Thorin's Company When You Call Everyone Pet Names
Part 2 of the request by @fly-on-my-sweet-angel for The Hobbit this time 😘 once again doing everyone hehe 😈
Balin
Balin remains tacit about your habit, chuckling it off as not much serious when you do it to him and his brother and his cousin and…well, everybody. It’s obviously not unique to him in any which way, though hearing you call him ‘honey’ does have quite the ring to it. Not one for pet names himself, he wracks his brain to come up with some way to mirror your affection, finally settling upon making a point to use your name often, smiling softly as he speaks it.
Dwalin
He gives you a bit of a frown as you ask him “Can you pass the water, sweetheart?” “Sweetheart? Never call me that again.” Leaning forward, you give him a sugary smile. “Alright, then. What about honey? Love?” Dwalin’s frown remains. “Do you think I’ve lived this long and gotten these scars to get ‘love’d by a-” “Alright, my apologies,” you put your hands up in mock-defense, “o fine warrior.” At that last name, a flush crept across Dwalin’s cheeks, widening your smile rapidly. You’d remember that one for later.
Thorin
Are you imagining things or does Thorin frown when you call one of the others your little names? Experimentally, you try it again intently the next time you require some assistance. “Dwalin, honey, would you mind putting another log on the fire?” Sure enough, Thorin’s ease seems to falter; your eyes briefly widen, but you catch yourself in time for one more experiment. “And Thorin, darling, didn’t you want some tea?” The king speaks not, but he nods, a small smile returning to his face.
Oin
Step one is checking his hearing, trumpet engaged and pointed right at you. “Pardon?” Smiling, you repeated yourself. “I just asked if I could have a cup of tea, love.” Oin can’t stop the shock from crossing his face, his lips falling into an ‘o’ shape as he looks back up at you. “O-of course! Take whatever you like! Did you want something else in it?” You giggle, probably at how flustered he gets, and shake your head before inclining it in thanks at his offering.
Gloin
Gloin definitely asks you to repeat yourself the first time he catches you calling him dear. Double down and that’s when trouble begins. “Listen to this one,” he teases you, “oh Dori darling, get the tea on.” “Only if Bombur dear lets me use the pot for it,” Dori joins in with a chuckle. “Sure thing!” Bombur just agrees, jolly as always. Rolling your eyes, you just give him a playful shove. “You know you love me.” Gloin scoffs, but his typically gruff expression melts into a smile. “Maybe.”
Bifur
Sometimes it was hard to read everyone’s expressions; the dwarves in Thorin’s company ranged from highly, almost comically expressive to deadpan faces that puzzled you to try to read. Thus when one came about, you leaned over and rested a hand on the dwarf’s shoulder. “Bifur, sweetheart, are you doing alright?” The often quiet dwarf’s eyes widened at your touch, his head swiveling to fix you with a direct look. Glancing down at his bowl, then back at you, he nodded vigorously, an eager smile across his face. Bofur and Bombur burst out laughing at the two words their cousin spoke. At your look, Bofur explained that he had replied “Yes, darling”!
Bofur
Your habits seemed to have earned you a name of your own, you noticed. One of the dwarves had picked up your ways or else resigned to pay them forward. Not that you minded- in fact, a word like those that had always been mindless for you suddenly sped your heartbeat like nothing else. “Where are you going, sunshine?” Bofur asked you, catching you stepping away from camp. “Just heading to the stream for some water, hun,” you replied, face warming. “Alright,” he acquiesced with a smile, “don’t be off too long, alright?” “I won’t.”
Bombur
You were just the sweetest thing, so caring, so parental. Bombur requested your help dishing up every single night just to hear you as you handed bowls off. "Here you go, Balin dearest. Oh, you want more, honey? Darling, let everyone else have a shot first, Gloin’s not gotten any!" Bombur's heart fluttered at it every time, and it practically exploded when your addresses turned to him. "Bombur, love, need any more help?" "A-actually...the princes haven't brought their dishes, do you mind-" "Not at all." You gave him the brightest smile he'd ever seen before turning and calling toward the tree line. "Fili! Kili!" How, Bombur couldn't help wondering, had no one snatched you up yet?
Dori
Dori is the only dwarf brave, stupid, or affectionate enough, likely the latter, to mirror your habit. The two of you, in fact, have gotten into something of a back-and-forth about it all. “Don’t you think you ought to eat something, dear?” Dori asked you, holding out a slice of bread and some meat. “I had some broth earlier, love, so I’m well, thanks.” “You’ve got to keep up your strength, though, darling, just have a little something.” Eyes bouncing between you two, Ori and Nori shook their heads. “They’re like an old married couple.”
Nori
“Nori dearest, put that down, please.” Smirking, Nori tilted his head, his face inches from yours. “And why should I, darling?” "Because I said so,” you replied. “What, no more little names?” Nori shot back in mock hurt. “Not if you’re going to make fun of me,” you teased, “only people who are nice to me get them.” At that, the usually cocky, jolly dwarf’s cheeky look fell a bit, prompting surprise to cross your own face. “You thought I was makin’ fun of you? And here I was hoping you were serious.”
Ori
“Ori, honey, that’s excellent!” The company’s youngest had opened his sketchbook, revealing his latest drawing of a doe that had passed camp in the morning’s wee hours. As always, it was amazingly rendered and just an absolute delight- the lad truly had a gift. Said lad also had quite the red ears all of a sudden. "Thanks," he replied, trailing your name quietly like a little afterthought he'd never admit to almost forgetting, "thought this was one of my nicer ones, the little bugger passed by so nice, and well... I'd like you to have it. Well, if you please of course..." "He's tryin' to tell you he's sweet on you!" Nori bellowed. "Mahal's sake! Yer breakin' his heart always callin' everyone your sweet names!" At the elder brother's admission, you gape. "Is that true?" "Yes," Ori replies, puffing out his chest despite his red cheeks, "that's right."
Fili
“Gloin, dear, you’re going to hurt yourself if you run like that! At least lower your axe just a bit.” Fili smiles as you chastise the older dwarf like a mother hen. Much more endearing than Dori doing it to his brothers or Thorin getting on his and Kili’s case. In fact, he absolutely loves how caring you are to them all, the way you are so unafraid to show your love. Those are qualities he sees value in for a future leader…huh. Should he tell you that someday soon? Might make for a fun reaction to give it right back to you.
Kili
“Kili, love, what on earth are you doing?” “Well, darling, I’ve just been practicing a new move for if I drop my sword. See here.” A smug smile creeps onto your face at how easily he plays along with your little habit. “And what about you, Fili dear?” At that, though, Kili takes pause, steps back into your line of sight looking a bit stunned. “Now wait just a minute. I thought that was our thing. Don’t tell me you fancy him, too?” “I-” Now it’s your turn to pause. Certainly it was just an affectionate habit of yours, but also… you hadn’t really considered reciprocation. Your face warmed at the realization. “Of course I don’t. Consider yourself my only sweetheart.”
Bilbo
He wanted to snap at someone, but what right had he really? It was irrational, plain and simple, to try and tell any of the dwarves to stop doing things that made you call them all the sweet names you did. Bilbo was never the sort who gave pet names any stock, but with you they were like music to his ears. He needed to remind himself day after day, though, that it was simply your habit. Surely the fact that the dwarves were usually ‘honey’ and he was usually ‘sweetness’ just meant they were different…right?

Soo I saw that you were looking for some writing inspiration/requests and I was wondering if you would be interested in writing a Thorin x Reader fic where Reader is part of the company and both of them really admire each other but are too afraid to admit it at first and before they confess their feelings there's some sort of miscommunication?
This just came to my mind and I hope it could inspire you a little :)
hey !! thanks so much for requesting something !! I tired my best but I have not written for Thorin before so sorry if he's a little ooc haha. Also sorry this took so damn long I kept starting and stopping and also screwed up my sleep schedule and then 3 days in a row kept getting stomach aches and just couldn’t write more than three lines T_T. If it feels inconsistent or confusing I’m sorry I got lost in the sauce and COULDN’T FIGURE OUT WHAT I WAS DOING but I hope you enjoy anyway :)
warnings : none details : reader is human, marriage plot that isn’t super important besides like ^^ the request
pre-post edit: I just went back and read the request again and this might not actually be what you asked for so uh, I’m sorry, but I’m gonna post this anyway bc well it’s written but if you don’t like it lmk and I will try again :)

It was safe to stay that Thorin was not the happiest camper when you joined the company, but he couldn't deny that you intrigued him a bit. Only a little though, you must understand.
You had joined the company a fair bit later, when they were stopped by the tolls. You had arrived just before Gandalf and saw the group tied up. You were going to ignore them and just carry on your way, after all it wasn't any of your business. But watching the little hobbit try and stall for time while none of the dwarves caught on was amusing enough for you to lend your aid. You had a talent for sneaking around, you made no noise when you walked, had no scent you left behind, and with little effort could blend into any environment.
You crept up onto the rock behind where the group of dwarves was tied and dug around in your bag until you pulled out a mirror. The sun was coming up and just peaking over the rock that the trolls had been staying behind. Laying down flat you brought the mirror in front of yourself and moved it until it caught the sunlight and began to reflect it. You bounce it around for a moment, attempting to get a good angle. Finally, you hit the troll standing farthest away right in the face, there was a small noise it made but it was cut off by it's mouth turning to stone. Quickly its head and shoulders and chest also turned to stone.
"Huh, you say something?" The one troll that had been talking to the hobbit said as he turned around along with the other one that was standing over by the fire. They both gasped and the one that had been talking to the hobbit rounded on the little guy again, "what did you little ferret do?!"
"Ferret?" The hobbit stuttered for a moment, doing his best to hop away but fell on his butt. "N-Nothing, I- we didn't do anything."
"Why you little-" The troll made to grab the hobbit but you quickly adjusted your mirror and light been to hit the troll on the side of the head. It started to turn to stone and in an attempt to stop it the troll reached up to block the light but only managed to turn his hand to stone. The other troll shrieked in terror.
"The dawn will take you all!" Cried someone from atop the bolder with a booming voice. A second later he slammed his staff down and the bolder cracked in two, letting the sunlight pour through. All the trolls turned quickly to stone and the dwarves set quickly to setting themselves free. You slid back down the bolder and pocketed your mirror. For some reason, you didn't immediately leave.
"I think we owe someone our thanks." Said a older white haired dwarf as he walked up to you. Gandalf followed him.
"Y/n, fancy running into you here, though I can't say I'm upset." The old wizard smiled at you. You smiled back at him.
"Good to see you too, Gandalf." You turned and offered a bow to the old dwarf and "the name's Y/n, at your service."
The old dwarf smiled, he seemed very pleased with your politeness, and bowed back, "Balin, at yours."
"Is this the company you mentioned Gandalf?" You asked turning back to your old friend.
"What do you know of this company?" Came a rumbling deep voice from your left. You hadn't realized that someone else had joined you. His arms were crossed and judging by the slight crease in his brows he was not very happy.
"Ah- well," you cleared your throat and looked to Gandalf for help but he offered none. "You must be Thorin," you bowed the same as you did for Balin. "I know of your journey, Gandalf told me." Yes, blame the old wizard, that's fine.
Thorin turned to Gandalf with a glare, silently demanding an explanation from him. Gandalf cleared his throat and shifted his weight on his feet slightly, "I first asked Y/n to be our burglar, however she refused me."
"I had family business to attend to at the time." You said and Thorin turned his glare onto you, you stiffened slightly and suddenly wished you didn't say anything at all.
"What are you doing here now?" Thorin asked.
"Well... I was looking for you guys. I figured if I followed your road I'd come across you eventually."
"Why?" Thorin was not looking very pleased. You felt small under his stare and began to fiddle with your hands.
"I was hoping that, well, you may have room for another walker in your company?" Your expression changed into something unsure as you shrugged your shoulders. All Thorin did was stare and you glanced at Gandalf for help.
"She can be of use Thorin, she's very quiet this one, great for sneaking around." Gandalf nodded his staff towards you.
"She also did just save our skins." Added Balin and you were very grateful he had not walked off.
Thorin thought for a moment, but it felt like en eternity. He eyed you up and down before turning away and beginning to walk off. "Fine. But don't slow us down. If you do you'll get left behind."
You've been traveling with the company since then. So far you've made very good friends with everyone but particularly Fili, Kili, Balin and Bilbo. Over time you've also begun to greatly admire the leader of this company, Thorin.
You couldn't deny that you thought he was attractive, you had thought that from the moment you met him. But it was more than just looks you liked about him, you admired how much he cared for his people, his sense of duty to bring them back to their home in Erebor. He carries such a huge burden all on his own and is able to do it with grace and dignity, you understood a little of what that meant, though on a much smaller scale. He was brave and even though he was a king he was always first to throw himself into a fight to protect those around him. And even though he seemed cold on the surface it's very obvious that he cares for all his companions and would do whatever it took to make sure they were safe.
"Watcha lookin' at?" You jumped, Kili had his face right next to yours leaning over your shoulder. He laughed and sat on the rock next to you with his back facing the fire, you smack his arm.
"How long were you there?" You grumbled.
"Oh I don't know, long enough to notice you staring dreamily off at my uncle." He clasped his hands together out in front of him and bat his eyelashes at you in a teasing manner before bursting out laughing like someone told the most hysterical joke known to man.
"I was not! I was just thinking and I zoned out..."
"Sure, sure, whatever you say." Kili said once he stopped laughing. "You know you're so obvious right? Everyone sees it."
"Sees what?" You asked with a raised eyebrow and Kili rolled his eyes.
"That you're in love with him!" Kili hit you on the shoulder. "I think it's a good thing personally, Thorin needs someone like you. Someone fun who can lighten his mood, he's always so stoic these days, believe it or not he used to be fun."
"I'm not in love with him." You said and put your chin in your hands, your mood had soured and Kili didn't understand why. "I'm due to be married."
Oh. Oh. Thorin stopped listening.
He had realized you're staring a while ago. He thought, or maybe hoped, that you where staring at him, but it seems you really where just zoned out and didn't realize you where looking in his direction. He started paying attention more when Kili wandered over and tuned in when the two of you started talking. But now he didn't want to listen, you were probably going to go on talking about whoever it is that you're going to be married to and he didn't want to hear it.
"You ok there laddie?" Balin asked appear at his side.
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" And it came out a little more snappy than he would've liked.
"No particular reason, just looked like you were staring off into space. But by your tone it sounds like something is on your mind?" Thorin thought for a moment before deciding he shook his head.
"I'm going for a walk." Was what he settled on and he got up and left.
"You what?!" Kili said in shock. "What do you mean?"
"I mean exactly what I said. Once I go back home I am to be wed."
"You don't sound very happy about it..."
"I'm not." You said. "I don't want to marry him."
"Then why are you?" Kili sounded almost mad. You furrowed your eyebrows at him.
"Because I have to Kili. I'm the oldest in my family and with our dad dead I have to be the one to bring in money somehow. There aren't many jobs for women where I am and this guy has enough money to keep my family off the streets and well fed. The reason I decided to seek out this company and join the adventure is because this is the last one I'll be able to go on..." Kili was silent.
Suddenly he shot up on his feet and rounded the rock to stand in front of you. "Thorin is a king. We are going to reclaim our home that is filled with mountains of gold. Tell Thorin you love him and then you can be happy and save your family! It's as simple as that!"
"Thorin is a king. It's not as simple as that."
Kili was making that face he does when he's confused and upset. Eyebrows creased together, pouting, and over all looking like a sad puppy dog. "Get up," he said and tugged roughly on your arm to pull you to your feet.
"What are you doing?!" You half shouted at him as you tried to pry yourself free. "Let me go you lunatic!"
"I'm looking for my uncle." He said and you froze for a second before beginning to fight him again. "He deserves to be happy and so do you, all it takes is for you to admit your feelings to him."
"How do you know that's all it takes?" You snapped and stopped struggling for a moment. "How do you know he thinks of me in the same way I think of him?"
You were every serious, Kili however was not and was looking at you like you had just said the stupidest thing he had ever heard. He sighed exasperatedly, your face crumpled in confusion. "Where is he? Do you see, Thorin?"
You took a look around the fire, "um, no, I don't."
Thorin was walking through the woods, he could still see the campfire and hear the voices of everyone so he wasn't far if anything went wrong, but he was far enough that he couldn't properly see any of the individual figures. You had a fiancé? You were going to be married. Thorin didn't know how to describe how he was feeling in this moment. Upset? Mad? Disappointed? Perhaps blindsided was the word, but how could just being blindsided by this information be enough to make him feel this bad. Why did he even care so much?
Well actually he knew why he cared so much. It probably had something to do with that intense warmth that spread throughout him whenever he looked at you. That tightening in his chest whenever you smiled, even if it wasn't at him.
He had noticed a while back the way he was beginning to think of you, but he shoved it down. Hid it away in fear that it would start to interfere with this quest. He needed to make a conscious effort to treat you the same as everyone else. But he still always caught himself wondering if you were tired and needed to rest, if you were warm at night, if you had enough to eat or drink. After a battle or after running away from orcs he always made it a point to check on you personally and he couldn't relax until he did so.
When you first met he thought you were attractive. Just a passing acknowledgement that, for a human, you were nice to look at. But over time, after seeing the way you would blend with the others in conversation, how even though you were the best fighter you still valued the others safety and were willing to put yourself at risk, how much Fili and Kili liked you. You were so kind and unassuming and you always offered to help.
One thing that stood out to Thorin, and that he especially admired about you, was that you stood up to him. It might sound weird, but he liked that you questioned him, and when you thought he was wrong you pointed it out. It didn't happen often, but when you did say he was wrong about something you were usually right. You argued with him when no one else did and somehow he thought that was very attractive of you.
He let out a long sigh and rubbed his temples, all of this thinking was useless. And also making him feel worse, like the hole in his chest was growing. The laughing from around the fire tuned him fully back into his surroundings and with one last look around (so he could at least say he was checking the parameter) he started to head back to camp. As he exited the trees and came back into the little clearing he heard the sound of his nephew.
"Aha! There he is!" Looking to his left Thorin saw Kili and he was pulling you with him. Well, not so much pulling as he was dragging, you were tripping over your own feet with every step and looked about ready to fall.
Kili then yanked you forward, practically throwing you into Thorin with a grin on his face that Thorin just knew meant that Kili knew something he didn't. Thorin reached out and caught you before you could face plant. "Kili, what's going on?" You scoffed as you stood up straighter and brushed yourself off, you had a very sour look on your face that just made Thorin more confused and slightly concerned.
"Y/n has something to talk to you about." He said and winked before running off to go whisper about something with his brother. There was a long stretch of silence and it was very quickly becoming awkward.
Thorin cleared his throat, "there's something you wanted to talk to me about?"
You jumped slightly, Thorin was standing there, hands clasped behind his back and face as un-telling as ever. You chuckled, "oh, uh, it's nothing really. Not that important or anything, you know Kili this is just one of his- uh- things..."
Thorin just grunted in response and turned away. You probably could've used this opportunity to run away but for some reason you didn't. There was another long silence, the two of you just standing next to each other and looking at the rest of the company sitting around the fire. At some point you saw Gandalf look over at you two and when he looked away you could've sworn there was a knowing smile on his face.
"I hear you're getting married once you return home after the journey." Thorin said suddenly.
"What?" You said whirling to face him, "how do you know about that?"
"I over heard you and Kili talking about it." He answered simply and without looking at you. You creased your brows before turning back to look at the company and the fire. Thorin glanced at you, "whoever he is, he's a lucky man."
"And I an unlucky woman." You said with a huff. "I don't want to marry him."
"Oh? Why not?" Thorin asked and turned to you.
"Why? Well for one he is the most arrogant self righteous man I have ever met. He thinks he's the gods gift to man and that everyone he interacts with owes him something. The only reason I even agreed to this arrangement with him is because if I don't my family will lose everything. I much rather marry-- someone else."
After your rant Thorin was feeling significantly lighter. He caught your stutter at the end and the side of his mouth corked up. "Y/n, what was it Kili wanted you to tell me?"
You turned to look at him, eyes wide, but were comforted by the smile on his face. "Well," you said looking up and away to avoid eye contact and clasping your hands in front of you. "Kili wants me to tell you that I'm in love with you. And I am, in love with you I mean."
Thorin chuckled and you peaked back at him, he had a soft smile on his face. "Maybe you're not as unlucky as you thought armâlimê.”
You opened your mouth like you were going to say something, but then what he said seemed to register. You paused and then looked over at him, “what did you just call me?”
He smiled at you softly and took your hand and looked down at it as he spoke, “we can figure out what to do about your family’s situation after the quest, I trust it won’t be to hard to find a solution then.”
Silently your hand tightened around his, touched by what he had said. “And just for the record,” he added looking up into your eyes, “I love you too.”
From a little ways away, over by the fire, you could hear whispered cheers and groans, and the clink of coins being exchanged. You looked over and Kili grinned back, shooting you a thumbs up and you couldn’t help but laugh feelings as light as air and happier than you ever have before.

“The White Council has spoken…” Thranduil growled out, having been reading the letter that brought him here weeks ago to talk sense into his oldest friends and get aid to move upon his lost peak within the Southern half of his forest. Glorfindel seated along the wall flinched as he did to the pained squeak and thud in response to his hard kick of a bucket through the window opening on the far wall of his suite.
“Always, the face….” A muffled and defeated voice had the pair spring up to race outside and find a petite woman plopped ungracefully on her side clutching her face to a angered flop of her foot down into the tall grass she was weighing down.
“Madam,” the Elf King felt himself sighing in a hard drop to a knee at her side. Blood clear as day from the now broken nose that hindered the already frustrated Dwarf Company of Thorin Oakenshield who were dead set on waiting until their most injury riddled member was right as rain for the continuation of their journey. Of course that was after an internal investigation on where the Princes were at during that time to ensure like a mishap with the ponies the first week had not been behind another bloody nose and facial bruise for her they were glad to be cleared of. Elrond was shouted for and the King himself carried her to aid without care of the stains to his outer robes terrifying so many in his pacing path outside the Healers Wing.
“You owe me,” was mouthed by her to the Elf King who was not blamed by the Company who would have ammunition enough already to despise him for all eternity off past grievances and grudges. The same Elf King who in his entrapped state offered a deal of his own, together they would call for aid from Dain to rid his Southern Woodlands of the Necromancer and then he would gladly aid in march upon the mountain, where they could surely work his lost gems once the arkenstone was recovered into a new trade deal to rekindle the relationship between their kingdoms.
Quietly as she stole a moment to the side of the grand hall being prepped for the coronation in a few weeks time the one to whom the King owed a debt felt his statuesque silent figure come up on her left. Silent as ever with more grace than she could dream to scoff at beside her now sling donning self thanks to another thankfully face bruise free incident one of Dain’s men unintentionally set off. “I believe we have yet to discuss terms of my debt to you.”
Up at him with brilliantly clear eyes she peered at him for another stunning glimpse of the face he’d sooner ache to coat with kisses and murmured sentiments of adoration than ever bring a single speck of a bruise to. “I want one of those head things,” that had his brow tick upwards to the circle of her good hand drawing a sloppy loop around her head. “Like Arwen and Elrond wear,” that gained a nod from him and she added peering back at the hall making his heart sink lower to her words than it ever had when he’d unfortunately caused her harm. “Everyone else has a title, some relation to the King and they all have some fancy bits and bobs they bring up to be wearing at the coronation. I get to go, but family sits with family and, I’m not family.” Up at him she looked after patting her bunched sleeve to her cheek forcing a grin onto her pinkened face, with eyes still glimmering with hint of tears in them. “If you have to you could say I cried and made you feel bad.”
“That is a poor repayment.” An answer that had her look away mid nod in the rejection riddled tone to the answer she assumed to be given so she would not actually become a sobbing mess and actually stir up some real trouble for the Elf King. An uncommon gesture of comfort of a hand on her shoulder blade halted a swivel of her head to search for a quick escape linked to ample hiding places until she would calm down. “The adornment is customary for such an event, consider it granted however many styles you deem to ask for.” Sloppily she sniffled and raised her hand and bunched up sleeve again to hover in front of the lower half of her face and cheeks as best as she could. “For now consider a much more proper form of repayment and do excuse me. On the subject of your seating arrangement, I have to speak to Lord Celeborn on terms of adopting you into his kin.”
“What?!” She squeaked out, turning to find he was gone somehow and was bent on greatly improving the station upon which would grant him a much closer distance to your seat than he could imagine possible at the moment for a Western wilds familiar Ranger.

“Not you, Bofur. Anyone else. Fíli.”
“Why me?”
“You wouldn’t lie to your favorite uncle, would you?”
“Fíli, be strong!”
“I talked to Thorin about your engagement to Sigrid.”
“FÍLI, NO!”

Hey ! 🌻
I really love your writings and I saw that you take requests ? 👉🏻👈 What would your headcanons be about each Thorin's company members taking care of you if you were injured during a quest while trying to defend them?
Heck yeah! Thanks for your patience as I go through the many I got 🥰 I love this request!
Warnings: minor blood/injury mentions, suggestive jokes
Thorin’s Company Taking Care of Your Injuries
Balin
✧ Sadness overtakes his dark eyes, but he knows you- you’ll pull through.
✧ Gives Oin his space to work, waiting instead where you’ll be lain afterward as he’s asked permission to help clean you up afterward. If he wasn’t so level-headed, in fact, he’d have demanded it.
✧ Can’t help but ask you what you were thinking pulling a daring move like that, but you just give him a weak smile and tell him he’s worth taking an arrow for.
✧ Pulls you into his embrace, kissing the top of your head and telling you he thinks you’re much more worth it, but thank you from the bottom of his old heart.
✧ His touch is the second gentlest beyond the healer’s, so you have as little complaint as you could at how often he changes your bandages and sits you up to make sure you are clean.
Dwalin
✧ The most stubborn. Confident you’re fine, he shakes his head at you for being reckless as he lays you down in your healer’s tent. He knows you’re a fighter- too much of a fighter, if this is any indication.
✧ Gets right in there and helps bandage you, completely unafraid of a little blood. Or a lot of blood. Nothing he hasn’t seen before.
✧ Sits beside you with his arms crossed, asking what possessed you to do that. Softens considerably when you tell him you barely thought, your love for him took over.
✧ Cue Oin walking in on his comrade passionately locking lips with his patient like life was ending that very moment.
✧ Comes across dry with his care to you, but it’s because he’s struggling to forgive himself and doesn’t know how to say it. “Don’t do that, you’re bleeding. I said stay down. Take it up with Oin, not me.”
Thorin
✧ Will be the one to carry you all the way to the healer’s bed no matter what it takes, no matter what injuries he himself sustained.
✧ Lays you down so gently, cradling your head in his hand as he searches for any light in your eyes. When you smile faintly up at him he pulls your head against his chest.
✧ Gives you space, lets Oin work on you, but the moment you’re back in bed he’s at your side with your hand in his, all but snapping at anyone who tries to take him away from you.
✧ Curses his own lack of attention that led you hear, forcing you to shake your head and tell him no, you did what you did out of love and care for him.
✧ Does everything in his power to help you in return, keeping your wounds clean and checking your temperature and staying knelt there as long as he must, telling you how much he loves you again and again.
Oin
✧ Would have been the one to do it anyway, but believe me when I say he will not let a single other soul touch you. You’re under his care and his care alone.
✧ Talks to you even if you’re unconscious, shaking his head and tutting and asking why you’d do that even as he smiles and thanks and blesses you.
✧ For nearly the first time, he finds his hands shaking as he works. If you’re awake and feeling up to teasing him about it, he just uses the moment to reiterate how much he cares for you… and tell you to hold still with a quick but firm kiss.
✧ Pulls out all the stops for your treatment, even using scarcer ingredients he’d hoarded for a long time if he thinks they’ll help.
✧ Rewards all your good behavior, whether it’s taking medicine or gritting through the pain of having things set or bandaged, with a peck on the lips.
Gloin
✧ Oscillating between cheering with pride over your amazing moves and pacing with the stress of knowing you’re hurt.
✧ Tells you how strong you are and how you’ll be back and your feet in no time!
✧ Worst thing for it, though, is just to be laying around just thinking about the pain, so he brings his games in to distract you and keep himself busy when you fall asleep.
✧ Reminds you what a perfect team you two are, for you may have taken an orc’s slash for him, but he ended up taking it down just for you.
✧ Tells you to squeeze his hand if you feel any pain. Regrets that immediately when you practically crush the life out of it, but he’ll never give that fact away for anything!
Bifur
✧ Visibly distraught, knowing how one wound can change a life. Probably demands to watch Oin the entire time.
✧ Needs a hug the moment you’re done just to feel you in his arms and reassure himself, and you cannot deny the comfort it brings you, too.
✧ If you’re the type to pick at your wounds or bandages, know that Bifur will be right there to wordlessly smack your hand away and give you a chastising look.
✧ He becomes clingier, though, in your time of infirm, not only staying by your side but always connected in some way, whether it’s a hand on yours or stroking your head or even him taking you into his arms and resting his head atop yours.
✧ Insists on some very odd herbal remedies that Oin unfortunately backs him up on, nodding and giving a gleeful grin when you reluctantly agree.
Bofur
✧ Refuses to let go of your hand unless Oin physically has to move or handle it for your treatment.
✧ Holds your face in his hands, telling you you’re the bravest most wonderful fool he’s ever met, punctuating every compliment with a kiss.
✧ Sneaks you a flask, saying taking a few sips will surely ease the pain you feel!
✧ Sings you lullabies to help you get your healing rest. Even if you aren’t trying to rest he’ll sing you comforting songs or even silly little uplifting ones complete with even the most ridiculous dance moves. Laughter is the best medicine, after all!
✧ It’s as if he knows what you need before you do. You’ll think of something that might ease your recovery and moments later there is Bofur offering it to you, saying he was thinking you might need it.
Bombur
✧ Paces back and forth outside Oin’s tent in a panic, practically flying into the flaps the moment he is allowed.
✧ Both his hands go to yours, holding it as he asks if you are all right.
✧ Starts to yank you into a hug the moment you day yes, stopping only at Oin’s reminder that that may not be the best idea right now.
✧ Brings you bowls of the best broth he could make, feeding you spoonful by gentle spoonful.
✧ Holds you in his arms and kisses you so softly as if you could somehow break beneath his loving touch.
Dori
✧ The last thing you hear as your tired eyelids flutter shut is Dori scolding you for jumping right into danger.
✧ He picks up again when you awake, but the moment you smile at him he’s lost, pulling you into a kiss with a hand on either side of your face.
✧ Tucks you in your blankets the coziest you have ever been, asking if there is anything else he can bring- anything in the world and it’s yours.
✧ Can be heard arguing with Oin about his methods, especially if they dare hurt you or are more experimental. Healing hurts sometimes, but bless him, he wishes he could take every single ounce of pain from you.
✧ May dodge a bit from the blood your wound oozes, but he certainly isn’t afraid to listen to you describe your pain or what you need in any detail.
Nori
✧ You’ll wake up to him practically pouncing you onto the bed asking what you were thinking pulling a stunt like that.
✧ Kisses you again and again, uncaring of who might be watching.
✧ He has…very creative ways he suggests as attempts to ease the pain depending on the nature of your injury. And, of course, if you’re up for them.
✧ If not, a few rounds of cards’ll keep you busy just the same, and he’ll admit it’s a lot less effort.
✧ Sleight of hand skills come in handy sometimes! He can entertain you with magic tricks, deftly change your bandages with you barely noticing, steal some of Bofur’s whiskey for you to share…
Ori
✧ Constantly asking if you’re going to be alright, which would annoy your company healer if it weren’t so blasted sweet.
✧ Tries to jump in and help, forcing Oin to remind him that he never has set a bone before, has he? He, in fact, has not.
✧ The moment you’re released, you bet he’s right at your side doing everything else under the sun he can. Covering you up with blankets, bringing you water or food and feeding it to you, fetching water and a cloth to keep you cool and clean.
✧ “Don’t scare me like that,” he all but whines your name, “besides, I almost had it!” “Keyword there being almost,” you shoot back with a half-smile, half-wince. “Alright, fair. Thank you. Really.”
✧ Brags about how amazing you are and how there’ll be all kinds of stories about you. You snort and refute this, to which he replies, grinning and holding up his book: “There will be, too. I’m writing them.”
Fili
✧ Wild horses could hardly drag him from your side.
✧ Hovers over Oin the entire time the older dwarf sees to you, even going so far as holding onto things he’ll probably need and handing them to him like an assistant.
✧ Sets up his bedding adjacent to yours in case either of you falls asleep, and of course so you can cuddle him. Oh, all right, he wants to cuddle you too, you got it out of him!
✧ “You’re wonderful.” Kiss. “Brave.” Kiss. “Mad.” Kiss. “Quite the terror to those orcs, even if the one did catch you in the end. Saw some heads fly thanks to you, love.” A much longer, more appreciative kiss.
✧ Can’t sleep? Don’t fret, Fili is there to share stories of his family, of adventures with Kili, their mother, maybe even something funny about Thorin his uncle wouldn’t particularly appreciate him telling you…
Kili
✧ Carries you to bed himself. Every night if need be, he’ll be there for you or even throughout the day to support you and help you walk.
✧ When you’re being worked on, he wants to look away, but he keeps his eyes on you throughout every moment, your hand firmly in his.
✧ Definitely jokes about kissing your wounds better. Teasingly makes to lift up your clothes ‘to see the scar’.
✧ Runs for Oin the moment you express any pain; he knows the feeling, after all, and as he tells you he cannot help the guilt he feels at indirectly causing this, even if you insist it was your choice.
✧ Holds you close, resting your foreheads together as he thanks you for loving him enough to put yourself in this state. “I would do the same for you, you know.”
Bilbo
✧ Deeply insistent that you eat and drink to maintain your strength, even if he has to feed you himself.
✧ Exasperated beyond anything if you tell him you’re fine or try to get up. Gives you the look. You know the look.
✧ If you have bloody bandages, he will help you change them, just looking away and trying not to gag most of the time.
✧ Piles a near-comical amount of blankets on you, forcing you to remind him he needs to keep at least one for himself. Bilbo refuses, thus you invite him into your sickbed with you. He only accepts because you’re ailing and that overrides the impropriety of it all.
✧ Seeing you in pain is so hard, but the one thing that helps Bilbo get through it is realizing it’s emboldened him to tell you just how much you mean to him. It’s a little awkward to get it out, but as he holds your hand and looks into your eyes it is nothing but worth it.

In a beautiful perfect world where nobody died in the Battle of the Five Armies, I could totally see everyone in the Shire referring to Thorin’s Company as “Bilbo’s dwarves.” Nobody ever converses with them, no one bothers to learn their names, everyone just knows them as Bilbo’s Dwarves

I 100% believe that the dwarves of Thorin’s Company refer to Bilbo’s smial as a hole in the ground, so one day Bilbo calls the caverns in the mountains that dwarves live in as a hole in the ground.
The Company: Our cavern mountain homes are not holes in the ground!
Bilbo: What are caverns, but giant holes?🧐😏

Animal companions are literally my favorite thing ever my only issue is that when I’m writing I’ll be like “ah! You get a wolf companion yes that seems right and fun and cool” and then I’ll see like a mountain lion and I’m like “oh but…” and then I’ll see a fox and a snow leopards and then I’ll have a crisis bc I don’t don’t what companion I want to give my character anymore

Fili x Gandalf’s Apprentice Reader
Fili x Gandalf’s apprentice Reader
Hurt/comfort
Warnings: None really, sad Fili, angst, Thorin but he doesn’t really need a warning this time
“You’re leaving?” A voice cracked behind them.
Fili.
They sighed and turned around, “Yes, Fili. I am. But not because I wish to. It is because I must.”
“What about us? The bead you wear, does that mean nothing to you?” His voice trembled.
“Fili, it means the world to me.” They stared down at his watering eyes, “I have places in Middle Earth to look after, I cannot stay here”
“There are other wizards, can they not look after it for you?” He was becoming desperate. Dwarrow only have One. One person they wish to spend their days with, and it would be heartbreaking to watch them walk away like that. And broke, his heart did.
“They have their own duties. I will miss you, and I hope to see you once more” they smiled sadly at him, leaning down and placing a gentle kiss on this forehead.
Fili was left there, in the halls of the newly reclaimed Erebor, tears slowly making their way down his cheeks. In his pocket, was another bead, similar to the one they already wore. He had been planning on asking them to marry him.
Fili angrily threw the bead down, the metal bouncing across the floor. At the same time, Kili rounded the corner, watching his brother in obvious pain and storming off. Kili bent down, picking up the bead, pocketing it for later just in case.
Days later, the Company was slowly losing hope. Fili had locked himself in his chambers, the door not unlocking for anyone, even Kili. Kili confided in Thorin, showing him the bead and explaining what he saw.
“That does explain Fili’s behaviour. I will be speaking the Gandalf about this issue” Thorin had told Kili.
Thorin found Gandalf sitting in the one of the grand rooms, talking to the hobbit Bilbo.
“Gandalf, I must speak with you about your apprentice”
“What of them?”
“It concerns both them and Fili. As we all know, they have been courting since the quest, and I have recently found out that Fili had been planning on proposing. Your apprentice left before that could happen, and now Fili has locked himself away! He won’t come out to eat, Gandalf. I am worried.”
Gandalf let out a sigh, “They left? I was not expecting that so soon. Don’t fret, Thorin, I will speak with them. They can’t have gone far yet”
Gandalf rode off away from Erebor, following his apprentice’s trail. As he had assumed, they were not hard to find, travelling through an open field towards the edge of the forest.
“(Y/N), wait just a moment!”
They stopped, turning to face Gandalf, only to be met with his staff to their face.
“Ow! What in the world was that for?!”
“For throwing something so precious away so easily! I thought I raised you better than this!”
“He’ll get over me. He has to, I have other things I need to do”
“He will not and does not have to. You know about the dwarves and their Ones, he will not find another! Do you not think that I saw how you two looked at one another? I made plans so that you wouldn’t have to go back, but no. You left without telling me, but now I can tell you that you no longer have duties to Middle Earth-“
“What? Gandalf? What am I to do now?”
“Hold your tongue and let me finish! You duties now lie solely in Erebor, Dale, Laketown, and Mirkwood. Your protection will no longer work where it used to.”
“So you leave me no choice… I must return to Erebor” they spoke quietly. Damn that sneaky wizard.
“Do not lie and tell me you wish not to be with Prince Fili”
“I’m afraid I’ve probably ruined my chances with him, father”
Gandalf placed a gentle hand on their shoulder, smiling down at them.
“You have not, now go before the poor boy starves himself in his room”
Fili lay in his bed, his hair a mess and his face red and puffy. He had lost his One. He couldn’t believe when he found them, the joy that they brought. And now he was alone once again. His stomach grumbled with hunger but he couldn’t bear to face the others at the moment. Simply thinking of them made fresh tears spring to his eyes as he clutched onto his pillow tighter.
Knock, knock
Fili barely glanced at his door this time. It was probably another member of the Company, maybe Ori or Gloin this time, he didn’t know.
He heard the door unlock, wondering how his friends managed that, but not enough to get out of bed to ask. He heard footsteps walk towards him and he hid his face in the fur blankets. Mahal, he felt like a dwarfling hiding his tears from his mother when he accidentally hurt himself in the training grounds.
Fili felt a familiar hand run through his hair, and he thought he must be imagining things. Maybe that’s what losing your One does to you. As the familiar stroking of his hair continued, he couldn’t help but burst into tears, hating his mind for doing this to him and making him so emotional. They weren’t here, they had left. They were gone.
“Fili? Oh Fili…” they said as they heard the dwarf prince sob. It was a strange sight, contrast to the tough warrior they saw on the quest.
At the sound of his name, Fili tensed. Maybe he wasn’t dreaming after all.
He turned his head to look to the side of his bed, and there they were.
“(Y/N)?” He asked, his voice shaky.
They nodded, kneeling beside the bed. Placing their hands on his cheeks, brushing away the tears that were still falling.
“I was wrong, Fili, I was so wrong. And I will forever be making it up to you. I thought you’d get over me, but now that I see you, I know that not to be true. Gandalf, that sneaky wizard, switched my duties over to Erebor and surrounding kingdoms.”
“I could never get over you, amrâlimê. You’re my One. Come here, please” he grasped their hands, pulling them up onto the bed beside him.
They laid down beside Fili, wrapping their arms around him, allowing him to curl up beside them.
“I messed up” Fili spoke.
“What ever do you mean?”
“Before you left, I was actually planning on proposing. But in anger, I threw the bead to the floor… it’s gone”
Before they could respond, Kili burst into the room.
“Fear not, for I found the bead! Here you go brother, good luck!” And with that, he left the room.
They laughed, and Fili just shook his head in amusement at his brother.
“Well? I guess this is my formal proposal, although I had hoped to give you a much better one. Will you stay with me? Until the last of our days?”
“Yes, of course I will, to our last day and beyond that, my love”
