Do you have a recommendation when designing a black character? Or tips, or maybe pages you visit for references?
Suck at explaining stuff but I’ll try
Tumblr media
‼️ Ethnic Features ‼️
So, the art world is in a very weird place when it comes to ethnic features. The conversation was about how using POC ethnic features as an insult in media was damaging and needed to stop, and that somehow morphed into people being scared about drawing people with those features.
Black people have big ears, big noses, and big lips. That's not the problem. The problem was that media was using it to make us look like giant ape, monkey, monster creatures. It's okay to give them these defining features.
Also, remember that brown people have lighter pigment under their feet, hands, and bottom lips. 🌸 (didn’t really know where to put this but drawing mix people is basically a spin the wheel we come in all different shapes and sizes and features. There’s really no wrong way to draw a mixed POC.)
‼️ It's Just My Style ‼️
I'm so goddamn tired of hearing this goddamn excuse. A style does not mean you can't properly represent POC. I would even go on to say that if your style is stunting you so grossly that you can't draw a proper black person, you have a bad art style. Sorry—not really.
Media has shown us that style does not stop representation. The only thing stopping that is your ignorance and refusal to improve. Great examples of ranging styles still being able to represent different POC are "Adventure Time," "Disney's Soul," "Proud Family," "Afro Samurai," etc. I'm just saying this because I've seen this excuse be more prevalent in the art world, and it's just better to nip that in the bud.
‼️ Whitewashing + I Don't Know How to Use the Color Brown ‼️
I've seen people make the excuse that the skin color is lighter because they use a pastel style, but they never bring up the fact that the only color in the art that's lighter is the skin tone. 💀
Also, the whole thing about people saying they don't know how to shade and color brown palettes is just completely bullshit. I would even say that trying to shade pale colors is harder than shading darker colors. Additionally, there are multiple artists and tutorials showing you exactly how it's done. You have no excuses other than you just don't want to.
YouTuber Sinix has a great video on painting skin tones!
‼️ Black Hairstyles ‼️
I love dreads. Dreads are a very pretty hairstyle. However, we have more hairstyles other than dreads. If you're going to draw black characters, I would encourage you to branch out and explore beyond dread heads. There are so many unique black hairstyles out there. We need to move on from just focusing on dreads.
YouTuber Ari has two wonderful videos on black hairstyles in video games. I would recommend checking them out.
‼️ References ‼️
I love referencing old black media such as "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "The Proud Family," and "Little Bill" (before all the Bill Cosby stuff came out). I also appreciate how "House of the Dragon" implemented black people into the lore. Other references include "BOTW/TOTK Rottmnt," etc.
Some artists I reference all the time are Mohammed Agbadi, who doesn't do many art tutorials anymore but often discusses black characters in media, and his art is still amazing. Ethan Becker has a very interesting video on the racist triangle that I recommend checking out.
On Instagram, I love the art of Jojo.Dreamie, Chibichanga12 (holy shit, love their art), Bruniosktch, and Caw.Chan. I also just reference my family a lot. 💀
This is a lot of rambling, but what I’m gonna say is don’t stunt yourself by tricking yourself into believing that your art can’t include POC 🌸🌸‼️💌💖💌💌🎀💕💘‼️🧁

Hey! The link to your FAQ wasn't working for me so I don't know if this question has been asked before. I really appreciate your perspectives on AI art. Do you happen to have any resources that you read/listened to on intellectual property rights and the issues with it? I just don't really know where to start with it.
[heres where i cut out a big paragraph of me, once again, bitching about how blog pages don't work on the tumblr app and i think that's fucking stupid]
anyway i dont have any generalized sources on the subject but the tl;dr of it is: intellectual property rights exclusively benefit people who have the resources to pursue sustained litigation. 99% of the time, what IP law is being used for is to reinforce corporate ownership of work that was done by their employees.
the whole disco elysium debacle is a great case study.
The shareholders of ZA/UM accused the trio of, among other things, intending to steal intellectual property (IP) from the company — a curious accusation, considering that the world of the game is based off of a novel written by Kurvitz himself. The case of Disco Elysium illustrates the shortcomings of IP rights as protection for artists. Consequently, it contains a lot of lessons for the labor movement when it comes to the arts, and serves as a reminder that creative workers are, at the end of the day, workers. But this is not just an academic exercise. It’s a human story about the intimate consequences of capitalist exploitation. “I got my soul ripped out of me,” Kurvitz told me over Zoom in April of 2023. “I got my skull cracked open and my brain lifted out of it by a fifty-five-year-old financial criminal.”
another example: alex norris of webcomic name, which you will probably recognize when you see it, has been raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past several years to try and keep up with the protracted legal battle over maintaining ownership of his own work.
I have been fighting this case since 2019. It arose out of an agreement to make a boardgame based on my webcomic in 2017 but the publishing company has used this as an opportunity to take all of my intellectual property, and has even claimed ownership of Webcomic Name as a whole. I can't go into more detail here, but the details of the case are publicly available to read online.
Then, in a 2024 update:
I have essentially won the main case based on the decisions made last summer. The Judge has clearly stated that I own my comics, and that the other party has infringed on my copyright. It is not over yet, as there are still a few things that need to happen. Hopefully things will all be wrapped up this year. After 6 years of legal battling, I can’t wait to be free of all of this. Hopefully, this second case will backfire, and they will be sanctioned for filing it. But to get to that point requires a frustratingly large amount of work, time and money.
An interesting thing about both of these two specific instances is that they involve creators who had entire bodies of work produced around the specific IPs that were stolen from them before they even began partnering with corporate entities to produce works. which is insane! you can spend years writing novels, drawing comics, and if a company comes in with enough lawyers they can own those ideas.
this is pretty distinctly different to me than instances of work you do while being employed by a corporate entity being owned by that corporate entity, because at least you know what you're getting into there to some degree, but i still think that's bad too. consider stuff like the owl house and gravity falls, two disney shows made by people who very very clearly did not like working for disney. disney owns their ideas, their characters, their worlds, because that's the price you pay for having an animated show produced.
essentially it's very very clear upon even the slightest examination that intellectual property in no way exists to codify who the creator responsible for specific creative concepts or works is. it exists to turn nebulous things like 'ideas' into market commodities, and to funnel the profits made by the labor of individual artists and writers into corporate bank accounts.
the only person who has ever really benefited from IP law as an individual trying to lay claim to their own work is ken penders, who notoriously won his suit to have ownership of characters and storylines he created. heartbreaking: Worst Person You Know Gets An Unequivocally Deserved Legal W.
The comics continued under Flynn’s direction as if nothing happened, but things started looking grim in late 2012, when Archie suddenly fired its entire legal team. The company had been unable to produce Penders’ work-for-hire contract, which would have given control of his creations to Sega. Penders claimed the contract had never existed. A heavily circulated Tumblr post outlining the case (which has been corroborated as a reliable source by Penders) explains that while Archie did provide a photocopy of a contract allegedly signed by Penders in 1996, Penders claimed that the document was a forgery. That it was neither an original copy nor a contract from the beginning of the writer’s tenure at Archie meant that its validity was questionable. Making things worse, Archie couldn’t produce an original copy of any previous contributor’s contract, meaning that any writer or artist who had worked on the Archie Sonic line could potentially follow in Penders’s footsteps and reclaim their work. “So are you saying prior counsel blew it?” the presiding judge asked Archie counsel Joshua Paul in a May 2013 court session. His reply was unequivocal: “Absolutely, your Honor.”
So yeah. Owning the work you do as an artist is only something that happens when the people trying to profit off of it show unprecedented and staggering level of incompetence in their legal teams.
Then, alongside not owning the concepts and ideas you produce while working with corporate entities, there's the issue of NDA regarding specific pieces you've produced. This causes a LOT of trouble for freelance illustrators/character designers/concept artists, etc. Looking for work is very hard when the past three years of pieces you've drawn can't be added to your portfolio. Some people have password protected pages on their portfolios that they use for NDA work, but I believe the right to do this varies depending on your contract. I'm not 100% sure. In cases where the project you worked on eventually comes out, that's one thing, but there will be instances where the entire project gets canned after all the work is done, but is still under NDA so essentially all of your work has been taken from you, crumpled up into a ball by a studio executive, thrown in the trash can, and legally you are not allowed to go pick it out of the bin and try and flatten it out again.
This has all been pretty art-focused because that's the kind of circles I run in and where a lot of my interests lie but the truth is none of this is even remotely close to as evil IP law gets. I've saved the most egregious for last: The Lakota Language Consortium
Tumblr media
The Lakota Language Consortium had promised to preserve the tribe’s native language and had spent years gathering recordings of elders, including Taken Alive’s grandmother, to create a new, standardized Lakota dictionary and textbooks.  But when Taken Alive, 35, asked for copies, he was shocked to learn that the consortium, run by a white man, had copyrighted the language materials, which were based on generations of Lakota tradition. The traditional knowledge gathered from the tribe was now being sold back to it in the form of textbooks.
When you're in defense of IP law, this is what you're siding with. This is the rational endpoint of IP and it is neither a fluke nor an example of the concept being twisted against its original design. Art, culture, language, it belongs to whoever is most capable of turning it into a product. The economic incentives of producing and distributing arts and culture demand this is how things be.
Meya says his work is a vital tool in preserving the Lakota language, which did not previously have a standardized written form. He estimated that there are fewer than 1,500 fluent Lakota speakers left and that over the last decade and a half, the organization has helped add 50 to 100 more. “Just because money is involved in it does not inherently make it an evil thing,” Meya said in a recent interview with NBC News. Most of the products his organizations make are free, he said, but the cost of printing textbooks has to come from somewhere. “That tends to be sometimes part of the rhetoric, ‘Oh, there’s money involved. It must be, you know, part of the overall colonization effort.’ Well, you know, that’s just not realistic.”
Artists looking to force their way into the class of people who gets protected by these laws are not looking out for their community. They are not protecting anything but their own perceived financial interests. Intellectual property will never, ever benefit the most marginalized members of creative communities and anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is huffing some serious copium.
Frankly, I don't believe anyone can or should 'own' things like Ideas or Specific Aesthetic Flairs. But even if you do believe in that, IP law isn't the framework for handling it.

I find it odd when people frame lore revelations as being some sort of opposite to character development as they often are pretty heavily connected.
There are tons of examples like the mechanics of how the seaborne works being actively thematically important for multiple of the stories with them for example.
Kal´tsit being a synthetic being created by a now gone precursor civilization isn't just random lore fluff, it informs her character. Why she feels isolated and set apart from people and it makes her strong love for the people of Terra more meaningful because it would be easier for her to justify that she does not have to care about them because she is not one of them. But she does care about them! She considers herself part of Terra and responsible for helping people, something which clearly makes her feel very guilty for "failing".
spoilers for Babel event and chapter 14 below:
The doctor´s entire motives for betraying Theresa only make sense from their past and the goals of the precursor civilization. Those reveals do not undermine the character drama but enhance it, the contrast between the doctor wanting to be able to help people like Kal´tsit, Amiya or Theresa clashing with their mission to ensure originium absorbs everything. They know what they are doing is wrong but they feel like all choices are wrong and the one they have a duty to fulfill is the one that required betraying Theresa. I also think a nice detail is after the doctor made up their mind to betray Theresa they start referring to Kal´tsit as AMa-10 in their inner monologues and stop trying to think about Amiya at all. Pressumably sort of trying to dehumanise or ignore the people they know they will hurt because it makes it psychologically easier for them to go through with it, this is especially notable since the doctor gave Kal´tsit her name in the first place.
And when we get a bunch of weird reveals about originium and the past civilization in chapter 14... its mainly used to get some interesting character interactions between Kal´tsit and other characters and to facilitate the situation that allows for the confrontation with Theresa, also the stuff relating to the sarkaz souls stuck there is to explain why Theresa would willingly work with Theresis despite his uhm... evil aspirations, furthermore it is also to finally reveal a bit more about what Priestess was actually like as a character.
Heck back in Lone trail while the stronger character stuff was elsewhere (I especially love the Ifrit and Rosmontis focused stuff) the sarcophagi and Friston stuff is mostly to give some more insight into characters like Ho´oleyhak, Kal´tstit and doctor, introducing us to Mark Max and giving an actually believable reason for Kal´tsit having to burn her bridges with the Tin Man, causing Rhodes to be in pretty hot water with the Columbian government.
I find the idea that the story is deciding to "stop doing character focus to do lore" absurd quite frankly.
World building is important! What makes Arknights unique compared to a lot of other popular gacha games is in large part the world and history. Arknights characters are well written, but in particular they are well written in the sense that Arknights is good at showing how the world they live in shape people into who they are. Learning more about that world to explore it in greater depth is not contradictory to the goal of interesting character writing, it helps it.

Musing: Emotional connection
Recently a very close person to me suggested i binge watch "Angel Hare", before that day my only exposure to that project was a fan game that had a very funny punchline in lampooning the "cursed videogame" genre.
So i watched the whole thing and it was great.
Tumblr media
This scene right here made me feel more feelings than most of the media i have watched/played/read in like the last 5 years or so.
So it made my mind wonder, like, "hold on, when was the last time i felt this strongly about a piece of entertainment?"
Sure, if you know me, i felt strongly about the ongoing plotline for Noelle on Deltarune, so one would think "2021 when chapter two came out", right? but no, i got very invested but it wasn't it.
The last time i felt so strongly about a piece of media was actually Deltarune's predecesor, Undertale in 2015.
I finished Undertale in tears, i got in a very bad funk when i found out about the genocide ending, it truly made me feel emotions.
So i began to ponder, just what really moves me?
Full disclosure: I don't cry at movies. This is not a "look at me i am a badass who is not beheld by feelings" statement, no, i kinda just dont connect emotionally with movies as easily as other people.
I have talked about this, many times actually, Toy Story 3 did not make me cry, it always bothers me how people at the time were like "if TS3 didn't make you cry, you have no soul" and shit like that, so let me repeat something i have said many times before:
Toy Story 3 was a movie i went to see the day doctors had informed me my mother had entered terminal phase of cancer.
My friends took me to see TS3 when i felt the greatest sadness i have ever felt in my entire life. And im glad TS3 was a pretty funny movie that managed to distract me from what i was going through. TS3 uplifted me when i had a very real reason to cry.
So what im getting at is, i rarely connect emotionally with what conventionally makes people emotionally connected, not that i havent felt strong emotions from movies, but as we'll get to later, it's just not the stuff you would expect, when we get back to movies you'll be thinking, "what the fuck, Toy story 3 did not make you emotional but THIS THING DID?!"
So, if traditional "emotional things" rarely have moved me i began to think to myself, "what are things that have made me feel this strongly?"
I realized it's the damn weirdest things.
I'll try to list things that i can remember making me feel this emotional.
Now i'll be upfront, im not a very cultured person, so you'll notice most of this is...not very high brow.
Also, obviously spoilers for all this stuff im about to talk about.
Before we begin: Honorable mention goes to me finding out i had repressed memories of being traumatized as a kid by being show an animated adaptation of "Pilgrim's progress" by an aunt, which disturbed me greatly towards the end as the main character dies and before it the souls of two people he met are condemned to eternal damnation from making MISTAKES, not sins, not evil, but THE FUCKING MISTAKE of exploring alternate routes before them.
-Yoshi's Island, 1994 When i was a wee one Yoshi was one of my fave videogame characters, so of course i was beyond hype when a game where you play as yoshi came out, the ending is one of the greatest moments in videogame history, the beautiful music, the journey of the stork, and finally the classic Mario fan fare playing as baby mario and baby luigi being held by their parents with the words "Heroes are born", it's such a powerful moment. To this day i still cannot listen to that credits music without tearing up.
Tumblr media
Sequel? Retcon?! I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, SHUT UP, THIS IS THE PERFECT ENDING AND NOTHING ELSE HAPPENED AFTER IT!
-The bicentennial man, 1999 The bicentennial man is one of the biggest examples of a movie being fucking mischaracterized in the marketing, this movie is based on Isaac Asimov's short story and later novel, it stars Robin Williams, so all marketing was presenting the movie as Robin Williams comedy movie, IT. IS. NOT. The bicentennial man is a scifi drama about the existential search for meaning and the nature of what truly is to be alive. You get invested on the quest of this robot trying to find humanity for 200 years, and the punchline to this movie is, in his quest for humanity he forgoes the immortality being a machine provides him as he had developed the way to turn himself biological, still artificial but biological, and he dies peacefully on his sleep before he can be told that humanity had declared him, legally, a human being. To me it was such a powerful moment, he found true meaning to his life, became human, yet died before knowing so.
-Courage the cowardly dog, "The Mask", 2002 This is a legendary episode of an already great show that has a lot of very good emotional moments, some may cite episodes like "the giving tree" or "the last star maker", but for me it's this one. For those who have never experienced this episode, it revolves around a cat girl named Kitty who one day shows up at Courage's farm and she's wearing an upsetting mask, she abuses courage because she believes all dogs are bad. The mask serves 2 purposes, one is metaphorical, "her inability to face reality", the second is to hide her identity as she believes she is in danger. The thing is, she is on the run because her lover best friend Bunny is trapped in an abusive relationship with a gangster dog who threatened to kill her if she was seen near Bunny ever again, the episode coats the whole situation with a ton of goofiness, but it's actually very fucking dark: A young lesbian is trapped against her will on an abusive relationship with a toxic, violent man who threatened to kill her girlfriend if she refused to date him. Courage, being a good little dog ventures to save Bunny and have her reunite with Kitty because, despite how bad Kitty was to him, he recognizes that Kitty is a victim and she and Bunny deserve better, leading to Courage letting them escape away together, to live happy and free. I don't think it's just me, but the final image of Kitty and Bunny hugging as the train takes them to freedom felt so powerful to me.
Tumblr media
-Twisted Metal Head-on, 2002 This is one of the weirdest things i have ever gotten emotionally invested, but honestly? i love when some shitposting franchise suddenly manages to pull this off, specially given the set up for this whole thing im going to describe starts in an early game as a fucking joke. So to contextualize this, the first two Twisted metal games were helmed by the og creators of the franchise, TM 3, 4 and small brawl were made by different developers when the creators lost the rights, but during the PS2 era when the og developers came back and created TM: Black, and TM: Head-on, Black was a reboot, Head-on was a retcon sequel to TM 2 that eliminated TM3 from the timeline, but not TM 4. Still with me? Okay so TM2 had this character, Krista Sparks, who was the revealed to be the daughter of the main antagonist of the game, Calypso, but hold on? wasn't Calypso's backstory that his family died in a tragic accident which lead him to become evil? So turns out, the FBI retrieved his daughter's corpse, turned it into a robot with a bomb with the intend to make her get close to Calypso and blow him up. The ending ends comically with a message reading "The FBI wishes to thank you for putting an end to Twisted metal". Stil Still with me?!?!?! ok! so Head on! In this game Krista is back, as a ghost, her ending consists on her confronting her dad, who has now brought up so much pain, misery and death to the world, Calypso tries to explain that the nature of his powers mean he has to do this otherwise he cannot use his powers, and his plan was for Krista to win so he could bring her back and her mom to life, but Krista is so horrified with what has happened that she refuses and blurts "I wish the accident that killed me and mom never happened" the intention being impeding Calypso from becoming this evil super natural villian, but as per all endings, it's always a monkey paw affair and Calypso knows it, looking saddened he grants the wish because he has no option, his powers force him to. Briefly Krista has a vision of her childhood with her dad before he became evil as they share a sweet moment playing on a swing set. HARD CUT TO A HOSPITAL, Krista is on a bed in coma, Calypso is there and whispers to her something along the lines of "Sleep tight my dear, may you finally find peace", as Calypso is leaving the hospital you can hear 2 doctors talking, mentioning that Krista had been in coma for more than a decade and apparently Calypso just had found out. Excuse me Twisted Metal, but WHAT THE FUCK? You are a dumb fucking edgy car combat game, how dare you make me feel these things?
-Mother 3, 2006 (translation on 2008) Mother 3 hopefully needs no introduction, or maybe it does, because many people have reduced it to a joke due to how nintendo stubbornly refuses to give us an official release, but also many of you must know this franchise is the spark that ignited the flame of the absolute Juggernaut Undertale would become, as well as many other games influenced by it. The Mother/Earthbound games were known for being quirky and deviating from the standard conventions of the game, notably for the modern day setting and unorthodox choices of how you deal with the villians, they were always billed as emotional, but i feel they did not live up to that...until 3. The general narrative to Mother 3 is about how greed is destroying the world, the main villian corrupting what we see of the world (a paradise little town where everybody is nice) by introducing luxury, money and status....and also stomping everything with his fascist army and cyborg mutants. Mother 3 is a game about how the worst traits of humanity are destroying the world and upsetting nature. Mother 3 is also the story of 2 twin brothers who suffer tragedy after tragedy after tragedy that ultimately pits them one against the other with the fate of the world at stake. Mother 3 punches you almost immediately by killing the mother character (which i might mention you're encouraged to name after your own mother) at the end of the first chapter and how this affects her surviving family. one of the Twins, Claus, is so disturbed that he decides to on on his own to try to kill the monster that took his mom, while the other, Lucas, was too afraid and weak to stop his brother, resulting on Claus dying as well...but the badguys take his corpse and reanimate it into a cold, emotionless cyborg who follow's the big bad's order and is using him to try to cause the end of the world. In the climax of the story Lucas is force to confront Claus, clause is a brain washed cyborg, his master is out of the picture and all he can do is fight, you can't reason with him...and then.... Lucas and Claus begin to hear a voice, a familiar voice, it's their mother, reaching for them from beyond the grave, pleading for them to stop fighting, suddenly Lucas and Claus both have a flash back to when they were babies, overhearing their parents talk about the hopes they have for them, the many things they will be able to achieve together, this makes Clause snap out of his brain washing, removing the helmet that had been hiding his face since he was resurrected, Lucas and him have a moment as they are finally reunited, Claus realizes all the bad things he has done while under control of the bad guy and realizes he must atone for his crimes, he prepares a lightning attack he knows cannot hurt Lucas and cause HIM to die. "Im sorry for all the problems i caused" he says as he is dying on his dad's arm, "I must go to where mom is now", as he passes away he can hear his mother calling for him, "You just be so tired" she says. Now i know it will sound insane for people to hear a videogame of all things can make one so emotional, but damn, just recollecting these scenes for this dumb post has made me start to cry, the emotional punch of this scene is very strong, it demolished me when i played the game back in the day, but now? After my own mother passed away? I have been scared of playing this game again. I mot sure if im emotionally prepare to go though that again, even 10+ years later. That's how powerful this scene was to me.
-Elite Beat Agents, 2007 If you have played this game, you know were im going, for those who dont, EBA is a silly rhythm game about secret agent cheer leaders that are dispatched around the world to help people in need by raising their spirit and allow them to overcome adversity, the game is insanely wacky and have scenarios like helping a ninja car salesman prevent a company from stealing his company's secrets, helping a washed up baseball star fight a lava spitting golem rampaging on an amusement park and traveling back in time to help davinci paint the mona lisa. EBA is also the second game in the Ouendan series, and there is something you need to know about this series: They all include tearjerker levels to contrast with all the goofiness. "A christmas Wish" is a christmas themed level set to Chicago's "You are the inspiration" and the story to this level is positively DEVASTATING: A few months before christmas a business man tells his daughter and wife he has to go on a business trip but he promises he'll be back just in time for christmas, the girl asks him to bring back a "girlfriend" for her teddy bear. The father dies on a plane crash. When the mother breaks the news to the little girl she gets angry, crying to the skies that her dad promised he would be back for christmas. The backdrop of the stage is set the girl and the mom doing things to remember the dad, like looking through a photo album and baking a cake for his birthday, it's very sweet, but...this is EBA, if you're doing poorly you see the "bad" versions of these scenes, and in this one, one is very devastating, the little girl is having a dream where she's chasing the spirit of her dad, if you're doing well she calls for him and for a brief moment the dad stops and starts turning towards her, if you're doing bad the spirit fades away and the girl wakes up in tears. Dear goodness. But of course, if you beat the level you get this sequence of the ghost of the dad showing up on chrismas morning to fullfil his promise, giving the little girl the teddy bear he promised and having the chance to say good bye to his family.
Tumblr media
This punches you really fucking hard in the gut. I am incapable of doing this level without ending in tears. For a time i could not even listen to this song without tearing up until, i shit you now, the deadpool movie used it on a comedy scene.
-Punch out!!, 2009 This one is one i know got me because of personal nostalgia, when i was a wee one the og NES punch out was a big part of my childhood, Punch Out!! on the wii was a masterfully crafted tribute to the franchise. To not dwell too much time on this, this game has an interesting quirk, the ending is a downer ending and it's the only ending you can get. After you beat the last opponent there is a sequence where Mac and Doc seemingly are having a disagreement, where Mac seemingly has decided that if he loses 3 times, he'll retire from boxing completely. After this you face randomly opponents from the game, the first time you lose in this mode you lose your champion title, after three loses, it's game over and the story mode becomes locked for that save file. The final cutscene is Doc walking through what seems to be a gallery with boxing memorabilia, and untold number of years later, he is alone, he spots his old bike on this gallery and rings the bell, he looks up and speak to an absent Mac, "Good job son, good job", as he leaves the camera pans to reveal he was looking at a framed photo of him and Mac on one of their training sessions. The music on this sequence is so perfect, and it was aimed at people like me, people who grew up with the franchise, the idea was making it feel like Doc was reminiscing of YOUR time with punch out when you were a kid, and to make you think about how far YOU have come since the first time you played the games in an arcade, or your nes, or snes. It's actually pretty effective and it got me.
-Regular Show, "Trucker Hall of Fame", 2012 What makes this one different from others instances of me making me emotional, it's, much like the "Angel Hare" example at the top, this one is all about WARM HAPPY FEELINGS, so for those who did not watch this episode, let me summarize it for you: One day Muscleman gets word that his dad, who was his personal hero, has passed away, and he's tasked with carrying his final wish, spread his [hat's] ashes in a place called "Trucker hall of fame", you see, Muscleman was lead to believe his dad was a legendary trucker and that earned him his admiration, but during the episode Muscleman finds out he was lied to, his dad was a forklift driver that the truckers belittled, altho feeling cheated for having been lied to he carries on with his father's wishes. Now because this is regular show, when they arrive at the trucker's hall of fame they are immediately attacked by ghost trucker for "desecrating the hall of fame" as they spread the ashes something happens: The ghost of Muscleman's dad manifests himself and saves his son, taking the chance to apologize to his son and having the chance to say his final good bye personally. Despite the inherent silliness of the show's premise, i think this episode really did a good job on expressing that sense of catharsis of making peace with the passing of a love one.
-The Final Girls, 2015 A friend suggested we watched this movie, and much like Twisted metal up there, i absolutely did not expect for this incredibly stupid comedy horror movie to hit me with any sort of emotional connection, and yet... The Final Girls opens with the main character in a car with her mom, who is an struggling C-tier actress whose biggest achievement ever was appearing on a Friday the 13th knock off movie, during this sequence they get in an accident where the mom dies and even after it's been some time since the accident the main character has not properly moved on from the passing of her mom. Her friends and some people at the college she attends are preparing this horror movie festival where the main event is they are going to play the movies from the franchise her mom was on, and they suggest she should come. Then some bullshit happens and they all end up somehow trapped in the world of the movie. A quick rundown of the rules of horror movies is explained to them, the monster cannot be defeated by fighting it, it's only the final girl who can defeat the killer, and unfortunately for them they accidentally killed the character that, in the canon of the movie, is the final girl, so they believe one of them has to become the final girl and end the movie to hopefully get out of it. The problem is, the main character is experimenting shock from interacting with her mom's character, she is not taking well to seeing her mom on the flesh and she dedicates the entire movie to "save her mom", in the climax of the movie the mom character begins to understand that she is a fictional character and the nature of her attachment to the main character, understanding that they cannot be both the final girl and if then main character wants to make it back to the real world she has to learn "To let go", choosing to sacrifice herself so there is only one final girl. It's kinda weird, that of all possible premises, this managed to make a "You need to move on" message that somehow managed to resonate with me, you might have figured out by now a running theme here, but, i was really hard for me to deal with my mother's passing even if it's been years since it happened, so it's kinda funny for me to think these are the places i have found comfort from.
-Undertale, 2015 Okay this is tumblr, i already talked about Undertale on the prologue to, whatever the fuck im doing here, you know what undertale is, you know how effective it is, Undertale is really well designed for you to grow emotionally attached to these characters, so being able to see all these characters you know have grown attached to have their happy ending on the pacifist ending does fill one with a very satisfactory warm happy feeling that can move you to tears. ...Or you can be bummed out by being a little greedy gaming bitch and taking a look at the bad ending. Because you just couldn't help yourself, could you?
-Onward, 2020 This movie did not hit me as hard as the most emotional entries on this, but it still got me, because in the end of the day the main motivation of the characters on this movie is experiencing closure, catharsis over the death of their father, for Ian it's the fact that he died before he was born so he never met him and is driven by this desire to finally see the father who he shares such a connection with on the stories everybody who knew him in life have told him, and then there is Barley, the elder brother, who did know his dad in life, but is tortured by how, as a kid, he did not properly say good bye to him because he was terrified of death and avoided being there for him in his final days. The ending for this movie is very powerful, Ian choosing to sacrifice being able to meet his dad in the flesh, even for a few minutes, in order to give Barley the chance to being able to properly make peace with his dad and properly say good bye to him. Ian doesn't even get to SEE this, he does not get to see his dad even tho it was what he wanted most of all, but he understood bringing closure to Barley was more important than his selfish desire to see his dad, someone he never knew in life.
So what have i learned from whatever the hell this trainwreck of a post is...i guess that what really gets to me, what really moves me, is when a character, maybe not even someone i can realistically relate to, gets to experience closure, catharsis and be in peace with the people who are missing on their life. The majority of these things in here, even the Angel Hare example, relate to a character being able to experience catharsis by being able to properly make pace or otherwise contact someone they lost, or their ability to move on from this world, so to speak, knowing that their affairs and in order and that their loved ones will be okay.
Things can always look dark, the world may be trying to keep you down, maybe losing someone has been specially hard for you, but it's not the end of the world, you are loved and things can get better, it always hurts and we'll never stop missing what we have lost, but the memories of happier times are there to remind us, we can be happy again, and we can move on, use those memories as your motivation, you can lead yourself to a future filled with light.

okay! im about to read your newest the hobbit post but i had a little question that might be hard to answer and if it is thats cool! i was just wondering how you seem to seamlessly get all the dwarves in character. even when the movies and stuff don't focus on them. It's like every time i read your works it's ALWAYS SO IN CHARACTER and it's so good but im so amazed with how you do it when the dwarves arent all focused on much. its amazing. im thinking of trying to write my own for them, similar to what you do kinda, but im scared of not getting their characterization right!
First off, I can’t wait to see what you write 🥰 if you do requests maybe I’ll shoot you one hehe
Ooooh well this is an interesting question for sure! Well characters/characterization has always been like a special interest of mine and it's an honor to hear I do it well! This is gonna be loooooooooooooooooooooooong but I kinda want to go into examples for them all hehe
So overall I'd say: Keeping period-accurate language and just their culture in mind is important. Trying to avoid too many contractions and colloquialism from our time and things like that. But for more specifics I think it's easy to fall into stereotypes, even in the movies themselves and it's sort of like a mix of leaning into those and going outside them in the right blend? But I'll explain my thought process for each of them by family cuz I wanna talk about them 🤔😆
Balin, Dwalin: Balin is one of the characters less stereotyped because his role is more prominent. He definitely serves as a guide and source of wisdom, but also has the background of being an "old warrior". He's quieter and more level-headed than some of the other more boisterous characters and I see him as being (healthily) protective in relationships because of his guiding and caring. Dwalin is also a warrior and that tends to come more forward, but he also loves good food and cares about people. He, too, is protective even if it's more of a rough way, and I think he likes the feeling of being needed and being able to take care of people even if he acts like he doesn't. That's a bit of a headcanon, but again, looking beyond stereotypes I guess hehe~
Oin, Gloin: Oin is mostly known for being the healer, maybe the hearing jokes. But he’s also a jolly soul and obviously quite intelligent too. I think he’s almost the most balanced between the raucous, axe-wielding mining dwarf stereotype and the more intellectual side not stereotyped for them… which is silly in and of itself! Oin is smart, funny, experienced…but he still knows how to fight and how to have a good time! Gloin is often seen as being similar to his son, but he has an even stronger sense of family values and loyalty as a father and husband. He also is shown to enjoy gambling and treasure, too, so I love imagining him as knowing all the most fun games and ways to bet!
Thorin, Fili, Kili: Thorin is the most serious one and I think that comes from the weight of everything falling on him. A big part of him wants to give in and trust or love people, but it's hard for him to add outsiders to that. Trust and respect are very important for him, and formalities and proof come before he opens up. But when you let him, he has some capacity for physical affection as we see when he embraces Bilbo. Literally and figuratively that shows him 'embracing' a new friendship. His family is very important for him and I think while he seems to feel it's not in the cards, I think Thorin deep down would love a family of his own. Fili and Kili both have teasing streaks and a mix of the seriousness and merriment. They feel a similar weight to Thorin but much less compounded with youth and their own personalities. It's more generational trauma that gets imposed on them. Fili has all his blades and is shown to be very loyal, but beyond that he is very self-sacrificial. He's giving and loving, surrendering seeing Erebor to be with his brother and even giving his life toward the canon end. As much as he teases, he has the best interests of those he loves in mind and will stand up for that. Kili is portrayed as the flirt, which is quite true, but he also is the most idealistic. The one who asks 'why not?' in the face of challenges. He can be a bit of a show-off, but he’s a sweetheart and had the most youthful innocence preserved.
Bifur, Bofur, Bombur: Bifur stands out for speaking mostly in signs and Khuzdul, but he’s also a strong, experienced fighter. I think his condition lends to him being lonelier and wanting to reach out and be included, hence him having such resentment toward the axe once he loses it! Kind of like Dwalin, though, he’s an interesting mix of wanting to seem tough but also being softer than he lets on inside. Bofur is jolly and loves to sing, dance, and have fun, but he’s also the biggest sweetheart. He, after all, is the one who tells Bilbo he’s a part of the group and that he belongs with them. He risks his own safety to help Kili in Laketown. I really think he’d be the sweetest with a family and honestly he’s just one of my favorites in the whole darn thing, I could go on and on! Bottom line is that Bofur is cheerful and musical, but also the first dwarf you’ll want to talk to for real, heart-filled motivation and kind words about anyone. Bombur is the most stereotyped character and I hate that due to the nature of it!!! 😤 The old ‘haha fat person obsessed with food’ trope bugs me because it’s just riddled with unfunny prejudices even though both of those things are valid and true. But weight as a joke frickin sUCKS and I say that as someone who’s been fat-shamed by someone who claimed to be my best friend, joked about how heavy I was and going to tip things over etc. But we see that Bombur is strong, a very fast runner and capable fighter whose weight can help him in a fight! The popular fanon/actors headcanon is that he’s married and the father of I believe thirteen or fourteen children and I love that for him 😌 he’s obviously more quiet, happy to stay along the sides and take orders, but one of his few focused non-caricature scenes is him returning Bifur’s axe like ‘here you go cousin 🥺’… just a goofy lil sweetheart I love. Basically he’s the one who does the cooking for the company but I try to give his quiet but big-hearted side more attention than just being like heehoo fat guy lol
Dori, Nori, Ori: Dori is always just put in his ‘mother-hen’ role, which is definitely part of his character! But also it is described by movie creators/actors that he’s known for being a few other things, like having a taste for finer things and being more on the gentle and intellectual side as well. One detail they mentioned was hence the silver case he braids his beard into 😆 but I think of him as being softer and more well-read as well as being one of the obviously most family-oriented. Nori gets the sort of swashbuckling thief reputation and tbh, I see it! I also often characterize him as a tease, which I think is part of why the film notes/actors mention he drives Ori crazy lol. Ori himself is usually portrayed with his writing and drawing in focus as well as the fanon that he knits! I love him for being more sweet and polite, but also with the little moments of showing his strength and rougher side. And sometimes he just feels like he has to keep up with everyone else 🥺 In general I see him being the sweetest in relationships even if he is the least mature. Also probably second to Dori in terms of preferring comforts.
Bilbo: Home is obviously a big motif for Bilbo because he’s such a homebody in the beginning and rediscovers his love for adventure. A big part of his character, then, is realizing people can be home and there is more than one definition. He’s also a bit shy and awkward being so introverted as he is, so if he doesn’t know how to say something that’ll probably show. Like most hobbits, though, he’s so sweet and resilient and has a purity at heart that the others don’t. He’s intentional in his behaviors and clever. Also, he knows quality when he sees it 😌

Hey, can you do a yandere collector x reader were the collector and the are flame twins? Since they're soul split into two bodies, they can used collector's magic?
(well, this took me a while to understand!)
The Collector goes by he/them and i'm using him
The Collector x Twin!Reader
Tumblr media
There are 2 possibilities really. You're either energetic or you don't have any kind of energy.
Energetic Reader
All you two are gonna cause is chaos. You guys have so much energy inside and especially after going back to your human forms, you guys are worse than ever. All you do is run around like a maniac. You guys mess with anyone that you want. I mean both of you have a power that is too powerful for the your own good. Ya'll can play games all day long! You guys probably force people to join to your games as well. I mean no one can stop you guys from bothering people. The Emperor is probably scared of you two. When it's just the one of you, you know it's not THAT bad but when it's the two of you...there truly is no getting out. Ironically you like cold jokes. Sometimes you make them just to annoy The Emperor or someone else. Y'all also gossip a lot, you guys can't mind your own business. Both of you, curious. You guys want to know everything about everybody! You guys also act like each other in a comedic way. Bullying each other as a joke then doing it literally to strangers. The worst part is, both of you know how powerful you are. You both share the same power so for example you found out something new about your power, you can use it on The Collector then show him how it's done. You guys love pranks, you guys do it all of the time! The Collector hates it when you aren't with him. I mean why are you hanging out with someone else when he's there. Aren't siblings suppose to stay together forever? He often gets jealous. Whenever you hang out with someone he just doesn't shut up. He's also very protective of you. If someone does something to you, they are going to die in the most painful way possible. He truly loves you and you love him too. Another headcanon is that; you guys try new dumb stuff. Most of the time it ends with either killing people, burning the place, hurting one of y'all or a traumatic experience but it's still fun. You're never alone, there is always someone who matches your energy! Pretty solid relationship i say.
No Energy Reader
He always wants to play with you but you don't have the energy:( . You not being all that sunny isn't a huge deal for The Collector though! You do play board games with him. You're more mature than The Collector. You protect him from any kind of threat or at least you try to. Also you probably are not a bully...you kinda are. He loves clinging onto you. He never leaves you alone. You both do create chaos but you prefer going slowly while The Collector just goes right into it! He isn't all that patient y'know? The Collector watches you do stuff. Like reading, making food...yeah you get the point. If he wants to cook just like you, oh boy. He's probably going to start a tantrum if you say no so you have no other choice than saying yes. Be really really careful because he might burn down the place. He sometimes pull pranks on you to see your reaction and ngl they are kinda funny. If your someone who is always tired, he'd cuddle you or something. He tries being extra quiet when you're sleeping (fails miserably). He makes a lot of noise but i mean he is you brother so you can deal with it. He hates seeing you without him by your side. I mean what if someone catches you of guard?! He does know that you're really powerful and all but still he worries about his sibling! He's also over protective and possessive too. He want all of your attention! He even gets jealous of the book you're reading. I mean why pay attention to a book when there is The Collector. He obviously loves when you decide to make chaos with him. It's actually pretty fun when you try it out! You guys often have little talks. He trust you with his own life. He tells you anything and everything.
(as i said before it took me a while to understand the request, so i hope i did it right!)

This Week In BL - The Floodgates Have Opened
Oct 2022 Wk 1
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying the most.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
The Eclipse (Fri YT) 9 of 12 - Aye is such an intense and focused little thing. The eye contact with these 2 is beyond eye fucking into something more like eye soul-mating. The pool kiss was fine, but they looked cold. GMMTV loves a pool kiss.
My Only 12% (Fri iQIYI) 9 of 14 - this show makes me cry. Fee is a wonderful friend. This was a good episode, it was fun to see Eiw come into his own. I look forward to the reunion next week.
Ai Long Nhai (Mon iQIYI) 2 of 10 - I figured it out, this is Make it Right the uni years! That’s why I like it. Nhai Is apparently flirtier and gayer when drunk. I’ve known some British lads like that. OK so sex happened. I like that there was some kind of confused drunken consent. But also serious regrets and bisexual identity crisis. Poor Nhai: You can’t have your friend and eat him too. This plot is moving quickly: it’s ep 2 and they have slept together and confessed, plus a one month trial relationship. I like it. This is messy gay in a way I appreciate.
Ghost Host, Ghost House (Weds YouTube & Gaga) 1 of 8 - I'm enjoying the lead pair, the meet cute, and the combative nature of their relationship. I’m not wild about the premise but I like how different it is from all the previous “my ghost boyfriend” takes on this concept. More “our human pet.” I’m beginning to be weirdly charmed by how bureaucratic the Thai afterlife always seems to be.
Big Dragon (Sat Gaga) 1 of 8 - Basically we have player love-rivals (a girl)/enemies to lovers + a rich/poor pairing: Yai & Mangkorn. It had a good hook but most of the ep was dull; thankfully Gaga has a 1.5x speed. The acting is bad but the sex scene was fine: dominance struggles, lots of switching, and verse stuff. *we likie* This show is using drugging (impaired judgement/dub-con/both men), sexual extortion, and blackmail as a plot device not unlike LITA. But it’s using antiheroes and presenting everything, including the characters, in a negative light. Thus right now in BL we have a great example of how the same plot device can be depicted differently and result in an entirely different perspective and watcher experience. In other words: a narrative I’m hating in LITA doesn’t bother me here, because of characterization.
Work from Heart (Thurs YouTube) 3 of 7 - The agro yet deeply in-crush behavior of our tsundere seme is kinda fun, but the fashion remains truly terrible and the most unpleasant performer in this show. Although it’s got competition.
Love in the Air (Thurs iQIYI) 8 of 13 - the premise and blackmail set up for this couple really fucked with me (because Sky is a broken angel-baby and Pai is an irredeemable pustule). I am not happy about it: DUMPSTER FIRE TRASH WATCH ALONG HERE. That said, there is a GREAT analysis of Sky’s character here (that I totally enjoy and want to be true, but I think gives Mame too much credit).
Fahlanruk (Sun GaGa) 4 of 12 - So Fah’s bf cheated first? Okay, still doesn’t justify his behavior. Honestly, I really can’t stand this show. Now we are playing a game of how long can I go before dropping it.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Takara-kun and Amagi-kun (Japan Thurs GaGa & Viki) 7 of 8 - these two pretty much define awkward. Takara because he is trying desperately to keep his cool reserve (and perform perfect seme) while simultaneously being so in love/lust with Amagi in high school where desire is, by definition and practice, uncool. Amagi is all frenetic movements and angles, like he cannot control his limbs or his emotions, everything is deeply confusing to him including Takara’s affection. Watching them stumble around each other and agonize over every little movement and conversation is an exercise in joy, patience, and agony. It’s all so “teenager” I can hardly stand it. This episode, however, was more about Tanaka coping with learning his friend is 1. not straight and 2. deeply in love with an adorable weirdo. It was a quieter ep than I expected but sweet. “He said something cute and I couldn’t help myself“ is so traditional Japanese seme in one sentence I can’t even.
Kabe Koji (Japan Mon Viki) 1 of 10 - basically this is A Man Who Defies the World of BL + Senpai This Can’t be Love (as @heretherebedork said). Nakao Masaki playing a sunshine bouncy himbo character is a fucking revelation, I didn’t think he had it in him. But our tsundere uke is far too tsundere for me, and despite the premise (AN IDOL LOVE INTEREST!) I do not not really like it. I just hate the stalker photograph obsession thing (My Engineer, SCOY, STCBL, now this) and I can’t support a character that starts out this way, it’s apparently a trigger I didn’t know I had until BL tried to romanticize it. I love Nakao Masaki (in a non stalker, no photos kind of way) so I might muscle through but...
Once Again (Korea Fri GaGa) 7-8fin - Cute date plus hand holding and a mild but sweet moot kiss does not a satisfying ending make. They are great boyfriends even if only for a few days. As expected, like Kissable Lips, this one ends sad. Can’t stop the Koreans when a temporal paradox and death is on the line. They do love their tragedy, not to mention unavoidable fate. 2/10 NOT RECOMMENDED
Tumblr media
It’s Airing But I’m Not Watching It
War of Y - 20 eps A spy have reported in on a spoiler assessment of the first 2 installments here. 2 more to go.
Oh My Sunshine Night 16 eps - I’m scared it’s gonna be sad, so I’m waiting for spies to tell me it’s safe, so far reported to be quite the soap opera.
To Sir With Love AKA Khun Chai 10 eps - dito OMSN, so I’m holding until it finishes its run.
My Roommate - 32 eps of 2 minutes each? Terrible production values, worse than the pulps. I not bothering.
In Case You Missed It
180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us had a sad end, or at least, not a happy one, so I will not be watching it. I’m happy to leave it permanently listed dnf. 2022 will be the year I dnf’d the most BL, partly because there’s so much of it. (Thailand is at 108 BLs and counting this year).
I talk a lot on this blog about linguistics (language intersecting with culture) here’s a fun podcast from Hidden Brain on How language shapes our perspective on life.
Tumblr media
Gossip
HIStory 5 is coming! Called HIStory5: Love in the Future. Since it’s going to be the only one under the 5 moniker I’ll probably default (like it did with H4) to just calling it H5.
That omegaverse Thai BL got cancelled. Probably because of the fuss being kicked up about it. I am sad. No trash watch for me. Maybe Japan will still do one at some point.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media
Starting: Remember Me starts tomorrow, Thai (Sun Gaga)1 of 8. 2 Moons 3 Thai (Mon ??) 1 of 10. Roommates of Poongduck 304 (Korea Thurs Viki) 1 of 8. SELF Thai (Thurs ??). My Tooth Your Love (Taiwan Fri Gaga & Viki) 1 of 12. Hard Love Mission Thai (Sat WeTV & iQiyi?). Wish Me Luck Thai (Sat ??).
I’m traveling so I may not be able to watch the ones I already have in rotation, let alone track down the new babies. You on your own peeps, best of luck!
Honestly Thailand, too many. You gotta stop now. We saturated.
FULL October 2022 line up is here.
This week’s best moments?
Tumblr media
The return of That Staircase in Eclipse!
Tumblr media
Tell us something we don’t know, Aye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Breaking news: Cute bit is very cute.
Tumblr media
Work from Heart: I just love the sniff test trope (AKA I like the way he smells) one of my favs.
Tumblr media
Although neck kisses are good too, thanks Ai Long Nhai.
Tumblr media
Activating seme agressive tendencies.
Tumblr media
Bisexual rep, yes please!
Tumblr media
And a direct address of drunk one night stand regrets. You’re doing well little pulp.
Tumblr media
Such boyfriends.
Tumblr media
The most seme line in a BL ever.

Wishlist
Random ideas I'd like to see. These are by no means comprehensive or in any particular order and I'm down with lots of plotting/changes to initial idea, these are just some things off the top of my head to help facilitate plotting. You can view the wishlist tag itself by clicking here. This got long woops so I'll put it all under a cut.
With Anyone/General Scenarios
Hotel Dad Alastor - maybe he shouldn't have told Charlie he viewed her as his spawn. I feel like such a bold claim should have consequences.
Alastor is injured after the fight and is dealing with it. The other muse does not believe that he's fine (maybe he is, maybe he isn't) and wants to help.
Alastor is injured after the fight and is taken advantage of (dark thread)
corruption thread! slower burn, Alastor just being a general creeper and influencing those around him in a negative way. Or someone corrupting him but I feel like that might be harder to plot for.
muse as one of Alastor's contractees and has to deal with having a weird creepy boss
found family stuff I'm a sucker for it
Alastor joining the Vees. How willing he is can be variable. Maybe he joined when Vox asked? Maybe he lost the fight with Vox and one of the Vees ended up holding his leash 7 years ago. Maybe he finally relented after coming back from his sabbatical. Bonus points for anyone trying to convince him to change his name to Valastor or something equally dumb with a V to match the rest of them (he refuses, tyvm)
redeemed!Alastor - Great Alastor, altruist, did die for his friends. He's not happy about this. No one is happy about this. Falling from Heaven any% speedrun go! Or maybe Heaven figures out a way to use him against Hell?
human!AU with Alastor as serial killer dating a horror/crime writer like this post
IDK I just like political intrigue
With Charlie
AU where Alastor is, in fact, dating Charlie like he insinuated at the beginning of Episode 5 before switching tactics to be a father figure. This is probably not a healthy ship but it could be
Hotel Dad Alastor - you made the claim my guy, time to stick with it
IDK make him sit in therapy or something. He's not a resident, he's staff, but he should set a good example right? Or maybe she wants to try out some psychology stuff she's read about and get his opinion before testing it on the resident(s)
them working together on some project for the hotel or something else
field trips to Cannibal Town or elsewhere - for someone raised in Hell, she doesn't really seem to know much about her people
With Husk
role reversal, Husk owns Alastor's soul
Overlord Husk - stuff in the past leading up to the game where Husk lost his soul
aftermath and time following Alastor getting Husk's soul
With Lucifer
Lucifer and Alastor having to deal with each other, I just want banter and maybe reluctant co-parenting/co-hosting at the hotel.
Something based on the Mutual Satisfaction comic by @/Fernrynn on Twitter, first page is here but the rest is easy enough to find (tw: gore, canniballism), - Lucifer makes a deal with Alastor to provide his meals. Probably more of a horror thread tbh?
I like RadioApple of all flavors. Lucifer and Alastor dealing with starting to like someone they can't stand and having to deal with feelings is a fun dynamic.
With Vox
Them meeting and working together, Alastor taking a newly spawned Vox under his wing.
AU where they continue working together and the 'Vees' didn't happen (idk I love the idea of 'the Media Demons/Broadcast Husbands' getting a rep and showing up at the hotel in the pilot instead of just Alastor)
the point leading up to and including where Alastor and Vox split. I high key headcanon this happened in the 70s/80s when Valentino showed up. An ultimatum was given, and Vox chose Val. Super negotiable on the reason for the split though.
AU where Alastor loses the fight 7 years ago and ends up working for Vox. Or the other way around? Either is good.
Vox and Alastor team up for some reason during/after the series, possibly reconciling, possibly not
RadioStatic of all flavors, unrequited/unspoken/QPR/exes/anything. I fucking love RadioStatic
corrupt priest or corrupt nun AU? AU where one is getting tempted by a devil? both tempting an NPC? Idk Vox's priest getup in ep 2 and Alastor's nun outfit in ep 5 had me thinking

what is your opinion of your Geth?
deep breath OKAY. ohhh boy. here we go.
I was a "this is my OC, a sentient robot struggling with their humanity" sort of teen, which is just code for "ace and neurodivergent but doesn't know it yet", & when Legion showed up I was like, oh ok I see! I need to protect this guy with my life. stupidly long response incoming-
I love the geth so much ok. I've got a few unfinished doodles of Legion lying around because I LOVE drawing robots so much and Legion's design is just so neat, I'm really looking forward to working on their stained glass piece because mechanical stuff and stained glass go together better than one would think! It makes me sad that you can't explore all of their dialogue in ME2 without killing the Normandy's crew :( I don't remember for sure but I think I actually installed a mod that lets you talk to them more before the suicide mission, genuinely wish they'd gotten more screen time!! The geth are one of the few intelligent aliens we see whose thoughts and society are completely and truly alien and I love that!!
BUT I think ME2/3 could've handled them so much better. Especially ME3. Ok I really don’t like what ME3 does to the geth. I like ME3, but there’s a lot of things I need to mentally slap a headcanon bandage over and the geth are one of them.
The fact that they're genuinely alien and don't think the same way or view themselves as individuals the same way organics do doesn't make them any less sentient? I would've liked it so much better to see everyone overcome the challenges of understanding something that thinks in a completely different way, rather than one side having to fundamentally change to make peace possible. I loved the fact that in ME2 they didn’t seem to want to become more ‘human’/organic! Legion was already ‘alive’ before the Reaper code upgrades. Those units have a soul in Mass Effect 2 too! I just don’t really like “already clearly sentient robot has to change themselves to think more like a typical human” plots :( (glances at Data from Star Trek.. my boy you are just autistic)
I also don't like that the peaceful resolution to the geth/quarian conflict involves Legion uploading Reaper code upgrades. It just doesn't make narrative sense? We get so, so, SO many examples throughout the course of the game of a) the geth using Reaper tech and being indoctrinated, and b) other people trying to use Reaper tech for their own purposes and having it backfire big-time. ME1: The geth are controlled by Reapers so you have to kill them. ME2: The geth heretics are controlled by the Reapers because of Reaper code so you have to kill/rewrite them. ME3: The geth are being controlled by the Reapers so you have to… give them more Reaper code???
I always make peace between the geth and quarians because I love Legion and Tali, and I know there's a happy ending there so I can headcanon away a better explanation. But when I played for the first time, I had no spoilers, zero outside knowledge, and I chose to destroy the geth, because if I were Shepard in that situation and Legion was telling me they wanted to upload Reaper code because this time it's gonna be different we promise, I would not let them do that???
But APART FROM THAT I love the geth. I would've loved to see more of the geth interacting with other aliens in the galaxy after peace is made, and what impact that would have on their society. They were initially slaves, and then almost completely isolated themselves from organic life. And sure, they did some observing, but actually interacting with the other races would've been a whole different ball game, and it would've been so COOL to see the geth explore not only other cultures/societies and be surprised when they were unable to accurately predict the actions of individual organics, but also to see how they develop in relation to that, how it changes the way they see themselves. How they'd have to learn to effectively communicate with organics when they're used to sharing information at lightspeed. How they as a species would navigate political or interpersonal, rather than physical, conflict... I just wish we got more geth content bc they’re one of my favorite aliens & I really hope ME5 gives us more geth

General Headcanons - Donatello
We're back at it again with some more general headcanons! This time I have some for my personal favorite: Donatello. Keep in mind these are not for one specific version of Donnie. Enjoy!
Last but not least is Mikey!
Word count: 636
Tumblr media
It should come as no surprise that Donnie loves to read. The genre he’s interested in tends to vary from day to day. One day he’ll be reading non-fiction and the next day he’ll be reading fantasy.
Donnie loves getting book recommendations from April or Leo (Mikey and Raph are more into comics). He’ll grab a little stack of books, including some recommendations, and binge read when he has the free time.
Surprisingly, it takes a lot for Donnie to get mad. Sure, he gets irritated when his brothers are pestering him while he's trying to work or sometimes his inventions don't go as planned but like Leo he has a lot of patience. He will never get to the point where he starts yelling at people unless someone finds a way to push him past his limit.
He turns his music all the way up when he's working in his lab, and honestly it could be anything. Like books, Donnie's choice in music tends to vary from day to day. Sometimes he'll turn on some classic rock, other times it will be K-Pop. Really it's whatever he wants to vibe to that day.
Donnie is very simple when it comes to pizza. He's all for a plain cheese pizza, but really loves a good veggie pizza every once and a while. He'll eat pepperoni but he doesn't like all the grease.
He really likes to observe people in their surroundings simply because he finds human life so interesting. It's something he will never get the chance to experience, but his natural curiosity makes him want to know all about it.
Donnie just enjoys being in the company of others. Sometimes he's in his lab for so long he forgets to get out and get some fresh air. Mikey is usually the one that will invite him to play video games or hang out, but Leo and Raph invite him to do things with them too like meditating or getting a workout in.
Oh boy... Donnie is not the best at taking care of himself. He tends to pull multiple all-nighters which seriously messes with his sleep schedule and he has a bad habit of skipping meals. He'll try to drink a protein shake or eat a protein bar to try to get something in his stomach but even then he'll still forget to eat.
He tends to get "tunnel vision" when working on projects or even doing stuff in his free time. And speaking of, Donnie doesn't really make a lot of time for his hobbies outside of reading. For example, Donnie really likes coding. But he won't set aside an hour just to sit and learn a new skill for fun. His mind is always in "work mode."
Donnie sometimes feels like he could be doing more to contribute to the team. He's not the strongest, and he knows that. So in order to try to compensate for it by constantly coming up with inventions or improving things around the lair. He really needs to validation that what he's already contributing is more than enough.
Donnie gets overstimulated pretty easily, even thouh he sometimes doesn't realize it and he thinks that he's just super frustrated at first. However, when he does notice he's getting overstimulated he'll make his way to his room and lay in bed. He really likes super soft things so he has lots of super soft pillows and blankets on his bed.
He knows some different grounding techniques to calm his mind too. Donnie will also find some sort of comfort media to watch, whether that be a movie, TV show, or something on YouTube.
Donnie is genuinely one of the kindest souls anyone will ever meet. He's always looking out for his friends and family in his own unique way.

hii! idk if you do this stuff but do you have tips on how to start build an acc? like mutuals followers just general stuff. i'm kinda stuck lmao.
ahhh this one is a hard one to do. if im being honest, i’ve had this account for a while, at least since 2017 😬 buutttt i took a look at your account, im liking the vibes.
when it comes to fanfiction and building an account, usually you have to start writing and posting. i would suggest looking at some of your favorite writers, especially on tumblr if it’s gonna be your main domain and see how they layout their post and try to do something similar.
i’m going to use my acc as an example but there’s many other ways you can go about this.
Tumblr media
when i’m looking for fanfiction, i like to see the title of the fic and the person that im looking for specifically. i do it as the title of the fic, some people have it in the body of the text posts.
Tumblr media
next i try to summarize it to let people know what it’s going to be about. when i look for fanfic, i have something in mind that i want. i always put warnings because it’s the easiest thing to do/keep track of. sometimes fics can get heavy.
i put a word count in case someone doesn’t want to get caught up in a long fic and they’re just looking for something short and sweet.
and notes is where i put anything important. for that fic, it was the fact that it was based on the taylor swift song. if you’re ever writing based off a certain episode of a show, i would put: spoiler: season x, episode x. or s2ep3. something in that general format.
next comes your fanfiction. people will either love it or hate it. and that’s totally fine. you can put your heart and soul into something and they don’t have to like it. you’re just putting your works out on the market, if they wanna read they will!! if they wanna come back, they’ll follow!!
Tumblr media
and tagging is probably the most important way to get traction, in my opinion. i have curated this tagging system over a couple years. it seems to work pretty well. the only rule that i NEVER break is that i DO NOT tag fandoms or characters that are not the main interest of the fic 🙅‍♀️
for example, if the fanfic is about finnick, there is no way that i’m tagging a side character like katniss just for existing inside of it. it clogs up the katniss tags.
anywayyy, that’s my unsolicited advice for writing in general. you just gotta write and post. people will find it in the tags. will you get a bunch of likes/reblogs overnight? not at first. but as long as your works are consistently good, people will follow and come back.
followers on tumblr are not a huge deal. most of the time, people are finding your fics through the search function. they’ll like and move on. if your writing sticks out, that’s when they search your account.
i do not base my entire account around followers either. people will follow and then won’t interact for a loooonggggg time. or ever again. there’s nothing you can really do about it. it’s nice to see a high number but it’s not the end of the world
AND when it comes to mutuals? i don’t really have a lot of advice. i got a lot of my mutuals from the colby brock fandom (shout out to them) back when it was like 15 of us and we were running the whole fanfiction game lol. we still follow each other, but hardly interact.
and it’s kinda the same for some of my other mutuals 🤷‍♀️ i love them all. i think about them sometimes. if we talk to each other, that’s great. if not, i’m not gonna get all uptight about it. life gets in the way and we lose interest in shit.
mutuals are nice if you’re boosting each other’s fics. or to talk to about the latest news with the fandom. yknow. they’re just an internet friend.
i hope this helps? this is just the basic stuff too. when it comes to layout and colors and making your profile look all aesthetic-y, you figure it out over time. i’ll be here if you have any questions 😊
edit: also, make sure you turn on anonymous questions!! people usually like to request fics on anon!!

I'm still gonna make that compilation of some moments of Eggman being shitty to his robots and of course certain ones Gerald worked on and a creation of his, as they're supposed to have Maria's soul, yet they're trying to relate Sage to Maria too. It will also include how he views robots that have feelings and see people as family, stuff like that. Then I'll stop talking about it so much because I'll just be able to easily pull it up.
But damn it's giving me even more thoughts of things I haven't said yet
Because wow I'm not going to be able to include ALL the times modern Eggman has treated Orbot and Cubot like shit alone, verbally and physically in various media, and the implications of how they're startled and flinch from sudden movements and raising of volume of his voice. There's a lot and I just keep thinking back to more, including more obscure stuff but even a pretty big amount in games that I will show. And this goes all the way up to TSR, so it's as recent as the last canon game pre Frontiers.
So Orbot and Cubot being like "brothers" to Sage, which would be like making them like "sons" to Eggman by extension of him calling her his "daughter," is very concerning alone. That part didn't even occur to me for a while aside from the obvious of yeah, he's obviously never been fatherly to them. But it's not just what he isn't, it's also how the way we do actually see him treating them instead is awful, even more so when bringing up this new implication in Frontiers. I'll put as many of the best examples I can in my video so you can see.
With all that in mind, Eggman would surely have to tell Orbot and Cubot to not tell Sage about it because it would be very concerning, how her father is willing to agree to the idea of them being like brothers to her with the way he's been treating them for so long in many terrible ways. Because if you go by it meaning they're also like sons to him as a result... Yeah wtf, that implies a lot of really bad things. You can't deny it is fucked up that he's done all that to them and how he would definitely have to keep it from Sage.
This only keeps getting worse the harder I think about it. It makes the scene of the English version Eggman deciding to agree to the idea of Orbot and Cubot being like Sage's siblings and then actually calling her his daughter especially far from cute and wholesome. Not just for what Eggman might do because of the person he is, but for what we have seen him do officially to Orbot and Cubot, her new "brothers", for so long. Looking at it that way, you could use it as an official example already that he doesn't treat his own "children" well.

Chronicling The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - The Invisible Hand that Guides the Player
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If there is something that I can't help but keep praising when I take my notes, it's the invisible hand that guides the player. This refers to how the developers leave all sorts of hints, environmental clues, or take into account how the player might approach each area in order to guide them to what they need to do, without the player realizing they're being guided.
This is a concept well beloved by many though rarely talked about in casual circles. I've seen a lot of discussion surrounding how modern games have taken a more head-on focus, due to the gaming landscape we find ourselves in. A lot of players nowadays prefer a more direct option of being informed. Waypoints, characters giving you the answer to the puzzle, yellow tape showing you what's important.
While I think these are all fine and likely suit their games better, I do think that the Developers' Invisible Guiding Hand (DIGH) is something people need to talk about more and show appreciation for. Because in the modern gaming landscape, a lot of people don't have the time or patience to figure out hints or be gently guided through a dungeon. They want to be able to stop and go when they want, and not be confused when they come back after a short session.
I think the problem is also exacerbated by the fact that people often look up the answers online. This is in my opinion a sign that the DIGH has failed, because the answer to a solution should never be locked behind looking it up online (unless of course, the explicit point is to make it hard to figure out, like puzzle games, detective games, or even something like Dark Souls).
As for Twilight Princess, I notice the DIGH all the time. Whenever I feel smart about a decision I made, I look around me and try and think about what the developers possibly did to make me come to this conclusion. And a lot of the time, I find the most subtle, most delicate of hints. Stuff that makes me wonder if I'm actually seeing an intentional thing by the designers, or if I'm just over-analyzing.
Given example: the start of the City in the Sky. When you first drop in, you land in water. Looking around this basin you will find two chests. The player then would equip the iron boots to go and collect these two chests before surfacing. Assuming the player doesn't immediately switch out the iron boots, when they walk over the bridge, they will realize the wind is blowing. By having the iron boots selected, and having just used them, it becomes very easy for the player to put the two together and equip the iron boots to make them able to withstand the wind.
This is about as invisible and guiding as it gets. You don't have to have opened the previous chests to figure out iron boots weigh you down, it's something the game has been teaching you the whole playthrough. But because of recency, and by making you use the iron boots for something else first, the developers can immediately plant the idea in your head that hey, the iron boots are going to be useful here.
I could ramble on and on about the countless examples I found, but I'll leave that to players to find for themselves.
Though I do want to touch on another subject related to this, which is when the DIGH fails. I've up until now not had to look up anything to get past, which is a good feeling. It's nice to know this game succeeded at guiding me through everything, especially since Midna isn't of much help. It goes to show that the developers really put care into making sure the player knows what to do, and never gets lost for long.
Tumblr media
That is until just before the boss room, where I got stuck trying to figure out how to reach this grappable Peahat in the ceiling. After finally figuring it out and feeling proud of figuring it out on my own, I felt total defeat, as I grabbed on and couldn't make it budge. I didn't get it, what was missing? I looked around the room, I bonked my head against the wall, I couldn't figure it out. I knew I would need to look up a guide eventually to find all the Poes, heart pieces, and bugs I needed for 100% completion. So after 15 minutes or so I gave in and looked up a guide.
YOU HAVE TO USE THE IRON BOOTS?! WHY?!?!
All that praise from earlier felt just a bit sour in my mouth. Why put the single Peahat in this whole dungeon here, needing the iron boots.
It's not like you don't have the iron boots with you the whole time. It's not like iron boots are the key preventing you from pulling this Peahat early. Why on earth did they make this one require iron boots??
And of course, I feel stupid for not getting it. "If you can't weigh it down on your own, make yourself heavier" I told myself. But no! Screw that! There is no reason why this Peahat should require more weight, and there is no clear indication that weight was the missing key. For all I knew, the Peahat could be attached to something above and be stuck.
And this paints a stark contrast to what I said before about the DIGH. This is what players don't want to deal with. For every subtle hint, every gentle push in the right direction, every postman letter that comes just when you don't know where to go — you may have a single one of these moments, and it's what players will remember. I remember countless times where I've had to look stuff up, and either felt frustrated because "I could have figured that out if I gave it another 10 minutes..." or because "I would have never been able to figure that out in a million years.
Part of the frustration lies right there. You don't know how far away or how close you are to getting the answer yourself. Looking up the answer is never satisfying, it just feels like conceit. To give up and say "You win, game". But really? It's not the game that won. It's the game that lost. 'Cause it's the game's job to make sure you get through it with the tools and knowledge that you've built up yourself.
And I think that is one of many reasons why games nowadays rarely do DIGH anymore. It's better to be overkill, to make sure no player is left behind, even if that means there's little challenge to overcome anymore.

TOM propaganda:
"He's voiced by Steve Blum, he likes anime and he respects women."
"The coolest robot you'll ever meet once a week. No really. Toonami is program block that usually hosts anime but is for action cartoons in general and is on Adult Swim ever Saturday night/Sunday morning (12am-usually 3 or 4am). Anyway, here's some stuff about him specifically. He's voiced by Steve Blum doing his Spike Spiegal voice but was originally voiced by Sonny Strait. And the reason for more than one voice actor isn't just 'they decided to change his voice'. No, they gave that decision its own lore. See, T.O.M. has several different incarnations (there are T.O.M.s 1-6) that usually come to be when the current incarnation gets killed during one of the stories they show that provide said lore. He went from voiced by Sonny Strait as T.O.M. 1 pre-The Intruder, the first of these stories, to voiced by Steve Blum as T.O.M. 2-current.
Some examples of these stories have been: blob/slime like monster invades his ship and essentially eats him, his ship gets stuck in a tractor beam of a trash compactor ship that's running on pure autopilot, a sentient computer virus infects his ship (along with its AI and his best friend) so he jacks into the mainframe to fight it, that same blob/slime monster comes back years later but intelligent after his first body was properly assimilated into it, planet he and his AI friend are stranded on is threatening to implode onto itself and they have to find a way off before they go with it, the new ship they got during the last adventure gets zapped by alien lighting (? idk it was a nebulous storm that acted almost virus like) and there's time travel shenanigans involved and everyone is traumatized a bit, their ship gets hacked and forced to come the space station where robots that look just like T.O.M. are being made as...basically slave labor bots and he has to work to shut the place down and free them. They also get incredibly traumatized in that one too, but because of how little story there's been since then you wouldn't be able to tell by first glance.
Anyway, he also looks cool, with his third incarnation being the fan favorite for having a shape that looks like it has muscles? IDK man. He usually just has a 'visor' for a face, taking place where a human's facial features would go...except for one time he had both eyes and mouth which fans didn't like. I don't mind that incarnation though cuz I grew up with him. Plus, through means we still don't have the full answer to, that incarnation has actually been revealed to be like a twin/clone of the aforementioned T.O.M. 3. Like they have the same memories up until their 'birth' and stuff. For his current body (and honestly my favorite cuz he looks cool :)) T.O.M. 6, he has a cool feature with his visor in which projected images can be shown through, like when they had him wearing a digital costume during Halloween two years in a row that had a flaming jack o' lantern on it.
Personality wise- he's sardonic and cool, but actually also a big nerd. He's also a very loyal friend. If you were his best friend and got corrupted by evil, he'd try literally everything before taking action against you (like he did in aforementioned story about time travel). This loyalty could also be a bad thing as sometimes he puts his loved ones' needs over his own, letting himself get sacrificed so the others can get to safety. He's also an avid gamer. One who canonically raged quit Dark Souls and threw a game out the airlock cuz he couldn't get past one of the levels no matter how many times he tried.
A karaoke program insulted his singing during one of the stories and for years fans (or at least I was) were convinced because of this that he couldn't sing until an intro for the block like last year where he sang like five seconds of a sea shanty and it sounded pretty good.
Uhhh what else... IDK man I just really like him... I love this traumatized weeb robot in space and hopefully this all was a good reasoning as to why. He's so cool. Look up 'Toonami Total Immersion Events' if you can, those are the stories I mentioned."

Other stuff:
**TWTNW inside false Kingdom Hearts features a brief scene where you walk on top of rooftops, which is where the Yozora fight idea comes from.
**In the first fight with Xemnas in the illusion Memory's Skyscraper, Sora walks up to the Skyscraper, which is where the walking walls mechanic in KH3 comes from. Would have prefer it to be more parkour like, though.
***Floaty combat of later games obviously comes from Final Form's Glide Ability, just like how Shotlock comes from Wisdom Form's shoot.
**Pluto immediately goes into Naminé's Corridor of Darkness, obviously because she smells like Kairi.
***Pluto's initial connection to Sora in KH1, as everybody knows, was also because of smell of Kairi, since her heart was inside Sora, and that was an early hint towards that.
****Pluto's connection to Kairi, or "Kairis" in general might be due to her White Magic, which presumably smells similar to Minnie.
**Kinda sh*tty that both KH2 ending, and The Gathering makes a lot of deal about King Mickey being one of the Keyblade bearing heroes that helped to defeat Xemnas, even though Kairi literally got hers scenes ago.
***Kinda shittier that BBS also forgot about that.
****Let's ignore that whole Keyblade obssession of later series for a moment, since that will be a later post.
****
Other notes:
**Armored Xemnas is using lances to fight to you, in addition his big sword. The lances are based off Xaldin's, though they are likely meant to allude to final form Ansem SoD's Soul Eater lance.
**The white Nobody lasers have bases shaped like ice crystals, alluding to Vexen, though the way they work alludes to Roxas.
***These are meant to show that Xemnas, in his mind, is fighting his comrades' fight.
**As Xemnas says in the final scene with Ansem the Wise, his goal to give all Nobodies hearts, to make them into Somebodies. Due to his obsession with the Keyblade, you are supposed to assume "granting Keyblade bearing hearts".
***My initial assumption was Nomura based off this from the Arrancar arc, but apparently that was after this game. So Kubo stole this from Nomura.
***Since Nobody with a different, but compatible heart becomes a different person, until the original heart is restored, this would allow Xemnas to retain Nobodies' Nobody personalities, while making true recompletion difficult. So for example, Axel wouldn't recomplete as Lea, but rather become Axel as a Somebody.
****Org 13 members, and Nobodies are assuming Xemnas would bother with finding their original heart first, and create a sufficient copy of the original is not found, but this is clearly not Xemnas's intention (since Org 13 is meant to be hosts for 13 Darknesses).
*****Presumably, after this point, he would make them Nort Horcruxes, but that would be a failsafe of his failure, not the main intention.
**As heard in Xemnas's little chant, he is trying to use darkness inside the hearts to control false Kingdom Hearts, which is similar to what Master Xehanort later would do with the x-blade in KH3 (though he would use his own darkness primarily, well, his, and his vessels', and the Heartless/Unversed/Nobodies that listen to him).
**Xemnas's Zebra outfit's pattern is supposed to be a dragon, as seen on the back.
***This continues on Roxas's dragon motif.
**I like to think Terra's back is still hurting from this fight, and he has no idea why.
**For those wondering why Org 13 members are not dead, black coats. Normally, when a Nobody dies, if their Heartless wasn't defeated first, their bodies goes to Realm of Darkness to be assimilated to elemental darkness, and leftover goes to Realm of Nothingness to be erased from existence'''. Since black coats protect from darkness, the assimilation process does not occur as fast as it should have, allowing their hearts to reconnect, and recomplete the person.
***This also means that all generic Nobodies you defeated are going to be not just dead, but super-dead. So, good job, Sora. You erased Kairi's childhood hotdog vendor from existence.
****Though recompleted Org 13 members should still probably have yellowish eyes, due to darkness corruption.
'''If the Nobody is corrupted with darkness. If the Nobody is full of light (even if it is a corrupted form of light), then it presumably gets assimilated to Kingdom Hearts instead, like it was a heart, but leftover is still deleted from existence, though presumably without going to Realm of Nothingness. Better have a white coat to protect you like data Strelitzia, I guess.
**Though Ansem SoD is not actually defeated by the gang (it is defeated by true Kingdom Hearts manifesting from false one in KH1), Xemnas is actually defeated, despite having false Kingdom Hearts' power (much like Saix did). This shows Sora, and Riku's power level at the time.
***Same is true for the Sora-Donald-Goofy vs. Xehanort, and KH3 gang vs. Xehanort's Darkness in Re:Mind.
****I would say how power leveling in KH is insane, but Sora has created 3 hearts (Xion-Naminé-Roxas) already, so he already has like around %25-50 of the power of Kingdom Hearts.
