a concept ive been working on for the switch up au is how to handle certain character interactions and what i can do with them...
but most of all its about what i can play around with... hehe
which is why ive come up with an outside force taking the crown of command from the monkey king and putting it on the wizard

i enjoy huskerdust aus where husk is still an overlord as much as the next guy, but i tend to be a little annoyed by a lot of these aus' implications that husk would be a "better owner" (yikes) than valentino, or just the erasure of the power imbalance / consent issues that would be rampant in these scenarios (though again i still like them and find them fun!!), and i won't totally rehash my opinions about husk's character here but i will say something i WOULD be more interested in, alternatively, is an au where overlord husk swindles val and wins angel's soul, and it doesn't change anything. husk is still a gambler with no regard for the souls on his chain beyond how they can be useful fodder in the next game. angel is still owned by a capricious master who couldn't care less about him and doesn't see him as an autonomous person with needs & desires that matter. husk makes all the same mistakes until he's sitting across from alastor with a chain around his neck, having sold out angel and every other soul in his pocket to the radio demon to feed his own addiction, finally getting a taste of his own medicine.
a situation, then, where angel and husk's souls are both owned by alastor, and in a sick way they're finally on even footing—both on a psychopath's leash, both powerless, both unmitigated losers. angel gets to finally be meaningfully angry at husk, and husk finally has to reckon with the consequences of his actions, how he's destroyed both of their lives with his own reckless greed. husk having to come to terms with a status quo that angel has been intimately familiar with for decades. alastor's sheer glee at the tension between them, finding husk abominably distasteful and feeling only vague, distant pity for angel—though not enough pity to ever think of letting angel go.
the delicious cycles of violence happening here... alastor on his own leash, turning around and tormenting husk to displace his helpless fury; husk, who'd once owned angel, grappling with newfound guilt over his treatment of angel + a conflicting, nauseating wish to go back to how things used to be, when he didn't care about how any of his souls felt; and angel, who has been an object for so long he's almost forgotten what it means to be free. this is a nightmare situation. and niffty is hanging around too

I am not too close to matters of religion, but I just had a doubt.... Aziraphale is (or was, considering he has a new job now) the guardian of the East gate of the garden. And after some quick google searches... I just noticed that in some versions the east gate is... the only gate.
But in the series we see Aziraphale.... Closing a hole in the wall, that wasn't a door. It was a hole in which he rebuilt the wall when he closed it.
And as I was looking at this, I noticed another detail. On one page it said that Jesus enters through that part. The second coming. Jesus, arriving on Earth. Through the eastern gate
Could this be the reason Metatron wants Aziraphale back in heaven? You can't take Jesus out the east gate if the angel guarding it isn't on your side!
Especially when the "gate" is a hole in a wall that I assume, is hard to find. Because... it's a big wall
Aziraphale is possibly the only person other than God who knows where the wall was rebuilt. And if that wall is somehow indestructible, the only way to cross it would be... by disarming the one area that has been opened. The one that was rebuilt by Aziraphale

1956 television set this, 1936 Ford that, Tom Paris would rock out to 80's music and no force on earth will convince me otherwise. Never Let Me Down Again, Talk Talk, Burning Down The House. You can hear it all the way to the turbolift so the entire deck pools their replicator rations to install soundproofing.

Which do you prefer, Super Sentai or Kamen Rider?
that can...really depend on what the current series are. :') but I think overall I'm more into Rider! Sentai tends to be more consistent quality-wise, but Rider has much more variety in terms of narrative structure and what it tries to do, if that makes sense. not necessarily in terms of theme, but in, like, story beats and pacing and character arcs and things like that. it doesn't always hit (and when it's bad, it's...pretty bad) (stares straight off into middle distance) but usually it's at least making an earnest attempt at doing something interesting. and when it does hit, it hits.
they are both very close to my heart though! :> plus Sentai's been doing some serious shakeups to the formula with Donbros and Kingohger, which I'm very very into. lately it seems like they've been messing around with some of the foundational stuff of both franchises in an interesting way, and I'm excited to see where they go with them!

Just keep going, Audrey. Doesn’t matter how crazy this gets. Just gotta go with the flow.
(or: Audrey adapts to the ink world a little too easily, doesn’t she?)

But I would ALSO like your Do You Ship It thoughts on Hawkeye/Margaret/Trapper!!
I Ship It
1. What made you ship it?
LOOK AT THEM
Tumblr media
my inspiration for enjoying this ship is "three hot messy people with a lot of charged energy between them. now what if they made out"
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
is this triad a good idea? eeeeeeh???? but they are all very good at sex and also enjoy it a lot, so it would be a night to remember for sure (that is so memorable that it then becomes many more nights to remember... you know??)
i would love for her to call their bluff! hawkeye harasses her by coming on to her in a way that's Clearly A Joke, You Can Tell I'm Joking Right, and trapper's tack is to wind her up by pretending he doesn't notice she's a woman (which is funny to me for other reasons -- hawkeye always showing off his triple-decker wit and trapper uses the 7-year-old insult playbook). but if she turns the tables on them, then what?? put up or shut up!
and there's also the fact that in a serious way, they do take care of each other when the chips are down. THEY HID A BODY FOR HER. like if margaret ever actually needed defending from anybody other than present company, frank isn't up to it -- but you'd get trapper like "i could beat him up. like i could do that right now" and hawkeye "i have a sixteen step plan of psychological warfare" and trapper "yeah ok let's do that." but no question that threat is toast.
and. that love and affection will always be prickly. she has five inches of patience for them and no more. they'll hide the body but they will complain the whole time. but sometimes that's what they all need!!
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
i don't know, so this will now be my counter-argument segment! the reason why this wouldn't necessarily be a sustainable idea is that even though margaret could absolutely step on them in bed, as people it would often still end up being two against one, and i'm not sure how they would get past that! (but damn i would like to watch them try.) (and honestly, if she didn't feel like stepping on them in bed, i think she would enjoy letting them gang up on her in that circumstance. let my girl switch!)

Despite everything, I do have some sympathy for Elizabeth preferring whatever interpretation of Darcy's actions makes him look worst and uncritically accepting a dubious stranger saying he's a monster.
Let's be real, it can be very satisfying when someone you dislike for personality reasons turns out to be terrible in a worse and (apparently) more objective way than you thought. It doesn't excuse turning your brain off, but it's very normal to be like "aha! I hadn't imagined anything this terrible, but I knew the vibes were bad for petty and disproportionate reasons."

I'm just going to say it: I don't think Caleb and Nott in the early campaign were that unhealthy. They're clearly devoted to each other quite intensely, but it's not like there's any lack of reciprocity in their relationship, apart from the fact that helping others (in this case, primarily Caleb) is one of Nott's unhealthy coping mechanisms. But it's not like Caleb is unaware that she has her own issues and needs! He asks what she needs and helps her as much as she does him. He gently lets her know that if she ever wants to talk about her past, she can with him. It's just that Nott hates dealing with her own issues (why do that when there are other people with issues she could be helping instead?) so she doesn't spill all the beans until she quite literally has to, choosing to dance around her problems until they're too big to ignore anymore.
Genuinely, I have to assume people think their relationship is so unhealthy because there was a lot of friction with the rest of the party early on that made Caleb and Nott seem more clumped together than they actually were.

Erin and Orla might’ve both had crushes on James it’s just that Orla never repressed it because they never saw a problem with it and so was able to just let it pass and get over it while Erin repressed it, it blossomed against her will because she kept denying it until it was impossible to any more and well, we know what happened next.

me, helping out my mom at a bazaar, like i've done for years, attempting stuff while she walks around to take a break and maybe get some xmas gifts: *vibing enough that some people want to buy some things*
my mom, about half an hour later: *comes back to be the more charming of the two of us, because she has more experience being a salesperson and is not autistic*
the nice lady at the table next to us, talking to my mom: your boy did a good job while you were gone!
my brain, upon hearing that sentence come out of another person's mouth while i'm feeling somewhat dysphoric in my body today:

Victoria Richmond's introduction to magical society.
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Victoria Richmond is a young lady for whom appearances are paramount. The granddaughter of a serial-killer raised in a house widely known to be haunted, and surrounded by muggles who believe that magic is inherently dark, she developed a sweet, charming exterior to stay in society's good graces.
The need to hide her magical abilities led her to become skilled at going unnoticed and prepared to deceive, and she boasts exceptional reflexes thanks to the antics of the poltergeist haunting her home. Without such skills, she most certainly would not have survived her first year at Hogwarts, as she struggles with wand-work.
Though it is unusual for a muggleborn to let themself be sorted into Slytherin, she had no opportunity to learn of its reputation and thus no reason to request that she be placed in any other house; she joined it eagerly, being fond of both snakes and the color green. Though her cunning and single-minded determination make her a natural fit for the house, she faced significant prejudice from the many blood-purists who were drawn towards Salazar Slytherin's reputation.
A series of unfortunate events caused her to arrive at Hogwarts in pants and with a boyish haircut. Worn from the excitement of their journey and finding the months since his wife's death a blur, Professor Fig ignored the voice in the back of his mind saying he remembered her being a girl the last time they met, and dressed her in a masculine uniform matching the clothes she had arrived in. Being tired and overwhelmed, Victoria passively accepted that the wizarding world was a strange place and kept her complaints quiet when the prefects brought her to a dorm room shared with boys — after seeing portkeys, flying horses, and moving portraits, it was hardly difficult to imagine that magic could be used to prevent untoward behavior.
After realizing that she had been mistaken for a boy, she intended to bring it up with her Head of House, Professor Ronen, but was intercepted on her way by a group of girls who were offended that a "mudblood" was sullying their house. While throwing up slugs on the way to the hospital wing, Victoria weighed her options and decided that spending three years under the guise of a boy and disappearing back into the muggle world posed fewer risks than being placed with new roommates. It was some time before the school discovered that "Victor" was in fact "Victoria".
Academics:
Victoria found her Blackthorn wand to be uncooperative — such wands bond through hardship, which she had not yet seen herself as enduring — and she developed a dislike for Charms, Transfiguration, and other lessons that required substantial use of it. She took quickly to Potions and Herbology, finding the combat applications of the latter fascinating and Potions enjoyably reminiscent of baking.
Despite her disdain for the subject he teaches, Victoria's favorite teacher is Professor Ronen. She enjoys his approach to teaching.
Having often heard it said that all magic is dark magic, Victoria approaches the Dark Arts with an "it how it is used" mentality, learning the Cruciatus and Imperious Curses; she would have learned the Killing Curse, but felt it inappropriate to ask Sebastian to teach her. After experiencing the Dark Arts first-hand, she prefers to avoid them, though she does not swear them off completely.
Friendships:
Victoria chooses her friends based on respect, leading her to not have very many. She will happily spend time with people who have not proven themselves in her eyes, but she will not be as open with them or actively seek them out. She respects those traits exemplified by her father: peacefulness, loyalty, and dependability. To a lesser extent, she admires conviction and a passion for learning. Selflessness is not inherently attractive to her, but she remembers those who help her without promise of reward.
Victoria is closest with Sebastian Sallow, Ominis Gaunt, and Amit Thakkar. She was drawn to Sebastian from the start, and she respects his drive to help his sister. They quickly become fast friends, though her enthusiasm begins to wane following his continued recklessness after the Scriptorium. By the end of his questline, she views him as a younger brother who needs constant supervision. Her friendship with Ominis was much slower to form. They had several friendly interactions prior to their encounter outside the Undercroft, but it was not until the Scriptorium that either had much interest in the other. She disdains his belief that he is akin to the worst of his family, but his preference for death over hurting another person reminds her of her father which gained him a significant amount of respect. As Sebastian falls deeper into his obsession, Victoria gradually begins to side with Ominis on their friend's use of the Dark Arts. She admired Amit's generosity and enthusiasm for learning from the moment they met, but did not consider him a close friend until after he acted as her Gobbledegook translator. His decision to keep his word and help her after being faced with unanticipated dangers earned his place among her greatest friends.
Victoria views Natsai Onai, Narida Roberts, and Arthur Plummly as dear friends.
Poppy Sweeting is a good friend, but their disagreement on whether a puffskein or a Chinese Chomping Cabbage is the better pet is a rift between them that will never go away.
The poltergeist haunting her home, known as Dear Uncle Charles Killian, has been dear to her for as long as she can recall Her brother Xavier, who is expected to inherit the estate upon their grandmother's passing, never grew accustomed to the poltergeist and intends to rid the family of the pesky phantom by whatever means necessary. Wanting to ensure that her Dear Uncle has a place where he is welcome, Victoria becomes determined to inherit the estate — a desire her grandmother leverages by demanding that she marry a respectable and nonviolent husband who will not bring further shame or scandal to the family's name. Though romance and child-rearing have never been of particular interest to her, her determination to acquire her grandmother's estate means she is determined to find a husband, and her male friends are subject to higher standards of behavior as she is contemplating whether she could suffer their habits for the rest of her life. These higher standards do not apply to Sebastian because she cannot see herself marrying a man so reckless. After a passing remark to Sebastian about the recommendation of one of her sisters to seek a blind husband (on account of her burned skin and strange hair) inspires some predictable teasing, she refutes it by joking that she intends to kill her husband once her grandmother's estate is in her hands. Ominis was not impressed to witness this exchange, though he appreciates that she considers him too likeable to murder. Of the Hogwarts students, the ones she deems most tolerable candidates for marriage are Ominis Gaunt, Amit Thakkar, and Arthur Plummly. She does not have genuine romantic feelings for any of them, she simply finds them safe and pleasant to be around.
Appearance:
Victoria's hair was originally dark brown, but after an incident with a package of London Purple insecticide in 1878 it became a vivid shade of purple. It was cut short in April 1889 after it was ruined in the same fire that scarred the right side of her face and caught the attention of the Ministry of Magic. Her eyes are a deep, almost black, shade of brown and have a deceptive gentleness that charms strangers into trusting her.
She dresses neatly and with an eye for current fashion. Prior to meeting Sacharissa Tugwood, she was never seen without a hat; seeing a girl so preoccupied by beauty comfortably wear such oddly-colored hair on display inspired Victoria to stop fearing her hair being noticed — though she still enjoys wearing a variety of hats.
