@marshymashers hope it's okay to respond to you in a post, my answer was getting too long, so here we are. :)

First off, Tubbo isn't autistic. He has stated on multiple occasions [clip] [clip] that he isn't and it is none of our business to question him or diagnose him. That is incredibly disrespectful to Tubbo and anyone actually diagnosed with autism. He has stated that all the way back in 2022 that he is not, so please refrain from going around diagnosing people in real life and spreading false information. It is none of our business what diagnosis someone does or does not have unless they want to come forward and tell us.

Yes, Tubbo is dyslexic, as am I, which does mean he is neurodivergent, however dyslexia and autism are not the same.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): "Autism spectrum disorder is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave." [link]

According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NIH): "Some of the most common learning disabilities are the following: Dyslexia. People with dyslexia have problems with reading words accurately and with ease (sometimes called “fluency”) and may have a hard time spelling, understanding sentences, and recognizing words they already know." In my post, notice I am not talking about neurodivergence as a whole, but specifically autism and the effect it has on communication and behavior. I also did not and have not said that autism excuses behavior nor is any type of shield to be used to paint Dream as innocent. Again, my point here was not about the wrongdoings, but about the communication I have seen over the past few days that speaks to a pattern that I have experienced over and over for 20 years that only after my diagnosis and people willing to hear me out as a result has subsided. I am talking about a 3 hour stream where Tubbo and Dream repeated the same things to each other over and over and couldn't seem to understand each other no matter how many times they said it. That is what I am talking about. Because I believe not that autism should be used as a shield but as a lens to view the situation more clearly.

All I'm saying is if people went into the discussion with the mindset that this could be a moment of autism misunderstanding not malicious or manipulative intent, then it would be more productive. Instead over and over the assumption is that Dream has ill intent so everything that is rumored and hinted at or said is viewed under that lens.

For example, it is a very common characteristic of an autistic person (or person with adhd) to mix up names. So, on one hand, people could see Dream calling Tubbo "Tommy" multiple times in that stream as Dream not seeing them as separate people and only seeing Tubbo as Tommy's best friend, and using Tubbo as a way to talk to Tommy, or whatever. But in reality, I can say with absolute certainty that Dream just screwed up the names on accident, as is common place for autistic people. There was no ill intent behind it in the slightest, it was simply an accident. That's all. Do you see the difference? By constantly viewing Dream under a lens of malicious intention we are mistaking what could just be a more innocent moment of autistic difference for wrongdoing. And all I'm saying is that until people give Dream the benefit of the doubt or grace that it could be an autism miscommunication, things will never resolve or change.

And yes, execution is at the end of the day the result and it doesn't matter whether you meant to hurt someone or not, you still did. But knowing intention is the difference between Dream being an imperfect autistic guy versus a movie villain. And whether rumors about him should be taken at face value to be true or whether we should give Dream the benefit of the doubt first.

In addition, if we don't take into consideration that Dream sees a situation differently because he's autistic and therefore an explanation of his wrongdoing may not make sense to him, then we are going to just assume he isn't taking accountabilty when in fact, he really just doesn't understand. In the same way, that Tubbo doesn't understand his reasoning.

For example, with the perception that Dream and his friends are misongynistic and sexist:

Tubbo's reasoning:

I don't think Dream is trying to dodge accountability, because (unlike some creators) over and over we have seen him own up, apologize and admit he was wrong or out of line and try to make things right in a reasonable manner. He has proven that he can and does take accountability, in this instance he just simply doesn't see why he needs to as he doesn't follow Tubbo's train of thought and reaches a different conclusion, in the same way Tubbo isn't following Dream's train of thought... anyways I really hope that makes sense or clears things up for at least someone lol. :)

The ignited torches set a cozy atmosphere into the weary inn, the instruments being strung by performers and high spirits of the natlanese only made it more comforting. It was a cold night out, and you had been invited earlier in the day to a party to celebrate the victory of Natlan over the abyss, a week after the intense battle.

Mualani was the one who sent you the invitation, giving another one to kinich when your group were lounging together. kachina threw a small tantrum, whining: “why can’t I go?” making mualani sigh, patting the small child on the head, “sorry kachina, it’s strictly an adult party. And i mean it! I really can’t sneak you in this time.” “I can’t believe they’d send a kid to war, but not to a grown up party.”

Mualani mentioned there would be alcohol, which made your eyes immediately dart to kinich, your close friend along with the other two. You knew he absolutely despised alcohol and he didn’t want to be anywhere near it, given his past surrounding the vice. You noticed how his shoulders had slightly tensed, only to slowly relax again. 

“So? Are you guys going~?” mualani coed, trying to convince the both of you to attend.

“I dont know.. I don’t think it’d be fair if only the both of us will-”

“I’ll be there.” You and mualani’s jaw immediately hang, looking at the stone-cold kinich absolutely bewildered. You quickly composed yourself as kinich raised his brow at you, almost saying ‘do you want me to change my mind?’ with his expression alone.

“A-Alright. We’ll be there.”

It was supposed to be a calm party, with only a few drinks. 

You only indulged in a glass or two, to join in on the festivities and to really be in the spirits of the party. You were barely tipsy, just a bit flushed with slightly fuzzy thoughts.

Mualani had almost gulped down 4 bottles of beer on her own, thinking and speaking had become one action to her. But that was normal. Mualani was known as the party girl anyway, it was her who carried the mood and laughter, even when she wasn’t making sense. What wasn’t normal, was when kinich decided to become drunk too.

“You.. are not the hydro archon. Stop.. *hic* disrespecting Fontainians.” He mumbled grumpily, slamming his glass onto the wood table with a thud. It was a rare sight; Kinich with his hair a little messier, with rosy cheeks and sleepy eyes. You felt your heart beating a little harder at the sight.

You knew you liked kinich, but there was never a perfect opportunity to confess it. And in the end, you had just decided to keep all the sappy feelings to yourself, not wanting to ruin the perfect friendship the both of you shared.

It caught everyone off guard, when kinich had asked for a taller glass of cold beer after the initial toast. Then he ordered another one, then another.. Then some more. 

“But I am! It came to me in a dream!” Mualani continued crying, drunk-stupid tears flowing down her face, frantically turning to him.

“Well i dreamt that i had normal friends, do you think i do?” he spat bitterly, looking at her with narrowed eyes. Kinich was a bit meaner while he was drunk, but he didn’t mean it. 

Again, It was supposed to be a calm party, with only a few drinks. 

But mualani started trying to turn one of the tables into a surfboard, citlali encouraged her behavior and was even trying to show her ‘how to do it properly’, chasca was nowhere to be found, and kinich was about to release ajaw. The atmosphere was still borderline calm, but if the circus continued to unfold you knew it wouldn’t end well.

You quickly grabbed kinich’s wrist before he could do anything, and suggested a walk. “We do not need ajaw making things worse. Let’s go take a breather.” Kinich’s eyes seemed to fill with some sort of determination for a second, before going back to being expressionless. He took one last bottle of beer with him, and followed your steps.

You brought him out of the weary inn, the cold atmosphere stinging your skin for a moment— It was a beautiful night. The moon was suspended high into the sky, illuminating in its beautiful full circle. with only a few clouds around. It was the perfect night to greet after a party. You walked with kinich out of the stadium, following a random path of pavement.

“I didn’t expect you’d want to get drunk tonight kinich.” You looked at him with a small smile, and admired the new side of him no one really knew.

“Do I always come off boring and lame to you?—” he sighed, bringing the bottle close and popping the cork off with his fingers easily. A subtle flex of his strength. “—I just.. wanted to try something different.” he said, picking his words carefully.

Something about kinich was different.

“Are you alright? You seem.. A little out of it.” you mumbled. He looked like he was avoiding something, or his head was filled with thoughts he so badly wanted to address. His breathing was heavier, his hands were trying to find purpose, and he avoided your eyes. 

“I-i’m fine. Just drunk. What’s the big deal?” he mumbled, still apprehensive and shuffled his steps. “..Just drunk, nothing more. Nothing less. Not hiding anything. Hiding nothing at all.”

“Okay okay. Fine.” 

You decided to fall silent, and let your eyes linger in the nature around you; Your heart ached a little. The trees slightly swayed to faint music, chatter, and crickets. The stars twinkled high above your heads and it was almost the perfect night. One more thing was missing: Kinich, but sober. 

in your mind, the night would've been perfect, if kinich loved you too.

“I can do this.” you turned your head to the dark-haired boozer next to you talking to himself, only to see him drinking the large bottle whole. “ki-kinich! slow down!” You tried to snatch the vessel out of his grasp, but he only turned his head until it quickly ran half-empty, a loud gulp coming from his throat.

He stopped in his tracks and brought the bottle off of his mouth, and wiped the extra carbonation off of his shiny lips and let out a hiccup before meeting your eyes.

“Y/n. I like you.” 

“Huh?”

“I like you. Like.. the romantic kind of like. Not the friend kind of like, I mean that I really want to be your boyfriend, kind of like.”

Kinich was a lot more talkative while he was drunk, but you prayed he wasn't a joker too.

Your mind fell silent, running out of words to say. You could suddenly hear your heart beat in your ears, and feel like the world shrunk around the both of you. ‘he's just drunk-'

“And before you say anything.. No. it’s not *hic* the beer. It’s not the alcohol. In fact, i-it’s the beer that’s helping me say everything right now. And if you decide to reject me right now, it’s *hic* also what’s going to make me forget this i-in the morning. Which is why i’m *hic*  drinking so m-much.”

He looked so serious, you knew he truly meant his words. His deep emerald eyes stared right into your soul, you almost felt violated. A deep heat rushed to your face, but you were still out of words.

You tried to speak. “B-but.. How? I mean. You never seemed to take interest in me. I thought-”

Kinich quickly takes the bottle back to lips, drinking down the rest and tossing the bottle to the side, burying it into the tall grass. He breathes out a ‘ha!’ sound before his liquid courage started speaking for him again:

“Never took interest in you!? All I ever do is stare at you, *hic* and listen to your stories, and br-briing you fruit, and help you whenever *hic* you break something! All free of charge! And I am a man of mora! Its literally my ancient name!” he whined; it was so unlike him. He was always so composed, mature. He had transformed into a whiny child throwing a fit in 5 bottles of alcohol.

“I’ve always wanted to tell you, but it was you who never seemed interested.” tears started pooling in his lower eyelids, and you feel a sense of panic combining into the butterflies causing a frenzy inside of you.

“Y-you always seemed to *hic* stiff up when i-i tried to compliment you, or you’d always go to other people when you wanted to *hic* ask for an opinion on how you looked or what you should wear. I have opinions too!” tears started streaming down his face. You quickly take his arm and put it over your shoulders, supporting him before he’d drop face-down into the dirt.

“Okay okay! I’m sorry i never asked for your opinion!”

“A-and you always gave a forehead kiss goodnight to kachina and mualani during sleepovers. Why did i never get one!”

“B-because i thought you didn’t want one!”

“Well I did! I really, *hic* really did!” 

“okay i’m sorry please stop crying now!” your free hand reaches out to wipe a tear off of his heated face, before your lips planted a quick kiss on his skin. “Can that make up for it for now?”

His cheeks get impossibly rosier, and he thinks to himself, before humming. “...mhm.” his tears slowly coming to a stop, until he's just snifling.

an awkward silence fell between the both of you, as you continued walking down the path. your face still hot, your trying to piece every memory of kinich and you together, trying to see a different angle where he was trying to show you his affections.

“Wait..” his eyes look away from you, and its almost like he tried to piece together a jigsaw puzzle in his head. Like a lightbulb had turned on, he turned back to you with his eyes livelier than they’ve ever been before, a sparkle appearing back into his gradient eyes.

“So do you like me back?” he mumbled meekly, like he tried to hide while asking.

“I do. I really, really do.”

-might be controversial, but i feel like he likes loud, emotional people. he likes when you tell him exactly how youre feeling, and he loves when you laugh loudly in public, throwing your head back as you clutch your stomach at whatever stupid thing polnareff said. he adores when you call him out for being a hypocrite. 'why should i be the only one who says what im feeling? tell me what you want too, jotaro!' youd complain, and he'd huff, saying 'im fine' but hes not really lying. he's perfectly okay with this arrangement. you telling him what you want, and him doing it for you without question. as he matures, he begins to realize how frustrating that must be for you.

rohan-

-although he sees you as his perfect muse, he absolutely will not use heavens door on you after you begin dating. he did when you first met, of course. he does to most people. but after reading it, and falling in love, he vowed he wouldn't mess with your inner most thoughts and feelings (how very thoughtful…/s). he hasn't written anything in, either. he trusts you wont attack him. if he wants to know whats going on in that beautiful brain of yours, he very bluntly demands to know. but its cute the way he does it, pouting, arms crossed, begging to know whats gotten you all moody. hes cute.

Time:

It was always hard to tell if the Old man was tired as he seemed to be always absolutely exhausted. Which was fair enough since he was dubbed the dad friend in the group thus making him the main person to go to for everything. It’s a wonder how he hasn’t just slept for 7 more years yet.

Still the Hero of Time was probably 3 days in without sleep and thats what you observed. Granted you should have stopped him by day 2. But you weren’t sure if he slept on the days you seen him take first shift and wake up with him being on last shift.

The other boy’s notice it too and while they all appreciate the extra sleep it’s unfair for Time. Warriors is typically the only one that speaks up about it since he isn’t phased by the Older Link’s tough exterior. While it would be embarrassing in hindsight you had to drag Warriors aside to push for you and Time to be in the same room. “I have a plan” is what you tell the captain not letting him know that you in fact, dont have a plan.

Truly the plan is fist fight the old man until he actually sleeps, or lecture him whatever you feel like. At least you will be here in town for a few days to gather supplies and information. So you can at least fix Time’s sleep schedule.

You’re plotting came to an extreme halt as you step into a room with one bed. “This can work.” You say out loud as you dropped your stuff in a corner of the room. “We can share the bed.” It’s not even up for debate at this point.

“Can we?” Time asks as he closes the door “wouldn’t that be uncomfortable?”

“Uncomfortable?” That wouldn’t be the word you would use. “Nah. Unless it makes you uncomfortable. Then I can take the floor.”

The hero gives you a look, one to even dare you to say that again. “If you don’t mind, then I don’t see why fight over it.”

“It I am being real.” You stand up and stretched “you do need it more.” It has been decided. You are lecturing him. “When is the last time you slept a full 8 hours? Heck 6 hours I would accept.”

An eyebrow was raised as he heads inside “I have been fine with the sleep I’ve been getting.” He takes his armor off putting each piece down carefully before finally sitting on the bed. He pats the spot next to him.

You follow his lead as you prepare a long argument. “Ah, yes the zero hou- Ack!” What you didn’t expect was Time to drag you into his lap and lay down.

Your face exploded in a blush as you were now basically his teddy bear. “Don’t you think I haven’t noticed you also have trouble sleeping.” He whispered as he was already in the process of wrapping the both of you in the blankets. “Let’s take a nap for now…”

Twilight:

Warriors:

Probably the worst for comfort but I dont think shes terrible. So when you turn up at her door late one night she of course let's you in and snatch her bed. Even she can agree that Caines most recent IHA was a little on the intense side. Rubs your back until you fall asleep, and tries to make you feel less scared and alone by letting you know you werent the only one scared

Probably one of the best when it comes to comforting you! Gives you one of her softest blankets (she makes her own blankets!) As well as making sure your stuffed animal is in the bed

Makes it a point to tuck you and your plushie in to "not let the bedbugs bite". Runs her hands through your hair. Very good for any headaches you may have gotten from crying

Tells you nice stories until you fall asleep

I think, similar to zooble, once he gets over the fact he was suddenly awoken he would be.... okay at comforting. Hes more eager to get back to sleep so he may be a little pushy in regards to getting you back to sleep. Kind of comes across as him dismissing your fears. Awkward back patting to try to get you to calm down

KINGER:

I mentioned somewhere, I think in a cuddling hc... somewhere.. that kinger would put himself beteeen you and the door, effectively working as a barrier of sorts to protect you. That still stands here, even in a platinic/familial sense. Gets very into about how hes going to stand guard over you for the night while building a pillow fort around the two of you. Let's you snuggle into his robe (very soft and warm) while telling you stories he came up with... I think he would try to undo any fear you may feel around caine, since I personally think kinger is. Just used to caine. No point in being afraid of someone who could have hurt you at any time but hasnt done so... funny coming from the paranoid man

Ragatha would do the same, with the caine-fear thing

ZOOBLE:

Oddly enough they're pretty solid at comforting you! Once they get past the fact they were awaken in the middle of the night they pull you into bed. I think zooble would have fairy lights in their room, or the LED lights that you string up on your walls. Usually they have them in one color but to make you feel better they have them slowly changing into different colors. Very calming, I think. Quietly mutters that it's okay to be scared sometimes. I dont know I'm just soft for gentle older sibling zooble... offers to stay awake to keep watch over you

GANGLE:

Let's you fiddle with her ribbon, maybe

Like you know how sometimes people let another person fiddle with their hands and fingers? I think that's what it would be like for gangle

carrot/wedding cake, i DEF see what ur going for here. i can see Wedding Cake going above and beyond by arranging for only the Best Carrots to be used in the bride's wedding cake, so of course before she contacts any bakeries, she goes and finds out who the best carrot farmer in the world is. she meets Carrot, explains what she's going for, and Carrot is so excited about this bride wanting a carrot cake for their wedding that she just hits it off instantly with Wedding Cake ughhh. they recognize each other's passion for what they do ❤️

burnt cheese/clover... idk why, but i was instantly struck with like, an image of Burnt Cheese laying his head on Clover's lap while Clover tells him a story. sleepy dogboy having his hair pet and played with while Clover talks about all these wonderful adventures and stories of places out in the world... i think his jackals would like Clover too, so just imagine two big ol puppies snuggled up on either side of Clover as well

blackberry/kouign-amann, holy shit. this is just me and my wife. pastel pink paladin princess and purple goth maid ghost medium. their aesthetics are so cute together??? i have NO idea how they'd meet, but i am so on board for opposites attract and i think Kouign-Amann could be a big ol lesbian about how pretty and stern Blackberry is... i think she could get Blackberry to smile and maybe even laugh by trying to impress her with her paladin duties, like... she's just so charming, Blackberry can't help but be amused

cream unicorn/licorice, ill be honest i didnt finish last cookie standing and i dont remember much of it, but from what i know of these two, Cream Unicorn sees the good in everybody and Licorice has a lot of secrets and an inferiority complex. i think if anybody could get Licorice to open up and start feeling better about himself as a person, it'd probably be Cream Unicorn - i think they'd be able to encourage him to try his hand at pursuing magic academically, the way he wanted to originally. they'd be his biggest supporter... i think they'd be good for him

black raisin/clover, ohhh this could be cute as hell. they both love birds, and like, have you seen the way Clover attracts and interacts with the blueberry birds in his little decor? im imagining Clover finding a lost little raisin crow one day and helping it back to Black Raisin, and she's so thankful that her crow is okay... the crow telling her also how nice Clover was to it, so she just instantly trusts that Clover is a good guy and gets along with him... another thing to consider maybe is if you headcanon that they can both speak to birds maybe. they could def bond over that

black sapphire/crème brûlée, sounds SO interesting. i know Black Sapphire is a radio host, but i can 100% see him as a singer too. he takes very good care of his voice! i could see him needing a pianist to accompany him for a performance of some kind and meeting Crème Brûlée that way. they both take their performances VERY seriously, and while i could see some early tension between them (mostly from Crème Brûlée, who isn't quite sure what to make of this flamboyant performer and thinks he's probably some big-talking amateur who doesn't know what real musicality is), i think ultimately they end up really admiring the skill each other has.

black lemonade/street urchin, yes. Street Urchin definitely listens to SparkL and i think she really resonates with a lot of Black Lemonade's songs. i also kind of think it'd just be really funny if she had no idea what Black Lemonade looked like or what her name is, so she ends up meeting her favorite singer and becoming friends/flirting with her without even knowing that's who she is. i think Black Lemonade would see Street Urchin's bike and think that it's one of the coolest fucking things ever, holy shit, and they'd meet from that. they like each other's styles and think the other is really. really. really hot. (and when Street Urchin does find out who Black Lemonade is, she doesn't let it get in the way at all. punk girlfriends aughhhh).

black raisin/linzer, interesting! i'll admit i haven't read much agatha christie and i'm unfamiliar with miss marple, so im gonna say that Black Raisin probably has a lot of stories to tell, and Linzer loves a good source to use for inspiration. i think they'd meet when Linzer is probably poking around someplace she's not supposed to be in search of her next book inspiration, and Black Raisin happens to be on guard for whatever it is. Linzer thinks her crows are fascinating, and that's all it takes to get Black Raisin talking lmao. i think Linzer convinces her to meet up the next day for drinks or something so they can talk properly, and Black Raisin's so intrigued by this strange woman that she agrees.

clover/rockstar, another musician duo!!! their styles of music are so VASTLY different, but i think they'd have impromptu jam sessions that end up sounding surprisingly nice? (and by jam sessions, i mean Clover starts plucking out a melody he was thinking of, and Rockstar instantly jumps in on soft harmony with his guitar or starts humming along, making up words as he goes). Rockstar just feels like the type of musician to be able to adapt to any style of music he wants. he admires Clover's free spirit as a bard, and Clover admires Rockstar's tenacity; he's almost like the heroes Clover sings about, and he's clearly seen a lot of the world on his world tours. maybe it's Clover's turn to be told some stories, you know?

Im a 1st year (high school). after winter break Im gonna be a 2nd year and.... I just don't know what to do.

There is literally nothing im good at. i didnt know that was possible. I'm not good at studying, i can't draw, i can't play an instrument, i can't make friends, i can't play any sports, i can't play games, i can't write essays, i'm not funny, i'm not patient.... i'm lazy. i don't know, literally, there's nothing i'm good at. Not even trivial things. Not even like checkers, or dodgeball, or smiling, or talking quickly, or tricking people.

I didn't know it was possible, but here I am. I'm not even healthy; my own fault, with some help from my genes. I cant stay up the night, i sleep like 8 hours and am still sleepy, i dont like eating so im... not underweight, but close. i have no muscle. but i have no fat so i can't skip meals and be fine, if i skip two meals ill become so weak i can barely stand, it sucks.

I tried to make a list once: all the things im good at. squeezed my brain for any niche thing. heres what i came up with:

I'm decent at english. I don't smoke or do drugs or gamble. I'm not a big money spender. sometimes i do the dishes.

The bare minimum, less even.

anyways, i have 2 months of winter break. in that time i wanna learn to cook, at least. and earn money. How can I earn money? and exercise just enough to go back into the 'normal muscle range'. I don't think i can learn to study well enough to get into college in that time. So something, anything. Anything to stay alive later without being a burden on my parents.

Hello anon, before I begin, thank you for trusting me enough to hear you out. I'm here for you anytime you may need to rant so don't ever hesitate. And I'm sorry that you're feeling awful with how you are currently.

However, I seem to have noticed your special quality through your words and that is introspection. You have taken time to be true to yourself and search who you are. This may sound albeit spiritual but finding yourself and accepting the form you are at is one of the most basic and important step to improve yourself.

It also appears as though you've already started working on the next step too. You've made a list of things that you want to achieve by a certain time frame and that's great. I'll be cheering you on, celebrate every little achievement just like how parents would with a mere single step of a young baby.

The thing about being good at something is ultimately acquired skills. You may be good at something by birth and that merely gives you a head start, you still need to refine and polish it, in order for the skill to shine. By bringing this point forward, what I mean to say is, you're still young, you can find a skill that interests you and work on it, that's how you acquire skill sets for yourself.

You also posed a question about how to earn money. The easiest trick is to find a way to make yourself more sell worthy in the market and for that you have to work on acquiring the very skills that both interests you as well as is sought out in the market. If you say you're good in English then maybe look into newsletters, improving your writing and start with something small. I do have to also mention that the bare minimum you speak of is still much better than being the worst and doing bad things intentionally.

Lastly, I do wanna add that whatever you do, do it for yourself. I know it sounds selfish but it is ultimately you who has to live with yourself so treat yourself better. Become someone you would trust your child-self to be impressed by because that is the only person who you need to keep happy and satisfied.

You can do whatever you can put your mind to, take a breath, find ways in which you'll be happy and healthy, prioritize yourself more and remember, keep moving- in every sense of the word. Because even the tiniest step is an improvement from where you last were.

It’s late when Matthew’s phone rings. 

In his sleep syrupy voice, “H’llo?”

No one answers.

“M’sorry, I think you have the wrong–”

“Tkachuk?”

Matthew pauses, tries to place the voice. “Um. Yeah?” 

He can hear the person on the other end of the line breathe out slowly, “It’s Leon.” The voice is tense, like its owner is gritting his teeth, ripping off a bandaid. 

Leon? Matthew racks his brain, trying to figure out who– oh. Oh.

“Leon, hey. Uh. What’s up man?” 

“I just–” Leon breathes out, “This is stupid.” 

Matthew sighs, sits up in bed, turns on the light like this is a conversation happening face to face, “Is everything okay?” 

“Yeah. I mean. No. Everything’s fucked. But I’m… I’m fine.” 

Matthew hums. If the guy wants to share more, he will. 

It’s quiet for a while, nearly too long.

“Well if that’s–”

“I needed someone to talk to.”

“Okay…” 

“Someone outside of… all this.”

“What’s happening? Am I like your lifeline on a trivia show? Do I need to help you to pick between B and D? Because i gotta tell you, I’m picking D everytime.”

Leon huffs and Matthew knows it’s nearly a laugh. Good. He can do this. He can be annoying, he can distract Leon from whatever his problem is. 

“God. No, I’m just. I miss. Listen, I miss our rivalry. Miss the fire of it. Miss being passionate and it fucking mattering. And. We just. We’re fucking up as this season and I don’t think I can do this. I can’t lose again, Tkachuk. We’ve got a perfect team on paper and it’s not working out there on the ice. I’m watching this fucking castle burn to the ground and I feel like I can’t do anything to stop it. I’ve got a fucking bucket of water or something and it’s not enough. It’s never– I’m not enough.”  

Matthew’s there, head back against his headboard, breathing, listening, thinking what the hell is going on and why me and I don’t think I’ve ever heard Leon Draisaitl speak more than ten words at a time. But. He can do this. Does this well. Loves, relentlessly, uncaring for his own self. 

And this, whatever this is, it’s not love. They don’t speak. Haven’t since. Well. And that’s fine! Leon chose. Matthew didn’t try either. But Matthew can do this. He can treat it like love for a fleeting moment at 2 in the morning, cradle it in his hands and mend it so it’s not so broken anymore. 

“Leon, hey, slow down there. Take a breath with me.” Leon’s quiet for a moment, Matthew is too. 

“First of all, you, you have to know, Leon, you are more than enough. So talented, and hardworking, you know yourself, you trust yourself. And even though this fucking ocean of doubt is swallowing you up, you have to–” Matthew laughs a little, knows it’s ridiculous when he says, “you have to be like Dory and just– keep swimming.” 

Leon groans on the other end of the line, mumbles something akin to ‘I fucking hate the ocean.'

“Listen, I admire you. You’re a hell of a player– not many guys can play with Connor fucking McDavid and make him better, but you do. You’re part of something bigger than yourself. If you keep at it, it’ll come together into something great. I promise. And, hell, I wish I had half of the belief in myself that you do, like it’s something I can tell when I’m around you on the ice. As sure as gravity. You know what you’re capable of, sure of yourself, and I wish that was me.

“So, don’t give me any ‘I can’t do this’ bullshit because yes, you can. You are. Not every game is gonna work out, even my season’s off to a shitty start, but we keep persevering because the wins feel better than the losses, and it’s worth it to chase that. And in the losses? You push to figure who you are. You’ll make yourself better for when the highs come rolling through. Y’know? You’re great, you know you are, but who are you when your greatness is stripped away? That’s the thing you need to figure out, that’s how you persevere. Fight for that piece of yourself, the one that cares so much you called me to ask for advice.

Matthew’s breath hitches a little bit, cherishes the softness in Leon’s voice.

“Yeah. I- I think I know now.”

Hello, good morning, good afternoon or good evening! (Whatever time it is over there where you live)

I don't know if I catch you at an ok time cause a question just popped up in my head and it will probably bug me for the rest of the day if I don't send this particular ask right now.

(It's currently seven in the morning and my brain is still a bit sleepy so I apologise for any grammatical errors or if something doesn't make sense)

Ok, so you're a writer; I am trying to learn how to write too and based on your experience I need your advice on how to get started on the very first story and what are the do's and don'ts when creating the plot and when writing a chapter.

ESPECIALLY world building, I still haven't come up with my own version of the earth in my story and I feel stuck!! With religion ok I'm on a good path, cultures are still in development. But the lands? No single name and I don't know how to draw a map at all.

By the way do you have any good resources for fashion or something? It's supposedly a modern day world in my story but I'm more like attracted to the 2000-2010s fashion and I also need a clothing guide when it comes to people who were born and raised in a village in the woods (there will be small towns and forest villages)

Before starting on a story or even thinking about the characters, it's good to get down the world building first. It doesn't have to be 100% complete, more so 80% with room to change or add onto things. After getting the world fleshed out, you can start on the characters. Where do they come from? What's their home like (living situation, background, culture in their area)? What is their motive, the thing that drives them (greed, fame, compassion, adventure, etc.)?

For the world building tying into the plot, what I keep in mind are these questions:

What point do you want to get across about the world? (Is it run by a controlling government? Is there no government- anarchy? Are there tribes, clans, groups?)

Is there a problem with this world that the main character(s) want to fix? (If there is no problem in the beginning, what problem gets created?)

What motivates the main character(s) to fix this/these problem(s)?

What is your main character's story plot like? (Like the "Hero's journey" as an example. If you dont know what that is, Isuggest looking it up)

For the fashion question, you want early 2000's fashion, yeah? But also want to tie in a woodsy village vibe to that? This also ties into the world building aspect. I'm assuming the village is secluded, so resources for clothing would be limited to what they have in the area unless they trade with other villages or people. Flannel is something that was popular in the early 2000's and many people associate flannel with lumberjacks/the woods. Maybe think about including flannel into their fashion.

There is a lot of research you should do with associations of clothing along with actual clothing that people who live in wooded areas have. The environment plays a role in clothing big time, along with culture. Is the wooded area cold? Is it hot? Wet?dry? Etc. These are just questions to get you thinking.

Summary/conclusion:

Start with the world building

Think of a problem or problems in this world

How do the main character(s) react to this/these problem(s) and what motivates them to want to fix it?

Fashion and culture are tied together along with the area the people live that influences the fashion and culture

There's a lot to think about, but you should always take it one step at a time! Never start writing chapters or characters until you have the world and plot of the story fleshed out.

Additional note: having fleshed out background characters adds realness and depth to your story. Even giving the villain(s) a fleshed out background with motives gives depth! (Never make a villain without their own motives or background. Making a villain for the sake of being a villain isn't good writing)

Cause we also got whatever Viper hatched to find out + now the team is heading to that location so I am guessing itll be some time before we go back to Misetani

In a sense tho now we got like three plot points were working on - (1) Whats Sanko, (2) Solar Mass trying get to Sanko and hatching their own warriors, (3) Misetani being planted on and trying to get info on what Damemaru is

In any case whatever comes next month (cries) should be v interesting i really hope we stay to the plot and not divert cause these monthly releases are causing me hair loss

I also seriously wonder if Viper is hatching the new warriors as forms of Devils - cause we already know thats what he was planning on -- I keep saying that he's said hes got proof of devils existi, so whatever he ends up showing us may be an indicator of the state of the dorohedoro universe/devils and AHSGTHS IM EXCITED
