Little fun fact I wrote this in class, and then there was a fckn fire drill while I was smack in the middle of writing it lmaooo… but anyways I hope you like it.

Summery: After Casey walks in on a certain situation, he gets dragged into it by accident

It was another average day in the apocalypse. Or… Casey thought it was. It was around… maybe lunch time? When he heard a burst of loud hysterical cackles coming from Donatellos lab.

When he ran to check who the noise was coming from, he walked in upon seeing master Leonardo, having pinned the scientist on the floor, and tickling the life out of him.

“LEHEHEOHOHO DOHOHONTT!!!” He cackled as the older twin dug into his brothers armpits furiously.

“Master Leonardo what’s going on…?” Casey asked, slightly confused.

“Oh nothing! Just trying to destress my little bro.”

“YOHOHOURE OHOHNLY FIHIHIVE MIHIHUTES OHOHLDERRR!!!” Donnie shrieked.

Leo jokingly frowned at this and dug harder into his underarms, causing the others laughter to grow silent as he banged a fist to the floor.

Leo took this as a sign to stop (he didn’t want to kill him after all. And besides he wasn’t that cruel!), and he got off his brother.

Donnie curled into himself on the floor as he laid a giggly mess.

Casey giggled at the sight. “I didn’t know master Donatello was ticklish.”

“Oh yeah very much so.” Leo commented with a smirk.

“Yohou ahare ahahlso… EHEHEHE OHOKAHYY SOHORY!!” Leo had planted a light but quick poke to his side, making him scramble away.

“Hmm… what about you Case?” Leo asked his young ninja trainee with an even bigger smirk, “You ticklish also?”

The teen flinched at the question as a blush creeped to his face.

“N-no… I- w-wait!” Casey tried protesting as he inched backwards. But before he could make a run for it, Leo had already caught him by the neck of his shirt.

“And where are you going mister?” Leo teased.

“S-stohohop lehehet mehe goho!!” Casey writhed around in the elders grip. “Hey Donton wanna give a hand here?”

Although Donnie was still upset about being tortured not too long ago, he couldn’t resist himself.

Soon (thought it was difficult with all the struggling from Casey) they had the boy pinned, Leo sitting on his waist and Donnie pinning his arms above his head.

“You ready Case?” Leo asked him with a mischievous grin.

Casey shook his head silently as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to prepare himself for the inevitable.

Not a moment later, Leo began poking up and down his sides. Casey burst into bubbly giggles as he squirmed around a little under him.

“Ahaha nohohoho!!!”

“Awww is someone a tickwish wittle babyyy..??” Leo cooed teasingly with baby talk, making the younger go completely red. “NOHohoho!!” Casey exclaimed through giggles.

“Oh really? Then what’s this? Why you laughing?” Leo asked in mock confusion. Casey didn’t reply but kept giggling.

Leo began squeezing gently into his belly and Casey convulsed.

“NOHOHOHO!!!” He shrieked.

“Ohh bad spot?” Leo smirked with a tease.

Casey writhed around as the big green turtle hand tickled him senseless

“Ok Case,” Leo said suddenly as he stopped the tickling for a moment. “It’s tradition in the Hamato family that if you get tickled, we have to tickle your worst spot.”

Casey’s eyes widened and he giggled in anticipation, “Yohohure lyhyhying!!!” He protested.

“No I’m not! Right Donnie?” He asked his twin.

Donnie grinned and nodded, “Indeed it is true.”

“See? So where is it then?” Leo asked with a smirk.

Casey’s struggles increased. “Ihihihi wohohont tehehehll!!!”

Leo sighed, “That’s ok. We’ll find out on our own!”

He reached back and began squeezing his thighs and knees. It was Leos worst spot, but he thought it would be funny if it was the teens worst spot also.

But alas it wasn’t as it merely resulted in regular laughter.

“Hmm what about here?” Donnie asked, poking lightly at his ribs.

Casey flinched and squealed at the slight touch.

“Case what was that?” Leo asked teasingly.

“N-nothing!!!” Casey told him frantically.

Leo and Donnie looked at each other with wide grins and began counting down.

“Threeee….”

“W-wait-“

“Twoooo….”

“Guhuyss!!!”

“ONE!”

And at that they began digging into his ribs.

Casey was a mess of hysterical cackles and shrieks as the intense ticklish sensations coursing through his ribs.

“Ohh found it!” Leo smirked.

“STOHOHOHOPPP!!!” Casey shrieked. Soon his laughter went silent and they had to stop.

Casey was left a giggly and flustered mess on the floor.

“Yohou ok Case?” He asked. The teen was completely red and his hair was wild and everywhere, but he wore a smile of pure joy. It really warmed the two olders hearts.

“Yeheah ihim ok…” Casey breathed out. How did he get lucky enough to be taken in by such incredible father figures.

FT w Calvin - Calvin called me today. And so (me being me and wanting to answer friends’ calls whenever possible)- we talked about for about an hour and a half (our usual for us on a good day and when when our schedules allow). He was venting to me about how things are pretty tough with his ma right now and how she’s always on him about his weight and dental school apps. I couldnt help but feel wawa for him and everything he was saying about his mom. I The pressure of everything and trying to find your own balance when hone isn’t helping

It def gave me perspective for me and my own fam (and how pretty good I have it - and that i want to show my mom & das appreciation of what they do fit me

This time around IF YOU MUST KNOW, professionally I am now officially working on my Law School applications and- as of late last night- am signed up to do my NALA Skills Exam (Take 2!). Im not gonna lie, it was a weird feeling returning to it all and opening my NALA account and re-visiting my rubric from July. It was like opening something up from ages ago, and I couldnt help but feel really bittersweet- bc I knew how much this hurt me when it happened. On that same note, however, Im happy that a large part of me has healed and that enough time has passed where I can re-approach with this with a different energy and drive. I so have more hope this time around. Not in me necessarily passing or getting what I want - but in coping with what will be. I think one of the coolest things that ive realized like in the past 2 weeks is that: when it comes to the NALA exam, when it comes to LSAT, etc. —— im realizing how big of a role fear and pressure has played in my journey of those two things.

Note to self: Free yourself of every expectation on you and just live for what you can do. 

This time around, I’m not succumbing to fears of not doing well. Cuz I already did that

I’m not letting my fear hold me back from where I’m meant to go. And whether that is to fail again or to actually pass, I know it will be where I’m meant to be. And that’s just what it is. Shoutout to us, and for learning the importance of failing and falling. No quality person comes from a place of zero failure. Also… is it weird that I’ve been feeling like this ..inactive artist or washed out actor from a show that ended 3 years ago? Lmao Like I feel like someone who has been away from their craft for so long

there was a japanese interview w/ kk (mostly about yearstars because it’s got a dvd release in japan a while ago) published a while ago and its... pretty basic/the answers are rather short, as expected, but

he compares jbj (re: his Affliction) to wolverine and captain america... i am clutching my chest as we speak. i am making a high pitched noise. do you understand me

when asked what kind of a character jbj is and if he’s similar or different to lhk himself, he said that jbj ~craves empathy from people surrounding him, as well as someone who’d understand him and consider him their important person... and then he joked that they’re so similar that he thought maybe jbj is also a leo lol;;;

another question was about jbj’s immortality and what does think about it, and he went to describe how horrible both the immortality and the nightly funtimes™ are, then said “it’s terrifying... if i was... i mean, it’s impossible in reality, but out of curiosity maybe i’d like to try?” wwww

ohh another question was about jbj being born in the 1920s, having a different mindset and experiences from people living in the modern times, and how was it like to create a character like that, so lhk brings up farewell to arms and says that soldiers take the orders they’re given and regard them as absolute, as well as set the bar high for themselves, but ~100 years later one’s heart has calmed down, they learn to laugh about things and stop being 100% serious about things. [shrimp note: this part is interesting because it’s almost the opposite side of what he’s said before; on one hand, you have to see people you love and their children and their grandchildren just -- die, on the other hand you do gain the ability to sort of... distance yourself from all those events, including events from your own life. and that’s what’s the worst, perhaps? being a spectator to your own life? hmm hmm)

theeen you have two questions about fashion since jbj is a fashion designer, and lhk says his favourite outfit is the all-black fit from when he went to the morgue to see the body as well as the green work suit. for his personal fashion, he said he just keeps it simple and neat/fresh, and he pays the most attention to pants, shoes and wristwatches. yeah, i can see that lol;;

chen yihan is smart and dedicated to her work, she laughs easily, is always having fun and cute, etc, etc. aw :’)

then two questions about relationships: with jxy, initially they were just using each other for their own goals, but with time each realized the other’s presence has a healing factor on them. the second question is funny because it states that jbj is 100 years old but he shows his childish side when dealing with lny and is lhk himself more childish or jealous in love? kgjfhkgjfshjkgh THIS QUESTION LMAO and kk says (please hold me) that in terms of persistence he’s a good match for jbj and that sometimes he gets irritated by trivial things. excuse me while i scream

KJGHFJKGHSFKJ HOLD ME EVEN MORE the interviewer says that he does muscle training even when he’s not shooting and does he have any muscles he’s particularly proud of so he’s like if i Must say it then it’s pecs... also, he doesn’t do anything in particular to take care of his hands, but maybe playing the piano has something to do w/ [the way they look]. he says this because the question also mentioned that jpn fans like his hands lol. who doesn’t!! they’re good hands, ok

omg another question is about a personal/life motto and he says that maybe it’s because he’s from the north-eastern part of china (a region that’s お笑いが盛ん or like... has a thriving comedy business?? lol) so ツッコまれるとついついボケてしまう which is like. omg. tsukkomu/bokeru are terms from japanese comedy business, and basically tsukkomi is the serious/strict one who often corrects the boke, and boke is the “idiot” character who often gets things wrong, can’t understand what the other one is saying, etc, etc. and like... yeah... obviously i can’t give examples but pretending to misunderstand what people are saying to turn it into a joke IS a part of kk’s sense of humour lol;;; and his motto is 天馬行、渾身放松, or apparently “free mind/heart, relaxed body” www

another question is about reading! he says he developed a habit of reading in his cql times, and his recommended books are. uh. either the book of changes or something with the same name, and the other is 万寿寺/wanshousi/”wanshou temple”? “a temple of longevity”? by wang xiaobo. from what i understand from the page linked above, there’s some “story in a story” and/or “stories/plotlines happening in different places and different time” stuff going on. interesting!

asked about what he does in his free time he said it’s working out, reading and composing music But what he’d like to do the most is just. laze around on the beach.

lastly, asked about what he wants the japanese fans to notice......... “the men around me. nothing but handsome guys (lol)” HAIKUAN. :’���‘‘‘))) he also said the dialogues have a good feel to them (?) although he’s not sure if they’ll feel the same to a japanese audience. but of course “i’d be happy if you enjoyed the drama and jbj” we do!!! up to a point lol

Ooooo a fresh blog! Heyo there! So, my first request is some head canons, if you write them anyway, for the each of the turtles having a s/o who is usually the purest of beans. Like— she doesn’t get angry, usually shy when meeting new people, very humble, sweet and caring— but for the first time she does it’s like she realizes she’s frustrated and mad about something that happened during the day and it’s the first time she’s expressing it. the turtles notice her come in knowing something is off about her behavior when she’s usually so cheerful. Almost like “Sometimes it just makes me so— it makes me so... so...! Angry!” But she actually gets super surprised with herself realizing she’s actually venting just to say she’s fine in the end after bottling up for so long. The turtles just looking at her and asking if she’s okay 😂 If that makes any sense.. sorry if it doesn’t.

·         Honestly caught off guard when you come in steaming

·         Your calm and sweetness is something he loves and looks forward to – it’s hard being the firm leader in his family when everyone pushes back, so you’re a pleasant break from the arguments and sassy remarks

·         It’s loud in the lair – Raph and Mikey are doing something with a basketball and hula hoop that’s got Raph raging and Mikey screaming, Donnie’s got a power tool going on the truck, and Splinter’s Celine Dion music is blaring to drown it all out while he works on pruning his plants

·         Leo’s up in the concrete rafters with a book, glancing down every other minute to make sure Raph doesn’t kill Mikey

·         When he sets you down in front of a world-weary punching bag, he crosses his arms and waits

·         He stops the bag’s swaying and gestures for you to take a turn

·         Realization dawns in your eyes. You look at your fist and throw a pathetic punch at it. “That’s…for my fifth plant…dying this week?”

·         He almost laughs, but nods encouragement

·         You punch again. “That’s for whoever stole my lunch out of the fridge at work.”

·         And again. “And for those kids who spit on that homeless guy!”

·         And again. “And for Gina’s face when she made fun of my teeth!”

·         Punch after punch, you let out your anger and frustrations that boiled over today

·         Raph’s impressed – not just with how much crap happened to you, but how long you held it in

·         You’re a lot stronger than he gave you credit for

·         He’s also a bit freaked at seeing the rage in your eyes

·         Is that what others see when he comes at them?

·         Yeesh

·         You feel a lot better after the session, if sheepish for letting so much anger show

·         But he brushes it off, “Hey, you see how I am. It don’t bother me none, sweetheart.”

·         The one that takes the longest to realize something’s up

·         He can’t help it! He’s busy making sure his family is safe and hidden! He’s gotta keep the firewall up-to-date from all the new viruses being put out, check the perimeter lasers so that no one sneaks up on them, change the oil in the Turtle Tank, and why is the computer sparking over here, he needs to ask Raph or Leo to come with him to get new parts at the junkyard, but if he –

·         Bumps into you and is like ‘oh. how’d you get in here’

·         Delighted to see you though! It’s like all his worries suddenly vanished when he realized ‘oh yeah! I have a girlfriend!’ and that’s you!

·         Missed you a lot since it’s been a few days since you could visit

·         Starts showing you all of the progress he’s made on certain things, asks you how school’s going, how was that group project you had, did you get that interview for work?

·         It’s your clipped and short answers that finally makes him take a step back and really see how you’re doing

·         You’ve always been enthusiastic about his inventions, even if you don’t completely understand every technical thing he talks about. He thought you guys were past the awkward conversations too.

·         Clipped answers are a big no-no – it makes him shrink inside, like his words and ideas don’t matter

·         Takes a few seconds to look you over – awkward seconds, ones where you look down and away and not at him

·         “Are you alright? Did…something happen?”

·         You take a few deep breaths, trying to calm yourself, but then the words just start pouring out: “I’m sorry, it’s just, I can’t stop thinking about how my supervisors treated me the past few days. They scheduled me to work a triple shift! Without asking me! And I told them I had a date with you, and a million other things to do, but – “

·         You lay it out for him, apologizing every other minute for just putting this on him out of the blue, that you tried really hard to be happy coming to the lair but your boss just text you that you have another shift tonight instead of getting to hang out with Donnie, and –

·         Donnie sits you both down in a couple of chairs, his hands holding your own as you keep talking and venting

·         Rubs circles into your palm, eyes never straying from your own watery and frustrated ones

·         A breath out of the nose is the end to your rant, and you lean to put your head on his shoulder. “I just hate when people spring things on me! I just wanna stay with you and hand you tools to work on stuff.”

·         His heart warms at this, even if he’s sad at how sucky your job is

·         And it gives him an idea

·         He manages to hack into your work’s scheduling system and put your supervisors or fellow employees in your place for the night

·         Even sends out a text masked as your head boss to whoever he put, letting them know they’re on the job and that you had an emergency

·         You’re torn on this – those people had things they had to do too

·         But Donnie reassures you: “If they’re as bad as you say, then getting more people mad at them might just make them change. If not, we at least get to have our date night, right?”

·         Well, when you put it that way…

·         He gets a big, long smooch for pulling it off and for listening to you

Mikey

·         Listen, this boy is intuitive when it comes to emotions.

·         He kinda has to be with the type of older brothers he has lmao

·         Instantly knows something’s up by the sound of your feet coming down the tunnels – heavy, like you want to stomp them but don’t know how

·         He’s geared up though – his baby girl’s coming!

·         Hops off the couch and has the biggest grin for you when you walk in

·         Doesn’t even falter when he sees the glower on your face

·         Says something stupid to test the waters – “Woah, babe, I’m gonna have to call the cops – I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to be as fine as you are!”

·         Not even a smirk.

·         Okay okay. Obvi you’re not in a happy mood.

·         Man, he was hoping for a little blush at least!

·         Takes that heavy bag off your shoulders you’ve been lugging around all day and corrals you back to the couch

·         Grabs some sodas and a few chocolate bars from his hidden stash in the kitchen

·         He knows you need it more than him right now

·         Sits down and calls out to the lair that “we’re making out on the couch!!” Def keeps his family from coming in and interrupting lol

·         Isn’t even phased when you explode about your day – your coworker had it out for you, your professor told the whole class that your paper was what not to do if you wanted a good grade, etc. etc.

·         Mikey accents your day with “No!” and “He didn’t!” and “What a jerk!”

·         It’s cathartic to hear someone agree with you like that

·         He takes you in his arms when the frustrated tears start falling and you start to wind down

·         “It just makes me so angry, and I hate feeling embarrassed and…”

·         Rubs circles on your back to help calm you, just like his family did to him growing up

·         After a minute you’re better, and back to your sweet, happy self, if still a bit stuffy from the tears and snot

·         You’re surprised and apologize for your emotions, but he stops you

·         “Hey, everyone has their bad days! Sometimes you just gotta let it out, y’know?”

·         You give him a big kiss for being so sweet

·         Makes the day a lot better after that with the soda and candy and some video games

·         He’s a good turt <3

As soon as Nico left the locker room, Piper pounced on him. Literally.

He was forced to take a step back and caught her by the shoulders, “What’s up?”

She was practically vibrating with excitement, “Annabeth’s back!”

“Really?”

“Yeah! Come on!” She grabbed his hand and yanked him through the hallways and into the main rink where a crowd of people had formed next to the bleachers.

It was the rest of the team and in the center was Annabeth, a duffle bag slung over one shoulder, looking exhausted as all hell but she was grinning as the team peppered her with questions and play-by-plays of the practices she’d missed.

Piper shouldered them into the center so Nico was directly in front of Annabeth, Piper on one side and Calypso on the other.

“Hey, Nico,” Annabeth said, still grinning. She stepped forward for a hug and he let her, burying his face into her neck and breathing, already feeling the responsibility leaking from his tight shoulders. Annabeth was like a big sister to him, not that he’d ever admit that, but still.

“You want to get out?” Nico whispered into her neck.

“Yes,” She whispered back emphatically. Nico could barely stop himself from laughing but as they pulled apart he saw the genuine relief in her eyes and felt himself worrying. He needed to talk to her, about the team and skating, about Will and of course, if she needed to talk about why she’d been gone for so long, he’d do that too.

Apparently, Calypso recognized that too and, bless her heart, muttered something to Leo, and together they captured the team’s attention, allowing Nico to tug Annabeth away from the crowd and out of the rink. She sighed as soon as they were ejected onto the city streets. Nico stuck an arm out and she smiled and linked their arms.

“Where are you headed?” Nico asked as they walked the short distance to the car garage.

“Oh, probably just my apartment.”

Nico nodded, “I wasn’t sure if you’d be staying with your dad or not.”

She shook her head, “He doesn’t even know I landed yet. I’ll head over in the morning.”

Her voice was stiff and Nico took that as his cue to change the subject. “So I have something to confide in you.”

She perked up almost immediately and he swallowed hard. But she just looked at him with those gray eyes and he reminded himself that this was Annabeth. That she wasn’t going to get angry with him.

At least, he hoped not.

“I’m talking to one of the hockey players,” He said casually.

Her grip on his arm stiffened and he braced himself but she was still just looking at him.

Finally, she grinned, “So when you say ‘talking to’...”

He groaned and felt himself flush, “Oh, shut up! Just friends.”

She hummed and released his arm to dig for her keys in her jacket pocket. “Is he nice?”

“No, he’s a dick,” Nico said sarcastically.

Annabeth rolled her eyes, but she was still smiling. “I don’t know why I even bother.”

“He’s blonde,” Nico offered.

“Oooh,” Annabeth drawled.

He rolled his eyes and she burst out laughing, her voice echoing off the stone walls of the parking garage.

“Is he gay?” Annabeth asked.

Nico nearly flinched and passed it off with another eye roll, “I don’t know, Annie, that’s not something that’s come up in casual conversation.”

She glared at him and Nico, being the mature adult he is, stuck his tongue out at her. She did it back then shook her head. “Too much time with Percy,” She muttered and Nico snorted. She grinned at him.

“So he’s okay?”

That sobered her immediately. “Yeah. Well, as okay as he can be. I’m only here for like two weeks because he insisted I come back, but I’m leaving as soon as possible,” She glanced sideways at him, “Not to leave you alone again, though.”

He shrugged off the flash of selfish hurt he’d felt, “I’m good, Beth.” But he wasn’t good. He’d just told her about Will, and not even the start of the way his stomach would twist when he saw a new text from the hockey player and not the same twist when he panicked. And that also meant his chances of performing solo again were climbing. He didn’t know how to feel about that part.

“Stop that!” She exclaimed, halting once they’d reached her car.

“Get some sleep, Annabeth,” He said genuinely then smirked a little, “It looks like you need it.”

She threw a balled-up receipt she’d found in her bag at him, “Dick!”

Nico nearly leaped out of his skin, spinning to see Persephone in the living room.

She snorted, “Didn’t mean to scare you, sorry. Did practice go well?”

His phone buzzed in his pocket, “Yeah. Annabeth’s back.”

Persephone hummed, reaching up to untwist her hair, sending it cascading down her shoulders, “That’s good. I know you’ve missed her,” She said with a knowing look in her eyes that made him shift uncomfortably.

“Yeah, definitely, um, I’m tired we learned some new moves for Regionals today, so,”

Nico flopped face-down onto his bed with a groan. He knew Persephone though he had a crush on Annabeth; he didn’t blame her, he’d never really made it a point that he didn’t. He wished he could come out to her and his dad, he didn’t really have a reason why he hadn’t besides the weight of anxiety on his lungs.

Will and Lou Ellen had dated for two months a long time ago, and when they were still dating he’d told his mother about her to get her to back off of his personal life a little. Their break up hadn’t had a huge fallout, Lou Ellen had told him through tears in his living room that she was aromantic. They were still friends, had been even before they dated, actually, and talked to each other pretty regularly.

But the problem was, that had been three months ago, and he hadn’t told his mother about their breakup. He knew she’d ask why, and he didn’t want to out Lou Ellen or make her a devil in his mother’s eyes. So he’d procrastinated coming up with a reason until he’d forgotten about it entirely.

And now it had come back to bite him in the ass.

“Yeah we broke up a little while ago,” He forced himself to sound choked up, which wasn’t hard, giving the way his panicked brain was now sprinting in circles on his lungs. “I just didn’t disappoint you.” Probably the most honest thing he’d said in weeks, but that’ll be unpacked later.

“Honey,” She sighed sadly and Will didn’t know whether or not that was on his behalf or hers.

“Well, it’s okay, because I’m dating someone new.”

“Oh?” He could hear her spine straighten. “Is it someone I know?”

No, mom, it’s not one of the country girls I grew up with.

“No,” He winced at how southern he sounded. He’d been talking to his mother for five minutes. “You don’t know him.”

Leo realized exactly how much he sounded like Josh as he said that. He wasn’t fond of that thought at all, so he pushed it away, continuing to bother her instead. Jordon held up a hand, pretending to ignore him, but the smile on her face gave away her true feelings.

CJ sighed, not meeting Danny’s eyes. “I wish they could-“

“I know.”

The two of them never talked about Josh and Donna in specific terms- no one did- but it was on everyone’s mind tonight. Danny was still a reporter, of course- and as much as she hated it, she knew she could never fully trust him. Not right now. But today had proved to her, once again, that he actually cared. And maybe she could let go. It was the Inauguration Ball, after all. She could give him one night.

Danny really had thought that tonight would be the night for his two friends- with the way Josh had been talking about her, it seemed impossible that he hadn’t come to the same conclusion as everyone else.

He smiled thinking about it- “I swear, CJ, the way they were looking at each other-”

CJ’s eyes widened. “Don’t tell me these things! I don’t want to know!”

He laughed, and after a moment, she laughed too. God, he had missed that laugh.  She never looked more radiant, more whole than when she laughed. In the past few days, there hadn’t been much to laugh about, though. At least today was a break- for them, for the President, for Josh and Donna.

“You look beautiful tonight, CJ.”

“Danny-“

“I'm not doing anything! I’m just saying, I think you look beautiful.” Her cheeks heated up, and she smiled.

“Thank you,” she whispered, lightly brushing a hand over his tie.

Danny couldn’t breathe as she touched him, freezing up for a moment. Her touch felt electric, and he didn’t know what he was supposed to do next except ask her to stay there forever. But that wasn’t an option. Right? 

“So,” he said, already preparing for her refusal. “How about that dance?”

CJ paused. Why was she actually considering this? You’re the press secretary, she reminded herself, and he’s a reporter. And-

“CJ, It’s just a dance.”

Damn, he was good. He always knew exactly what she was thinking- not that she necessarily minded.

“Right. Okay. Yes.”

His eyes bugged out, and CJ was brought back to the time she had accepted his invitation for a date- well, a “business dinner.” That had been a good night. She had been too busy to go out, but he hadn’t given up, coming to her office with Chinese food and sitting with her while she worked.

“Wait- really? You’ll dance with me?”

CJ grinned at him, stepping away from the bar counter. She held out a hand, and he clasped it tightly.

“Yes, Fishboy. One dance- don’t make me regret this.” He straightened up, and spun her close to him. Their proximity made her heart start racing. She had missed this, missed him- no one had ever made her feel like this beside him.

They walked onto the dance floor, and CJ had to fight the urge to look around. She knew people were watching, but for once, she really couldn’t care less. 

Danny noticed her expression tighten, but didn't say anything. Instead, he put his hands on her hips and pulled her closer. She felt herself relaxing, and wanted to say something- thank you, I’m sorry, can we do this forever? But she didn’t know how he would respond- well, no. She did know, and that terrified her. 

Danny felt her hands move, circling his neck more firmly. 

“Thanks for the dance,” he whispered into her shoulder. 

CJ shivered, just a little- her height made his positioning a little more intimate than it would be otherwise, but he wasn’t making a big deal out of it. Of course he wasn’t, she thought. It was Danny. 

That thought made her smile- it was Danny, and that’s why she was doing this. That’s why she had let her guard down, fully opening herself up for the first time since- well, since Simon.

“Anytime,” she responded- and to her surprise, she actually meant it.

i cant blame anyone for not really seeing this because their support is. Ok. Its alright. Not amazing, it’s serviceable, better options are out there in fates I'll concede. Corrin has like. At least 3 other love interests who feel more canon LMAO but this isn’t about them

It's more from elsewhere in their characterization that really made me adore them and, as I mentioned in tags, a lot of this comes from how I write them which. Is largely filed under rp stuff right now but more ramble time on how i write them i guess dont forget to mark your free bingo space for throwing out large swaths of fates canon and writing.  Also we're scooting their canon support gently to the side because it’s ok it’s not the most offensive writing this nightmare scrap heap of canon has to offer but a massive missed opportunity.

PART 1- One (1) Corn, With a Side of Emotional Neglect

*makes vague gesture at Disney's Rapunzel* Corrin would have been so much better recieved if the devs just took some notes from you instead of writing such a flat character i swear.

Corrin in particular with how I write her is getting a pretty massive rework in the emotionally stable department because honestly I don’t believe she would be. like. She's not dumb, but she is naive, important distinction, and it ends up coloring her views a lot and I have a ramble on that over here on the inverse graph that is Corrin’s confidence but to dissect where her attitudes came from:

Her family was limited to visits, and she has been directly/implicitly blamed for this for roughly a decade and a half, at least a decade, by not being an insane king's definition of strong enough to be with them. Bad memory makes her frail, swordsmanship isn’t up to par, doesn’t seem to offer much else in terms of skills unlike Xander, a Certified Badass(tm), Magic-oriented Leo and Elise, and Magically gifted but just plain ruthless Camilla. She’s held at arm’s length from her family, and while her siblings may have always loved her and expressed that love as often as they could, they’re not always there or a good yardstick to measure her progress with, and she had to always watch them go and likely wonder when they would come back, or if they even would.

As for our beloved butler and maids, being surrounded by servants was probably her most constant and consistent source of contact, and she does love them, but it can be very easy to wonder if they love her because they do or because it's their job to.

Corrin's faith in everyone around her and unwavering trust is there because any sort of doubt is basically redirected to. her. Because she is the dumbass who's still figuring the world out. She's hyper aware she's still learning and making naive decisions and she overcompensates that with "well what do I know" and not feeling really all that worthy to be Special Protagonist. She doubts herself before almost everything else.

Brief mention of Dragon arc because fates was dumb and neglected an entire arc for dragon feelings beyond chapter 5 and foreshadowing for Dad(tm) but I also write in an arc of the Dragon Is A Metaphor For Loving Yourself Faults And Trauma And All Love Yourself And You Can Control Yourself Dammit.

The way I write Corrin is not nearly as put together and confident as Canon™️ Corrin is, at least for a good chunk of the plot. She fakes it till she makes it because she is a leader and being mopey will not get things done but she’s also very self critical and mopey on the inside and quite paranoid that people don’t actually like being around her and just. ball of stress and anxious hidden under Many a uwu that she doesn’t want to talk about because why should she complain her childhood wasn’t That Bad and if she’s mopey how can she set a good example and people don’t like debbie downers and look its fine its fine lmao

PART 2- Mr. Perfect

As for Mr. Subaki he puts a lot of time and effort into looking perfect. I emphasize that because he may very well have natural talent, but honestly it feels like a large amount of his perfection is just. Stressing himself out by planning for and rehearsing everything possible! God this anxious idiot I love him!!! He's sociable and agreeable, but I think with basically everyone it’s. Skin deep. He’s charismatic Enough, and he digs a bit into the other’s history and personality if he’s interested, but he never really lets the other reciprocate like a magician never revealing his fraudulent secrets.

Biggest problem with that is he can't open up and vent because that is to admit a flaw and no no cant have that we cannot have that so he's just. Not sure who to turn to and has trouble being emotionally honest- even to himself. He just! Doesnt let himself have fun or relax; all perfect all the time baby. There’s basically no one who he could consider a close and trusted friend who can love him flaws and all. The closest would be Sakura and Hana and welp. gotta keep things professional and it’s not like Hana really expresses a sense of understanding and patience when they’re fiercely competitive with each other.

There’s probably a lot of muttering to his pegasus while he’s cleaning her hooves or braiding her mane, or staying up late thinking about how narrowly disaster was and wasn’t avoided that day but he. Also doesn’t really vent and also feels that imposter syndrome of “I’m honestly awful how did I even make it here.”

and it stinks because I think at his core he is a very sweet and caring guy and a massive dork, but he just plops himself on the edge of a pedestal and gives himself no room to be himself or anything less than perfect and is likely on the cusp of impending burnout.

For Subaki, it is plot-irrelevant background character falling in love with the protagonist, which yields the exact sort of pining you’d imagine: man you are super cool and hit all my standards but I’d be dreaming if you felt the same about me. She’s sweet, she takes charge, she can fight for herself well enough, has he mentioned she’s sweet? He can actually relax a bit around her which is really odd but I guess that’s what happens when your personal skill is literally called “Supportive”. Oh yeah and also his Lady’s older sister which oof. Sakura? In law???? Hinoka in law???? Takumi in law?????????? ryoma in law oh gods.

For Corrin, it’s Mr. Prince Charming right there and he’s very nice and Sakura is saying so many nice things about him but wow she’s. a princess from a country that has consistently terrorized his and on top of that might a well have been raised under a rock!!! And she picks up details and nuances in people remarkably well, but she overthinks them. She can pick up that Subaki- while very polite and friendly -isn’t being entirely forthcoming about what he’s thinking or feeling, but she can’t pin down exactly what it is, and makes the educated guess that he's just being nice because she’s Sakura’s sister or something.

And they’re friendly. They help each other out a bit. There’s tension, sure, but no one really comments on it (except for everyone making bets in the bg). They don’t really yield on their internal messes because Corrin knows she’s a leader and can’t really do that and distracts herself with believing in everyone around her, Subaki just flat out would rather do literally anything besides admit he’s messed up anywhere or open up. So feeling are put on a low simmer for awhile.

Of course they fall in love, and it almost gets messed up because when Subaki requests to talk with her in private to confess, she immediately assumes he’s going to tell her that he’s not interested. Her simmer roars into a boil because she’s been under Protagonist Stress ON TOP OF having a crush she’s confident won’t be reciprocated, so she snaps quite a bit because that has all been shoved in a bottle and she just wants to get the mess over with if he’s just going to tell her very nicely that her company is lovely but hes not interested it hurts a lot to think that but its fine you don’t have to settle.

But the thing is being emotionally vulnerable like that, pointing out she’s scared too of always not being enough and living up to expectations, to finally get that off her chest, spurs him into it, too. Because she gets it. She honest to god gets it even if she bought into the lie he’s perfect she understands. Oh, yeah, she also reciprocates feelings that’s really excellent too. Like Subaki probably makes a lot of fuss about a bunch of ultimately meaningless details and having “standards” and yadda yadda gods help whatever poor soul asks him to pull out the list of traits of his ideal partner, but I think at the end of the day if he’s looking for love most of all, like a lot of people he just wants someone who he can just. be himself around. Who likes it when he’s being himself!

And they both learn that yeah maybe they’re more flawed than they’ve been lead to believe, but it starts to not matter at all because they still try really hard and everyone makes mistakes. They’re both here to say it’s ok your best is enough, YOU are enough. They both think they’re amazing regardless of their mistakes and love to see each other smiling and succeeding and just make. a nice little bubble of comfort. They’re stubborn and supportive, they learn how to poke and prod the bad moods away be it making a nice cup of matcha and talking it out or laughing at a tiny, meaningless mistake and repeating it to keep that feeling of dread away. Also they both spoil their partners regardless of who they end up with you can’t @ me on that they both do it which means guess what mega spoil time. And long hair on both just means they can braid each other’s hair no problem... waaaaaa.... Also early rise Subaki and late rise Corrin so there’s always a sleepy fight in the morning because UGH this is early you keep saying i’ll get used to it but im not i need a kiss first if you want me to be up this early. Subaki is better at logic and planning than Corrin, and Corrin keeps things optimistic and has a good gut for when to take an improvised risk. They’re always swapping places on who’s holding the other back from a fight that isn’t worth it because some asshole insulted the other, they mediate each other and will fight anyone who even harms a hair on the other’s head. They give and they give back and they work together perfectly.

And when it comes to the kids that bubble expands and they make sure they all have the tools to just take a deep breath and remember it’s okay Mama and Papa love you so much and you’re going to be amazing no matter what you do. Corrin’s got the best stories to tell and Subaki tucks the blankets in just right. They’re good parents with a lot of patience and plenty of mental health wisdom which is good because, as my mom would say, “bad brain chemistry is my bad”.
