it is very frustrating to see AI art on instagram get tens, even hundreds of thousands of likes and shares and views meanwhile art made by actual people that took hours upon hours of labor gets no attention at all. very soul-crushing reality that makes me want to give up on sharing my art
i miss ai image generators that suck. i want old artbreeder back so i can make flesh computers again. i want to tell the computer to make something that is 50% website and 50% swimming cap to get the Meat World back
In the hopes it doesn't sound weird for me to say: You feel like someone with a big heart
Not just in a "Haha simp" way, but someone who loves and cries and laughs with very real sincerity, be it for everyone to see or just on the inside... I could be wrong, but should I be even remotely accurate, promise me not to lose that energy. The world needs you more than you know
Stfu anon you're gonna get me gigly n shi *gay hand gesture*
ai art makes me so mad bro 😭😭😭😭 like yeah ai is a cool tool.. not for art though because it learns from uncredited artists and steals their shit for companies and other people to make a profit. not to mention that companies are slowly replacing actual jobs with said ripped off work made by the machines so that they don’t have to pay actual artists whatever. fuck ai art and ai writing forever :D
honestly my real opinion on ai is not even from an ethical standpoint. my opinion on ai is that because it isn't actually artificial intelligence that is a misnomer it's not intelligent and it doesn't think it is therefore just plain not good at most of what we're currently using it for outside of like hyperspecific applications that i know nothing about and never will. it simply can't do the job man.
I found a comic book store that sells AI art. What do you think I should do?
I am at a loss for what I should do in this situation. This post is intentionally vague because I do not want any hate going to the shop or the folks who work there. In the future, I might make a more detailed post about the situation, but for now, I'll just explain what happened:
Earlier today, I visited a small comic book and board game shop in my city. Looking through the shelves I noticed a small sticker placed on every game or book that included LGBTQ+ themes. The sticker was of a rainbow-colored bird tilting its head cutely at the viewer. As I walked through the shop, I spotted a larger magnet version of the rainbow bird image, and after close examination, I concluded that the image was most likely AI-generated. I couldn't know for sure, so I asked the person working the front desk: I asked them who had created the artwork of the rainbow bird I had seen all around the shop. They said it was a piece their colleague had commissioned from an artist in a different city. I said I was an artist, and I believed the piece was AI-generated, which was sad considering what the shop was selling. The worker responded that their colleague had done a whole back-and-forth process to create the piece with the artist, and I decided at that point that it was best not to push any further. I said that I hoped they were right and thanked them for their service before leaving the shop.
I have pictures of the art I believe is AI-generated, but I don't feel comfortable sharing them right now. Like I said, I don't want any hate or attacks going to this store.
My next course of action is to reach out to the store owners and ask them more about the rainbow bird piece. I want the store to remove the art and replace it with human-made work, but I am not sure how to make that happen. Please share your thoughts in the comments, tags, or reblogs. Thank you for reading!
OKAY BUT ONE OF THE THINGS I HATE ABOUT AI IS NOW PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR "LOGICAL INCONSISTENCES" AND "WEIRD CHOICES" IN IMAGES LIKE. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO REFRAIN FROM BEING FUCKING DERRANGED TO ENSURE PEOPLE KNOW MY ART IS MINE.
I GOT INTO A HEATED ARGUMENT WITH A FRIEND BECAUSE THEY SAID NO HUMAN WOULD EVER MAKE REALISTIC ART THAT MAKES NO SENSE (ex gay cats image which was ai generated but. like. if i could make photoshop realistic art i would totally make something like that) WHEN??? YES THEY WOULD???? AND THEY TRIED TO ARGUE THAT NO ONE WOULD MAKE ABSURD OR STRANGE CHOICES WITH ANATOMY OR COLOUR ON PURPOSE LIKE MOTHERFUCKER THE ENTIRE ABSURDIST MOVEMENT AND OUR CHILD SELF WANTS YOU DEAD
FOREVER THINKING ABOUT THAT ARTIST WHO TALKED ABOUT HOW THEIR ART OF TWO MERMAID PUPPIES KISSING GOT AI-CLAIMED BY PEOPLE DESPITE IT BEING HUMAN-DRAWN BECAUSE "WHY DO THE FINS LOOK WEIRD" AND "WHO WOULD DRAW THIS" AND HOW MUCH THAT HURT THEM
FOREVER NASHING MY TEETH. WHAT THE FUCK.
even in real people lmao "six fingers means it's an ai image" works all well and good until someone has polydactylism !!!! and actually HAS an abnormal number of fingers in real life!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hate this now everyone's hyper-anylazing everything all the time and critisizing things for being weird or unordinary and it doesn't even always work and can be counter-productive
Images of edgy wolves and skeletons with fire and lightning are intended to be made by AMATEURS IN PHOTOSHOP and PEOPLE WHO MAKE AIRBRUSH ART ON VANS AND NICHE CALENDARS, not AI!!!!
Whenever i see them made by ai slop it's like seeing one of those really terribly bred 'designer' pitbulls. Who did this to you, this is cruel. This is painful. You weren't made for this.
idk. My like. Actual day job involves a lot of needing to know how copyright laws relate to the use of stock images and reference images in art. Like, That is an entire part of the studio I work fors legal teams monthly emails about like documenting sources and such.
And I just saw a post that had a stock model who linked his ToC. I feel so bad for this dude bc like. I prefer to respect folks wishes when it comes to how their images are being used, but he was going Full legal jargon with warnings about contacting lawyers and what not.
and basically none of his ToC was actually legally enforcable. Some of it was Actually Extremely Illegal as it would be classed as like discrimination under relavant laws. Some of it was absolute nonsense, you like need signed contracts for some of this stuff not a DA page that says them, and like. Idk. It's clear he was coming from a place of self protection and I will not fault him for it or use his images but I Desperately hope he never actually tries to go to court over any of it because he Will lose, and he will be loosing Hard.
Damn das crazy @topsytop347 can't believe how good the AI generation of Clip Studio Paint timelapses was back in 2022, even showcasing characters drawn in each separate layer!
Anyways, don't baselessly accuse random small artists' work of being AI generated, not only do you look silly as hell but you also give a platform for people who hate artists to further bully folks for having specific styles (that were all fed into bots! Literally not their fucking fault their style was stolen!) or for just simply having imperfections in their works.
That was a genuinely insulting comment, really don't have much to say lol. Lmao even.
Here's the original post in question in case anyone's wondering what's the 'AI-looking' art we're talking about is: https://www.tumblr.com/nuclear-smash/693038436893999105/tragic-tale-of-michael-afton
i feel like i’ve been WAITING for the other shoe to drop wrt people’s opinions about watcher for this very reason. not that i think the reaction is completely not understandable but the greater the parasocial relationship, the greater the fallout as soon as public opinion shifts. you don’t have a relationship with these people they’re just content creators, chill
