🌊Moana 2 Aftermath Headcanons🌊

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHI HAVEN’T WATCH MOANA 2!! BE WARNED!! Also will mention trauma and angst!

(Credit to @startoons1105 who also helped with some of the headcanons. Headcanons and art is under cut. All of these headcanons just focus on Moana and her struggles after Moana 2)

So a new Demi-Goddess…I’m sure we all wondering what her abilities are probably gonna be like. I saw this one headcanon(idk by who, but I like the idea. Not stealing it ofc) that the ancestors have to transform some of Maui’s powers to revive her so like super strength and shapeshift powers with her oar could be one of her abilities. However, due to her connection with the sea, she could only turn into sea animals. The only land animals she can transform is a pig and a chicken due to her animal pals, but again, with Maui, Moana needs her oar to do so.

Another ability is controlling the water and wind..well, to some limits. I headcanon she’ll be known as the DemiGoddess of Sailing or the Sailing DemiGoddess and while on the boat, she can control the water and wind to the exact location, though if she’s not on her boat, she can only control water within reach. Not saying that it’s always stay that way, but at the moment, she can only use water on everywhere else within close reach and only use wind for her adventures.

Speaking of ability, I headcanon all full gods can walk on clouds while some demigods can, depending on their abilities and what they’re god/goddess of. Maui was curious and just yeet Moana to the clouds. Bad news, she couldn’t and fall into the water…good news, she can breathe under water.

now Angst >:3, she have a HUGE scar on her back(refer to the back scar art I did) and she always flinches or at least, jumps when someone touch it. I imagine it sends a small shock through her body..she usually tried to cover it with her outfit and her hair, trying to keep it hidden. Whenever she is asked about the scar, she doesn’t really go into detail, just say that it’s just a scar from the adventure.

Along with the last headcanon. She also became touch adverse(basically rejecting physical touch) during the first few weeks after the movie due to her back scar. Especially with hugs and giving Simea(little sister) any kind of physical touch. Ofc Simea is too young(being 3yo) to understand and usually tried to hug Moana which Moana would usually tense and tried so hard not to show discomfort.

Rainstorms are her FEAR!! Whenever there’s rain, even if it’s a drizzle, she’ll hide under her quarter until it’s gone. Same with lightning and thunders, she usually hide under her blanket and just stays with Hei Hei and Pua til the storm is over.

She also stay in her island for a few weeks..gaining a temporary fear of the water..cause she did died under the water. I know it’s somewhat OOC of her, but it’s not like a HUGE fear. She just prefer to stay in the island for a few weeks..you know to recover and everything.

While she IS a Demi-goddess, she prefer to keep it as a secret. The only people who know are her boat team, Maui, and her parents(Simea is too young to understand). She prefer not to get all the attention after a traumatized event..if anyone ask, she’ll just say it’s a normal tattoo.

Speaking of knowing, she did told her parents….ofc, they were shock and..and worried. They would tried to hug her, but with Moana rejecting physical touch for a while, they stay with her with an enough distant and just stay in the room with her and comfort her verbally. They also comfort her during the rainstorm and just be there for her when she needs them.

Moana is always tense and on edge, usually shaking up after everything..but she usually tries to cover it up..she can’t let her people see her struggles. Her parents and her boat team noticed and be there to comfort her in private and quiet areas, mostly her parents and Loto if she’s not busy with ships.

And that’s all me and Star came up with. We both like the movies,, though we did wish it could be more detail and such, but the movie was good. Thanks for reading this and see ya. We need some Moana angst headcanons anyways

hate when people think the only archetype possible for a male sidekick to a female protagonist is a soft boi and/or himbo. like the implication there is that the only reason a man would ever defer to a woman’s authority is if he was a bumbling idiot. love male supporting characters who are smart and strong and confident and can step up when necessary but still kind and humble enough to let someone else take the lead most of the time
