Reading up on the history of American Idiot (album) and realizing exactly how revolutionary it was and I just have to yell about it for a hot second

So, before they started working on American Idiot, the band was having problems and they were thinking they were going to break up. But for a couple of reasons, they switched directions, most notably because they all felt strongly about the Iraq War and how it was manufactured by greed and warmongering from the Bush administration, which was amplified by the news media. I read a quote from Billie Joe Armstrong where he talked about how the news media was becoming "more of a reality show" than it was news, and he couldn't have been more right. In fact, that problem got worse, and now we're living in an era of rampant misinformation where everything is politicized to a point where just supporting human rights for marginalized people is considered controversial. The song American Idiot came out in 2004, and when Donald Trump first visited the UK at the beginning of his presidency, it was the top played song on every UK radio station, 12 years after it was released. Most things would be culturally irrelevant at that point.

When creating the album American Idiot, a lot of thought went into it - they had a very specific message in mind, and their goal was to send that message to youth. This is because they realized at some point that their fanbase was a bunch of teenagers, and even though they hadn't necessarily intended it that way, they suddenly had a platform with the youth of America and they decided they ought to do something good with it. The drummer, Tré Cool, said something along the lines of "I've never really liked the idea of preaching to kids, but I realized we don't really have a choice at this point." And I love that so much because like, so many people who get rich and famous just become completely out of touch, and when they get a platform, it's very easy to exploit that platform, influence them with terrible ideas, or encourage them to act in terrible ways for self-serving reasons (ex: JK Rowling, Andrew Tate, Dream, Logan Paul, Onision, etc etc). Green Day refused to allow themselves to get to that point. They know the platform they had gave them power and they made an active choice early on to be responsible with it. And a lot of that moral code comes from the fact that they came up in the DIY punk scene in Oakland, which held its members to a very high standard of ethics, a code that they still follow even after they were disowned by that scene when they signed on with a major record label in 1994.

The song American Idiot has a message of "this mass media hysteria is manufactured bullshit, don't fall for it," and it is not subtle about that message. It punches you right in the face. I remember being 12 years old and listening to it and thinking, "yeah, I don't want to be an American idiot." And now, at the age of 28, I am a staunch leftist who is firmly against the atrocities the US government commits, and I feel strongly about stopping misinformation. So I can say with absolute certainty that they succeeded.

I also get like, really upset when people say that American Idiot is the album where they sold out, because that's objectively not true, both for the reasons I've provided above, and also because of the song Wake Me Up When September Ends. Not a lot of people know the story behind this song, but it's actually a song that Billie Joe wrote about the experience of his dad dying of cancer when he was 10 years old. The story, as he tells it, is that when he came home from school, his mom gave him the news, and being (understandably!) upset, started crying, ran to his room and slammed the door. When she knocked on the door to try and talk to him, he shouted "wake me up when September ends!!" in response. It took him decades to be able to write this song, and it shows because it's the perfect grief song, having been played at benefits for 9/11, hurricane Katrina, and so on. The first time I heard that song it reduced me to tears, because you can hear the intense sadness in it. A "sellout" would never write a song like that!! (Side note: maybe stop tweeting at Green Day to wake up every October 1st, it's super tone deaf given the subject matter,,,)

Anyway, I think I'm done being autistic about Green Day (that's a lie, they'll forever be my special interest), so TL;DR:

The police don’t get involved for internet related stuff most of the time, but what Lily did to Sunny, Courtney, and many others is well beyond her already very filled record of internet stuff. Could it be possible to get charges on Lily surrounding that?

Sunny still falls under "internet stuff" in the eyes of law enforcement, and Courtney's experiences happened so long ago that the only thing close to evidence he could realistically get would be a therapist confirming that she has trauma relating to CSA. And even that is more abstract than hard physical proof so that's still a gamble.

Lily is on the same level as people like Onision. It took years, a ton of public exposure, and Chris Hansen himself stepping in before anyone took any of the disgusting shit Onision did seriously. And yet he's still not in prison.

Hypnotist Sappho is another example. She has proudly declared she's a zoophile, proudly displays her nauseating "relationships" with young teenagers (the audio I've heard will make you want to scrub your skin off to feel clean again), she tried to set up an entire nonprofit "zoophile rights" organization, and she has websites that openly tell people how to hide illegal material. She's been reported to authorities numerous times. Still not in prison.

Kero the Wolf has a ton of chats, audio, video, and public forum posts detailing the unspeakably horrific things he's done to animals. He's a proud zoosadist beyond a shadow of a doubt. He was actually investigated by authorities. Still somehow not in prison and he's still online today smugly talking about how he's starting a new chapter and every PROVEN accusation against him is a baseless hate campaign.

People get away with far, far more disgusting shit than it seems a lot of people learning about Lily realize. Law enforcement is not obligated to give a shit. Law enforcement is not obligated to actually enforce anything, regardless of whether there's undeniable evidence shoved in their faces.

What people are arguing is that it's incredibly concerning for a therapist to publicly reveal things told to her in confidence. The thought process is if she’s willing to do this incredibly unethical thing in public, what is happening behind closed doors?

She always toes the line of legality and pulls the Onision thing of "well it's not illegal." But it is certainly unethical and disgusting for a therapist to do. She cannot have her cake and eat it too. She cannot use her license as a badge of authority while acting unhinged and expect to get away with it.

Why do you bother to look at lily orchard opinions on everything ? I had never heard of her before, but from your posts and screenshots she seems like the kind of person I'd simply avoid.

It is understandable and I’m not upset. Mainly I just watch video essays while I’m at work. I’ve known about her before as she does have infamously terrible opinions but there’s been a lot more stuff abt her showing up recently bc of allegations coming out against her

I continue to watch the videos discussing her opinions and countering them bc 1. I’m a hater at heart I think 2. I actually rly like debate. Not that lily orchard is doing anything to actually have an active debate but I think making arguments against a point helps with understanding the subject more and gives a better appreciation for the subject. Example would be someone countering her arguments against Steven universe might lead to a better appreciation for Steven universe

I’ve been talking abt her on my blog mainly bc I’m a yapper and I worry if I bitch too much abt her to friends I’ll annoy them (or I’m already annoying them). Does y'all's dead pets visit you in your dreams? Like sometimes my dog, Red, comes to see me in my dreams. She never tells me anything, she just does her thing. I'm always happy to see her but I always ask her how she got permission to see me. She just gives me a look like this.

I pet her for a bit, as one does. She's always with her sister, who's still alive. And it's in my room or near by like the hall way. The first time she's visited me was right after she died, and I've had maybe 4 visits from her. It's always the segment of the dream before I wake up. Anyone have interpretation? I feel like I should check on someone.

Official Statement: 8 Passengers Arrest

I heard about 8 Passengers getting arrested for "aggravated child abuse." I do not condone any of their behavior. I'd like to make it clear that family channels have had this problem for years. People have put together full-length video essays on this channel alone. Many people have spoken out against them and they were not listened to.

The police and CPS didn't listen until a child was crawling out of a window with duct tape on their limbs. There were several people, including relatives, that reported 8 Passengers to both the cops and CPS. This has been going on for years.

YouTube needs to do an investigation into their creators. This is a pattern and YouTube is not doing anything about it.
