ho ho ho, classic rock fans! Christmas is coming and so is The Secret Rocker Santa project! if you are looking for an opportunity to make new friends who love classic rock, or just want to make someone happy, this is your chance!

What is Secret Rocker Santa?

Secret Rocker Santa is a tumblr-wide “match-maker” in which you will anonymously send asks to (and hopefully befriend!) a tumblr user who is assigned to you. you will also be assigned to someone else, who will send anonymous asks to you. the event will run from december 1st through december 25th. while this might seem complicated, it’s actually quite simple, and you will only need to answer a minimum of two questions to sign up.

How it works:

you must read these instructions!

the deadline to sign up is november 28th. there are two ways that you can sign up: the first option is to sign up via google forms. the second option is to send me a submission (or an ask) with your completed questionnaire (found here). while the first two questions are required, you can otherwise provide as much or as little information as you want.

please reblog this post! (this isn’t a strict requirement, but it would be greatly appreciated and helps to ensure that enough people will participate!)

your ask box must be open to anyone! this means that anon asks will have to be enabled. if you want, you can wait until the first day of the project (december 1st) to change this setting, but please make sure you remember!

your blog doesn’t have to be classic rock-related, you just need to be a fan. (we will also be using a very broad definition of “classic rock,” so nearly any music from 1950s-1990s counts.)

(those are the main things you need to know, but more details + some helpful tips are below the cut!!)

shortly after signing up you will be assigned a number — you probably won't need it for anything, but it's a backup way for me to keep track of who is who in case we run into any problems :)

during the last days of november, i will be assigning people to their Secret Rocker Santas. you will receive a message from me telling you who you have been assigned to, either in the form of an ask or direct message.

you will start messaging the person assigned to you ANONYMOUSLY on the 1st of december and continue until Christmas (december 25th), which is when you will reveal your identity and (hopefully) have made a new friend!

you can send your partner whatever you want (as long as you do not reveal your identity). your job is to make your partner feel happier! (some ideas: send lyrics, pictures, or facts; play games, chat, and of course do things that are not only associated with classic rock).

be careful - make sure you are messaging your assigned partner anonymously.

please tag messages that you receive from your secret santa and any other related posts as #SRS23, so your santa will be able to find your answers more easily.

EXTRA REMINDERS:

some people might get more than one santa or will be assigned to more than one person, depending on how many people participate and how many suitable matches i have for certain people. if you are certain you will not be able to be a secret santa for two people, please mention this when you submit your form (you can also let me know if you would prefer to be a santa for two or more people! anyone who volunteers for this will get first pick if the need arises)

if you’re not committed to sending asks to your partner and/or responding to your santa at least a few (2-3) times a week, please do not sign up.

while the primary focus of this project is classic rock, any additional interests you list may be used as a secondary way of helping to find a good match for you. with that in mind, don’t hesitate to list any interests and hobbies you might have, whether they relate to classic rock or not! this will especially come in handy if there are many applicants who like a particular band, or if i am having trouble finding a match for you based on your favorite bands.

if your santa has not contacted you in over a week, message me and i will gently remind them or find you another one.

as a general rule, be nice! anyone who is rude to the another participant will be removed from the project.

make sure to answer all of your santa’s messages! you don’t have to answer right away, but don’t ignore them.

please let me know if you experience any problems at all (for example, if i have made a mistake, or you are having problems with either your own santa or the person you are assigned to)

if you are not already following your partner’s blog, you probably shouldn’t do it right away, because they might guess that you are their santa.

it’s useful to have an easy-to-find “about me” page or pinned post so that your santa will have a better chance of finding something to talk to you about!

please try to keep a note of who you’ve been assigned to, as well as your assigned number!

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR URL AT ANY TIME DURING THE PROJECT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. if you don’t let me know about your new URL (or otherwise make it clear that you have moved), i will not be able to assign matches for you.

please be patient! i will assign matches and answer questions as quickly as possible, but please keep in mind that i have other responsibilities too!

you don’t need to be following me, but i will be sharing updates here, so it would be a good idea to at least keep an eye on that page/tag.

please don’t hesitate to participate! this is supposed to be a fun, lighthearted, seasonal activity, and if you do encounter any issues, i will help you :)

What do you mean with Terra/reader/Sunstar? that would be a bunch of chaos (and ig trauma too but shhhh)

Sunstar is by far the only man Terra would ever "willingly" share partners with, likewise for Sunstar.

Terra respects no power than one above his own, he barely respects his own brothers let alone another stranger. And lessers can only dream Sunstar humors a single glance their way, assuming they're worth a damn in the first place.

Both are fiercely possessive but aren't blind to the fact that there would be ill-advised consequences if they tried killing each other. Terra isn't useful to Sunstar dead, and Terra is far weaker than his superior, a fact he is more than aware of. Not to mention Terra looks up to his leader too much to retaliate against him.

There are more pros to keeping the other alive then murdering them out right in a disagreement.

While Terra instinctually doesn't really consider his partner physically and/or emotionally, not at first, Sunstar thinks the exact opposite. His S/O is the only lifeform truly worth a minute of his time in his eccentric eyes. While Sunstar views himself as God and completely expects the Stardroids to address him as such, he himself isn't one of them. Makes it noteworthy just how separate and different they are.

Sunstar couldn't give less of a hoot for life in general, but he can come to care for certain individuals with enough time and effort. As foreign as the emotion is amongst him and fellow subordinates, should Sunstar ever find love, learn to know it for what it is; Sunstar will turn everything upside down to ensure your happiness, Heaven will fall at your feet and density will bend to his fate. You are a favored one of the Gods, if he wants you happy then it will be so. Simple as that. Sunstar will address it as many times as need be, though his soldiers know better than to make their God repeat himself.

Even though Terra is "deader" in another sense, he may come to care. Maybe.

...sort of.

Feeling any sort of emotion tied to a resemblance of humanity turns Terra extremely comfortable, love and romantic relation...it's not something he wants to know nor wishes to own. Unfavorable. Impossible. Pathetic. In the dark empty space of his heart there is no room for such feeble weak things. Connections and emotional attachments go against everything Terra personally believes. It spikes a nerve, a kind of territorial protectiveness of his destructive nature.

How can someone like him, a being whose whole purpose is to bring down entire planets to their knees, ever come to want someone? A Destroyer has no business being in love, making friends, bonding with weak souls.

Sure, he may be possessive of you, but what general isn't of his own soldiers? He doesn't like you, a tool for their plan, a pawn in their game of chess. Terra is disgusted to even be around you, the dirt on the bottom of his shoe. Not worth the spit on the ground. You just provide temporary entertainment. Once they finally grow bored of you it's out to the trashbin, death is a merciful release for lower lifeforms like you. Who is a stain-a stupid mistake upon this universe so rightfully his. What is life to a god?

You have no idea how lucky you are for the Lordship to favor you. You, some random weakling Sunstar picked up on a pitiful whim. It's a professional relationship, and all know to keep fair distance between themselves and their alien rulers.

So don't so much as look at him without his direct permission, follow orders and you may just survive. Maybe. You'll see.

God please do not even mildly suggest Terra loves you, not to his face or in his hearing vicinity. Thats a very fast, painful way to lose your head.

something about Dracula Daily that can’t leave my mind this year is how much i remember when it started last year, there were so many people saying stuff like “you all are getting into it right now while it’s new and everything and you’re making it trending, but you’ll see everyone is going to drop it eventually, none of you have this commitment for so many months”

and while people did drop out, obviously, the activity of this little “book club”, of the people who didn’t drop out, still made it trend up until the very end, there were enough people who were still motivated enough to read this book in this format that it carried on all the way to November

and now it’s starting again. now people who were sad they didn’t jump on the bandwagon last year AND people who loved the ride so much last year they’re participating again (and it being kept spicy thanks to the Re:Dracula podcast) are STILL participating to this tumblr bookclub enough to make it trend.

There were so many messages about how “you’ll see you’ll get tired of it so quickly”, and yet people made it a yearly commitment

Oh, this is actually so sweet! I never thought I'd receive any sort of apology, so thank you for that. You're adorable (if you allow me the compliment)!

Anyway, we're at about 14-15K notes now, so as for being overwhelmed by this post, I think I passed the mark a long time ago 🤣 (luckily I had already muted the notifications at the 100th note).

If anything, you really shouldn't worry. Your comment was one of those that made me smile (because yes, I read them all). As I said in my own reblog, way, WAY TOO many people get their references wrong because they confuse certain terms or mistakenly think a character is a hero when they aren't. Being the protagonist of a story does not mean being its hero too (if indeed there is any hero in said story)…

In short, all that to say that I absolutely do not blame you for commenting, in fact, I don't blame anyone. All this makes me laugh more than anything else and I'm happy to trigger so much enthusiasm. That's also the very principle of Tumblr, so I would be wrong to complain about it. Besides, if it starts to become too much, I can always turn off reblogs after all. 😉
