There are times when I really hate HOTD
You have no idea how much I want the HOTD writers to go to hell. I'm a patient person and I'm used to adaptations being different from the original, but what they did with HOTD is a huge piece of garbage. Adaptations often change appearance, plot, time frame, but a drastic change in personality is something I cannot tolerate.
What the hell happened to Alicent? Maybe the real Alicent was a stepmother from hell, but at least she knew what she wanted and was ready to do anything to achieve what she wanted. What happened to the boastful, arrogant, stupid and hot-tempered Aemond? And Aegon? This guy was a hot-tempered, spoiled hedonist, but not Mr. "I do what my mom says. My parents don't love me. It's time to show everyone my sad eyes."
Rhaenyra and Alicent's "friendship" is just 🤮. What the hell is friendship? From the very beginning, show!Alicent was jealous of show!Rhaenyra's position and status and her relationship with her parents. The real Rhaenyra would never have noticed someone like Alicent, let alone befriend her. Both girls had different upbringings, interests and worldviews. What common topics of communication did they have?
What kind of love are we talking about between Show!Viserys and Show!Rhaenyra? For half the season, all Show!Viserys did was just yell at his daughter and not listen to her, and for the second he looked like the walking dead.
How the writers couldn't come up with anything better than stealing some of Rhaenyra's things. Like her signature black dress, a forced marriage to a man who didn't care about Rhaenyra. Did you notice show!Rhaenyra's dresses and hairstyles? The book literally had a description of how Rhaenyra dressed and what hairstyle she preferred, but the writers apparently read the book from Wikipedia and skipped every second word.
I showed my friend, who hasn't watched the show and doesn't know anything about GOT or HOTD, photos of young show!Rhaenyra and show!Alicent from the series and asked what she thought. Do you know what the answer was? My friend decided that show!Alicent was a princess and show!Rhaenyra was a servant.
Just look at the banners they made for the second season. The green banner is really nice, but the black banner looks like a cheap towel.
What about the blacks on the show? How stupid must a girl be, who grew up in a world in which the main purpose of a woman is marriage and the birth of an heir, and who is the heir to the throne, to think that she can avoid marriage? The real Viserys didn't give Rhaenyra a choice and chose her husband himself, but did show!Rhaenyra really think she could avoid marriage? Show!Raenyra is the height of stupidity and absurdity, which constantly contradicts itself.
And Daemon? I really feel sorry for Matt. He is a talented actor and tries very hard. I think if the show had more skilled writers, he could have portrayed the real Daemon. But show!Daemon is a stupid, illogical, absurd clown who doesn’t understand what he wants and doesn’t follow through. This character has so many fans solely because of Matt's charisma, the writers should kiss his feet for that.
And of course, my favorite. There's only been one season out, but the writers have already demonstrated their style of throwing aside logic for the sake of effect. I mean, show!Laena's self-immolation and the way show!Rhaenys ruined show!Aegon's coronation. Do you know what the people who work on the show said in interviews? They added these scenes because they thought it would be cooler and more impressive. Wasn’t the creators of GOT guided by a similar point of view when working on the plot of the last seasons of the show?
And now, because of this show, a lot of people have come out of nowhere to argue that women should not hold leadership positions, remain silent and accept neglect because it is necessary, and rapists and aggressors can be forgiven if they are played by beautiful actors or if the characters lacked parental support love. According to this logic, people should love Joffrey and Ramsay since they both also lacked parental love in childhood.
This show really had potential and a good cast. But the screenwriters' work destroyed everything from the very beginning. Many people still have hopes that everything will be better in the second season, but I am in despair. No, seriously, look at the team banners for season two. They really did a good job on the green banner and that would be fine if the black banner wasn’t yet another proof of the writers’ bias. Black team, we have no hope.

Meet the Team Lead - Foibs
Who could the Lead for the Talanah route possibly be? Of course, it's the ever-talented @foibles-fables! You can also find them on AO3 as foibles_fables!
Howdy and hello, I’m Foibs! You might already know me as that clown who’s always crying over Talanah. Well, get ready for more tears, FOTH-style! My first exposure to the Horizon series was scrolling Twitter, seeing the reveal trailer for Forbidden West, and thinking, “This seems relevant to my interests.” I proved myself right when I started playing in late 2020 and fell in love with Aloy’s incredible world. Since then, I’ve churned out an embarrassing amount of fanfic (overwhelmingly Hawk and Thrush), become a lore connoisseur, and formed lifelong relationships with amazing folks in the fandom. I’ve written fanfiction on and off for—well, most of my life! My inspiration usually comes from epic sci-fi/fantasy and modern poetry, so game script writing has been a fun and rewarding challenge already.
Q&A with Foibs under the cut!
What is a favorite piece of work you've done (completed/ working on/ in-concept)?
True story: I came into my Horizon fixation thinking I wouldn’t write any fic for the series. Then I met the (future) Sunhawk, and all bets were off. This is a tough choice—I’m proud of everything I’ve created for the series—but lately I’ve been feeling soft for rest like you belong here., my first ever Aloy/Talanah fic. It was compelling and fulfilling to explore Aloy’s manifold struggles with vulnerability in a Zero Dawn missing scene.
What are some of your favorite tropes (to read/ write/ draw)?
I tend to gravitate towards capturing and developing those unseen, in-between moments of canon. I’m also a huge fan of diving into a character’s psyche with introspective studies—usually of the romantic variety. Beyond that, I’m a huge sucker for writing pining (mutual or otherwise), friends to lovers, and emotional/physical hurt/comfort.
What is an unexpected thing or fun fact about you?
Outside of fandom-adjacent activities, my hobbies include picking up heavy things and putting them back down. My heart is big, but my deadlift number is bigger.
What has been your favorite thing about working on this project so far?
Definitely the profound spirit of enthusiastic collaboration between all of these fabulous creators. It’s been utterly inspiring to put together a project of this scale and complexity with folks I might never have gotten to work with or befriend otherwise! I’m also very excited to get to explore the development of Talanah and Aloy’s relationship after the events of Forbidden West in this new and interesting way!

I love the friendsim two. I devoured the released 11 volumes, I love the production value and voice acting. all the characters too.
but I noticed from your Purpleblood designs of the purplebloods as being black coded with all the dreads and Chahut having a Losuina recipe.
I'm kind of iffy that as the Purplebloods are a caste psychotic murder clowns who keep the low bloods in line. coding them as black is iffy.
Homestuck itself was critzed for its Troll racial coding of the Makaras and Meenah.
it reminds me of Steven Universe issue with racial coding.
So this is actually one of the reasons it's taken so long for Volume 12 to come out! We actually wanted to take the time to unpack the various implications of the racial coding of the purple bloods and bring some actual deeper meaning to all of that (plus the implications of a closed or semi-closed ethnoreligion). Part of this process was engaging with black writers and creators in the fandom, as well as bringing in a writer who could provide a view from outside the fandom (the talented Miranda Holliday, who is a excellent theater writer and graduate of the NYU musical theater writing program)
We've definitely made some choices with the purples that might deviate away from a very literalist reading of what we see in canon, but I think there's a strong argument to be made that things aren't exactly as they appear on the surface, and there's a lot more to the purples that we've tried to dig into in a way that will feel satisfying, while also not relying on stereotyping or cliches.
(trying not to spoil too much, but this ended up being our second-longest volume and probably the one that received the most attention in terms of revisions and edits to the plot along the way)
We'll probably talk about this more once the volume released, but the balance of not erasing black coding in characters with not leaning into stereotypes was one that we tried to strike very carefully with this volume.

"Sparky's Magic Piano" is a truly classic children's record, highly memorable for its unique premise and innovative sound. It was indeed written and produced by Alan Livingston, a pivotal figure in the history of Capitol Records and children's entertainment.
Here's a detailed look at this iconic vinyl album:
The Creator: Alan Livingston: Alan W. Livingston (1917–2009) was a groundbreaking American music executive, writer, and producer. He joined Capitol Records in 1946 with the specific task of creating a children's record library. He is most famous for creating the character Bozo the Clown and developing the first "record-reader" concept, where children could follow a story in an accompanying book while listening to the record. "Sparky's Magic Piano" is one of his most successful and enduring children's creations. He later became president of Capitol Records and is credited with signing The Beatles for Capitol in the US.
The Character: Sparky: Sparky is a young boy with an active imagination. His adventures, featured in a series of Capitol Records releases, often involve inanimate objects magically coming to life and talking to him. "Sparky's Magic Piano" is the most famous of these stories.
Release Details:
Label: Capitol Records.
Original Release: The recording was made in October 1947 and officially released in 1948.
Original Format: It was initially released as a 3 x 10-inch 78 RPM shellac album, typically housed in a book-like cover (which is where the term "album" for a collection of records originated).
Later Vinyl Reissues: Due to its immense popularity, "Sparky's Magic Piano" was later reissued on various vinyl formats, including 78 RPM vinyl, 45 RPM box sets (often with 3 records), and eventually as a 12-inch LP. It has also seen CD reissues.
The Story (Plot Summary): "Sparky's Magic Piano" tells the story of Sparky, a young boy who dislikes practicing the piano and is not very good at it, much to the dismay of his mother and piano teacher, Miss Pickett. One day, while frustrated, the piano itself comes to life and begins to talk to Sparky. The piano offers to play for him, making it appear as if Sparky is a prodigy. Sparky quickly gains fame, performing in prestigious venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall, and even for the President. However, the fame goes to his head, and Sparky becomes arrogant and rude to his magical piano friend. During an encore at a concert, the piano decides to teach Sparky a lesson and stops playing. Sparky is left embarrassed as his lack of genuine talent is revealed to the laughing audience. The story often concludes with the revelation that it was all a dream, and Sparky, having learned his lesson, approaches piano practice with renewed enthusiasm.
Unique Musical Innovation: A key element that made the album so unique and memorable was the "talking piano." This effect was achieved using a Sonovox, an early electronic voice synthesizer (similar to a talk box). The Sonovox blended human speech with the sound of the piano, making it sound as though the piano itself was speaking. The piano pieces were performed by noted Hollywood studio pianist Ray Turner. The combination of Ray Turner's piano playing with the innovative Sonovox technology created a magical and slightly eerie effect that captivated children.
Moral Message: Beyond its entertainment value, "Sparky's Magic Piano" also carries a clear moral lesson about the importance of effort, perseverance, and humility, particularly relevant for children learning musical instruments.
Legacy: "Sparky's Magic Piano" became the most popular of all the "Sparky" stories and is fondly remembered by generations. Its innovative use of sound and its engaging story made it a benchmark for children's audio entertainment. It even inspired an animated television special in 1987, where Alan Livingston himself voiced the piano. Listen at archive.org

Aww Mammon is worrying for Lynsie!
Do these two have a history together?
[Yeah. Going way back to that massive "In the Beginning" lore post that I dropped when I made her...Lynsie aka the Primordial Dragon was the creature made and subsequently cast aside by the Creator who tossed her into the pit that would be Hell. Do a little time skippy and we got Lucifer being cast down for the whole Fuirt thing. Lu Lu finds her and offers that which was denied...compassion. Another time skip later, the battle of Heaven and Hell's reformation blah blah, and Lucifer sets up his new world and the order of power.
"When the war was over, many were now cast down into the pit of the dammed, the beasts included. With Lucifer now in power over the fallen, mostly because he still possessed very strong angelic power which holds sway over the now demonic power of his contemporaries, he used the dragon to sway the beasts to help in reforming their eternal prison into a world of their own. For their aid, the beasts were granted new roles and lordships as the hierarchy of Hell was being established. It's a crude form of hierarchy defined by power, with Lucifer being King of all Hell. Behemoth and Ziz sought nothing more than humble existences, choosing to take lord titles but no grand duties while remaining in eternal servitude. Leviathan, for its envious nature, took up what its siblings passed down, becoming not just a lord but a Prince as the Deadly Sin of Envy, giving it rein over the abyssal sea of the Ring of Envy. The dragon for its part, took lordship and sought a governing seat at Lucifer's side, which was granted in the form of the dragon being used to keep all of Hell in line when the chaotic stability of power is being threatened."
During this early halcyon age, Lucifer was still believing in his dreams and formed the Deadly Sin Circus (making that name up for this). All seven had a role that best fit their talents. Lucifer was the Ring Leader. (Ha! Puns!) Beelzebub was the Beast Tamer. Asmodeus was the Fire Spinner. Mammon was the Clown and marketer. (now come my headcanons) Satan was the Strongman and often would team up with Bee. Belphegor was in charge of concessions and provided very addictive snacks. Leviathan was in charge of effects and would put on aquatic musical performances. On occasion, the beasts were requested to perform. (Satan loved showing off with Behemoth. Ziz not so much and would stay out of it.) Lynsie would try dabbling with Ozzie and Bee (for obvious reasons) but found chemistry with Mammon, usually with her being the "straight man" in their double comedy while he was the "funny man".
As Hell grew, their responsibilities did too and after some tensions boiled over, the curtains on the circus closed with everyone parting ways. Though some still remain close, Ozzy and Bee are still buds, and Bee generally gets along with everyone...except Mammon.
Mammon's bluntness and lack of shits-given attitude tends to make him incredibly off-putting and it strains even Lynsie's patience at times due to her governing over Hell's power structures. If it weren't for their friendship and Lucifer's lack of ruling, Mammon would likely lose a lot of his power, possibly even the rule of his Ring. But so long as she's in the seat of control and he's able to keep on her good side, he'll continue to rule Greed while she's stuck dealing with the aftermath of whatever new trouble he's caused.
It's a messed up dependent relationship because both are aware of this cycle yet can't break it. She doesn't want to lose him as a friend because she doesn't want to do what was done to her, she doesn't want to feel like she betrayed him for that is the ultimate sin in her eyes, yet the longer she tries to tackle this on her own the more stress consumes her. And he knows she's probably the only decent soul who doesn't judge or want something from him, purely enjoying him for who he is, but his selfish destructive tendencies are a wedge that threatens to pry their bond apart and it secretly terrifies him.]

ok i finished the live action and my overall reaction is that i had fun watching it :p loved seeing an all poc ( asian + indigenous ) cast minus the white boy <3 were there things i was ???????? about........... yes. but i was just honestly brain empty just vibing anyways because if i wanted to be miserable and hate just to hate i would think about my dad but anyways more under the cut bc lKGJSKLGSDKLGJ
nostalgia was def a factor bc why did i cry in nearly every episode or am i just going through it. anyways watching the first ep and realizing they were showing the air nomad genocide i was just

the bending was executed beautifully!!!!!!!! i felt they did rlly well in that factor
i honestly just went into it thinking of it as an AU so the changes didn't bother as much and i refused to think any further on it or i'd lose my mind ( and even then, the changes weren't horrible i dont think idk )
i was honestly living for azula's kinda "origin" to the girl we meet in the animated series. i enjoyed seeing the psychological abuse happening in real time from her father. ALSO. general zhao's speech about azula and zuko? i was frothing at the mouth sorry
where was my professional yapper miss katara?? hello. why was suki down bad for sokka off the bat. there was not enough bullying <3
they were very . determined with the costuming and it shows but it did go a lil overboard for my taste and ventured into cosplay :clown: like at some point it felt like a bunch of super rich cosplayers got together and was like hey, what if we made a live action atla <3 i just feel like the costume department was a hit and miss with various charas and they need to find their footing
my only GENUINE gripe with the show was its delivery with lines and general acting..........? which really confuses me because the cast is full of sm talents that ik are amazing at their craft. so im p sure it comes down to the script and direction so hopefully if it gets greenlit for another season or smth it gets improved upon. otherwise, this isn't bad if ur target audience is for ppl under like 12. BUT considering the creators were like we're tryin to blend GOT elements <3 bestie u kinda dropped the ball there but A- for effort
also the pacing was waaaaaaaaaay too fast. i think 12 eps could've helped but idk
i think the line i saw best describe the series is smth like "it's uniquely its own thing but distinctly still atla, if u go in to pick out flaws, u'll find them but if u just take it for what it is, it's enjoyable" and honestly yeah. if u wanna be a hater then whatever but do Nawt put that energy near me tyvvmmmmm
bonus: heres my fav tweet about yue's costuming that had me giggling bc honestly wtf was that:

#atla spoilers#ANYWAYSSSSSSS that was a ride <3#it was not the dumpster fire i was expecting it had its flaws but it was enjoyable#haters are being dramatic srry

Clowning around… with a difference!
29 Apr 1982 - The Stage

Transcript below
IF THE MENTION of clowns conjures up images of empty-headed buffoons, then "Bumps" at the Lyric, Hammersmith, should be a pleasant surprise. For these clowns are different.
They're eccentric yes, most sport false noses, and all wear extraordinary garb; they're remarkably funny too, not in the slapstick tradition, but in the manner of misfits, who talk in riddles and non-sequiturs to expose characters who are also vulnerable and lovable - even the grumpy ones. The show's creator, Cheryl McFadden, has woven great charm into the proceedings.
Cheryl was "discovered" during the New York run of "Nicholas Nickleby". Several of the actors heard about her locally-famed clown improvisation classes, attended one and were hooked enough to insist on regular sessions for the rest of their season.
Indeed, her adroitness, in drawing fresh skills from accomplished actors so fired Edward Petherbridge that he determined to bring her over to create a show for British actors. He asked her to devise something that would last about an hour, and teamed it with "Knots", based on R.D. Laing's psychological conundrums. And because "Knots" puts the same actors in normal dress in unremarkable situations that emphasise the foolishness inherent in all of us, the coupling is complementary.
Shortage of time was difficult for Cheryl. "I've done this sort of thing before in America but never in the space of five weeks. We (there are eight actors in the cast) spent the first few days just doing classes and building a rapport, and we went very slowly because we had to break through the barriers of everyone's terror of the unknown, including my own.
"But Edward has an amazing instinct for choosing people.and everyone has worked tremendously hard so I'm excited about what has evolved."
Cheryl, whose colouring and build reminded me of Jane Asher, looks on the clown as an extension of the actor's self. In "Bumps" she has tried to extend her actors still further by involving them in all the performing arts. They all have to play musical instruments (several of them had had no previous musical ex-perience), as well as speak, mime, sing, dance, and paint.
She herself is pretty versatile, too. Her style of teaching stems from a period of study in Paris with the mime Jacques Lecoq, and in London her role has also called on her talents as writer, director and visual initiator. When she's not busy on any of these, she acts. She just finished a film, "The Outdoorsters" She doesn't care for the superficial, but she does care about being involved in theatre that illuminates and that provokes a gut reaction in its audience. With "Bumps", I think she has succeeded

Meet Lauren LaVera, the Heart and Soul of the ‘Terrifier’ Franchise

Lauren LaVera attends "Terrifier 3" New York Premiere at Regal Union Square on October 08, 2024 in New York City. Santiago Felipe/Getty Images Lauren LaVera Discusses Sienna Shaw's Evolution in "Terrifier 3" In the "Terrifier" franchise, Art the Clown has met his match in Sienna Shaw, portrayed by Lauren LaVera. As the series has progressed, Sienna has emerged as a co-lead, with her character's journey becoming central to the story. Following the release of Terrifier 3 on October 11, LaVera shares insights into her character, the production experience, and her growth as an actress. Sienna's Journey and Character Development LaVera’s portrayal of Sienna began in Terrifier 2, where the character’s origin story was established. Damien Leone, the franchise’s creator, has expressed that LaVera’s Sienna is not just a sidekick but the “heart and soul” of the series. “It’s just as much her franchise as it is Art the Clown’s at this point,” Leone remarked. In preparation for her role, LaVera kept a personal journal as Sienna, asking herself questions to better understand her character. “What’s Sienna’s favorite color? What’s her favorite movie?” she recalled. This exploration helped her portray Sienna authentically, particularly as the character grapples with her identity following the traumatic events of the previous film.
(Lauren LaVera as “Sienna” in Terrifier 3 Courtesy of Jesse Korman/Dark Age Cinema) Production Differences Between Terrifier 2 and 3 LaVera noted a significant difference in the production of Terrifier 3 compared to its predecessor. “It was so much more organized,” she said, appreciating the larger crew and increased budget. With more talented hands on set, LaVera felt she received better support and could engage more deeply with Leone about her character. “The skeleton crew from Terrifier 2 was great, but we had one-person departments. It was a learning curve, but for Terrifier 3, I really got to have Damien’s undivided attention,” she explained. This allowed for a more collaborative environment, enhancing her performance. Emotional Scenes and Themes LaVera highlighted a key scene where Sienna confronts a true crime podcaster about the insensitivity often shown to survivors. “I have very strong opinions about that,” she said, emphasizing the importance of portraying survivors realistically. This scene resonated deeply with her, showcasing the challenges Sienna faces post-trauma. Reflecting on the emotional weight of the script, LaVera admitted to feeling attached to the characters. “There are so many moments in Terrifier 2 and 3 that made me emotional when I first read them,” she stated, particularly referencing impactful scenes that left her deeply affected. Stunt Work and Challenges As a skilled martial artist, LaVera was challenged to portray Sienna’s fighting style authentically while still being directed to appear less pristine during action sequences. “Drew, our stunt coordinator, would tell me to mess it up. I’m used to sharp movements, but he wanted it to look messier,” LaVera shared, highlighting the learning curve involved in her stunt work. When discussing the film’s more gruesome moments, LaVera remained composed, noting that she was often shielded from the more intense practical effects on set. “I’m usually just beaten to a pulp, and I don’t see a lot of the practical effects,” she explained.
(Lauren LaVera’s Sienna Shaw and Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) in Terrifier 2 Courtesy of Cineverse) Future of the Franchise LaVera expressed excitement about the future of the "Terrifier" series, hinting at a potential Terrifier 4. “I’ve told Damien and Dave that I would literally follow them through hell,” she laughed, indicating her readiness to continue Sienna’s journey. Reflecting on her time working with M. Night Shyamalan as a body double on Split, LaVera acknowledged how that experience ignited her passion for acting. “I just wanted to see what it was like to be on a set,” she recalled. Her close collaboration with Shyamalan helped her develop as an actress, and she fondly remembered his supportive nature on set.
(Lauren LaVera’s Sienna Shaw in Terrifier 2 Cineverse) Conclusion As Terrifier 3 hits theaters, Lauren LaVera’s portrayal of Sienna Shaw continues to evolve, solidifying her status as a formidable final girl in the horror genre. With a deeper understanding of her character and a stronger production team behind her, fans can anticipate an exciting chapter in the franchise. I was just gonna drop a message thanking you for calling out that one person a few days ago that used art without credit but you honestly seem cool I like your blog : )
Hahaha no thanks necessary! People need to fkn quit it with how normal its become just to rip off artists and creators. The definition of art theft has gotten so misconstrued, who cares if youre not claiming the art as yours. People deserve to be credited for their work scream. I genuinely dont understand why you’d rather steal work that you seemingly like rather than reblog their shit? Like what a way to piss off creators that you apparently like omg.
#also hi 😚#if youre like more into horror and slashers and stuff my horror blog @raccoonspooky has posts n shit hahaha#im still salty that the post is up ngl like 🤡 that person’s very unashamed of their clown shoes i guess#like that person really had a thousand excuses and even tried to say that it was a ‘meme’ and therefore deserves no credit…? as if to say#their addition is what ‘makes’ their post of genuinely just stolen art#like they clearly want to bank attention from other people’s talent and then they dont respect the creators enough to even comprehend#that the art deserves proper credit its kinda sad the way this person views creators#sigh#they also apparently turned off replies so 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡#it’s certainly a hill to die on

I just saw on YouTube that MatPat has made a GTLive about Welcome Home.
I’m honestly conflicted. On the one hand, I am genuinely happy that a big YouTuber like MatPat has noticed Welcome Home, as I do love his theories on occasion.
But I’m also worried. After everything Clown has been through with the sudden rush of a massive following, and also me knowing how MatPat’s very large fan base can be VERY zealous, I’m genuinely worried for Clown. I know they’re going through a lot and are currently on a well deserved hiatus, but I do have the sudden thought that the prospect of MatPat’s fan base getting too zealous may end up doing harm in the long term for them. They have done that before on other things.
And that’s not even getting into MatPat potentially making a theory video about Welcome Home when the project hasn’t yet left the Prologue Stage of its story, which may end up again doing harm.
I wonder what your opinion on all of this may be. What do you think of MatPat covering this potentially as a theory and do you worry about his fan base becoming zealous for Welcome Home?
hello sweetheart! thank you so much for sending in this ask, and for putting your thoughts down in such a respectful manner - very well articulated 💖 i'm going to pop my response under a read more, as i feel it deserves a good chunk of text for a reply.
and if you're a new Welcome Home fan - welcome to the fandom! 🥰 here's a simple guide i wrote which explains what Welcome Home is, where the story is taking place, and how you can support the creator.
okay, here we go! ✨
first of all, i understand why you're concerned. this explosive growth has been tough for Clown - and having caught the edge of the tidal wave of attention just for Welcome Home fanworks, i don't blame them for being so stressed! no one could've predicted Welcome Home would blow up so much, although it is a testament to Clown's artistic talent and skill 🔥
here's the thing: fandom isn't something you can control. i feel that even though this concern comes from a good place, we may be sliding a little too close to gatekeeping territory, and that isn't fair. i totally get what you're saying about the overzealous part, but i don't believe there's anything inherent about being a fan of MatPat's content which would cause someone to behave in a disrespectful, boundary-overstepping manner. let's be clear: we are not inherently more deserving of enjoying Welcome Home just because we discovered it earlier, or any other trait that would separate the earlier fandom from a new influx of fans from MatPat.
again, i sympathise with your perspective. i was an old MatPat fan myself: a real creepypasta-obsessed teen who discovered all sorts of cool fandoms through him and other channels! but i don't think Welcome Home being covered by MatPat means there's a higher risk of harm, or that those fans in particular are more likely to exhibit inappropriate behaviour. i worry about fandoms which, when trying to make sure everyone is being respectful, end up creating an us vs. them mentality...and there's nothing i dislike more than fans who believe they're more entitled to enjoy media more for artificial reasons, like if they discovered it earlier, or know more about the property, or engage in fandom the 'correct' way (whatever that means) 😕
i think that just because Clown is (very understandably!) stressed and needs time to adjust, doesn't mean we should try and halt the popularity of Welcome Home - which would be both unfair and impossible. there's no criteria for whether or not someone can be a fan - all that is to be expected is that they are respectful and kind. we should continue as always: being respectful, and echoing Clown's wishes. i think we should welcome all these new fans and show them a great time! and if a fan does do something harmful, we shouldn't attack them; instead, we should let them know why that's not okay, and not assume everyone is out to do harm. ignorance isn't always out of malice, and many of us discussing this issue have the luxury of being older, and having had our younger years in fandom under much less scrutiny. perhaps there's this lingering anxiety due to the claims of fans doxxing/hacking, which Clown has since debunked as being odd fandom rumours.
ultimately, Clown put Welcome Home out into the world for other people to enjoy. MatPat is allowed to make theories on Welcome Home, and his fans are allowed to enjoy it too. this is the same as an unknown video game being covered by Markiplier, or a similar property being picked up by the nerdcore music community. yes, it's likely MatPat's fans may be on the younger side, and perhaps inexperienced with fandom etiquette or boundaries. however, this is a generalisation! i feel perhaps this anxiety with new fans coming in has something to do with our own overzealousness, and how in the early days we began making fanworks/interacting with Clown's content in ways which he's since stated he's not comfortable with 💖
at the end of the day: whether we're 13 or 55; whether we compile large documents full of information about the Welcome Home story or write gushing posts about how cute Wally Darling is; whether we've known Clown's work for years or are just discovering it today - we're all fans, and we all deserve to be here. being zealous is what fandom is all about! the best thing we can do is just keep on putting out positive energy, and encouraging all of that lovely, budding excitement. let's keep helping new fans learn about the amazing story of Welcome Home, and making them feel welcome too 🥰
#i hope this answers your question anon!! 💖#welcome home#welcome home arg#welcome home discussion#starleskatalks#starleskasks

YOU SAID SEND ASKS EVEN IF THEY'RE DUMB SO I'M GONNA SEND ONE.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE DAYCARE ATTENDANT WHEN SAW THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME (IN GAME AND IN FANDOM) AND WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOU REALLY, REALLY LIKED THEM?
okokokok so basically i was avoiding fnaf like the plague bc i am terrified of animatronics and horrible with jumpscares in particular! but my best friend is a long time big time fnaf fan and so since like 2017 i was consuming fnaf content passively through them, and even since the game came out i was seeing stuff about it i just never got into it bc it wasn't super appealing
i was really invested in afton family lore n such so i got into fnaf because of that but was avoiding most animatronic content bc weee big fear (a few exceptions of animatronics though i.e. ballora) I could not figure out why i was so scared of them but I FIGURED IT OUT!! more on that later-
so fnaf sb came out n ofc I was watching playthroughs on call w/ my friend (before i played it, i played it soon after) and when sun showed up i was very much,,,, not scared of em?? i could not figure out why?? but i didn't really *focus* on them cuz i wasn't super into fnaf outside of afton family stuff
my friend kept sending me sun and moon fanart bc I did not have an upset reaction to them which was abnormal up until that point, and so i started to actively think they were neat! not super into them to the extent i came to be though- but i did figure out that the reason i have no issue with them and do have an issue with outer animatronics is because of their eyes! even moon who has "pupils" doesnt have the horrible doll-like "realistic" eyes most of the animatronics have- which is what was so unnerving about them to me. absolutely hate dolls and stuffed animals with eyes i have no idea why but one day they were just BAD and as a kidd i threw all the ones i had away and never looked back for the most part,,, but anyways sun and moon's designs were very appealing to me as i've always loved clown/jester type designs, celestial designs, pantomime-esque designs, marionette/bjd type designs (every time i draw them they have ball joints even now), etc. i also love love play structures and i've also always lowkey wanted to work in early education or in a daycare so the very environment was appealing! the designs really hit all of my interests AND were free of what was terrifying about the other animatronics
ANYWAYS i think the turning point (like it was for a lot of people in this fandom) was bamsara's work/solar lunacy! up until that point i had specifically avoided and never touched self insert fics + art, but it's so well written it changed my initial views about the whole category entirely ! because of that i was able to appreciate/consume more of the dca fandom content, which has so many talented creators! aside from that i remember being really really invested in 8um8ble8ee's dca work!
the designs being so appealing to my interests is likely one of the main reasons though aya!! jesters! bells! glow in the dark! stars! sun and moon motif! they remind me of those porcelain pierrots- one of my interests is the history of pantomime/commedia dell arte! i really don't think there's one thing about them or one moment i can remember that i was like YOOOOOOOOO!!!! it kinda just took over my brain hdsjkhsad
anyways i do remember distinctly sometime last year going wait- wtf?? because i'd thought this was a small time interest! something small i'd only taken casual interest in for a month or so, like so many other things, but then realizing i'd been making ART (not just consuming media) of them since at least december of 2021??? which is kinda insane to me!! (/pos ofc) before that time i was going through a really messy and just bad point in my life, and one of the ways I was tracking time was by the way my hair looked- i'd gotten obsessed with mykull afton after all the bad stuff and impulse cut my hair into a mullet and re-dyed it my natural colour after having bleached it brown, but this "first" drawing of sun was BEFORE my hair changed?? which i had not realized at all?? somehow in my head it was bad thing->mykull->dca but it looks like i was consuming and creating dca content through it all
anyways hsjhsjakjas i forgot what i was saying but i think i just really really liked them since i first saw em- i just didn't realize how much they had infiltrated my life until later somehow?? so ~may 2022 was when but really it was more like ~dec 2021? they make me so so happy i have no idea what it is to be honest
so ye in-game wise it was sorta on sight, fandom wise it was bc of solar lunacy + 8um8ble8ee !!
i still think its really funny that i like em so much, considering some of my biggest fears are Animatronics, Jumpscares, and The Dark BAHAHAHA

hello rachel aka burnthatbridge aka dispatchpodcast ❤️🔥 we are a mere few hours away from the 6b premiere so emotions are heightened and I feel compelled to strike u with a bolt of love and admiration for the podcast the way buck is about to be struck by that lightning (rip to our boi 😔 but also HAHA!! YES!!)
so none of my irl friends watch the show and I’m not in any gcs therefore can’t go insane with other 911blrinas so it gets a bit lonely clowning by myself sometimes lmao. I still have fun yelling into the ether in my tags but I do occasionally think it would be cool if the ether yelled back fjskks
I always have the best time listening to the podcast cuz it feels simultaneously like I’m hanging out with friends, and also attending a riveting symposium with the foremost experts on FOX’s 9-1-1. shoutout to ur guests who are all ridiculously talented creators and incredibly fun ppl to listen to!! 🫶🏼 the insight we get into their work and bits and pieces of their lives is always so fascinating and hilarious. I’m currently on thee lafd updates man legend henswilsons’ ep and I am having. A. Blast. I love how long the eps are and that they sometimes get rambly or go off into random tangents bc it’s so immersive, like I’m at a café overhearing a couple besties go crazy about their hyperfixation lmfaooo
thank u for masterminding this project it genuinely brings me so much joy 💗💗💗 goodbye and godspeed to u and to me mwah mwah mwahhhh ⚡️😴
Hello!
I am so sorry I missed this before 6x10 aired. I hope you have survived - I’m not sure that I have!!! Can you believe that we still have to wait days until the next episode?! This sort of torture should be illegal!
I’m so glad that you enjoy the podcast. I started it because I was very much in the same position as you - no friends who watched the show, no group chats, desperate for someone to talk to who wasn’t just myself (or my exasperated sibling 😅). So to hear that it can fulfil some of that need to flail over the show for more than just me is wonderful 🥰
My guests are amazing and I cannot thank all of them enough for being willing to come on and have me pick their brains and force them to pick favourites. I also cannot thank you and all the other listeners enough, especially for tolerating my rambling and tangents (it still boggles me that somehow I got Mads and me talking about sheep…).
Thank you so much for your absolutely lovely message and I wish you and me and everyone else the best for the rest of 6B 💛💛💛

We hit 400 so here’s a- ✨ DREAM APPRECIATION ESSAY ✨
(by Yours Truly. Much thanks to the one, innocent anon who just wanted to ask a small talk question but hit my serotonin-providing hyperfixation.)
1. Self-esteem
I love the way he’s confident in his abilities when it’s become such a “trend” to either be completely and utterly self-depricating about your own skills out of fear of being labelled an asshole or overconfident nowadays.
At the same time you can still tell he doesn’t want to pull anyone down ever, and will always be really careful with that and take every oppertunity to lift up the people around him. Dream has a very emotional voice that gives him away a lot, so you can really tell he genuinely admires the people around him and he’s never afraid to say that they could totally easily beat him in something if he doesn’t have practice with it.
He tends to be a bit too hard on himself, so his friends always encourage him in his abilities, and that’s just. So nice. He celebrates his victories! He gets so so excited and happy when he wins in the manhunts, and I think celebrating your hard-earned victories isn’t something that should be villanized.
He won, and we should KNOW by now that doesn’t mean he thinks he’s somehow better than everyone. He has a pretty good eye on his abilities, and that allows him to really use them to the max.
2. Morality
He isn’t afraid to change the game! His adhd picks out a Cool New Thing and he just goes, You know what? Why not! His adhd goes “do this thing repeatedly another 3847 times” and he’s like, yeah sure!
Nobody expected him to release a song, but he just went for it! He’s been speedrunning so much, but he isn’t afraid to stream it every day 5 days in a row for hours while his friends bicker in the background.
Dream genuinely does the things he finds fun, but at the same time puts in so much effort to make them good and entertaining to watch and never forgets about his viewers.
He’s kidfriendly because he wants to be! Fame-wise, at this point he could definitly swear more if he wanted to (and he does when in other people’s content who don’t care about swearing), but despite that he doesn’t swear on his main because he wants his content to be accessable for everyone.
Sure, on one hand it could be for clout/money, but consider: Dream doesn’t stream the DSMP because he doesn’t want to take attention away from other people. He participates in the videos of his friends. He lets compilation channels and the like do whatever they want and even monetize his content. He lets his friends stream Road Trip on twitch as much as they want for free.
Dream doesn’t not swear just for his fanbase, but he does it because he has so so much respect for people. No matter how high he goes, he’s always consciously focused on respecting and admiring the people around him.
He has genuine respect for creators so much smaller than him, and he has respect for people in his fanbase that are younger than him. He isn’t afraid to go against the norm and STAND for that, either (see the video where he defends his stans).
And he defends his friends so much too! So much so it could almost be a little bit of a flaw sometimes, but I feel like he truly wants to learn from his mistakes. He apologizes for things even when nobody asked him to, and that just shows that he does it out of genuine guilt and fear of hurting someone.
He’s always seemed like someone who is genuinely willing to change to be a better version of himself, who isn’t afraid to challenge what he thinks and what other people think and what the norm thinks in order to improve everything for everyone.
Dream also doesn’t let any of the fame get to his head! As I said before - he’s confident in the things he’s good at, but in a way that doesn’t pull other people down, and he still remains firmly admirable of other people.
And even when OTHER people let fame get to their head (it was a while ago, but there was a video he made about five block jumps, where he added in a clip of a video of another guy doing it complete with credit and link etc. The guy was 100% alright with it at first, but when his video started getting more views because Dream’s video blew up, he started accusing Dream of “stealing” his content (when dozens of other videos of the 5 block jump already existed, and Dream could’ve just put in a clip of himself doing the jump)),,, but he insisted in his reponse that fame gets to people’s heads sometimes, nobody should blame anybody, he genuinely was never upset at him and just said that this just... happens sometimes.
He’s a very forgiving person all around, in part due to being willing to challenge his own norms and give people the benefit of the doubt JUST in case he’s wrong. He lets people enjoy things so long as they aren’t hurting anybody, like allowing people to ship him w people who are also alright with shipping, but at the same time taking a hard stance on, say, how shipping minors is absolutely wrong and should not be done ever (and he’s right).
3. Fandom
He appreciates said fanart and fanworks as well! He thinks dnf fanart is cool and he even appreciates the fanfic part of his fandom, something many ccs wish to ignore or forget it exists altogether (and it IS ofc in their right to do so or be uncomfortable with such content!), but Dream sees the work put into it and how people find connections and friendships through the fandom and appreciates it all the same.
He loves his fandom. So much. But not in the overdone, fake-feeling way I’ve seen other ccs be,,,, he’s just. Quiet and shy and genuine about it but not afraid to defend it.
He’s said before - and I QUOTE - “If you send hate to people or have sent hate to people, in the form of hateful comments or DMs, you aren’t welcome in my fandom. You’re no fan of mine”, which is the HOTTEST take he’s ever uttered and I love that. He really just went and said that. And he’s right. I like that despite how he’s usually more held back and waits things out before taking a stance, he chose this topic to really take a hard stance on and not budge and stick to it.
Pmbata has also said that he believes his fans have his back no matter what!! And that he really loves them a lot!!! And I am!! Emotional!!!!
4. ND/Adhd
He has adhd which is something I relate to personally (I have it as well sdlkfj). He gets excited sometimes!! I love how he shows being fidgety in mc, always pacing and parcouring around,, the way that in manhunts you can SEE when he’s thinking or bouncing back and forth between two options,,, or the way he gets close to people in mc to laugh with them.... He shows so much with his movements by them being quick and daring and calculated (and it’s especially hilarious to watch other people react to it in the video “mc but three people control one player”, where he’s the one moving and Sapnap and George will gasp or go “Dream!!” in surprise when Dream was THIS close to falling off a ledge, but he just laughs sdlkfjsdf).
When he’s not moving around he stands perfectly, perfectly still (which, idk if thats what all adhd ppl have, but I know I have something similar? Like when I’m nervous I’ll sometimes just. Freeze in place. No movement at all). He’s just relatable sdkjf.
There was one Manhunt extra scenes where he,,,,, stims by clapping,,,,,, the lil excited clap in the background,,, I’m gonna cry. I’m so soft for excited Dream that one is such a comfort clip for me!
He also tends to stim by getting under trap doors and then jumping back out of them, or jumping up a block and then walking back down over and over (especially noticable in The Village Went Mad tftsmp episode, where they were all discussing who the murderer could be and he was the only one moving, hopping up the log and then running back down again).
Also it is. Really Soft when he starts rambling and overexplaining something. What’s even better is that George, who is usually present at such moments, will laugh a little at his antics, and Dream will automatically laugh with him.
5. Rp/Uplifting other ccs
Dream wasn’t all THAT into the rp at first, but his server has been so strongly supporting and giving attention to smaller creators that he’s since completely rolled along with it. Being a villain in the RP is a difficult role because you will, inevitable, as much as it is just roleplay and all scripted, always get some amount of dislike from people for it.
Despite that, he’s basicly the main big villain on his own server where he let a bunch of theater kids beat him up in character and imprison him on his OWN SERVER. He wasn’t as into the rp at first, but has obviously been practicing and joins every Tales of the SMP when he can, despite getting zero clout for it.
What Dream also tends to do is find small content creators, see their talent and lift them high. His entire discord server is dedicated to give smaller ccs a place to grow, and when he first found Tubbo, Tommy, Ranboo, etc., they were much much smaller than they are now. He truly wanted to help them make it big.
He’s also added Foolish Shark and Hannah onto the SMP, both much smaller ccs (not tiny, but you get what I mean), allowing them to grow. He doesn’t stream on his OWN SERVER. He let himself get imprisoned to let the good guys win on his OWN. SERVER. He’s willing to play the villain and everything.
An interesting thing though! A lot of people used to/still do clown on Dream a bit for his sometimes uncertain acting,,, but when he’s around people he knows well (Sapnap and George, Tubbo and Tommy) we’ve seen him go ALL OUT. I have the theory Dream might be genuinely afraid to accidentally be mean to someone in character and have them misinterpret it sldkfjsdf,,, so he’s rly careful when he goes into the rp, and sometimes even when he’s in it he goes quiet, especially with other people around.
But also the fact that he needs time to feel comfortable around ppl is,, a mood,,, and adorable,,, sdlfkjsdf-
Apparently he’s also shared his youtube algorithm secrets with Tommy?? Which he had only shared with Sapnap and George before?? Dream took one look at that chaotic kid and immedietly adopted him as his little brother. He literally got up super early to rp the prison visit. Idk about ya’ll but I would die for someone first and get up horribly early for them second-
6. Friends!!
Dream?? Considers so so many people his friends?? And despite having so many friends, he also has his few closest friends (George and Sapnap) whom he would absolutely die for in a heartbeat. He WILL defend them with everything he has and loves them so so much.
He listens to them and really, truly wants them to succeed. He respects them so much and will go OFF about how good they actually are and how talented they are and how important they are to him.
I can’t even COVER everything about how much he is SOULMATES with Gorg. They live in each others heads rent-free. He mentions him all the time. They get!! So happy when they’re around each other!!! Their voices get so soft,,
And I can’t even BEGIN to explain the energy of Sapnap and Dream just moving together permanently. Imagine moving together with your best friend. Like, permanently. Into one house. They’re best friends Your Honor,,,,
Also,, remember the Techno and Dream rivalry? And Dream has recently said that he’s hesitant to make a serious manhunt against Techno because he doesn’t want there to be any feud between them or have them be compared to each other. He said that while he absolutely wanted nothing more than to beat Techno at first, now that he knows him better he just wants to be friends with him. He wants to be FRIENDS. With his, essentially, mc RIVAL. Friendly rival, but still. He doesn’t even wanna fight Techno or have ppl compare them cause he,,, wants to be friends with him,,,,
7. Vulnerability
What I feel like really sets Dream apart from some other ccs for me is that he’s willing to be vulnerable. He will tell George he loves him. He defends his friends. He sounds so, so genuine when he tells his fandom that he loves them.
What’s just really rare to see, especially in male ccs, is that vulnerability. It’s becoming more acceptable as time goes on, but it’s certainly not easy, and a lot of people become and stay long-term fans BECAUSE they can see how genuine he is.
I know Dream looks up to Mr. Beast a lot, for example, but honestly? I think he’s a little better than Mr. Beast. Because he feels more genuine, more bound to what he believes is right. I’m sure Mr. Beast isn’t a bad content creator! But ultimately they have different target audiences and I’m very glad Dream is the way he is.
Less of that insecure masculinity and more willing to be vulnerable, to care about things, to get emotional and to encourage and uplift the people around him.
8. Pure Brainrot
Green boi has nice deep calm soothing voice. Little shy laugh. Wheeze laugh. Gorg live in his head rent-free. He lov friends. He lov block game. He good at block game,,, a little shy but confident,,, big heart,,,, soft voice,,,,, rambles sometimes....
He also Gender. He’s so gender. I don’t know how else to describe it. I want That. Whatever That is. My gender is Dreamwastaken
#mcyt#mcytblr#dreamwastaken#dream#dream appreciation#long post#dreamteamspace speaks#space writes#yes this goes in my writing tag#this is Way too many words to only be in my normal tag#but how many dream apreciation essays have you written fear huh?
