It was rare that you had awful days at work. Sure, you didn’t love your job, but it wasn’t terrible. You actually found working in a coffee shop quite comforting; the ambience was always perfect, as were your usual customers that greeted you with a smile and asked for their usual, not to mention the fact that the free, caffeinated drinks were definitely a perk. However, no job was perfect, and there were days like today that made you just want to curl up in a blanket and hide from everyone and everything, save for one special person. 

Ever since you had told your boyfriend, Colby, about your littlespace last year, your life has drastically changed for the better. No longer was your littlespace something you shoved down in fear. Instead, you willingly accepted your inner child and actually looked forward to coming home from work and enjoying some carefree tiny time. Colby or “Coco” as your little self called him, was nothing short of an amazing caregiver. You were spoiled beyond belief and loved unconditionally, both on your good days and on your bad ones. 

You smiled fondly at the memory, closing the door behind you as you stepped into you and your boyfriend’s shared apartment. Once inside, the exhaustion hit you like a train. You set your tote bag down and leaned against the door, closing your eyes and taking deep breaths as you slipped off your shoes. You knew you needed to shower and change, especially after the shipment of milk had spilled on you at the beginning of your shift, but right now, all you wanted was Colby. 

You pattered towards his home office, silently hoping he was home. You were always thankful that your boyfriend (and built-in caregiver) had such a flexible career and schedule that made your littlespace so much easier. You quietly pushed open the door, smiling when you saw Colby sat at his computer, headphones on and editing a video.

With the career path that he had picked, Colby had become incredibly in tune with his senses and turned his office chair around as you crept closer. “Hey baby,” he hummed, sliding the headphones off and hitting pause. “How was work?”

You turned your nose up at the question, instead opting to plop down in his lap. Colby chuckled, running his hands across your hips lightly, allowing you to snuggle into his strong chest. All was quiet for a moment until he spoke again. 

“Sweetheart, I love you, but what is that smell?” he asked gently. 

You sighed, shifting in your boyfriend’s lap. “Work sucked. A shipment of milk spilled all over me at the start of my shift, and then two people didn’t show up with no call out, and then all the customers were in a bad mood for some reason.”

Colby frowned at your distress, hating to see you in any type of pain or discomfort. “I’m sorry, honey.”

“Not your fault.” You mumbled, fisting your eyes. 

Colby’s caregiver “spidey senses” kicked in with the motion. “Does someone need some little time?” he teased gently, tickling your sides. 

“Noooo,” You whined, cheeks blushing. “I’m a big girl. You know that.”

“So what I’m hearing is you don’t want a bubble bath and mac n’ cheese for dinner.” he laughed. 

“No, Coco! I changed my mind!” You shrieked and giggled as he started tickling you. 

This was part of your and Colby’s typical caregiver/little dynamic. You both had always been fun-loving and silly, and that transferred over to your new dynamic too. After the laughs had settled down, Colby tapped your hip to stand up, stretching and yawning once you had gotten up off his lap. 

“C’mon, bub. Let’s get you in the bath before dinner.”

Your caregiver led you to your connected bedroom and bathroom, starting some warm bath water while you picked out a pair of pajamas from your dresser. Colby smiled when you returned to the bathroom, proudly brandishing a pair of Eeyore footie pajamas. You grinned and giggled as your “Coco” added bubble bath and a few rubber ducks to the water, before gently helping you undress and get into the tub. One of the things you loved about Colby was that he never took advantage of bath time like some of your previous caregivers had. He was simply there to help you relax and get clean. 

You could feel yourself slipping with every passing second as your caregiver gently washed your hair, allowing you to play with the bath toys. By the time Colby drained the water and wrapped you in a towel, you were completely in your headspace, giggling softly. 

“Now you’re all wet!” You giggled as you wrapped Colby in a bear hug. 

Your coco chuckled as he helped you into your pajamas, beginning to brush your hair softly. “That was your bathtime, baby girl. Not mine.”

Once you were all done in the bathroom, Colby hoisted you onto his back, carrying you to the kitchen. He sat you down on the kitchen island, allowing you to watch with wide eyes as he began to pull out ingredients for dinner. 

“Nuggets, grilled cheese, or mac n’ cheese? Your choice, princess.” he offered with a smile. 

“Mac n’ cheese!” You cheered. 

Colby smiled, immediately beginning to start the water for the pasta. It was nights like these that reminded him how lucky he was that you were willing to share such a vulnerable part of yourself with him. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he saw that you had slid off the counter and decided to insistently pull on his shirt. 

“Coco?”

“Yeah, hun?”

“‘M gonna color you af’ dinner.” You insisted, face completely serious. 

“Are you now?” he smiled fondly. 

“Mhm!”

Colby smiled, dishing you out some mac ‘n cheese, along with broccoli for a vegetable, onto a child safe, Minnie Mouse themed plate. “Here you are, princess.”

You and your caregiver ate dinner at the kitchen table in companionable silence, simply enjoying the peace that came with nights like these. Both of you had been through quite a bit in your young lives, and your regression healed not only yourself, but your boyfriend as well. 

“Alright, baby. Coco’s gonna clean the kitchen. Can you get your markers out to color me for when I’m done?”

You nodded eagerly, dashing off to where you kept your toys and art supplies. Your terrible day at work was now a distant memory, your little mind now focused on “coloring” Colby instead. Ever since you had seen a Tiktok of someone coloring in their boyfriend’s tattoos, your little self had been fascinated with the idea and had insisted on coloring in Colby’s tattoos with markers whenever you got the chance. You grabbed your pack of markers and plopped down on the couch, eagerly waiting for your Coco. 

Once your caregiver had finished cleaning, he came into the living room with a smile, sitting beside you on the couch. “Have at it, princess.” he grinned. 

You didn’t need to be told twice. You immediately uncapped a pink marker and began to color in the intricate designs of Colby’s ink, tongue poking out the side of your mouth in concentration. Colby hummed happily, simply enjoying the feeling of your small body pressed against his own and the gentle glide of the marker across his skin. 

“All done!” You announced after about thirty minutes.  

Colby sat up from his position on the couch, grinning widely at the tattoos on his arm that were expertly colored in with Crayola washable markers. “It looks beautiful, baby girl.” he assured you. 

You quickly capped your markers, tossing them to the side and bounding into your caregiver’s lap. “I love yous, Coco.”

Colby smiled, nuzzling into your hair and pressing a kiss to your head. “And I love you, little angel.”

With a heavy heart, your fingers traced the same piano note over and over again. The sound was monotonous, a stark contrast to the busy and lively world of your recent world tour. Now, back in your New York City apartment, life seemed dull and uneventful. It was even more glum now that you were alone, with no one to share your thoughts and experiences with.

You sat hunched over the piano, staring at the black and white keys in front of you. Your eyes had a distant glare, as if lost in a deep and melancholic reverie. The city sounds outside seemed muted and far away, as your mind was stuck on pause. Every memory felt like it was on repeat, playing over and over again.

In this moment of isolation, all you could do was sit and reflect on the ups and downs of your career, the highs and lows of fame. The emptiness inside seemed to grow with each passing moment, until it consumed your whole being. You were trapped in a bubble of loneliness, yearning for human connection but unable to break free from the walls surrounding you.

Charles had been your partner for five years. When you were first rising to stardom in the music world, you received an invitation to perform the national anthem at a prestigious Formula One race. As you stood on the track, your heart pounding with nerves and excitement, you caught sight of Charles, one of the esteemed drivers. The connection between you was immediate, a spark of recognition and attraction that lit up the air around you like fireworks. Being on tour was a necessary distraction, a way to keep your mind off of things. Yet as you lay in yet another unfamiliar hotel room, the same thoughts still haunted you. The rooms all looked different, but they were all characterized by the same sterile and impersonal feeling. The only thing that used to make them feel like home was the sound of Charles' voice on the phone. You would talk for hours, often until you drifted off to sleep, so even though you were physically alone, you never felt truly lonely.

Despite releasing a new single, the public still didn't have the full story of what happened between the two of you, and why you had broken up. With Charles choosing to remain silent in the media, you were left to navigate through it all on your own. It was a daunting task, trying to piece together your relationship and figure out where it went wrong without any input from him. But you refused to let his silence define your story.

Throughout your life, anxiety had been a constant shadow, lurking around every corner and following you wherever you went. It wasn't until a year ago that you finally sought help and medication for it. During this time of struggle, Charles was your unwavering rock, always there to hold you up and support you. this is me trying: This song is the beginning of the end. Y/N is clearly struggling mentally and is pleading to be understood that they are simply doing the best that they can do. It is a desperate call for affection and is riddled with self doubt. After such a long relationship, Charles could have begun to crack, and Y/N is trying to keep it all together. 

wildflower: This is clearly about Charles’s past girlfriend. He dated her for many years, and was speculated to be one of Y/N’s friends. The lyrics depict her struggling to get past the thought that Charles is actually over his old girlfriend, and she feels terrible about “betraying” her to date Charles. Further in the song the lyrics showcase that Charles clearly loves Y/N, but again her internal battle prohibits her from seeing the truth in their relationship as things seem to break further. 

champagne problems: This is the breaking point. Shocking to fans everywhere, this song reveals that Charles proposed to Y/N, but due to her already detailed mental struggles and anxieties, the commitment was too much for her to bear. The melody and lyrics are filled with regret and a tinge of shame for not being able to commit to Charles, no matter how much she loved him and vice versa. 

chloe or sam or sophia or marcus: The aftermath of it all, she details that even though she cannot commit to marriage with Charles she still loves him deeply and wishes that they could still be together. This caused fans to piece together that after she said no to the proposal, Charles ultimately cut things off.

The night he proposed in Monaco, the city where your love had blossomed and thrived, was etched in your mind with crystal clarity. But as the dinner neared its end, you noticed his fidgeting and asked him if he was okay. Suddenly, he stood up from his chair and sunk down on one knee next to you. Your heart skipped a beat, and everything seemed to slow down as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.

Your throat constricted as sweat formed on your palms. The words caught in your throat, refusing to come out. This wasn't how it was supposed to happen - not here, not now. Marriage was never a topic of conversation between you and Charles, but suddenly it felt like an inevitable future staring you in the face at this dinner table. You weren't ready for this.

a/n: ahhhh omg you’re so sweet! Although it isn’t that important to the story, I based this fic on “begin again” by Taylor Swift. Hope you enjoy!

cw: predeveloped relationship between Sam and reader, confession of love. Mention of adult sexy time 😉 but nothing explicit. Slight angst into sickly sweet fluff. Reader is insecure, with mentions of past relationship and friendship struggles.

You tried to deny it, you really did. But walking hand in hand through town on a cold fall day the realisation hits you that you are inexplicably, irreversably in love with Sam. You’ve been together for a few months now, but honestly it was only really a casual relationship built on messy hookups and an innate need for physical affection. And even if Sam thought it was anything different you never intended to get very far with it after the last few years of your life. You escaped to Stardew valley to forget men, with their stupid player attitudes and outlook on relationships. Truthfully, you were perfectly happy with just becoming some single weirdo for the rest of your life. But this golden retreiver of a man just makes you so happy, blushing like a school girl and heart racing faster than ever before.

The mere thought of how down bad you are for him causes a shiver down your spine, and not just some small one but one that makes you physically shake. “Cold?” He asks, looking down to you with his bushy eyebrows furrowed. Without another word he takes his flannel off and wraps it around your shoulders, patting them with his big hands and grinning like a buffoon before holding your hand once more.

Honestly you didn’t even need it, but the way he thinks he’s some sort of knight in shining armor always stops you from protesting. You arrive at the town’s playground, a shabby swingset attached to a slide that’s cracked and rusted at the joints. It sure isn’t some masterpiece, but it does the job of entertaining the town’s children on the weekends. And Sam apparently, who lets go of your hand and leaps onto the swing. The scoots back in order to get enough momentum as possible and flies into the air, his blonde mop of hair flying off with him.

“Woo!! Join me?” You just chuckle, but join him nontheless, swinging much softer than he is but with the same pleased expression. The two of you swing in silence for a bit, with him enjoying the moment and you dreading it. How could you have let yourself go back to your old ways? It may seem great now, but in your head you already can see him confessing to cheating or breaking up with you because he’s bored. “So, you know the saying when pigs fly?” he asks. “Do you think we could actually make them fly? Like genetically modify wings on them and teach them like baby birds?” To the normal individual this seems like an idiotic question, but you’re used to his antics so you don’t even blink and respond casually with a “I hope not. Then I’d have to deal with trying to fish mine out of the sky every night when they need to go to the barn.” To this Sam laughs, throwing his head back as if you just said the funniest thing ever.

You don’t really think your very funny, and you never did. In school you were always the quiet kid, not because you are quiet but because you didn’t have many friends. Therefore, you just built yourself up to other things. You may not be funny, but your reasonably pretty. And smart, you did okay in school.

But Sam just makes you feel like the funniest person to ever exist, laughing at your words even when you don’t attempt to be funny. It makes you feel… nice.

Stuck in your thoughts though you unfortunately fail to conceal yourself once more, Sam realising the way you just completely ignore his following statements with a glossy look behind your eyes. “Babe, you alright?” He enquires, ceasing his swinging immediately to return to your level. You look up at him and smile softly, sighing. He had to realise sooner or later, and you couldn’t hide it from him anyways.

“Sam?” You ask, turning in the swing so the chains intertwine and you face him. He mirrors your movements, scooting so your knees are now touching. The warmth makes you uncomfortable in this moment, but you would never pull away from him. “If I say something weird… would you judge me?” Once again his eyebrows crease at your words, fearlessly shaking his head. “Of course not! Why?” That pit in your stomach grows until you feel sick, the words failing you as you look down at his jeans, which is all you can manage at this moment. “Your not breaking up with me are you?” The way his voice cracks almost brings a tear to your eye, internally cursing yourself for paining him so much. How could you do this to such a sweet, innocent man?

“No no no I just…”

“Did I do something wrong?”

“No Sam but I need to-“

“If you have an issue just say it I can handle it”

“I know you can its just hard cause-“

“Is this because I ate your pasta  the other day? Cause I thought you wouldn’t mind and I’m happy to-“

“Sam I’m in love with you.” The words rush out of your mouth like daggers, despite the sweetness they’re usually associated with. Every fibre of your being is fighting with one another, some parts happy the secret is out and others despising the pit you’ve fallen into. Yet you continue. “I think I’ve felt this way for a little bit, but I tried to hide it. I hate it, but I can’t anymore. You just make me so happy Sam, and I don’t know whats wrong with me. You drive me mad. I wake up thinking about you, and I fall asleep with the same thoughts. I imagine you moving in with me, marrying me and raising my kids. I feel insane Sam, but I can’t help it anymore. You don’t have to feel the same way, and don’t feel obligated to say anything. But I love you. I really do.”

A silence lingers in the cold air, flowing around like the brown and yellow leaves that fall onto the floor limply. You now get the courage to study his face, and every freckle and imprefection seems like it always has. If this is how the two of you are going to end, you don’t mind. You’ll still have every detail of his body engrained in your mind, along with how his face looks in this very moment. It looks as if he’s brain is about to explode, simultaneously going through every option and pathway that lead to this moment.

His deep blue eyes look up and connect with yours, piercing into your soul as if he’s reading you like a book. Finally he breaks the silence, a sympathetic smile adorning his cheeks. “I love you too.”

It takes you a moment to process his words, and just as it fully sinks in he envelops you in a hug. You begin to beam, heart beating like never before. Did he really just say that? The two of you simultaneously laugh, your hands palming his back and melting into his warmth. “Really?” “Duh! How could you think I didn’t? I literally spent my whole pay check the other day buying you flowers! And you know I hate flowers! And what about the time I wrote a six page card for your birthday, detailing everything about your face? I hate writing!” Despite the tears that threatened to leak out of your eyes previously you now cannot stop laughing, in disbelief of his words.

Sam tucks his head down into the crook of your neck, kissing it over and over again through smooshed words of “I love you” that vibrate on your skin, any prior discomfort flooding away under his touch. You smell like him, feel like him and breath like him, hands digging into his jumper out of pure extacy. Sam lifts you up by the thighs to put you on his lap, arms safely keeping you still ontop of him, and still kissing your neck and collarbone.

“I love you Sam.” “I love you too.” Despite the cold, grey of the sky and the muddy puddles below you everything feels perfect, in a bountiful fall you could never forget.

I just finished TVL for the first time and I'm so enamoured. Lestat is just so much in the best way. But what a mess of trauma his early life, both human and vampiric, was. Magnus when I catch you.. His relationship with Nicki is so beautiful and ultimately heartbreaking. There is so much love there but it's hard for two people both struggling with different kinds of mental illness to be able to help each other. Gabrielle is incredible. I can't wait to see her portrayed next season. And oh my god Armand. Armand Armand Armand. I love him. I'm looking forward to seeing Assad do those scenes with Sam. I love Lestat and Armand together. I love their antagonism as well their immediate attraction and strange love. Part of me wishes that I could see what a love story of theirs could look like. I struggled getting through Marius's chapter just because it got a little dry but omg Lestat waking up Akasha was just peak Brat Prince behavior. Ofc the brief rehash of Interview confirmed some things for me especially about Claudia and Louis. And finally the reunion had me in tears and then laughing at the "You will *lose* that sweater and those pants" line. And of course the ending was just devastating. Anyway there is so much here. I really feel like it needs 2 seasons or 1 long one. And reading it, I really hope that they get Lestat's voice right because one thing I noticed about his narration is how so much of the time his words are dripping with love and empathy. It makes him a particularly fascinating monster because he is definitely a monster. I hope that they hit that note. I'm curious to see who they will pick for Akasha too but I haven't read QotD yet to have an opinion. Have high hopes and expectations now for Season 3. Ah and one more thing I need for sure is animal lover Lestat with his mastiffs and the horses in the stable. God there is so much I want them to adapt. The Witches Place and Wolves and Lestat offering to cut Gabrielle's hair. Do you have any scenes that you are dying to see?

All I can say after the update is… Tobin I will take your hand in marriage IMMEDIATELY. Tobin is the only IF RO that makes my heart go pitter patter thump thump drum drum beep beep <3 I adore them. THE LOCKER ROOM SCENE. The honest conversations with MC about their new relationship with their own queerness. The delicious ~sexual tension~ during and after the match 😭 i could spend an ETERNITY reading Tobin’s scenes and it would still never be enough of them. ty for their creation and for the options in this update for MC to simp a lil over them lmao they deserve it

And SAM don’t think I forgot about you and how fun/adorable it was to see you immediately become the hall’s favorite. Can’t wait for the rest of the weekend, MC/Sam bestie time, and that damn confession *shakes fist* hand over that heart of yours, o’connelley. It’s time.

also I love how all the ROs have such varying reactions in regards to jealousy (but did I have to read them in the code because I refuse to hurt Tobin or Sam EVER, yes. Yes I did). MC sweating over Sam and G interacting while G is cool as a cucumber was very funny, and so was Rayyan’s curt poutiness. Tobin and Sam both swallowing how they feel in their own ways was P A I N F U L.

anddd I know writing the matches, especially for doubles, must be an unbelievable amount of work but it genuinely pays off because all the different variations are so fun to play each time. I’m on the edge of my seat for every match

I love love love that you enjoyed the Tobin scenes (and the convo about their queerness, it will be explored a little more as the relationship unfolds--if it does--and I am beyond excited to get to explore that further, especially with someone as mature, but new, to their sexuality as Tobin!)

MC can jokingly say to Tobin in the locker room that kissing them is life changing, but that's more true than they suspect!

And as for Sam being immediately folded into the hallmate gang... I'm sure no one is surprised ;) and yes it's going to be a weekend of laughs/fun/possibly a bit of angst! Sam's confession.... hopefully they gear up the courage and bite the bullet already!! (They can certainly tell theyre not short of competition at Cargill 👀)

And as for the varied jealousy reactions... God there's more variation in there than I think most people will get to experience, but worth it I think, because each character is so different, and approach relationships with the MC so differently! I hope it yields new scenes and new nuances each time folks play a slightly different romance route :)

Finally, writing the tennis matches always take much longer than I myself expect them too--and I always end up wondering if I've gone into too much detail/made them too long, but each time I'm like nah it's a significant match! Except I've been saying that about every match so far (save for maybe the Deepal match). I think so far the feedback has been that people appreciate the variation and the length of the matches and that they continue to feel thrilling, but I promise to keep calibrating them as I write!

Summary: You show up at Tara's apartment to apologize. Will she accept it or will she let you go and move on?

a/n: AHHHH! I finally got around to writing this! I tried to make it as real as possible (the headache bit I'm not sure, i don't get those). Anyways more to come i hope! Anyways No Beta/proofread as always, we die like real writers

You let out a loud groan as you slowly sat up on your bed. You looked around confused as to how you got there. You flinched as a throbbing headache made itself known, your hands coming up to clutch the sides of your head. With great effort, you swung your legs over the side of your bed with one hand still clutching the side of your head as you used your other hand to brace yourself against the bed.

You staggered forwards as you gently pushed yourself off your bed. You looked around your apartment looking for clues as to what had happened while you wobbled towards the kitchen.

You leaned on the counter as you looked for something to relieve your headache. After a bit of searching and sorting through various cabinets you finally found a bottle of Tylenol. You quickly took 2 pills out of the bottle and dry swallowed them, your head painfully throbbing to be bothered to get a glass of water. You suppressed a cough as you feel the pills slowly sliding down your throat.

“Oh, fuck me!” You exclaimed as you almost choked on the pills.

With that, you quickly made your way to the living room and laid on the couch. You grabbed the remote and turned the TV on, hoping to ease the headache. The news channel started playing, all of your attention on the screen.

The reporter just finished the forecast when it showed a picture of a ghostface mask. You sat up on the couch, leaning forward as you hung by any word the reporter said. Your headache lay forgotten.

You jumped up as a picture was shown on the screen while the TV person reported her as dead. You immediately ran to your front door, swiftly grabbing your shoes and keys, before making your way out of the building.

You finally arrived at Tara's house. With a big breath, you raised your hand and knocked. This was it. It could either blow up on your face or you and Tara could make up (more like make out 🤭). It took a few moments before the door opened, revealing not Tara, but her sister.

“O-oh, hey Sam!” You managed to stutter out.

Sam stared at you up and down, her gaze calculating as if trying to figure out why you're there. “What do you want?”

“I-uhh… Is Tara here?” You asked, your mind blanking for a second.

Just before Sam could respond, a set of footsteps sounded before Sam was pushed out of the way. Tara was now standing in front of you, a glare on her face.

“H-hi!” You barely got out, your mind devoid of any thoughts but Tara as you stare at her.

“What is it?” She asked in a not-so-friendly tone.

The tone of her voice snapped you out of your reverie “I just- I just wanna say sorry and apologize for not checking up with anyone,” You said, surprisingly holding back your tears as you saw the flash of hurt in her eyes.

“Is that it?” Her voice was standoffish but her eyes said otherwise.

“And that I- I was sacred Tara! I didn’t know what to do! I could be the next victim for all I know!” You started pacing, still in front of their apartment door. Tears started to drip down your face. “I- I just wouldn’t be able to make it if- if…” You trailed off as you sat in front of the door, your back against the wall.

“If what?” Tara asked, her voice much softer as she leaned in front of you.

“If- if someone else answered..” You whispered, hoping she would get what you meant.

And of course she did. She was your girlfriend. She always gets you.

She wrapped you up in a hug with your face burrowed into her shoulder as more tears came out. One of her hands came up to stroke your head while the other rubbed your back.

“Shhh it’s okay, baby.” she whispered into your ear. “I didn’t know you felt this way, y’know you could’ve told me anything”

You nodded, your face still on her shoulder. “I came as soon as I heard.” You said, your voice muffled by her shoulder.

You both made it into the living room, just a few seconds before Sam. The TV was on and was on a news channel. The attack on Amber was currently being aired.

“That…” You breathed out, slightly toward Tara’s location.

But before anyone could speak anymore, Sam’s phone ran, startling the three of you in the room. Everyone was tense as she cautiously peeked at the phone to glance at the caller. Her stance calmed as she recognized who it was and picked the phone up to answer it. She walked out the room as she put her phone up to her ear leaving you and Tara alone in the room.

As soon as Tara sat down beside you, immediately turned toward her and engulfed her in a tight embrace. Tara kept moving under you and somehow, in both of your attempts at being comfortable, you ended up straddling her, your face shoved on the crook of her neck as you fist her shirt in your hands, not wanting to let her go.

It was a few minutes later when not only Sam, but the rest of Tara’s friends burst into the room. You tightened your hold on Tara as you peeked up and saw everyone.

You could feel Tara was about to say something but was interrupted by Sam,

I loveeeeee a younger pursuer character, especially when they've known each other for a while and the older is just like I love you kid (platonic/familial) while the younger is losing their mind with their crush/love/lust. I'm also liking the consequence of him moving away to a different country (for a few years?) because he's known Qian all his life and practically only talks to Qian, Lili, and sometimes people like San Pang or a classmate but he'll broaden his horizons now and it'll be less "he loves Qian because he only knows him"

The sex scene was like... what??? and I'm glad I was already aware of its issues because I would've gone beserk if I was watching this weekly for 10 weeks and got that in return wtf. The whole show relies on their emotions and inner conflicts but it felt like neither aspect was truly explored in the scene and made worsened with the horrific editing.

I'm so stressed out by office gossip even if it's like shippy/supportive. also the excited fujo character can sometimes work for me in high school/college shows because it's like young characters but this in an office is like. no. their family and friends can know but i don't need to see their coworkers finding out unless it's meant to be a point of conflict

are they insinuating Qian's the top/tiger? That does not go with what I want form this trope so I'm ignoring it lmfao I can do verse because I can almost always ship verse but with the younger-guy-deeply-in-love-with-and-madly-pursues-older-guy-who-is-resistant-and-conflicted trope, I like a younger top

but i think people were also annoyed about this suggestion of top Qian lmfao, I think I remember reading comments about it

The office discussion actually made me so uncomfortable, it was so inappropriate and unnecessary, why didn't we take that time to... just show at least a bit of the surgery and aftermath or whatever? Like that was such a huge thing in the past 2-3 eps but it just... disappears and we assume it was successful bc of the ending

Overall:

I'm so glad I got over my pseudo-incest brother-lover aversion because I can now watch this stuff in delight. Though I must say, my favourite aspect of this show is the little family trio with Qian, Yuan, and Lili, with San Pang occasionally invited as well. I loved how they cared for each other and how though Lili was left out of the romantic duo inside their trio, it didn't feel like she was forgotten or sidelined. They each had specific relationships with each of the other people, their interactions had their own flavours and it was so good.

The romance itself hm I think the development was nice, especially from Yuan's side since we saw how he thought of Qian and how he supported him and such. We also saw a bit of how Qian was so lost when Yuan was gone that even San Pang was wondering whether Qian liked Yuan and it would've been better if they hadn't sent him away. It just feels like since there was so much angst and build-up for like 10 episodes, their actual coming together should have been grander. The sex feels a bit sudden, I don't think it should've happened right after that conversation because Qian was barely ready to admit whether he saw Yuan as more romantically than just a brother, and then the editing of it all was terrible.

The surgery stuff also kinda dwindled, if they'd brought it up, I wished they would've at least shown the direct aftermath or whatever. I despised how we had the office Yuan/Qian gossip for so long in episode 12, we could've used it for better things. At least we ended with the Lili pregnancy announcement and coming together over that, which reminded me just at the end why I liked the show.

Some other things I really loved: 1) Qian's face, holy shit. Qian is so beautiful, like incredibly attractive to me, woah. Reminds me of Na Jaemin who I was also taken by when I stanned NCT; is it the lower half of their faces/their mouths? 2) The 2 scenes where Qian finds out Lili and San Pang are dating in ep 8 + finds out Lili's pregnant in ep 12 and just going to kill San Pang lol (also loved how Yuan was enjoying it in ep 8 but was helping San Pang and Lili out in ep 12 lol). 3) The episodes, especially the earlier-middle ones, were so addictive, I didn't end up reading the on-air reddit threads because I was too into watching the next ep instead of reading about it.

In the end, I don't think I'll think about it often, especially not the Yuan/Qian ship unless just to remember the brother-lover trope and even then, Kiseki's Chen Yi/Ai Di gave me more intense brainworms for a similar trope I think. I'm disappointed that I didn't love the show, its flaws are at moments that are too important. So deeply conflicted about whether to give 6 or 6.5, I'll go with 6.5 for now.

Hi, what do you think of the whole "Dubai is really explosive. Dubai really took me by surprise this season"? Jacob repeats it in every new interview, it's got to be something totally unexpected.

Well. They mixed up the books, event-wise I think, especially in Dubai. Some things have happened already, some, like Akasha, apparently haven't yet.

I think the surprise Jacob refers to here (this is me obviously guessing but it would make sense?!) is the end segueing into s3.

If we're really in Merrick-territory as theorized, then that comes with certain events. Rather cataclysmic changing-their-lives-forever events.

Now, Jacob said during s1 press that he doesn't think Louis is suicidal in Dubai. If we're really in Merrick then that would definitely contradict and it might have surprised him wrt his own take on the character.

I can easily see that being one of the "surprises" this season.

However, I do believe the writers managed to include more surprises... maybe we are totally off with the clues for now, and maybe the Dubai timeline is something totally different.

The "brute in Madagascar" still rings in my mind, and ... I wanna know who that is. Because I would bet real money that this is important in the long run^^.

But whichever way they spin it - I sure hope Dubai will be explosive!! I mean we have ARMAND there now! Armand. The little terror gremlin :)))) (I am heroically refraining from including the blender gif here btw^^, and just as a note it is proof of Assad just getting Armand just right that I can say this and actually see taller-than-Sam-Assad here ^^ He will do Armand justice.)

The dynamic will be quite different next season. We could already see that in the teaser trailer from SDCC.

And of course Daniel. Daniel, Louis' gift to Armand. Daniel who will continue to remember more and more (though that said, I can easily see the Devil's Minion arc play out over the whole series), and who will be a catalyst for quite a lot of things I think.

And then, of course... somehow Lestat will have to show up. Or be included for s3. In whichever way.

And depending on what Dubai actually is... that will carry its own explosive potential *laughs*

Nothing Jacob said really surprised me tbh, but it's so very exciting to read it all and know that they will be able to deliver on it, you know? The sheer tragedy of it all, the grandiosity, and the pain.

I’m at my wits end between; Rowan going on his “I’m not a worthy prince blah blah blah” bullshit, Aelin just slowly collapsing inside because of stupid old men politics, Elide teaming up with Lorcan (& whatever the hell is hunting them freaking me out), bb Evangeline & Fleetfoot having to say a TEMPORARY goodbye (still broke my heart💔), not knowing wtf Chaol & Nesryn are, Dorian almost dying every .5 seconds, & Manon 99% of the time but NOW ASTERIN… how is this chapter 11??? This feels like chapter 70 shit… HOW BAD IS CHAPTER 70 GONNA BE FOR IT TO ALREADY BE LIKE THIS… I miss the days of Rowaelin reuniting in Rifthold🥹… Remember when Dorian used to bring Celaena puppies & candy & the biggest issue was sneaking into a ball🥺
