学会が終了した翌日も、一日中のツアーを予約。Ring of Kellyというリアス式海岸を見に行くツアー。また午前中には1930年代にアイルランド初の国立公園に認定された保護区へ行く。国立公園では馬車に乗る。GeraldというPennStateの院生が偶然、私と同じバスツアーを予約していた。彼から学会で見かけたと、マジできれいな日本語で話しかけられて、一緒に座ろうと誘ってもらったので、喜んで一日をGeraldと共に過ごす事にする。Geraldは尾道で英語の先生もしていたらしい。西谷啓二や西田を読んでいるらしく、西田の絶対矛盾的自己同一を持参していた。

NYのBrooklyn出身。カリブ系らしい。日本語を熱心に勉強しているようで、二年も日本に行っていないよいう割に上手な日本語で哲学について語る。私も基本英語で日本語を混ぜて話しつつ、楽しい時間を過ごさせてもらった。景色は、素晴らしいのだが、様々な緑色が延々と続き、羊がいる。美しい、ピクチャレスクな風景だった。アイルランドは英語なのが良い。何をするのも楽だし、カトリックなので御飯がとても美味しい。お魚も美味しい。っつーか、ドイツは終わっちょる。魚どころか肉も上手に料理できない。

ツアーを終えてCorkに戻ったら8時前だったので、Geraldが行って見たかったフレンチ・ビストロに行こうと誘ってくれた。彼も今週末のエディンバラの学会にも参加予定らしく、私がDublinで遊んでいる間はLondonで遊んでいるらしい。ビストロではフランス人達が料理を作っているので、garconにもフランス語で喋って喜ばれる。フランス人も大人しくなったもんだ。昔はフランス語話すのが当たり前やろ、という偉そうな態度だったが、最近のフランス人はしおらしい。Geraldは鴨のコンフィ。私はベビーバックリブ。

今日は朝、Cork大学まで散歩し、Kasulis先生と一緒に歩いた坂道で涙する。私が大好きな先生達がお年を召していくのは悲しい。お昼の電車を予約して、Dublinまで電車で移動する。Corkは連日、半袖を着ていないといけない位、とても暑かったが、Dublinは小雨で寒い。駅からタクシーでホテルまで行く。アイルランド式のしっかりしたIrishBreakfastを食べており、お昼を食べなかったので、夜ご飯は早めに取ることにして、ホテル近くのミシュラン、ビスグルマンの店へ予約無しで行ってみる。すると6時過ぎだったから入れてくれる。オススメのステーキは全てが完璧だった。AgedBeefのfilletなのだが、ミディアム・レアの焼き加減、付け合せのサラダといい、ポテトフライといい、ソースといい、全てが完璧。

しかし。デザートはあり得ない。マジか。。。というレベルのデザート。

レモンタルトは、クレームブリュレのように表面をバーナーで焼いてあるのだが、これが焦げているし、ブタンガスの臭いがする。ウェイトレスが即刻気づき、同じ物を持って来てくれるのだが、微妙だな。。。と思っていると、他のデザートに変えてあげると、シュークリームを持って来てくれた。でも。。。ベムちゃんが大好きだったビアード・パパのシュークリームの方が美味しいやん。。っていうレベル。ハウス持ちだと言ってくれるが、デザートを3皿作らせたので、チップをかなり弾んでおく。そんな太っ腹なことをしても、ハンブルグよりは安いように感じた。せしめて12000円程度の夕飯でした。昨晩の5600円の夜ご飯の2倍を払うとミシュランのビブグルマンで食べられるのだが、むぅ。悩む。ミシュランって、何なん?でも、明日はお目当てのミシュランスターで昼食を食べる予定。今日は定休日だったのよね。

明日はダブリン市内観光。明後日は悩んだが、ケルト文化の遺跡を見に行くツアーを予約した。明々後日は朝早い飛行機でエジンバラ飛ぶ。

We had the most amazing steak dinner on our penultimate evening in Málaga; it was the perfect way to begin saying goodbye to a town we've thoroughly enjoyed exploring. Asador Ovidio sells aged steaks that are hand cut and cooked to order. You can see some of their aged meats in the front window of the restaurant, which is what initially caught our eye as we were walking by days before. Am I ever glad my wife “made” me cook tonight. I did this Picanha super low and slow. I went at around 200F for 3 hours, until I had an internal temp of 135F.
