I think that if Zukka were to actually work, they’d have to get together a year or so after the end of the war. While I love the idea of them finding eachother pretty soon after, or perhaps even before the end of the war, both of them would have way too much baggage to make a healthy relationship work. I think they’d both need a little while to heal before they could navigate the complications that each other brings.

Both of them don’t exactly excel in expressing their needs or emotions, and with the added weight of years of unresolved trauma in the mix… things would not end up well.

The idea was a cross between 'general' x boy adventurer x guy who says golly unironically. I also wanted him to contrast Dirky Boy so while the colors and expression are more welcoming the aspects of the outfit (gold armor, straps, full coverage, high collar) show a man guarded off and constrained; and unlike Dirk, Jake's armor is useless in /has never seen a fight

I also love giving Jake a sort of 'false open' top, where it SEEMS open but doesn't actually let you in any closer to the old chap (like a screen door? I guess. maybe a glass door.)

Jake's scars come from points in his hand and stretch to his face/back in a lightning-esque fashion.

(Flowers-Pine is also a fine order for the hyphenated take, and arguably more funny since Pine-Flowers is right there, but I think Pine-Flowers has better flow, ya know?)
