Crowley has become increasingly good at packing away and compartmentalizing his feelings over the years.

He's not as good at pulling them back out, no matter how much he wants to.

Add to that the fatigue and stress of the averted apocalypse, and you've got one raw and angsty demon to contend with.

Good Omens fic recs #65

Why Don't You Google What Baby Puffins Are Called And Maybe You'll Calm Down by @indieninja92 - A/C, 5k words.  This fic has such a quiet and loving air about it.  Crowley comes to Aziraphale for comfort, and he's beautifully taken care of.  The fic is so atmospheric and soft.

each day you'd rise with me by inkteacup - A/C, 2500 words.  This is a quiet little story about what Aziraphale and Crowley do after Armageddidn't, when maybe it's safer to be public about their relationship.  It's soft and sweet -- a lot is left unsaid, but there's such a feel of love and devotion through this piece and I found it very charming.

a place with fewer doors by mayhawk/@may--hawk - God gen, 1800 words.  This is a wild little piece of theology in which God creates the universe because They are lonely, but honestly that doesn't help.  This is twisty and wild and weird and I really enjoyed it.

How Do They Fall Down? by CynSyn/@amadness2method (art), TawnyOwl95/@tawnyontumblr (writing) - A/C, original characters F/F, 17k words.  A fascinating story full of interesting worldbuilding about Crowley's time in Heaven, and the Fall, and speculation on how he might have known Aziraphale back then.  This was written before we got a canonical meeting in S2 but who cares, it's great.  Some very fun OCs and great characterization for both Crowley and Aziraphale.  Plus some very cool angel illustrations.

Armistice by Jackie Thomas (Jackie__Thomas) - A/C, 5k words.  Crowley sleeps through WWI and wakes when Aziraphale returns to London, but the angel isn't well, PTSD dogging his steps.  Crowley is determined to help him feel better.  The prose here is so dense and beautiful, each word carefully chosen, and the story itself is sad, beautiful, and lovely, with a hopeful ending.  Really enjoyable.

Each artist will then work independently and interpret one character and one prompt in their own style (this will be a discussion- we won’t just choose a character and prompt without talking with you about what you want). As the version of herself from the so-called sacred timeline, maybe Christine can simply go wherever and whenever she wants.

He scans the crowd again and does not find what he wants to.

They look just as afraid. Too afraid to possibly hold a solution. And, therefore, they seek refuge.

He retreats from the wall, pressing his palms to it. Pressing his forehead to it.

Oh, he cannot help them.

Wanda only needs time, and she will be saved. They will need much, much more.

An infected Wanda is healing herself and Vision is keeping her company. Two pieces of a Mind Stone waiting for things to get back to normal so they can talk to each other again. (And so Vision can be told he is handsome.)

Finding A Life (ao3) - flipflop_diva steve/natasha T, 10k

Summary: Imagine what it would be like to lose everyone and everything you ever had and ever knew. Imagine what it would be like to see the entire world destroyed before your very eyes and not be able to do anything about it. Imagine you were the last one standing until, in a weird twist of fate, you were plunked down in another universe that is similar to yours but not quite. For Natasha Romanoff, this is her reality after Ultron destroys the world she is from. Now, she has a new world, a new life and people who look like the ones she left behind but aren't the same. But Natasha has always been a survivor, and she's going to find a way to survive in this new world — and maybe, just maybe, she'll find something more with this version of Steve Rogers.

Summary: Peter's having a not-so-good day - even considering the standards for not so good days with the zombie apocalypse going on right now, this one was just... tough.

But thankfully, he's not alone.

He's really thankful for that.

Summary: On their way to find the cure to the zombie apocalypse, Bucky convinces Sam to join them, despite the fact that they don’t know each other or even like each other.

The flashes Bucky keeps getting of Sam's family, of working with Sam on a boat, or of Sam holding the shield probably don't mean anything, anyway.
