5K EVENT SPECIAL | EVENT MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
It was study night.
Unsurprisingly, Midoriya was the first to sit on the couch, textbook and pen in hand. No one could ever dream of beating Midoriya Izuku—not even Iida or Yaoyorozu, who was pretty normal about intense studying habits. Everyone else followed after him, and soon enough, the common room began to get crowded. Bakugou was fuming, with sparks coming from his palms as he yelled at his friends, were you even listening to class?! while Mina and Sero howled with laughter, Kirishima and Kaminari were trying their best, and Midoriya was waving his hands, spluttering, calm down, Kacchan! You’re disturbing the others! Promptly followed by a drawn out: HAAA? It was a miracle they even got Bakugou Katsuki to tutor them.
And it was fun. It was lively, and you felt at home, but someone was missing, and you noticed his absence right away.
You hesitated. Shinsou was fairly new in the class—and although he adjusted well considering the class welcomed him with open arms, he was still a little distanced. You wanted to close the distance. Hitoshi seemed like a nice guy, just a little shy. (“You just think he’s cute, don’t you?” Imaginary Uraraka whispered in your ear, all leery and uncomfortably hitting too close.)
You slipped away from the class, and you were really hoping you were as stealthy as you thought, but Uraraka’s eyes seemed to have snapped to yours like she was starring in a horror movie. You froze.
“Where are you going?” Uraraka asked sweetly. You regretted telling her about your crush every time shit like this happened.
“I forgot my pen,” you said, then dashed off before Iida or Midoriya could offer theirs.
Your room was on the same floor as Shinsou’s—the fourth floor, by the far corner; his was beside Bakugou’s, while yours was beside Mina’s. Your rooms were technically—almost—across from each other.
But as you reached the fourth floor, you hesitated. Would it seem creepy if you went to fetch him? You didn’t want to come off as eager, but you also didn’t want to act disinterested. Augh. This was too complicated. Having a crush was too complicated.
Running on frustration, you took this as an opportunity to man the fuck up and knock on his door. Knock, knock. You instantly flamed in embarrassment.
There was a bit of clanging from inside, as if not expecting anyone to have checked up on him—which was a reasonable deduction. You might have been pushing too hard.
The door slowly inched open and revealed Shinsou, with his brows furrowed and lips pulled downward before it morphed into surprise as you waved sheepishly.
“Y/N,” he said, and you shouldn’t be surprised that he knew your name—everyone introduced themselves to him, and he isn’t super fresh to your faces—but that didn’t make it any easier to hear your name in his… gorgeously low voice.
“Hey,” you said, then felt immensely pathetic. Seriously? Hey? In response to that? The only appropriate response was to swoon and faint on his chest. “I—uh, we were wondering if you wanted to join study night, in case you didn’t know.”
“Oh.” He blinked, then looked embarrassed. “Yeah, I know about that. Uh, I was looking for my textbook. I couldn’t find it…”
“Ohh,” you said, like the perfect conversationalist you were. “I can let you borrow mine. If you want, I mean.”
And in classic Y/N fashion, you began to think. What if you missed something? What if looking for his textbook was his excuse not to join? What if you inadvertently pressured him into joining?
“Ah, really?” And then Shinsou smiled, and angels started singing. It was only a quirk on one side, but it was there. It was there, and it was goddamn beautiful. “Thanks.”
“N-No problem,” you said weakly, a deflated balloon.
You moved backward like you were hypnotized as Shinsou stepped forward and shut the door behind him. He was tall, but something else about his presence seemed bigger about him. You silently thanked Eraserhead for training Shinsou.
Shinsou scratched the back of his nape and asked, “Should we go, then?”
Like a moth drawn to a flame.
When the elevator dinged, the class turned and greeted you and Shinsou, even when you were already there before. Uraraka was quick as ever; she was grinning wide like a mother too excited to encourage her children to interact with their peers. You glared at her when Shinsou’s eyes curiously slipped to where you were staring. Then everyone turned back to mind their business; whether it was mercy on your humiliation or politeness for Shinsou’s shyness, you were just grateful.
But there was a problem.
Shinsou realized it at the same time as you, too. There was no space left where the class had gathered: the long row of tables and chairs. You could’ve sworn you had a seat beside Todoroki Shouto, but it was not there anymore.
Shinsou craned his neck and gestured at a suspiciously empty green loveseat by the corner. “We should just sit over there?”
“Yes,” you said, hoping that you didn’t sound too delighted. “Yes, uh, you’re right. Which textbook were you looking for?”
“My Chemistry one was missing.” Oh, Chemistry, for once a blessing to your life.
With a skip in your step, you walked to the table and returned to where Shinsou was waiting patiently. This was wonderful. You were on cloud nine. You sat beside Shinsou, with a bit of distance out of respect, but distance didn’t matter when it was just you and him in this corner.
“Thank you,” Shinsou murmured—ohhh, he murmured; how is it possible for a teenage boy to have his voice get that low?—and settled in his seat, fingers thumbing your textbook open. He still looked a little tense, but you were really hoping it was not because of you.
“No problem,” you said, beaming up at him. You pulled out your English textbook because you didn’t want to seem lazy in front of him. “If you have questions about the quiz, you can ask me!”
Shinsou cocked a brow and tilted his head. “You understand this?”
He gestured at the equations printed by the far end of the pages. In truth, it made your head hurt and your eyes water just looking at the equation that most likely had the same length as a paragraph, but you knew nothing. If drawing Lewis Structures until your hand is cramped and you went cross-eyed and determining the molecular structure of liquids was your only ticket to talking with Shinsou, then—well… Chemistry was your favorite, now.
“Sure,” you said.
“I’ll be in your care, then,” Shinsou said lowly.
Ahh, so charming. You hoped your eyes weren’t in the shape of hearts.
While 1-A studied relentlessly—and violently, thanks to Bakugou—you and Shinsou were tucked in the corner, murmuring to each other about Thermodynamics and shit. He was a fast learner and cracked jokes at the right time. It felt like you had known him forever.
At some point, Shinsou drifted off and started talking about cats. You didn’t know how, either, but the lull of his voice made you hardly care. Then, at some point, your head ended up on Shinsou’s broad shoulder as you slept. You wouldn’t have seen it because you were off in dreamland and most likely dreaming about Shinsou, but Shinsou had smiled fondly and stayed there. He wondered if it would be too obvious if he borrowed another textbook tomorrow.

Every Track in Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and which BNHA character it is about.
Yeah that's right I did a bad one about Charli XCX songs and I'm here with ANOTHER atrocity but this time I'm desecrating Chappell Roan our lord and savior I'm sorry. It's out of love. But also a hot mess. And I'm drinking wine alone because I wasted a Sunday night on a first date and I did NOT jive with the gal (she kept talking about her ex help meeeeeeee). Just to #setthescene
Femininomenon: Uraraka Ochako. WHY CAN'T ANY MAN? I love lesbians man. I love lesbians so much. And Ochako you're my favorite as of yet undetermined wuh luh wuh. Love women who like women. And like. Yes. Also again Uraraka is THE Femininomenon. We need her.
Red Wine Supernova: Kirishima Eijirou. I just think he would be on this song. Also his hair! And the vibes! The cool roommates! Didn't quite think it through! I just think he fits! Honorary lesbian! I adopt him into lesbianism!
After Midnight: Shinsou Hitoshi. I also can't explain this one besides "I love a little drama/Let's start a bar fight" being very MonoShin coded and I think Shinsou would be more lighthearted about that. And the spoken part is very command. I like this for him. And it fits the vibes of those two. I love them.
Coffee: Sir Nighteye. He's singing about All Might. I'm crying. Me too bestie! I'm unwell! I love my divorced fathers!
Casual: THEEEE Dabi Hawks anthem and I will not hear otherwise! We kiss I have anger issues! Knee deep in the passenger seat! I love this song it goes so fucking hard and so do they! They are not telling their friends all the details! It's embarrassing and they cannot help themselves!
Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl: Asui Tsuyu. WE DON'T DESERVE HER! She is my goat! And everyone was hyper mega bummer and did not treat her as she deserved that one time (I'm still mad about how they hurt my girl's feelings at Kamino Ward). I love her, they should all get on her level! (But also I know) (I KNOW) (Present Mic sings this to Aizawa all the time when he's feeling like messing with him) (I support him)
HOT TO GO!: Jirou. Sung to Momo. And it's adorable. It's wonderful. It's perfect. They are all lesbians because I SAID SO damnit. STAND AND CLAP NOW TOUCH YOUR TOES! (The really sick part of me said hot to go is about Dabi but that's just a mean joke how could I ever make it oh wait I just did)
My Kink Is Karma: Todoroki Shouto. Given how he is about his dad! I support a petty queen and Shouto is nothing but a petty queen and this song is about PETTY QUEEN RIGHTS. No need to be hateful in ur fake Gucci sweater because Shouto is doing all the hating in his REAL one u posers.
Picture You: Bakugou Katsuki late late in the narrative about Midoriya Izuku. Because like come on now. Come on now. "It's ritualistic" "I need you around" "Am I in the frame from your point of view?" like COME ON this is about THEM this is FOR BAKUGOU about his DEKU. I'm still wrecked from them. Horikoshi please.
Kaleidoscope: Midoriya Inko. I love her. She deserves better. And the absence of her man, the way she loves Izuku unconditionally no matter what on any terms he wants. Yes Kaleidoscope is a romantic song to an extent but the parental version of it or even just the abstraction of love in general. It's beautiful and unconditional and not always perfect but it's always there and that's what matters. Anyway. I ugly cry to this song. My best friend played it for me on a uke and sang it the other day and I was an ugly wreck. And I am a wreck for Inko because she's such a good and honest person and genuinely does her best for her son. Wow. I'm sniffly.
Pink Pony Club: This is obviously Izuku Midoriya. About quirks ofc, but like the kind of joyous wide eyed earnestness of it all. It's so him. It's so fucking Deku it is perfect. Keep on dancing baby. Have your fun. The joy of it all, the self acceptance, the finding a place of belonging. It's HIM. A year to cause a scene? YES BABY.
Naked In Manhattan: Momo Yaoyorozu. I struggled for this one babes! I did! HOWEVER I do think my sheltered girlie deserves a song about self discovery and fun and GIRLS. I am always on this shit. I will do this for my girlies. They're all lesbians u can't take this from me. The other fun option is David Shield with All Might in their #collegehomosexualrevelries aka when All Might was in the states. I love them. They're a great fling.
California: Shigaraki Tomura. Or Yoichi. Or really any of the OFA holders about their predecessors. Just that hope to get their dreams only to have themselves fail to reach them and it hurts even if it's through no fault of their own. Man. I want them to be happy dawg. But mostly Shigaraki because. Yes. Him and the LOV. Man. "I miss the seasons in Missouri/My dying town/Thought I'd be cool in California/I'd make you proud/To think I almost had it going/I let you down"
Guilty Pleasure: The later, better, more fun DabiHawks song. "I want this like a cigarette" SO TRUE. I love those two lmao they're one of my favorite relationship dynamics. "Some good girls do bad things too" okay girlies you can dream. I love them. They're so fun. Also you can't tell me Hawks wouldn't absolutely go ham on the yodels during karaoke.
ANYWAY TY FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK IT BANGS IT GOES SO HARD I LOVE THIS ALBUM I HOPE ALL OF U ARE YODELING. Please listen to this whole album. Man. I love this album. It goes so fucking hard. It's a pop banger.

thoughts:
Himiko Toga never chose a villain name because she has always been the monster and demon for others, internalizing it. But also because she isnt trying to be someone else, but proudly show herself and her love -AFO exploited this to reaffirm the previous, so she never even realized she could give her blood for others.
Ochako Uraraka's goal and arc isn't finished until we see a few main points: "who will save heroes?" A discussion about heroism and saving, and I wouldnt be too surprised if saving villains also come up here as a developed version of the first. They are all people, and that's what matters over their assigned roles. "Himiko Toga". Where is she? Ochako's arc can't be finished until we see or hear what ended up happening. "What does she feel about it all?" She needs a resolution and express her feelings, and with the hiding she has done recently I cant help but wonder even more about Himiko's state, as she is the person who makes Ochako feel safe enough to talk about her thoughts. And lastly"You like him, dont you?" What will happen with her love for Izuku? Is she going to hide it, confess, talk about it more with Himiko? I still think about "the reveal" during her fight with her, and her hair covering her whole face... It could be because she "needs" to tell and show her whole face to Izuku*. I would prefer it another way tho
*She said she admires Himiko for being able to say her feelings and love who she does with her whole face, if I remember correctly, while remembering an Izuku who is looking somewhere (someone?) else smiling. I believe its important that she doesnt have her face shown there, but we still dont have a clear reason why. Is she just not able to show that love to Himiko because she hasn't shown Izuku first? Is it because she no longer feels it? In the next panel she says shes now going to stop her, we can see her face, and her mouth is covered in blood. Is it because their battle was never about him? Because she is ashamed of those feelings? Because she doesn't want to engage in them?
With chapter 425 taking us by surprise because of her first interaction with Midoriya after the war, I prefer to think she has her hair covering her face because she still can't be honestly herself with him. Partially? Yes completely, but she can't tell him her feelings like with Himiko.
I hope she expresses her feelings to the class, to her parents, her friends, the civilians... but I really don't think a confession to him and him only would solve anything.
She doesn't want or can't chase him and his feelings like with Himiko; Izuku is acting weird, upset about many things, and she doesn't see that, im sure she would have tried to help if she actually knew. Even tho she looks around to find a crying Himiko, she doesn't try to do the same now, and in fact rejects it; she decided her feelings are not for him or others to see, at least at the moment.
So how does Hori plan to change this in such little time? Is Izuku going to chase after her, when thats what he has always done with everything he wants? Doesn't he deserve to be chased back? Doesnt she deserve the right to decide how much of herself she wants to reveal to him? Or mourn the loss in her own terms, in case Toga's dead or she thinks she is?
With her feelings for both Midoriya and Toga she has tried to put heroism first, focus only on that; with the first one because she fails at her goals and just blindly imitates him without finding herself, and the second one because she shouldn't feel that way and questions herself over those quite frequently.
I have no idea if Horikoshi plans to make her put her feelings first for him over heroism like she did with her -risking it and acting against what a hero "should" do so they can both just be Himiko Toga and Ochako Uraraka.
I have no idea, but it would make me so sad if he did.
EDIT:
In chapter 424 we see Shoto first in the hospital, when the narration explains things cant be as simple as Deku thought as a kid. Then Ochako appears, with her arm over her stomach probably thinking about her fight. It can't end so easily, and I wouldnt be surprised if chapter 427 or 428 was about them.
Fun thought: what if Himiko is the one about to see Spinner? jkjkjk. It could be cute tho.

two is better than one
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: ochako uraraka x gn!reader x nejire hado
summary: you have feelings for both ochako and nejire, so you decide to confess to both! turns out both girls like you back...
tags: wholesome fluff, confession (to both girls), polyamorous relationship, happy ending for everyone, use of y/n
Tumblr media
it wasn't fair. deciding between ochako and nejire was an impossible choice! you've known nejire for longer now, but ochako was the one you had spent the most time with recently. but then again, nejire made you smile more often! but ochako had a really cute smile herself…
no, it was absolutely impossible to pick between the two of them. both of these girls were kind hearted heroes, who always made you feel better when you were around them. their smiles always lightened up your day and you couldn't imagine living without either of them! and you knew you had to tell them that…
the two girls had already confessed their love to you and had just been waiting to hear back from you, so when you invited them to meet you behind the school, they both expected to be the one you chose. you can imagine how confused they were when they saw each other there, before you arrived shortly after them…
"i don't mean to sound rude, but why is ochako here?"
nejire asked, being as blunt as usual. luckily, ochako didn't seem to take that question personally. after all, she had been wondering the same thing…
"i need to talk to both of you. after your confession, i was conflicted. i love both of you, but i can't just pick one. you both mean a lot to me and i wouldn't want to be without either of you…"
your words didn't seem to get through to the two of them the way you had expected, instead raising a few more questions.
"what does that mean, y/n…?"
ochako asked carefully, before glancing to the side and exchanging confused looks with nejire.
"well… it means i want to be with both of you. if you're alright with that, of course…"
"in a relationship with both of us…?"
ochako asked carefully, just to make sure she got this right. honestly, that thought had never crossed her mind before…
"yes!"
"it does sound nice..!"
nejire chirped in, quickly taking interest in the idea.
"i've been in love with y/n for a while now, but i do like you too, ochako. i wouldn't want you to get hurt, neither would i want to get hurt because of this. but the three of us have always been getting along, haven't we? i don't think changing the label of our relationship would be such a bad thing!"
ochako's cheeks flushed at nejire's words. being in a relationship with two people at the same time? those two had always been her friends, so it truly wouldn't change that much. only now she'd get to also hold hands and kiss the most important people in her life.
"i– i think i like how that sounds…!"

I know I said I hated making analysis posts
but holy fuck nuggets
if I was crying last week, I must've ended draughts in the fucking Sahara today, my god. anygayss onto the word vomit>>
The Speaker :-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this scene already had the waterworks going tbh, the way she stumbles over her words and stands alone, begging the crowd to
look at him, please look at him he's just a boy playing hero let us save him, tell us we can save him let him in he does not belong in the rain
and I wonder how people could possibly hate her character, see her courage and passionate desperation to save a person she cares about from the darkness and think 'uraraka isn't a real hero, she's just there for the cute heroine role' like shut the hell up this is queen shit right here
Tumblr media
A GODDESS/ BABYGIRL/ LOVE OF MY FKN LIFE RIGHT HERE YA PLEBIANS
The Spoken:-
Tumblr media
but really, this episode belongs to Ayane-san, she fucking slayed Ochako's speech. the hoarse shout of her screaming over the crowd, say
"he's just a student! please let him stay in the one place he has always belonged and been welcome, please let him come back to his hero academia, his home"
gave me such intense goosebumps I had to pause and walk that shit off
Also Izuku falling to his knees and sobbing so hard he's gasping for air? looking like a stray kitten with his teary green eyes and battered figure?? I am a puddle of tears at his feet someone give my baby a long, bubbly shower and some hot cocoa ಥ_ಥ
(Special mention to the heteromorph lady and Kota for hugging him for us T^T)
The Saving:-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off, love how everyone's all teary eyed (Kirishima my manliest boi is sobbing) and it moves to Katsuki all deadpan like asjhsjedknws
Izuku meanwhile, looks fucking gorgeous (his eyes are back, his emerald doe eyesss) like imagine being heckled by a crowd and then being asked for reassurance?? the AUDACITY?!and he responds so confidently MY BABY I'M FOREVER PROUD OF THIS SIDE OF HIS
the end scene was a balm to wound, I cannot stress how long I paused it just to take in how soft it all was. the umbrella dude, Inko on his arm, Iida making way with Yaomomo, Kami, Tokoyami and Katsuki while Kota follows Izuku behind and the others handle the crowd-
In summary, class 1A is peak bestie goals, Ochako is the hero we don't have but need ;-; , Kota is best boi and Izuku is the sweetest crybaby hero to ever exist periodt.
I'm done now it's y'all turn, lemme hear them thots I am despairing for a good chat :3

MHA 2.8 - Battle on, Challengers - part 1
This is my first watch of MHA, so no spoilers past this episode.
Tumblr media
This is super relatable, I also see sparkly bubblegum pink bubbles whenever an attractive person walks by me.
Tumblr media
Pikachu’s silly mode face is so cute. It is even cuter with him wrapped up like a little lettuce wrap. I enjoyed his swift defeat after hitting on his opponent.
Tumblr media
This petty troll is obnoxious and I love him.
I wonder if he gets on most people in the fandom’s nerves, or is he liked? I am hesitant of interacting with the fandom since I am scared of spoilers.
Tumblr media
There is a bird-head kid and a lil’ red dinosaur in this picture and somehow they are not the weird ones here. Deku’s nerd intensity is just that powerful.
Imagine being so out of pocket that a bird is judging you. Kirishima looks low-key concerned for him.
Tumblr media
The gremlin is not amused. To be fair he has probably been hearing Izuku mutter obsessively his entire life. Bakugo has a right to be over it.
The image of the words bouncing off of his face has to be one of my favorite visual gags this show has ever done. I snort-laughed.
Tumblr media
This is a sweet small character moment. Where everyone else is weirded out or annoyed by Deku, Uraraka perceives him in such a positive and supportive way. She see’s his detailed note taking and thinks it is an amazing quality. She is right, he has passion and intelligence!
Tumblr media
Oh no. Iida, you poor sweet summer child. He is such an earnest person it hurts my heart to see him get played like this. His precious dork energy is off the charts.
Tumblr media
She just turned this tournament into a commercial. This is so dark-sided yet so genius. I could critique how materialistic this is for an aspiring hero, but I have to respect her game.
Also, why does her hair look like a bushel of uncooked hot dogs?
Tumblr media
He is like a tiny puppet dancing in the palm of her hand. I love that she came prepared with her own microphone. This brings up a question. Can the audience hear the fighters talking, or are they watching silent fights? None of the other students were shown to have mics.
Tumblr media
You got got, son, you got got. It was a humiliating win, but still a win. If he had lost from being tricked I would have flipped shit.

Hi ya. Love your blog.
Today I will clutter your ask box with why tripping is a plot device, and why I despise it.
There's two separate times Izuku the Ping Pong Ball Extraordinare trips in story that I remember and despise.
First one being the entrance exam trip. Used in so many fanfics and even has conspiracy theory of Nedzu being responsible for it.
Let's gather the feelings the scene gives off. Izuku is excited and mesmerised because UA is his dream school, he has gained belief in himself because he has a quirk and just begins to think maybe, maybe he can do it. He can be a hero. Be worthy of existing. He is starting to believe this, believe in himself.
And boom comes the deplorable trip on nothing. I hate it. Izuku's previously positive thoughts about himself jumps off to a black hole and he returns to of course I am a joke, a bad one at that mindset.
The narrative significance of this scene is made out to be introduction of Uraraka. But it is not. It is one of the cogs of entrance exam arc that pushes Izuku to be a anxious mess that leaves him with zero points and mercy of One For All for passing the exam. I will return to this later because it has far reaching narrative and character development implications.
It pushes Izuku off the previously optimistic and hopeful mindset and onto the thought progress of he can only do something if he has One For All. The trip is a literal Diabolos/Deus Ex Machina depending on how you look.
Second trip is the one at the reveal of Full Cowling. Izuku ,the I Run on Walls Because Why Not, Midoriya trips and falls because he misjudged the landing, right when he was thinking positively about himself? Really? The definitely coincidental second trip when Izuku , I Fight as Ping Pong Ball Truck, Midoriya is thinking positively about himself. The one that changes his mindset from I am doing okay to I suck and I must try harder in an instant? It is loathsome.
And there isn't any payback or delayed but greater reward for this deliberate moments to stunt his character development. His ability to believe in himself. I just can't understand why an author would do this? And I do wonder if I am overreacting to some nothing of importance moments of imbalance.
So, yeah. What is your thoughts regarding this?
Because it annoys me to no end and a second opinion would be priceless, especially if it is coming from someone whose indepth or surface examinations of the story I very much like. Good days and sorry if I am cluttering your ask box.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Look, I'm not particularly bothered by how BNHA uses the tripping trope. I've read more than enough shounen and it could be infinitely worse. At least no one is tripping into some girl's boobs. (Though that trope is played with twice in an atypical way when Hatsume makes an entrance, but she is the instigator and Izuku is the only one flustered).
At the points you mention, the tripping is used to show how fragile Izuku's self-confidence is. I don't necessarily think that's a problem, especially because both instances occur early in the manga. At least Izuku was having introspection back then no matter how negative it was. And I do think the Entrance Exam trip was also to introduce Ochako because pre UA Izuku would never have had the guts to talk to a girl on his own at that point. If you're concerned about the narrative mean spiritedly putting Izuku down, Bakugou is right there

I have some random headcannons for you!
Bakugou's sense of hearing and touch in his hands is a bit fried bc of his Quirk, but he'd be the last to admit it.
Kaminari's sense of touch also isn't that acute. Also sometimes his system messes up bc nerves run on electric charges. Sometimes his body moves without him telling it to or he just randomly starts feeling anxious or excited or sleepy.
Izuku gets cramps in his hand when he writes too much. When Uraraka sees him massaging his hand she'll ask if he wants her to write for him while he dictates and the answer is always yes.
Aoyama gets laser poisoning.
Bakugou calls Aoyama French Fry.
Once Shinsou got his Quirk, he started talking less and less until middle school. He spent the entire time never speaking to a soul unless absolutely necessary. He answered questions in class to avoid being noticed but otherwise he never spoke. Even at home. Even now he only talks when there's important information to impart. Tho sometimes Aizawa can get him to talk about his interests.
Also he's lying about it having to be a question. I can't count how many times in cannon he's ensnared people with statements.
Eri's family is her dad (Togata), her other dad (Aizawa), her dad's husband (Mic), her brother (Shinsou), and her uncle (Izuku). Izuku wants to know why he's her uncle and she says it's cause he takes care of her like the others and she loves him to death but he spends a lot less time with her than the others (bc hero work/school/friends) and therefore there's slightly less of a bond. Izuku promises to visit more.
Everybody thinks Kirishima and Bakugou are dating but they're not. If you ask Kirishima he will laugh and not give you a straight answer. If you ask Bakugou he will yell at you. Kirishima is cryptic for the express purpose of annoying Bakugou.
Shigaraki loves dogs.
Koda has lost his homework more than once because he left it in range of his rabbit. And other people's homework. And the occasional chair leg. His rabbit is a holy terror and Supreme Overlord Queen of Everything.
Ooo Ive never heard that for Kaminari before! I imagine hed probably have things like occasional numbness, “pins and needles” feelings, and have his hair stand on end too. I think its so cool when bodies can handle their quirks, but not enough where it completely negates all side effects
Uraraka writing for Deku is so cute, and you cant tell me she wouldnt start taking two sets of notes in class when she notices hes having some issues
The Shinsou angst… I wonder if he wouldve taken to having more online friends, or even learning a signed language so he could make friends with people who wouldnt immediately distrust him. I could also see him even texting his family as opposed to talking to them, as sad as that is
“My rabbit ate my and everyone elses homework” is probably the lamest excuse. He probably had to bring her into class and let her eat a sheet of paper to prove he wasnt lying!

Well that’s an interesting question. It’s one I think we already know the answer to (or at least what the answer was), but what say we ponder it anyway to speculate on what it’ll mean for next chapter and how the whole fight’ll play out.
Up until now, Toga hasn’t had a villain name seemingly because of her insistence that she doesn’t warrant it; she is a normal girl who merely loves in her own way. Sure she lives on the streets or in caves & fights alongside terrorists against heroes, but that’s because society attacked her first, was hostile to a normal girl like her first. It’s what has to change to accommodate a normal girl like her.
But that’s been her answer up ‘till now. So now that she’s asking herself this vital question about her origin again, what kind of answers might she give and what could that mean for her?
Tumblr media
Well she could hold fast to her convictions above; she has no villain name because she is just the girl Toga Himiko, fighting for her life against government agents who want her dead and killed her friend already. Perhaps if she says as such out loud; it could lead to the final breakthrough in Uraraka I’m hoping for where she realizes how much Toga is motivated by fear for her life and we’ll finally get somewhere there. I really feel whatever final resolution comes between these two is gonna be based on the two sympathizing with & understanding each other.
Which, speaking of sympathy between the two; I wonder if Toga might look at Uraraka’s strange actions and see them as another way they’re alike, and embrace how that makes her weird and also normal. Because Uraraka is normal, that’s part of why Toga’s so interested in her, but if she’s coming to Toga after her side killed two of her friends for freaking girl talk in the middle of a war then she’s definitely a weirdo. Just like Toga. (Maybe we can get Uraraka’s poor background to come back to refute Toga’s ‘easy life’ claim while we’re at it.)
It’s also possible the villain name question will remind Toga that she doesn’t want to be a villain, which’ll be combined with Uraraka telling her killing & bloodlust is bad to get her to just quit. Not a fan of this one tbh. I just think giving the girl whose been fending for her life since middle school the violence & murder is bad breakthrough sounds a bit off. At least if the other side isn’t gonna address their own wrongdoing in the process too. And Toga just giving up without addressing the ‘heroes will kill me’ concern sounds more self-destructive than ever to me. But I’m listing it for completion.
Still, another possibility is to realize she isn’t normal anymore; look at all this chaos she’s been dragged into. And maybe she’ll be okay with that. Maybe she could embrace all this chaos and the roll she’s been forced into, finally take up a villain name, and entrench herself in her new family’s fight. In which case I am getting back on my ‘We are getting My Hero part 2′ BS because that is Dabi’s new ice quirk all over again. Much like when Bakugou got his hero name, that’s the sign of a new leg of a character's arc beginning, not said arc coming to an end.
And there’s other ways it could go down still. Guess we’ll see next...oh what’s that?...Taking a week off?...Well good for Horikoshi. Anyway, guess we’ll see in two weeks how this question plays out.

Distant
Summary:
You go out for an unexpected lunch and catch up with some old friends.
Chapter 5
It's been two weeks since the Hero Awards, and you have never been so drained. Being a hero therapist means whenever they get their ego bruised, they need reassurance. By that, you mean things like, ‘everything's gonna be okay, and ‘you'll get up there next time, buddy.' It's like communicating with toddlers, and you mean that in the most modest way possible. But the best part about it is your salary was pretty hefty during times like that. Still, nothing compared to what a pro gets paid but still a pretty generous amount. So when you have extra spending money, the best thing to do is, well, spend it. So that’s what you did.
You purchased some shoes about a week ago, and they didn't fit correctly, so you've been meaning to return them. Although dealing with your busy schedule and the fact that you got in a very expressive fight with Denki, you haven't had the time. With your day cleared and nothing better to do, why not go return them now?
You put on gray sweatpants, an oversized graphic sweatshirt, and some white air forces. You put your hair into a low bun with a slick back side part and did your edges. You picked up an extra coat just in case and grabbed the bag with the shoes, and headed out the door.
After driving to the mall, you make your way to the store to return your shoes. You return your shoes and decide to go to a couple more stores since you’re already here. You make your way out of the last store for the day until you hear your name being called from a distance.
You hear someone calling your name and look over to see Uraraka waving her hand signaling that she was the one calling your name.
You wave back, walking over to her, wondering what she could possibly be doing at the mall.
“Hey Ochako, what are you doing here?”
“I decided to come here since I had a day off today. I’m also going out to lunch with Deku, Iida, Todoroki, and Tsu.”
“Oh, that sounds nice. Well, you have fun on your day off and tell everyone I said hi.”
Ochako faced you with a bright closed-eye smile on her face that went ear to ear. Then she began to look with wide eyes.
“You know what? How ‘bout you come and tell them hi yourself. I’d bet they’d love to see you too.”
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to intrude on your day off? I know it’s hard for heroes to get days off.”
“No, I insist you must come. Besides the last time we hung out, I was drunk out of my mind, and you never go to hang out with the guys, so think of this as another get-together. Just with fewer people.”
“Well if you insist that it’s okay, then I’ll come, but could you at least let them know that I’m coming first.”
“What’s the fun in that? I want to surprise them.”
You roll your eyes at Ochako’s last comment. It was already bad enough that she was practically forcing you to come to hang out with her and your old friend. To not even let them know that you would be coming was another.
“Okay, let’s not keep them waiting any longer!”
“What do you mean to keep them waiting? Are you late to lunch?”
“Only by like ten minutes, but who’s really counting?” Ochako says with a shrug.
Ochako begins to grab you by the arm and practically drag you out of the mall. You were honestly surprised that she was so strong, and she had a mean grip. You assumed it was from all the hero training, though.
“Wait, Ochako, slow down! You never even sent me the address to the place we’re going to.”
“Oh yeah, you’re right, my bad.”
You two stop in the middle of the parking lot, and she pulls out her phone. She begins to type something on her phone as a car honks at her. You two move out the way so that the vehicle can pass.
“I’m so sorry, mister. I didn’t even realize we were in the middle of the road,” Ochako gasps as she stares at the car.
At this moment, you wondered how in the world was Ochako a real hero when she was so clumsy. Ochako returns to doing whatever she was doing on her phone before putting it back in her purse. You feel a little buzz in your pocket, signifying that you got a notification on your phone.
“I just sent you the address to the place, so don’t be late,” Ochako states while pointing at you, letting out a small chuckle.
“Sorry to break it to you, but we are already late,” You respond with a finger pointed towards her and letting out a snicker as well.
“Okay, well, I’ll see you at the place,” Ochako says as she waves goodbye and walks towards her car.
You walk to your car as well and hop in. You pull your phone out from your pocket to look at the address that Ochako had sent you. You click on the link, and the address pops up along with the name of the place. You realize that you have never heard of the area before, but you were always down to try new things.
You pull out your parking spot and begin to drive. The place wasn’t very far from the mall, but you expected as much since Ochako didn’t mind being late. You arrive in less than ten minutes and begin to look for a parking spot. As you get out of the car and begin to walk, you notice that the place looks a bit fancier than expected and begin to think you are underdressed for the mini outing.
“Oh great, we got here at the same time. That's a relief. If we didn’t, then I would have to come to look for you, and that means we would be even later than we already are.”
“You didn’t tell me that we would be eating at a nice restaurant. I thought it would be like a cafe or something. I feel undressed.”
“Oh, you’ll be fine none of us are going to care. Besides, we’re already here so no turning back now.”
You look over at Ochako and notice that she was wearing rather nice clothes to just go shopping in. She had on a white turtleneck that clung to her frame, a white overcoat that stopped a little below her knees, and some pink business pants that hugged her thighs. To top it all off, she had some pink pointed-toe heels that matched her pants along with a white mini handbag. You questioned how you didn’t notice her choice of clothes before.
After you finish looking over her outfit, you begin to look down at yours. You were definitely a little more than underdressed; you were very much underdressed. You looked like you just woke up and walked out of the house compared to Ochako. Even though you felt like you were out of place, you still wanted to go inside and take the opportunity to catch up with everyone. Also, who were you to pass up free food? By the looks of the place, you could tell that the food was going to be exquisite.
You and Ochako walked into the building and stopped at the front desk to check on the reservation. Ochako begins to talk to the lady at the front.
“Goodaftern ma'am, how may I help you?” The woman at the desk states.
“Hi, good afternoon, Ochako party of six,” Ochako tells the women so that you two could be seated.
“Oh yes, perfect. Your party is waiting for you, right this way ma’am.”
You and Ochako follow the lady to your seats. As the two of you are walking, you realize that Ochako said six people instead of five. You turn to Ochako and question her.
“When did you make a reservation for me?”
“On the car ride over here. I didn’t want to show up here, and they say that you can’t sit with us.”
“Oh well, thank you.”
“No problem!”
“Your party is right here ma’am, please enjoy,” The lady says as she sets two menus on the table and walks away.
“Hey guys,” Ochako says as she walks up and gives Tsu a hug. “I’m sorry if I took too long, I had to stop at the mall, and I ended up running into her, so I decided I would bring her with me.” Ochako continues pointing towards you.
“Hello, it’s so nice seeing you this afternoon,” Iida says as he greets you.
“Hey,” Izuku says, giving you a soft smile. “I didn’t think I would see you after the hero awards.”
“Hi,” Shoto says, glancing at you then going back to whatever he was doing.
You collectively greeted everyone and made your way to the empty seat next to Shoto. Ochako pulled out her chair, sitting next to Izuku, and started browsing the menu.
“Have you ever been here before?” Izuku asks you looking up from his menu.
“No, I haven’t,” you say while looking up from your menu. “I’m not really sure what to get.”
“The Unagi Don is amazing here,” Ochako says, looking at the menu.
“I might have to try it then,” You say, looking over the rest of the menu.
You all continued to talk and catch up while waiting for the food to come out. The conversation veers to many different topics. From how everyone's jobs are going to what they have been up, to since the last time they had all hung out in a group setting like this. Somehow during the conversation, you and Denki had become the hot topic.
“Oh, after the party, where did you and Denki go?” Tsu questioned you with a puzzled look on her face.
You were at a loss for words. Out of all the things we could have talked about, why did it have to be Denki? He was a sore subject for you right now since you two hadn’t spoken since that night. You decide to just answer her question in hopes that she drops the subject.
“Oh, we just went to this diner down the street,” You say while trying not to glare at Tsu.
“Yeah, Momo said you were gonna be gone for 15 minutes, but you never came back,” Tsu said while grabbing her water.
You mimic Tsu and take a sip of your water. You were starting to get really tired of the topic at hand. Shoto interjects her and starts to add on to the conversation.
“Didn’t Denki used to like you?” Shoto says while checking his phone.
Your eyes widen at the sudden statement. “No, I never knew that-” you say while being cut off by Shoto putting his phone down to address something else.
“Izuku liked you too,” Shoto states bluntly.
Your mouth gapes open, ready to say something quickly interrupted by the continuous choking coming from in front of you. Izuku’s face is red as he pats Ochako on the back. You stare at Shoto, and you start to wonder what provoked him to say such things.
Your brain was going a hundred miles per hour as you seemed to have the whole conversation on loop in your head. You start to think of what Shoto said about the two boys. What he had said about Denki was a question but what he said about Izuku was a statement. Shoto knew that Izuku liked you back in high school.
“Oh, look everyone, the food is here!” Iida exclaimed awkwardly.
Maybe coming to lunch wasn’t a good idea, you thought to yourself briefly as your food was placed in front of you. You didn't even know if you were hungry anymore, the embarrassment making you lose your appetite. No one at the table knew what to say next, so you decided to break the silence.
“So, how’s everyone’s food?” You say while everyone directs their attention towards you.
They all speak over each other, saying that it was good, and it went back to silence again. You get a notification on your phone from your one and only savior, Mina. You open the text message and begin to read it. She texted you to come over because she insists that she dropped so much water on the stairs and slipped and fell all the way down the staircase. She says that you need to come to see her right now because life is too short, and she could have died at that very moment.
You text her back and tell her that you would be over right away since you suddenly had so much free time. You couldn’t have been any happier at that moment. You had to get out of that restaurant and fast, and Mina just offered you the perfect opportunity.
“I’m so sorry guys, but I just got a text from Mina saying she got hurt.”
“Oh my god, is she okay?” Ochako says worriedly.
“Yeah, she should be fine. I just want to make sure she’s ok,” you say while getting up and taking your wallet out to pay for your meal.
“It was so nice seeing all of you again.”
“Bye, it was very nice seeing you, and I hope that Mina will be okay. I would hate for this to affect her hero work,” Iida exclaims, waving goodbye.
You walk out of the restaurant, taking your keys out of your pocket. You then get interrupted by a familiar voice. You turn around to see Midoriya calling out your name as he ran up to your car before you could leave.
“What’s up, Izuku?”
“I wanted to give you this,” he held his hand out, which held the money you left on the table for your bill.
“I knew if I said I would have paid, you would have declined, so I waited until you were out of the restaurant,” he says while laughing softly.
You looked up at him with a questioning look, then proceeded to look back at the money in his hand. It took you a moment to process everything and mouthed the word ‘O’ before you began to speak to him.
“Izuku, you don’t have to do that.” You spoke softly.
“Yeah, I know,” he said while rubbing the back of his neck. “But after Ochako dragging you here and what happened at the table-“
“Thank you,” you interjected while smiling.
“You’re welcome,” Izuku says while reaching for your car door and opening it for you.
You thank him once more as you get in your car. You head to Mina’s house to give her a giant hug for saving you from the most awkward conversation you have ever had in your life.

(some) BNHA characters as Charli XCX songs
Before you say anything shut the fuck up let me set the scene for you: I'm blasting Charli, I'm high as sin, my friend is Tired of hearing about BNHA but sitting there making some exceedingly homosexual earrings, and I'm thinking about my next tattoo. This post is therefore incontrovertible truth. I'm 100% correct. Why THESE characters specifically? Idk they came to me. Also it's a disproportionate amount of Brat bc that's what the fucking shuffle feature on her entire discography playlist decided I would listen to.
Hawks– Vroom Vroom. I'm sorry but he would have the time of his life. He thinks this is about him. He is pretty, fast, and it's not that deep. I like this for him.
Todoroki (any of them kids)– Apple. I mean. Look. It's all of the Todorokis. Like all of them. Lowkey. Though this fucks so hard for Dabi and Shouto. But also Natsuo. It's all of them. I know they blasted this shit.
Midoriya– Boom Clap. He's not in love or anything, though this is 100% the boy nerding out about quirks, it's just a wholeheartedly earnest pop song. It's joyous. It's wonderful. I think this is a good one for him. The really fucking sad one for him would be So I about All Might. but like I ugly cry to that song so let's not get into that.
Bakugou– Sympathy is a knife. AIGHT HEAR ME OUT. This is 100% the early part where he's just irrationally a hater of his Deku because why the fuck does this boy get all this power and why is he inadequate in that way fuck him. Anyway. Love.
Toga– Break the Rules. Justice for Toga man just let the poor kid have fun.
Sir Nighteye– White Mercedes. My divorced queen still idolizing All Might. STILL. "Like a white Mercedes always been running too fast... Hurting you feels like I'm hurting as well, All I know is I don't deserve you" LIKE COME ON "One day I'll pull through, And I'll be good enough" I'm so normal about them.
All Might– 360. Like back in his prime. It's so "I'm a fucking celebrity and I earned it bitch" and I'm aware All Might is a good lil man but like come on there had to be that period of his life. And you know what! Real! He's so Julia!
Uraraka– Unlock It. Literally just for "You're on my mind, The feeling like an astronaut" Like come on. Also she's million dollar babe! I love her! I just want her and Toga to be happy man I'm so sad
Shigaraki– Crash. "I'm about to crash into the water gonna take you with me I'm high voltage self-destructive end it all so legendary" same bestie.
Finally enemy is literally just bakudeku I don't make the rules.

Bkdk is so incredible just for how full of ambiguity it is.
Like, it is so fun to look into these little hidden details and meanings to what goes around these two it's amazing, when many characters have a more straight foward relationship with each other, and bkdk themselves.
Like, Uraraka is Deku's friend, she has a crush, and is trying to figure this out while she has a similar desire to understand her own villain counter part, Toga.
Todoroki is friends with both of them, and he is very sure that he is. He is around them a lot, and is part of the "big three".
We know all these things pretty clearly, but NEVER get the same with bkdk.
Nobody currently describes them as "friends", but they do often point out their status' as "childhood friends", Bakugou is the closest person to Deku. Deku is the one that has chased him his whole life. He is "the guy" Bakugou is waiting for, the one who knows him best. Deku was striving to make ofa his own for him. He loses control of his heart for him. He YEARNS to be closer to him again. And at some point the idea of standing shoulder to shoulder with Bakugou "sent chills down his spine".
Like??? Those you can all excuse by saying it's just strong frienship or fondness but. The actual narrative NEVER said that it was the case.
My first anon ask! But not really an ask 😅.
Yes, it IS fun to look at hidden details, I love it too. I agree, there’s so much of their story that could be fleshed out more, like we don’t even know that much about the nature of their childhood friendship! Please indulge me while I ramble for no reason just because you invoked me.
We have a few single panel snapshots of their interactions as kids, but we never have a full scene/chapters like with the Todorokis, Tenko, Hawks etc. even though their relationship is so central to the narrative! There’s also a massive gap after the river scene and quirk manifestation right up to the final year of middle school—that’s like 8 or 9 years where we have no idea what their relationship looked like.
We know that Deku was often there when Kacchan was playing with his friends, but they’re both unreliable narrators so we don’t actually know whether Deku was part of their group, or if he just following them around. That makes me so sad to think about but it’s a big question mark. I personally think they’re both so dishonest with their feelings for each other that they both misrepresent the relationship in their memories. Maybe they were close but both twisted it after everything went wrong. Who knows! But it’s fun to wonder.
Let’s take the weirdly inconsistent forest scene where they get further away each time they remember it (thanks deleted Reddit user for the almost accurate image);
Tumblr media
Ch 9 is Kacchan reminiscing during Dk Vs Kchn 1, Ch 117 is Deku’s flashback in the lead-up to their Ground Beta Fight and Ch 275 is Kacchan thinking while following Deku to lure Shigaraki away from the city (side note how tiny Deku is in this one!).
So each picture represents something:
A) ‘I’ve always seen Deku as behind me’
B) ‘I’ve been chasing/following Kacchan my whole life’
C) ‘I need to keep up, Deku’s not going to leave me behind’. Literally:
Tumblr media
Essentially, they have always been each other’s yardstick, the thing against which their own success and value is measured. But the yardstick kept changing length and I think at this point in the manga they’ve both realised that relationships aren’t about who’s ahead or behind.
The panels after the one in 275 are some of my favourites. He remembers their childhood, he remembers their fight, and he GRINS as he finally gets to work side by side with Deku.
Tumblr media
Look at that smile! Not for the first (or last) time, he thinks about how he had it wrong and now he’s letting himself just be at the same level. Of course he keeps his typical competitive bravado, because he’s still the same brat we love. ‘Losing’ isn’t losing to Deku anymore though. Based on the context, it’s not absurd to suppose he doesn’t want to lose the opportunity to be by his side, to fight with him, to keep him close. Aahhhh.
I’m gonna stop now, but thank you for sharing my excitement about the lovely ambiguity in the story. 🥰

another thing I want to say bc I couldn’t write the meta yet: the fact Ochako has connections with Himiko and Izuku, and Katsuki and her being the ones to do promises for the rest of their lives… idk, it sounds like another confirmation to me of how togachako is meant to parallel not only Tenko and Deku, but also Katsuki and Izuku. They both also got their dreams/visions of the future crushed by things out of their control. if we also think about the times Ochako just looked contemplative at Izuku -I’m picturing the cliff scene and after Katsuki apologizes-, I wonder if she was connecting the dots.
EDIT: The apology was Katsuki’s moment of being honest, and Ochako looks at it with a certain… neutral look? When she told the civilians about letting Izuku in UA, she was sincere… but she did not mention in that moment Himiko, even when she flashed in front of her eyes. She can’t think about saving heroes/Izuku without remembering her. But she also knows she can’t mention her to others easily, I would say she even feels guilty over it. How can she picture a villain when defending her friend? And when she opens up a little bit, thinking she is weird bc of the level of connection she feels with her, making her feel uneasy when pretending she can just fight her and that’s it, Izuku tells her what he thinks she needs to hear. That she’s not weird at all! And that he does feel the same, that he can try to save at least the crying Tenko, tho a fight might be unavoidable and he is willing to participate if needed. Ochako looks at him and… I can’t see her with the “soft looking face” many people believe she has, I can’t see it as her “being more in love with him”. It looks… sad to me. With the new interpretation I have about Ochako pretending everything is fine many times, what if this is her being sad? Because even tho this talk helps her understand her feelings better, I think it’s partially bc she confirms hers are less heroic than his. And maybe, maybe it’s okay. Maybe she’ll never be the hero like Deku. Just a girl, who wants to reach to another girl’s sadness, to make it disappear, to make her happy and feel loved herself.
Deku is a hero. She can’t just tell him everything on her mind. Telling him “then… I guess that makes us both weird”, yet she doesn’t think about that at all during her fight. It doesn’t motivate her in particular this “shared” idea, and it could be bc it’s not that similar after all. In another hand, Deku is able to remember that when he is stable in his fight, as it is relevant to him; they talked about villains being humans! And that’s useful in multiple ways —it means none of them, including AFO, are impossible to defeat, and that there’s a chance to save. So I wonder. Does Ochako end up deciding to just…give up opening up completely with him in that moment, preferring to end the conversation with the realization. “Ah… he is a true hero after all… Not like me”. Her fight was about her doing what she wanted not as Uravity, but as Ochako Uraraka. About her feelings, and Himiko Toga’s. Was about them.

Oooh if you read MHA what did you think of the ending ?
Oh man.......... Where do I even start....
For context, I've adored MHA since season 1 of the anime first dropped. It was probably my main fandom for at least five years. The first fic I ever posted to AO3 was an MHA fic. I obsessively kept up with weekly manga leaks, and even helped translate the raw Japanese for friends in discord servers.
It was never a perfectly written manga, and I was fine with that. The writing was on the wall since the Overhaul Arc, where cracks started showing with character bloat, constant sidelining and awful treatment of female characters, and out of control power creep. I think the manga could've been a lot better if Horikoshi wasn't crushed by the brutality of the publishing demands of Shounen Jump. But I thought at its core, the story had a wonderful heart, and that was what kept me in love with it.
I fell out of MHA in around 2021 with the Deku vs Lady Nagant fight, because when she blew up from the AFO failsafe I pretty much rage quit over the fact that every time a woman got to do or be something cool, Horikoshi found a way to rip it away from us. I wasn't really feeling the story anymore, so my love for the manga became overshadowed with my frustration and I decided to move on for awhile (and then my friends got me into DSMP lol). Also the fandom was toxic AF and that was not helping. For instance, I have some criticisms of the overall writing of the Todoroki family plot, but some people chose to interpret every manga panel and line of dialogue in the worst faith imaginable, threw a fit over it every week, and it was just exhausting. The LOV were some of my favorite characters too, but that section of the fandom was a cesspool of negativity sometimes. (Of course, other portions of the fandom had their own issues too, but I wasn't around to see all of it).
I still kept tabs on the story to this day, and while I thought the final arc was heading into a rushed mess, I loved the thematic direction that the story was going in. That Midoriya, Uraraka, and Shouto were going to be better heroes than all that came before them by saving the villains.
Then, uh, we got the most depressing endings imaginable.
I could forgive the flaws of the ending and walk away from the story happy if it hadn't lost its heart along the way. It's just baffling to me that a series that began with the Deku saying "This is the story of how I became the greatest hero" ends with him failing to save the person who needed it the most. Shigaraki is the saddest character in the manga and Deku, our protagonist, who back in the Sports Festival Arc would break all his fingers twice over just to get through to a friend, had to kill him instead of saving him. It's bleak. It's a tragedy. And it makes no sense that we are experiencing this tragedy in the same chapter where somehow Edgeshot of all people survived by becoming a sentient worm on a string. Where Hawks's solution to fix a hero system that enabled domestic abusers to flourish and used assassins to 'keep the peace' is to hand out participation trophies. Like????? Meanwhile 17-year old Toga has to die of blood loss even though Gran Torino gets disemboweled on a monthly basis and Best Jeanist has no lungs. There's also the whole issue of how the story seemed to show that having a clear #1 hero and that responsibility being on one man's shoulders (All Might) was a bad thing. But then the power scaling got so out of control that the same burden was placed on Deku's shoulders 😭😭. I'm just baffled lol. It's so odd that we are flip-flopping between a bleak tragedy/cautionary tale and a cartoonishly simplistic way of looking at the world. Idek, but no matter what I wish the best for Horikoshi's health because I think it's clear that this manga took a huge toll on him.

Bro, I HAVE THOUGHTS. (Disclaimer: this is right after the leaks, I have in no way sorted out my thoughts, so this is just rambling but -inhales a whole load of air and-)
For a chapter with a title that clearly refers to toga and ochako, we did get mostly nothing. BUT! You could say it's a way of showing how they are trying to go back to normal, shutting everything down and trying to pilot through the day. While we get glimpses that clearly show that ochako is not okay. In a certain way, we've also been getting this with deku, so onto my next point:
I do want Deku to talk about what he's going through, he's been pushing down his feelings. And at some point, I did think that he was gonna talk this out with bakugo, as a parallel to dvk2, but I'm not too mad of him talking of this with ochako. Both developed relationships with their corresponding villain and both failed. If both of them can sort their feelings with someone that understands, I will be happy.
BUT IF THIS SOMEHOW TURNS INTO URARAKA AND DEKU BECOMING A COUPLE I WILL RIOT. Senseless. He'll never be what toga was to her. He'll just be deku. And maybe in the future she could love deku as she once loved toga, but not now.
Also, edgeshot being just a tiny thing is so hilarious to me. I do get people being mad that they keep on living in the most stupid manner while the villains do not get that treatment. It is totally fair. But he a little guy that made me CACKLE, also he and dark shadow should be best friends.
Going back to uraraka, the tears in those panels where so beautifully drawn that it was so much more painful.
I wonder what their talk will be like. I wonder what will happen. But there's truly one direction I do not want it to take.
