I know I've only ever made posts about Danny spontaneously being shoved into the bnha universe. But what if Aizawa gets chucked into Amity Park? (Gotta be Aizawa. Or at least Aizawa in focus. He's.. kinda the reason I got into bnha in the first place. I love that man)

Just imagine how Aizawa Shouta would deal with that? With a quirk like Erasure.

And he shows up in this world where having powers isn't normal. But there IS a whole entourage of villains who have abilities anyway. Except Erasure doesn't work on them. Unbeknownst to him, because they don't have physical bodies. And isn't that tidbit of information news to him. He was operating on the fatal assumption "ghost" wasn't literal. Themed gang, maybe. Localized slang term for quirk users, at least. He figures it out eventually. Why his quirk hasn't been working on anyone in this world.

Except this one kid.

An entire world mostly devoid of quirks. Save for the "ghosts." Except this one kid. Supposedly a ghost too. But the only one his quirk actually works on. The first time he uses it, Danny just barely makes it out of sight as Fenton before Aizawa can catch up to where he'd downed Phantom. They had a very uncomfortable stare down nonetheless before Danny beat a hasty retreat after pointing the man in the wrong direction. The fact that Fenton and Phantom look so different definitely helps Danny here in the few moments Danny had out of Aizawa's line of sight.

And maybe it works on a corrupt billionaire too. If we involve him. Probably will. But that comes later.

I'm just imagining Aizawa showing up in Amity Park, taking one look at this dumpster fire that's protected solely by an overworked and undertrained vigilante teenager and deciding, fine, different world different rules, two can play that vigilante game.

And then there's just a whole new kind of rivalry between a disapproving dadzawa trying to stop this vigilante kid from getting involved and a VERY irked Danny who's extremely distrusting of any new ghost hunters entering his terf and he decides: fine, two can play the sabotage game.

Aizawa ends up very much haunted by an angry, invisible 14 year old who keeps trying to steal his scarf. And keeps writing "Get a cat, and a hobby" on the walls of his leased apartment.

As soon as he figures out how to get around the man's weird power without giving away his identity.

And on the other hand Danny has no idea what to make of this man who shows up out of the blue. He cant seem to fly. He cant make ectoblasts. But he's demonstrated that he does have at least one power. And Danny doesn't know what to think of that. His only experience with superpowered living people is Vlad. Another halfa. Maybe he even assumes this guy is just a new halfa that's only worked out how to use one.. admittedly devastating ability. One that would be more useful if the man actually cared to use it on the other ghosts. But damn, he really has it out for Danny specifically.

And, yeah, Aizawa has to get some upgrades to his gear before he can do anything really effective once his element of surprise wears off in battle. (Imagine he gets his scarf infused with ectoplasm. It ends up giving off a slight glow.)

Danny and co and the rest of Amity Park are suddenly suddenly faced with a whole new vigilante. A very batman-esque man...hobo, who is like.. the sole competent adult ghost hunter (he's not ghost hunter, damnit, he's a pro) in town.

Aizawa probably ends up becoming a freelance Japanese tutor or smth to help him get established in the dp world while he figures out a way back home. Or maybe he even becomes a self defence teacher which could be funny if Danny's parents decide he needs self defence training because of how often he comes home injured after ghost fights. It would be a chance to meet outside their alter egos. And maybe that's the thread that leads to an identity reveal for both of them.

Maybe Aizawa even starts believing he's in the pre-quirk era. At some point. Maybe before the identity reveal. Or maybe after. Danny's whole "glow in the dark" shtick is at least passably reminiscent of the stories of the "glowing baby" he grew up on. Even if this is.. not at all what he expected. He's not actually from a different world. (Because I'm attached to the thrown-in-a-different-universe trope) But that is the line of thinking he ends up stuck on.

And what is he supposed to think of that? After he's meddled so much in this kid's life already. How much has he already changed about the history of his world?

And he responds by suddenly drawing back, canceling Danny's mentoring, stops getting involved in vigilantism. Just trying to limit his influence in the life of who he thinks is an important historical figure in his time. But of course Vlad ends up getting involved and ruining everyone's day in a way that forces them to fix it and everything else.

TL:DR Aizawa gets thrown in a world where he gets a handicap. He makes the best of it anyway. But he does use his quirk on one very unlucky lottery winner. Danny has a new nemesis who apparently doesn't see him as a nemesis. And Vlad's just pissed he's been demoted to Common Rouge.

     He was fairly laid back as the CEO of Business and Intelligence. Since he didn’t necessarily have a quirk that anybody’d want in battle, he still took on hero work, but his main job was climbing the top of the food chain in Intel and informational trading and that’s exactly what he did. He was the biggest name of the company both for being fairly charismatic but also being a fair leader and his hero work on the field particularly in search and rescue missions. He also had piercings, however he only wore his outer lobe bands when he wasn’t on duty, and he was complete with a tattoo of roses that rose up his neck just a little and was a sort of bicep sleeve. There was really no doubt that he was the best, and he knew it too even if he chose to stay humble.

And him being humble- paired with his amazing good looks- is exactly what you loved about him. He was literally perfect to you. There was only one issue; he hadn’t really noticed you until recent years.

Let’s take it back for a little, shall we? 

The two of you had been in the same class for awhile; since elementary school at least. You were always in his class and he watched him grow up right before your eyes. There wasn’t a time in your life that you hadn’t loved him in all honesty. The way that he was always so selfless, the way that he was intelligent, and quiet, and oh so handsome at all times. That’s exactly how you worked your way into being Sero’s secretary. And you’d started to regret it.

Now, it wasn’t that he was bad to you or anything, actually it was quite the opposite. He was way too good to you, and sometimes you felt as if this was a joke or some sort of dream. You had to see that magnetic smile every single day directed at other people instead of you, you had to listen to him flirt sometimes to get his way, embracing others in those strong arms of his, sit in on presentations in which he makes eye contact with the others just a little longer than yours. You were jealous, and there’s really no denying it, and anybody that didn’t have smoke in their eyes could see it too. Even when he was just sitting there doing work you couldn’t help but to waste away your minutes, hours, days- any amount of time before you were caught- to just stare at him and muse over him.

Hmm, somewhere inbetween?? Like i put myself into the store and alter certain aspects to fit the plot. In BNHA, i have a quirk. In JJK, im possessed by an ancient curse born from the fear of women. In the DC/Batman universe, im a scientist who is close friends with the Penguin. It's still my name and personality for the most part, but i do things that i can't/wouldn't do irl (like hurting ppl or having certain powers). I actually wrote a super long Aizawa x oc that was just a self insert thing, i posted it on AO3 and everything ^^;

Which is to say, with little thought to proper in depth world building.

Particularly egregious though because there was little thought into how “4-ish” is the generalised manifestation period. I mean at least Xmen had it a puberty thing!

Also, while I don’t expect every single writer to think of all the things, there are some very serious repercussions to “quirks at 4”. A) a four year old doesn’t have the required cognisance to fully deal with their quirk, I mean imagine a Telepathic 4 year old, there is no way of instilling a sense of privacy in a child who probably still follows their mama into the toilet, or any of the 4 year old with highly destructive powers.

What about mental illness? Like imagine a person with major depressive disorder who is an empath. Imagine someone with Schizophrenia with telepathy. Someone with Bipolar having a strength, or speed quirk, Or a sadist with fire pow- oh Hello Endeavor

Because as someone with bipolar I think about MI in BNHA a lot. Because things like Schizophrenia only really manifest in a persons 20’s, so if it’s a telepath… who is used to hearing surface level thoughts from others starts hearing Intrusive Thoughts and thinks they are coming from someone else there is huge potential for issues

And like the other anon said, countries may have a way of “dealing” with quirked people as they see fit,

Even Japan has a false dichotomy: you are nothing without your Quirk… but you cannot use your Quirk unless you’re a hero. Even if your Quirk is supremely helpful for everyday things like… clearing Black Ice off of a dangerous road.

Sciences other than mechanical seem to have stagnated since the Dawn of Quirks, and what if Healing Quirked people don’t want to go into medicine which relies heavily on such quirks, or is a haemophiliac or can’t handle wounds?

From a writing standpoint, I'm just going to say that it's absolutely impossible to account for every single issue and/or possibility when world-building. And that sometimes attempting to can actively harm the story you're trying to tell.

Sometimes you leave things vague because it's a helpful tool that might come in handy in the future and it keeps you from writing yourself into too deep of a corner with no way out besides disregarding the rules of the universe you created.

Now when it comes to quirk manifestation it's less you get your quirk at 4 and more by 4 you should have manifested your quirk.

Which are two things that sound similar but are actually different.

And there's a certain level of assumption going into how quirks work on our part as it's generally believed that you adapt at least some degree of protection from your own quirk.

(Dabi is an outlier/extreme example of a young quirk user pushing past physical boundaries and beyond the acceptable threshold of usage that came with his quirk with horrific results)

And while quirks developing from birth to 4 can have massive impacts as you said to issues like future mental health and the like, having quirks develop so early allows individuals to live and grow and develop alongside their ability.

(For example, Bakugou's explosion was shown as notably weaker when he was younger and it grew in power as he aged and trained.)

The alternative to that would be, as you said X-men type activations instead which would involve waking up one morning at 12-14 with the ability to spit acid or suddenly growing frog features or whatever and just generally being forced to undergo a secondary, and much more horrific and dangerous, type of puberty. This would forever alter your previously established relationship with not only your surroundings but your own body. An early activation allows for there to either be no trauma as the person is born with their ability or it gives a much greater chance for trauma to be forgotten/worked through/adapted to/etc.

(When it comes to X-Men it's long been argued on a meta-level that the series is and has always been a metaphor for discrimination, and specifically queerness, and that can often be a thing directly linked to puberty when sexual/gender expression tends to move closer to the forefront of an individual's life)

Now when it comes to quirk usage in-universe it's not as simple as "you can't use your quirk if you're not a hero".

We know only a handful of things about legit quirk law in canon.

We do know that you must be licensed to use your quirk to cause physical harm. We know this for sure because of the Stain Incident.

Removing things like the issue of how the system works since Izuku/Todoroki/Iida get reprimanded for their actions despite it being an emergency and them being interns (because that's a different issue that shows how the heroic training program is flawed etc etc), that's a law that makes sense.

You'd want people to have to be certified to be able to legally use their superpowers in such a violent and public way.

But we also know it's possible to get licensed in other ways outside of heroics since Uraraka talked about wanting to get certified to use her quirk to help her parents before she enrolled in UA. This implies that quirks can be used in careers outside of heroics and medicine, you just have to be certified.

And then we have examples of quirks being used in the privacy of one's home i.e. Inko using her quirk in the kitchen etc etc which just goes to show that it's not like people are hovering over you 24/7 stopping you from using your quirk at all outside of heroics.

Just, in general, the main quirk laws we know about seem to revolve around public quirk usage being generally frowned upon. Meaning that you can't just waltz down the street and shoot off your superpower as you please.

Which would be a realistic set of laws to put into place when it comes to the matter of public safety.

Our main characters, the freshmen. How would you categorize their Talents? Which would be Emitters, Transformationers, and Mutants?

As I like to think, talents are a very different animal from Quirks. Where Quirks alter the body in many ways, Talents alter the user's reality in many different and unpredictable ways. So, I've mostly tried to stray away from neat categorization in the in-universe lore.

That said, I decided to take the two prominent classes and try to figure out which would fit the best based on examples from the BNHA story. And... well, it seems like they ended up fitting pretty well, with only one definite exception and a few murky ones.

BNHA X DP Crossover HCs

After the long wait and finals, here are my ideas for all the quirks/occupations and other concepts I devised for the DP characters in the BNHA universe. This was just for fun and for inspiration towards others interested in this crossover au in general.

Mr. Lancer

Hero name: Mr. Scholastic

Quirk: Bookworm

Involves his iconic usage of literature titles & quotes for swears to become abilities corresponding to the novel’s contents/themes. Course, he is limited to only books he has read and can quote accurately. Additionally, his voice gets very raspy past two or three quotes as well.

Occupation: Homeroom Teacher for Class 1- A; He’s very dedicated to his new students and teaching the fundamentals of being a pro hero and more! Course, I don’t think his chamomile tea with a wedge of lemon is enough to help him relax from his students (*cough* Danny, Tucker and Poindexter) from their antics at times. 

Danny

Hero name: Phantom 

Quirk: Ghost core (Ok, @coffeecakecafe had the best name for this one gotta give credit here)

Able to do anything a ghost is perceived to do. Go through walls, disappear and fly. This is a one of a kind quirk as it was obtained from Danny’s old quirk being altered by a machine his parents made that would repurpose/alter an individual’s quirk based on their past family members' own metahuman genetics.

Danny is doing his best and trying to understand his new quirk without causing too much attention to himself while doing so but it seems like its been doing the opposite as of late. Thankfully, he won’t be doing it alone with all his classmates around to help him!

Sam

Hero Name: Black Dahlia 

Quirk: Overgrown 

Able to create any plant that she knows the biological makeup and content of in almost any environment. However, it is important for her to drink lots of nutrient rich water and take in enough sun if she plans to create larger versions of these plants.

Tucker

Hero name: Tech Master

Quirk: Tech Core

Located on his chest/heart area is a special energy core capable of powering electronics at a rate faster than anything made-man could ever hope to achieve. As a kid, Tucker would tinker away in his family’s garage on a suit that would harness his power to the fullest extent and lead a new era of support tech in the hero world.

Valerie

Hero name: Red Huntress

Quirk: Electromagnetism (Someone I’ve been trying to find their post on my blog had posted this idea and I fell in love with it ever since)

She’s like Static Shock but with a dash of magenta/ruby lasers she can create through focusing her electromagnetism through her finger tips. She is an expert with her quirk and has the best handle of her quirk than most of her peers. She is the most frequent visitor in the support equipment workshop next to Tucker, Poindexter and Danny. It’s how she built the hoverboard she has in the show that utilizes her electromagnetic abilities for both offensive and defensive maneuvers. (Also, I enjoy the idea that Bullet is Val’s uncle on her mom’s side and is her biggest supporter alongside her dad, Damien Gray).

Jazz 

Quirk: Serenity 

Helps calm individuals and give them a sense of safety/security when they’re around her in a 10 feet radius. Though, anyone out of range cannot be affected by her quirk and she needs to be conscious in order to use it.

She planned on becoming a pro hero but felt her powers were best suited for her dream profession as a psychologist. She has used her quirk a lot when Danny was overwhelmed with his studies prior to UA. Course, a phone call and sibling chat over the phone certainly does the job for Danny now when it comes to preparing material for exams. (Course, its up to you guys to decide)

Dash

Hero name: Rager

Quirk: Strength Magnification

Improves his physique and stamina by a large percentage for a set amount of time. Needs to be careful of how much/long he magnifies his body or else his body will become immensely sore. 

Kwan

Hero name: Rallier 

Quirk: Team Rally (50/50)

Able to duplicate himself 3-4 times while being able to power-up allies’ quirks or stamina with a rally chant to help the team. The more duplicates there are the rally effect multiplies/stacks on the individual but it can lead to dangerous outcomes for their quirk output. 

Kwan is the class representative for 1-A, he’s the best at the job and was more than thrilled to be the one leading his class in more ways than one.  

Paulina

Hero name: Enchantress

Quirk: Charm

If the opponent is flustered by her taunts or flirting, their vision will become altered and start seeing things that are not there. It works better on men than women and the opponent can snap out of it with enough willpower or if they’re not interested in her.

Star

Hero name: Ms. Meteorite

Quirk: Comet

Similar to Gran Torino’s Jet quirk except faster and she can create an explosive impact on where she lands. Similar to a meteorite landing on earth, she also learns to use this as a long distance move by punching fast enough as she descends to create wind pressure punches.

Poindexter

Hero name: Tex (like in Tex Avery; Danny gave him the idea!) 

Quirk: Slapstick

His appearance is black and white just like an old timey cartoon character as well as having the durability and cartoon powers of one. However, his quirk can only work as long as what he does with it is funny in the circumstance it’s used for. Sort of like “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” rules in a sense. 

Sidney is part of Class 1-A just saying, I don’t care, this is Poindexter’s time to shine here to be the coolest/funniest person in the class. Also, Tucker’s most loyal friend/tester for new support items. 

Wes Weston

Hero name: Vigilance

Quirk: Deduction

He is able to deduct people’s identities to flaws/weak points for him to use against them and  exploit against problems. 

Class 1-B Representative and the most annoying/terrifying person that Danny has dealt with in his life. He was able to figure out that Danny’s quirk is not his own or more so that it's not natural and takes every opportunity to state this regardless if anyone is listening or not. 

Amber Mclain

Hero Name: Ember

Quirk: Fiery voice (50/50)

Her quirk uses the vibrations in her sining voice to conduct intense heat waves onto opponents or utilize to rumble the structures around here and even put out the flames from her quirk. Its like a combination of Present Mic and Endevours quirk but it leaves her with a strained or inflamed vocal cords with overuse. 

Third year student or an upcoming rock star that has certainly gain huge popularity after her song “Remember” was a nationwide hit amongst the younger generation. She’s striving to be the top hero while making her next hit to become the 1# song on the listings. 

Dani

Hero name: Phantwo (lol jk; unsure what her name would be)

Quirk: Poltergeist 

Similar to Danny’s quirk “Ghost”, except she has the additional ability to melt herself to a slimy puddle and use her ectoplasmic slime to trap or surprise opponents.

Clockwork

Hero Name: Clockwork

Quirk: Time Keeper

Clockwork’s quirk allows him to stop time for 5 to 15 minutes and be able to rewind it in the same amount of time. It can be one to multiple objects as long as he touches them in order to interact with them.

Principle of UA in this au. He’s quite a reserved man but still manages to visit and congregate with students throughout the school during lunch period. 

Flynn Fenton/Flynn Walker

Hero Name: The Green Knight

Quirk: Mineralization 

His quirk allows him to manipulate the minerals and inorganic materials in the atmosphere to create into crystalized constructs that are almost stronger than diamond. Luckily, the crystals have no value so he doesn’t have to worry about that aspect of his quirk. He does have to worry about his skin becoming dried out as a result of his quirk usage. 

Flynn is a third year student that loves to check up on his cousin, Danny, any chance he gets bc of the amount of work he does with his internships.

James Walker (or James W. Hausermann)

Hero name: Warden Wraith

Quirk: Plasma Apparatus

His quirk ionizes the electrolytes in the blood system into plasma. His entire body is composed of plasma giving him his skeletal appearance. He can create plasma chains, teleport from point A to B and more as long as he focuses and has enough energy at use. Course, he can have minor to severe dehydration and imbalance in his electrolyte levels from overuse. 

Occupation: CEO of an infrastructure security company/Provisional License Examiner just like Gang Orca.The ghost prison guards become his backup/helpers for the exam phases. (They’re just trained stuntmen with combat or military experience for the occasion).

Also, I like to think Walker has kids in this au who are in the Class 1-A group; they’re not hard to spot they take after their father with their skeletal complexion. 

Skulker

Villain name: Quirk Hunter

Quirk: Tracker

The moment Skulker makes eye contact with his target he will be able to hunt them down and find them anywhere no matter how good they are at covering their tracks. He can lock on to only one target, but he will be able to know their heart beat, quirk, be able to place a tracking/scent line that only he can see and will lead him to his target’s location. It lasts for over a day or a half.

Occupation: Skulker is known for capturing, info-detailing or “retiring” newcomer pros or specific quirk users for his clients that pay him handsomely for their targets, dead or alive. Thanks to Vlad, Danny was strictly intended to be captured alive by Skulker but sometimes he gets too thrilled by the hunt to not have a memento. Trust me, it's more of a dangerous 

Nicolai Technus 

Villain Name: Technus 

Quirk: Technopathy

A genius in his own right, even if he’s a little crazy, with the best ability possible for a man of science and innovation. As long as he knows the makeup and attributes of the machine, Technus is able to completely repurpose or change a machine’s qualities for offensive and defensive qualities. Whenever that be for a mech suit or hacking a high tech system for entry, he’s able to do it as long as he knows what it is and how it functions. An example is repurposing a slot machine into a submachine gun that shoots coins at the target. 

Vlad Masters

Name: Vlad Plasmius

Quirk: Vampire

Can do anything a vampire can supposedly do. However, he was able to manifest an additional aspect of this quirk which is the ability to copy any quirk users ability. Based on the type of blood he ingests decides the amount of time he can use the copied quirk for.

Occupation: CEO of his own hero firm, he is extremely selective with the interns he has that there is a major waitlist to be even consider for Masters Inc. Course, imagine the surprise Danny must of felt when he received an offer from Vlad right off the bat after the Sports festival. 

Bruce Guiles (Bullet)

Hero Name: Bullet 

Quirk: Sphyraena or Chimera Fish

Able to do anything a barracuda can do or the quirk is a 50/50 mutant quirk in which he has both the traits of a barracuda, Chimaeras and a touch of piranha from his parents being of one of these fish species hence Chimera. Bullet can do anything those fish can do overall but he can’t go too long without hydration from water. Water quality and its oxygen content also affect his abilities by a noticeable percentage but he still remains quite formidable as a quirk user.

Occupation: Captain of a coast guard team, he’s a strict military man with an amazing record of saving people from any disasters both on land and sea. Him and Walker are best buddies ever since they went to school together. 

Vortex

Hero Name: Vortex

Quirk: Storm Warning

Vortex can utilize any variation of a natural disaster depending on the environment he’s in. Hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, you name it he can create it for his use. However, despite his amazing control over his quirk it is still possible for him to create these disasters if he lost control or magnify another pre-existing one if he loses focus. 

Occupation: Storm-chaser/Forecaster; His control and knowledge in combating/predicting these natural disasters has led to him to be part of a storm chasing crew and they’re the best in helping disaster prevention teams evacuate citizens as a result.

Petra Eris

Hero name: Pandora

Quirk: Butterfly Effect

Can manipulate or prevent a chaotic event to happen if she was in proximity and present to prevent it to happen. Or even give a little chaos to the opponent to deal with during battle. 

One of the top ten heroes and most beloved heroes in the country. She is the best strategist in any team and has a way to predict any event before they happen given the necessity of it for her quirk to work in her favor. 

Johnny 

Vigilante name: Johnny 13

Quirk: Unlucky

Johnny manifests his bad luck into a shadow that will latch onto opponents and cause unfortunate events to occur more for that individual as a result. However, the shadow cannot exist in complete sunlight; it can only remain if there are already shadows in his general area or it’s nighttime and its effects are strongest at that time obviously.

Occupation: Johnny is the leader of a biker gang or de-facto leader of said biker gang who loves to raise hell and helping folks that need saving whenever he’s around or is up to the task. Kitty tags along with him to help him out of jams and bc she loves him. :3

Kitty

Vigilante name: Kitty

Quirk: Lovesick

Kitty sends a smooch towards her opponent which if it makes contact causes the individual to have nausea or become disoriented for around 10 minutes. It can also have a chance of lasting longer if the individual was sort of infatuated with her regardless of gender. 

Pariah Dark

Villain name: King Pariah

Quirk: Ultimate Adaptation 

Similar to all for one except with the unpredictability for both the user and opponents. Pariah can manifest any type of quirk needed to defeat anyone that stands in his way both one-on-one and in groups. Course, drawbacks are the learning curve to some of the quirks and that multiple adaptions he utilizes at once will destroy his cells in the process. 

Pariah is a former follower of all for one who had unique quirk that All for one augmented to help him succeed if both Shigaraki and Tomura failed in their own conquest for the world. But now Pariah has his own plans to succeed where they failed and become the leader who shapes a new world order with an iron fist. 

Frederick Kingsmen

Villain/vigilante name: Fright Knight

Quirk: Burning Energy Infusion

Able to form/infuse objects with his own burning energy life force that is capable of burning or slicing through any in his sight. The sweat he gives off is what provides the material needed to ignite his unnatural flames despite it causing his body to overheat still. 

Fright Knight is Pariah’s second-in-command with a loyalty to him as strong as his control over his power. Fright Knight has faced many pro-heros as he carried out the smaller phases of Pariah’s plans and most of them barely came close towards defeating or leaving as much as  scratch on the knight. 

Rodolfo Gonzalo  

Hero name: Wulf

Quirk: Werewolf + Portal creation (50/50?)

Can do anything a werewolf can supposedly do; somehow it allows him to create portals with his claws to locations he has marked with them or visited in the past. 

Wulf was abducted on by Pariah’s forces and sent into the Nomu labs for experimentation to force on another quirk and instill complete allegiance to their cause. Course, Wulf broke free as a result of that new additional quirk allowing him to escape their clutches and his previous one helping him survive the endeavor. However, he lost his memories in the process and could only remember his native language, Spanish, and his hero name Wulf. 

Overgrown

Villain/vigilante Name: Overgrown

Quirk: Plant Manipulation

Can manipulate any pre-existing plant matter or create new vegetation if water and soil is present for the process or he understand the biological makeup of the plant in question. 

Occupation: Pro-hero or eco-terrorist who is tired of humanity from abusing the environment from quirk battles to industries using the land for their own benefits and none others.

Though I know it may not seem like it, I’m actually a woman of few words. I’d experienced it in several forms throughout the years, with the culmination of it all being with the one I lost before his time. By then I had loved and been loved in fullness and in truth, and though I could have stood to have held on to it for many years yet I learned to be content with what I had. It’s not as if I were alone, after all. I had—have—well over a dozen children, grown though they appear to be, to look after and they keep both my heart and hands full. I found my fulfillment in helping them along and watching them work at building lives and relationships of their own. It was a fine trade-off, all things considered, as they got up to more than enough to make living vicariously through them an interesting experience.

I had my love, my family and my friends, but the universe had one last surprise in store for me it seems.

I never expected you to take on such a fundamental roll in my life, and I certainly wasn’t ready for all that you entail. You’re so much in some ways (but never too much, don’t you worry yourself about that), and in others you can be a shrinking violet. It’s an odd, but beautiful dichotomy that you hold within yourself, my dear, and I can’t help but to love you all the more for it. You’ve awakened parts of me that I’d thought long since atrophied, and the feeling is… indescribable, you are indescribable.

24. Do you prefer AUs with the characters, or sticking to the original universe?

Oof, what a tough question! I think it depends on the fandom a bit? Generally, I’m going to say that I prefer canon. Sure, I’m a sucker for the occasional coffee shop or high school/college AU but those have to be really well done to be any good. Usually they’re pretty lackluster. What’s more interesting are really creative AUs where you see the creator putting a lot of thought into what would be different about these characters in different circumstances and digging into that psychology, and being really thoughtful about worldbuilding and parallels.

That said, if I’m into a fandom, then usually part of the reason I’m there is because there’s an awesome canon universe! I think, for BNHA specifically, the canon universe gives so much opportunity for play that it’s really fun. And since this is a writing question, not a reading one, I’ll say that I’ve certainly never had the impulse to write something totally AU for it. However, I am a BIG fan of stories that take place in the same universe but are AU in that there’s something different going on (x Reader, altered backstory, canon divergent, etc) rather than being strictly canon compliant. I still have so many questions about BNHA and feel like the anime, at least, is still so early in the story that I’d struggle to write anything totally canon-compliant, haha. (This is actually the whole reason I’m reading the manga. Oh, and because the spoilers are killing me.)

Tl;dr: AUs have to do more work to sell me on everything, but are amazing when done well; original universe is easier and the only thing I’m interested in writing atm, but not canon compliant.

The Invisible Girl [sonamae]: OK SO it’s Hagakure-centric, with background Hagakure x Shouji and KiriBaku. My favorite part about this is that the romance is important, but not the focus. The focus of this oneshot is on the family she creates with Bakugou, Satou, Todoroki, Kirishima, and Tokoyami. Go read it, it’s great. BIG BROTHER BAKUGOU FTW!!!!!

Ground Zero [sonamae]: Speaking of Big Brother Bakugou, this is the next oneshot in the same series as the above one, but from Bakugou’s pov. Again, the romance is important but not a focus, and that’s so fucking refreshing and I love it so mUCH idk what else to tell you. Just go read these two. The rest of the series isn’t complete, but these two specific fics ARE, hence why they’re in the Complete section.

Lighting The Beacon [M3zzaTh3M3z]: This is one of the first bnha fics I’ve ever read, and I’m so glad this was my introduction to the fandom!! It’s a pretty fluffy oneshot, starting off with Kiri asking Baku out and Baku rejecting him because “who ever heard of a gay hero?” Aizawa hears about that (the basics, no details like names or anything), and things…start to change. Mic says he’s married to a man (its Aizawa), All Might comes out as pan, ace Midnight…and at the end, Bakugou asks Kirishima out very publicly. It’s so near and dear to my heart, and it honestly deserves more attention than it gets.

You’re only relevant until you’re older (they’re gonna talk about you over and over) [futurehearts]: Pro-Heroes Red Riot and Ground Zero are happily married and Baku has a reputation to slowly destroy :D (he’s soft, mainly for his husband, and he knows it…and now so does the rest of the world lmaooo).

Love Notes [PurplePersnickety]: Kirishima gets really, REALLY sappy love notes on his desk for a week or two and works to figure out who it is (spoiler alert, it’s Bakugou being a Soft Bitch). When Kiri asks him about it, he confesses everything and they date in secret for six months before telling the whole class (oneshot).

Sonder [Maplefudge]: I bet this bitch thought she wouldn’t get a shout-out well guess what you write good and there’s nothing you can do about it This is the first work of maple’s I ever read, and it’s perf <3 I’m love. It’s a look at the “totally platonic” (how much sarcasm can I add to two words?) Kiribaku from members of the class, over the course of 13 chapters. It’s full of fluff, useless mutual pining, obliviousness, and “platonic bro kisses”. Read it if you need to scream at some useless gays.

Anger Management [Julietwasanidiot]: The entire fandom is gearing up for S4 by writing hurt/comfort KiriBaku post-raid fics, and I am HERE for it. Because of when it’s set though, there’s going to be spoilers so if you’re anime-only you migt want to steer clear of this one. It’s got an ICONIC rice-and-anger line, though.

Stupid Mistakes [lemxnfox]: Kirishima and Bakugou got in a fight! They fight a lot, but this fight they’ve been fighting for six months and the class is #OverIt. They concoct a plan to lock the two of them in a room and force them to make up– and they DO. Side ShinKami and TodoDeku.

No More Fragments [Ischemia]: Canon-compliant…to a degree. Shinsou takes his place as the Superior Purple in Class A, gets himself a boyfriend (Kaminari) and a squad (the Bakusquad)…and loses it. Or does he???? Canon-typical violence, side Kiribaku, mystery plot.

Caught In My Own Web [anxioussaliorsoldier]: SHINSOU IS IN 1-A!!!!! And he fucks up when trying to use his capture weapon lmao. Kaminari finds him and they recreate the iconic Spider-Man kiss…and then Shinsou passes out from the blood rushing to his head. It’s cute guys.

Be Selfish For Me [A_Reflective_Projection]: WARNING– the entire thing is Aizawa asking 1-A to be careful as pro heroes, by taking them to a hero graveyard. It’s painful. It’s sad (especially when Aizawa brings up a classmate of his who died in their first year as a pro). It ends bittersweet, and there’s some good Dadzawa content in there. The most present ship is Erasermic, and that only really makes an appearance in the last chapter.

Closer [MikeWritesThings]: Fluffy Erasermic, canon universe, where Aizawa starts calling in to Mic’s radio show cuz he misses him. It’s sweet af ❤️❤️

Meaningless Holiday [dysonQueer]: It’s a sweet Valentine’s Day fic, canon-compliant, with established Erasermic for the soul. I highly recommend it if you’re having a rough day and you need some feel-good fluff

Come Back Toe Me [Milligramme]: Aged-up, Pro Hero fic where Kiri has a shit day heroing, but he isn’t physically hurt. Not until he breaks his toe on the coffee table, that is. He can’t stop laughing, and Bakugou can’t stop worrying about his dumbass boyfriend.

Kiss Me Through The Screen [Ischemia]: Aged-up fic with ShinKami as the main focus and some side KiriBaku, but…uh, most of the Bakusquad aren’t full-time Heroes. Kami dropped out of UA completely, and Shinsou never went in the first place. So, Kaminari is working at Jirou’s cafe and works as a SFW camboy at night, while Shinsou is a teacher and watches the stream nightly. Later there’s a plot around a stalker, again please keep yourself safe Pineapple Anon!!

If I Don’t Act… [SilentNorth]: This is gritty and painful, but don’t worry! There’s a happy ending :D (I rarely read/write/recc pure angst, you’re safe here my child). Kiri is a college dropout working two jobs, living with Mina as his roommate, and with a hero complex the size of Texas. Enter art student Bakugou, who can save himself thank you very much. Some mention of depression/attempted suicide, as well as slightly less than canon-typical violence, please keep yourself safe and skip it if that’s going to trigger you, Pineapple Anon.

Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all [theroyalsavage]: A Kiribaku “10 Things I Hate About You” AU where Todoroki asks Kirishima to fake-date Bakugou so he can date Midoriya. Everything is going smoothly until Kirishima accidentally falls in love *gasp*!!

The Skeletons Inside Of Us [firelord_zutara]: Erasermic, quirkless AU where Mic was the lead singer of Aizawa’s favorite local band in college. Aizawa has a crush on him, they lost touch after college, and they didn’t meet again…until their nephews (Aizawa adopted Midoriya, Shinsou is Mic’s sister’s kid) meet and by extension, the uncles. Background ShinKami and KiriBaku, written for EraserMic week (7 chapters).

Life’s a Drag(on) [PurplePersnickety]: FANTASY AU!!! You know, the Fantasy AU from the third ending. But altered, juuuuuust slightly. Bakugou lives in(? ish) a village and helps a dragon when it’s hurt. A day or so later, a (hot) new guy comes to town named Kirishima, and the dragon keeps coming around. Shenaniganery follows. :DDD

Space Dust [PurplePersnickety]: Do you like Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, and/or Men In Black? Then you’re gonna fuckin LOVE this :DDD It’s got half-alien Kirishima, cyborg Bakugou, mention of a larger universe outside of the planet (outside of the oneshot too, lbr). It is a oneshot though, even if it is a long one, with canon/typical violence and mention of kidnapping and child experimentation. Please put your mental health and well-being above everything else and skip it if it’s gonna trigger you!!!

Achromatopsia [PurplePersnickety]: DID SOMEBODY SAY SOULMATE AU???? No? Well hAVE ONE ANYWAY!!! Kiribaku soulmate AU (oneshot), where you only see in one color until you touch your soulmate for the first time. Fun fact, achromatopsia is the complete inability to see any color!! I’m sure that’s not gonna have any bearing on the story whatsoever…

A Cast for your Heart [KTG]: Heads up, this is LONG. 90 chapters, 268k, it’s magic and sex and drAGONS and angst and almost-dying!! Long Time Coming [Madam_Muffins]: I’ve probably recc’ed this before, but I just. I just love this one so much, ok? It’s massive Kiribaku slow burn, outlining what might happen if Bakugou is just a little bit more emotionally constipated. Baku fucks up, gets help, he and Kiri get together (and fuck a little), and there’s elements of the Reincarnation and Fantasy AUs in there towards the end!! Go read it, madammuffins is my amazing tumblr mom and I love her to bits.

It’s canon-compliant, except for that little detail, but she writes it so WELL that now I can’t look at canon!Bakugou without thinking that he’s faceblind. The Right Thing [TuesdayTerrible]: Established Kiribaku where they’re graduated from UA, and living together, and being pro heroes…and then one day Baku finds a little girl who tried to kill herself cuz she was quirkless. Needless to say, this strikes a chord in Bakugou (cuz…yknow, he kinda told Midoriya to kill himself in like episode one and then it was never addressed again). He can’t stop thinking about her, and while we haven’t gotten there YET it looks like it’s gonna end with him and Kirishima adopting her and Bakugou apologizing for the bullshit he put Mido through. There is mention of a suicide attempt (clearly), skip it if that’s gonna trigger you!!!

Hands Off! [PullingAllMighters]: Much like Kiss Me Through The Screen, Hands Off! is a non-canon compliant aged-up AU where not everyone is a full-time hero. Kiri is, Kami and Sero are his sidekicks, Ochako is in a different agency, and everyone else is doing Other Shit. Bakugou hasn’t revealed his full backstory yet, but it looks like he was a Pro Hero until a year or so ago when something bad happened and now he’s got PTSD. His old apartment building burned down so he’s living in Ochako, Momo, Jirou, and Mina’s guesthouse until he finds a job and another place to live. This has a fresh take on the hero system, and I really really enjoy it so far!! There is, however, a fairly detailed scene of Bakugou being triggered so if reading that would trigger you, please don’t!! Keep yourself safe, Pineapple Anon!!! Endgame Kiribaku

Blood of my Hand [PurplePersnickety]: Is it obvious yet that I LOVE purple’s writing??? This, I believe, was the gateway work, and I’ve dived headfirst in and not looked back. Fantasy AU, slowburn Kiribaku, and it’s. I can’t even sum it up. There’s too much. It’s too good. Game of Thrones WISHES it could be what BomH is. There’s mention of slavery and past child abuse, please skip that if it’s going to trigger you!!

A Boy and his Dragon [VanHan]: Oh look, another fantasy AU. Have you figured out that I have a type yet? Kiribaku but the Kiribaku hasn’t really happened yet, cuz Bakugou is a literal child who got kidnapped and is probably gonna get sold. He doesn’t even know Kirishima is Kirishima, he just knows him as the cool dragon in the cage. This one just barely makes the SFW list, because there’s no explicit mention of fucking, but there’s a really really gross pedophile that shows up fairly early on and hasn’t died yet. There’s also graphic depictions of violence in the first chapter, and once you combine those two things I would absolutely understand if you decided to give this one a pass, too.

Everglow [Maplefudge]: ANOTHER fantasy AU?!?! In MY fic recc list?? It’s more likely than you think. This one just started, and it’s got that enemies-to-lovers shit going on. Dragons plus my favorite tropes = FUCK YEAH!!!

Crimson [Crocodillia]: I bet you thought I was done with the fantasy AU reccs, didn’t you? Well, HAVE ANOTHER!!! This one has strong HTTYD vibes, and I’ve literally never seen anyone try that before with these characters!! So far there’s only two chapters, but I am HOOKED and if you like HTTYD…you’re gonna like this, too.

Becoming Human [FoolishFortuna]: Demon!Bakugou becomes Human!Bakugou when he refuses to take a kid’s soul. I think we’re three chapters in and he just got to earth and met Kirishima, as well as a few holy people (Midoriya, Ochako, Iida, and I believe Tetsu). Now he gotta find his daughter and keep her safe. Kiribaku with some fairly graphic descriptions of torture and cannibalism in the second chapter, don’t read it if that’s gonna trigger you!! Also he pretty brutally rips apart the girl’s abusive parents.

Surviving for Second Chances [SilentNorth]: TWEWY Kiribaku AU!!! There’s some differences between the original game and the fic, for pretty obvious reasons (medium, objective, and character differences being a few), but this got me to FINALLY watch a playthrough of the game cuz I’m too broke to go and buy it myself!! Kirishima as Neku and Bakugou as Joshua, plus Mina as Shiki and TodoDeku as Rhyme and Beat. Canon-typical violence, and we just finished up Week 1!!

Love And Other Allergens [thefrailtyofgenius]: A Quirkless AU where Todoroki is a lawyer with a flower shop underneath his apartment. Todo finds out he’s allergic to one of the plants, buys a different bouquet every week instead of, yknow, asking for help like a normal human being (I say, knowing damn well I’d just buy allergy medication and not even try to figure out what I’m allergic TO), and accidentally falls in love with the cute (and absolutely fucking ripped) flower boy (Midoriya lmao). It’s LONG. The TodoDeku is extremely slowburn, and there’s a fuckload of side ships. An incomplete list: Erasermic, Kiribaku, ShinIida (Shinsou and Iida), and MomoJirou. Bonus Endeavor’s Bad Parenting, Midoriya Hisashi’s Bad Parenting, and both of those assholes getting locked up forever :D (I’m so serious about the length tho, it’s like 40 chapters or something).

Mixing Signals [Shippeh]: Kiribaku aged-up, but they’ve tried to date multiple times and every time Bakugou fucked it up. Every time they broke up, they pretended like they’d never tried in the first place (which…oW), but this time. THIS time, Bakugou swears he’s gonna make them work.

Take a Chance On Me [FanficIsMyThing]: The other ABO fic I’ll happily recc. Kiri is an alpha which lets him be a hero, while Baku is an omega so he’s gotta be a vigilante until the laws get changed. They run into each other on patrol a few times, Baku helps Kiri and crew out a few times, and every time Kirishima *mysteriously* fails to catch the vigilante Chemical X. They haven’t actually fucked yet, but there’s been enough sexy times to put this squarely in NSFW territory. And it’s not just sex!! I don’t wanna spoil, but it’s good I swear.

Opposed to the Typical [Heronfem]: A model/fashion designer AU featuring HoH!Bakugou, model!Bakugou and designer!Kirishima, as well as a metric shitload of others. Basically Kiri is an intern with Fatgum who gets called to help another studio with their fitting, gets assigned to Bakugou, figures out he’s HoH and handles it like a champ. Because he does it so well, whenever Bakugou needs to get his measurements taken again, they immediately call for Kirishima. And ofc they gonna fall in love :3c But its more complicated than that, and I don’t wanna give too much away, but make sure that you pay attention to any trigger warnings at the start of the chapters!!!

Consider this: Midoriya Izuku with All-Seeing-Eyes-of-The-Gods from BBB

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s from anime Kekkai Sensen. 

But, like, BNHA is (obviously) not BBB, so no weird demons giving Midoriya the power or other BBB things.

Instead, Izuku is born completely blind. He stays this way up until his 6-7th birthday, so everyone already knows him as “that quirkless and blind kid”. And then, suddenly, he gets the LITERALLY ALL-SEEING eyes, and at first he’s really overwhelmed and is afraid to use them but he gets used to them.

About his abilities: I was thinking something like the original Eyes from BBB but changed a bit to fit into BNHA universe. So Izuku’s got X-ray vision (he sees through walls, doors, clothes, skin and muscles, his own eyelids), can see people’s auras (by that he can sometimes guess their quirks or their emotions), can “share” his field of vision with other people (projects what he sees in other people’s minds and sees through the eyes of others), can either induce hallucinations or cause the victim to see only static. And, also, specific to BNHA, I thought he could see true names of his opponents (like Leo does with Blood Breeds in BBB) and/or where Kurogiri’s portals open to. Also, he sees though illusions and invisibility quirks (so he can see Hagakure and Camie).

Izuku sorta has two mods: one is the “default mode” which doesn’t strain his Eyes at all and allows him to see through obstacles and see auras (note: Izuku always walks around with his eyes closed - that’s when he sees through his eyelids and his vision is completely normal if really good like 11/10, tho he still can see through illusions - the default mode activates when he opens his eyes); the second mode is the “attack mode” which is when he uses his powers on another person deliberately (doesn’t matter if he wants to see their name or mess with their vision).

BTW, when Izu’s using his eyes they look like this

Backlash because of course there is one: his “default mode” doesn’t give him any real backlash exept a REALLY mild headache (but Izu’s so used to it he doesn’t even notice); his “attack mode”, on the other hand... overusing of his quirk results in sever migrane and - in extreme cases - bleeding from his eyes/crying bloody tears. It’s very painful and unpleasant but, given time, the Eyes will regenerate any injuries BUT ONLY if they are self-inflicted (read: from overuse), so it’s still possible to damage them or even gouge out. The severity of damage depends on duration of use and amount of affected people. I don’t want him to have dry eyes like Aizawa tho, bc their quirks are completely different.

And, lastly, the Eyes are a mutant quirk. Which means that Aizawa can’t turn it off, Monoma can’t copy it, All-For-One can’t steal it.

So, how does all this alter the plot? Hell if I know. Actually, I’d be delighted if somebody could write a fic bc I personally can’t write long fics for shit. I do have some ideas tho, if you want them:

when Izu’s quirk firt manifested his eyes went from milky to that bright blue that’s on the pictures above and he very obviously gained perfect eyesight so he’s def not “the blind quirkless kid” anymore

bc of the backlash Izu almost couldn’t use the Eyes. This led to other children thinking that his quirk is just “pretty eyes” or smth. Later, as Izu gradually became more sure in his abilities, they thought it was simple X-ray vision 

so no one actually believed Izu when he insisted that it’s not X-ray vis

this led to other children calling him a liar and an attention-seeker. So, poor Izu still was bullied

about Kacchan: as much as I like him as a character, he’s an asshole. He already was a bit of a jerk before he got his quirk (if I remember correctly he called Izu Deku even back then), and he gradually got more and more jerkish after he got it. don’t try to change my mind, you know it’s true If you think that he won’t be mean to blind Izu you’ve got another thing coming. The way I see it, in BNHA universe quirkless essentially means disabled, and we all know how much shit Bakugou has given Deku for being quirkless in canon. So, Bakugou is Izu’s personal nightmare sorry I don’t make the rules

Izu traines his quirk and by the U.A. entrance exam can use all his mentioned abilities. Does it work on robots? Dunno, I’ll just leave it up to you. In BBB Leo’s Eyes worked on that weird monster/demon/car thingy but, again, I’m still not entirely sure if it was a car shaped like a monster or a monster shaped like a car

probs most important his character changes too: he can see some of the shit that heroes get away with cough Endewhore cough so he doesn’t believe in “ideal infallible heroes”, is disillusioned with the system and wants to change it (his main reason to become a hero), and he doesn’t really see Bakugou as a friend so he’s got a bit more common sense than in canon I guess

also, he knows about All Might’s injury from the start bc he Saw it during All Might’s firt TV appearance after the fight with AFO

first meeting with All Might is v different: Izu can handle the sludge villain by himself thank you very much, and he’s not the same crazy fanboy he used to be

does he get OFA? Up to you, really, it would be interesting to read either way

Izu already has the intelligence and high analytical skills and now he gets All-Seing Eyes on top of that? Run, run as fast as your legs can carry you because this kid is FUCKING TERRIFYING!!!!!!

maybe Nedzu and/or Nighteye become interested in his skills
