i judged him for it#we'll see!

#art#ive literally just been treating this game as a library simuator#i walk from bookseller to bookseller opening up all of their books#vivecs sermons are either a highlight or the point at which i stop reading#ive been trying to convince the ordinators that imitation is the highest form of flattery but it hasnt been working#let me wear your helmets please theyre so funny..#posting morrowind in 2024 isnt a cry for help but youre not wrong to be concerned.#morrowind#almalexia#vivec#im going to explain the chitin armor give me a moment#so the bonewalker nerevar on the shrines is adorable and it was only after drawing it however many times that i realized#it looked relatively close to a modified chitin armor#and so i modified chitin armor a few times and this was probably the cutest result#i also know i drew almalexia relatively pristine and untouched by years and vivec not so much but my thought process was#vivecs role as if not a favorite then the most accessible divine or the most “hands on” in a manner of speaking#acting in ways visible to the general population or actions explicitly brought to their attention#like not that almalexia isnt doing anything she is#but the dissemination of information regarding that is very different etc etc etc#anyways to a certain extent a god is the face on a shrine or in art or upon a statue or carving#but vivecs presence is interwoven with the geography of vvardenfell especially and his actions and writings with pubished materials#and the arts and culture and customs etc etc etc#so to me the face of a god you know and feel a commonality with or a god that walks alongside you is a face you would recognize#and vivec is already otherworldly looking enough#the simple mark of the years on his skin in some way grounding him in reality felt more right#that and i think the ways in which he and almalexia care about outward appearance are slightly different- they prioritize different things#and the ways they present outward power and their embodiment of their respective attributes share some similarities as they both have that#important preoccupation with physical power and physical strength to a certain degree#oh my god nobody read this i am yapping so bad.#tes

Hate when people replace Babs with Tim. As if she isn't the information broker and tech specialist of the batfamily. I think Tim learned most of his computer skills under her wing.
His expertise lies more in gadget tinkering and straight-up sleuthing. He helps gather information but Babs organizes and controls it. As if she would let him get away with attempts to hack her system, successful or not.
#barbara gordon#tim drake#like tim goes undercovers he does detective work and weaponizes said information#but babs OWNS it and the system its her domain#shes got files and access bruce dont even know about#bhb

these two are linked in some way. 100%. i'm hesitant to add mem to the theory board because idk if they'll be related to march too or just cyrene (being an entity that sort of embodies cyrene's... essence? like ELF elysia in hi3) but the similarities they have with Both are too big to ignore completely

unsure if they're about to go the route of cyrene and march being the same person or if march is simply like... a fragment of cyrene that was sealed and sent away to maybe give her a chance to live on since this girl is doomed to die in virtually every universe and iteration. amphoreus's time and space displacement is fucked up and it seems like we're going to be spending a lot of the adventure split across concepts of "past," "present," and "future." so that mayyyyy be why we were able to see cyrene interacting with and talking to stelle in the nameless faces video, if she's no longer "whole"/dead/...whatever.
she does appear to be emerging from a place of... non... physicality. also it's worth noting that in the first picture of her i included, she's sinking - into water or a water-like substance. that can presumably freeze over...... and become the ice block himeko and welt found march 7th in....... hm? 🤨
it's hard to say how much cyrene will have in common with elysia - it's unfair to expect them to be the exact same character, and maybe these points i'm about to bring up mean little in the end because we don't know for sure where the story is going to go, but
elysia was "born from nothing" which doesn't quite have the same connotations as march 7th's "birth" but you know. they both found themselves in a sudden state of existence with next to nothing to fall back on and they defined themselves
elysia is not humble about her beauty and speaks often of it (as she should; she is very pretty). similarly, march frequently boasts about her cuteness and describes herself as the cutest girl in the world (as she should; she is very cute)
"never forget your roots" is one of the mantras elysia lives by. this stands out to me because despite not... really needing those memories, march is pretty insistent on remembering her past. the lesson that the garden of remembrance and just the universe and her adventures in general have tried to teach her ("your present defines you; so long as you're happy here, you don't need the memories of your past, and retrieving them might destroy what you've come to love now") just doesn't appear to be sinking in. perhaps because she subconsciously has a core belief stating the opposite
as for how mem would fit into this i have nothing for you because we don't have anywhere near enough info on them for me to begin thinking about that. but it seems like they'll be a pretty big deal.
like i'm spitballing more than anything here. if march IS a fragment of cyrene i think it's also obvious that she has grown into her own, entirely separate person and her origins are inconsequential - though she might not think that if/when she learns this about herself. that might also offer an explanation for why the garden of remembrance won't let her have any part of her old memories, not even a hint. because learning that she's technically a piece of someone else might be too heavy a blow to her sense of identity and she'll be entirely too focused on all the wrong things. uncovering her past will slow her down at the most inopportune moment... make her vulnerable in all the worst ways. which might be why she appears so absent from the adventure.
it's also possible that like. all three of these guys - march, cyrene, and mem - are fragments of a titan (don't ask me which). or that march was given cyrene's coreflame (don't ask me which) before being catapulted into space. or march was the previous owner of the coreflame cyrene has now - if they can be passed on to other people - before being catapulted into space. or i mean, the coreflame cyrene HAD because i'm not convinced this girl's fully alive and well. mem IS the coreflame, brought to life/imparted with cyrene's memories and will.
do you see... there's just so very much to think about... looooots of story spoilers got thrown at us if we can just... untangle the mess... can anyone HEAR me

#me when i want to talk about march 7th and cyrene but the fandom is oversaturated with thirst posts for 3 men:#guys. guys please. please the story. the implications? guys?#honkai star rail#amphoreus#cyrene#march 7th#i'm personally not exactly set on any one outcome just yet i need to see a little more!!#i don't think there's been enough information given to confirm one possibility more over another#at least not in terms of... trailers and preview posts and accessible content. i don't look at story leaks#i will see the story when it is in the game and on my screen thank you very much#there are dots here though. waiting to be connected. ouuhhhh the Dots

It is my sincerest and unironic belief that we must invest in preserving "old technology." The more we move to a hegemonic, easily-surveilled way of living, the worse we will find this world to be.
Letters, public phones and transport, cash, and so much more are key to ensuring both freedom of movement and information, but also to combat the surveillance state. We need to preserve the ability to both access the world but also to be untraceable. I truly hope more people start to recognize this. It isn't about nostalgia for the past. It is about ensuring that we are actually afforded freedom, from the richest person to the person who lives on the sidewalk.
#politics#i was ranting at my dad about how pissed i am that the US has essentially killed the payphone because we have smartphones#imagine killing letters because 'oough we have email though!!!'#i'm sure people advocate for abolishing mail (and i have seen it firsthand) but i don't agree with it#we must preserve freedom of movement and information and that includes making it as accessible and public as possible imo#i do not want to live in a world wherein my smartphone is both what i MUST rely on but it is also traceable 24/7/52/365#'if you're innocent you have nothing to hide' is a fucking cop-out to permit a surveillance state by the way#it is flawed logic and i think that logic is part of the reason we got to this point#'why do you need cash? that's kind of suspicious to not LET people trace your purchases' like come ON

I know that journalists and newspapers need to make money but the paywalling has gotten ABSURD.
Just a few years ago, most paywalled newspapers let you read a certain number of articles for free every month. So like, you would be granted 5 free articles every month and once you ran out then you’d be paywalled. Nowadays I can’t click on a New York Times or Forbes or Washington Post article without IMMEDIATELY being told I need to pay for a subscription.
I knew it’s been bad for a while but I was so angry the other day because I was trying to give a conservative family member links to reputable articles about how many Americans needlessly suffer and die due to the US healthcare insurance system. And I had to keep digging because SO MANY ARTICLES were paywalled right off the bat.
Do you think Fox News ever paywalls people? Or any other far right news outlet? No wonder people are getting radicalized when the truth is actively being kept behind a paywall.
#I’m far from the first person to point this out#this is a huge problem and it’s only getting worse#paywall#paywalled#News#us politics#politics#information accessibility

pondering that falon'din is associated with an owl, and those are also messengers of andruil. and he's referred to as "winged death" which is also mentioned to be something that elgar'nan deploys against enemies. and both falon'din and andruil are referred to as venturing into dark places, where no one else can survive/wanted to go.
and ghilan'nain was not initially an evanuris, but was antagonistic towards them and making a bunch of weird creatures. she was given the offer to join them in return for getting rid of the creatures, and accepted. but with "pride stopping her hand" from destroying a few. and when asked about trusting people to share power, solas says "I know that mistake well enough to carve the angles of her face from memory."
solas also has nothing good at all to say about falon'din, mostly calling him a bloodthirsty tyrant who went so far in encroaching onto other evanuris territory that mythal had to besiege his temple and beat him up to stop him.
but he says nothing about dirthamen at all.
dirthamen is described as having gone missing unexpectedly, scaring all his followers, because they were now unprotected. and caught between their own high priest wanting to lock them into the temple forever like a cask of amontillado, and other forces outside that wanted to take their secrets by force. there is one note that a dirthamen follower defied the evanuris and took on a forbidden (probably a dragon) type of form, and was judged by elgar'nan harshly. he apparently also invented the varterral to protect his town from a high dragon? wack, but also could indicate that he had worked with ghilan'nain on making it, since she's the only one who's otherwise mentioned to be bioengineering stuff.
dirthamen has very very few surviving statues or depictions, and is more associated with falon'din than as his own independent figure in the dalish myths. even his own temple includes mosaics of falon'din. there's a few statues that are probably dirthamen, but the most striking is in mythal's section of the fade behind the eluvian, which is a statue of a hooded figure, doubled over with a giant sword sticking out of his back.
#dragon age#dragon age meta#txt#dirthamen#i love the idea of ghilan'nain initially being friends with solas but then betraying the rebellion in favour of becoming an evanuris#ALSO it makes the ''he was a wolf and she was a halla 🥺'' Heterosexual Motif very funny if the halla was an absolute menace to society.#halla (threatening). the halla is committing atrocities like you would not Believe.#solas wandering up to a dalish clan and locking eyes with this mild looking white deer thing and just hearing kill bill sirens#andruil/ghil could even be like a somewhat cursed celene/briala parallel if briala had actually agreed to sell out her people#in favour of being's celene's lover/right hand instead.#so she narced on dirthamen who then gets killed/partially absorbed by falon'din#with most of his followers scattered/killed/forcibly converted to his service as falon'din goes on a rampage#until mythal steps in to make him knock it off#which then makes the others nervous that she was capable of stopping him + might start actively doing her job as Justice again#so they get together and set up an ides of march type of event that takes her out#and then are like ''yay! we can finally roll around in the blight even more like we wanted to :)''#so solas decides to just wall them off entirely#who knows what sylaise or june are up to in this theory#i assume they were just playing minecraft creative mode or the sims and didn't notice anything. just vibing.#anyway i wish this had come up bc i was deeply curious about my boy dirthamen....#he's the god of secrets! this dude should still be kicking around in some form. get back in there.#at the very least he should have a weird little cult or something remaining#personally i'm declaring that dirthamen was a spirit like cole.#who had the capability to remove memories#and that's a) how mythal managed to force andruil to ''forget'' how to access the void#and b) why the others killed him - perhaps to get it back? and why his followers were terrified without his protection#bc they had way too much classified information about all this world-endingly bad stuff

Here’s something awesome you could do. Make your self a part of your community and a steward of the land that supports it!
Here is an enormous list of state master naturalist programs. Of which there are local chapters to get involved with.
It typically does involve some classes (as you need to be able to identify plants and such) and then ongoing volunteer work: maintaining trails, recording data, community events, invasive species removal, education, gardening, doing admin work, and so on.
There is sometimes a small cost, or you essentially pay the class fees by volunteering. Often there is a fee waiver. There are also typically car pools to meet for classes, field trips, and other projects (wow the power of community or something).
#The exception to this information is Mass Audubon. Charging the highest fee I know of and it is not flexible about it.#they would rather have a bunch of retired volunteers and exclude the vast majority of people 🤷♂️#i can’t lie these groups are pretty skewed tward retired white women specifically. However!#Grandma friends are awesome! Be the change you want to see in the group demographic!#I’m not going to say these groups don’t have their issues to access#Are they all recognizing the incredibly obvious that indigenous people were the stewards of this land and colonialism destroyed that?#perhaps not! but these are groups you can influence! chip away! it isn’t perfect but expecting that out of the gate will lead to inaction#I’m not part of the Montana group lol but Virginia#master naturalists#community organizing

I love the idea that Bruce takes the Batfam on hikes outside of Gotham, and puts up with the arguing over who goes in what car, packs everyone's favourite snacks, will race with the other car if enough passengers in his egg him on. Bruce generally stays ridicuously quiet while the kids jabber enough to alert everything living in the woods near them but will weigh in once the kids debate who's strong enough to wrestle a bear, chime in on unsolved hiker cases, build fires, and carry anyone that gets tired, all while sneaking awful pictures of them.
#One of the kids usually peels off the rest of the group and quietly joins him at the front#Bruce has to beg and plead that none of them climb stupidly#There was one funny occasion when Jason broke his ankle and Bruce carried him back (Jason was utterly unamused and annoyed)#Damian loves the hikes and informs them of every animal and plant in the vicinity (and pretended there were leeches once when Steph took a#dip in a lake)#Duke becomes the flashlight when it gets dark at everyone's insistence and has a phenomenal spooky story voice#Cass and Dick have silly contests to give Bruce heart attacks by going off trail and scaling the side of the mountain#Tim has to be pried off some technology and sunburns awfully even on cloudy days. He's also the only one ready for the ticks#Babs and Alfred join when the hikes are wheelchair accessible or take a more scenic drive up and meet them at the top/at campgrounds#dc comics#batman#bruce wayne#batfamily
