Development Update - December 2024
Tumblr media
Happy New Year, everyone! We're so excited to be able to start off 2025 with our biggest news yet: we have a planned closed beta launch window of Q1 2026 for Mythaura!
Read on for a recap of 2024, more information about our closed beta period, Ryu expressions, January astrology, and Ko-fi Winter Quarter reward concepts!
2024 Year in Review
Creative
This year, the creative team worked on adding new features, introducing imaginative designs, and refining lore/worldbuilding to enrich the overall experience.
New Beasts and Expressions: All 9 beast expression bases completed for both young and adult with finalized specials for Dragons, Unicorns, Griffins, Hippogriffs, and Ryu.
Mutations, Supers and Specials: Introduced the Celestial mutation as well as new Specials Banding & Merle, and the Super Prismatic.
New Artist: Welcomed Sourdeer to the creative team.
Collaboration and Sponsorship: Sponsored several new companions from our Ko-Fi sponsors—Amaru, Inkminks, Somnowl, Torchlight Python, Belligerent Capygora, and the Fruit-Footeded Gecko.
New Colors: Revealed two eye-catching colors, Canyon (a contest winner) and Porphyry (a surprise bonus), giving players even more variety for their Beasts.
Classes and Gear: Unveiled distinct classes, each with its own themed equipment and companions, to provide deeper roleplay and strategic depth.
Items and Worldbuilding: Created a range of new items—from soulshift coins to potions, rations, and over a dozen fishable species—enriching Mythaura’s economy and interactions.
Star Signs & Astrology: Continued to elaborate on the zodiac-like system, connecting each Beast’s fate to celestial alignments.
Questing & Story Outline: Laid the groundwork for the intro quest pipeline and overarching narrative, ensuring that players’ journey unfolds with purposeful progression.
Tumblr media
Code
This year, the development team worked diligently on refining and expanding the codebase to support new features, enhance performance, and improve gameplay experiences. A total 429,000 lines of code changed across both the backend and frontend, reflecting:
New Features: Implementation of systems like skill trees, inventory management, community forums, elite enemies, npc & quest systems, and advanced customization options for Beasts.
Optimizations and Refactoring: Significant cleanup and streamlining of backend systems, such as game state management, passive effects, damage algorithms, and map data structures, ensuring better performance and maintainability.
Map Builder: a tool that allows us to build bespoke maps
Regular updates to ensure compatibility with modern tools and frameworks.
It’s worth noting that line changes alone don’t capture the complexity of programming work. For example:
A single line of efficient code can replace multiple lines of legacy logic.
Optimizing backend systems often involves removing redundant or outdated code without adding new functionality.
Things like added dependencies can add many lines of code without adding much bespoke functionality.

Sylus, Xavier, and Caleb: Amazing at coding, advanced mathematics, and data engineering/data science kind of stuff.
Zayne: Understands the importance of such subjects but hardly ever dabbled in it through his schooling. Finds it interestingly like a puzzle though.
Rafayel: Disgusted, unmoisturized, appalled -> "Where did all the numbers go? What is a python? The snake? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE ARE IMAGINARY THINGS?!

hi so I want to be an electrical engineer, do you mind if I ask if you have any advice?
Tumblr media
Low quality picture of a crow (?)
Of course!! My asks and dms are always open
If you want advice on anything specific lmk! Any questions at all!! But some general tips
-Don't let your math skills get rusty. There is a lot of math. Also invest in a good graphing calculator
-Learn to use a CAD and/or circuit simulator program like ltspice or altium(there are plenty of free ones out there I just cant remember any altium alternatives rn) and get some practice with them, they'll come in clutch
-If you plan on doing pure EE(I'm combined computer/electrical), get familiar with matlab and the like, it's probably the most "coding" you'll need. If you want to do combined computer/electrical, get familiar with basic coding. Most people recommend python for this. I cannot provide recommendations because my first programming language as a kid was C and thus my expectations are way out of whack
-V=IR is your most bestest friend. Save me ohm's law and nodal analysis
-To directly quote one of my lab manuals from an advanced EE practical lab: do not lick the circuits

a Tridaily Dose of Emika
(because of exams)
programming languages I use
I do programming, sometimes. I will list the languages I know, chronologically.
Scratch (when I was 10 or something)
Processing/weird combination of a Java library and a very shitty integrated code environment that comes with it, or whatever that word is. (when I was 14, maybe??)
Python (I dunno, used it for the first time at 16, I would guess)
C (when I was either 20 or 19)
HTML, CSS, Javascript (when I was 20??)
Haskell (when I was 20 (I am still 20))
So Scratch is just adorable, right??
Processing?? I dunno, it helped me learn the concepts????? It was really weird looking back at it. I feel like I was very shitty, but it had a library to make visual stuff easy, so it worked. I wouldn't know how to use actual Java, though, because classes were an advanced concept for me back then, and I forgot it since, and I don't ever use classes with the other languages I use.
Python sucks so bad, I hate it, but school coerces me into using it sometimes.....
C is my favourite, and the one I'm the best at. It's just very satisfying, I guess. I've been building a datastructure library lately.
HTML and CSS are kinda funny, Javascript sucks, but you need it I guess
Haskell is so cute, I love it, but I suck at it as of now. I had a month orso of using it and then went back to C, but I do plan to learn more of it later on :3 now, I will tell you more about these languages
Scratch is just some little kid who is throwing paint around (they are fine??? like they're a kid.... you can't judge them)
Processing is some friendly old white dude (he is fine)
Python is some 30-year old in lower upper management of some multinational who thinks very highly of himself and stuff (we hate him)
C is a 25-year old non-binary cool person (we like them)
HTML is not a person
CSS is not a person either
Javascript, we don't know enough to tell, and with we, we mean I
Haskell is a 16 or 17 year old alt girl (we like her)

WAIT TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PROGRAMMING WHAT YOU DO- mainly i need to be reminded this is not an impossible task and i am in fact just tired lololol
OHHH LOL I'm not a professional or anything but im in an advanced Python class so I've worked on a few projects that have absolutely KILLED me in terms of motivation. I haven't worked with super complex games (yet) but I have coded a few simplistic games in Blender (Absolutely miserable by the way, Blender is awesome but it has a HUGE learning curve that im still not over) and also in Spyder. Admittedly, what your working on (a fully fledged game?!?) is wayyy more complex then what I'd probably take on, but it's still doable and definitely not impossible!!! I've gotten incredibly fatigued on a few projects for my class (Err-- I think the worst one was on making a back-and-forth combat game in spyder with pygame, god, absolutely miserable.) but you've just gotta remember your goal and that it IS possible!!!!! Just difficult and tiresome. Taking a break might help!!! Not even a particularly long one, just enough to rest your mind so you can view your problem through a new lens.
Sorry if this isnt the most helpful lol I'm not versed in complex game-making, but good luck on your journey!!!! I've loved reading about your ideas, it sounds really cool!!!!! <:)

Your All-in-One AI Web Agent: Save $200+ a Month, Unleash Limitless Possibilities!
Imagine having an AI agent that costs you nothing monthly, runs directly on your computer, and is unrestricted in its capabilities. OpenAI Operator charges up to $200/month for limited API calls and restricts access to many tasks like visiting thousands of websites. With DeepSeek-R1 and Browser-Use, you:
• Save money while keeping everything local and private.
• Automate visiting 100,000+ websites, gathering data, filling forms, and navigating like a human.
• Gain total freedom to explore, scrape, and interact with the web like never before.
You may have heard about Operator from Open AI that runs on their computer in some cloud with you passing on private information to their AI to so anything useful. AND you pay for the gift . It is not paranoid to not want you passwords and logins and personal details to be shared. OpenAI of course charges a substantial amount of money for something that will limit exactly what sites you can visit, like YouTube for example. With this method you will start telling an AI exactly what you want it to do, in plain language, and watching it navigate the web, gather information, and make decisions—all without writing a single line of code.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to build an AI agent that performs tasks like scraping news, analyzing social media mentions, and making predictions using DeepSeek-R1 and Browser-Use, but instead of writing a Python script, you’ll interact with the AI directly using prompts.
These instructions are in constant revisions as DeepSeek R1 is days old. Browser Use has been a standard for quite a while. This method can be for people who are new to AI and programming. It may seem technical at first, but by the end of this guide, you’ll feel confident using your AI agent to perform a variety of tasks, all by talking to it. how, if you look at these instructions and it seems to overwhelming, wait, we will have a single download app soon. It is in testing now.
This is version 3.0 of these instructions January 26th, 2025.
This guide will walk you through setting up DeepSeek-R1 8B (4-bit) and Browser-Use Web UI, ensuring even the most novice users succeed.
What You’ll Achieve
By following this guide, you’ll:
1. Set up DeepSeek-R1, a reasoning AI that works privately on your computer.
2. Configure Browser-Use Web UI, a tool to automate web scraping, form-filling, and real-time interaction.
3. Create an AI agent capable of finding stock news, gathering Reddit mentions, and predicting stock trends—all while operating without cloud restrictions.
A Deep Dive At ReadMultiplex.com Soon
We will have a deep dive into how you can use this platform for very advanced AI use cases that few have thought of let alone seen before. Join us at ReadMultiplex.com and become a member that not only sees the future earlier but also with particle and pragmatic ways to profit from the future.

I don't know if this comes under trade secret or whatever (if it does im so sorry for intruding!!) but how did you get the phone system to work? Are you using Ren'Py or a different engine?
(game's developer responding!)
No trade secrets at all - all the code for the game is actually open source (MIT license and CC 4.0 Attribution, depending on which part you mean) so you can use it however as long as you credit the source! It's not necessarily written to be picked up by other people (it's often hacky and not documented), but anyone is welcome to pick at it.
Not sure if you mean "phone system" as in the Chittr stuff or the TechniColor Heart stuff. It's all running in RenPy (the whole game is), but the Chittr system is a lot jankier than the phone stuff done for TechniColor Heart. There's a lot of Python code helping to drive the back-end of everything, although the actual interface/UI aspects are handled by the RenPy engine's screen language, mostly.
At its heart, both systems are a combination of a list of items visible within the phone (text posts, etc.) and a set of RenPy screens to iterate through those and display them, allow interactivity, etc. The TH phone system uses a system of custom Python classes, whereas the Chittr system uses a set of dictionaries since it was written a few years ago and I wasn't as well-versed in how Python does class stuff (my professional experience was mostly in C#, VB.NET, etc.).
The Technicolor Heart version uses one master screen for the phone interface and then a set of subscreens for the various individual components (dating site, messages, shop, etc.) with their own UI and calls to important classes. If you unpack the script files (using something like RPA extract), you can find the TH stuff in volume12/vol12_datingsim_phone.rpy and the Chittr stuff mostly in chittr.rpy in the base game directory. Be warned in advance that the Chittr portion is bad and has some really jacked-up code to fix bugs that required going back and retroactively adjusting some stuff.
There's some elements of the UI that interact with the phone system in other areas, like the game's quick menus, to do things like displaying message notifications. If you poke around, you should see what I mean.
If you're looking for a general way to do a phone interface, I'd strongly suggest looking at the TechniColor Heart variant - that's by the far the cleanest, best-coded iteration of that concept.

Hacktivism: Digital Rebellion for a New Age 🌐💥
In an era where our lives are intertwined with the digital landscape, the concept of hacktivism has become more than just a buzzword. It’s the fusion of hacking and activism—where people use their coding and cyber skills to disrupt power structures, challenge injustice, and amplify voices that often go unheard. It's a rebellion born from the belief that access to information, privacy, and freedom are rights, not privileges. But how did this digital resistance movement come to be, and how can you get involved? Let’s dive into it. 💻⚡️
What Exactly Is Hacktivism? 🤖✨
At its core, hacktivism is activism with a digital twist. It’s about using technology and hacking tools to advance social, political, and environmental causes. The most common methods include:
DDoS Attacks (Distributed Denial of Service): Overloading a target’s website with too much traffic, essentially crashing it, to temporarily shut down an online service.
Website Defacement: Replacing a website’s homepage with a political message, often exposing corruption or unethical practices.
Data Leaks: Exposing hidden documents or sensitive information that reveal corporate or governmental wrongdoing.
Bypassing Censorship: Circumventing firewalls or government restrictions to make sure information reaches the people it needs to.
The idea is simple: when a government or corporation controls the narrative or hides the truth, hacktivists take it into their own hands to expose it. 🌍💡
Why Is Hacktivism Important? 🔥
In a world dominated by corporations and powerful governments, hacktivism represents a form of resistance that’s accessible. It’s about leveling the playing field, giving people—especially those who lack resources—an avenue to protest, to expose corruption, and to disrupt systems that perpetuate inequality. The digital world is where much of our lives now happen, and hacktivism uses the very systems that oppress us to fight back.
Think about WikiLeaks leaking documents that exposed global surveillance and the activities of intelligence agencies. Or how Anonymous has played a pivotal role in advocating for free speech, standing up against internet censorship, and exposing corrupt governments and corporations. These are the digital warriors fighting for a cause, using nothing but code and their knowledge of the web.
Hacktivism is a direct response to modern issues like surveillance, censorship, and misinformation. It's a way to shift power back to the people, to give voice to the voiceless, and to challenge oppressive systems that don’t always play by the rules.
The Ethical Dilemma 🤔💭
Let’s be real: hacktivism doesn’t come without its ethical dilemmas. While the intentions are often noble, the methods used—hacking into private systems, defacing websites, leaking sensitive info—can sometimes lead to unintended consequences. The line between activism and cybercrime is thin, and depending on where you live, you might face serious legal repercussions for participating in hacktivist activities.
It’s important to consider the ethics behind the actions. Are you defending the free flow of information? Or are you inadvertently causing harm to innocent bystanders? Are the people you’re exposing truly deserving of scrutiny, or are you just participating in chaos for the sake of it?
So if you’re thinking of getting involved, it’s crucial to ask yourself: What am I fighting for? And is the harm done justified by the greater good?
How to Get Started 💻💡
So, you’re interested in getting involved? Here’s a starting point to help you use your tech skills for good:
Learn the Basics of Hacking 🔐: Before diving into the world of hacktivism, you'll need to understand the tools of the trade. Start with the basics: programming languages like Python, HTML, and JavaScript are good foundational skills. Learn how networks work and how to exploit vulnerabilities in websites and servers. There are plenty of free online resources like Codecademy, Hack This Site, and OverTheWire to help you get started.
Understand the Ethical Implications ⚖️: Hacktivism is, above all, about fighting for justice and transparency. But it’s crucial to think through your actions. What’s the bigger picture? What are you trying to achieve? Keep up with the latest issues surrounding privacy, data rights, and digital freedom. Some online groups like The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) provide great resources on the ethics of hacking and digital activism.
Join Communities 🕸️: Being part of a like-minded group can give you support and insight. Online communities, like those on Reddit, Discord, or specific forums like 4chan (if you're cautious of the chaos), can help you learn more about hacktivism. Anonymous has also had an iconic role in digital activism and can be a place where people learn to organize for change.
Stay Informed 🌐: To be effective as a hacktivist, you need to be in the know. Follow independent news sources, activist blogs, and websites that report on global surveillance, corporate corruption, and governmental abuse of power. Hacktivism often reacts to injustices that would otherwise go unnoticed—being informed helps you take action when necessary.
Respect the Digital Space 🌱: While hacktivism can be used to disrupt, it’s important to respect the privacy and safety of ordinary people. Try to avoid unnecessary damage to private citizens, and focus on the systems that need disrupting. The internet is a tool that should be used to liberate, not to destroy without purpose.
Never Forget the Human Side ❤️: As with all activism, the heart of hacktivism is about making a difference in real people’s lives. Whether it's freeing information that has been hidden, protecting human rights, or challenging unjust power structures—always remember that at the end of the code, there are humans behind the cause.
Final Thoughts 💬
Hacktivism is a powerful, transformative form of resistance. It’s not always about flashy headlines or viral attacks—often, it’s the quiet work of exposing truths and giving people a voice in a world that tries to keep them silent. It’s messy, it’s complex, and it’s not for everyone. But if you’re interested in hacking for a purpose greater than yourself, learning the craft with the intention to fight for a better, more just world is something that can actually make a difference.
Remember: With great code comes great responsibility. ✊🌐💻
