There is so many sounds around Daeho. People talking, the sound of each syllable that leaves their lips, the sound of each breath they exhale, the sound of laughter echoing around walls and steps all around the city. There is nature, the wind passing through the leaves of each tree, the sound of water droplets falling along a waterfall, birds’ wings moving and stray cats jumping on roofs.
There is so many sounds around Daeho, yet you feel as if you cannot really hear any of them.
There’s a tornado around you— A storm. It is made of every sound and feeling and it swirls around but you cannot feel. It is like watching the world breaking apart but seeing it from another place.
Where are you really?
Your name echoes around you.
The sound of a voice, warm and familiar. Home. Yes, this must be home. The voice that holds you gently, brings you to peace and helps you stay alive.
“Come back.”
Seo Yul.
“You’re finally here!” Choyeon nearly cries, hurrying over to join her friends. Jang Uk, Seo Yul, and Park Danggu. She sighs and frantically looks around, as if checking if anyone could be watching, before leading them inside with a pull to Danggu’s hand.
“What happened? The maid said it was urgent.” Uk says calmly, clearly confused. Choyeon seems restless. Yul doesn’t want to think of the worst, because it could really be something that isn’t at all urgent. But there’s this slight hint of genuine fear in the girl’s eyes that makes him do it, think of the worst, even if for just a second.
“There’s… Something happened, they’re unconscious, and…” her words are clear but too fast to make sense and all that he catches is your name and the word unconscious. “It’s because I’m clumsy and all, but I really didn’t mean for this to happen—”
“Slow down.” Uk laughs in slight shock, “Unconscious?”
“What exactly happened?” Danggu steps in. The girl looks at him with arched eyebrows and upset painted all over her expression before she finally sighs and turns away.
“It’ll be easier if you see.” she says, then walks towards a more secluded part of the gardens near Songrim. It’s near a small lake and close to a large, abandoned study room. There’s bushes and flowers all around and it’s enough to make for a beautiful spot to get alone time. Or hide something.
Choyeon pushes the large doors open. The room really is abandoned. There’s old desks and chairs stacked at the sides and some of the windows have been left ajar. Yul coughs because of the dust the second he steps inside, before waving his hand around in the air and squinting. But then everyone stops in their tracks, so he looks at the center of the room and his eyes widen.
This might really be urgent.
“… What happened?” Yul finally speaks up for the first time since his arrival. He was fine with his friends asking questions because they were the same he had in mind— But the scene in front of him urges him to talk.
You’re standing up straight in the middle of the room, the fabric of your clothing flowing in every direction despite the clear lack of wind inside the room, your eyes are closed and you don’t look anywhere close to awake. The place is at a fairly normal temperature, but it’s like a storm has formed specifically around you, much colder than the rest. A striking red ribbon is held tightly between your fingers.
You seem so… Calm. Yul feels a discomforting chill running down his spine.
Choyeon sighs quietly, biting on her bottom lip while thinking. The silence that follows Yul’s question stretches out for a long while, everyone clearly trying to make sense of the sight in front of them. It seems clear the girl who knows anything about it is hesitant to speak. Yul moves a bit closer to her. “Choyeon. It’s okay.” he says softly. He tries to sound reassuring. She looks up at him and shakes her head. He frowns a little. “Jin Choyeon.”
“We can’t help if we don’t know how they ended up like this. Please get on with it.” Uk complains, though everyone present knows his tone is a bit more worried than it is irritated.
“They held the Soulmates’ Fabric.”
Yul tilts his head a little, puzzled. “Soulmates’…?”
“Fabric.” she repeats, then sighs. “It’s… To summarize it, it’s an artifact from the Jinyowon— The fallen lovers’ spirits possess it. People used this to check if their lover was their soulmate or not before a wedding. Two parties hold it, it’s… It’s a ribbon, and if they’re soulmates it will show the fabric of fate linking their pinkies.”
Yul glances at your hand and figures that’s the red ribbon in your hand. Such a small thing— It looks as if he could wrap it around his wrist maybe twice, like a bracelet. Cursed artifacts really are just anything.
Uk chimes in. “And if they’re not?”
“Nothing. The spirits just laugh in their faces.”
“And if only one person holds it?” Yul asks. Choyeon looks at him and gulps, before glancing away.
“Their soul is trapped in there.”
“And why… Did you even have this? Simple curiosity.” Danggu asks. Choyeon shrugs a bit dramatically and turns away. The man blinks a few times before his eyes widen in realization. He points his finger towards his own chest, “Us?!”
“Well, yes.”
Yul feels his patience wearing thin and closes his eyes to calm it. He looks at Choyeon, “How did they end up holding it?”
“It flew away from my grasp, they just tried grabbing it for me..” she says, holding up her hands— Covered by silk gloves, protecting her in a way you visibly weren’t blessed with. “The doors to this place were wide open so we ended up here.”
Yul glances at you and sighs. Something tells him solving this won’t be easy.
“How do we get their soul back in here?” Uk asks, pointing towards your body with his thumb.
Choyeon sighs, again. It’s clear she’d hoped to avoid this since her friends arrived, despite knowing she would have to say it if this was to be solved.
“Their soulmate needs to hold the other end of the fabric.”
“You’re kidding…”
“This could take ages.”
“I know!”
Yul can practically see how cold the storm around you is. He can practically feel the threat of death attached to your body, missing its soul. A vessel without a soul is bad news. Without its soul, the body does not take long to… Heavens, no. He takes a step closer to you and lets his friends’ arguing become background noise for a moment. You’re eerily still.
“Is it safe to move them?” he asks.
“I think, but the problem is more so actually managing to do it.” Choyeon replies, “The storm is stronger than you might think.”
Yul tries, anyway. He takes a step forward and moves his hands to hold you. His skin feels like it’s freezing the moment they enter the storm surrounding your figure, and it gets about ten times worse when he manages to grab ahold of your arms. The very fact that you’re enduring this makes him feel like he might lose his mind if they don’t find a way to stop it. He grinds his teeth and tries to pull, ignoring his friends telling him to quit it as well as the burning that the cold cuts him with, and keeps at it for at least thirty more seconds before he’s forced to stumble back.
This is bad, he thinks. He’d hoped your body wouldn’t be too affected by the cold because of its unnatural nature, but upon closer look, a lot of signs indicate you’re more than affected. Freezing much faster than a person ever should have been. Truly just a body with no soul.
Uk looks at him, hand firmly holding his shoulder after shoving him away from you. “You won’t have a hand to hold the fabric with, if you keep this up.” he says sternly. Yul glares a little and moves away from his hand.
“That would be a futile effort. I figure I’d only be trapping my soul, too.”
“I mean, would you?” Danggu asks, brows furrowing. The question is directed at Choyeon, now, who should clearly have more extensive knowledge on the whole thing, “Did the people who use this have to hold it at the exact same time or else one of them got trapped? That seems… Inconvenient.”
Choyeon shakes her head lightly and walks over to a table in the room. There, a large and old book about artifacts and customs sits on the surface. “There’s something they would recite. Like a… A spell. Or a poem, I think? I was too panicked to read all this, but… I think that’s what protected their souls from being taken if they weren’t linked to each other.” she explains, frantically going through the book. “But Yul is right. Since their soul is already trapped, him holding the fabric would only work if they’re sure to be soulmates.”
“Well, might as well try.” Uk scoffs, “Besides, who could it be if not Yul?”
The latter looks down and scoffs. His friends’ teasing on his very obvious fondness for you would usually not have much effect on him besides giving him mild embarrassment, but today it feels a bit different. The words sound sour to him in these circumstances.
“This might be life or death.” he says quietly, and repeats it louder when Danggu asks what he said. He looks up, “At this rate, their temperature will only continue to drop. They’ll be dead and frozen in less than a few hours.”
Choyeon makes a sound of discontentment and concern before speaking, “Isn’t that too precise?”
“Master Heo taught me enough to know this much. We all know this.”
An overbearing silence follows that statement. It’s hard to claim the teachings of Daeho’s best physician are wrong, and Yul is right, and it makes it all the more difficult to process. You are hanging in the air in the middle of a freezing storm and their chances of saving you are incredibly slim. Their hope is quick to slip away.
There has to be a way. Your soulmate could be worlds away, for all they know. Yul would be willing to set out on a quest to find whoever it could be and drag them back here if it came down to it, however he doesn’t have the privilege of having so much time. So, “Is there another solution?” he asks, gaze focused on Choyeon.
He must look somewhat different because the girl’s eyes widen for a moment and she looks towards Uk. “Well,” she looks back at him, “Breaking almost any artifact would render it incapable of executing their usual magic, which means this one too… Probably.”
“We can’t base ourselves off a ‘probably’.”
“I— Just look in the stupid grimoire, then!”
So he does. He walks over to the book and lets Choyeon move aside before pressing his hands down over the edges of the pages. Soulmates’ Fabric, cursed souls, history, spell recital, remedies… There are only two pages on this artifact, which means all their solutions had to be hidden somewhere there.
Or that there is not a solution.
“Why did our elders have to be so damn dramatic?” Uk sighs in annoyance, and conversation ensues behind Yul. He doesn’t bother keeping up with anything that’s said.
“Trust was especially important at the time.”
“Yeah? For their image and reputation?”
“Can’t be all too different from right now, then.”
The story of the Soulmates’ Fabric claims two souls reside in that ribbon, lovers who were doomed to never be together yet perished at each other’s side. Impossible to get this ribbon off their wrists, even in death— They cursed it, whether they meant to or not, and the piece of fabric could only be taken once their bodies had entirely vanished.
It then became a custom to see if the spirits approved, or rather, if they could confirm if lovers were meant to be before they could marry. One of the spirits known to be kind, and gentle with their approach— The other much angrier, still understandably bitter over their fate. It’s said if two are soulmates, the kinder one will tie the ribbon around their fingers. If not, the cruel one will mock them. However, the method growing to be seen as too much of a risk, the ribbon was sealed in the Jinyowon for years to follow.
Yul’s gaze moves around the page, looking over words about the way the custom used to go, the way people saved themselves, but he struggles to even find a single sentence about a situation similar to yours. He focuses on a specific part, which sounds a lot like a poem, though it isn’t the one he saw earlier to recite before the ritual.
If one foolish enough to be trapped all on their own,
Mind numbed by the illusions of the Eye of the Storm,
Only their lover may find a way to wake their heart,
Or curse themselves with our wrath dare they injure us a cut.
To the abyss and away from their love they will depart,
With us shall never part.
“Curse themself if they dare injure them with a cut?…” he mumbles to himself, eyebrows creasing in confusion. He takes a deep breath and rereads it ten times, then looks back at the story of the souls. It is said they couldn’t remove the ribbon from the lovers’ tied wrists even after their death. Lovers fated to be apart, tying themselves to die together if they can’t live together. Then…? His eyes widen in realization.
“I’ll hold it.” he says suddenly, turning around. The group startles and looks at him. “I’ll hold the fabric right now, but I need you to do something in case it goes awry.”
Danggu nods hurriedly. “Good, anything, because they’re freezing over here.” the blonde says, moving his hand away from your arm and clutching it with his other. It’s red from the cold.
Yul swallows thickly then takes a short breath. “If it goes wrong, I need one of you guys to cut the fabric with my swords.”
“What?”
He continues, “I think if someone cuts the fabric they’ll be cursed by the spirits, but it will free the one that’s trapped.” he explains calmly, and sees Uk scoffing in disbelief as he listens. “So if it comes down to it, cut it. With my swords. Make it known I’m the one willing to be cursed.”
“What happened to ‘we can’t go off a probably’?” Uk mimics, air-quoting him, “You only said you think. Not that you’re sure. And what if it curses us anyways?”
“You’re right. Making the situation worse isn’t something I’m willing to risk.” Yul says dismissively, unsheathing the swords at his sides. “I can cut it myself right now.”
A hurried chorus of ‘no!’s follows that statement and Danggu jogs up to his side.
“Okay, let’s just… talk first.” he says, and glances at you for a second before adding, “Fast.”
“What is there to talk about?” Yul asks.
“Well, what— What’s the deal with the curse? What does it entail? Why would it happen?” Choyeon questions, “I mean, it makes sense a spirit would want to curse the one who breaks their artifact, but what’s their reasoning?”
“It’s the only thing that kept them together. In death, when they couldn’t be together in life.” Yul says, “It’s nothing short of cruel to cut it. But it… is a way to solve this.”
“And what if you’re soulmates?” Uk asks, crossing his arms, “What if it could be solved much more easily?”
“And if we’re not?” Yul counters, expression hardening, “I don’t want to risk it.”
“We would be risking much, much more if we lose both of you to a ribbon.” Danggu argues.
“I’m sorry,” Yul starts, fingers tightening around one of his swords, “But you are not changing my mind on this. Try as you might.”
“Yul…”
The second sword drops to the floor as he lets it go and he uses the distraction of the sound to take the few steps needed to get to you again. Otherwise he knows Uk will stop him.
He steels himself for the incoming pain and grabs the fabric in your hand before he can overthink it more. He holds it tightly and hisses at the cold, but tries to pull to bring your arm higher. You’re like a statue. It’s almost impossible to get you to move at all. Frozen. The storm is beginning to surround him, a slow but sure sign of his soul being pulled somewhere away from his body— Though he has no way to know if it’s to the abyss of the fabric’s realm or simply to meet yours. He cannot afford to wait and see.
The cold rushes through his own blood the longer he remains there, and he’s sure that the cursed souls are too close to him to risk staying still any longer.
He had planned to immediately strike his sword against the artifact the moment he would get a tight enough hold of it, but now that he’s there, it proves to be much more difficult than he’d anticipated. His body feels heavy and his heartbeat is so loud in his ears that he cannot hear his friends’ yelling.
No, this isn’t my heartbeat, he realizes, mine is hurting my chest from how fast it’s going.
It’s yours. You’re still alive.
He feels as if his fingers may be turning numb, and worse, his mind as well. If this keeps up, his stupid plan will have been for nothing and Danggu will be right. Losing both you and him. He doesn’t care about anyone losing him, but it cannot be for nothing. So he focuses, and he finds any bit of strength left in him. With a yell, he swings down his sword just as the words “I’m sorry” attempt to leave his lips. Pointless apologies to souls long gone.
It cuts right through the red piece of silk.
Clang. His hand goes limp and his sword falls.
He sees you fall to the ground before he feels his own body do the same. His head hits the wooden floor, hard, and he feels like he’s lost his breath for a few long seconds. He’s spent— He swears he doesn’t have any strength left in him at all, otherwise, he would have crawled to you to make sure you’re not frozen and dead. His arm is extended on the floor, his end of the ribbon in his hand, and the other in yours still. His sword is somewhere else in the room but he doesn’t know where.
He blinks slowly, trying his very best to stay awake, but it becomes incredibly difficult. The pain and exhaustion are begging him to succumb to sleep but he cannot allow it yet. He can vaguely make out words of worries from his friends, but everything sounds far away. He tries to move, but all he can do is tighten his fingers around the small piece of ribbon. A thought crosses his mind as he looks at it, something that makes him feel even more confused than the fall already did.
Other than the cold in his veins, that is slowly fading away, Yul cannot feel anything close to a curse on him.
Is it not immediate? Why has he not heard the resentful screams of anger of separated lovers? Why is he merely battling his way to staying awake and not out of a fate worse than death? Was the curse a mere myth, or the true struggle a test of strength and will?
Through a half-open and hazy gaze, Yul swears he sees something odd happening. The red silk ribbon, cut cleanly in the middle, beginning to reconstruct all on its own. Fabric made out of air, slowly growing longer from both ends of the torn bits until they inevitably meet again in the middle.
And a translucent red ribbon, like a vision of sorts, tying around both yours and his pinky fingers.
The individuals will, if truly soulmates, see the ribbon tying around their pinkies. The book must’ve been right, but severely missing information. It really is doing just that, but there was nothing written about it fixing itself after getting cut. Then again, there wasn’t a tale of anyone ever trying before.
Yul breathes out something close to a laugh just before he loses grip of his consciousness and passes out, unsure of where he will be when he wakes up— If he ever does. Whatever happens, as long as you’re alive, it will have been worth it.
When he opens his eyes, at first, he’s in a dark space and laying down. He hears whispers and feels energies threatening enough to make him reach for his swords— But he finds he cannot move.
“Was there ever a curse to begin with? Tales this old are riddled with truths and details lost to time.” a voice says, and it seems to echo— Like two people are speaking, “What do you believe?”
— I don’t know.
“You were merely getting the missing half of your soul back. Who would curse you for such a thing?” the voice (voices?) laugh, “It seems clear they would’ve done the same, too.”
When he opens his eyes, the second time, it’s for real and he’s gasping for air. I was spared, he thinks. He sits up hurriedly and looks around, his head spinning so much at the sudden movement that he threatens to fall from the table he’s on.
Table?
“Please do not move so quickly!”
He breathes heavily and looks around through half-lidded eyes. He’s at Sejukwon. He looks to the side and sees you on the second table in the room. You’re sitting already as a nurse fixes up an incense of sorts, and your eyes are trained on him— Wide and surprised. “Yul!” you exclaim, “What in the world?”
He just stares at you for a bit, lips parted without a single word coming out. “Are you okay?” he asks. There’s clear signs all around him that he really woke up, this time around, and that this is reality. But part of him wants to hear you to be sure.
“You…” you sigh, closing your eyes for a moment. Then you give him a look of disbelief that makes it clear the others have told you about what he did to get you back— and that this really is for real. He feels his mouth tugging into a smile and his body relaxes again.
“One could argue you’re worse than I am, you fool.” you scoff, “I’m… Well, I almost died of hypothermia, alright. That’s a feat. But I survived.” you deadpan, eyebrows furrowed, “However you have a concussion.”
He wouldn’t have it any other way. “Good.” he says.
“Not good, are you insane?”
He finds himself laughing at that and slowly lays back down, because he seriously thinks he might fall over if he doesn’t. He doesn’t mind the worried look the nurse gives him as she leaves when he continues to laugh, either. He’ll say it’s because of the concussion. He’s just relieved.
“Oh, so you really are insane.” you scoff.
A silence follows. He looks at you. You’re staring at him with a look of relief, which makes him wonder how much you worried while he was out. It’s past sunset already, so the room is slowly losing its light. Things are quiet around Sejukwon— They always are so the patients aren’t disturbed, but even more so when it’s later in the day. There’s no more worries.
Only thoughts about what happened means for you.
He calls your name and you hum. “Did they tell you?” he asks quietly, almost whispering, “The others.”
“About your heroic tales of saving?“ you half-joke, “Yes. They did, before leaving because it got late. Thank you.” this time, your voice loses its sarcasm halfway. Your expression is much too genuine for those thanks to sound anything but, anyways. He laughs.
“I meant the ribbon. What it meant.”
“We’re soulmates.”
Yul has to make an effort to breathe. You say it so easily, like it’s such a natural thing. And it… is. You are literally meant to be, it could not be anything more natural. In a way, it could make sense you would be so casual about it. But he also feels like he might be close to fainting all over again from how much these words make his head spin, so he can’t entirely agree that it does.
“Yes.” he pauses, to breathe, “That.”
“You don’t sound happy.”
“Please don’t tease me.”
You laugh slightly and get up from where you were sitting. You walk over to him and stand at his side. He stares up at you and smiles. “I’m happy.” he says, “I’m happier than I probably should be considering the circumstances.”
“Good. Me too.” you say, then your expression grows more serious. “I’m sorry you had to suffer this much to bring me back.”
“It’s okay.”
“I know it is. That’s your problem, Yul.”
“It is, isn’t it?” he chuckles, “Unfortunate that our souls are linked. I’ll try not to inconvenience you more than necessary, but I can’t do much about that.”
“Your nature of putting your life on the line for someone you care about, you mean?” you scoff, “I’ve been used to it, anyways. But the way you say this makes it all sound very official.”
Here comes his worst fear. An exaggeration? Maybe. Not entirely. He’s spent years at your side, and well over half of them pining after you. And though it was apparently evident to anyone that saw you two that the feelings were reciprocated, saying anything about them was terrifying. But now you’re soulmates. Or rather, you’ve always been. It doesn’t actually change anything.
But it does give him the guts to actually ask. This is as much courage as he’ll ever get, anyways. So he sits up and stays quiet for a moment, then turns to look at you.
“Would you like to be with me?”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Do you think we fell in love in every universe?”
The question fell from your lips on a rainy afternoon, one where neither you nor your husband Jaewook had any plans to go anywhere. You liked those days the best. Nothing was better than sitting on the couch together and drinking coffee or reading together. You liked almost every activity when you were doing it with him.
He turned to you upon hearing the question, thinking about it for a few seconds before his lips upturned in a smile and the dimple you adored so much appeared on his cheek.
“I hope we did. No one could ever come close to you… at least for me.” Jaewook’s face held nothing but sincerity and love. You swore his eyes were practically overflowing with devotion for you. You’d never been more in love with him than these small moments.
You reached over for his left hand, clasping it with both of your smaller ones. Your finger brushed over his gold wedding band, the cool smooth feeling of the metal beneath your fingers holding the everlasting promise to love and cherish each other to death.
You had often been skeptical of love growing up. You knew firsthand that it was rarely all sunshine and rainbows. And even after meeting Jaewook, it wasn’t. You had your fair share of disagreements and fights. You both had ways of pissing the other off, but you always made up in the end.
Loving each other was more of a choice for both of you, and so you tried your very best to show it every day. Some days it was easier than others, and that day, it felt like the love you shared was too much to be contained in your small living room. It felt like it needed to burst away from the confined space and fly out into the open air— it just kept growing the longer you held eye contact with Jaewook.
“Among all the choices I’ve ever made in my life, I’ve regretted a lot of them. But I’ll never regret choosing to marry you.” You confessed, holding on to the soft intimate moment you had created for just a few minutes longer. Moments like these didn’t happen often. Jaewook’s work life was busy, and your daily conversations with him tended to be more lighthearted. But every so often, you needed the silent feeling of being loved, of holding steady eye contact with each other, of hearing the small whispered promises to love each other until the very end of time— in every universe.

𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞: a visit to Songrim
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: after being away for a year, Park Y/n returns to the chaos that has been happening
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: seoyul x mage!fem!reader
𝐀𝐔: Alchemy of Souls
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: stalking, reader gets attacked
"But why do you not want to tell me what happened while I was away?" Y/n questioned poor Master Lee, who was staring ahead of them, taking a mental note to never bring her with him again(as a joke). She was constantly poking his arm and asking questions, to which he tried answering. Every time he opened his mouth to answer, she interrupted him with another question. He sighed, "I will only tell you one thing if you shut up for the rest of the walk.". She nodded, urging him to answer. "Jang Uk got his gate of energy opened...", and with that, Y/n opened her mouth to ask him something, but she stopped. Last time she saw Jang Uk, he was at Gisan, but it seems like he got kicked out again, or as he likes to say,'I left because he was a useless master'. She was sad that his father closed his gate of energy, the reason why being unknown to this day. Soon enough, they got to Songrim, multiple people bowing their heads in respect, and telling Y/n that she is still as beautiful as the last time they've seen her. "Lady Y/n, and Master Lee, you should both come to the Training Center. There will be a duel happening there soon."A servant bowed his head before leaving. "Did you also know that?" Y/n turned to her master. He just nodded, "Let us go and watch," he said before going the same way the servant went. She stood at her spot before running after Master Lee. Y/n got more and more confused as time went by. First off, Uk got his gate of energy opened finally, and second off, there is a duel today? Could this day get any more interesting and confusing, she wondered. As they got closer to the training center, Master Lee stopped her, "If the leader asks why are you here-" "I will tell him we'll speak later, since there is a duel about to happen" she interrupted him. He nodded, motioning for her to go ahead of him. As she entered, she noticed how the mages stood on the sides, not moving a muscle. The Crown Prince, stood at the top of the stairs, including his servant. They looked taken back, her sudden appearance taking them by surprise. They bowed their heads to each other, as Y/n looked up, the leader spoke up, "Master Lee, it's great to have you back here again. Park Y/n, did you finish mastering Chisu already, or are you only here to attend the duel?". Master Lee only smiled while Y/n responded, "My lord, we should talk about it later. As I know, there is a duel that's about to start. I wouldn't want to interfere or waste time.", and with that, both Y/n and Master Lee went to find a place to stand at.
Not so long after that, Jang Uk appeared in front of the Training Center just as they were about to close it. A girl was beside him, whom Y/n figured out is his maid. She seemed kind, and Y/n made a mental note to talk to her after the duel. Jang Uk looked in Y/ns way, his eyes widening in shock. She smiled at him politely before making a face that just had what the fuck did you get into, written all over it. He winced before continuing to walk. His maid only bowed her head and smiled at Y/n, which she, of course, returned. Y/n listened carefully as the Crown Prince explained everything. She gasped when he mentioned that whoever wins this duel, gets Mu-deok as their maid. She knew that Uk will lose since he just got his gate of energy opened recently. Soon enough, the Crown Prince announced the start of the duel, and with that, they charged at each other.
Tumblr media
As the duel went on, she heard a mage saying that Uk used his defense spell. That meant that he had mastered all of his previous opponent's spells and is using them against Seo Yul. She frowned her eyebrows when Uk gathered the energy and turned it into water, tossing it in the air and using Tansu. She gasped as Yul was almost knocked down, but in the end, Yul won. With that, Mu-deok got a new master, Y/n noticed that she disappeared with the Crown Prince, probably to discuss what's going to happen. After everyone congratulated Uk on mastering Chisu, they left the Training Center as if nothing had happened minutes ago. Master Lee left as soon as the duel finished, only saying that he was going to take a small walk. Y/n watched with a smile as Dang-gu hugged Uk, ignoring the complains of the new mage. "Let the poor man breathe. You should take him to Sejukwon, Dang-gu." Y/n said before Uk got even more wounded than he already was, which made them look at her, both existed to see her again. "Ah, we didn't do our group hug. Come here," Dang-gu motioned for all of them to hug. It was a tradition for them to have a group hug after being away for a long time. Everyone smiled and went for the group hug, laughing as they remembered how long they were without Y/n. "You should take Uk to Sejukwon, I'll stay with Y/n." Yul said to Dang-gu as they pulled away from the hug. He nodded, "Let us go." And with that, they were off to Sejukwon.
As they left, Seo Yul offered Y/n his hand, "Would you fancy a walk around Songrim, my lady?" smiling at her. "Of course, my prince." she blushed. It was their nicknames that they created a few years ago, when they met. Each time they were alone, they wouldn't say their names, only the nicknames. She placed her hand through his, "Lead the way, my prince.". As they walked, she took in the sight of what had changed. There weren't many changes, not that she cared if there were. All that mattered to her was that her friends were safe and healthy. "I missed this." she said as she looked around, "I missed you." he blurted out, not realizing what he said. "I missed you too. How could I not?" she replied, stopping to look at him. He looks as handsome as the last time I saw him. It's impossible how a man could look like you do. She thought, admiring his looks, thinking about every time he defended her, or took care of her tiny wounds from training. She looks even prettier than she did the last time I saw her. All the girls must be jealous of her. God has favorites, and it's you. He couldn't help but think about her. Most of the time, she was in his mind. He couldn't stop thinking about her, worrying about her getting hurt or, worse, attacked. He snapped out of his thought as she wrapped her arms around him. He returned the gesture, placing his cheek on her head, sighing as she smelled like a garden that just bloomed. He could feel her smile against his chest. "What are you smiling at, my lady? Is it my looks?" he asked as if he wasn't blushing profusely. She giggled, "How could I not? You're the most handsome and caring person I have ever met in my life."He smiled and pulled away. It was getting darker. They didn't even notice the time they spent together. They didn't notice that Jang Uk, his maid, and Dang-gu were spying on them, shipping them secretly. The leader of Songrim scared the three of them as he whispered out of nowhere, "They are so in love.". They almost screamed as they saw him, turning around to look at him. The leader only shrugged and left without saying another word. They turned around and saw that their ship had disappeared.
Meanwhile, Seo Yul and Park Y/n parted their ways, bidding each other a goodbye. He insisted on going with her until she got to her room, but she said he doesn't need to. "I'll be safe, you don't have to worry, good night, Yul." He nodded and left, or so she thought. As she continued her way to her room, she felt a pair of eyes boring into the back of her head. She turned around, gripping her sword that made her feel only a tad bit less nervous. But there was no one there, she felt as if her instincts were playing with her due to her tiredness, but she always trusts her instincts. She sighed before turning back, continuing her way. Only five more minutes ran through her head. Just as she turned around the block, a sword almost went through her. She screamed, forming a small circle in front of her, to try defending. She used her powers to push the attacker away from her, making him fly back as the surge of energy hit him. She unsheated her sword, a black energy flowing through it, activating the energy that was in the sword. She gasped as another person stepped in front of her. "Yul?" she asked. He looked at her before attacking the person, who seemed to be a soul shifter. This wasn't a normal, weak soul shifter. It was a stronger one. She noticed that Yul was struggling, so she stepped in. Quick attacks were thrown at the soul shifter. He was struggling to defend against her spells. She was known for her fast swordmanship skills, flicking the sword as if it weighed less than a feather. After slashing his arm and waist a couple tume, he began to start petrifying, and that made her straighten up and create energy in her hand before appling it to the sword, twisting it in the air before jumping. The soul shifter was aware of what was about to happen, so he prepared to attack her. As he was about to stab the sword in her stomach, a spell hit hit, taking him to the floor, just as Y/n pierced the sword through him, petrifying him. She looked back, and Yul started to approach her. He bringed her in a tight hug, "You scared me to death. Thankfully, I was following you." he said in her hair. She saw Park Jin and other mages approach them in a hurry. He pulled away from her before patting her head. "You did an awesome job, my lady." he praised her. She blushed and thanked him.

the tender music of kayagum, haegum, choktae and other instruments filled the room. the lights were slightly dimmed, a couple of candles casting shadows on the walls and curtains.
the crown prince sighed heavily, shifting on his seat.
“what is all of this?” he asked, fingers drumming against the wooden surface of the table. seo yul smiled softly, looking at uk.
“due to all the stress and hustle happening in the city, we decided to fill out spare time with some happiness” yul explained gently, nodding. park danggu shushed them, parting the table in excitement.
“it’s starting!”
go won was about to ask how could he tell but then some of the candles went out, as if a gust of wind did it. however, everyone felt a sudden invisible force causing them to shiver.
“did someone open the window…?” uk blinked and then they heard a faint rustle.
chwiseonru didn’t have a stage, to be frank. they just moved a couple of tables and cleared some space. the ladies sitting on the cushions, dressed in pink and purple coloured hanboks were on the ground. their fingers gently strummed their instruments, touches feather-alike.
suddenly, there were footsteps. everyone in the tavern noticed a woman.
she was wearing a black hanbok with crimson sewed details. small leaves and flowers adorned the cloth on the sides. she had her long hair braided, loosely put and swaying on her shoulder.
her hands were slim and her pointer finger was adorned with a red jewel. it shone beautifully, ruby and crimson glittering in the faint light. if one looked closer, they were about to realise it’s one of the half of ying and yang stone.
however, her face was hidden behind two fans. one of them was black with faint agate details, the other was an opposite – red with black sewings.
she held them in a way that hid her face, which only made the viewers more curious.
suddenly the pace of music fastened and the woman started flapping her fans a bit more rapidly. with swift and hypnotising moves of her body, she revealed her face.
she had some artistic makeup on her face: a curved line forming under her eyes that created a crooked circle, only to connect above her brows. two, small ruby stones were glued on her cheekbones symmetrically.
yul noticed the way the prince’s eyes widened, cheeks flushing and lips parting in awe. the mage scoffed, ignoring his friend’s gaze.
the performer moved gracefully, just like water. her moves were clean and gentle, the flutter of fans creating her own music. uk frowned upon noticing the similarities between some of her dance moves and chisu or even hwansu.
“she’s gorgeous” go won breathed out, his eyes focused on the dancer.
the performer’s face remained cold and expressionless, eyes trained in the audience. a brief eye contact with the prince caused him to smile and nod. whereas yul just clutched his fist, uk was growing more and more suspicious.
the song seemed to reach its climax, beat going faster and faster. nevertheless, the dancer didn’t fail to catch up, moves becoming more sharp and sturdy.
with a sudden thrust, the rest of the candles went out. briefly after, she finished the performance ending in the same position she started.
people started clapping and cheering, go won cleared his throat.
“who… is she?” he asked quietly, turning to the others. in the meantime, the servers lit up the candles again.
“l/n y/n” a female voice rung up from behind him, causing the crown prince to jerk in surprise.
yul sent you a soft smile, your face visible in the light once again.
the crown prince turned around and grabbed your hand, placing a gentle peck on the top of it.
“your performance was stunning. i have never seen anything like this in my entire life! the music, your moves and grace… truly breathtaking. how come i haven’t seen you perform before?” he asked, eyes sparking with adoration.
you chuckled sweetly, bowing elegantly.
“thank you, your highness. i had a break from performing… someone insisted i started dancing again which is why i’m here” you smiled and caught yul’s ebony irises on you. you couldn’t read his expression.
“thank gods that person convinced you. sincerely speaking, im fully mesmerised with you” the prince smirked, a playful smile dancing on his lips
“i’m pleased to hear that, my prince” you bowed once again, noticing uk’s sturdy gaze on you.
“i shall invite you to my castle one day”’ go won hummed. you nodded with a satisfied smile.
“i appreciate that you’re thinking so highly of me, my prince…” you started and looked above his head, only to meet seo yul’s gaze. you weren’t meant to finish as another compliment was landed at you.
“and your fans… may i have a look at them? they look absolutely stunning” he asked.
normally, you’d refuse. but it was the crown prince after all.
nodding and handing him your fans, you saw how he traced the detailed sewings on them.
“beautiful work. may i know by who was it made?” go won asked, rising his head up to look at you. he was amazed not only by your dancing skills but also your beauty. especially those e/c eyes.
“it was a gift from a dear friend of mine” you explained and took back the fans once he handed them to you.
“i see. will you perform again?” the crown prince asked, flirty tone in his voice.
you were meant to give just one dance.
but who were you to deny the majesty’s request?
you finished shortly after midnight, the moonlight sneaking through the windows. the prince wanted more and more, enchanted by you. only when he noticed that your musicians are getting tired, he decided to stop. bidding you farewell (not failing to shower you in compliments once again), he was gone. the ordinary people went home, leaving just a couple of drunkards and the mages left. they decided to return to the jeongjingak.
when you left, they stayed for a bit longer to finish their drinks. yul put his hands on his thighs, observing the crown prince.
“i’m really enchanted. who invited her?” the man asked. uk was about to snicker a joke about being so love-struck.
“yul! yul knows y/n, they’re good friends!” danggu yelled out, a bit more louder than he intended. yul felt his eyes widening as the prince’s thundering gaze shifted to him.
“seriously? and you never introduced me to her? seo yul, i’m disappointed” the crown prince tsked.
“i never knew you were a fan of such things, your highness” yul bowed his head and stood up. the sudden motion combined with couple of drops of alcohol in his system caused his vision to blur.
“ah, it’s a shame i only discovered her now. but better now than never, hm?” go win tilted his head and observed yul’s rosy cheeks.
“yul-ah, you seem distracted. is everything alright?” uk asked, worried. he stood up and placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder.
“yeah, i’m just tired. we shall go. i need to get one thing done and i’ll join you in jeongjingak” yul sighed. he bowed and left them, ignoring their weird looks.
there was a sudden knock at your door. you let out a sigh but your gaze didn’t leave your reflection in the mirror.
“i’m sorry, your highness, but the performance is over” you called, hands working on untying your braid.
“oh, my apologies. i just hoped for a quick chat with such an amazing dancer”
you turned around and your face lit up upon seeing yul. he smiled wildly when your eyes met.
“oh for you master yul… i suppose i could make some time” you teased. yul closed the door and approached you slowly, as you reassumed to unbraid your hair “did you enjoy the show?”
“oh, of course i did. anyone would be a fool not to enjoy it” he hummed, placing his hands on your arms and massaging them gently “a certain individual seemed to enjoy it especially…”
“oh?” you rose your eyebrows, meeting his dark-brown irises in the mirror’s reflection. his face was pensive, brows furrowed and jaw tensed.
he huffed and leaned a bit forward, grabbing your hair gently and putting it on your back. as he started to unbraid your hair tenderly, careful not to tug too harshly, you started to wipe off your performance makeup.
“the crown prince fell in love, i recon” he murmured, shrugging nonchalantly.
“with the performance? i mean, i’d be rather upset if the future king wasn’t entertained with my dance” you hummed and put away the dirty cloths, your face now bare.
“i think he was more found of you than the show itself, y/n” seo yul sighed and parted the last parts of your hair, finally letting it flow on your back loosely.
“hm… it flatters me, truly” you smiled and noticed his brows twitch “yul?”
“yes, dear?” he asked, sitting down next to you. he looked at the stone on your finger, smiling subconsciously.
“are you jealous?” asking, you raised the corner of your lip.
he just rolled his eyes playfully, yet no words were spoken.
“oh yul…” you giggled and poked his chest “you seemed to kill him with your gaze the second he opened his mouth while he was talking to me”
“stop talking such nonsense about the future head of the country…” seo yul grunted, avoiding your gaze. a slight blush adorned the tips of his ears.
he leaned and grabbed your fans, holding them gently.
you observed how he traced the black sewing, then moving to the red one. he was thinking about something, absentmindedly moving his fingers along the soft fabric.
“i’m sorry” you huffed, placing your hand over his “i tried to hold a distance but he was too…”
“it’s a future king, they tend to get too blind to notice someone is uncomfortable” yul scoffed and looked up at you, suddenly reaching out and holding your chin with his free hand. he tilted his head, a faint smirk dancing on his lips “but you’re mine”
“mhm” you hummed in agreement and waited for him to shorten the distance between you two.
as your lips finally met, your head went spiralling. every kiss with seo yul was like the first time, always so passionate and tender.
you’ve been dating yul for a while now, yet you were keeping your relationship secret from the public eye. and for the time you’ve spent with your lover, you noticed his habits… such as struggling to word out his love. however, his words just weren’t verbal: yul adored to shower you with gifts and small gestures.
like those fans you always perform with. or the finest performance makeup supplies he got from afar. or the handmade hanbok for you to perform in. or the musicians.
or the ring.
as you felt the air escaping your lungs, you moved your hand from his and put it at the back of his neck.
leaning away, you noticed his flushed cheeks.
“i’m yours, yul. not going anywhere, even if the prince offers me to rule the country” you chuckled and tapped his ring, the blue part that matched yours.
“good” yul huffed, noticing the gesture.
after all, the red and blue yin and yang jade was the symbol for ever lasting love for a reason.

PERFECT REUNION
Seo yul x reader (fluff)
"What!? He's back?!" Your eyes widened and you practically bounced up at hearing the words from one of the servants. You had barely even heard the name of your lover since he had left 3 years ago, and after a couple of months, you had even stopped receiving letters despite his promise to you that he would keep sending them.
You were already rushing out of the house the second you processed the words. "Ma'am, I have been informed that Young Master Seo Yul is staying at Chwiseonru. He arrived this afternoon." It was already dark out and entirely improper for you to be travelling alone at this time, but you felt like you didn't have a single second to spare to call for Eunju, your maid. It took 20 minutes to get to Chwiseonru from your family's home, but with your hurried steps, you made it in half the time. Juwol knew you well and already could tell what had brought you here from your slight panting as you struggled to catch your breath.
"Y/n! You're out so late? Without Eunju?" She sounded concerned, but she understood your urgency. There had barely been a mention of Yul after the chaos at Choyeon's wedding 3 years ago. You had been too preoccupied with helping your best friend through her mourning and anger to even say a proper goodbye to him.
Now that things were as back to normal as they could get, you were desperate to see the face you had longed for every night and day for so long. Juwol didn't dawdle any longer before disclosing which room Yul was staying in, and you were quick to rush up the stairs and down the hall. Standing in front of the door, you were hit with a sudden nervousness. You had been separated for so long, but now were only a room apart. It only took one push for you to see his face again. His beautiful face that you had missed so much.
But doubt filled you as you stalled there, standing just outside like the fool you were. What if he had forgotten you? What if he had found someone else in his time away? What if he didn't want to see you? But you shook all your thoughts aside and with your last bit of courage, knocked softly on the door.
"Yes?"
Your heart raced at the sound of his voice, and it suddenly all felt a little more real. He really was back. He was just behind this door. You pushed it open a little shakily, feeling almost as if you couldn't breathe as you watched his eyes look up to meet yours.
He was dressed in a simple light purple set of hanbok and his hair was maybe a little longer than you had last seen, his eyes a little more worn with experience. They held a drowsiness which you knew all too well, and with a quick glance at the table he sat at, you acknowledged the bottle of wine he had been drinking. His eyes widened as soon as he saw you, and you swore they even brightened upon seeing your face. He stood up quickly, but he was clearly very drunk, and he stumbled a bit. You rushed over to him like it was second nature, steadying him before he could trip.
"I-I'm not dreaming, right? I-It's really you, right?" He spoke softly, his words slurring together slightly as a result of the alcohol. His hands gripped at your arms to keep from falling, and your heart nearly shattered at his question. His voice was filled with hurt, but unmistakable hope as well, and all you could do was nod your head fervently at first.
"You're not dreaming... It's me." You whispered with a sob. You finally gave up trying to keep you both standing, and sunk to the floor slowly, tears already slipping out and down your cheeks.
Yul was no more collected than you. Whether it was the alcohol or just the result of seeing you, you weren't sure; but his eyebrows fell, and his lip began to tremble, and before too long, he was weeping silently in your arms as well. That's how you stayed for several minutes. Both of you were too emotional to say anything without breaking down halfway through the sentence, so you just stayed in his arms, sobbing into his chest as he pulled you ever closer, his tears dripping down onto the silk of your dress.
It took a while for you to recover, but eventually, you did. You took a shaky breath, gathering enough energy to be the first one to speak. And even though you could talk without being reduced to tears halfway through, your words were still shaky with emotion.
"Why did you drink alone? You should've invited me..." You looked up at him and offered a sad smile. He tried to return it, but couldn't quite. He shut his eyes as another tear slipped out. You reached out silently and brushed it off his cheek, leaving your hand there to cup his warm skin. He leaned into your touch and it seemed to ground him enough to find the words he wanted.
"I know I should've told you that I was returning... But I was scared." He opened his eyes and met your loving gaze with his sorrowful one. "A few months after I left, I found out some of my letters had been intercepted by my father. I realized you must've thought that I... moved on from you."
He looked down for a moment, collecting his thoughts. He was somehow so well-spoken even while drunk. You weren't sure what you had expected, though. He was Seo Yul, after all. You hadn't realized just how much you had missed him. "Y/n." He said softly. You smiled. Hearing your name from his lips was all you had longed for for those 3 years. "I have so much to tell you, and even more that I want to ask. But first... How have you been, my love?" He smiled gently, finally being able to call you that after so long.
You were quickly able to catch up with your lover. He told you about everything that had happened back home while you shared the rest of the wine. You didn't have much to tell him. Most of the time he had been away from you had been spent at home, with you thinking of rarely anything but him. You found out that he hadn't stopped writing letters to you, he had just stopped sending them. He had even brought them with him, but he refused to show you. They were useless now that he had you back.
In some ways it still felt like a dream that he was here. Yet it couldn't be a dream because you felt his arms around you, hugging you as close as humanly possible. It still didn't feel close enough for either of you, though.
As he talked, you couldn't help but press more and more kisses to any skin you could access— his neck, his jaw, his cheek, and even his lips. He allowed you to cut off his sentences to kiss you instead. You had 3 years to make up for, after all.
It felt too perfect to be kissing him, to feel his soft lips against yours, and to feel the relief that you didn't have to stop or say goodbye. He was here and he was yours and with that thought, you kissed him as if there was no tomorrow. You wanted to savour the moment for as long as possible, so even when you had to pull apart to catch your breath, it was never too long before your lips found their way to his again. It was after you pulled apart for the 3rd or 4th time that Yul spoke up.
"y/n.....marry me?"
You were taken aback at his sudden words. It didn't even really sound like a question, because he already knew your answer. He was firm in the statement, determined even, and you smiled wider than you had ever had before.
You nodded at him with shiny eyes, watching in awe as his lips curved up into a smile, eyes almost overflowing with his love for you. You laughed and kissed him again. You knew he would probably ask you again the next day when he was sober because "nothing counts when you're drunk", and that you would say yes again to that as well. It brought a warm feeling to your chest. You really couldn't think of a time that you were happier than in the current moment.
Everything felt so good and right and perfect. That's what Yul was to you in every way.
Absolutely, unmistakably, decidedly perfect.

Jang uk x reader
-
The first time you met Jang Uk, it was when your sister Cho yeon broke off the engagement with him. Yet you could only watch it from afar, thinking how strict your mother was. That time, no one really knew Jinyowon had a third child in the family. You spent your entire life without stepping outside right after your oldest sister Bu yeon went missing.
Maybe you did sneak out a few times and getting caught not long after. Earning an earful from Cho yeon’s guard and your mother. It wasn’t really a wonderful experience.
But something did happened once when you escaped.
You bumped into Jang uk and he managed to break the bracelet tracker you were forced to wear. But he looked a lot different than the last time you had saw him. His hair wasn’t that long anymore. Jang uk doesn’t smile as much as he used to. And his energy wasn’t brighter than others.
When people die, they change a lot.
If only you knew the consequences breaking it. Maybe you wouldn’t feel the need to suffer a thread seeing into your skin.
“It’s you again.” Jang uk called as you turn your back to look at male. You didn’t know what’s your purpose of escaping again. You roam your way around the village with zero idea of what to do next.
Was meeting Jang uk again a coincidence?
He looks like he’s half dead. You blinked. “What are you doing here?” You questioned.
“It should be me asking why would a Jinyowon be at a place like this. It’s not really a nice place to be at. Dangerous especially for a girl like you to be around.” Jang uk mentioned.
Just as you were about to talk, Jang uk noticed the servants were looking for you. The tight force on your wrist made you startled when he pulled you into a dim alleyway and kissed you when the servants passed by. When he pulled away, you looked at him blankly. His hand was still cupping your face. “ don’t even think about this. I was just protecting you from getting caught. Just go home- I mean safely. Just stay in that prison room or whatever you call it and never come back here. I don’t want to be in trouble.” Jang uk huffed, backing away from you.
That was the last word he said before he walk away, leaving you shock alone. You were too lost in your mind to notice that you had been caught again.
When you were brought back to your room, your mother was already standing in the middle of the room. She wasn’t really happy about this either.
And your night was spent with your mind thinking about him. You shouldn’t feel this way. He doesn’t feel the same. He’s a Songrim mage. You’re from Jinyowon. When you saw him from afar, doesn’t mean he could feel the same for you.
You meant nothing to him. Even when he meant everything to you.
-
“You’re going to marry someone from the Seo family and be the leader of Jinyowon.” Your mother said. “But you’re still going to live in this room with him.” She added.
“Why can’t you make Bu yeon or Cho yeon as the leader-”
“that’s the reason why i asked you to get married first. Don’t you like it? Getting to be the leader of Jinyowon with your loving husband by your side?” There was this adoration in your mothers eyes, like she’s thinking of the ‘perfect’ future for you and the man. You never decline your mother’s orders, but at the same time you couldn’t force yourself to obey to her this time.
You don’t love the man. Not when Uk was on your mind.
“the unanimous assembly wants to see the new leader of Jinyowon. You’re following me.” Your mother said.
You didn’t feel like yourself when you were there, while your mother was smiling. You hated everything that was going on but you ended up bowing to everyone. It wasn’t comfortable. Especially when a man named Jin Mu was keeping his eyes on you beside your mother.
you breathed. “I was appointed the leader. The third child in Jinyowon. Y/n.” You announced, hearing everyone was starting to fuss with their mumbling. It was loud enough to kill you. “But you’re the youngest. The leader should be Bu yeon.” There was a man named Ho yeon called out and your eyes went to him. You couldn’t say anything. “That’s why she is going to marry someone from the Seo family.” Your mother announced.
“Can we pretend like we’re married? Everyone is scared of you. Even if you don’t feel the same like I do… but please? I can’t stay in that room forever.” You pleaded to Jang uk. But he instead just gave you fake a laugh glare at you.
“you’re crazy. I’m not doing that. Find someone else to do it.” He said.
There was a layer of glass in your eyes, the tears threatening to spill out, you look up. Seeing how there was a star that was brighter than the others. You might as well die if you were going to marry someone you didn’t want to.
You felt disgusted. Disappointed in yourself for being the puppet show for your mother.
The door opened from afar and a man walked in that caught everyone’s attention. It wasn’t a member from the unanimous assembly. It wasn’t a part of the guard either.
But it was someone you were familiar with. Someone who you were hoping the impossible to come.
Jang uk.
“she can’t marry anyone else.” his voice was loud enough for everyone in the meeting to hear. You watch him, walking to your side before kissing your forehead and holding your hand.
This would be the second time he had kissed you without hesitating. If he continues to do this without having hard feelings, you might be the one to burst anytime soon.
His hand was warm. Holding the cold hand of yours. You have a feeling he might question you later. “we’re married and we hope to get your blessings.” The way he talks about it sounds so casual. Was it because he was so good at lying and you’re not?
He poured you some in the rice wine cup, pushing it closer to you and he sees you finishing it. The liquid went through your throat with a burning sensation. The only thing you thought was how strong his alcohol tolerance was but that didn’t stop you from refilling it and push over to his side.
The moment he picked up the glass, he heard you say something that made him stop.
“If you drink that then we’re officially married. That’s our wedding drink.” You stated.
you heard your mother calling out your name. Probably disappointed and confused. She wanted you to explain everything that has been going on. Disobeying your mother was the last thing you wanted to do.
When Jang uk wanted to take you away he was stopped. “I don’t allow you to take her away.” Your mother said.
“Y/n is my wife. She is under my responsibilities. Therefore I forbid her to stay in Jinyowon.” Jang uk said.
That was the last thing before you followed Jang uk out the door.
-
What was the reason he took you in? He didn’t even acknowledged your existence. He sent you to maidservant Kim to take care of you while he was gone.
You waited for him. The first day passed by and he wasn’t there. The second day, he still wasn’t there. And a week passed by, you were starting to think he didn’t want to see you again. With everyday, you keep asking maidservant Kim about him. And her replies will always be the same. He’s at Jeongjinak. That was the reply she would always give.
You couldn’t sleep well neither could eat.
Until one night, when he returned after being gone for a week. It was the night where you were actually miserably in pain.
It was like an untreated wound. The pain was unbearable. When he walked in, you were on the cold ground, sweating while silently holding it in. “what happened to you?” he doesn’t sound worried, nor panic about it.
It was harder to read him when you’re in desperate need of help.
“Mother stitched the thread tight in the skin on my shoulder.” You panted. Like you were running out of breath. It was the most painful thing you’ve had experienced.
Jang uk didn’t seem fazed. He just exist your room and went to maidservant Kim to ask her to accompany and put ointments before returning to his personal room.
But he couldn’t go to bed.
Not when you’re in pain.
But he was supposed to be this cold to you. Why is he worried. Did he sound too cruel to you? To him it was too harsh.
When he stopped by the front of your room, he stood there, wondering if he should go back in there. His ego took over him and he ended up leaving.
“What did she said?” Jang uk asked maidservant Kim.
“Y/n refuses to go home. She said she will bear the pain. The ointments and warm towel isn’t helping young master Jang.” Maidservant Kim vented. Jang uk felt a sense of pity in himself.
But he can’t show his emotions to anyone.
“Then put more ointments until the pain reduces.”
He hated himself for being that cold, but his blood was boiling and he went straight to Jinyowon.
The door opened, and Jang uk took the relics from Ho gyeong and smashes it. “Why would you do that!” She sounded him.
“my wife couldn’t sleep. please refrain from calling her in the middle of the night. she’s sick and adding pain to her will be only make y/n suffer. Please respect her as your daughter and as my wife. As you can see we are newlyweds.”
the only reason he came home. That was the reason. He was too worried to leave you alone with maidservant Kim when you’re sick. Maidservant Kim told him that you didn’t feel well and he came home. Just for you.
-
A sense of regret when he walked in your room. Seeing you unconscious on the cold floor, your face and lips turned pale.
Jang uk tucked you in bed, taking the cold damped towel cloth before placing it on your forehead. He lay down beside you and just watch your sleeping figure. He didn’t realized how many hours had passed by or how the sun had rise. Because Jang uk didn’t get any sleep.
It wasn’t because of the things that was bothering him. What’s surprising was they don’t appear anymore when you’re with him.
When you woke up, that was the first time you had seen him smile. After three years.
“Good morning love.” He kissed you again.
Third.
“I’m sorry for being cold to you. That shouldn’t happened.” He apologised. You couldn’t comprehend what you just witnessed. “I wished I took care of you earlier.” Jang uk breathed.
“will you give me a second chance to prove myself?”
You never thought this kind of moment would actually happen. Forgiveness is a powerful thing.
“ you will always have a second chance Jang uk.”

— COLD-BLOODED
seo yul x gn!reader | 2.1k words
genre: established relationship, hurt/comfort
warnings: death, blood, injuries, overthinking, canon-divergence (this takes place in ep1, first battle w naksu)
synopsis: Under a dark sky that means no good, Seo Yul discovers the feeling of loss— Or the fear of it, rather.
author’s note: finished watching pt1 i hate aos all my homies hate aos /j but Seriously can yul just be happy. (i say as i proceed to write angst for him)
Tumblr media
Flames were tossed into lanterns around Songrim, slowly lighting up the place as the sun set into the horizon.
Yul flipped a page in his book silently, scanning the words with careful concentration. Truth be told, the focus he had on the words he was reading was entirely forced as well as entirely an attempt at easing his worries.
It had been hours since the group of mages planning to fight Naksu had set off. You being part of them. He had full confidence in your abilities, being one of the strongest mages alongside your leader there— But it didn’t make the slow passage of time since your departure any better.
The boy heaved a quiet sigh and closed his book, setting it down on a table before getting up. When he stepped outside of the study room, he realized just how dark the sky had gotten. His brows furrowed at the sight.
Something was deeply wrong.
The clouds swirled in ways they shouldn’t, gray and threatening as they loomed over Daeho. Sure, it was getting late in the evening— But no time or weather could possibly be this dark without any sort of reason behind it. Maybe it was more related to his gut-feeling than logic, unusually so, but Yul was certain something was up.
He huffed and looked down, thinking. It wouldn’t be the right move to head over to where the rest had gone. It wouldn’t be wise to act rashly based on instinct, either.
Just as if the skies had heard him, a solution presented itself before him.
The group of mages sent to fight Naksu were back.
It was obvious from the number of people being sent to Sejukwon and the amount that waved off anyone trying to get them medical aid in favor of trying to run after Naksu.
He stopped one of them. The latter startled before looking up and smiling politely, bowing his head. “Seo Yul!”
“Where is [name]?” he wasted no time in asking. The boy scratched the back of his neck, seemingly a bit clueless as he looked around. He brought his gaze back to him after a bit.
“I don’t know. I didn’t see them with Master Park when we came back. Some people stayed back at the lake, if I recall.”
“What?” Yul muttered, brows furrowing. His gaze wandered anxiously, confused, before slowly looking back up, “Why?”
A boy in Jeongjingak’s uniform rushed over, grabbing the other’s shoulder to tell him something, before freezing at the sight of Yul. He seemingly hadn’t seen him there. The boy straightened up a little, eyes wide, before he redirected his gaze elsewhere.
“Oh, Jeongje, do you know where [name] is? Yul’s wondering, but I haven’t seen them.” the other speaks casually, clearly oblivious to the drastic change in attitude in his friend. Something’s wrong. He didn’t want to see me. No one at Songrim was stranger to yours and Yul’s relationship— No one talked about it in front of either of you, but everyone knew. So if something happened to one, people feared mentioning it to the other.
Which is why Yul felt so uncomfortable with how distant this boy was being the moment he saw him.
He desperately tried to catch the boy’s gaze. The latter accidentally looked up for a glance, but once Yul caught it, he didn’t let it go. He gulped and stammered over his words. “[name].” he hesitated, “The lake… They’re… Me and some other guys were headed to Sejukwon to get them help.”
Yul’s eyes widened at that and his lips parted to speak, before he bit on the inside of his lower one in frustration. So he was right. He wish he hadn’t been. He stepped back, eyes hazy and moving aimlessly. His hands moved to check for his swords at his sides before he nodded to himself. “Get mages from Sejukwon to follow me to the lake.” he spoke with a slight shake in his voice.
“Yul—”
When the two boys didn’t move, he looked up, eyes uncharacteristically and frighteningly cold. “Right now.”
The boy had reached the area mentioned before he’d even noticed. His mind was blank and all he could picture was the possible death of the person closest to him. He stopped once he reached the edge of the frozen lake, and took a breath. He stepped on it and checked how slippery it was. Once certain it was fine, he ran as fast as he possibly could.
On a lake covered in ice, clear under the night sky, red was the most obvious thing in the world. He spotted it from meters away, causing an uncomfortable twist in his stomach.
Blood.
Yul never felt so much fear before. Never has he felt the cold gust of wind that seemingly went through his chest, touching his heart itself and momentarily depriving him of all senses, smothering all of them with pure anxiety. The feeling of the sky falling above him. The world pressing around his limbs. Suffocating him. Forcing his mind into a frozen state of numbness.
He forcedly shook it off.
“[name].” he hurried, dropping to his knees the moment he reached you. You looked near-frozen and he wondered why no one had thought it better to bring you away from the ice to wait. Your eyes were closed, and the main source of blood seemed to be at the back of your head. He figured there must’ve been an injury towards your neck as well and they didn’t wanna risk movement until the right tools arrived.
There was no way you were gone. Despite this thought, Yul knew there wasn’t much to back it up. In the middle of nowhere, freezing on top of a lake of ice, with blood pouring out from a wound on your head. The possibilities of your survival seemed to lean more towards a negative result. He refused it entirely.
He pressed two trembling fingers on the side of your neck and checked for your pulse.
Behind him, a group of mages waited anxiously, not daring come any closer. The silence was suffocating for a few seconds, before Yul looked over his shoulder, gaze clouded and worried. “Bring them to Sejukwon as fast as you can.”
Two people hurried over and carefully lifted you onto a stretcher and Yul’s gaze sharpened at the sight of blood instantly staining the fabric. You were carried away as several people rushed to get you to Sejukwon, all whilst trying to keep a proper balance on the ice. Yul only looked away once they stepped foot on land and their risks of falling lowered.
He brought his gaze back to the ground, fingers dipping onto the pool of blood that seeped through the cracks in the pristine white ice. He allowed a deep sigh to leave his lips as he tried to reassure himself. It was no use.
The warmth of the fire burning next to him inside Sejukwon seemed to do nothing to calm the chill in his veins. He was entirely still, sitting on a bench outside the room you were being treated in, save for the violent trembling of his hand on his knee. He stared at the wall like his soul had left him entirely. He himself wasn’t sure where he was, really, his thoughts void of anything that made sense. Just flashing images of blood and possible death.
Around an hour passed before a familiar voice called out to him, telling him to come in. His limbs felt heavy when he stood up. He didn’t know if Master Heo calling him instead of stepping out to give him a look of pity his mind had imagined in the past hour was a good thing or not. Maybe he would step in and he would do exactly that. Maybe he would step in and Yul would feel like crumbling to the ground instantly.
He entered the room and closed the doors behind him, eyes focused on the bed where you laid. Master Heo glanced over at him and Yul gave him a look of what he figured seemed like desperation.
Master Heo nodded reassuringly and the boy visibly relaxed, back hitting the door behind him softly. Thank Heavens.
“Yul-ah, you know…” the man started, voice uncharacteristically serious, “If you hadn’t brought people from Sejukwon with you when you went to check where [name] was, they might not have made it.”
He swallowed thickly and looked down, nodding a little.
“What— You fool, what have you done to your hand?”
Yul looked up, surprised, before glancing at his hand. “Oh, this is just [name]’s blood.” he muttered, blinking at the dripping crimson on his numb hand, “I’ll just wash it off.”
“Are you so worried over them that you’re blind to the fact that your hand is freezing? Seo Yul, you— Argh.” the man cut himself off with an exasperated huff.
In a few minutes, he’d rinsed and dried his hand, as well as forced him to hold it close to the fire of a torch, before bandaging it. “You fool probably let your hand in the ice too long and then failed to notice it was freezing. How that happened is beyond me, but now it’s fixed, at the very least.” he sighed.
Yul bowed in gratitude, frankly still a bit hazy, and only now realizing he was regaining feeling in his bandaged hand. He closed his fingers and moved them again, before taking a deep breath. It felt as if his senses altogether were coming back to him. He didn’t realize the fear of losing someone could hit him to the point of being this oblivious to everything that wasn’t them.
Master Heo pressed his lips into a thin line and nodded to himself, “Then, I’ll leave you alone. Park Jin told me to come to the secret room… Something about Naksu. You should come over when you can. [name] will wake up soon. Try not to worry.” the man said warmly.
He walked towards the door and stopped at Yul’s side before opening it, setting a hand on his shoulder comfortingly, “There’s wine in that cabinet if you really need it.”
Yul didn’t need to look at him to see the teasing smile he wore as he spoke. A familiar attempt at lightening up the atmosphere, before he left and closed the door behind him.
Once silence settled in the room, Yul slowly walked over to you. He stood at your side, looking down at your face. Your features seemed less sick— The warmth of the fire as well as the treatment you’d received bringing back some life on your face. He softly touched your cheek with the back of his hand and felt a wave of worry leave his system. It was as if now that he could feel you were okay, his mind finally, properly registered it.
He thanked the stool behind him for catching him when the exhaustion got to him enough to make him fall back. He heaved a deep sigh and leaned his forehead on the bed, hands finding yours. He fiddled with your fingers as his consciousness slowly left him, dozing off.
His dreams were empty.
When he awoke, the lights outside Sejukwon were still lit, and the sun barely awake. He blinked tiredly and pushed himself to get back up, when the sound of someone mumbling held him back. He looked to the side, “[name]. You’re awake.” he spoke softly, voice laced with fondness.
“And you should go back to sleep.” you replied, and he chuckled. You looked just as tired as he probably did, eyes barely staying open. You were smiling a bit though. Yul tightened his hold on your hand and sat up.
“How are you feeling?” he asked. You moved your gaze up to the ceiling in thought, before slowly moving each of your limbs.
“I think I’m alright. My head hurts a bit, though.”
Yul smiled and got up, a hand moving to your forehead to move strands of your hair away. His thumb caressed your skin softly before he leaned down, planting a kiss on your forehead.
“I have things to do now that I know you’re okay.” he said quietly.
“Are you sure you weren’t just using me as an excuse to sleep?” you joked, and broke into laughter when Yul shot you a half-hearted warning look. “Naksu was running away, it’s probably about that, right? Go do your job, Mr. Seo.”
He smiled and looked away, hand still at the top of your head. “Okay. Take care.” he said softly, sounding nothing like someone who was leaving, and you smiled, sighing.
“Let go of me.” you raised your eyebrows, nodding your chin towards his arm, “You have to if you want to leave.”
He hesitated, gaze lowering.
After hours of worrying, he could allow himself this.
“… Maybe I’ll just stay, then.”

AOS WHEN THEIR S/O GETS HURT
genre. fluff. headcanon/reaction. warnings. injuries, fighting, and crying mentioned (not in detail at all). pairing. uk/yul/danggu/won x reader (all separate). wc. 750 (150-200 each). request. no. a/n. why do i think my writer's block is back help 😭 i'm so sorry if this is shit
Tumblr media
JANG UK
Tumblr media
he would be panicked but he wouldn’t show it
I think he’d be more angry than scared, and by angry, I mean really angry
like whoever hurt you is about to have all hell brought down on them
he has the ice stone, he’s the most powerful man in the world, he can definitely deal with whatever dude decided to mess with his s/o
he makes sure to check that you’re okay first before dealing with the situation, but it’ll just be a quick check, he wouldn’t stay too long
he likes to have the situation properly dealt with before he lets his guard down again
he’d be all soft afterwards with you especially if you were still injured
he can switch so quickly and drastically from scary and powerful to gentle and in love
he’ll make sure you take medicine or get medical attention from Sejukwon immediately
because you’re his top priority and he wants to make sure you’re safe before anything else
he might think about scolding you for not being careful
but then he’d also have to scold himself for not protecting you like he should, so he ends up staying quiet and just asking you if you’re okay in that soft worried voice of his
SEO YUL
Tumblr media
like Uk, Yul wouldn’t show how worried he was
but he would be absolutely panic stricken inside
his heart would be beating so fast and he’d have to really focus on his breathing to not lose control
you getting hurt is like his worst nightmare
and he gets so flustered and scared that he definitely needs someone to accompany him to go find you because this boy is going to lose sense of direction quick 😭
he’ll drop whatever he’s doing to go to you immediately
if there’s an enemy in the way, he will deal with them in order to get to you, but he needs to make sure you’re okay before confronting whoever did it
he’d inspect you so carefully, the poor baby :(
even if it’s a little scratch that was an accident, he’d treat you as if you were made of glass even days after
and would always ask you how you were feeling and if there was anything you needed
he’s usually shy when you ask for hugs or kisses, but one of the only times when he’ll agree immediately is when you’re hurt
he just wants to make sure that he does everything in his power to make you feel better <3
PARK DANGGU
Tumblr media
absolutely horrified, shocked, scared
he’s very emotive in his face unlike his friends
rushes to wherever you are, the panic practically surging through his entire body
if there was any fighting that needed to happen, he would calm himself down enough to not also get hurt in the fight
but he’s mainly just trying to get to you as fast as possible
could possibly cry depending on how badly you were injured
I feel like if he would, without thinking, pull you into a tight hug as soon as he saw you
and it would be such a tight hug that it would press on your wound
the only thing coming out of his mouth after you winced in pain is a string of “sorry”
he feels so bad, but his brain is honestly such a mess because of how worried he is
he’s a clumsy baby, so he might possibly make the situation worse on accident (before making it better with kisses and medical attention)
GO WON
Tumblr media
makes it the absolute biggest deal, no matter if it’s a serious situation or a simple cut or scrape
he’s dramatic, you can’t tell me otherwise
but he would be genuinely worried about you because he cares about you so much
he is going to make sure everyone knows that you are his top priority just by how he drops everything and makes sure of your safety before anything else
and if any of the royal guards were responsible for not keeping you safe, he might fire them on the spot, just saying
he’ll make sure you get attended by the best masters in Sejukwon
he’s not going to take any chances when it comes to you and your safety
would be stubborn and either not let you leave his sight or have guards accompany you everywhere (new guards, not the old ones)
if his duties pulled him away from you, you would be on his mind every second until he knew that you were completely recovered

What the eyes don't see, the heart feel - Naruto x Alchemy of Souls
This post, is more than anything, a repost of one of my fanfics. The're writhem in my original linguage and don't have so much attention, so, I repost them in english. I'm SO SORRY for the bad english, I use my horrible skills and the Google Translator for this, lol.
There some little spoilers of the drama, but the're small. And references too.
Enjoy please!
Tumblr media
"Kazekage, my child has been in my belly for twelve months." A woman with black hair tied in a bun and a white skirt with a purple coat over it and a skirt of the same color stood in front of the kazekage with eyes that threatened to shed tears. "Please kazekage, save my child."
"I'm sorry, but she's already dead." The man spoke in his dry tone but his expression exuded sadness and mourning. "There is nothing I can do."
"Please, I won't give up on my baby..." Tears fell from the woman's eyes, who ended up sitting on the floor with her hand over her belly "I'm not going to give up on her..."
"I already told you, there's nothing I can do." He repeated what he said before, but in a higher tone.
"The ice stone is in Jinyowon." The woman whispered in a low, tearful voice but it was enough to get the man's attention. "It never left Jinyowon, I can't use her in this state, but maybe you can get Kazekage."
"You want me to use a forbidden jutsu?!" The redhead spoke out loud.
"I'll do anything to save my baby!"
The man shook his head and helped the woman to her feet. He really didn't know if he should really try this, since resurrecting someone from the dead with the power of the ice stone was forbidden and wrong. After using the power of the ice stone he sealed it beneath the desert sands, so that the large layer of grains hid the stone so that it would not be used by the wrong hands.
A beautiful little girl with black hair was born. She was called Ari which means 'adorable', that was what BoA thought when she saw her daughter who ended up being born without the ability to see with her eyes but had a large amount of chakra within her and could feel the flow of energy around her. around her, because of this she was excluded by the other children, they thought she was strange and scary because she was blind and could predict the weather and know if there was someone around her or not. The Jinyowon family were the only ones who did not fear her for her gift, and even made a point of training her so that she would become the leader of Jinyowon in the future. A year later the Kazekage had a third child, a premature little boy with red hair and sealed the one-tailed fox inside the child.
"Why you're alone? Shouldn't he be with the other kids?" The girl with loose brown hair asked a little red-haired boy who was sitting on the sand hugging his teddy bear, the little boy was scared by the girl's unexpected voice.
"They… are afraid of me…" He whispered in a low voice, but it was enough for the girl to hear and smile at the answer.
"It seems like we have something in common, what’s your name?" She sat in front of the boy on the sand "I'm Ari no Jinyowon, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Gaara. Subaku no Gaara." The little boy opened a smile, but his expression quickly changed to doubt "Ari, why are you wearing that blindfold? That way you won't be able to see..."
"Even with or without the blindfold, I wouldn’t be able to see." His smile didn't waver and remained on his face, showing dimples on the side of his cheek "I'm blind."
"Sorry, I didn't want to seem rude..." The little boy said, lowering his head and scolding himself.
"Don't worry, Gaara. Do you want to be my friend?" The little red-haired boy raised his head at the sudden question.
"Friend? Eh... of course I want to." He said, smiling.
"Ari!!" A voice called the blind girl who turned her gaze to where the voice had been heard "Ari! Mommy is calling you." A girl apparently the same age as Gaara appeared running towards the girl, she had brown hair tied in a side braid, bangs that covered part of her forehead and was wearing a light blue dress. She stopped running and screaming when she realized that her sister wasn't alone "Ah, sorry for disturbing you two..."
"It's okay little sister, Gaara, unfortunately I have to go. Let's play tomorrow." She got up with the help of the girl and headed towards her house.
The little boy nodded, even though he hadn't played with her, at least he had gained a new friend. He spent a few moments playing with the sand until his uncle, Yashamaru, appeared.
"Uncle Yashamaru! I made a new friend, her name is Ari." Gaara said to his uncle with a smile
"Serious? How good Gaara." The older man smiled at his nephew's achievement "It's Ari from Jinyowon, isn't it?"
"Yes, she can't see but she managed to notice that I was alone."
"Amazing. Now come on, you have to go home." He took the little boy's hand and started to walk.
The days passed and Ari and Gaara played together every day, Ari's mother, BoA accompanied their games sometimes and the redhead murmured how elegant she was. BoA liked the little boy and loved it when her daughter said she was going to play with him.
"Ari! I have something to give you." Gaara took one of her hands and opened it with the palm up, putting a bracelet on it "I made this bracelet in pairs, this piece is blue and mine is red. I made them both using sand and asked my brother to paint them, did you like them?"
"I liked it, Gaara, despite not seeing her, she must be very beautiful. Can you put it on my wrist?" A visible smile remained on her face, showing the dimples on her cheeks again. Gaara took the bracelet from her hand, undid the knot on the cord and tied it again around Ari's wrist.
Even though the two meet every day, over time these meetings have become less frequent. Especially after Ari graduated from the ninja academy and joined a team where he started going on missions. A few months after Ari's team was formed, she and her team partners were recommended for the chunin exam, which they participated in and passed. In the meantime, Gaara barely had time to see his friend but he always asked his sister, Yujim, about her, who said that she was fine and that she was just busy doing missions.
Gaara became increasingly violent as he lost her company; Angry because his only friend abandoned him. But a part of him wished he could meet the oldest girl in the park where they met.
When it was his turn to take the chunin exam, at first he wanted to kill everyone due to Sukaku's influence but then he thought about sparing Yujim's life, he couldn't bear to see the girl's older sister cry due to her sister's death. During the third phase, before his fight, he saw her.
"Gaara, I’m happy that you made it to the finals." The redhead remained with his arms crossed and his face frowning, but inside he felt the urge to hug her.
"Hm." He mumbled, rolling his eyes.
The conversation did not continue, Gaara's battle with Sasuke was announced. Ari returned to the stands, sitting next to his mother and sister, Yujim managed to win his battle thanks to the sound ninja who didn't attend and his mother, BoA, always makes a point of attending and supporting her daughters.
The last thing she remembers was falling into a genjutsu and blacking out. When she woke up, her sister seemed to be fighting with a boy and some other voices.
"Naruto! You can't go after your enemies without even thinking of a plan!"
"Yujim is right Naruto, it's better to stay here and wait for the situation to resolve itself." A male voice spoke followed by a yawn.
"What is happening?" Ari asked loudly, drawing the attention of others.
"Ari! Please help us!" Her sister ran towards the girl and helped her face the large crack in the coliseum. "Gaara and the other sand ninjas ran away, Sasuke went after them to want to fight with Gaara and Naruto wants to go after them."
"Wow, you summed up what’s going on well." Shikamaru grumbled, snuggling on the floor
"Are only the three of you free from the genjutsu?"
"No, there is another girl, Sakura Haruno, who went to find someone to help us. But so far it hasn't come back."
"Right. Naruto, you can go after them, but the other boy who is lying down go with him. Yujim and I will stay here in case reinforcements arrive and we will explain the situation." He gave the orders calmly, hoping that the three children understood.
"Why do I have to go? I don't want to babysit Naruto." Yawned Shikamaru again "Anyway, how are we going to find their trail?"
The oldest smiled at the question.
"Do you guys have any objects or hairs from Sasuke or any of the other ninjas who went with him?"
Naruto and Yujim started touching their own robes.
"There's this here." Naruto said holding up a set of bandages that were in one of the mini backpacks that were in his jumpsuit. "I remember Sasuke using this on his wounds on a mission and I kept it for myself."
"Perfect, thank you Naruto." Ari took the bandages carefully so as not to touch the blood that had already dried on it, with one hand a chakra energy began to form, the chakra began to take on a transparent circular shape and fused with the bandages. A small light was made in the girl's hands blinding the three genins, when the light went out a floating ball with Sasuke's image appeared. "Follow that bubble, it will show you where they went."
"Wow! How did you do that?!" Stars could be seen in Naruto's eyes as he stared at the bubble in awe.
"Yeah, it's cool, but let's go before I change my mind." Shikamaru pulled Naruto by the collar of his clothes.
"You're good for a genin." A male voice was heard along with frantic footsteps.
"Kakashi-sensei! Wait!" The female voice was breathless, from her breathing she must have been running a lot.
"Did Sakura get backup?"
"I'm the backup." The man nominated himself "And I saw what that girl with her eyes covered did, not bad for a genin."
"I'm not a genin, I'm a chunin."
The conversation could not continue, fake ANBU appeared and Kakashi went to distract them while Ari, Sakura and Yujim freed other ninjas to stop them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The memories she had of Gaara and Yujim's chunin exams, although grounded and not very clear, were still good to her. Of course, it was the examination of his friend and his sister. She is especially happy that her friend Gaara was able to achieve his dream of becoming a kazekage, who would have thought that the shy little boy who was afraid of doing something bad to someone would become The kazegake of the sand - literally -. She wasn't behind either, a few days before Gaara's ceremony she was named the new leader of Jinyowon.
"Do you still use that?" She heard his voice but didn't turn her head to look, she already knew he was there.
"I don't have the courage to take it off, did you lose yours?"
"Yes... I remember putting it somewhere in my room before my ceremony and when I went to check it wasn't there." The redhead sighed. "I wondered if it was Temari or Kankuro."
"Probably Kankuro, he must have thought it was a gift for him."
"Yeah." Gaara chuckled at her response.
Silence once again settled in the park, the redhead observed the circular moon, it was a full moon night. The other felt the cold winds of the night hitting her slightly tanned skin, in these last few weeks she hadn't even had time to breathe, let alone get a tan.
"Do you think I'll be a good kazekage?"
"I have no doubt, you will be a great kazekage." He smiled at her statement.
"But now that I'm the leader of Jinyowon and you're the kazegake, we probably won't be able to meet as often as before, right?" She began, with a voice that indicated complete sadness.
"Don't worry, we'll still see each other. Obviously not as much as before."
She smiled, showing the dimples he loved so much about her. He loves everything about her, her voice, skill in battle and even the way she gets embarrassed when her mother starts talking about her. He had been trying to declare himself for days but was unable to do so due to pure nervousness and fear of being rejected.
"Have you... ever been afraid of me?" The sudden question made the girl turn her head to the redhead beside her.
"Excuse me?"
"Have you ever been afraid of me?" He repeated.
He was full of insecurities when it came to other people's opinions of himself. Since childhood he has been upset by other children's mean words towards him and because of this he has developed insecurity about this.
"Gaara, you are not a monster to make anyone afraid." She turned to the man and took both of his hands gently, "Your beauty never ever scared me."
They both smiled, holding each other's hands. Ari was without her typical blindfold with the symbol of her clan and because of that Gaara looked at her black eyes that because of the night moonlight had a blue color in them.
"You know, I like you. Like, like to the point where my chest hurts when you're not around." Gaara thought it was a good time to say this.
"It seems we feel the same way."
"Hello?"
Ari gently grabbed Gaara's face with his hands and quickly touched their lips. The redhead was startled by the surprise attack but accepted it as soon as he realized what was happening, the two entered into a calm and affectionate kiss. The kiss didn't last long, but it was truly a giant step for their relationship.
"Does this mean we're dating now?" Ari asked, trying not to smile like an idiot.
"I think so." Ari had to hold back even more to hold back her smile and the redhead laughed at her expression. "You look like an idiot trying not to smile like that."
"Then I'll love you like an idiot does." Again, the older woman pulled the man in for a kiss again.
Further away from the two lovebirds were Kankuro, Temari and Yujim watching their brothers.
"The situation is heating up there." Kankuro said, watching the couple kissing.
"Isn't it better if we get out of here? Then my mother shows up and sees the two of them there..." Yujim was trying to give his sister and her boyfriend more privacy but it wasn't working so well.
"Relax Yujim, they won't notice us." Temari reassured her.
The three of them watched the brothers for a while just to make sure they were okay. The two had left the congratulatory party for Gaara's new position.
After the festivities ended, the redhead dragged his feet along the sandy roads towards his home, he was exhausted but at the same time happy. After so long he managed to confess his feelings to his first and only love and he also managed to achieve his dream, thanks to that a small smile was formed on his lips.
This happiness didn't last long, he saw a giant white bird surrounding the village in the sky. It turned out that that bird was made of explosive clay and the redhead was kidnapped by two members of Akatsuki, a criminal organization that only recruited S-rank criminals. When the sun rose, many people were saddened by what happened to the kazekage, one of the most It was Ari who was shaken, she had practically declared her love a day ago and the guy she likes was simply kidnapped.
Foil reinforcements arrived and a rescue mission was requested. Ari was one of the sand ninjas sent to accompany them, along with her sister Yujim and a woman from the village council, an elderly woman called Chiyo.
"You can go ahead, I'll be a little late." The black-haired one spoke as she stopped her walk in the desert. Her speech caught the attention of the entire group, causing everyone to stare at her. "Don't worry, I'll catch up with you."
"Sis, what are you going to do?" Yujim asked arching an eyebrow at his sister as the group continued their walk.
"Do not worry." He responded promptly. "I'm going to bring a certain 'shining stone' back."
"What?! Are you crazy? Nobody knows where it..."
"Hey! Yujim! Are you coming or not?!" Naruto's booming voice could be heard on the other side of the world.
Before the youngest could try to stop it, her sister completely disappeared from her sight. She had no other choice but to follow the rest of the group and wish her older sister well, a lot of time has passed and so far no one has found the ice stone. The former kazekage, Gaara's father, had hidden the stone beneath the vast desert, this made many people give up searching because how would they find a stone beneath many grains of sand, without a precise location of where to start looking? and without even knowing if you're going to get out of this alive. The desert can be a very dangerous and scary place.
She spent almost an entire day walking through the desert to see if she could feel anything, and in the end it was a long mission. She found the stone, now what was left was to follow the others' chakra, it wasn't difficult considering they had the copy ninja, a doctor, a biju, a old lady and an artifact specialist with them.
Arriving at a giant cave, she felt as if she had arrived late. She heard cries and sniffles from many sides and followed with the ice stone in hand towards Naruto's chakra, who was crying, mourning his friend's death.
"Ari?" Sakura was the only one who noticed the presence of the woman with the blindfold. "I'm sorry, but..."
"It's okay." She responded promptly, still holding the stone tightly in his hands with chakra. The brunette walked towards the body of her former lover, although she couldn't see it in person, she could feel an energy draining from someone and heading towards Gaara. It wasn't something violent and It didn't intend to hurt his corpse, It wanted to save him. The brunette took the lady's hands off her boyfriend's chest.
"What are you doing? I'm going to save him." The old lady insisted.
"Let me do it."
The stone began to rotate in the brunette's hands, the clouds around the mountain began to form and became darker. The strongest winds, threatening to take some hats with them, formed a black powder from the stone.
"Ari, you're not going to do that, right?" Yujim asked approaching his sister, knowing exactly what was about to happen.
"Do what?!" Naruto, still with tears in his eyes, shouted.
"She's going to resurrect Kazegake." BoA, who appeared along with other sand ninjas, replied the blonde boy.
"Then why.."
Naruto didn't have time to scream once more as the sight of Ari hugging Gaara's awake body caught sight of him. The dark-haired woman wore a white scarf over her eyes, which were now soaked by the tears running down her cheeks. The redhead just comforted his girlfriend with a hug, as he had no idea how to help her.
"Don't scare me like that again..." The girl whispered in her muffled voice.
"I'll try."

summary. yul falls for you // soft moments w yul as your guard
word count. 3,6k
Tumblr media
“a bodyguard?” seo yul repeated in disbelief, eyes wide and directed at his uncle. his voice echoed in the wide room as the older man just nodded.
“the l/n family just moved here and they’re a well respected people. their daughter was raised not to cause any harm and live peacefully; therefore, in case of an attack she wouldn’t be able to protect herself” park jin explained calmly. yul just nodded “it’s not going to be a permanent occupation, only until the time they find a professional guard for their daughter”
“i understand” yul bowed gently.
“i’m glad. we’ll pay them a visit in a while, i’d want you to go with me” park jin announced. his nephew didn’t say anything, just nodded. the older watched him leave the room almost as quietly as a rustle of wind.
yul was smiling gently while talking to your parents, genuinely invested in why they moved here. the tea that was served was truly delightful and he couldn’t help himself but ask for more. when the discussion topic turned into a political one, the young mage looked around the garden. the gazebo they were seated in was cozy and prettily decorated, you could see the majority of the open space with one’s bare eye.
suddenly, yul saw a movement behind the peony bushes. he straighted his back and his hand rested on the grip of his sword.
eyes trained on the bush, he frowned upon hearing some voices.
out of the blue, someone fell from the bushes with a yelp. everyone looked that way, lady l/n letting out a huff.
“there she is… gods, this child will make me die because of an heart attack one day” she mumbled.
indeed, there was a young lady standing in front of the peony bush. she was dusting off the pink flower petals and leaves from her pastel purple hanbok. everyone could notice she was saying something to herself and seemingly, she didn’t realise she wasn’t alone.
“this is our daughter, y/n” your father sighed.
you looked up and suddenly saw the four people’s gazes on you. blood of embarrassment rushing to your cheeks, you approached them.
bowing gently you greeted the guests and a young man caught your attention. it seemed that you caught his too – he was staring at you in awe.
“greetings” you mumbled and refused to look at the unfamiliar people.
“where have you been– you know what? i done even wish to know. this is your new bodyguard, seo yul” your father pointed at the young man in light purple hanbok. you smiled upon realising it had the shade as yours. sending him a nod, he bowed.
his face was truly handsome and being honest, you were glad it was him and not the older man seated next to him.
“it is my pleasure to meet you. i promise, a single hair won’t fall off your head as long as i’ll be guarding you” he said softly. his ebony irises were glued to you, enchanted by your beauty. park jin just lifted the corner of his lips in a smirk, noticing how smittened his nephew is.
“and your name is…?” you asked, ignoring the look your mother sent your way.
“seo yul, lady l/n” the brown haired man replied, his feline-alike features causing you to study his face. then, your gaze fell upon his plum-shaded hanbok with tender, blueish sewings forming peonies. how ironic.
“i like your hanbok, seo yul” you smiled and bowed, then looked at your parents “i still need to unpack my baggage so if you’ll excuse me, i shall get going”
they just nodded and dived back in to the conversation whereas the young mage’s eyes followed you until you disappeared inside the house.
you were so pretty and graceful yet – unlike choyeon – you had a rebellious spark in your eye. something in you just intrigued seo yul and he didn’t even notice when he tried to drink from an empty porcelain cup.
the young mage arrived at your residence, the warm sun heating up his skin pleasantly. the fresh air was filled with the scent of flowers that blossomed in the garden, the birds’ singing beautifully filling in the silence.
someone from the servants led him to your chamber and knocked gently, looking at the new addition to the staff.
“lady y/n is very… childish. please, don’t be afraid to tell her no if she has an ridiculous idea or a foolish request” they said. yul frowned and suddenly the door opened, your maid looking the man up and down.
“you may come in” she said and yul stepped inside.
“who is it?” your voice rung in the room yet you weren’t nowhere in sight. only when your maid came to the folding screen and stepped behind it, he realised you’re there.
blush hit his cheeks and he shook his head.
“it’s seo yul, lad–” he started.
“we’re the same age, i assume. please, don’t use any of the honorific words and nicknames” you hummed and then said something to your maid “this ribbon, please”
yul looked around the room. he didn’t spend much time with noble women except choyeon, yet he thought it’s something known that women tend to be tidy. well…
maybe your room was somehow clean, it definitely had it’s own charm. history books on the floor, along with calligraphy supplies. horse-themed ornaments scattered on the wooden furniture, makeup tools next to a pretty mirror and… empty plates.
“can you show me around the city today, yul?”
his gaze snapped up and he felt his face get warm when he noticed you caught him staring. but there was no anger or disgust in your eyes, no. pure amusement and excitement.
“of course” he nodded, taking in the sight of you. today, you decided to wear a faint yellow hanbok. the sewings at the bottom of the dress were gold and formed a beautiful scenery: young deers, forest plants and wild birds. the rest of the clothing, including the frame of your sleeves, was white. there was a yellow ribbon in your braided hair.
“we shall go, then” you grinned and energetically stormed out of the room. he looked shocked at the maid. the older lady just sighed, dramatically wiping her forehead.
“good luck” she just mumbled and seo yul chased after you, with a love-struck smile.
“so? what are you going to show me? can we see the mage place?” you asked, not even turning around when you heard his footsteps approaching.
you knew he’d say no: you heard that only mages were allowed to enter the place and after all – sadly – you were no mage.
“sure, i’ll take you to jeongjinjak. but be aware that the mages might not be too pleased to see you there” he answered casually and just when he caught up with you, you halted your movements. yul realised he had to stop and turn around, blinking.
“really?” you asked in disbelief, lips forming into a huge smile.
“of course, why not?” seo yul returned your smile.
“i thought… ah, it doesn’t matter. we should go, then” you hummed happily.
yul already knew that he won’t be able to resist you.
“oh my, it’s beautiful here” you sighed when you entered jeongjinjak. the place was spacious and quiet, the air filled with a feeling of seriousness and a scent of old books “do you live here?”
yul nodded, his hand intertwined behind his back as you two strolled around the place carefully.
“my uncle is in charge of this place” yul added. passing by some young mages that were training, you sent them a sweet smile and bowed gently.
they all stared at you in awe, immediately losing focus and stumbling over their own feet. giggling at that, you failed to notice the disapproving look yul sent them.
“i always wanted to at least possess the power ryusu” you hummed sadly “but my parents were never willing to find me a teacher, even though they know some of the stages themselves. selfish, isn’t it?”
you turned to yul and his apologetic smile. there was a certain softness in his features, a look that was different to what you always stumble upon. most of the people assumed you’re a spoiled brat and treated you this way. but yul was the only one who didn’t: he was carefully listening and genuinely cared about what you said.
“i can teach you the basics, y/n” he offered and before you could burst out with happiness, he quickly added “but it must remain a secret between us”
“of course it will” you grinned and quickly went to hug him. you realized your actions and froze, feeling ashamed of your impulsiveness. seo yul noticed that and his heart ached with a strange feeling. were you taught to suppress your emotions? “thank you so much, yul”
“it will be my pleasure, la– y/n” he smiled, ebony irises glinting with happiness. you held eye contact for a mere moment longer before there was a sudden bang.
it was the mages in training who were just staring at you and didn’t notice that they tripped over the edge of the passage.
spending time with yul became a part of your routine. however, it wasn’t a negative thing. you loved his company; for the first time ever you felt like you had a friend. someone who truly cared for you.
a knock at your door caused you to smile. yul had a specific pattern of knocking – it sounded like a tender melody, rhythmic but pleasant to listen to.
“come in!” you hummed, finishing braiding your hair. your guard entered, bowing and scanning your figure (not so) secretly.
“good morning” he hummed, stepping in. you could read it on his face that he wanted to add something but halted from doing so. ‘you look stunning today’ was what lingered on his lips, albeit his shyness prevented him from wording it out.
“what should we do today?” you asked, tilting your head.
you adored seo yul – he always kept up with your ideas and temper. most of the maids were old and always too tired to even take a short walk. even though he wasn’t your maid – and certainly, he wasn’t old – he never had a problem with taking strolls around the city or showing you the neighbourhood . sometimes it included walking through hills, high grasses and small rivers. but he was always willing to do so.
“is there something particular you wish to do?” he asked, his tender voice calm as always.
“not really, no” you shook your head.
“then, we could go–”
he wasn’t meant to finish when your mother barged into the room. her face morphing into relief when she noticed you.
“you’re here, good. do not leave the house today, i heard there are some… civil commotions in the city. and it’s been dangerous lately” she said and her eyes met yul’s. he bowed “oh, you’re here. you can go home now. y/n’s not leaving the household today”
“but mother, i–” you started.
“no. it’s too dangerous” she cut you off and left, the maids closing the door behind her.
yul watched your features grow sad and his heart sank. you lost your excitement, eyes gradually fogging with a strange, bland emotion.
“it’s fine. i’m not in the mood anymore, you can go home” you mumbled, turning your face to the window.
“i’m not in the position to disobey your mother’s orders, however i’m your guard” yul offered and carefully studied your reaction “and not to brag or be overconfident, but you’re going to be safe under my watch”
there was a ghost of a smile dancing on your lips as you played with the hem of your hanbok.
“mhm… and what if my parents found out?” you hummed, cocking your eyebrow.
“i’d take the responsibility” yul said seriously. shaking your head, you stood up.
“no need, i was just teasing you. shall we go, then? where are we going, anyway?” you asked.
“to the market. i believe you haven’t seen it yet, y/n?” he asked with a tender smile.
“no, our maids do the duty of providing food…” you hesitated and stopped yul before he left. his eyes widened when he felt your hand on his chest “how are we going to leave? it’s the middle of the day, everyone will see us”
“just trust me, lady” he hummed and slid his hand to grab yours “may i?”
you nodded. yul’s gentle and smooth hand took in yours, as if scared that he’ll cause harm. blush spreading across your cheeks, you looked away and let him lead you.
seo yul was like a cat – his moves were sharp and calculated, paying attention to if someone is coming or not. in no time, you left through the back door and the garden. finding yourself in the middle of a busy street, you looked at him with wide eyes and a smile of gratitude.
“i’ll be using this route” you grinned and saw a flash of fear go through his face.
“no, don’t do that… you’ll get hurt or…” he started and you let out a gasp, drawing some passersby’s attention.
“what is that? that colorful thing? wait, yul, are those parrots?” you yelped in excitement and he couldn’t help but laugh sincerely. his features dropped when you ran off.
“wait a moment!” he giggled, adoring your excitement.
yul walked you through the market, explaing who’s selling what. the delicious smells and colors surrounded you, mouth agape as you took in all the amazing views. the young mage was stealing glances at you and how adorable you were while doing that.
“oh, the sweets!” he hummed and noticed you look that way curiously.
“can we get some?” you asked.
“of course” he grinned, hands interlocked behind his back. he followed you slowly while you already approached the seller. eyes meeting, you stood closer to him once yul arrived.
“what are we having? my treat!” you grinned “all of them look delicious…”
“my favourite are the pine pollen tea ones” he mumbled shyly, pointing at the greenish cookies.
“well then, we’ll have each one of everything” you hummed and noticed the seller’s eyes widen.
“ah, yul!”
you both turned around and saw a man with blonde hair approach you. while yul was distracted, you said something to the snack seller.
“what a beautiful lady… my name is park danggu” the blond man bowed dramatically as you stared him up and down.
“uh-uh. nice to meet you, i’m l/n y/n” you smiled and frowned, looking at yul. he just smiled.
“that’s a friend of mine” your guard explained and noticed all the snacks are already packed, waiting for you. suddenly, yul had a strange feeling ache in his heart: he did not want you to talk too much with danggu. “shall we go home?”
“oh, already?” you pouted, grabbing the bag. yul took it from you, fingers brushing against each other. blush spread on both of your cheeks. danggu smiled upon that.
“yeah, i’m busy either way. i will see you around, yul. don’t come home too late, though” danggu wiggled his brows and was off before yul could even say something.
“he’s silly” you snickered and poked his arm. yul seemed flustered.
on your way back you chatted all the time. you decided you won’t go anywhere once you’re home, so you dismissed yul to go back (only after thanking him for his company, of course).
once back at jeongjinjak, yul was surprised to see a package addressed for him.
it turned out you bought all the pine pollen tea snacks for him and had them delivered at his dorm.
the mage couldn’t help but melt and smile absentmindedly at the gesture.
Tumblr media
for a couple of days yul was dismissed from his duties: your parents gave him some spare time and you said you’re not in the mood to leave the house. it left him pondering if something is wrong and decided to ask you if everything is alright.
the time he spent without you made him realise something: life is bland when you’re not by his side. you’re so lively and energetic, yet so adorable at the same time. he missed you and had this tingling feeling in his heart whenever you weren’t around. yul was looking forward to the day he’ll meet you again.
after finally coming back to his duties, he went right away to your chamber. it was late and dark outside but a messenger called him, saying it was urgent. the mage thought something dangerous was happening.
“y/n?” yul asked, coming into the room. there was a couple of candles lighting up the room, shadows dancing on the walls.
“yul! let’s go out!” you whisper-yelled, grabbing his hands. a pleasant warmth spread through his body before he processed your words.
“what? i thought it was an emergency and you got hurt…” he mumbled.
“no, no. i’m fine. just bored to death… are there any horses…?” you asked hesitantly.
“h-horses?” he choked out, eyes widening. you shrugged nonchalantly.
“i feel like going on a horse ride”
you are insane.
“sure, we’ll find something” he scoffed, shaking his head. he shouldn’t be doing this; none of this, at all. he’s about to sneak out with a lady he was supposed to protect and do something that could potentially harm you. which, he was here to prevent in the first place.
but he couldn’t help it! he felt like you put a spell on him, he just wasn’t able to resist.
“we shall go then, my lady” he hummed. good thing the room was dimmed, otherwise he’d see how your face reddened with a shade of ruby-alike shade of the yin and yang jade.
yul held your hand gently and helped you leave through the window. erupting into quiet giggles when you almost stepped on his feet or when you passed the peony bush where he first saw you. under the cover of dark night sky, yul led you to a nearest stallion. he looked around, making sure no one saw you.
“y/n, do you even know how–” he turned around and gasped when he saw you already on the horse.
“can we go to the pretty fields? please…” you mumbled. yul nodded slowly and hopped on a horse too, leading the way.
“we should be back before sunrise…” he mumbled. there was a look of calmness in your face, almost unfamiliar.
wind in your hair, the sound of horse hooves pleasantly clacking against the ground underneath the starry sky caused your heart to soothe. the smell of fresh grass and yul’s silhouette beautifully framed by moonlight – it was a moment that you wanted to stay in forever.
arriving at the fields, you stopped next to a small stream. the water was rustling pleasantly, hypnotizing you. yul realized that you stopped following him and turned around, looking at you. something was troubling your mind, clearly.
“yul-ah”
even in the faint light you saw his eyes widen. cute.
“yes, y/n?” he asked, voice gentle.
“i think i… no. um, actually, no. i’ve been practising ryusu! can i show you?” you asked and he nodded, locking his hands between his back.
you put your body strength on your legs, focusing to keep your moves sharp and clean. chest moving up and down to keep your breathing regular and steady. just when you thought you got it–
“y/n, i think… my heart longs for you when you’re not present but then it acts as if it was possessed whether you hold my hand… i’d rather look at you than all of the stars or beautiful ornaments” yul said, his words carried by wind.
letting out a shaky breath, you looked at him. moonlight shining on his handsome face and somewhat scared eyes.
“why did i say that…” he mumbled.
you let out a melodic laugh and ran up to him, wrapping hands around his neck. yum was startled but held you gently.
“you fool” you mumbled, smiling against the fabric of his hanbok “my heart calls out for you too. i’ve been meaning to say that for while, that’s why i needed some time alone”
“huh?”
you leaned away and gently grabbed his face, cupping his cute cheeks.
“you’re the only one who understands me, yul-ah. i bask in your warmth and kindness, your spirit makes me feel alive– can… can i kiss you? i’m out of words” you asked. yup nodded shyly, unsure what to do with his hands.
placing your lips on his plump ones, he instinctively wrapped hus hands around your waist. pulling you closer and smiling softly into the kiss.
when you felt like you were running out of your breath, he pulled away.
“you need more training though…”
a frown formed on your face and he snickered.
“with ryusu?” you asked, unable to believe he just said that.
“no– well, yes. if you train your breathing, you’ll be able to kiss longer” a smirk danced on his lips “or the other way around. fortunately for you, i can help with such matter”
suddenly his eyes widened, the flirty behaviour disappeared in a blink of an eye.
“don’t tell your parents. or my uncle. we’re kind of… breaking the rules”
“i won’t” you smiled sweetly and tip-toed to smooch his cheek.
years spend alone without friends or love, barely with your parents caused your heart to ache in a mysterious and hurtful way. but now, with yul by your side, a soothing feeling washed over it as if someone put a calming balm. a balm called love.

Bittersweet- Seo Yul
Established relationship - fluff - angst - mention of blood and kissing!
Some things never really go the way we wanted it to be. The future changes everyone. Except it’ll took a while. God. The grief you went alone was extremely painful without him by your side.
Seo yul. Both of you had a bittersweet end. Or was it really the end of everything? Everyone went separate ways three years ago after that incident. The incident that made you suffer with sweat and tears to this day. You disappeared.
-
The view of a barrier surrounding Jeongjinak caught to your attention. You didn’t know why you were out in the first place. Watching as Jang uk and the crown prince throwing stones trying to get it through the barrier, which it only leads to reflecting back. Yul wasn’t here, but your mind couldn’t stop thinking about the argument you both had a few minutes ago. You haven’t heard anything from Yul but your gut is telling you something is wrong. Should you go check on him? From afar?
“Y/n? Are you okay? If you’re worried about being stuck in here then I can guarantee we get out soo-”
no. You weren’t worried about getting stuck in here. You were worried about something that could go wrong. There was a sharp pain in your chest. “ I’m sorry, I have to go.” Was the only thing you could voiced out before running. Running to Yul while silently hoping he would be alright. The charm you both have. You hated that. You hated how it always scares you if you feel somewhere in your body burning, like a sword through a chest.
This kind of feeling. A mix of terrified and regret in your mind. You regret everything, you wished you had listened to him instead of being stubborn.
You wished it wasn’t a reality to what you are currently seeing with your bare eyes as soon as you stepped inside. Everything around you collapsed. Like the only thing that you could still see was the man you love, lying on the table in a puddle of his own blood with a wound on his chest. A tear of yours poured, your own feet dragged your body to stand beside him. Yun ok tried to touch and clean his wound. “ he lost a lot of blood, if he doesn’t get the enough blood he needs, young master Seo might die.” your breath hitched.
So-i on the other hand was rambling something about threatening to cut out her own blood in order to save Yul. You won’t be needed that because you had already planned it. Even if it means the pain will be two times painful for you. “Love, I really need you to wake up.” You whispered, taking the sharp knife before watching as your blood drip down to the wound. You would be lying if it wasn’t painful.
Your hovered your hand in the air over the wound, feeling the energy working on its own. His chest looked like nothing had happened.
Seeing him moving made you breath in relief. Hissing at your injured hand and wrist. You felt his hand squeezing yours before his eyes slowly flutter open. His touch made you forget about everything that has been going on. It’s like stones getting lift off your shoulders.
“y/n.” you heard him called out your name and your attention quickly went towards Yul. Your clothes was stained with his blood. Yul saw how your other hand was wrapped.
This was the consequence.
-
That was the last time you saw him. Right after the barrier broke, he was taken to Sejukwon and you witnessed Jang uk’s death. That was the last time you got to hold Yul.
You thought that was the end for both of you. Nightmares were your best friend. Anxiety was painful. For three years. Three years you had waited for him. The first time you’ve heard rumours about him, it was recently how he was going to have a planned marriage with a Jinyowon daughter. Bu yeon.
Did he agree? Did he move on that fast? You didn’t know what your relationship with him is all about. Would he still remember you? Or was the past years of being in love with him was just flowing like the sea.
You don’t know what you were even doing. You saw So-i seems to be stalking on something, your eyes follow her vision and you saw someone familiar. Someone that you were longing for. Someone that you miss till death.
Yul.
You ran. You forget about everything else and went to his direction, standing in front of him while he takes his time to recognise who you are under the cloak. That’s before he realised it was you, burying you in his chest as he mutters your name.
“it’s really you… I thought you were gone. You didn’t reply to my letters and i-”
“I suffered a lot without you. The rumours. You were going to marry someone from Jinyowon. I thought you’ve… lost feelings.” His body tensed when you mentioned about the rumours.
It felt like falling in love all over again.
“Now that you’re here in my arms, I don’t think I could love anyone other than you. Love.”
