I’ve been bullet journaling on and off for 3 years now, and have finally come to a method that I find easily updatable and the most productive! So ofc I thought I would share my tips :) 

Disclaimer: This is a very simple but effective method of bullet journaling which I personally love–I’ve tried super decorative, simplistic, etc. but still come back to this–but by no means does it mean you should feel obligated to use it!

1 → Try not to stray too far from the original bujo system–I only have 3 bullets I use. When I have uncompleted tasks, I don’t rewrite them and instead leave them unmarked until I complete them (this way it’s easy to see unfinished tasks that accumulate throughout the week). If I don’t complete them within the week, that’s when I transfer the task.

2 → I only ever use pencil or pen in my notebook because that allows me to refrain from going overboard with the decorations. Preferably, try not to decorate at all–this allows me to use the system as more of a todo list than a journal, which I personally find to be much less stressful and much more productive.

3 → Overthinking can cause a lot of stress over bullet journaling, which is a huge reason people stop doing it. Care less about how pretty your journal is/what color you use/how your spread is formatted and more about what method of journaling will allow you to be the most productive. 

4 → I have separate monthly logs for each different school subject (atm I only have 1 for my english class) for assignments or projects that exceed 1-2 days only. I also have daily logs, and that’s it. Excluding excessive spreads–for me, that was yearly, (general) monthly, and weekly logs–was what truly made this system so easy for me to update regularly. 

Notebook Recommendations → Tul from Office Depot | Arc from Staples | Moleskine | Leuchtturm1917 | Cambridge (Mead) → My favorite is the Tul because its discbound and cheaper than the Arc. Although I was unwilling to give up journals at first, I later found notebooks to be much easier to use.

Hey! For the back to school thing (my prototype of studyblr is "Vitalinidade"). I have already started my last semester in my Design Bachelor here in Brazil and I have my ongoing bachelor project, which is a massive year-long research+product development! I'm doing a children's book directed to kids in a poor area around my city which is gratifying and exhausting at the same time (but I love it). I really enjoy your posts, they are inspiring for me! my school actually is giving us our supplies this year, but I went out and bought a few things anyways! these were my two favorites items I got, my science binder and comp book. I was clearly going for a space theme here, even though we’re learning biology this year. (oops!) anyways, I hope everyone has a great start to school (I start tomorrow)!

hey!! How do you manage your time when your schedule is super crammed? There are two weeks before my school starts (going into junior year) and I have to finish my summer hw. In addition, I'm trying to get ahead and start studying for my October SAT. I also have marching band practice from 2-8pm every weekday until school!! Do you have any recommendations to get all this done without burning out before school starts??? Thanks!!! Also can you do a name playlist for me? My name is Hannah :)

hello! sounds like you have a lot on your plate. i’d recommend doing the porodoro technique where you study for a bit, then take a short break, and the cycle continues. in my opinion, it’s a really good technique for time management for studying in general since you are studying in small chunks but not in one large time chunk (which when I do, my brain becomes “fried” aka unfocused). if you’re interested, lanes have an app that is free and easy to use. 

i would also recommend leaving one day of the week to not study and do something that you really love. this way, you don’t have to think about studying and relax. to distress, i personally love going outside and taking a walk since i’m exercising while breathing in fresh air which is always good for you :) click here are some more self-care tips!

Hey, so before I was tracking #allydsgn and I didn’t mind it except now it gets filled with answered asks, mentions for tags, or for studyblr intros LOL. I send a lot of messages and I’m involved with a lot of things so that tag gets filled up pretty quick with things that don’t go in my queue (like tags or project mentions). You can also message me if you want me to say something specific or want feedback on something! (looking at you design students out there I love to see work and I will definitely help out!)

10.15.17 day 6 of 100 days of productivity! Today I’m trying to memorize my favorite poem (Those Winter Sundays) for an English recitation I have to do. Later today I also have to take a practice math subject, read scarlet letter, and study for calc quiz :// I have been loving doing the 100dop! Even though I don’t post what I do every day (that would take sooo long for me to do) I have really found that I’ve been so much more productive!
