I am absolutely positively losing it at how Bo Katan drops the ball so hard. I was prepared for her to be more of an obstacle in the face of Din having the Darksaber, for her to be petty and reluctant to give up any form of leadership she has having gathered the Mandalorians - but she really sat on that throne and gave us nothing.
It’s so Bo Katan to be such a disappointment. To go against what she claims her morals to be. If she really wanted the Mandalorian people to be reunited, for Mandalore to be reclaimed, she wouldn’t have just given up upon not getting the Darksaber. She wouldn’t be turning away anyone who still wants to join the cause of reclaiming their planet. She wouldn’t have given up at such a roadblock if she had really cared for her people and her culture.
Bo tells Din to retake Mandalore and lead them himself, as if there’s no greater joke. Wave that thing around, they’ll do whatever you say. And when he asks if she’s given up, she lashes out. Sits there and says his people gave up long before the purge, how his cult fractured their people, how his beliefs are a joke. How he’s a fool to go to a planet that’s so destroyed it’s hopeless, and he calls her out. I thought you said the curse was a lie, make up your mind.
She only uses ‘our’ when she says ‘our people’ to continue to insult him, accuse him of what she’s done before, what she’s doing now - failing their people. Scattering the Mandalorians. She picks and chooses what traditions and cultures of her people to take to heart based on convenience. She’s not loyal to her people but to her own ideals and power.
This is why Din Djarin has always been and always will be a better leader and representation of the Mandalorians. The way he follows has always been about protecting his clan and himself, but when his tradition is put against saving his child, he saves his child and would do so over and over again. Yet he still wants to atone because the respect of his people is important to him. Versus Bo Katan, who does not care enough about her people to even consider trying to bring them together without being the ruler of them all, to try and keep her people alive even if it means rethinking tradition.
To her, ruling has never been about the people of Mandalore. It has never been about reuniting their people who survived a cultural and a literal genocide. Ever since her days in Death Watch, it has never been about truly leading her people into something better. It has always been about her pride. It has always been about being right.
why does every article reporting on idf war crimes go "hamas, who started the war on october 7th with their brutal terrorist attack slaughtering innocent israeli civilians, has condemned the idf's use of-"? like, nearly verbatim every single time. we know about october 7th. we know by now. half the time, hamas isnt even relevant but they gotta find some way to sow doubt and numb any potential compassion responses. will you get fired if you show sympathy for murdered palestinian civilians without first adding a disclaimer saying its all their fault for being born in gaza? if you call "palestinians under 18" children? if you use the words "murdered" or "brutal" or "massacre" for acts that didnt occur on october 7th? if you call a spade a spade? why are israeli reports front page news without proper fact-checking but palestinian reporting is always "allegedly" even when theres video evidence? why does the idf not get the hamas treatment of reminding everyone that theyre biased before treating their words as law, like they havent been caught bold-faced lying again and again?
imagine scarian in a more modern setting where "that cactus ring" TM is a bit, and they have cactus gummies and maybe they're both in a theatre club creating a play based on 3rd life n all
I can just see them joking about it
Modern au scarian with the cactus ring being a bit is SO FUNNY there are so many ways this could go.... you've got the 3rd life is a play concept, you could have it be a spur of the moment joke with some cactus gummies, it could be a meme in a socmed au, maybe they just went on a hike and grian accidentally elbowed scar into a cactus and now nobody will let either of them live it down. The possibilities are endless im truly obsessed with this
Oh hey! this was kinda fun, i noticed i pretty much just write the marauders and their little moments--like no one else has any lines. so anyway, i decided id try to do something different.
CW for death, grief, mentions of prison/trials. this is november 1981 so...
for prompt “devotion” @wolfstarmicrofic
“Please, Chief Warlock,” Remus starts again, he knows his voice is desperate, but he supposes that’s an accurate portrayal of his current state. “Just listen, Sirius’s devotion to the Order was unmatched. Anyone would tell you the same. He would not have done— this to James, Lily, and Harry.”
Remus can’t look over at Sirius right now. For one, McGonagall had said it would make him look too in love and biased or some such nonsense, but Remus Lupin was not one to ignore any advice from Minerva McGonagall. For another, he honestly didn’t think he could. He had searched Sirius out eagerly when they brought him in, shackles and all. He looked horrible. Already thin and pale, even though it had only been two weeks. He looked stricken like nothing made sense and the world was crumbling but was also resting entirely on his shoulders. Remus had nearly broken down just there. But he held it together, he had to, he had to bring him home.
For the last two days, he’s just been repeating himself over and over. But now, after some portly twerp in ridiculous robes pipes up something about how this should really be about James and Lily’s sacrifice, Remus breaks in, “James and Lily would never have wanted this.” His voice has turned dark and low and his gaze flicks over to Sirius who is looking right back. His eyes are clear, like something makes sense for the first time in a while. “James and Lily were some of the be-“ Remus’ voice breaks and he takes a deep breath before finishing, “James Potter and Lily Evans were some of best people I have ever known. Some of the best anyone has, I think. And they would be standing right here beside me. They would be appalled that their best friend is locked up and starving without a fair trial. They did not die for nothing. Do not make their sacrifice carry this ugly legacy.”
The Chief Warlock peers at him over his glasses. “Alright, Mr. Lupin.” His voice is gravelly and steady, “I do not appreciate you speaking out of turn,” Remus looks down. “And I do not agree that this is not a fair trial,” Remus winces. “However,” Remus breathes. “You raise some fair points.” Remus looks up. “How about, and this is only if he agrees, mind, but how about we try some veritaserum?” Remus smiles, small but very very real. He smiles, and breathes.
After finishing the SS story, it really is so funny to me that these boys all managed to pull off a wildly convoluted plan to take down the various threats to their industry with zero prior or concurrent communication. No wonder Gatekeeper told Seiya that idols were insane and he is not touching the industry with a ten-foot pole. Imagine how powerful ES would be if the idols liked each other actually properly talked to scheme their plans
Involves Xero's attempt at an assassination, or it could be literally just any guard controlled by the Radiance
PK and WL need to talk about something private, and WL looks at the tiny vessel tagging along by her wyrm's side
"Should it be here?"
"It wouldn't understand anything anyway."
"Still, it's...a little..."
He sighs lightly, "Yeah, I get where you're coming from... Vessel, come here."
He kneels down and orders them to sit by the door and wait for them while they talk, says he'll come pick them up once they're done and not to move, then the two go to talk on the balcony and close the door behind them
At some point, Xero/the guard bursts in and attacks PK in the middle of the conversation, managing to take them by surprise and so gets one good swing in before PK darts away and retaliates, pinning them down with soul blades, though he has to keep his wife from killing them on the spot - he doesn't want to be so hasty, knowing they're infected and not themself. He pulls out the sword from his chest and that's when they realise, it's covered in void...
Child harm/near death TW beyond this point
After a moment of shock White Lady, who's closest to the doors, runs out and all her husband can hear is a horrified, heartbroken scream. He feels nauseous, his stomach twisting into knots and feeling like his heart is in his throat as he runs out after her. He sees her in tears, cradling a tiny bundle soaked in void. There's- there's so much void. It covers the floor where he left their child vessel and soaks through his lady's shawl and clothes as she cradles them in her arms.
For a moment he's paralysed, before he just snaps. He flies back onto the balcony, screaming at the possessed guard that he'll kill her, he'll make her pay for this, and he slays them in his rage (something he'll regret and feel ashamed of later), still hitting and screaming at Her well after the possessed person is dead and she can't hear him anymore.
He collapses, panting, near tears, and just gets himself up and stumbles out the door and towards the two, he wants to see how bad it is for himself.
Flower survives, but just barely. They had multiple stab wounds and lost their left arm, if not for their parents immediately healing them they'd be dead. They're barely older than 5, still so very little and defenceless, PK is horrified at how could anyone hurt a baby this young and helpless (hypocrite), even if they're not alive.
They're still on bed rest because that was so much damage and their mother doesn't leave their side and their father only leaves when necessary. They still don't realise Flower's alive and they know they shouldn't be so attached but it still feels like their baby and they can't just leave them. WL spends the entire day by their side, gently stroking their hair and horns with her now permanently void stained hands and softly coos and sings to them
Of course, they quickly realise they ARE alive because no way in hell a toddler is getting this hurt and NOT crying and screaming the second they wake up <3
SEND “ ✿ ” FOR 2 HEADCANONS FOR OUR MUSES’ RELATIONSHIP.
✿- Ever since Renge fell from who knows where and landed within their territory, Keiji enjoys her company a lot. Sure he was used to travelling alone but with her, it's a hell a lot of fun.....except the times she gets too drunk and he has to carry her like a potato sack out when she passes out.
✿- Sometimes Keiji sees small visuals of Nene within Renge despite the two being two separate people and that it hurts....like a lot of thinking about his former love interest but then again a lot of villages in their territory mistake them as siblings or couples so.....
✿- Keiji has been overly protected over Oichi ever since that incident with Nagamasa there. To him, it's a repeat of what happened between Nene and he doesn't want anyone else to go through that pain so he'll try anything to make her smile.
✿- Sometimes her ability does creep him out but he doesn't like Nobunaga more than that. The two are separate people but there was always a lingering sadness with Oichi that he could sense from her there.
What do you think about the training scene in Tales of Jedi ? It seems useless and cruel to me (especially in comparison to the one in Kenobi) but maybe you have a different opinion
I think it was absolutely practical and necessary, and no matter how painful, exhausting, and frustrating it was for Ahsoka, the training utterly pales in comparison to the reality that she is a child who was originally sent out onto a battlefield with ZERO experience.
Ahsoka is and likely always was exceptional with a lightsaber, which is why Yoda for some reason thought it would be alright for her to be sent to Christophsis. But you gotta understand. While Jedi are taught combat and are skilled fighters, being prepared to use your lightsaber as a peacekeeper is completely different from being sent onto the front lines of massive battles as a commanding officer of an army. Before the war, the lil training remote was sufficient. As a Jedi initiate who grew up sheltered in the Temple, Ahsoka would have never experienced anything like Christophsis until she arrived there.
Anakin knows this. Anakin, if he could, probably never would have wanted to take a Padawan onto a battlefield, no sane Jedi would. But he didn't have a choice. So he decided to prepare her as much as he could, with the help of men he knows are skilled with blasters. Yes, it'll hurt. Yes, it might even be cruel. But better that Anakin be cruel and Ahsoka covered in bruises and unconscious than her being DEAD because she didn't (couldn't have) the experience necessary to stay alive.
After all, very single one of those times she falls unconscious, if that had been live fire, she'd have been dead.
And if it was too much? If Ahsoka had decided to call it quits, say she can't handle this? Then Anakin probably would have let her leave. But it would have also forfeited her right to be on a battlefield—it would have given Anakin an excuse to sideline her until he considered her ready. After all, if she can't handle practice fire in a controlled, safe environment, she certainly has no right to be on a field where an enemy is shooting to kill. And Ahsoka likely knew this, and she wanted to be there with her Master and the boys, so she stuck it out.
So no, I don't think the training was useless or cruel. I think it was cruel for a child to be dumped into the middle of a war. And I think the skills she learned from the training—that Ahsoka chose to continue even by herself, even without Anakin's supervision—saved her life in many, many situations. The episodic nature of the Clone Wars series means that we see only the biggest events, and nothing in between. We do see Ahsoka grow up, but she must have necessarily done the work in between missions to reflect, to train, to improve. So I think it was great that we got to see part of that.
All of this is under the assumption that Ahsoka just needed to survive the war, which is likely all Anakin was thinking about when he came up with the training. But add in the fact that she needed to literally dodge fire from the clones...
Here is what I read, posted, won, received, and bought in May.
Let me know if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them.
Books I Read:
Books I Did Not Finish
I did not finish this book (which is rare for me). I had a good reason not to. The author was involved in a scandal that involved review-bombing books that were similar to her and also written by BIPOC and Queer…
Do we count not regenerating as suicide??? Bc if we do, that means that the master has killed themself out of spite 4 times, 5 if you count the Lumiat as canon (I do), and 2 of those were simm!master and 2 of those were missy, and 4 of them were motivated by the doctor
