mercy // muse
couldn't decide which lyrics worked the best for tintin, so i picked the whole song (there's not a whole lot of verses). free angst, can't stop thinking about this for him
Help me, I've fallen on the inside
I tried to change the game
I tried to infiltrate, but now I'm losing
Men in cloaks always seem to run the show
Save me from the
Ghosts and shadows before they eat my soul
Mercy
Mercy
Show me mercy, from the powers that be
Show me mercy, can someone rescue me?
Absent gods and silent tyranny
We're going under, hypnotized by another puppeteer
And tell me why the men in cloaks always have
To bring me down
Running from the
Ghosts and shadows the world just disavows
Mercy
Mercy
Show me mercy, from the powers that be
Show me mercy, can someone rescue me?
Show me mercy
Show me mercy, please
Help me, I've fallen on the inside
And all the men in cloaks trying to devour my soul
Show me mercy from the powers that be
Show me mercy from the gutless and mean
Show me mercy from the killing machines
Show me mercy, can someone rescue me?

childhood friend!sugu vs childhood friend!toru
YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE .
thank you for saying this anon i’ve been thinking of it a lot actually. i’m morally and legally binded to choose childhood friend!sugu no matter what because he’s literally……. my favorite Ever. and i think the inherent devotion of the childhood friend trope blends soooo well with his natural devotion. his protective urges. etcetc. i have wayyyy too many thoughts about childhood friend!sugu 😭 but it mostly boils down to him wanting to be by your side forever. he wants to make you happy and he wants to protect you and he knows you so well that he doesn’t trust anyone else to love you like he can. he’s selfish and he wants you to lean on him more than he wants anything for himself.
childhood friend!toru though….. i feel like he would be your estranged childhood friend. that makes most sense to me :3 like, you met when you were really really young, and ended up playing together in an empty park. he was a brat, kind of quiet, and you were just sweet, y’know? you were the closest thing to a friend he had as a child. then you ended up moving away, he never got to say goodbye… and you meet again as adults. you don’t remember him — it was just so, so long ago — but he remembers you. he remembers you a little too well.
so now you just kinda have to deal with this tall, handsome, cheery man who keeps talking to you like you’re best friends even though you literally don’t remember him…. he’s sweet though. a little annoying, but sweet. he has a soft spot for you. i think having anything remotely close to a childhood friend makes him feel human in a way he can’t help but crave.
sooooo. overall!!! both are good :3 i will always be a childhood friend!sugu truther before anything else but childhood friend!toru has sm potential..

[ID: an uncoloured drawing for a panel next to the publicized version. They're both from the comic Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #194. In them, Batman is shown from the waist up. He's looking at Jim Gordon, who's off panel, with a penitent expression after being accused of something he secretly did do. He has his palm pressed against his chest and is blocking the bat emblem as his other hand is clasped ontop of it. In the initial drawing, there's a halo floating above his head as well as several tiny hearts mixed in with the lights that surround him. In the publicized panel, the hearts and halo has been removed and two speech bubbles have been added. He's in front of a terra rose background and is starting to say, “Jim, I don't even know what you're...” But Jim cuts him off, saying, “Stop it. I'm tired of this.”
The third photo is a description of the drawing from the artist's (Seth Fisher) website. It reads: This is another page that the DC editors changed: no halos or hearts around Batman, no matter how (disingenuously) contrite he is. In the final edition, the halo and heart in the center bottom frame have been excised.]

TW for talks of SA and abuse
I kinda realised, there is a very high change that Sanji, his brothers and also Rejiu before them were all born out of SA.
We know Judge doesn't respect consent nor people's bodies, and that Sora was submissive and didn't love him. Considering he forced the surgery on her... he might have forced himself on her when it came to needing her to have children
Adding this to the never ending list of reasons to hate Vinsmoke Judge.
Oh, yes, definitely. Honestly, it's not my thing to talk about this because it's a very sensitive topic and I don't want to address it inappropriately accidentally but I believe you're right. It's quite surprising that Sora decided to be with him, even. Like, willingly. Maybe the relationship started well and then the manipulation from Judge came, but having in mind the environment I'm pretty damn sure it was an erranged/forced marriage and Sora did everything in her hand to make it feel like a happy home. Which it wasn't. Never. In any way. But she would never tell Sanji that, of course. It seems to me that Sora didn't want any of that and probably was sexually assaulted by Judge and quite obviously abused too. She just didn't want Sanji to see. And again, this is not a topic I address much, but after reading some stuff about it and actually thinking about it, it wouldn't be surprising at all to me that Sanji had gone through similar stuff regarding SA. There are pretty good fics out there about it that explore Sanji's character really well. I've honestly always considered it a possibility. But anyway-- The point here is that Judge sucks and I hope he dies painfully and rots in hell forever.

not entirely sure how it works but I’ll go ahead and headcanon that Frey and Susurrus are intertwined at the soul now. So what happens to Frey happens to him. So if she dies he goes with her.

Opinions on Dream? :^
SO many feelings about him omgg rant under cut please forgive me
okay so i don't really talk or draw him much cause honestly,,,most of the times i just think he's a bit....boring? or more accurately plain? not in a mean way either but just in a 'fades into the background' type of way like don't get me wrong!! he's a really nice friend to his peers, his feelings about his powers and aura making his relationships harder to navigate and trust along with his whole conflict with nightmare and morality about what's good and bad IS very cool!! and i love it whenever they write him to be complex and not on this black and white mentality or when he's just straight up following along his friends with no free will or with a dubious purpose without ever addressing his issues or feelings! it's just unsatisfying to me :')
or when they're making him the 'naive' and oblivious, (sometimes childish?) character being marked as the obstacle and villain along with the other star sanses from the fic's pov, always talking about doing good things while fighting his brother and not hearing him out about the balance, (and for weak reasons most of the time. like it's been so long and you STILL haven't sat down with him when he's, generally, basically begged you to just have a talk? guys please :'( ) or when they go for the victim sad dream always missing the old nightmare, where corrupted nightmare is the incarnation of evil, with no sympathy or emotion except anger and sadistic glee, killing and hurting everyone and dream's just trying to protect the multiverse and dream's always been in the right. such extremes!!!
LIKE!! i hope i'm not the only one that thinks a 500+ year old should have had enough time to idk. learn things? about people and manipulation and deceit? after knowing what the villagers did to night? about the bad things in the world and how there's a lot of grey areas in life and that he maybe reflected on his past enough to process and ask himself if there should to be a convo to settle his differences with nightmare (and you can make nightmare the stubborn one too! or have them BOTH be petty and imperfect and have some things wrong and some right at the same time like why do i always see the good guy vs bad guy cliché with these two when they're the perfect example of why positivity doesn't have meaning without the negativity!! as long as there's a satisfying evolution or growth that doesn't leave me empty i'm good yknow?)
plus i believe dream really isn't as dumb as people view him. i do get some of you saying he probably can't read or write since that's actually a pretty interesting idea to explore! but in general please let him have emotions other than pure sunshiny happiness or endless sadness like he's gotta have more depth than that! let him make mistakes, have flaws that don't just make him the bad guy that's always in the wrong by default, and be angry or suspicious or jealous or bitter or battling his mental health problems/depression or malicious or smart or witty or mischievous and silly or sarcastic or ANYTHING dude i just want him to be put into different scenarios where he can be serious or lighthearted like it doesn't even have to be long or perfect but make him feel real.
it could definitely be that i don't read or see much art about dream or really look for it hard enough but also i just. i feel bad for even saying this fr and i wanna be honest about why i don't enjoy most stories about him cause he always gets the worst treatment along with ink!!! especially ink omg the poor guy has it the worst i think like wow do they mess him up :'(
always one dimensional in non shippy fics, or too plain or easily replaceable by other, more entertaining people in the significant other's life in most of his ships like man. i have read fics out there that made me genuinely FEEL and root for him and love his character so much it restored all hope for me!!! but i can only name one on top of my head and the others? it's been so long i don't even remember their names i just legit feel terrible cause i love him still and i can't find many headcanons that fit my interpretation of him yknow?
not to say people who write him very happy, mislead or sad are ruining him like that's silly- if i see something i don't like i just. move on bro i wouldn't force people to feel or think the same way i do about him cause anyone can have whatever headcanons they want!!! just talking about what i personally look for in him and why i can't exactly find it since most of the stuff out there just isn't my cup of tea :')
hopefully i didn't set anyone off with this rambling opinionated essay i just pulled hhh xD i know i know he's a popular character and i know a lot of people like dream so *sobs* please please recommend me artists and fics about him that you think is good it's been so looong since i've read or seen anything new that makes me attached to this little guy aughg<33333

i'm kind of amazed how most of the stardew marriage candidates just want you to be their manic pixie dream whatever by agreeing with everything they like and plying them with compliments or praise or whatever (which is fine but a bit. Much) but for shane his romance is just you being there for him while he figures his own shit out... dunno why i never wanted to romance him before he's so good

I was thinking about Denethor and Faramir as I was cleaning and some stuff (as you do), and went to double-check one of Denethor's criticisms of Faramir:
“I know you well. Ever your desire is to appear lordly and generous as a king of old.”
So, Faramir is very much linked to the past—he has dream-visions of the Akallabêth, he often thinks and talks about Númenor/what it means to be Númenórean when the qualities that defined that are largely fading from his culture, he's preoccupied with lore and history, he personally represents an ancient "type" that is vanishing (he describes them as "a springless autumn").
Denethor's criticism, therefore, could be seen as at least somewhat valid in a more general sense. Faramir does value the traditions and stature of the ancient Númenóreans and would genuinely like to have a king again, even if he criticizes the old kings and initially thinks Aragorn in particular sounds kind of sketchy.
For me, there are two questions at play here:
1) Are Faramir's very Númenórean presentation and preoccupations a result of his desire to appear like one, or a more genuine outgrowth of his nature?
2) Denethor does not only say "Númenórean" in this scene. He specifies that Faramir's "lordly and generous" persona is derived from a desire to seem kingly (though it's very similar to Pippin's memory of Boromir as "lordly but kindly"). And, well, does Faramir want to come across as kingly? And if he does, why?
Because there's a potential answer that I doubt would ever have occurred to Denethor, and only just occurred to me.
At that point, Faramir has probably never encountered a literal king and certainly not a Númenórean one. His concept of what an old king was would come from history and cultural/artistic depictions, unless he's had further dreams or visions we don't know about (always a possibility, to be sure). But if he hasn't seen an actual Númenórean king and only knows them through his affinity for history and lore (an affinity shared by Denethor!), and yet this desire is supposed to have shaped his conduct and persona so pervasively, possibly even from childhood—then who formed this distinct, long-standing sense of what a kingly Númenórean is like?
Well:
Denethor was a proud man, tall, valiant, and more kingly than any man that had appeared in Gondor for many lives of men; and he was wise also, and far-sighted.
It is, of course, possible that Faramir actually has no particular desire to appear kingly and is just that way naturally, and Denethor is simply wrong about him. But if there is any man in Gondor likely to register as kingly in Faramir's formative years, it would have been Denethor.
