insisting on a celibacy phase was maybe a bit much but honestly it fixed me

#I’ve basically spent most of my time since puberty either with a crush or heartbroken #and as an adult that means I’m usually trying to distract myself from being sad over whoever #by dating and hooking up with other people #because that’s what everyone always said was what worked #but it doesn’t and it got me into some messy situations #whereas now sure I’m not totally healed from my last heartbreak #but I think this particular one might live w me forever #so I’m learning to live with it?#and I now don’t rly have any active crushes #not including my customer cos. yeh just doesn’t count #so I’m not crushing I’m not completely heartbroken for the first time in my life #and I have no desire to date #and I’ve been saying hey if someone I was interested in asked me out I wouldn’t say no #and someone did. and he turned out to be too😬 before our date #v not good vibes can’t explain #and I’m not sad abt it #we kinda just stopped talking and I’m relieved #look im lonely in a lot of ways but that’s p much just. what constitutes being a monster in spn is so deeply interesting bc so much of the show is used to argue that monstrosity is not about what you are but what you do. And that you can always be a better person, your monstrous traits aren’t necessarily actually monstrous.

but as the show goes on we learn that this is only true if dean deems you human. So sams monstrous traits must be buried deep and thrown out in order for him to be good. Sams monstrous friends are inherently evil bc dean says so. Deans monstrous friends are fine though, of course.

I’m just eternally wishing for a version of this show where sams abilities are so deeply ingrained in him that he can’t ever get rid of them. And he’s allowed to be a hero regardless. Give me a season 5 where sams eyes randomly go yellow. Or he has to deal with demon traps or he needs to control his emotions bc anger from him can be literally explosive, but regardless of all of this he still shows dean more compassion than dean ever leant to him in season 4. And regardless of all this he still beats the devil.

#Fr the thread they play with abt what makes a monster in s1-4 is my favorite thing about the show bar none #and I always personally just view it as ‘of course Sam is right. childhood friend!toru though….. i feel like he would be your estranged childhood friend. that makes most sense to me :3 like, you met when you were really really young, and ended up playing together in an empty park. he was a brat, kind of quiet, and you were just sweet, y’know? you were the closest thing to a friend he had as a child. then you ended up moving away, he never got to say goodbye… and you meet again as adults. you don’t remember him — it was just so, so long ago — but he remembers you. he remembers you a little too well.

so now you just kinda have to deal with this tall, handsome, cheery man who keeps talking to you like you’re best friends even though you literally don’t remember him…. he’s sweet though. a little annoying, but sweet. he has a soft spot for you. i think having anything remotely close to a childhood friend makes him feel human in a way he can’t help but crave.
