I... honestly have no idea. My mental image of what a wedding is and what happens in it is extremely Laestadian, and the only music in the ones I've been to is either hymns, or other songs (often folk melodies) that aren't too worldly, whatever the fuck that means. I don't know what music I'd want at my wedding, because trying to think outside the scope of what I've learned is acceptable feels... really wrong. All the songs that I have enough of an attachment to in order to even start to consider them, I can't imagine them playing at a wedding because that Feels Very Wrong.

Over the years that song has been many things to me - back when I first discovered it, it was an escape. A place to run to and hide in when everything felt too much. And then it became a promise, it said "there's more life can offer you and you just need to find it". (This was my yearning era where I did not have anyone to yearn for yet.) And then it became a different kind of promise, before I even realized it - I was almost afraid to listen to it because it brought up so many emotions I did not know and could not really understand. (I listened anyway, sometimes.)

there's a lot of people that have done things in the past that were bad, because they weren't taught any better, or they were in an overall toxic situation where EVERYONE was shitty (like a cult), or they were just at an especially low point and hurt others for it.

you don't have to forgive them. you don't have to ever speak to them again. you can be angry with them until you die if you want.

but society cannot function if we don't allow them to move on. to change their behavior and fuck off somewhere else and build meaningful relationships without bothering you again. we need a path for people to change, or nothing ever will.
