with out further ado, here’s a story of gang AU where reader meets retired gangster Reyleigh! please enjoy!

Title: Lost

CW: Gender neutral reader, SFW, mentions of gang violence, corrupt police, implied open marriage between Reyleigh and Shakky, library setting, later coffee shop setting, dilf crush, flirting from said dilf, heavy rain

Gang/modern AU

Plot: Reader gets to know Rayleigh pretty well after meeting in a library and the two go out for hot coffee on a rainy day. Reyleigh notices reader was looking up books about urban politics and gang violence and reveals himself to be a former gangster of one of the most notable gang in the city.

It was a freezing winter day, the rain showered any and all who dared to walk without an umbrella, pelting everyone with bullet like droplets and drenching their outfits.

You managed to minimize the damage when you saw the dark clouds heading your way an hour ago, quickly walking towards the nearest library. You were a little irritated as of all the days for a harsh rainstorm to hit your city, it had to be the day you decided to walk instead of drive, equipped with nothing but a flimsy umbrella. The forecast predicted the heavy rainstorm sometime later this week, you knew this well before hand but you didn’t think it would arrive so quickly or at least at this hour.

Now the issue wasn’t about your clothes getting wet, the issue was how you were going to safely get home? The ominous pitter patter coming from the ceiling above you constantly reminded you of that future problem, reminding you of all the bad choices you’ve made so far today.

You decided to put a hold on the issue and drew your focus back to the task before you: you wanted to find a book that described the history of gang violence in your city. Why? Maybe it was because of how movies romanticized the gang life or maybe it was because you always wondered what it would have been like to be a criminal? You always were fascinated by criminal cases and the psychology behind it too so that might’ve been another factor. 

What really drew your interest was one particular gang, an infamous gang that once terrorized the streets of your city decades ago: the Roger Pirates. And lo and behold, you found a book that covered the topic of this crew and their history.

The leader, Gol Roger, was notorious for bringing lots of prosperity the community but also for driving away other gangs from his territory. He was known for many things and was seen as a controversial figure in your city; some criticized his methods and use of violence while others praised him for keeping the community safe from outside powers and police corruption.

However, after some back and forth with the police, he was eventually caught and was given the death sentence almost immediately but not before announcing a hidden “treasure” he had left behind in his wake. 

Unfortunately for the police, this act only further enticed everyone else to find that lost “treasure” that Roger had hidden away, bringing about the creation of small time gangs that riddled the streets you lived on to this day. Perhaps Roger’s legendary tale and the possibility of finding this so called “One Piece” drew you to these things.

You shuffled through the pages when suddenly a voice yanked you out of your bubble.

“You know who those guys are Y/N?” said a deep voice beside you. You nearly jumped out of your skin. How did you not hear someone walk up behind you? You were so caught up in your daydreams to not notice the figure.

You turned around, looking up to find an elderly man smiling down on you; you felt relieved as you recognized this man, this was the same man who frequented this section of the library as much as you. You two knew of each other and would often greet and wave at the other whenever you two crossed paths. 

His white hair strands were lightly coated with water droplets, he must’ve entered the library fairly recently you thought. He wore a thick navy blue coat with beige faux fur on the inside. Beside the expensive looking jacket, he had on him a pair of name brand circle rimmed glasses, from what you gathered from past conversations, this man seemed pretty wealthy, probably that retirement money.

“I…uh…” You stammered. “I have an idea of who they are”. You weren’t sure why you felt so shy all of a sudden, it’s not like you two were complete strangers but this was the first time you two have spoken outside of pleasantries; you were maybe worried of what he would say upon finding out about the dark content you were reading. You’d never admit it publicly but you did find this gentleman attractive as well; he seemed to be in really good shape for someone his age. 

The older man took notice of this internal panic of yours and chuckled, attempting to dispel the tension in the air. 

“I didn’t mean to scare you, my apologies. Are you studying for a class? I’ve seen you around here often”. 

The familiarity made you feel a little better, and even then, he didn’t come across as someone to be wary of, he just seemed like a sweet old man. 

“Oh! Not really, I find this sort of thing interesting.”

“Oh really?” He scanned the page you were on and his eyes lit up.

He quickly pointed to a photograph in the book you held, a black and white photograph of a group of young men running from something or someone out of view, probably the police. 

The old man smiled, “Hey that’s me!”.

“Yeah right!” you giggled.

“No really! You don’t see it?” The gentleman paused. “Well I guess you can’t really tell from this angle, those cops were never the best photographers.” He chuckled, “Mind I see the book?”

“Sure.” you replied, passing the book to him. He flipped through the pages of the book, scanning its contents and finally stopping on one specific page. He looked at you with gleaming eyes and a giddy smile, “Can I show you something?” 

You rolled your eyes; whatever this old man had to show you was probably going to be a mugshot of some young fella and he was gonna make another joke about it being him when he was younger. You still decided to entertain his shenanigans nonetheless as you didn’t see the harm in it. He was just another playful old man.

“Yeah why not? Sure”. you said as you shrugged your shoulders.

“Ok but you have to promise me you’ll be quiet, understand?” He whispered, tapping his lips with this index finger to emphasize his point.

“Yes yes yes I understand.” You responded back in a hushed, whimsical tone.

The older gentleman looked around and over his shoulders first, making sure no one beside them were around. He passed you the book with his thumb on the page, bookmarking it until it was securely placed in your hands. You put your thumb on the page in place of his, you had to admit you respected him more for not folding the corner of the page to save his place. Unbuttoning his coat, he let it fall on the ground, you raised an eyebrow at his behavior but didn’t speak out, you figured this was just some set up for a joke or punchline.

The old man was wearing a tucked in, button up long sleeve shirt and began to undo the buttons on his arm, your smiled disappeared as you gasped: inked into the his arm were the words “Dark King” in the same font as the Rogers pirates gang logo with a small skull and crossbones on his wrist. He smiled, only this time, his smile seemed laced with a mischievous and almost guilty energy.

Your eyes scanned his tattoo and back down to the book. The page he bookmarked was another photograph with the members of the Roger Pirates gang lined up and posing for the photo and had the older man not saved this page and shown you his arm, you would have missed him in the background, standing tall and proud, surrounded by his crew, his tattoo clearly shown. The second in command, right hand man of the infamous Pirate King Roger, Silvers Reyleigh was standing before you, chuckling at your bewilderment.

Your jaw wanted to drop at this revelation but you needed to remain composed. You weren’t so much as scared but more along the lines of intrigued and captivated at this new information.

You started slowly, “So… you weren’t joking about the guy running in the other photo? That was you?”

Reyleigh laughed, “Oh you thought I was joking? You’re so cute.” You could only blush at his teasing, your face becoming adamantly red. “Is there anything you want to know?” He slowly started rolling down his sleeve and fixing his attire.

Your head was spinning, wondering why Dark King Reyleigh just revealed himself to you of all people? You needed answers first, who you thought was a sweet older gentleman turned out to be one of the city’s former terrors. “Why are you telling me these things?” your voice was shaking slightly.

He let out a little grunt as he picked his coat off the floor, swinging it over his shoulder as he faced your direction. 

“Because I like you.” He smirked, the edges of his grin grew at the sight of your embarrassment. The way he didn’t hesitate and flat out give you his earnest feeling was heartwarming in a weird way. 

“Well…” You coughed. “If it’s alright, could… May I ask you a few questions sir?” Your stance stiffened as you felt you were obligated to respect him, not only as your elder but as a retired gangster. 

Since you dared not look directly into his eyes, you didn’t see Reyleigh's smile turn somber but you could hear it in his tone.

“Come on now, you don’t have to be so formal with me, just talk to me the way you did before.” He patted your back, “How about we get some hot drinks and I’ll tell you more? It’s my treat.”

“Ah.. Right.” You spoke. You didn’t say it out loud but you sort of figured that discussing criminal activities in a government facility like the library was a terrible idea, Reyleigh was trying to take private matters to a more private location, reducing the risk of being overheard by the wrong person.

As you two made your way out of the library, you had to stop all the questions rushing through your head and bring forth the most obvious one: was this man to be trusted?

Yes you met him in a library more than once before, yes you never once felt like you were in any danger around him, and yes he never seemed to stick his nose in anyone else’s business but his own, minus today. But then again, looks can be deceiving.

Reyleigh stopped at the library entrance and turned to face you, swiftly removing his coat and wrapping you with it instead. You tried to refuse the gesture but it was already too late. 

“Reyleigh you don’t have t-“

“Nonsense, I can’t have you walking in the rain like that. I’ll borrow your umbrella if that will make you feel better!” He chirped. Despite your protest, you couldn’t help but smile at his words and actions.

Reyleigh led you to his car, putting his arm around you as he held the umbrella, bringing you two closer. Something about Reyleigh put you at ease, whether it was the fact he was your tiny library crush or the fact that he was a former gangster, you couldn’t tell. Your mind and your heart couldn’t have been more opposite than at this moment.

You hopped into his old car as soon as Reyleigh opened the passenger door for you, closing it firmly. As he made his way around to the driver’s side, you made mental notes of the interior, immediately noticing the impeccable condition of the car despite its age, it truly passed the test of time as you could only conclude that Reyleigh took really good care of the car, keeping up with maintenance and what not.

Reyleigh stepped into the driver's side and started up the engine. He turned to look at you with a sheepish smile on his face.

“We have to wait a while, this old thing takes a few minutes to warm up.” He said, leaning forward to turn down the radio and turn up the heater.

The cabin of the car was silent for a few moments until you spoke up, needing an answer to the most pressing question you had. 

“Why did you start talking to me today?” you asked. “I think there’s more to it than what you said earlier.”

His face became serious as he pondered on how to approach your question, Reyleigh rested his hand on his chin before finally coming up with a response.

“It’s simple, I like you.” he chuckled. “Now here’s a question for you: do you think most people would get into a car with a criminal?” 

“Nope” you answered.

“Exactly. I like people like you, you’re open minded and you’re not afraid of being honest. You were one of the few people who treated me with kindness even after I showed you who I was.” he paused, taking in a deep breath. “Most people who recognize me would treat me like dirt and worse even after all these years passed by. Sometimes I still have to watch my back to make sure someone from a rival gang doesn’t spot me. It’s not a clean or easy life. You know all this but yet, you still saw the humanity in people like me”.

You sat there looking at him, both in awe and with red hues darkening your face at one of the most sincere compliments you’ve ever received. It almost felt undeserved.

“I just…” you started. “I don’t see the point in treating criminals like trash. In your guys' case, I feel like you and Roger did more for our city than what the police could ever hope to do.”

You turned to face Reyleigh, staring deep into his eyes as you uttered your next statement. 

“If anything, I always felt like the cops were a gang of their own.”

The two of you sat in silence, listening to the pitter patter of the rain showering the car. Reyleigh put the car in first gear and started to drive off.

“You see it that way too huh?… Do you want to know why I visit the library so often?”

It hadn’t occurred to you until he mentioned it but now your interest was piqued. 

“Why is that?”

“Well… since my friend was given the death penalty, he doesn’t exactly have a grave, or at least one that I can legally visit…”

“I see…”

“Roger didn’t have any family that would visit his grave or that I knew of besides his son, but their relationship has always been… strained.”

“Roger had a son? Wait… I… A son?!” You had your hands running through your hair, completely baffled by this news. You never once thought Roger the pirate king fucked but it seemed so obvious and silly to think of now. Like of course he did, he was the biggest and baddest gangster in his prime. 

“Oh! You didn’t know?” Reyleigh glanced at you as he drove. “Well I’m not surprised they don’t mention it in the books. Last I heard, that kid is part of a rival gang of his father’s, hanging out with the young bloods doing who knows-what nowadays. Besides that, I don’t know much more. He’s probably around your age or at least part of your generation.”

You mentally shook your head and returned your attention back to Reyleigh, you were going to put Roger’s son on hold.

“So why do you come to the library again?”

“Ah yes! I almost forgot. You said the police are like a gang of their own so I’m sure you can see why I can’t visit my friend, it’d be trespassing since I'm not an immediate family member. As much as I dislike those pigs, I really rather stay on the low and avoid any more trouble.”

“Why? Are you still wanted or something?” You joked.

The car stopped at that one red light that took way too long to turn green, Reyleigh suddenly made a right, flipped a bitch, and then made a right, scaring you half to death from how fast he was driving, almost like he could predict what would happen next.

“What do you think?” He smirked at you, relishing in your shocked expression that reminded him of a scared cat.

“Alright I see your point.” you sighed in exasperation.

Reyleigh continued, “Visiting the library and seeing his face and all my old crew like that is really the only way I can mourn if I can be honest.” He laughed quietly. “You might not believe it, coming from a hard gangster like me, but I used to cry in this car every time after I had visited the library. Today is the first time in a while that I haven’t and it’s thanks to you. For once, I left the library on a good note.”  He pulled over to the side and parked the car, smiling as he looked over to you blushing madly. 

“Are you falling for me Y/N?” His eyebrow raised up comically, clearly enjoying the sight he was seeing. “My my this is only our first date dear.”

“Our first d-?” You put your face in your hands, attempting to hide your embarrassment. 

“Hey I did say I like you, is it really that much of a surprise?”

You opened up a finger to let your eye peep through, looking back at Reyleigh.

“Well no I just thought… you were already with… someone… so…”

Reyleigh paused for a bit before responding. “I see. Tell you what, next time we’re going to my place and I’ll introduce you to my wife. You’ll love her!”

“So you are married then!” You exclaimed.

“Don’t worry, I’m sure you two will like each other too! I’ve already told her how cute you are before.”

You let out a small groan, just how did everything fall into place like this? Your only plans for today were to visit the library and go home to lounge about. Now suddenly your library crush is flirting with you in his car and seems to be in an open marriage, a thought that made you flushed with all the naughty mental imagery that flooded your mind. Oh and he was/is a retired gangster too.

He patted your back and caressed it afterwards. “Hey don’t worry about it, let’s just go get our coffee and talk!” He said with an obvious jovial tone. It was really wholesome to see a man like Reyleigh be so happy to have a hot drink with someone who accepted him completely.

Carlos Santana's career found him on many places. One such was The Healer by John Lee Hooker, which reminds me of Supernatural by Mr. Santana in a way.  No, the sound differs from the LP I mentioned, yet the ethoses of both records correspond, i.e. let's make an important musician popular again by allowing the latter to collaborate with the latter's famous fans. Of course, the main problem with these records lies in the fact they smooth out the rough edges of their musicians too much despite them providing us with several reasons for the successes of the players. However, one shouldn't be upset over the Healer as the disc gave Mr. Hooker a well deserved triumph that put him on the path of becoming one of the elder statesmen.

Final PRSC update:

Hey guys, as you know my best friend and beloved co-writer left tumblr about two weeks ago, and as part of our deal for leaving, I asked him if after he left if I could spoil the rest of the PRSC. He agreed to it, because we both know now we're never getting back to it lmao. Well, tonight, during our conversation, I asked him explicit permission to upload the 44 page document of lore and unreleased entries we had created, and he agreed.

There are a few things that we came up with that are canon, but we didn't get the chance to write down, like everything after Day 22. However, I'll spoil the end for you now: the final battle is between Fripp and Ian, and Ian wins. He is then congratulated by Roger Waters, who reveals he set up the PRSC in order to promote The Wall and kill off prog competition. Ian promptly knocks him out. The last entry was planned to be David Gilmour apologizing on Pink Floyd's behalf, claiming that the PRSC was entirely Roger's doing, and that the rest of Pink Floyd had nothing to do with it. So, yeah.

Anyway, as for specifics after Day 22: - The Conglomerate disintegrates, Carl sacrifices himself - Rick and Keith have a final encounter, and we killed them both off - That drives Ian to find Fripp and Muir and take them out - The end :D Here's the link

Some other fun facts: We also originally had Tony Kaye in the PRSC, and he was gonna be killed off via mysterious STD

I wrote all the even days, including Day 0, and my friend wrote all the odd days, which is why it switches back and forth from American English and British English Pink Floyd were originally gonna be contenders as well, but we were having a hard time killing that many people off, so my friend came up with the twist ending. We were also going to include the scene where Fripp poisons Broof in a special update that we never got around to writing. We were also going to make Fripp x Broof fanfic and pose as one of our readers sending that on anon to the account.

The Two Dumb Blonds skit was written by us roleplaying as Alex and Rick, and then copying that conversation. Hope you enjoy cause you're not getting any more (unless you ask nicely in my asks)!!!

RWRB: Henry x Alex AU where both are actors paired together in a niche queer rom-com called "My Dear F***ing Prince."

Something has changed!

Henry can't put a finger on it, but he can feel it all the time.

He knows he isn't supposed to feel this way. He is a professional. He has been under the spotlight practically his whole life, and he has seen enough of the glitz and glamour of showbiz to become immune to it.

Or so he thought!

But Alex is different. That man doesn't have one fake fiber in his body! He smiles free and wide, like a child who is on a perpetual sugar high. He is passionate, kind, funny, and have eyelashes that remind Henry of storm clouds over a rainforest!

Henry looks across the room where Alex is getting his hair done. He is chatting up a storm with their hairdresser, Kathy. Henry can't take his eyes off him. Those unruly curls dance with each shake of his head. Those little dimples cut across Henry's heart with the sharpest pang...

And Henry's bleeding beating heart pounds with such an intensity he's afraid he might faint.

Alex's gaze turns towards him, and he winks jovially. Henry gives him a brief nod and averts his gaze.

"This is sick! Sick! Sick!" He screams in his head.

He can't feel that way. Their whole dynamic is built on trust. And Henry absolutely can't break it. God knows this is one of the toughest characters he has ever played, and the last thing he needs right now is a distraction.

But Alex is not just a distraction, he is the eye of a hurricane threatening to destroy the walls Henry has so carefully built around himself!

"Sex is like dance", says Robert, their intimacy coordinator.

"Did I mention I am a champion dancer?" Alex giggles, his low whisper tickles Henry's neck.

It's maddening... His scent is! A blend of cardamom and mint, and something that's just Alex.

"One, two, squeeze, and release. Then run your fingers lightly through his hair. Three, the kiss, and then a breath. Hold. And repeat," Bob taps his fingers in perfect sync as he explains the entire sequence like a dance routine.

Henry feels like he is running a fever. Alex is already in his breathing space. They are practically breathing the same air! It's too much for his poor heart to take!

"Oi, focus!" A little tug on his hair brings Henry back to earth. Alex has a blinding grin on his face. "I know I've mad charm but don't lose yourself, mate, I need you here."

Henry offers him a tight smile, refusing to meet Alex's eyes. He didn't trust his own voice to say anything.

"I am Henry F*cking Fox. I can do this sh*t!" He lets out a deep breath and steels himself.

"Alright, you boys ready for the first kiss?" Their director, Michael, approaches with a mischievous smile. His voice carries comfort and familiarity, and Henry already feels slightly calmer.

"Ready as we'll ever be..." Henry croaks.

"Can't wait!" Alex chirps.

"Let's go over it one final time," Mike leafs through the script and hums thoughtfully.

"The Prince leaves the party, drunk and disoriented. His own brother has humiliated him moments ago in front of other guests. He is on the verge of a panic attack, and he can't even make it to his room. He stumbles into the guest room accidentally, and you..." Mike turns to Alex "Take care of him as he has a breakdown, and you two share a tender moment befor the Prince flees."

"Swoon!" Alex clutches his chest dramatically, earning a slap on the wrist from Henry.

"Ow! What was that for? You literally gotta swoon into my arms, you royal d*ckhead!" Alex protests, rubbing his wrist gingerly.

"Language, Diaz!" Mike shakes his head, smiling fondly.

"Sorry, Captain," Alex shrugs.

"Remember, you have a safe word," The intimacy coordinator chimes in.

"And why can't it be 'squirrel'?" Alex pouts.

"Knock it off, Diaz," Mike chuckles, but then his expression turns serious. "Any time one of you boys feel even slightly uncomfortable, just say 'Red' and I'll clear the room," He says kindly.

"Roger, roger." Alex offers him a mock salute.

"Henry, all good?" Mike gives Henry's shoulder a light tap.

Henry shrugs. "Ah, peachy, chief!" He replies with a hollow laughter.

"... aaand ACTION!" Mike shouts across the room.

Alex carefully lowers Henry on the bed, and whispers "I've got you, sweetheart."

Henry's vision is full of Alex. Even from this angle, he looks like a dream. Henry's eyes flutter shut. His lips tingle with anticipation. He swallows hard to soothe his dry throat.

With the first drag of Alex's warm lips against his, Henry's brain shuts down! Every sane thought escapes his mind, and he shudders like a wallflower in the winter wind!

"CUT!"

Henry knows he has messed up even before he can open his eyes.

"Umm, Henry, you're supposed to look into his eyes... And put a little more life into the kiss." Mike explains patiently. Henry exhales wearily and nods.

"Let's roll again!"

This time Henry doesn't close his eyes, and looking into Alex's big brown eyes makes everything a thousand times worse...

Or better!

He grits his teeth and bites down on every feeling as Alex's mouth softly latches onto his lower lip. When he pulls back, Henry notices a single thread of spit connecting their lips, and even before he could stop himself, a soft broken moan escapes him.

Henry freezes, terrified. Alex exhales sharply, and his eyes widen. Henry can almost see the thoughts running through his head, and he is so embarrassed he wants to die.

"Keep rolling" Henry can hear Mike instruct the camera crew, so he knows there is no escaping this.

Alex captures his lips in a searing kiss and swallows the spit thread whole. Henry desperately clutches his neck, and one of his hands kneads through his dark curls. He opens his mouth to let Alex in.

It's too late! He can't back off now! He better give it his all because...

There shall NOT be another take for this scene. If Henry wants to preserve even an infinitesimal shred of self respect, he must get it over with as quickly as possible!

Henry feels a little flicker of Alex's tongue! He knows they agreed on "no tongue" as if felt safer, and that soft little brush is accidental, but it sets his insides on fire. He wants to chase it so bad... But he can't!

He roughly grabs Alex's jaw, his nails lightly scratching his smooth skin. Alex lets out a tiny, inaudible gasp. His hips roll involuntarily, a delicious friction against Henry's thighs, and Henry is so turned on his back arches!

He grinds against Alex, his body moving to an invisible rhythm. He can feel pleasure taking control of his senses, the room slowly spins and swirls, like the surface of water, and then every shape reassembles to form a gorgeous face, every sense converges to the patch of skin where Alex's teeth are scraping against Henry's upper lip!

With a horrible sinking feeling in his stomach, Henry realises he is hard! Like, stone hard underneath his clothes. And there is no way Alex can't feel that!

Henry looks up at Alex with glassy eyes, mentally begging him to understand. He was already looking at him intently, brows furrowed.

"Hen, are you..." Alex breathes.

"Al, please. Help." Henry whispers, feeling devastated.

Alex latches their fingers together, and gives his hand a gentle squeeze.

Then he looks across the room and shouts "Mike, SQUIRREL! A big, bushy, furry, fuckin squirrel!"

Captains fighting for freedom!!!

Indycar at Thermal

So, Thermal happened. For those who don't know, the NTT Indycar Series had a non-points exhibition, vaguely all-stary race at the Thermal Club, a private racing club in southern California. This was billed as the "$1 Million Challenge" for ironic reasons that I'll get to in a moment. Anyway, for the event, the field was split in half with two ten-minute heat races, the top six cars transferring from each heat into a final. In the twenty lap, twelve car final, the drivers would race for $500,000, because they couldn't even get that part right.

The first heat race was pretty good, with drama off the start leading to Romain Grosjean getting spun out and collecting Rinus Veekay, while Indycar legend Scott Dixon was penalized out of contention for starting it. Felix Rosenqvist led, but Scott McLaughlin was hunting him down at the end.

The second heat was a bit more mixed. The Chip Ganassi Racing cars of Alex Palou and Marcus Armstrong controlled the pace, but the McLarens put on a show fighting for the final transfer spot. Callum Ilott filling in in the #6 started just outside the transfer spot, but then got swallowed up by his teammates, Alexander Rossi and Pato O'Ward. Rossi and O'Ward proceeded to put on a show fighting for the sixth and final transfer slot, with Alex winning out in the end. CGR's pace was ominous, but McLaren kept it entertaining.

Then the race hit rock bottom with the first half of the feature race. The $1 Million race was twenty laps, but it was divided into two ten lap halves, with a ten-minute break in the middle, and drivers weren't allowed to change tyres in the middle. Knowing that, the teams figured that they would just save their tyres in the first half knowing the field would bunch up for the second half, meaning they'd have more tyre to attack with in the second half. So, on a long, twisty road course without many passing opportunities, we had to watch the drivers one by one decide that they couldn't push any further so they should just save for the second half. Colton Herta was the first to do it, then Agustin Canapino, then Alexander Rossi...soon enough, everyone all the way up to Graham Rahal in seventh was driving seconds off the pace saving their tyres.

Then we get to the ten-minute break with the NBC commentators practically pleading with the viewers that the race was going to get better in the second half. Alex Palou finished lap ten, and then the race just kept going because Pietro Fittipaldi was evidently underfueled and it took him about three minutes to cross the finish line. Then, in a strange, quiet mid-race break where nothing else seemed to be happening, Graham Rahal retired with a technical issue and Pietro Fittipaldi was disqualified for not having enough fuel. The fun, all-for-money, twelve car all-star race was down to just ten cars.

Nevertheless...the second half was better. Alexander Rossi pushed his way up the field, clashed with Josef Newgarden, and both went wide while Colton Herta went underneath them both for the position. Cars were actually racing now! Herta charging up the field and Rossi hanging on a few cars behind made it look like this saving strategy might actually amount to something after all...only for Alex Palou to dominate the race anyway. This was better, but for most of the fans, the damage was already done.

Indycar twitter was dominated by people talking about this race being a terrible mistake, rock bottom of Roger Penske's series ownership, and a horrid waste of time. Me? My reaction was mostly to just disassociate and laugh at the trainwreck. I love Indycar, I want Indycar to do well, I love Indycar so much I'm writing a novel-length fic about it on AO3, so it sucks to see a dud of an event like this. The worst part in my opinion is that we're stuck with this being the most recent race for a month, because the Long Beach Grand Prix isn't until April 21st.

It's been a rough offseason as an Indycar fan, and seeing an uncharacteristically dull St. Pete race where Josef Newgarden dominated following by this confused little Thermal Club event where reigning champ Palou came out on top...it's not great. I just hope Long Beach brings a return to normalcy, with good, hard, unpredictable American open wheel racing...in a month.

5 stages of grief

Barkov was staking you out. You'd gotten intel after handing over Hadir for a gas factory he was planning to blow up that they knew barkov would be, and now here you all were, ready to end it all.

Farah and Alex were tasked with heading inside the factory and rigging it all to explode, but along the way, coming across a heavily armoured tank soldier. Alex dropped his detonator and it broke, making it useless as the two headed in.

"Clear !!" Farah called out as she entered inside and looked around. Turning around to see Alex fiddling with his detonator. "What happened ??"

"The fucking detonator" He tossed it over to her and she inspected it, someone would have to actually go into the furnace and set it up.

"It's dead... I'll go in their"

"And do what ??"

"Ignite the furnace"

"You'll never get out of there in time" He shifts towards her fully

"I know what I'm doing" She said more determined.

"Farah... Please listen to me"

"No you listen to me." She fully turned to him "Because of this poison, my people have known something worse than war. I did not come this far just to turn back"

"I'm not asking you to turn back... I'm asking you to give me the order"

She was shocked when she heard he wanted to sacrifice himself "I won't do that"

"Commander, please" Alex gave her the same determined look.

"I am not your CO" She said firmly.

"Then who is ?? Because someone needs to light this fire and someone needs to kill Barkov... and you can't do both. I've been on assignment my whole life. This... Is one I believe in. Give me the order"

"You are a freedom fighter Alex..." She could see it, the same fire.

"Your a born leader, Farah... Say the word"

She hesitated a bit before handing him the detonator "Go"

"Yes ma'am" He grinned as he then took the detonator. Opening the door before looking back. "Good luck"

It was a drawn out mission, You and Gaz were outside trying to fight your way through Barkov's men, Hoping to which it would all end peacefully. Once Farah now kicked Barkov off the helo, Price commed in. "Farah, What's your status ??"

"Captain... Barkov is dead"

"Roger that, Alex, charges set ??"

"Affirmative sir"

"Alex..."

He took a deep breath to mentally prepare himself. "I'm not getting out of here... Let's do this" He knew what he was doing.

"Thank you"

"Yes ma'am"

With that price gave the countdown, But when you heard about Alex, You tried to rush in to the factory, He couldn't sacrifice himself... No not your best friend.

But soon, Alex detonated the charges and the factory went up in smokes.

"ALEX !!!" You screamed in horror as you watched the place go up... Why... Why would he do this...

Back in Urzikstan, While the other freedom fighters were celebrating a victory, You were mourning the loss of Alex... He helped you with so much during his time with you and Farah, A loyalty that could never have been broken. Your best friend... Dead...

Farah knew this hit you the hardest more than it hit her, So when the time was right, she went to go check on you, Finding you huddled up in blankets facing the wall.

"Y/n..." She said softly and slowly sat beside you, Hand resting on your shoulder.

"Why did you give him the order..." You sniffled.

"If I would stop him, I could... But it was his choice... Not mine..." She gently reminded you as she started to rub your shoulder.

The grief was mounting up as you started to shake, Tearing up at the loss.

Farah then climbed in and wrapped her arms around you. "Shh, I'm here y/n... I'm here" She gently rubbed your back as she encouraged you to cry.

You held her tightly as the tears started to fall more intensely, You missed Alex deeply, Wanting nothing more than to see him again.

Farah then started to gently hum, A gentle song her mother would always sing to her when she felt sad. You slowly listened in as she continued to hum. The crying turned into soft hiccs as you continued to listen in.

Farah hated seeing you sad... grieving all alone, she would not let you grieve all alone like this. Farah would always stick by your side through thick and thin. She would always help you. always.
