After days of bothering, annoying and pestering Walter, Charlie (my character, thank you) finally got their favourite ship, from previous universes, back.

First thing they do: paint it, blue.

✮⋆˙ hiori likes to rebel in any sense he can from his parents. maybe it's staying out a little after curfew, spending ridiculous amounts of his allowance on steam rather than something more practical. and his favourite of course, lying about 'extra training with karasu' which is really just code for 'doing anything BUT training with karasu' or in more recent events, fooling around with you, his friend who he 'just messes around with' and totally doesn't have major feelings for

cw/additional notes; potentially ooc, gn! reader, angst(?),manga spoilers/spoilers for hiori's backstory and mild spoilers to one of the light novels, mild suggestive content (it's just kissing nothing nsfw), vee's poor attempt at writing a makeout scene and physical intimacy beyond hand holding, i wanted to try my hand at writing a different characterization of hiori because i feel like my prev mini series of him was very fluffy and i wanted to branch out a bit!

Hiori Yo was absolutely gorgeous

This was a sentiment you often found yourself having time and time again. No matter how often, how obvious is was, Hiori was beautiful.

He had long luscious lashes, baby blue locks and the biggest most adorable cyan coloured doe eyes ever. He was prettier than most girls in your class, and yet he still had a slight bit of masculinity to him that made him so handsome.

And yet, contrary to his appearance, he wasn't soft nor pliant and sweet. His hands were calloused and rough. He didn't feel soft when he tried to find refuge in your arms, he felt slender and toned, presumably from all the training he underwent.

He wasn't some perfect boy you could always find comfort in, not some unattainable ideal that could be ripped straight from a swoon worthy rom com, he harbored so many intense feelings, so many things that he kept underneath that same facade of innocence and compliance he kept up with everyone.

When he kissed you it wasn't gentle or slow like a blooming flower or a child's first love. It was rough, insistent, demanding. Like a scared soul, desperately trying to find refuge.

He wasn't the perfect boyfriend. He wasn't even your boyfriend. Just a boy in your class who you would fool around with to escape reality.

And yet you loved him so.

So here you were, pressed up against him in some secluded area of your school courtyard his tongue practically shoved down your throat with the same demanding force he always used. And no matter how many times you experienced it, you could never quite brace yourself.

Hiori's kisses always caught you off guard. There were never any gentle touches or tender teasing to preface the intimacy, no soft whispers of love and devotion, there was never any hesitation, never a moment to think. Just his soft pillowy lips pressed against your's in a constant wave of urgency and desperation, almost pleading to just let him have you like this, even for a little bit.

You gently pulled away for a moment, almost having to hold the other boy down to prevent him from pouncing on you yet again, a thick string of saliva connected your equally bruised lips, you flicked your gaze up to meet his own.

Thin frost rings of cyan were barely visible as his pupils were so blown wide open with lust, he chased your lips, as if parting from you for even a moment would kill him then and there, but you pressed a splayed hand over his mouth as you continued your staggered breathing.

"H-hey...God, you're gonna suffocate me at this rate..."

Hiori huffed for a second, grabbing your wrist and holding it down so he could press a chaste kiss to the corner of your lips without resistance. "I don't fuckin' care..." He mumbled as he trailed more soft, open mouthed kisses down your jawline and across your neck. Hearing Hiori curse was like hearing an angel commit a heresy-it wasn't impossible, but it felt so out of place-and yet the words seemed to fall so easily from his lips, so naturally.

It made you remember just how little you really knew about him on a personal level.

It would be a completely different story if you were talking about your physical relationship with him, but you weren't, and you most definitely didn't want to because you would trade all these clandestine meetings if it meant you had a chance at getting to know Hiori properly.

You would give up this excuse of a relationship with him in a heartbeat if he would just open up his own heart to you. If he could just let you see what he really needed to use you as an escape from, even for a moment.

Out of nowhere, you felt a sudden absence of warmth. Pulling you from your thoughts you were met with the sight of Hiori drawing himself back for a moment.

"Yer' distracted."

He said bluntly, he looked annoyed, his eyes briefly flickered back and forth between your lips and your eyes. Hiori wrapped his hands around your wrists and guided them to his lower abdomen, those same doe eyes burning into your soul with a hunger that you had grown all to familiar with.

"I don't mind if ya' touch me more..."

He leaned his forehead against your's, his own lips trying to coax another kiss from you. Your hands, clammy and shaking slightly, moved to cup his face and push him down once more. This time, he looked perplexed rather than annoyed.

"Did I do somethin' wrong?"

"No...I'm just not in the mood right now."

Lies.

Lying to Hiori felt so strange. You knew that he was the one who kept more secrets than you did. Yet even that knowledge didn't stop the feeling of your heart dropping with guilt as you noticed he looked almost hurt at your blatant fabrication.

This time you had to force yourself to pull away, you truly didn't want to, but you desperately needed time gather your own thoughts. Your hands flew to your collar to readjust your uniform's top and tie.

You were about to stand up and mutter a quick goodbye to Hiori-giving him a proper one would only make you want to stay back more-before you suddenly felt his hand on your sleeve, tugging you back down.

"Stay. Please? I-"

His words seemed to get caught in his throat, his eyes looked like they were pleading with you, "Just stay for the rest of lunch."

He was almost begging at this point, icy blue eyes staring into your's, almost shaking with something akin to fear. He looked almost vulnerable.

"I need you."

You hated how those three simple words made your face flush bright red, how they made your heart stop for just a moment. You hated how easy it was for him to make you swoon.

You hated how much you loved Hiori Yo.

He pulled you down into an uncharacteristically warm embrace, burying his head into the crook of you neck, you could feel his soft, short, hair tickled your neck and jaw. He let out a heavy sigh, and you couldn't bring yourself to resist him.

"So much has just been going on. School, soccer, my parents. God I hate them so much...It's just...A lot you know?"

He craned his head up so he could look at you, brushing some stray strands of hair out of your face so he could properly look at you.

"And...you've helped take my mind off things. I guess that's why I like you so much."

You cupped his face for real this time, cradling his head in your hands. It really didn't take much for him to have you wrapped around his finger. Always at his beck and call.

You savored the tender softness for all that you could. It left as quick as you came, and as soon as Hiori knew he could have you again, he took you.

When you were together, Hiori Yo could pretend everything was okay.

And when he found refuge in your arms, you could pretend that he was your's.

I'm revisiting some of my favourite dice designs, but now with alternative dice shapes!

This dice set is made with only the colours cyan, magenta and yellow which combine into a rainbow spectrum.

I love all the fun and unique ways you draw fanart of characters from ace attorney (and other things) but my favourite detail by far is you giving Maya purple eyes.

It really ties her whole design together super well, given it's her main colour, and I assume that's why you draw her with purple eyes, plus it's also just a cool eye colour in general.

OMG I GET TO TALK ABOUT MY LEAST/MOST FAVORITE THING EVER: COLORS!!!

One thing that many ppl realize about me is that: i have a VERY short attention span. I get lazy when things take too long, even if i enjoy it!

SO! When designing each character in my style, i like to make it so they are easy to color bc it’s so tedious to me, especially cus i make animations and comics rather than full pieces!

This means that all the colors match to SOME OTHER thing on them!

BUT!!! Theres MORE to it! Bc despite my love for ease and swift-art? I LOVE SYMBOLISM EVEN MORE!!!!

These two for example: Have eachother’s color palette match something on the other’s!

All of the mother kids have the same red or yellow or blue on them! Save for claus who has a cyan to differentiate him from the actual protagonists, yet still being a form of blue because. well.

Here they are - Apothecary Khorag Sinj and seven of his Plague Marine brothers!

Building them unique bases was so much fun! And painting them with the warm earthy green-tones and contrasting that with a cool cyan-heavy purple makes the lighter parts pop.

I now have painted a little over 50 miniatures since I started the hobby and I am still at the beginning of my learning curve. But it's fun and I want to continue. I am starting to develop my own handwriting, I guess. It's like with my 2D paintings: very bright, cartoony colours and a lot of gradients.

aaaaand here is my ashido mina costume redesign!!! really happy w how the design turned out, not so sure on the drawing itself. drew it back in may and i've been looking at it ever since, so i've noticed a few things that i could fix, but its been too long so i'd have to redo the whole thing and ahahah no. may redo it in the future, but for now it gets the job done. it was deffo fun trying to draw mina, she's a dear favourite of mine so it was fun to play around with her inhuman appearance. i wasn't sure if i managed to capture my hc appearance of her, but her canines aren't sharp they're just kinda large and stick out slightly. there's a japanese term for it, yaeba, and it's generally regarded as a cute thing. also her tongue and inner mouth is more vibrant red, which i thought would go with her pink skin. her skin is pink due to her quirk and while using the ph scale, the highest strength acid is usually red. i thought it fit lol. also please praise me on the name, while i will forever adore her going as alien queen, i LOVE the unique-ness of cy[pH]er.

Last song? Great question, I very rarely listen to songs. The last one I actively searched for... the Little Shop of Horrors track. Was wip motivated, and I just love all the tunes.

Last book? Guys you'll never guess this one. It definitely wasn't Lord of the Rings.

Favourite colour? Dark cyan/dark turquoise colours - very similar to my blog. One wall in my bedroom is actually painted this way.

Last movie? I think Joker 2. Personally don't see the critique it's getting, as I quite enjoyed it.

Sweet/savoury/spicy? Always sweet, I have a very sweet tooth.

Last show? Currently watching the UK traitors, which is always great - highly recommend it, and the Australian version. The US version is good - but as reality entertainment in a way the other two aren't. (Haven't watched any other versions, but I'm hoping too.)

Current obsession? Will Lord of the Rings ever leave me? Probably not, so I'll go with... swords and proper technique. Watching a lot of videos on the moment, for the fated duel that will never come.

Last thing I searched up? 'Dark cyan' and 'dark turquoise' - I have no mental image, so I often need to check colour's names to make sure I'm referring to them properly.

Looking forward to? The weekend. Partially because I think I'm finally going to carve out some time to write my months entry for @/ yearoftheopt event.

The Locations Made You Forget the Storm (Act 1)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (spoiler)

✨Wepepe yapping time ✨

Yes, I want to yap about how beautiful the world is how contrast each location to another, and how it also speak for the story (to me at least) I'm gonna yap based on the pace of the main story here. (sorry if some of the writings are wrong english is not my native language)

The Dark Shore Our first location when the expedition 33 reach the continent. This is place already set the tone really dark compare to Lumiér.

The Dark Shore colours are combination of black, muddied purple and grey, gives the dark, and depressing feeling, the ship wrecks and human corpses scream DEATH to our face, but this also what the Expeditioners expected in their journey, they just didn't expect it will be this soon (me too, and our first trauma from the game)

The Spring Meadows

After that we switch to Gustave, survived and covered in blood and suddenly we're at Spring Meadows, and how's the place looks like? CALM, RELAXING, beautiful and bright, we can hear the sound of waterfall, the breeze, and see so many lush greens, completely 180 of what just happened.

Gustave may have thought he was dead and like "is this heaven?" until he met a Nevron. It's like the game telling us "okay, you got your trauma, here's a place to make you calm down"

There are some areas in this location that have a dominant colour, when we will be fighting the first boss fight, Évêque. Blue-Cyan, Cyan represent calm, tranquility, rejuvenation, and relaxing (although fighting the boss is not relaxing at all) narratively the location of Spring Meadows is the calm after the storm.

These two locations (Dark Shores and Spring Meadows) show that contrast of Clair Obscur, Light Dark, Death and Rejuvenation.

The Flying Waters

This next location is my favourite, Flying Waters (or weird corals as Verso wrote it lol) speak surrealism to me. Like we're dreaming, sense of wonders and creativity. Water also symbolize tranquility and calmness, still related to Spring Meadows a bit with the theme.

My meta explaination in this, is the game wanted to show that "painting" aspect, hence it use surrealism for this place, a dreamlike atmosphere, this also could distract us from the traumatic tragedy.

The Manor

From the Flying Waters to this, is like we're waking up from a dream, and back to reality. The Manor feels like the anomaly in this world, because everything looks weird and more surrealist, but this place looks normal. It's a luxurious manor, very luxurious. The golden lights dominate the whole manor atmosphere.

This place scream RICH, but empty, and cold, the big space in the manor really showed the hollowness although they have furnitures and paintings filing the walls, and all of the walls in every rooms have motifs, there's no empty, bland wall, but yet the place still feel empty and lonely.

Could be mirroring how the Dessendre family is feeling, they have everything (material) but they also loose everything, because of the grief that consume them.

Flying Waters and the Manor also symbolize that Clair Obscur, Dream and Reality.

The Ancient Sanctuary & Gestral Vilage

From Blue to Red, this is also another contrast shifting, Blue give us sense of calm, while Red give us adrenaline, but red also represent danger and alert, because the Gestral want to fight because they just love to fight.

It's like the game telling you "okay now you calm down a bit from the storm, let's get ready to fight again!" the previous two locations are for us to get used with the combat, so the environment atmosphere didn't scream at you.

Although there's another location that use red as the dominated color (Crimson Forest) but compare to the Gestral location, this location still have harmony and sense of warm, combine of red leaves and grass with woods and warm lighting from the sun, this can also showed although the Gestral can be aggressive and fight you, they still have that welcoming side.

Esquie Nest

Esquie's Nest is interesting, the colours atmosphere are mix shades of purple from Indigo and Violet. I say interesting because the previous locations are dominated with Blue and Red, two colors that mix into purple. Indigo lean more into the blue side, while Violet lean more into red.

Another contrast location from the previous, outdoors to indoors and limited lights.

Indigo symbolize: tranquility and mystery. Violet symbolize: imagination and dreams.

The symbolization of the colors is exactly how I feel when I enter Esquie Nest, feels calm and dreamy, but yet mysterious because we don't get much information about Esquie from the location, beside so many mushrooms and hanging lamps, only the carving of Esquie statue showed us a hint who's the host of this place, but we still don't know what is he?

The Stone Wave Cliff

Can you feel the DRASTIC change of tone, from Spring Meadows, Flying Waters, Ancient Sanctuary, Esquie Nest to this? the obvious is the desaturation of color, this place smells grey and ash. VERY depressing, and it fit with the story.

After we met Esquie we help him find Florrie, but the shock revelation is Gustave died here, the tone of this place told you already that another storm will hit you, and just like when we were at the Dark Shore, we didn't expect it will be this soon (or even happen)

and of course Renoir is there again, the grim reaper, taking another soul of an expeditioner.

After I arrange all of the locations for act 1 story, it's like the locations make us to forget what happen in the Dark Shore, and hit us again where we didn't expected. I expect there will be a fight of course, just like the whole Expedition 33 when they arrived at the Dark Shore.

But to loose Gustave this quickly?! NO! and it's amazing how the game play with us, give us sense of wonder seeing the locations and how different they look and feel from one another.

Until we enter Stone Wave Cliff, it's that atmosphere of depressing, somber and death. Coming back to us.

Anyway that's my thought of the locations, this is my first time writing analysis post lol. Sorry if it didn't sound that ground breaking 😅 but after writing this, that final conclusion just hit me too. This just making me love the game even more.
