Aegaeon x Driver Reader
This was requested by @thepathofpain
Note: This is based on his personality in Torna, as that what I could find the most information on without taking several days to probably hear one voiceline.
Tumblr media
• The children of the Emperor did not hold the potential to awaken a blade, but the royal family could not go without protection, so you, the captain of the imperial forces, and the empires tactician were each given a blade. One would be sent out to uphold law and order, while the other would remain with the royal heirs, while not training of course, any of them getting caught in the crossfire would lead to disaster. You happened to land with Aegaeon.
• He is WAY overprotective, and possessive, he once told an on duty soldier that you were HIS responsibility, not theirs. They literally just asked if you were fine after a scuffle.
• Aegaeon, like Brighid, also keeps a journal/diary. The largest portion seems to be about the Aegis war, your entry is the second largest. Kind of hard to beat a major historical event in terms of recorded history.
• He will often sing your praise, but become all flustered if you return the favor.
• He often tries to get you to relax. You have to remind him what your jobs are.
• He's essentially your classic gentleman. Opening doors for you, holding your bags while shopping, the usual things that pop into your head when you think gentleman.
• Whenever you two are alone you can hear him muttering under his breath about something or someone being breathtaking.
• His inability to take compliments has also caused him some embarrassment as when he doesn't get flustered or emotional, he returns compliments without thinking, leading to either flat out wrong statements or borderline creepy. One time you complimented a cologne that someone gave him and his reply was "Thank you. You smell nice as well." He wouldn't leave his quarters until called upon for duty the rest of the day.
• There was one time you exchanged gifts, most likely a holiday, where he gave you a flower pin that seemed to resemble him in color.
• The two of you are always together except when turning in, as the empires blades each have their own rooms, which he prefers to stay in. (Man is easily embarrassed)
• After you reached about your early mid life, the heirs were old enough to have their own children, and after another seven years one of them awakened a core crystal that a soldier was careless with. After that, your duty was to train this child to one day inherit one of the two blades. Aegaeon seems excited to share his knowledge and wisdom.
___________________________________________
Note Sorry this was so short, the request was rather vague, it doesn't help that I haven't had much practice with characters like Aegaeon, or that he doesn't get much screen time. It also may not help that I want to avoid Torna spoilers since I haven't beaten it yet, but I hope you enjoyed this anyway.

poly relationship with hugo, aegaeon & brighid
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: hugo ardanach x gn!reader x brighid x aegaeon
tags: established relationship, blade/driver relationship, wholesome fluff, bit of angst (about a blade's life span)
a/n: team hugo is so underrated, so i'll have to do my part and write for them 🫡 anyways they deserve the world <3
Tumblr media
aegaeon and brighid are both very protective of you and hugo, not just because protecting you is part of their job, but because they couldn't stand to see you two hurt!
they don't even want the two of you to even get a single scratch from a battle, so they train very hard and always give their best to keep you two safe!
though hugo would love to be the one who gets to protect the three of you too someday! he wants to show off his protective side, but rarely gets the chance for it
aegaeon especially shows his love for his three partners by acts of service. whether it's protecting you in battle or cooking for you afterwards, it's his way of being affectionate
brighid keeps a journal about her time with hugo, aegaeon and you, where she writes down all the things you do together and how much she loves you
she wants her future selves to remember how special the three of you were to her! so while she isn't very vocal about her love, you can read all about it in her journal!
hugo likes to use his status as the emperor of mor ardain to offer brighid, aegaeon and you a good life!
he isn't spoiling you, but he does ensure that if you have a wish, you'll get it! though with how modest brighid and aegaeon are, they rarely ask for something
getting to spend time together is all they truly want! they know that eventually your life together will end and they'll forget all about you, so they want to make as many memories as possible!

Brighid/Morag & NO NOPONS
word count: 1047
“Lady Mòrag, we have an emergency.”
Mòrag snapped awake from where she fell asleep on the desk. Brighid, standing at where she burst open the door, was looking at her incredulously. At least, as incredulous as she could with her eyes closed. It was a feat that only someone like Brighid could perform.
Never mind about that.
“What did you say, Brighid?” Mòrag rose to her feet in one smooth motion, as if she hadn’t been caught sleeping. Her body felt like it, though, and she had to take a moment to blink away the sudden lightheadedness assaulting her mind from rising so quickly. Also, one of her feet felt full of pins.
Brighid was kind enough to let her recover before she delivered the grim news, “All the nopons are missing.”
Mòrag blinked at her. She did it several more times, wondering if she misheard. When Brighid only continued to stand there with every hint of seriousness, Mòrag realized that, yes, Brighid had indeed spoken the dreaded words Mòrag had heard.
Mòrag squinted at her.
“Perhaps it might be better for you to see for yourself,” Brighid said, gesturing for Mòrag to follow after her as she walked back out. Seeing she had no other choice, Mòrag followed after her Blade, her whole stomach sinking in dread with what sort of disaster she had to deal with now.
They walked around Hardhaigh, even strolling into Alba Cavanich. Just as Brighid had said, Mòrag saw absolutely no nopons at all. Even the citizens seemed confused, as Mòrag caught snippets of conversations where they whispered about what had happened to the tiny denizens.
Nopons, for their technological advancements, were very important to Mor Ardain. To have all of them disappear so suddenly, Mòrag couldn’t even begin to imagine the chaos it was inside their R&D department right now.
“Do you think they all just… upped and left?” Mòrag asked. Brighid shook her head.
“No… there would’ve been reports of them, or at least some kind of clue.” A corner of Brighid’s lips twitched into a wry smile. “Nopon are not exactly the most subtle of creatures.”
“… you strike a good point.” Mòrag put a hand on her chin, her mind racing as she struggled to even make sense of what was happening. “Is it only Mor Ardain? Have you heard anything about the other countries and their nopons? And what of Argentum?”
“I haven’t heard of anything. I only just found out recently myself, and immediately came to inform you.”
Mòrag nodded. “Let’s go find his Majesty and tell him.”
They returned to the palace. It was strange, not seeing any nopon at all. They usually holed themselves up, but there had always been at least one or two hastily waddling down the hallways to get to wherever they needed to go. It made Mòrag restless, not being able to see them. And, as they got closer to the throne, an uneasy feeling began to take Mòrag.
When they came into the throne room, Aegaeon was there, with his head in his hands.
“Aegaeon,” Mòrag immediately said with alarm, “what’s the matter?”
Aegaeon slowly took his hands off his face, and just as slowly, turned around to look at them. “Ah, Lady Mòrag, Brighid. What brings you here?”
“I’m here to see his Majesty,” Mòrag answered, wondering slightly what Aegaeon had even been doing earlier. Brighid said nothing, but the slight furrow to her brow betrayed her concern. “Aegaeon, have you heard about the nopon?”
“Nopon?” Aegaeon immediately brightened. “What about them?”
“They’re… er, missing, I suppose.” Mòrag frowned. “All gone. Brighid and I have been looking into the matter and thought to inform His Majesty.”
“All missing?!” Aegaeon was shocked, his mouth gaping open. “How could that be?! Nopon… if they’re all gone…” He shook his head, clearly distressed. “Nopons are just so tiny and cute and cuddly! Much like his Majesty himself! And they’re all gone…”
Both Mòrag and Brighid stared at him. Somehow, even with someone of his complexion, he managed a blush. Aegaeon was just somehow full of surprises today. “My apologies, I did not mean to say that. Aloud, I mean. While you two were there.”
Brighid coughed into a fist while Mòrag awkwardly pretended to tug her hat down.
“… anyway, do you know where his Majesty is?” Mòrag asked. Aegaeon shook his head. Mòrag nodded. “Very well then, I will go find him.”
“Wait, Lady Mòrag,” Aegaeon called out. “You say all the nopon are missing?”
Mòrag turned to Aegaeon, who could only gasp, like he made some kind of huge realization. “Nopon… are tiny, cute, and cuddly… much like his Majesty himself…” He turned to Mòrag with a grave expression, and Mòrag knew she wasn’t going to like what he was going to say. “Nopon must run in your ancestry, Lady Mòrag, for your brother is—”
“Lady Mòrag!”
Mòrag snapped awake with a shout, shooting up in her seat. There was another shout, and Mòrag realized belatedly she had almost headbutted Brighid, who’d been leaning over her to wake her up. “B-Brighid?”
Brighid wrinkled her nose, a sign that she was glaring at Mòrag now. “Good morning, Lady Mòrag,” she said. “You looked like you had a fitful nap so I thought to wake you up, but it looks like you might have knocked me into slumber instead.”
Mòrag managed a sheepish laugh. “My apologies, Brighid. I had the strangest dream…”
“Oh?” Brighid was curious, a trait that would lead to her constant downfalls.
“In my dream, and… er, Aegaeon was acting very strangely, and… I can’t quite remember, but all the nopons disappeared and—”
“Good riddance,” Brighid muttered.
“—and Aegaeon said his Majesty was a nopon.”
Brighid stared at her. Mòrag stared back, or at least, stared at her eyelids. It was hard trying to match Brighid’s hidden gazes sometimes.
“… if you excuse me, Lady Mòrag, I’m going to have a talk with Aegaeon,” Brighid said suddenly, not even waiting for Mòrag to reply before striding out the room, and then she was gone.
Mòrag stared blankly at the spot where Brighid had been. Strange. She stood up, stretched, and looked out the windows behind her, contemplative.
“Nopons are just as cute and cuddly as His Majesty himself, hm…”

"Avalon (Japanese: アーサー, Āsā) was a Special Rare Blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. They could grant tremendous power to their Driver Aline and her allies. Avalon used the light element, wielded a Glaive Dirk, and acted as a Healer in battle. He was renowned for his ability to crystallise ether and use it for multiple purposes, including healing Core Crystals.
After the events of Torna ~ The Golden Country, Avalon’s Core Crystal was passed down through Aline’s family as an heirloom known as the Brilliant Core Crystal, and was eventually broken 500 years later by the impact of a shipwreck in the mouth of the Urayan Titan. Sapphire ended up acquiring some of Avalon’s powers when fragments of the Brilliant Core Crystal entered her body."
Avalon is a Blade OC I created for Xenoblade Chronicles 2! They mostly came about as a way for me to provide reasoning behind Sapphire’s abilities, but I’ve now figured out a way to make them important and relevant by incorporating them into TTGC - including doing so alongside my other XC2 self-insert, Aline - so that’s been very fun to work on and use to develop them both! ^-^
(Please note that the image above isn’t accurate to their clothing, although it is accurate to their physical appearance, and was also not drawn by me; instead, it was created using a Picrew by Nase_Nikyuu, linked here! A lot more information about Avalon, their story, and how they might work in-game is under the readmore, if you’re curious!)
As promised, here is some more information about Avalon that isn’t just restricted to the Xenoblade Wiki’s structure (which is what I was trying to replicate up there above the readmore):
Just to clarify, Avalon is nonbinary, and uses both he/him and they/them pronouns interchangeably! ..I didn’t necessarily intend for his colour palette to have all the colours of the nonbinary pride flag on it - I picked the purple eyes and blond hair since I thought they looked neat on him, then only realised after the fact what would happen if I made his outfit mostly white with black accents (albeit the Picrew image doesn’t show that since it’s more for showing his physical appearance than his outfit) - but, that has also happened.
Avalon’s character:
Avalon is Aline’s first and only Blade during the time of TTGC. She awakened their Core Crystal unexpectedly after unearthing it in the middle of a crop field, and she did not realise she had the aptitude to become a Driver, so she picked it up without expecting anything to happen. Except it did. Oops.
Aline recognises that he is a very powerful Blade (not only because light-element Blades are so rare but also because of his special crystallisation ability), and so sometimes worries that her aversion to combat is holding Avalon back from his true battle potential. However, he seems content with taking a more supportive role, given his proficiency and role as a healer.
In terms of personality, I would say he is fairly calm, but determined to do what is right, and is protective of his teammates; I imagine him getting on well with Aegaeon in particular, but maybe not as well with someone like Minoth (which I suppose arguably makes sense, given that Minoth is dark-element which opposes Avalon’s light-element). Given my relative lack of knowledge about TTGC’s characters, this isn’t particularly set in stone.
Avalon’s ability - Ether Crystallisation:
As was mentioned before, Avalon has the unique power to crystallise ether out of the atmosphere in their local vicinity; these crystals are always white in colour, because of their status as a light-element Blade. This has many potential applications - for example, on a large scale, they could do this enough to create walkable platforms (possibly as a unique Field Skill that’s used similarly to the Ice Mastery bridges in the main game of XC2, but for TTGC instead?). They could also use the ether crystals as projectiles to attack with during Specials, or maybe shields to defend with in combat.
However, on a smaller scale, Avalon can also repair damaged Core Crystals by restoring the crystal, regardless of whether it is unresonated (so a fracture can be healed, allowing the Blade in the Core Crystal to be awakened again) or already-resonated (so an awakened Blade with a damaged Core Crystal can be healed, and although no such examples existed in his time, Blades whose Core Crystals had been eaten to create Blade Eaters can also be stabilised and further enhanced by his power.) This allows them to be a very effective and appreciated healer for the forces fighting against Malos, since they can heal both humans and Blades thanks to his ability.
(This is also the only aspect of Avalon’s powerful that Sapphire “inherited”, since she can’t crystallise anywhere near much ether as he could in one go, due to the source of that ability - i.e. Avalon’s Core Crystal inside her body - being incomplete and fragmented. Sapphire’s not a Blade, after all.)
Avalon’s fate:
Speaking of Avalon’s Core Crystal - which has a special name, the Brilliant Core Crystal (like how Kasandra’s is called the Lucky Core Crystal) - it is passed down through Aline’s family after her death because of the exploits the pair achieved together during the Aegis War. Whenever Avalon is awakened, their Core Crystal is shaped like a medieval sword on their chest.
The inheritance process continues for almost 500 years before the Brilliant Core Crystal is passed down to Sapphire’s mother, who does not have the aptitude to become a Driver. She was keeping the Core Crystal safe as a family heirloom, intending to let Sapphire try to resonate with it once she was old enough, but it ended up being destroyed in the shipwreck that caused Sapphire to wash up into the mouth of the Urayan Titan.
The Brilliant Core Crystal was shattered into fragments by the impact of the shipwreck, and Sapphire ended up being flung against a wall and landing on top of its shards. This caused them - and subsequently, some of Avalon’s power as a Blade - to enter Sapphire’s body and become integrated into her (essentially turning her into an unofficial/unintentional Blade Eater), and the enhanced regeneration that all Blades have allowed Sapphire to survive the awful injuries she sustained before Vandham and his crew found her and brought her back to Garfont Village.
Avalon’s hypothetical playstyle:
Avalon wields a unique weapon type, the Glaive Dirk. Essentially, it’s a long-bladed knife (i.e. a dirk) that can also turn into a spear (i.e. a glaive), because.. the pole is made of ether, or something. This was mainly just an excuse to classify them as a healer, since combat roles are tied to weapons in XC2 (and I want them to be a healer because of their unique power but also the fact that there are no light or dark healer Blades in XC2), but I didn’t think any of the pre-existing healer weapons really fit them. And it kind of makes them more special, which they deserve!
If he was playable in the main game of XC2, his animations would probably work like a mix of Megalance and some kind of one-handed Knuckle Claws (since.. too many other unique weapons use Twin Rings’ animations), with maybe different Drivers favouring either the glaive or the dirk aspect more for their Arts and auto-attacks (e.g. the taller the Driver, the more they use it as a glaive, since it’s so much longer?). A very versatile weapon because it’s essentially two pre-existing weapons from our world rolled into one.
In terms of their playstyle, Avalon would be more able and willing to take aggro compared to other healers, to fit the fact that they’re supposed to be inspired by an archetypal “knight in shining armour” despite not being classed as a tank (since.. their name is Avalon which is a paradisal island from Arthurian legend, their Japanese name is supposed to be read as Arthur as in King Arthur, and also they’re light-element).
I was thinking that maybe one of their battle skills would be some kind of damage absorption mechanic, so they actually have more defensive potential than their stats would suggest and there’s merit to them having aggro? Or maybe they provide a small constant healing effect to the party - it’d have to be small so as not to be too overpowered, but still enough to have a noticeable effect and improve party survivability while they’re on the field. That might make more sense, actually.
I think that’s everything for now, and if I want to add more then I always can later. I know I still need to figure out what their outfit would look like, possibly incorporating some kind of knight’s armour (though trying to do that without making it look tank-like and bulky will be tricky), but I wanted to post this now since it’s been in my drafts for a long time.
Thank you so much to everyone who has read this far, because I realise that I wrote a lot but it means a lot that you would read it all if you did so!

Tickle Headcanon Masterlist
Formally known as the “Super Smash Bros. Headcanon Masterlist”, this masterlist lists all of the headcanons I’ve made over the course of this blog’s existence.
Links to all of the headcanons will be provided. Just click or tap on a character’s name, and the link should take you to the headcanons that I made for that specific character.
Some of the links that I have provided in the list below will take you to the same post. For example, the link that takes you to my Mario headcanons will be the same as the link that takes you to my Luigi headcanons. Don’t worry, this is not an error. Some of the asks that I have gotten in the past requested two or more characters at the same time. In response, I created headcanons for each of the characters that they had asked for, and put them all together in a single response.
All of the characters who have appeared in Super Smash Bros. are listed in order of their Fighter number. This is the number that appears next to a character’s name on the official website for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If you need some examples to understand what this means, Captain Falcon’s Fighter number is #11, and Robin’s Fighter number is #56. On this list, the Fighter number of each fighter will be displayed on the left side of a character’s name. Echo Fighters can be distinguished by an “E” that is next to their Fighter Number.
I’ll make sure to update this post whenever I finish a request for a character that is currently missing from this list, or whenever I come up with a list of headcanons in my own time.
The link to this list will be in my pinned post, but if you don’t want to use it, you can either search for this post using the search bar, or check the “Headcanon Masterlist” tag.
If you haven’t beaten Xenoblade Chronicles 2, you’ll want to be careful if you intend on scrolling through this masterlist. This masterlist spoils the name of a specific Blade that is obtained in seventh chapter of the game, but isn’t referred to by name until the tenth and final chapter.
Click or tap on “Read More” to see the masterlist.

tl;dr addam >>> rex
don’t read if u stan rex
imho xc2′s weakest point was its overarching focus on Rex and Pyra’s relationship. which... isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because the development between them was necessary for the player to give a shit about Rex’s quest to get to Elysium, but there was so much focused around them and everything revolved around THEM and THEIR mission that it gave barely any room to allow other party members to grow at an equal pace (lookin at Dromarch and Mòrag). that blanket theme of finding one’s place in the world and accepting yourself and others was strong but ultimately, it sort of fell flat when the game tried so hard to set up romance between Rex/Pythra/Nia to convey that, as well as throwing their hands up in the air as far as Malos and Jin were concerned.
Addam is set up as a natural leader everyone admires, which would make it easy to see him as yet another Rex-type protag who’s just naturally good at everything and is shoved in our faces like “LOOK! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO LIKE HIM!!!” but he ultimately fails and despairs and doesn’t win. Torna was always set up to be a story about a group of people who failed in spite of everything but we can’t help but root for the heroes anyway even though we know what happens to them.
Torna is about a time when hope failed and people died. the main story is about a boy and a girl being together and like... sure? i just really appreciate how the relationships were built in Torna in comparison— Addam treats Mythra more like a sister or daughter, Jin and Lora are devoted to each other without it being gushy or mushy, and Hugo’s purely professional with Brighid and Aegaeon. it shows that a good story doesn’t need a bunch of romcom elements to be captivating, while xc2 leaned too hard on Rex being the guy that girls fall for cuz he’s... nice.
Rex isn’t necessarily a bad character. he’s normal, he’s kinda greedy, and he’s unconditionally kind and supportive. but when the narrative solely revolves around him he becomes extremely tiring and downright bland, when they keep emphasizing how he’s perfect for the Aegis because of how special and nice he is. Torna circumvented that problem by weaving all these characters together to be about Addam wanting to save people, Lora just trying to live her life and help others, Jin’s devotion to Lora, and everyone else banding together for a common cause.
2/10 we should’ve been able to visit temperantia and mor ardain tho

Torna thoughts ( so far )
So far it doesn’t look like Addam and Mythra had much of a romantic relationship ( more so Addam being the big brother / dad figure ) and I’m 100% okay with this. Like this is what I wanted. I wanted them to be just good friends ( not for any particular reason but just because it seemed to fit better to me ).
BUT HAZE BEING JEALOUS LORA USED JIN MORE THAN HER. HAZE MY DEAR IF I GET YOU AS A BLADE I PROMISE YOU WILL BE TREATED LIKE A QUEEN.
Though Mythra’s more of a “catty bitch” in Torna than she is in XC2. Aegaeon is legit the Dromarch of the group / tired old man.
Mikhail was surprisingly very depressing as a kid. Milton’s a snarky kid shit.
MYTHRA WAS A BAD COOK I FUCKING KNEW IT. THEY CENSORED HER COOKING.
Lora’s dad is an enemy and hella abusive??? I wanna beat on this abusive dad because HOLY FUCK. Also Lora’s mom is dead and this saddens me. The whole scene kinda grabbed my heart cause I love my mom a lot too. FUCK LORA’S DAD THOUGH. FUCKING BASTARD. I HAVEN’T GOTTEN TO SEE HIM AS “BLADE-EATER” YET. THIS IS LIKE MUMKHAR AND I REALLY FUCKING HATED HIM AND WANTED TO SEE HIM DIE BRUTALLY.
Amalthus you’re still a fucking bastard.
Minoth’s okay.
Brighid was a bit sassier when Morag isn’t her driver. I guess Morag stole some of her sass lol.
Gameplay’s fun. I’m invested in the story.
Though Lora you really should’ve ended your dad’s life when you could’ve. I mean it makes sense you didn’t want to because it’d stain the blood of the land your mother rests in but fucking... This bastard is a threat to society.
I’ve seen most of the flashbacks sequences from the first game play in color this worries me.
I heard you can finish this game at lvl 50 so- Must be short.

The moment he saw her, he was no longer the unshakable ruler of a proud Empire. He felt the full reality of his youth. When their eyes met, he simply became the young boy who had watched the World Tree burn… the boy that had felt the agony of believing he had sent his sister off to her death. But here she was before him… alive and whole. Her strong arms offered him shelter as they held him firmly against her chest. He could feel the tears stream down his cheeks, but all he could do was hold Mὸrag tighter and whisper her name over and over again. She was alive and the Imperial Blades of their youth stood proudly at her side. Aegaeon and Brighid.
His family was finally home.
This took... DAYS... I never appreciated how complicated Aegaeon’s and Niall’s designs are until now. Seriously, major kudos to the XC2 character designers. They all have so much detail! I’m dead.

Note
I'm working on getting all the XC2 Rare Blades to S rank trust & Aegaeon has a "crested the wave" line when hitting s rank, which has forced me to stop playing a moment to laugh way too hard. If there was a video compilation or something of their S rank quotes I'd ask if you had a favorite or something but I can't find one but instead I found a video of their quotes when you release all the (pre-dlc) Rare Blades & it hurt a bit lol
Come on the generic ones hurt enough
