sorry to still be thinking about it but its amazing the amount of people who are willing to overlook one of the core elements of konoha's history (and by extension of naruto as a whole) which is the marginalisation and straight up segregation of the uchiha clan just because the character who kickstarted all of it has a cool design and is really strong. tobirama hated the uchiha to the point where his own brother while on his DEATHBED had to make him promise not to hurt them so he made up the police force and assigned it to the uchiha so they could be effectively unable to do literally any other job while also making sure everyone else in konoha hated them because they felt constantly under watch by the red eyed freaks. tobirama's excuse was that he didnt actually hate the uchiha, just madara, who was coincidentally their most powerful member, so the uchiha exiled him bc they believed tobirama. and what did that accomplish? that when madara died nobody claimed his body and tobirama took it to STUDY it and then buried him in an unmarked grave (which ironically worked in madara's favor later). tobirama "i dont hate the uchiha one of my students was an uchiha" senju just so happened to also "raise" one of the biggest uchiha haters in konoha history, danzo, who not only furthered their marginalisation and demonization but also orchestrated their whole entire MASSACRE just so he could steal their eyes.
but sure the two things are completely unrelated and tobirama and danzo are very different and nothing matters

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reasons for submission under the cut
Kakashi
relatable as an adult
he is just an overworked guy who was told to watch some kids w LOTS of issues
needs therapy
good presence and guidance in Narutos life
interesting
cares about and is dedicated to his students very much
he is just cool
he is trying his best despite what he has been through in the past

just wanted everything to be ok for once in his life
hated Danzo
his friendship with Gai is adorable
the way he teases Tenzo is fun
he’s known as cool and aloof but in reality he’s a huge dork
Gai would want him to win
Gai
was instrumental in the success of the story - he may not have won against Madara, but he put fear in him and had it not been for hacks, he would have decimated him where no one else could
believes whole-heartedly in his student to the point of dedicating his life to making him a splendid ninja
came from nothing, worked his way up from nothing, and is now considered to be one of the greatest shinobi to have come out of the Hidden Leaf. People know and fear him
made Itachi bail. That man was ready to fight everyone else, but packed it up when Gai came on the scene
kicked Jiraiya in the face and never properly apologized
great salesperson - always has a spare jumpsuit to give to passers-by and hook them on his favorite brand. True influencer and fashion icon
had a bowl cut before it was cool
was a great friend to Kakashi, and was there for him during the highs and lows of his horrifically stressful life. Arguably saved Kakashi's life with his constant support, and the story could not have happened without him. Is considered by Kakashi - one of the most powerful and infamous shinobi in the world - to be his equal and his best friend
loves kids. Supports his own students like he was their father, and equally takes pride in Naruto and protected Sasuke after Sasuke's first run in with Itachi
in the anime, he is shown to be hard on the outside but clearly permissive in that he would sneak Chouji food in the middle of a mission and try to push Naruto into figuring out who Minato was
confident in himself and confident in others - he is everyone's biggest cheerleader and he isn't just talk; he'll work hard with you. When he says he'll do something, nothing will stop him and he will follow his promises even when no one is watching.
hot. Man has pretty privilege
amazing, supportive teacher and friend
he is always trying to be positive in such a dark world and cheer up those around him
he's so good to Lee, Tenten, and Neji, you can just tell how much he cares about those kids
his speech to Lee was super moving. He knew Lee was scared and made sure to be there for him

If sakura and hinata were redeemed in naruto, would anyone even care? I feel as if I wouldn't care much, especially for sakura, cuz they've done too much. I think I would still hate them and some others wouldnt buy it.
I mean, say like Sakura was redeemed all of a sudden in boruto, would that be enough to overcome how she she treated other's throughout all the story? Especially Sasuke. Would redeeming her be enough to overcome how she harasses him all the time? Would it be enough to overcome how she chased sasuke and gave him a child he never wanted? Like she gets redeemed and goes "oops, I know you never wanted this but I'm sorry now and I'm a changed person, won't happen again." Like the damage is done, she's harassed him and chased him till he gave in, how can you better yourself after you've gotten what you wanted? redeeming can't reverse that damage. Or how she treated Naruto "sorry for being a bully and hitting you for no reason but I'm changed now, won't do it again." Apart from narusaku audience, which audience is gonna buy that? Like it's unconvincing she would get redeemed and then would apologize to naruto as it just so happens to be when he's hokage and she's got her prize Sasuke. Or for ino she gets redeemed and apologises for how she treated her, but it unconvincing because sakura has won Sasuke, so she and ino aren't fighting over him anymore.
Or for Hinata,"S..so...sorry n.nn....naruto-kun for guilt tripping you to marry me, I.. I.. I won't do it again, I'm better and changed." Like, he's already married to her and started a family. It's not going to mean much?
Based of the ask someone sent abt if it's possible Sakura and hinata could get redeemed. Like you've said in your reply, anyone can get redeemed, but I feel like it would be unconvincing or at the least, take a lot of work to redeem these two. This is just my opinion I could be wrong.
But that's the thing. If Sakura and Hinata were redeemed in Naruto, it would have meant something significant, and it would have contributed to the narrative and plot, because if the plan were to redeem them, then logically Naruto and Sasuke would be made to get together at the end. Look at what Sakura and Hinata represent. Two heteronormative selfish, entitled, unsympathetic, boy crazy girls who would potentially make into women who would force gay men to marry them to keep their illusions of love afloat. They don't give a shit as long as they get what they want, even at the expense of their spouses' well being or their own long term happiness. It was necessary for them to be written that way to facilitate the Brokeback Mountainesque situation in Boruto, no? What with the whole story being a love story and Sakura and Hinata as tools that were used to keep Naruto and Sasuke prisoners to their miserable lives, life of a shinobi who is supposed to live in the darkness, enduring all the misery silently. It's not the kind of world that will accept them, certainly not Naruto, someone who was systematically and institutionally ostracized, an orphaned, homosexual boy who is fated to be THE person in the world that will change it for the better. And this was the only way to resolve this story, in order for it to justify the new gen story, hence becoming the tragic ending that we hate. So the antipathy towards these ladies never got resolved. However, in order for their redemption to happen in the manga, a lot of things would need changing. Like the state of the shinobi world. A lot of things would need changing if Sasuke and Naruto were written to finally get together. Yes, the ending as it is now feels contrived. It is contrived. But it is not meaningless. The shinobi world has been established as a cruel world, where people don't get what they deserve. Look at Haku, look at Madara, look at Kisame, look at Neji, Sasuke, Naruto, Uchiha clan. And those who get it, don't deserve it. Look at Sakura, look at Hinata, look at Sarutobi, look at Tobirama, look at Danzo, look at village elders.
I agree with you that it won't matter if they were redeemed in Boruto. Boruto is not about the boys, they are supporting characters in it. Their story was Naruto and Shippuden. Which is over. And obviously, Kishi made it a point post Shippuden to keep Hinata and Sakura's the same as before, so it doesn't look like he is planning to redeem them. Looks like status quo would persist in the distant future.
However, it could have been done in Shippuden. And like I said in the other post you mentioned, anyone can be redeemed in a show and it is all believable as long as the writer justifies it within the story itself. I used the example of Orange is the new black, because it shows a whole host of complex characters, deeply flawed and yet realistic characters who were written to justly finish their redemption arc. Take Maria's character, a secondary antagonist in the story. Maria is quiet and shy as a kid but given her circumstances, she transforms into a take charge dynamo of a person, very impressive and self assured, she takes after her religious leader/drug trafficker father, who can charm the masses and lead them. She steals from her place of work, she cheats on her husband, she doesn't feel any regret about it. She gets caught and is sentenced for fraud. She works her way in the prison, but navigating the prison life brings out the worst in her, she eventually becomes the leader of the prison riot. She becomes a full fledged bully, a sadist, she has no ethical compass anymore. This leads to her stint in the max security prison, where she is made to eat the humble pie, she learns that life could get even harder, and the choices she has been making has been leading her into even deeper shit, away from her daughter that she loves so much, away from her friends that were her family in the prison. She joins the church, she makes amends to people she has harmed. Her redemption arc is shown throughout the last two seasons, by the end of which, she makes the least destructive of all choices, she apologizes to Gloria, her close friend whom she betrayed, and lets her loving and kind husband to marry the woman he loves, her husband whom she treated very unkindly in the past, despite him being so devoted to her. She agrees to let her husband marry another woman, a woman he loves genuinely, because for once, she thinks about her husband, and not herself. She commits a selfless act.
There were many instances where Sakura was written with a possibility to demonstrate maturity. The reason why Kishi wrote those scenes that way was that, when a character does something decidedly immature at a place or time where the opportunity was so damn ripe to do something mature, and doesn't do it despite everything that has happened before in the plot which had led to the current situation, the character loses credibility in the eyes of the audience. Audiences aren't foolish. Any good writer knows this. The way Kishi wrote Sakura's scenes, stresses even more on the fact that her character simply didn't evolve. Remained the same. That's what narrative motifs are about. This way, the reader is able to glean the meaning out of the scene, as intended by the author easily. It makes the impression the author wants his writing to make. Kishi made it quite clear that the reason why Naruto followed Sasuke was to save him and help him, to relieve his loneliness, to protect him. To be there for him, because he loves Sasuke and he KNOWS Sasuke reciprocates his feelings, even if he makes excuses to hide them, actions speak louder than words. As is evidenced in vote one especially. Sakura was written to chase after Sasuke for her own selfish reasons, where she simply ignores the need to know the truth about Uchiha massacre or any wish to actually know or understand Sasuke. Which Sasuke is clearly shown to understand about her. That's why he keeps telling her that she is annoying, just casually, an off the cuff remark lol. But when Naruto follows him, he gets very reactive, very disturbed, very distracted. Because he knows why Naruto is doing it, he suspects it. He keeps asking Naruto why because he wants to get confirmation from Naruto. Which he gets at the end. Point is, Sakura was shown to be selfish till the end, starting with part one, and then in the kage arc, war arc, just before vote two, at the end when she responds to Sasuke's apology as if she deserved it all along, and then asks if Sasuke would take her on his redemption journey. And then in Boruto and Gaiden.
Naruto on the other hand is shown as the one who is ready to share Sasuke's burdens and die with him in the same scene where Sakura tried to stab Sasuke in the back.
If you truly have conviction in your love, if you know that you love for the right reasons and if you truly care about your object of love, you would do things very differently from what Sakura did to Sasuke consistently in the manga. And all of it was shown to be done by Naruto. Who knows he loves for the right reasons, he would be a fool in love but not leave Sasuke's side because that's how much he believes, they resonated with each other even when they didn't know how to articulate it, they were both lonely. Naruto believes in his love for Sasuke and he knows Sasuke loves him, because he showed it to Naruto, with actions more than words. Naruto changes, he evolves in the course of the manga, he becomes better in every aspect, because he is constantly inspired by the memory of Sasuke, because of the motivation of protecting him and being his rock.
True love is courageous. True love doesn't hide behind empty words and excuses. True love justifies the words that have been said by the lovers. True love doesn't say the words and then take them back in the face of adversities. True love makes it happen despite the odds. That's the glory of true love. That's why it inspires us. That's why Sasuke was convinced by Naruto and not anyone else at the end. Sakura was given all the chances and suggestive realisations but still no redemptive action. Same with Hinata. She realises she is being selfish when jumping in the fight against Pein but she does it anyway because she couldn't help being attracted to Naruto and needed to make an impression on him at the expense of the whole village and Naruto's life, followed by getting trolled by Kishi when Sakura hugs Naruto in front of her. Still no redemptive action. Not even in the war arc when Neji died.
If you can make it believable, anyone can be redeemed, just need to justify it properly. And of course, it won't be an isolated event, it would influence the plot and characters that are connected with them.
Like for example, think about a character such as Oro. He was written to be dreaded, reviled, to cause shivers down the spine, and nervousness, to create a feeling of unease and anticipation, right? Because he is cruel and an evil genius, he is always a step ahead of his opponent, he is clever as a fox. But even he was redeemed. And no, the idea of his redemption was not just at the end when he supported the war efforts. The feeling of antipathy towards him went once he confronts the dead kages in the war arc and supports Sasuke. All through Shippuden, the audience is made to see how none of the adults in their world even attempts to understand Sasuke's predicament and given the amount of focus Kishi spent on making the readers understand Sasuke's tragic past, it makes you feel frustrated to see how no one in the plot tries to even understand Sasuke's side.
This was Kakashi.
Tumblr media
Even though Kakashi is shown to acknowledge that Sasuke has truly suffered given his past, he still doesn't understand him. And Sasuke's attitude towards him doesn't improve till the end. At best, he becomes close to indifferent to Kakashi at the end. It's all understandable because it makes sense, because Kakashi has already been established as a complacent and unquestioning tool of the shinobi system. He is emotionally inept and doesn't understand his own team members. And he thinks Naruto and Sasuke are just rivals while Sakura's love for Sasuke has matured, she really loves Sasuke, a girl who is kind and gentle. Lol.
This was Itachi, but who's surprised? Itachi is the definition of tool of the system.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Itachi, Sasuke tries his best to express his frustration with the system that was evidently so deeply unfair, he tried to explain where his anger came from, which is all very justified. He appeals to Itachi's love for him, and Itachi admits he was wrong to treat Sasuke as a blank canvas, as a kid who didn't understand the world. We again get to see yet another adult, someone who is this close to Sasuke, not understand Sasuke's predicament. Despite Sasuke's desperate attempts. Even Sasuke gets it at the end that there's no point explaining anything further to Itachi, he is brainwashed to the hilt. But he was still Sasuke's brother, and he did take the blame for being the reason why Sasuke was the way he was. But the audience is left frustrated nevertheless. After all this build up to show how cruel Danzo was and how the elders and Sarutobi were complicit in the massacre, we still see them regarding it lightly, as if it is an everyday event. And it compounds our frustration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No cost is big enough for the apparent safety of Konoha, as per Danzo, but we all know Danzo did it for personal gain, his megalomania, the power hungry despot in him who traded power for hate and destroyed a whole clan like so many stray animals. Danzo was basically a hypocrite. A lot of characters were, in the name of Konoha.
This was Sakura.
Tumblr media
After which she promptly made a plan to go kill Sasuke and attempted it.
And then there were others.
Tumblr media
No one really cared. Except Naruto of course, shown in kage arc.
Oro is the only adult who supports Sasuke and says something that all the sane audiences have been wanting for someone to say. Someone reliable, someone who would make sense of it, someone who would reassure us that we weren't crazy, that whatever we are feeling is justified. Kishi is not blind to it either, but he needed to set up this world as deeply unfair, and he was going for eternity apparently, lol, which is why nothing really changed much even after Shippuden. None of these characters were redeemed, the ones that never understood Sasuke.
Tumblr media
We are clearly shown by Kishi why it was that Oro changed his decision, he was not interested in participating in the war at all, his objectives were in no way benefited from the war. He was interested in Sasuke and even when he is reincarnated by Sasuke, he is still after Sasuke's body. But Sasuke had his own reasons to have brought back Oro and he tells him, Oro is intrigued. He is concerned so he tells Sasuke to not get embroiled, but Sasuke lets him know he can handle it and that he isn't a child. Sasuke shows agency. He is determined, there's a mature look to him, a certain calm strength of will. He realized what Sasuke has been through, he who understands Sasuke's motivation very well. He knew Sasuke went through hell, to be able to kill Itachi, and then he was told the truth about him, he was manipulated even by him, as he himself admits, but he can see that Sasuke has changed, grown. And this convinces Oro to help him, who is now invested in Sasuke's future, even if he doesn't particularly benefit from it. In the scene when all the dead kages are brought back, we are waiting to see what will happen with baited breath, it's a big deal. The crescendo is building and building, big credit to Oro who kept goading and goading, putting all those thoughts in words that we were thinking all along.
Tumblr media
"It's really not that complex a jutsu....". He tells it like it is with such dry wit and sharp sarcasm, he trolls Tobirama and how. Hahahah. He calls him out left and right and it is then reiterated by Hashirama. Full entertainment guaranteed. He unequivocally takes Sasuke's side and he doesn't have a hidden agenda anymore. He threatens to destroy Konoha himself lol. He threatens all the kages, all the leaders of Konoha, people who made very bad decisions. He genuinely wants to see the way Sasuke's wind would blow. And when he feels Sasuke's life is being threatened by Tobirama, he positions himself for retaliation and is ready to protect Sasuke.
Tumblr media
Sasuke resonates with Oro. Even though Oro was portrayed as a ruthless, mad genius, cruel and manipulative villain, whose past (childhood) was suggested to be equally unfair, but who has been hunting our favourite characters, harming them, torturing them, of course he was reviled by readers. But then, he is made to do the one thing no other adult could do. And it suits him very well. He is one who wanted to get all the victims of this unfair world together and make his own village, he was a non conformist, he was the outlier, someone who understands the ways of this world very well and takes advantage of it for his own benefit without regret, he refused to pander to the shinobi world's ways, he decided to make his own. It suited him to go his own way, being disinterested in war and to root for something/someone he was interested in. Sasuke. He puts his hand where his mouth is. Unlike others, he is not a hypocrite. He has seen wars too closely and he knows what it does to people. All the collateral damage. Sasuke is able to relate with Oro. This is what redeemed Oro, to whatever extent he has been redeemed to. Of course it doesn't make all his other actions alright, but it does soften our impression of him and we lose the edge of antipathy towards him.
And this was done properly. It was made to look believable. You are right, it takes work. The ladies' redemption doesn't mean anything now, in Boruto. It could have meant something back then, but Kishi wasn't going for it in any case.

just wondering aloud here but what do you think about the many negative feelings towards itachi? i mean obviously he did very bad things but i think about my siblings (and family, and friends, and loved ones) and maybe i wouldn’t go so far as to annihilate my entire clan like he did, but… i would go very far for them, i think. once someone recognizes how his betrayal and actions thereafter are out of love and duty the theme/story becomes very, very different, just mostly sad.
which is not to mention that he was a child soldier and was straight up murdering ppl before he turned ten!! at ten i was still making mud pies with dirt outside !!!!
also it’s not that deep but idk i think about the two brothers and get sad sometimes.
okay this is a really complicated because as much as i like itachi as a character i understand very well why people hate him or are critical of him.
the thing about itachi people hate is how he’s portrayed in the narrative itself. kishimoto wants the audience to view itachi massacring his family as a good and honorable thing and not as something horrific. his crime is glorified as the peak of a great shinobi and will of fire, which in the text, are put as the good side. so ofc anyone that actually stops and thinks what they are reading will go HUH?
its true that itachi was a child soldier and was groomed at 13 to do what he did but itachi dies as a grown person and STILL he never thinks of the course action he took as the wrong one. it certainly brought guilt to him killing his clan if he wanted to be killed so bad by sasuke’s hands to “right” things but until the very end he saw his clan as if they had been in the wrong for standing against konoha. and yes we can just say that’s because how deep the brainwashing went but it still doesn’t absolve him because as any grown person you have to do retrospection in your life. (sorry for using my dumb phd in star wars here as an example but take anakin. he was groomed to become evil since he was a child yet still you can’t say he’s not a villain because at the end of the day it’s him who is killing children and the movie doesn’t tell you this is good thing because he’s doing it to “save” his wife. it’s a selfish horrific act and the narrative paints it as such)
it doesn’t help that itachi as a character is a big mess in certain areas that came with him being a straight up villain in part 1 then “broken hero” in part 2. it’s true itachi chooses danzo’s way to kill their entire clan to spare his little brother’s life but the elders did not tell him to make sasuke watch that and psychologically ruin sasuke for life, and then coming back to the village and doing it again. he did that in his own accord because he selfishly wants to dictate sasuke’s actions. he was very controlling of sasuke’s life but the funniest thing is that he couldn’t see it until after he dies but people still paint these actions as good (even though in his rarest moment where he gained self awareness, he says himself he was wrong).
i don’t doubt he loves sasuke more than anything but for 99% of his arc it was a very obsessive and controlling and ruthless kind of love in which he was the one to hurt sasuke the most with the actions he committed to protect him.
i personally love and hate itachi as a character, he’s fascinating because of how fucked up he really is. i enjoy characters like that overall. and i love fucked up siblings relationships and itachi and sasuke are one that drives me crazy because the love is really there despite everything! but still i’m not blind to kishimoto’s propaganda i can see the faults in his writing and why people (me included) hate the narrative he tried to push

Something I've kinde been wanting to do for a little while is to make a post about one of my favorite comfort characters: Namikaze Minato. So I'm gonna do that lol.
Now, Minato's story is a tragic one. And I'm not just referring to his life. It is a well-known fact that Kishimoto can't write a female character to save his life. However, it isn't just the women of Naruto who have also been poorly written. A fair number of male characters have also fallen victim (no, I am not a man, I'm an afab non-binary), and Minato is one such character.
Let's start with the discourse surrounding his teaching as a Jounin sensei. First of all, that was his first time teaching. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find *any* first-time teacher that doesn't make a boat load of mistakes. Mistakes are human nature, after all. Secondly, he was also kind of set up for failure. Heavily traumatized young child soldier, who is the last of his clan? A blacksheep whose training has been neglected? A civilian girl who ends up being reduced into a damsel in distress (Kishimoto...)? Sound familiar? Kakashi, Obito, Rin > Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura...
The dude was set up for failure, and he didn't have the luxury of peace time when he was training them. Minato was still constantly getting pulled away due to being one of the few Jounin that could effectively defend Konoha's frontlines, so that also severely affected his ability to train his students.
Quick little disclaimer that I couldn't really find much in regards to what that time period is like because who needs a consistent backstory/timeline, am I right? Ugh, anyway. Please take this with a grain of salt.
Secondly, and this is where I see Minato getting a *lot* of hate for. His Hokage reign.
Minato probably holds the record for the shortest reign in the history of Konoha (no, I will not include Danzo. He doesn't count) Minato was Hokage for how long? 10 months to a year and a half roughly. That is incredibly short. Dude probably had several projects he was working on, only for them to collapse entirely upon his death. He likely was actively working with Kushina, who had also been wanting to be Hokage (but got passed over for some reason) on several things to help improve the village and make it more habitable for everyone (especially children) but the night of Naruto's birth is when everything came crashing down and Konoha was under the brink of total genocide by one of their own.
We don't know exactly the circumstances in regards to Kushina's health, but I have strong suspicion that when Kurama was forcibly ripped out of Kushina *just after going through what is the hardest thing any woman could go through* aka childbirth. She was already in the process of dying, and she would have needed intensive medical treatment in order to not eventually pass away due to the extensive trauma her body went through. And Kurama *has* to be sealed within a Uzumaki or a specially prepared object.
The only Uzumaki that even had a chance of survival was poor Naruto, and I just know that Minato was likely beating himself up for it. Yes, Minato knew how Jinchuuriki were treated (he married one after all), but I believe his last words of hoping that his son would he seen as a hero instead of being ostracized was mainly because he'd hoped that it would be explained in such a way to properly paint Naruto as a savior. But the information got leaked and warped to paint Naruto as a demon instead. It is truly tragic that a character with such hopeful promise was poorly executed and was doomed from the beginning.
I hope that anyone who reads this can at least be a bit kinder to characters like Minato who were doomed from the beginning. If you still hate him, oh well.

𝕆𝕔𝕥𝕠𝕓𝕖𝕣 𝕨𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕔𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕘𝕖!
Day Two -Stitches-
Using the tip of his black boot, Shisui moved the man's chin. Head just fell to the side where it was pushed. Unconscious, but not dead yet, soon he shall be if Shisui doesn't do something about it.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk…Deidara what did you get yourself into?" he commented not that he was very empathic or concerned much about his companion's life. After all, this was not "Investigators from Miami", but the real life of street scum. Their gang Akatsuki was well-known and hated by everyone.
Tumblr media
Shisui crouches down looking at the cutthroat. Whoever did this was not very skilled. Cut was not deep enough to kill Deidara but deep enough to cut man's voice cords. No, wait this was not about the skill this was done on purpose, a slow painful death. His attacker wanted him to suffer. His attacker dumped him near the swamps where the grass was high, and no one could see him. And damn they placed him over the anthill. But obviously, they do not know who Deidara is. This man won't die out of sheer spite.
When Deidara woke up he was unable to make a sound. His blue eyes were wide and angry as he tried to communicate with Shisui. And Shisui would give anything to have Kakuzu and his stitching skills.
Deidaras pants were down too.
"Opsie Daisy say bye-bye to your virginity girlie" Shisui could not help but be a jerk as always. Thereby Deidara's side was cloth with which he was put to sleep. Chloroform.
It's not that hard to stitch humans. You need a needle and a thread. It's like mending clothing together what matters is to close the hole right? This was slowly turning into "Investigators from Miami", there was a motive, attempt of murder, rape, and the victim. And Shisui was that dude whose partner was attacked. How long Deidara was lying here some 8 to 12 hours? He is harder to kill than a cockroach. Would he like them live ten more days after the head is off?
Finally home. Kakuzu looked over Deidara, he could not hide that he was proud of how Shisui stitched him. Guess with what Shisui stitched his companion? He cleaned one of his silver chains, the one that had a small dagger-like pendant. The dagger he used as a needle and stitched Deidara's guts with silver, anything to stop bleeding. But neck he just bandaged fearing not to make it even worse.
Besides his real name, Kakuzu, his enemies also called him Stitches. He used to mark his victims after he would kill them. He would casually stitch their eyes or mouth or fingers to each other. He became more and more bold to the point where their last enemy died like a wolf from the Riding Hood tale. He used anesthetic, cut open the man, and planted stones in his guts. Stitched him up with a pretty crisscrossed black thread. Some internal organs he took out to make some space, not enough to kill. He wanted the victim to be alive when tossed into the lake. Alive, struggling to swim and reach the surface for the air but unable as the weight pulls him down, into the darkness, into the water's grave.
No one ever saw Danzo again.
"What shall you do with the organs?" Shisui questioned.
"Sell them of course. I need to make more money since, you! kids are determined to spend all. Curing Deidara is not free you know." And there he goes again it's all about money with him.
Now they knew who sought revenge for Danzo and they announced war by attacking Deidara. Kakuzu twisted his expression into a wicked smile he could not wait to fight them back…ahem pardon to stitch them back.
(This story is inspired by the many threads I had with @reddawnmultimuse)

also yeah F danzo the only time i ever liked that guy was this one time travel fic i read where sakura went in the past and i think taught him and his team?? it’s been ages tho so i couldn’t say for certain i just distinctly remember sakura being a mentor to him
kiri was so cool easily my fave village by far but totally agree that they all had their pros ‘n cons
i have a huge fascination with kiri tho like!! openly bloodthirsty and riddled with coups and betrayals.
fave character…. changes depending on what fic i most recently read tbh i pick ‘n choose based on mood but suigetsu & kiba & sakura will always have a place in my heart
side character would prob be ameyuri i am fascinated by her
also really liked omoi ♥️ not many characters in that series i don’t like bc i binged blackkat’s naruto stuff way back when as an itty bitty preteen for a few months straight and so just abt every side character had a period where i was obsessed with them
what was your fav arc??? did you like any of the akatsuki (deidara ‘n sasori were so funny together & i adore konan)??
Oh I know that fic with Sakura as Danzo's mentor! I think it was part of a series? I only half read it because ugh if I see a character I dislike in a nice enough setting I might stop disliking him
Ugh her Sasori fight is so!!!!!! kind of hate that all of that build up and character growth got disregarded for the "Madara and a Moon Goddess" storyline
i have a huge fascination with kiri tho like!! openly bloodthirsty and riddled with coups and betrayals.
yes like! so much drama angst, the whole analysis as to how this all could have happened the aftermath, the way it affected everything around it.
Also yess Kiba!!! god there is this one Akatsuki!Kiba series I fucking adore, and also the Team 8 from writer168 or something like that like hhghghgh love Shino and Kiba so much in it, Shikamaru is also one of my regular favourites he's just so neat lol
binged blackkat’s naruto stuff way back when as an itty bitty preteen for a few months straight
same same
regarding Akatsuki, lmao so I never actually finished Naruto and I read ton of fics just centered around Team 7 and then I was starting to branche out and suddenly these people were there and I didn't know them? that was actually so funny and my first real experience in like learning to puzzle canon together via fanon (I love doing it tbh it's very fun)
and you're right Deidara and Sasori are really funny together but by the gods I would not want to work with them, like maybe sit at the sidelines once when they have an art argument but I would NOT want to hear that on repeat.
I love Obito he's such a silly dude and so mentally unwell, he plays so many roles it's a wonder he's able to keep them straight lol.
Konan is very badass and Kisame is so cool as well! I really like how he seems so very calm and collected when he's just as batshit insane as the others, but he has also like one of the most reasonable excuses as to why he betrayed his village in my mind? Like Kakuzu might as well but not only did he take it very far he's also a grouchy money hoarding dragon now (though I adore his abilities especially because of that one SI story I read years ago)

how is naruto diaspora / indigenous coded? curious bc i’ve never watched and i’ve never heard that before
spoilers for naruto/// the short answer is that naruto's mom is from uzushiogakure which collapsed due to war sometime before naruto was born. those who survived fled their homeland. they were displaced and separated across the globe seeking asylum.
major spoiler warnings of future characters and plot point revealed later on in shippuden!!
there were way more naruto blogs back in 2016-18 ish, particularly ones that were looking at naruto through an anti-imperialism lens! i wish i could remember the blogs and posts for them!! I don't really participate in main fandom stuff tbh so it's understandable if you never encountered this type of analysis. also noting that kishimoto had a decent story that looked at the effects of war and child soldiers, but he totally switched it up near the end and naruto became TRASH.
The people of Uzushio are only vaguely touched upon, many of them are dead due to the village's collapse (war). Naruto's mom and many other survivors were displaced because of this. There are actually many characters in Naruto who are ethnically punished for their genetic abilities, the Uchiha is one of them that has a long history of oppression since the very inception of Konohagakure (where Naruto takes place) and with characters like Haku and Kimimaru. The naruto universe is comprised countries named after elements (land of fire, land of water, etc) that have daimyos/feudal lords, within those countries are villages, towns, and ninja villages. Ninja villages are military states which operate in secret war between countries and the villages are secluded, hence Konohagakure (village hidden in the leaves). Haku grew up in a post-war remote village where genetic ninja abilities (kekkei genkai) had been used and became hated for their use in war with the masses punishing them by death for example.
To go back to Naruto and his mom, Uzushio also had clans that possess their own culture and ninja abilities. Uzushigakure is known for their fuinjutsu (seal writing), but the Uzumaki clan has other traits like immanse chakra resevoir, chakra chains, etc. Karin and Nagato happen to also come from the Uzumaki clan. (<- I am assuming "clan" is descriptive of having a common ancestor and not necessarily descriptive of a tight knit expansive family unit.)
Naruto grows up not knowing anything about his parents, he is socially ostracized from a young age. He is not allowed to know about his father for plot reasons, but he is also barred from learning about his mom as well as his uzushio heritage which is very typical to diaspora/Indigenous narrative... Interestingly enough, the leaf village's behaviour and so much of the story is influenced by Uzushio's collapse. Many Uzumaki's are actually very important players in the narrative! Nagato who is the main antagonist in a later arc, is a displaced Uzumaki who ended up in Amegakure which was where the second shinobi war was fought. His parents were killed by invading konoha shinobi and he experienced severe poverty and trauma moving him to form the Akatsuki with his 2 friends who were also war orphans with their goals of eradicating war. There were actually suppressed with support from Danzo Shimura who is one of Konoha's leaders who propels the oppression of Uchiha in the leaf village (who are also Indigenous coded).
Also if we want to bring IRL theory into this, Indigenous is a global term. Many western nations prefer to believe Indigenous only refers to the groups of people who have not had their relationship to land disrupted which is a pretty horrible definition that is based on the stereotypical imagination of Indigenous cultures across the globe, it is also a horrific definition when you consider the forcible removal of many Indigenous people from their lands (Reserves, the trans atlantic slave trade, other forcible displacements via imperialism). Indigineity can be descriptive of tribes, nations, ethnic groups, clans, and even villages. I know you haven't watched Naruto, but this was actually a pretty common sentiment from cool BIPOC Naruto watchers a couple years ago!!
On a lighter note there was also a really fun head canon that because Sasuke's favourite food is tomatoes, there was a strong implication that he was Indigenous because tomatoe/tomatl can be traced back to Aztec cultivation!

Kakashi Week 2022 Day 1: Nukenin & Senses
Thanks to @kakashiweek for all their support. Hope you enjoy this story that basically is based on a headcanon of mine, in which the Hatake clan is extremely related to wolves and like them, it’s members have highly developed senses. And you know how animals can feel that bad things are going to happen? Well, Hatake clan also has that sixth sense, which becomes a nightmare if you’re not trained to control it, because you can feel too much..
I hope you enjoyed it. By the way, english isn’t my first lenguage, so forgive me if they’re mistakes.

Blood Legacy
Fifteen years ago...
A shinobi with silver hair runs in a hurry over the rooftops and in the shade of trees, nowadays it isn't safe to walk the streets if he wants to return home in one piece. It's been hard times since father came back from that mission. It all began with the nasty looks, then with the civilian's rumors, some time later the disrespect from other shinobis, the stores that wouldn't accept them, finally the loneliness and the abuses from everyone.
Kakashi used to be able to escape from his abusers, but some times there were too many of them. On those occasions, his father would heal his wounds, while blaming himself and mumbling apologies, for then locked himself and cry, praying that his son wouldn't listen to him.
Another year passed and Kakashi became a legal adult at the age of five, after getting graduated from the Academy, and he was taken as the aprentice of Shibi Aburame. One of the few shinobis who still treated him like a human. He was taught in the art of war. He was sent to infiltration missions, even tho he was only a genin. But he was born a shinobi, and he had a debt to pay to the village. He was the son of Sakumo Hatake and his inheritance made him a pretty good weapon to use during war times.
So the silver boy became an adult at the age of five. Not because of his special abilities, not because he had been taken to assassination misions before he knew how to walk, but because what happened that curse bloody day.
He woke up with the feeling that something bad was going to happen. The ninken knew it too. Throughout the day, the growing anxiety made him believe that he would lose his mind. Every little detail told him something bad was coming, the worst of all was that no one else noticed the nauseating smell of fear and failure in the air. No one else noticed the unusual humidity, the strange earth movements, the anguised song of birds, the bitter taste of miso soup...
He smelled the blood ten kilometers before arriving home. Desesperation invaded the small creature, who forgot the first thing he learned in his first day at the Academy: "A shinobi never shows any feeling", he runs faster but when he enters the house is too late.
That was the first time Kakashi hated with all his beign the inheritance of his clan. He smelled his father's suicide before it happened, he felt it, he heard it, he tasted and later... He saw it. Some years later he was asigned to a genin team. Even tho he alredy was a chunin who had been on war missions. It seemed that the old Lord Hokage thought the experience would help him healed his wounds and realize that the mission and the rules weren't as important as his people.
Said the one bastard who let Danzo and the villagers killed the great White Fang of Konoha, because of a failed mission. The one who allowed the other villages and clans to masacrate his whole clan, the one who allowed a boy to be treated like scum just because of his fathers mistakes and let another to murder his family to protect the damn village.
So Kakashi became part of team 7, while he was sent to missions out from Konoha to pay his father's mistakes, to suffer the punishment, to suffer from his Hatake legacy, which became stronger as he did. He would come back home smelling the blood of all the victims in his own skin, no matter how many times he washed himself, until his own blood appeared...
He hated it.
He hated it how Obito, Rin and Minato sensei reached his inner wolf and domesticated it, he hated how the smell of Rin's perfume made him feel like he was in home, how the sensation of them being near to him made him felt like he had founded a new pack, how the touch of their hands would bring him back to earth when the sensations of everything became to much to bear. How Obito's voice would enchant him and made him feel like everything was okay and how much it hurted to know that Obito only had eyes for Rin. But even those little details, in those moments his Hatake legacy turned almost acceptable. But happiness didn't last that much, neither did his new founded peace with his bloodlines, because it was that damn curse of his extinct clan the one who told him that Obito would die, even before he knew it, it was the one that made him knew he would kill Rin with his chidori. His bloodline curse was the one who aknowledge him about the Kyubi's attack, that Minato and Kushina would die, that one of his kohais would end with his entire own clan...
He wasn't able to know what was going to happen, he couldn't read the future. But he always knew what was going to happen.
How much longer was he going to take it?
With the secrets of his clan destroyed by those who feared the power of the Great Wolf, without a single scroll to read, a relative to ask, Kakashi was destined to suffer the curse of his hypersensitivity. It was a perfect weapon for war and at some point in his life he would have been happy about it but... Did it really make sense now? Was it worth all the pain and sickness that took over his body after each fight? Was it worth how he lost more and more his sanity smelling the blood, feeling the terror of the fallen when it cracked their heads or burst their chests?
The only thing his curse couldn't predict was that he would end taking the Hound mask and in a trance-like state, crawl to the ROOT facility, where the next morning there would be a butcher shop, where the main course was the head of Lord Danzo, hunging with a look of terror from the ceiling beams. Beside him on the ground, a scroll addressed to the Hokage, with all the interesting things Danzo told him some minutes before his dead.
Everyone would knew what their precious Hokage and elders did. They would knew who the real scum was
After that he would walk away protected by the shadows, with a broken legacy he had sworn to protect, now turned into trash. He walked away until the rooftops turned to ants and the smells and sounds of Konoha disappeared, he walked away until the forests surrounding the village disappeared and he walked away until he crossed the borders of the Valley of the End.
When he stopped to catch his breath, Fire Country was already a long way off. It was then that he understood everything he had done, it was when he looked at his hands full of blood, his ANBU uniform splattered with viscera and noticed the pieces of cartilage entangled in his hair sticky with blood when he realized what he had done. When he understood he wouldn’t came back to Konoha.
After all the he did to clear his father’s name, after all the sacrifice he made to be considered a hero, to be loved again, after promising his dad he would protect his dearest people he just got so thirsty for revenge and screwed everything. They would put a price to his head, the golden child who was expected to became stronger than the White Fang and the Great Sannin... Turned into a traitor.
Itachi became a nukenin for the sake of Konoha, he became one because he wanted Konoha to suffer like he and his beloved ones did.
It had been a long time since Konoha had been his home, surprisingly having failed as a shinobi didn't hurt anymore. Now that he thought about it, he couldn't remember wanting to become one of his own free will... But the faces of his cute kohai and his eternal rival hadn't stopped following him. He had failed them, he had ruined the last bonds he had.
He alredy could feel Gai's tears and his heart breaking when he heard the news... This time his Hatake gift wasn't necessary, because he felt the same way Gai did, even when he never sayed it out loud, Gai was his only reason to live and his most precious beign. Gai was the love of his life, Gai did everything for him, and he just took it and then ran away, breaking his heart...
Kakashi hadn't cried in a long time, but Gai was the only thing that still made him human. Kakashi never deserved him, he realized too late how much he loved him, that he wasn't able to thank Gai for always being by his side. He was nothing but scum that took the lives of others and then ran away leaving everything destroyed around him. He fell to his knees and slammed his fists against a rock, barely feeling his knuckles break. The faces of Gai, Tenzo, Obito, Rin, Minato and his father appeared again and again, completely disappointed in him and hurt in a way he couldn't describe. But even now, he wasn't even sure those tears were his. Because only one of his eyes shed tears.
Obito’s eyes was the only thing that made him human. And he spoiled it.
The village coulg go to hell, they never cared about him, about his dad's pain and sacrifice. They didn't give a shit of anything. He wanted to burn everything, let his inner wolf free and tear every damn neck of Konoha apart. But he wouldn't, it was the last thing he could do to honor the sacrifice of his father and his team. The last thing he could do for Gain and Tenzo.
It wasn't long before they came looking for him, he smelled them months before they knew who he was. He knew Itachi was among them, he knew there was no point in refusing. He was a lone wolf who had lost his pack deep in the woods, a creature with the breath of death, blood and gore soaking his fur. A wolf that hid stealthily, ready to attack, too scared and hurt by the world.
That's why he joined Akatsuki, he had no other reason to exist, he didn't need them, he didn't share their goals. But the Hatake Clan's gift was what their leader needed to capture the tailed beasts, and Kakashi knew no other life than serving as a weapon. So he cut his hitai ate and put on his cloak and ring. He fulfilled the missions without real motivation.
He gained power during his years in Akatsuki, so his blood curse got stronger, turning every single battle into a nightmare. The smell of iron, dead, fear. The mist of desperation and pain. The sound of kunais, shurikens and katanas colliding with each other, the agony screams and the bodies falling into the ground, blood rivers impregnating his nose for days...
How much will he has to live like this? How more days will he spend nights washing himself trying to remove the horrible stink that impregnates his skin? How much will his punishment last? How badly will his heart break before he collapses from the sensations and finally dies forgotten like a mangy dog? How much he’ll have to deal with Akatsuki? When will the rage od the Great Wolf and his ancestors will end?
When will the curse end?

My Life In...
Naruto
After some extensive research, we've concluded that you are best matched with...BAKI! Congrats!
Tumblr media
In this universe, you and Baki work together and you've helped the Sand Siblings grow up to be who they are today. Nowadays, you and Baki have a travel blog together and lots of love. Here's your love story...
Matched with: Baki Skills/career: Baki’s assistant. You help teach the Sand Siblings. You are very proficient with all kinds of jutsus, but you mostly focus on air jutsu. Song: Forever by KISS Best Friends: Rasa, Gaara, Kankuro, TemariLove at first sight: Totally.
How you met: Rasa had asked you to become Baki’s assistant. You were to help him with teaching the Sand Siblings how to fight and become stronger shinobi. But you became a mother figure to them in a way. They clung to you like you were the best thing in the world, and Baki found you so sweet and so caring. From the get go, he couldn’t stop himself from being so attracted to you. You really showed him softness he hadn’t seen in so long. You two worked hard together, and it wasn’t long before you realized how good of a team you made.
How you fell in love:  It didn’t take long at all. Baki was a little shy about it, despite his gruff exterior. He would often find himself longing for you. In the cold nights in his bedroom, he would imagine you here warming up his bed. Eventually, he decided to just try and get closer to you. He would find ways to accidentally brush up against you. Then it was soft whispers whenever you needed him to repeat himself. You were starting to fall for him hard. You could see his true nature under that tough exterior. And one night, before you left for home, he kissed you softly on the cheek. Your heart skipped a beat and you knew he was the one for you.
Your first date: Baki had it all nice and planned. He was taking you out on this romantic weekend alone with you. The two of you had planned to take this little trip outside of the Sand Village. Rasa had approved and you were really excited to leave the village. It was in this beautiful inn near the water. You don’t even really remember what village it was, but it was so breathtaking. The whole weekend, Baki took you to all kinds of places. Little gift shops, sightseeing, eating your favorite foods. It was honestly one of the best weekends of your entire life and you always look back on it fondly.
Your first time being intimate: He took it slow with you. It was during that little getaway weekend, but he was still so romantic about it. He ran you a bath, filling the water with sweet rose petals. Baki took his time washing you and massaging you. Then he brought you to the bed, where the two of you shared a bottle of wine. You were so full of love and warmth. Baki took his time with you, but it became so frantic so quick as well. You enjoyed every single moment of it. He loved to kiss you all over.
“Such a beautiful girl,” Baki mutters against your skin. He’s pressed against you as close as he can. His cock brushes up against your sweet spot again, making you moan softly.
You cling to him, your body shaking as you sit right there on the edge. Baki has been edging you for so long, you can’t even remember what time it is. You can barely keep up with everything he’s been doing to you. Your body is lined with a small amount of sweat, and the smell of you is driving him crazy.
He ruts his hips quickly, and you begin whining his name. You’ve never had a lover before. Baki was your first, and he enjoys it so much. You’re all his now. This whole weekend was going better than he had anticipated. Another soft whine, and he’s capturing your lips with his. A few more thrusts, and you feel the coil in your stomach snap. White hot pleasure possesses your body and you can barely catch your breath.
“Good girl, cumming so hard for daddy.”
Those words push you even further, and your juices run down your ass and thighs as you soak Baki in your essence. He fucks you through every little wave of pleasure, and your nails dig into the sinewy muscle of his arms. This is truly heaven.
Where are you now: You and Baki still help Gaara with his Kazekage affairs and you still try to visit Kankuro and Temari as much as possible. You and Baki have decided to start traveling the world and you actually do a travel blog. Baki wants to marry you, but he hasn’t been able to pluck up the courage to ask you. What you both don’t know just yet is that you are pregnant with Baki’s baby!
General headcanons:
When it gets cold in the desert nights, Baki loves to bundle the two of you up in blankets and cuddle up. It’s so cozy with you in the linens and watching a show together.
You love to make him lunch and homemade lemonade and you bring this to him often whenever he’s in the office with Gaara. And of course, you make Gaara lunch as well.
Baki likes to take long baths after long days. His favorite thing is to have you in the bath with you and you’re both soothing your sore muscles.
He loves traveling the world with you. He always tries to find a sweet little souvenir to buy so that you’ll have something to use as a decoration when the two of you get home.
He will still spar with you and he will probably want you both to continue your training. Baki enjoys that you’re both shinobi and that you both can fight very well.
Baki will take you somewhere to stargaze whenever he gets the chance. To see your eyes shine in the moonlight, it’s something he’ll never forget. He likes to see you like this often.
Sexy headcanons:
Baki enjoys that he’s quite a bit taller than you. He likes that he can pin you to the wall and have his way with you. Sometimes he’s frustrated and he needs you now.
Baki also enjoys being sweet with you. He’ll be good for aftercare, cuddling you and pillow talk. He enjoys bathing you and massaging you a lot. He just loves doting on you, but even more so after sex.
He’ll have you squirting like a fountain. Baki knows how to make you feel good, he’s mapped out all the spots you enjoy being stimulated in the most.
He’s very vocal and loud during sex. He loves to mutter all these sexy little things in your ear. Anything to rile you up even more. He just wants you to know how good you feel.
From time to time, Baki enjoys you taking charge. Tie him up, strap a vibrator to his cock, edge him until he’s just begging to cum, slap him around a little. Baki can take it and he enjoys it.
If you were to wear any kind of special lingerie or cute little kimonos that leave not much to the imagination, he will lose his mind. Baki adores seeing you all dolled up for him.

naruto for the ask game!
thanks for the ask! hmm...
favourite "male" character: Orochimaru (just putting him here to leave space for Tsunade) One of the first favourite characters I ever had. And the first of many gnc Mad Scientists I've been exposed to. He was actually a positive influence on me regarding queerness when I was young. Even if he is bad representation. Aside from that, I just like that he is a straight up psychopath. As much as Boruto likes to pretend otherwise, there is no way to palliate what he did. He is frightening and cruel but still entertaining. Also one of the most intelligent characters in-universe. I wish we got to see more of his vast knowledge of jutsu. Missed potential.
favourite female character: Tsunade When I say I like the sannin, I'm mostly talking about her and Orochimaru. She has been fucked over by the shinobi system so hard, lost so much, hit rock bottom but in the end she did manage to at least improve a little bit for the future generation. More than many other hokage did. I also like that she straight up left the village and turned her back on being a ninja. It's not weak, after fighting in 2 ww it's her right. Konoha doesn't deserve her.
least favourite character: Hiruzen and Itachi Can't decide on one, so they're both here. Itachi is mostly just shitty writing because Kishimoto couldn't make up his mind if he's supposed to be a misunderstood genius and hero, or an abused child, or a cold ruthless killer. His arrogant attitude just pisses me off. I especially hate his fight against Kabuto. It solidifies that unless you were born into a powerful clan, you can't amount to anything and any struggle is useless. Kabuto basically got brainwashed into accepting that and keeping his head down. Hiruzen has no backbone and is responsible for most bad things that happen in the story. He didn't do anything to stop them. 9-tails? Naruto? Danzo? Shinobi WW 3? And then the narrative turns around and wants me to believe he's just a jlly old man. Nope.
prettiest character: uuh don't know, Orochimaru's hair? There are a bunch of good-looking characters but I wouldn't call them "pretty"
funniest character: Sai. great dick jokes
favourite season: Kakashi Hiden (in the anime, haven't read the light novel). It just shows all the problems with Konoha and the shinobi system so well. Now if only someone had done smth about it...
favourite episode: When Kakashi and Kinoe enter Orochimaru's old hideout. The tension there is really good. And you get a hint at the horrible things that have happened there, but you are left to fill in the blanks of how it got to that point. My favourite kind of horror.
favourite romantic ship: A lot of the stuff I ship doesn't involve romantic feelings but I like Tsunade and Oro as fwb. Like, in the least cishet way possible
favourite family ship: Not sure what this means but the Otogakure hideout in Boruto is horribly dysfunctional while still being endeering in a fucked up way. I want to see more of Mitsuki & Log and the other clones.
favourite friend ship: Orochimaru & Tsunade again? I want to see them work together in the medical field, either before they defected or during Boruto times. They could achieve so much together or have already. I'm sure they'd also really get on each others nerves while working.
worst ship: Any child/adult stuff. I'm not passionate enough about Naruto ships to hate a specific one.

Oh BTW what are some things, if any from history/mythology that you wish FGO included?
I would like more diversity in general, but also they make a lot of religious figures and gods heroic spirits for other religions, but the closest they’ve done for Buddhism was Sanzang and I want equality there. Too late for Normal Armor for All means it’s time for Skimpy Armor for All equality is equality. We haven’t had much Norse either despite a whole Lostbelt, but we have had so many gods and suped up spirits tbh I am unsure if I want that, like, the most compelling recent addition was Antonio Salieri. Maybe it’s time to focus on the way personal belief in a spirit affects them instead of 8 divine spirit combo characters. I’d like to see a lot more about characters with Innocent Monster too, and ones who are fictional have had very little story outside of Kojiro’s aside in UBW about how much that fucks you up, and I’d love to hear more. I’d like to see a lot of relationships develop too. I’d like to see Nightingale and Dantes more, see Emiya, Ishtar, and Cú on a team, see Alter Emiya stuck with Ishtar somewhere, see more of Outlaw Squad, see Karna and Arjuna given an arc that’s not the same one as always, see Medea taken seriously like in UBW instead of a joke, see David given ANY screen time to deal with Romani like wtf why didn’t he get major billing in arc one??? See David and Sheba interact, see more of Antonio and Amadeus, Fran and Moriarty. Love to hear more about Hessian Lobo like he was easily one of the coolest characters??? Literally never getting over how this random beheaded hessian soldier’s ghost was tied in death by an outside force to the legend of a wolf who hated humans for killing his mate, and they were trapped together as a phantom spirit and had no reason to be anything but bitter and angry, but when you’re beating the wolf to a pulp the headless corpse of a man scrambles off it and tries without a face or a voice to beg you to leave it alone and not finish it off. How an adopted stray left it’s owner to find him and curl up with him while he bled out. Like holy shit. Uhhhh, I like the kind of emotional ones too: Voyager, Van Gogh. The concept alone there is sweet. I’d like to see them do a non-human well again like. I love Danzo and I love robots but they literally can’t write inhuman characters without making them robots wtf is going on. Stop making Greek gods robots. They’re gods. You used to be able to write Fran and Nursery and shit what the hell happened to the character creation team. Or like. Actually give us a literal robot if you want to do robot humanity narrative so bad but I’m begging you to stop making all the Valkyries and Artemis just AIs like literally begging. Gods are inhuman but you write them different and it’s so fun and not actually hard like just do the assigned work jfc. Please.
If you mean more like what specific characters would I like to see, that’s harder. Personally I’d love a Lucifer if well done because I love a good Sympathy for the Devil character (P5 just gave and gave and gave to me). I’d like more animal spirits like give me Balto, or Laila. If they do more gods like they’ve been I would very much like Bast because she’s always been a favorite. Uhhh I’m a sucker for the personal connections so I would love it if they quit doing alters of existing people and gave us their family members or friends instead I mean the DRAMA. Mmmm tasty. There’s almost no Americans and that’s fine but like it’s Geronimo, Billy the Kid, Tesla, and every American president through Obama in a body with Edison and the 20th Century Fox lion so if they wanted to make it just slightly more normal they could add like Nathan Hale or Deborah Samson or something. Uhhh, from a gameplay perspective, we’ve got interesting and talented supports, but Iri is the only white mage and I’d like to see them play with more range on defense. So I would personally like Lister or some other doctor with highly specialized defensive skills and to play with the defense only mechanics more in the back line. Like team evades are great but I’d love to see someone with a skill to revive a party member but like with a massive cooldown or stun penalty to balance that. Idk I’d just like to see more complexity. Maybe it’s luck based called like ‘Defibrillator’ and it doesn’t always work, like guts but can be used after they’re downed and at any point. I do quite enjoy the specialized skills like how Katsu does little for support unless you’ve got a lineup of Nobunaga and he suddenly becomes the bullet chain in their galtling. An ability to swap formation, or switch the cooldown from one character with another (‘blood transfusion’) could be cool for a doctor. White Mage with 30,000hp, +5 to attack, who can revive downed party member and allocate NP or cooldown among them, or swap formation. Skill where damage he takes is taken by the frontline member with the most HP instead. Or NP that analyzes the enemy skill set and warns before stuns or rapid ult charge. Or can cast small passive buffs like debuff cleanses the way story characters do, but even when in the back line. Lol Romani Archaman build. Uhhh I’m off topic, characters let me think. I personally loved Amelia Earhart as a kid so I guess part of me keeps hoping she’d be added too. I kinda enjoy when unnamed, or less important or well known people get caught up by a twist of fate like the hessian though. I like weak normal people doing their best in an impossible situation.

Greetings. I hope you're well.
I started reading naruto earlier this year and it is one of the best mangas I've read, I haven't finished it yet I just started the war arc, but I started watching it, to see the fights and powers animated. My question is, WHY do so much people hate sasuke? The website I use allows you to comment on the episode and i see alot of people hate him and I wondered why?
Sasuke risked his career to feed naruto, sacrificed himself for naruto despite having goals of his own and more than once was willing to give his life up, when itachi came to the village his first thought was naruto's safety not getting revenge which was his goal. In the beginning of shippuden he did not kill the hundred soldiers that orochimaru ordered him to do, sasuke just replies he become merciless when he needs to.
I can understand why some will hate him since, even though hes my favourite, there were times I wanted to hit him over the head such as for stabbing Karen, trying to kidnap killer bee and ditching team taka even though they did not hesitate to save him during battles and putting themselves at risk. I understand he was In a dark state as he learnt the truth about itachi, so he went psycho but when I look at what people say about him, their reason to hate him is that he's emo, b#tchy, crybaby ( when the real crybaby is that pink pig) and lots of other things.
I see that a lot of people choose to ignore the good in him and focus on his bad and act like he is the worst character in the show, while miss pink, miss purple and danzo are right there. When sasuke wants revenge people hate him for it, understandably as revenge is wrong and does not bring happiness and the path he took for it was wrong, but when shikamaru, ino and choji wanted revenge, people fully supported them and one even said "shikamaru only took two weeks to get revenge, sasuke took three years he should take some tips from shikamaru", and I'm like " I thought you lot said that revenge was bad?", (shikamaru and the others took their revenge in the right way though).
Also it seems the hate come entirely from the west? In the manga sasuke usually comes in the top three in character polls. But I don't see why it would be hard to understand sasukes character whether you're from the west or not, since I'm from the west and understand his character (not a 100% but I'm able to see a little more than just surface level).
This ended up being long and in really sorry for that, I just had to rant, I just want to know why hes hated so much when he is one of the most complex, best and beautifully written character I've come across in a long time. The fact that love is one of the core pieces of his character, how he only thinks of others pain and what they've been through instead of thinking what he himself is going through ( him thinking of itachis pain rather than his own). The fact that he had multiple chances to kill naruto but did not as he could not bring himself to kill the only one he loves ( that scene in the rain T~T). My favourite scene is when they fight against garaa and, even though sasuke was in immense pain cause of the curse mark, he still used his body to cushion naruto as he fell, like it was not fatal if naruto hit the tree but he did it anyway. My heart is just argh.
Instead I see that pink and purple trash being treated like their the best or have the best development, I think "did we read the same manga or watch the same show?" I mean yeah, sasuke does not have to be everyone's favourite just because he's mine but come on. Wheres the understanding you lot are meant to have that the story teaches you about?
Again I am so sorry for it being so long, may god bless you for your patience and have a blessed day. Thank you! \(^ w ^)/
Hello.
From what I have noticed in the fandom, Sasuke is disliked or hated for reasons such as :
1) He abandoned and thus really hurt Naruto.
Yes he did. Naruto was beyond heartbroken when Sasuke left after vote 1. But he had his reasons, which Naruto couldn't understand earlier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sasuke's reasoning being that Naruto was always alone, so he couldn't understand what it meant to have bonds and the grief and hurt at losing them.
Naruto couldn't understand it then. But after he loses Jiraiya and experiences the (temporary) death of several people he cared about during Pein arc, he now understands Sasuke and his motivations better.
Tumblr media
Naruto, as a character, evolves and keeps evolving, learning more and more, getting stronger each day, all just to be able to reach Sasuke, understand his heart.
2) Some of the fans dislike him for the same reasons you mentioned, he tried to kill Karin, abduct Killer Bee and ditch Taka. And I get that Sasuke doesn't come off very well in those instances but he is not emotionally attached to Taka, even if he is a good leader. He doesn't pretend to be anything but a leader, and even though Karin and Suigetsu try and bring him into the fold of friendship or romance, he makes it clear that the team exists only for Sasuke's goals. Sasuke is about efficiency, when he goes out to battle. By the time Danzou is out for blood with his Sharingan eyes, Sasuke knows the truth about Uchiha massacre and Itachi, and I can't even imagine the pain. Does he go overboard a little bit? Yes. But it won't be fair to judge him because of that, especially when we know the very much understandable reasons for Sasuke's wrath. And as for him joining Akatsuki, that's a stretch. He never joined Akatsuki for the same reasons Akatsuki was formed. He has nothing to do with Akatsuki's goals. He did it as a means to an end, his own ends, to gain power for the sake of his goals, and once it is done (even if he didn't really succeed at abducting Bee), he promptly left. And even though Tobito tries to reprimand him, Sasuke remains irreverent towards him. Sasuke's fighting practices are essentially transactional.
Tumblr media
Does he deserve the hate he gets for it? Absolutely not. This kind of emotional dishonesty is pretty standard in Naruto fandom, especially when Kishi puts so much effort to show why Sasuke committed these actions. And he isn't all that indifferent to Taka either. He protected Karin from Killer Bee despite the odds as Juugo remarked, so it's not like he is entirely unfeeling. He was ready to save Juugo during the war arc, and he generally finds Suigetsu likeable. Before he came to know the truth about the massacre and Itachi, he showed ethical practices (as much as one can in their world) by not killing the ninjas Oro brought him for training, he even warned Taka to do the same.
He is a deeply traumatized person, and people who have experienced deep trauma don't always make the most humanist of all decisions, especially when they are overwhelmed with warring emotions. He is only human, and I get why he did what he did. As for trying to kill Karin, killing Danzou means more to him than protecting Karin. The former lies heavy on the scale of his priorities than the latter. Which makes sense to me, in the given context.
3) Some fans think he is a misogynist for treating Sakura badly.
I call bullshit on this opinion. He is not. If anything, in part one, he tries to be nice to Sakura even though she keeps being a pest to him. He protects her multiple times in part one, comforts her when she is feeling depressed before the Chuunin exams, and tries to console her when he is leaving Konoha. He is emotionally intelligent and kind enough to tell something is off about Sakura before the Chuunin exams when no one else could.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sakura keeps getting into his space, pouncing on him and forcing physical contact multiple times when he specifically tells her not to. Hell, she lustfully wanted to see his underparts, if that's not creepy behaviour, I don't know what is. It's the kind of behaviour one would expect from Jiraiya, and that's saying something. If only the roles were reversed, if Sasuke was a girl and Sakura a boy, no one would find this treatment problematic. In kage arc, he tried to kill her as a response to her trying to kill him first. Does he not have a right to defend himself? Sakura stans usually do this, as if Sakura was the one in the right. She manipulated her friends and teachers to do something she wouldn't have had a chance to succeed at in a million years. Honestly, I would have gotten a lot of satisfaction if he had succeeded. But it was still nice to see her failing and how, and cherry on top, Naruto tells him he understood Sasuke's reasons for doing so. Lol. Game set and match.
Karin is another oversexed fangirl who keeps throwing her body at him, and it doesn't take a genius to tell how damn uncomfortable he is.
4) Some uber nationalistic fans claim that Sasuke betrayed Konoha, and get upset that Naruto chose Sasuke's 'friendship' over Konoha. They feel like Sasuke didn't deserve such treatment from Naruto, because Sasuke is a terrorist.
What can I say? This is a gross misinterpretation of both Sasuke and Naruto's characters and the story. Sasuke is deemed a terrorist, for what? Because he killed Danzou, a mass murderer? Danzou who was also responsible for the attack on Konoha in part one? Hell, he majorly contributed to the war arc, they would never have won without Sasuke. How is he a terrorist?
And of course, because they do not understand the true nature of Sasuke and Naruto's relationship, they feel justified in believing that Naruto shouldn't have prioritised Sasuke over his country. 🙄
Not like Naruto on several occasions, wasn't motivated to protect Sasuke over everything else. He would die for Sasuke than live for Konoha, because no one accepted Naruto 's existence more than Sasuke.
Sasuke's well being is Naruto's oxygen.
Also why would Sasuke be expected to preserve the same people that killed his clan so brutally, and used their organs for their own wretched evil interests, people who discriminated against and forced Uchiha clan to do something drastic, who were not even given a chance to table their concerns?
No matter what one says, the truth remains that Uchiha clan didn't summon the kyuubi. But they were punished for it nonetheless. In such a brutal, inhuman manner. Anyone who feels justified in hating Sasuke for his actions can go hug a tree, I don't especially care for their thought processes. Kishi put all sorts of effort in telling this story where Naruto and Sasuke's love trumps all other kinds of love, love for their country, love for the people of their country, love for their friends etc.
Kishi didn't leave any stone unturned to define this love that is so great, nothing can stand in front of it. This kind of love that makes for the most epic love sagas, and Naruto and Shippuden are epic love sagas. While this story depicts tussles between different philosophies, ethical practices, belief systems, different sides of a war, different sides to peace, different sides to love, Sasuke and Naruto's love comes up on top of everything else. A love that is manifested once in several lifetimes, the kind of love that becomes the key factor to saving and ultimately changing the world. The kind of love that is larger than all constructions built by humans. Love is essentially irrational, it never follows reason, that's the love we are witnessing here. So what am I missing here?
5) Then of course there are those who think he is an emo bitch, whining about his clan and family all the time, getting manipulated by people left and right.
Most of them are Naruto stans, and I love Naruto but his stans are fucking dumb. A lot of these are incelish dudebros whose sole focus is on battle jargon and techniques, who fought whom, who killed whom, who is stronger, they are happy to take the lowest common denominator of the story and run with it, thinking they have caught on to the central narrative of the story. That's what they read/watch Naruto for and that's all they care about. Like I said, dumb as shit.
Truth is Sasuke went with Oro being completely aware of the situation. And once he has learnt everything Oro could teach him, he kills Oro. Sasuke never liked the way Oro carried out his business, and he was motivated to kill him right from the start, once he had achieved his goals. And that's what he did. Obito does manipulate him, but had it not been for Obito, Sasuke would never have found out the truth. And Obito calculates the risks of telling Sasuke. He knows Sasuke's trauma, he knows what motivates him, he knew what would affect Sasuke, and if that resulted in Sasuke killing Danzou, I am all for it. No one in Konoha seemed anguished about what happened to the Uchihas. No one else seemed even minutely interested in bringing the fate Danzou deserved to be served to him except for Sasuke. None of the hokages and Kakashis and Shikakus and Jiraiyas and Inoichis of Konoha seemed interested in a massacre that happened overnight in their own village. No one seemed to bat an eye and dish justice. If Sasuke wanted to, where did he go wrong? No one in the history of the world has ever gotten freedom and justice by appealing to the moral sense of those who were oppressing them. Why should I expect Sasuke to? Especially when his reasons are this significant?
His ways might be a little extreme in a couple of instances in the latter half of Shippuden but they weren't unjustified in the least. And those who downplay his trauma and belief systems seem to me like privileged and spoilt idiots who have never known strife and common sense. Those are the kind of fans that are not allowed on this blog.
Yes, you are right. The core element of Sasuke's character is love. Love for his family and clan. This love turns to hate when they are killed off so brutally. Even Naruto realizes that one misstep and Naruto would have found himself in Sasuke's shoes. Love and hate are two sides of the same coin. The ONLY reason Sasuke wanted to 'cut off' Naruto from his life so he could finally be alone, he wouldn't be distracted by Naruto and his love for him, so he would be able to mete justice to the killers and detractors of his dead clan. He loves Naruto. And yes, his reason to kill Naruto isn't the most positive, but it's understandable. Naruto is the only one that can stand to budge Sasuke from his goals and Sasuke doesn't want that, he wants to achieve his goals with all his heart. But in the end, Sasuke gives in to their love. And this is the ending, the conclusion of the story. Their reunion. Like you said, Sasuke loves this boy so damn much, he can't even stand to have Naruto hurt even a little bit, he would become the cushion to break Naruto's fall. This moment.
Shikamaru's revenge is justified for having his teacher killed. Omoi and Karui's revenge is justified for having their teacher killed. Then why not Sasuke's, when he had his entire family and clan killed overnight and the body parts of their dead ones were used as commodities? Kishi had to do it this way, where Kakashi criticises Sasuke for his goals, and additionally Sasuke is generally portrayed as someone who is in the darkness, so as to corner Sasuke in the narrative, to isolate him, to put him in a position where he would be pushed to do something extreme. A position that facilitates the protagonist, the inventor of empathy in their universe, to finally break the chain of revenge by bringing Sasuke back. Naruto applies his skills to the likes of Nagato, Obito and Zabuza, seasoned victims of war and strife turned villians, but Naruto's greatest test was still Sasuke. Sasuke who wouldn't be mollified by anyone else, that is Naruto's job and his and his job alone, no one else's. So Naruto finally turns the tide of fate by making Sasuke accept his love. Kid Sasuke was full of love and affection. But then the tragedy happened and he became embittered, agonized by the deaths of close ones. This love turned hate directed him to become able to carry out his goals, but these goals would have eventually pushed Sasuke into such darkness, he wouldn't have been able to come back, if it weren't for Naruto. So this hate was trumped by his love for Naruto. And hence this love persevered and persevered and finally turned Sasuke away from a self destructive path. This is the crux of the story.
Honestly, I don't take Sasuke haters seriously, their interpretation of him, the story and even Naruto's character is so warped and biased, it's hard to do it. So I attached a disclaimer for them to keep away, and I am good with that, never having to entertain their silly ass opinions and takes. Sasuke is a complex, beautiful, tortured yet kind, graceful, just and ethical for the most part, emotionally intelligent, passionate and loving character and anyone who doesn't see the merit of that isn't worth engaging with.

I hate to say this but do you think that Naruto and Sakura were kinda similar in them being selfish chasing after Sasuke? I mean Sakura was just whining and being sad and begging for him to come home so they could play happy family and Naruto less obnoxious but also wanted to drag Sasuke back against his will. They also cared about each other so it seemed less annoying than Sakura's plea. Neither of them including Kakashi really respected his choices and even if they disagreed with his actions, they didn't take him seriously as to why he did the things he did.
I mean the whole, I'll break your arms and legs and drag you back, really grosses me out because at the end of the day that mentality is exactly what every abusive figure in Sasuke's life, especially Itachi and Orochimaru were like. Not respecting his choices or his autonomy, thinking they knew better and he was incapable of making a decision for himself (even if they disagreed) and forced that decision upon him through physical violence.
I'm not trying to say their relationship is completely abusive, and Sasuke hurt Naruto as well, but the lack of respect for his autonomy is something I really hate because the manga reinforces it. Naruto kinda changes towards the end and respects Sasukes decision even though he disagrees with it, but still. I find it icky how almost every character whom he has a relationship with embodies this characteristic
hmmm Naruto's desire to bring Sasuke back for me was always actually much more selfless to me than it was selfish. Naruto wanted Sasuke back because he knew that Sasuke was in danger. Naruto, to me, always felt like he was acting on what he thought would save Sasuke from horrible fates.
we can't forget that Sasuke's decision to go with Orochimaru was a suicide mission. the goal back then was to sell his body to Orochimaru for power to fulfill his goal of killing itachi, and after that was completed he was to give up his body and life for Orochimaru. Naruto was acting in his extremes trying to prevent Sasuke from killing himself for the sake of revenge. that's not selfishness. Naruto longed for the desire to keep team seven in tact, but he brought up that dynamic in crucial moments moreso to try to tell Sasuke "please don't throw your life away when there can still be good in your world." I dislike when people water this down to "oh, Naruto was just as bad as Sakura for trying to stop him from making his own decisions." Sasuke's decisions were very self-destructive, especially to someone who someone who only had the outside point of view that Naruto had.
and then when Naruto does learn the full story, when he finally gets the crucial information about the uchiha genocide, he forgoes his urges to rip Sasuke from his dangerous goals and instead reaches out to Sasuke with understanding. he validates Sasuke's actions and emotions. and when Sasuke was completely battered after fighting at the kage summit and then killing danzo, Naruto did not force him to come back with him. Naruto had entered that area in almost perfect physical form, had seen Sasuke was clearly beaten up and weakened already, and instead of going through with bringing Sasuke back by force (which he more than likely would have been able to with his sage mode since sasuke was already weakened) he chose to simply tell him "i understand now". he was still going to defend his home full of loved ones, but he vowed in that moment to try to find a solution for Sasuke that wouldn't result in death or murder, because he could see how little sasuke still regarded his own life. he was saying "I value your life and sanity. I want to fix what's wrong in a way that is best for everyone, and in a way that won't leave you lonely and in danger."
in vote2 we learn that sasuke's goal was that of dictatorship- specifically, be wanted to unite the world by giving them all a common enemy: himself. Naruto did not want Sasuke to be hated unanimously; he knew that pain too well from his own childhood. he did not want Sasuke to set himself up in a way where his death would be the only way to achieve peace. at the core of it, Naruto felt for Sasuke, and didn't want to see him continue to hurt himself and bring upon his own death.
Naruto was always trying to what would keep Sasuke safe, alive, and loved. I don't think that's selfish at all.

I saw you rb a SaiSaku post and was curious if you had any fanfic recs for this rarepair?!
Do I have?!!!!! I am currently binging this ship so you couldn't have asked this at better time.
.
This pair is not a crack ship! Crack would mean they have not shared more than two words with each other. But SaiSaku interactions always bordered on romance and best friends who don't act like it. Not only Sakura was the first person to acknowledge Sai had human side to him and bonded with him over his painting, Sai was also the only person outside Sasuke (in part 1) to be able tell her fake smiles and he always understood her feelings better than other characters. Had Sakura ever only cared for good looks (something she don't) then with Sai she'd get that and so much more.
I have always considered SaiSaku as the next best thing after NaruSaku. They had too much potential as a couple. I am not bitter that InoSai became a thing but looking at them I only feel that "Ino didn't get Sasuke so she get his look-alike." Besides, Sai gave people nicknames that are opposites to what actually feels about them – Naruto as Dickless, Sakura as Hag/Ugly and Ino as Beautiful – which makes it worse. Both Ino and Sai deserve better than this. If Kishi has shown them together more often or had interactions between them similar to SaiSaku then I can understand why Ino is his light. I guess it is also SP's fault for showing them in different light. For all SP hates Sakura, they enjoy messing up with her fans by feeding them false hope.
Whenever I want to read something hilarious but deep, SaiSaku is my to-go couple. Usually angsty, or full bout of insults and punches. There's no in between with them.

Hey, really liked your analysis of Hinata. I feel almost the same way about her. Even though generally I dislike female characters who are naturally meek, subservient and pointless with no character arc in any type of media, what made me absolutely hate her character was how she treated Neji. If Kishi wanted to show her arc being developed organically, instead of proposing to Naruto that removes her stuttering and gives her new found confidence (because girls only get confident when proposing to guys ), Kishi could have shown her talking to Neji after he literally told his bitter story on the chuunin exam grounds in front of everyone. She is shown like she is sympathetic but didn't do anything about it. She didn't even talk to him after he was hospitalized. She knew exactly why he was the way he was, and yet she fights him as if it was his fault. She, an heir of the clan, could have asked her father to support Neji, she had some clout. But nope. In fact, it was Neji who apologizes to her in a way, he is the one who trains her and help create a new jutsu for her. What did she ever do for him exactly? And Neji didn't have to help her. She was in the best position to help and understand Neji but what did she do? A lot of fans like her character because she is reserved but kind and sympathetic. She is reserved but a coward. She was not kind towards Neji. He died for her when he didn't deserve to, he had dreams and goals that were much bigger than Hinata's entire existence. She couldn't even see her own cousin's pain and she claims to understand Naruto?? Really??
Even Kishi said she was a pitiful character who only watches from a distance. He deliberately made her that way, no goal, no backbone and no lines. And I think she sucks the most after Danzo.
WoooW!!!! Thanks for the ask, Anon.
[[Hinata and Sakura fans!!!! Please stay away and don't interact. I fucking tagged them properly]].
Even though generally I dislike female characters who are naturally meek, subservient and pointless with no character arc in any type of media, what made me absolutely hate her character was how she treated Neji.
We definitely share the same thoughts on this one, Anon.
I am really tired on most of the media for their poor treatment of female characters.
The last time I was amused by a female character was from 'Game of Thrones', I loved Cersei Lannister, who is an absolute biashhh and Sansa Stark, started out as an annoying rose tinted princess but ended up winning everyone's heart. Both are non-combative, soft spoken and somewhat powerless women in a world dominated by men. But they just didn't let the inconveniences stop them and instead they learned how to fuck that world back and take control. Both are similar and yet very different.
After seeing, such well-developed characters..... For me girls in Naruto series, is blehhhhh..... Nothing to get inspired from them. And I knew it by episode 3 itself. I have no idea how can girls, in real life, treat Sakura as some feminist icon, which makes my skin crawl for number of reasons. If you point her mistakes out in any discussions, they will pull the misogynist card to your face. When in reality, I am also a girl and my world views are entirely different from Sakura or Hinata. There is no way a 12 year old girl would want to look at the Duck of another boy.
And the problem is, They form the majority, I mean people who can connect with Sakura or Hinata. So, as long as girls like them exists, we really should suffer from these crap portrayal I guess.
That's why I advise people that If you want to see a good woman character, Narutoverse is not the place.
Having said that, I find Temari, Konan, Tsunade were better (I mean inside the Narutoverse). Though their motivations or reason to achieve a goal revolve around their men, I find their attitude relieving. Unlike Sakura or Hinata, they don't wet themselves on the sight of the men they love.
What irritates me was, Kishimoto could've easily put a character like Temari or TenTen or Tsunade into Team 7. It would've made my viewing experience a lot better. If he doesn't want the strong girls to take over the attention from his boys, then he should've introduced a meek character like Rin Nohara. She is silent and cute but atleast she was willing to die for the Village and never wetted herself over Kakashi, though she loved him. And she treated Obito like her best friend. But he deliberately made Sakura hateful and he never stopped.
Sakura and Hinata were the lowest of the low, compared to any other side characters. And, in the end, they got the main Character's Ducks without actively doing anything. For me this tells me three things
He was using these girls as a shield to close the hetero normative mouths while in reality hiding those boys true feelings under that shield.
He really hated these kind of girls and constantly showing his hatred on them at every given chance and never redeemed them back.
He knew the target audience’ mindset and he simply caters them by giving them what they need and at the same time writing the important arcs according to his wish.
I think, it’s the combination of all three.
Just to give you an example.
There is this delusional SS shipper Who justifies Sasuke was acting Tsundere throughout the war arc. I mean, come on!!!!
I came across this post because, the Original Poster was an idiot who comes into the anti SS tag and reblogged my content and saying I was wrong... So, I don’t mind sharing that person’s content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I don’t know where this delusion comes from... It's truly pathetic.
There are millions of idiots who believe in this kind of shit and Kishi is deliberately feeding them with bits and crumbs while making his boys go out and save the world.
These delusional mindset tells us they don’t give a single shit about the story as a whole. They watch it purely for the pretty faces and getting high over them. In this case, Sasuke.
It’s as clear as day that Sasuke didn’t care about anyone other than Naruto when fighting the war. You don’t have to be a shipper but even a non-shipper can point this out. I mean Sasuke wouldn’t have saved Jugo either, if he didn’t come to Sasuke and advice him. Do you think Sasuke would’ve tried to look for Jugo and saved him at all cost???? It’s just that he came to Sasuke and he helps him back. But Sasuke would’ve saved Naruto from the bomb blast even if he was standing a mile away.
So, if these delusions reflects the mindset of the majority of the women audience, then the creator will never try to give anything better but instead give us some low-life characters like Sakura and Hinata.
So, Anon, your expectation for Hinata’s character could’ve been developed much better is just a wishful thinking. Because, Hinata is a character for these kind of people and not for us. And the author deliberately did it.
Really??
For me, this also irked me a lot.
Hinata could’ve tried to talk to Neji about his problems even when he was a child. But she was simply playing innocent when in reality, she is just a coward. Even after the Chunin Exams, there was no apologies from her side, like you said. Because she is from the Main Branch. That hierarchy never changed. If she had the gall, she could’ve easily broken that hierarchy by saying, ‘I want Neji Nii-San to take over our Clan, He is the best candidate for this and I can gladly help him with all my efforts’.  A single line and just 2 or 3 panels, it all takes.
For me killing Neji is where Kishi asking us silently,
Do you really want these pair to happen despite having a blood stain of another character???
Most people said, ‘Yes!!!’, because they don’t give two shits about Neji. As long as Hinata gets Naruto, the main character’s Duck, that’s all there is to it. It doesn’t matter who dies, who lives.
That's why Kishi is shitting on them by making her as a non-existent woman in the Boruto Manga.
Even in real life, there are many hopeless foolish little girls who would do anything for the man she loves. I've seen them and I always stay 2 miles away from them. I mean, they even ditch their own friends and spends her entire time with him and when he dumps her later, she will come back to her friends for consolation. I think Sansa Stark is the best example for this. She started out much similar to Sakura and Hinata, believing in Princes and shit, she even naively betrayed her father for the man she had crush on. But the author made her to learn her lesson in a much painful way and later she came out as a Queen who no longer needed any man at the end. I think, this is called Development.
At the end of the day, Romance and Sex is all that matters. The author knew it. So, he is feeding these girls with some low quality cookies and they are very glad to take and eat it.
