Always slightly jarring seeing you post about anything 40k cause I always have the impression it's something you'd either be ambivalent of or passively dislike

my relationship with 40k is complicated! complicated enough to warrant a readmore

it's an aesthetically gorgeous setting of absolute misery and awe-inspiring violence to a ridiculous extreme. it's the aesthetics of the NWOBHM extrapolated and amped up as far as they can possibly be amped up, complete with little doodles of 60s era elric slathered in the margins

it creates so much beautiful artwork and so many interesting hypergranular interactions between individuals who have to exist in that kind of world, who have to continue on with their fundamental personhood pushing against an abjectly hopeless reality and no future worth living into

it's weaponised cathedrals in space that shovel corpses into their furnaces, five zeros added to every important number, a norse dialect of Future Latin existing entirely so that a linguistic technicality about the name "bjorn" can come into play like a macbeth prophecy, king arthur von gilgamesh is kept on life support so that everyone can pretend the empire isn't collapsing by worshipping his catatonic corpse like a nuclear power plant that produces divine will

it's a grotesque excess in all things! it's joke upon joke upon joke!

you can even root around a bit further and say "the little glimmer of hope that the imperium provides humanity is propaganda papered over the collapsing hopeless void of how bad things really are, and all of the cruelty is at once needless and pointless" if you want to get especially gothic about it

which I personally do! as someone who enjoys the fiction space allowed by nihilistic and terminal circumstances, it provides a lot of ink for that well

I quite like a good deal of 40k! I also can't stand it, and it's mostly not even because of how the fanbase acts about women, gay people, and the intersections of those categories that contains me (you've seen my blog theme. I'm a deep sea creature to that kind of stuff at this point)

even setting aside the starship troopers aspect of things, even setting aside the faults of the writing itself, 40k being the strut-skeleton of a wargame where you're encouraged to be (profoundly) financially invested in your faction by way of your army leads to some of the absolute most obnoxious powerscaling debates I've ever seen for any franchise ever

I'm trying to think of the best way to put this without coming off as overly mean-spirited, but if you look at the replies on any art of a character who is not a space marine killing a space marine, regardless of dramatic context, you'd be forgiven for assuming the artist personally threatened to cuck everyone in the thread

something that mechanically occurs in the wargame, which textually occurs in the written canon, will be litigated out until everyone gets to settle on the most boring possible answer and nobody dies who isn't expected to

and of course the franchise itself has a perverse incentive to play gently with those exact feelings! in the business of selling boutique plastic and faction rulebooks, there's a lot of money that goes up in flames if you make the primary buyers of your most sustainably reflavourable moulds widely popular miniatures feel like a lost game could be reflected in canon rather than just being some bad gameplay on their part

I can't really offer any particular synthesis of all this into a broader point. in the end, I can't stand the canon or fandom, and I'm also primarily endeared by the canon and fandom

or to put all that another way, I don't care about how the sausage is made, I'm not the one buying it, but I do enjoy the infrastructure that invites gratuitous textual accounts of sausage factory manglings and photos of their aftermath

What do I think about ShiMao? Bro...

They're all I've been thinking about for the past week 😭😭😭 I even changed my phone wallpaper to a shimao official art, which says a lot because until now my wallpaper was this one Chaggie fanart for a year and a half lmao

Ngl I did NOT expect their ship to be this good and have such good canon foundation(NOT confirmation mkay). I've been seeing clips of this show for a while, and people say it's good, but all I knew about it were the j*nmao stuff, which isn't terrible, but wasn't really my thing. So i didn't have plans to watch it, but then I saw gif sets of this scene, and I caved 💀

So my thought process was like, "The het romance probably isn't gonna be for me, but I'd probably like the female character and her friendships might be cute enough for some delusional shipping"

But y'all. Shipping Shimao doesn't even feel delusional...

J*nmao can be cute and I actually grew to like it in season 1, but when Shisui came into the picture in season 2, I couldn't see myself rooting for anything else.

Like I said in one of the screenshots I shared, I really love that Maomao and Shisui are essentially freak4freak, except both of them think each other is weirder which is so funny. They both have their own quirks and unladylike habits. Like when Maomao scolded Shisui for spitting and eating insects meanwhile Maomao has lifted up women's skirts and uses herself as a lab rat. Something something pots and kettles.

Then there's their dynamic.

Shisui is the first person Maomao got to interact with on equal footing in so many ways. They're the same age, so they don't have the same relationship Maomao has with Xiaolan, who is like a younger sister to Maomao, or with the Jade pavilion girlies and Verdigris girlies, who are like her older sisters. Maomao is comfortable teasing Shisui without the threat of looking disrespectful because she's younger or of lower status(to her knowledge), so we got to see a side of Maomao that we don't usually see. Maomao, freakiest in all of the rear palace, getting weirded out by the peppy bug girl but growing fond of her was so wonderful to see.

Shisui plays off so well with Maomao too, and that's probably because they're also on equal footing when it comes to their intellect. They each have their own specialties, but what they both have in common is their general cleverness. Shisui is smart enough to know how to deal with Maomao and is even one of the few people who is constantly one step ahead of Maomao. Only other person is probably Suirei, which is ironic. Catching Maomao off guard is proof enough that they're sisters lol.

It also says a lot that Shisui is the first person to make Maomao look so, idk, desperate to hold on to a person. That isn't very like her. Maomao goes with the flow and greets misfortune and loss with bitter and resigned acceptance. But when she realized Shisui is about to do something that would get her executed, Maomao tried to convince Shisui to do otherwise TWICE. Maomao, who has a strong sense of justice and knew Shisui had a hand in J*nshi's near death, told Shisui to forget about her responsibility with the Shi Clan and taking accountability for her crimes and just run away and survive. The angst in the final episodes was so damn painful, but it pulled at my heartstrings to see Maomao express how much their bond has meant to her through this conflict. And it was painful to see Shisui for one short second struggle to not take Maomao's hand.

Anyways. They're great. Shisui's gonna be one of my favorite fictional characters ever and I hope Maomao gets to see her again someday. Xiaolan is a child of divorce now and it breaks my heart that the series ends with them all parting ways.

Summary: Each Marvel team is a NHL hockey team, and the Stanley Cup Finals are The Thunderbolts vs. The Avengers

Author’s note: Hi! I decided to try my chance at a Tumblr fic using my knowledge as a hockey player! This is very much inspired by @buckysleftbicep and their hockey!Bucky post, and some aspects of this do come from them (I tried to make it unique to me so please let me know if I took too much). I put so much thought into each part of the hockey dynamic, so I hope it’s not too hockey heavy for anyone—I promise I’ll put more x reader stuff if I do a second part. If you do want another part please tell me cause I had a lot of fun doing this :D. Also sorry for a lack of aesthetics compared to other blogs, I’m very new to this.

The Thunderbolts were one of the most known Hockey teams across the nation. They had it all; the skills, the teamwork, the players, and the presence.

Every game they played was packed with fans, every social media post from a player was flooded with attention, and every single interview would be reposted and edited into hundreds of TikTok’s.

Despite being a newer Professional Hockey team, they had quickly garnered a massive fan base. Everyone loved them, well…

Except for the Avengers.

The Avengers had been around for a while, having drastic popularity since their first debut. The team was full of some of the most skilled players to touch the ice, with a pile of records and achievements to their names.

Neither team liked each other, having a rivalry that had fans squealing every time they interacted. Snarky remarks were thrown around during press conferences, TikTok edits were made, and PR teams had a field day any time one team lost a game.

That rivalry is what made these next few weeks that much more special; the Stanley Cup Finals.

7 games, best of four—7 chances for a team to come home to their city with the trophy. Countless games have led up to this event, and every fan was on the edge of their seats.

It was time to go big or go home.

It was the first game, UBS Arena—The Thunderbolts home turf. Fans swarmed the building hours before the game even started, vying for merchandise and the best snacks to eat while cheering. People traveled all the way across the country to watch this moment in history; nearby hotels were having the best business in months.

In the middle of it all were two teams; a handful of players waiting to step onto that ice and prove to the world that they have what it takes to win.

There were thirty minutes before warmups started, and while both teams were busy in their locker rooms going over last minute plans, fans found their seats as the commentators discussed their predictions for the upcoming game.

“Well, I can expect a great game from both sides—no doubt about that. The rivalry between both captains is already making the stakes of this even more important.” One announcer spoke, leaning back in his chair as he held his mic up.

The others nodded along with him, all of them surrounding the announcer table with crisp suits on. The man to his right spoke up, taking a second to adjust his tie. “Oh definitely Mark, we’ve seen some incredible moments from every player on both teams; there’s no doubt these next few games won’t go the same way.”

The chattering of fans could be heard in the background of them, some already starting to cheer for their respective teams.

“I feel like not many people are understanding just how important this first game can be for everyone involved. Both teams are coming into this with the mindset of winning, but the score of this game will really show which one’s mentality is stronger.”

A few more comments were thrown out there, each man bringing up their own predictions or insights to the upcoming event. It kept the people watching at home engaged enough so that waiting for the players to show up became almost bearable.

“I mean,” an announcer with a navy blue suit tapped his fingers against the table, “The Avengers came into this season ready to defend their Championship title from their victory last year against The Guardians, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a little dirty with their plays against The Thunderbolts—especially Rogers.”

The other three laughed at the comment, an older man raising a brow before speaking. “I have no doubt that Roger’s will be willing to go toe-to-toe with them; all bets are off once him and Barnes are at center ice. Those two have been butting heads ever since Barnes’s team joined the pros.”

“Well, I don’t know about you three, but I think both sides have to keep an eye out for the respective underdogs of each team; there’s always the ones that manage to slip under the radar until it’s too late.”

A few hums of agreement left the group, heads nodding along in sync at the statement. “I agree with you wholeheartedly Johnson—we have some amazing players out there that hide right under everyone’s noses. For The Avengers, I feel they need to keep an eye out for Starr on the ice; she has a real talent for getting those backdoor shots in before anyone even notices that she’s there.”

“And Barton’s a dangerous player to leave unchecked on the ice—we’ve seen him send pucks from the goal line all the way to center ice with a flick of the wrist. That can definitely send The Thunderbolts into a scramble if they don’t plan for it.”

A loud horn cut through the commentary, echoing through the gigantic arena and sending the audience into a loud frenzy. The cameras did a sweep of the crowd, showing a variety of fans from both teams, all here for a common goal.

“Well folks, it looks like we’ll all get our answers soon; place your bets, because we are about to witness history here at UBS Arena in Elmont New York!”

Fog horns filled the ears of everyone watching, spotlights all focusing in on the tunnel between the two benches. Coaches stood in their respective areas; Alexei clapping his hands in time with the crowd, while Tony adjusted the cuffs of his sleeves with a sigh.

The music picked up its tempo, bass drums reverberating through everyone’s seats. More lights flashed, cheers grew, and the announcers voice cut in through the speakers.

“Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals! We have a very interesting lineup ahead of us tonight—The Avengers versus….The Thunderbolts!”

The stands erupted in cheers, flags waving, signs bumping, and hands clapping. The spotlights grew brighter, the silhouette of a lightning bolt hitting the ice. Anticipation grew, some people rising out of their seats to see better.

“Now…give it up for our team, the ones who’ve made this arena into their homes, and the ones waiting to get their first Stanley Cup victory!”

The music quieted, beats getting strung out in a decrescendo—even the audience grew hushed.

Then, it happened. Two aggressive beats of a drum. Then the music was back.

First, the goalie appeared, skating onto the ice with an easiness to him that could only be achieved when you knew you were a damn good goalie.

Then it was Ava, braid swishing behind her as she hit the ice with two strong glides. Her face was one of indifference, legs moving with a simple elegance not many could achieve.

Yelena was next, short and quick bursts of movement propelling her across the smooth surface. Fans chanted her name, a chorus of YE—LE—NA, YE—LE—NA filling the arena. She made a quick show of skating by the boards, throwing a smug smile at a couple of lucky people in front row as the embroidered ‘A’ on her jersey caught the light.

Bob followed, a boyish bounce to each movement he made, a stark reminder of his rookie status to the team. The spotlight followed him as he gave a dramatic bow to the audience members before flashing a wink at a blonde girl behind the plexiglass.

John was close behind, bulkier frame evident in the way one push of his skates carried him all the way across the sheet of ice, eyes full of a determination that could make anyone waver. His jersey sporting the matching ‘A’ to Yelena’s, marking his position as an Assistant Captain.

The audience was already going crazy, fists pounding against the glass as the cameras panned to the crowd for a second before focusing back on the tunnel.

“Look at all these fans going crazy folks, you don’t see this everyday; and that’s only the first five players! Now it’s time for one of my personal favorites—you know her, you love her, it’s…y/n l/n!”

The music sped up, going into the second half as your blades met the glistening ice. You moved like you were floating, barely leaving any grooves on the surface as you glided around the goal net. One hand loosely held your stick, while the other lifted your helmet enough to shake your hair out. The familiar cold air bit at your skin, a welcoming wake up call as you fit your helmet back on when you reached the blue line.

“God, you gotta love her. L/n has made a lasting impression on everyone since her and Bob joined the team this season; they both show the spectrum of how rookies are in the NHL, and you can’t help but wonder how they’ll act during their first Stanley Cup championship.”

The rest of the team filed onto the ice, each getting their own cheers and applause from the crowd. The announcers gave small comments here and there about each one, until there was only one player left.

Him.

Almost every Thunderbolts fan stood up, feet stomping against the ground in a steady beat, clapping along while letting out yells of BU—CKY, BU—CKY, BU—CKY! The announcers let it linger, building up the momentum until they let it free.

“He doesn’t need much of a introduction, but it feels unfair to not give him one; ladies and gentlemen, please welcome onto the ice—for his first NHL finals of his career—the James ‘Bucky’ Barnes!”

The team stood on the blue line, sticks slamming against the ice to match the beat the audience had set, grins on all of their faces—which only grew once he made it on the ice.

Bucky wasn’t one to show off too much, choosing to focus on the winning the game instead. His movements were calm, crossovers executed like it was easy as breathing; his body was projected onto the Jumbotron, eyes casting a once over at the crowd before landing on his team.

That’s when he let himself grin, a small tug of his lips as he skated to them. The music slowed the a stop right as he made it to the blue line—a space in the middle of the team reserved just for him, between Yelena and John—a hard stop sending snow up and into the air.

“Just look at this line up, they’ve already won over the stadium and the game hasn’t even started yet! With the energy they’re bringing, it’s gonna be hard for The Avengers to match it.”

The cameras did another sweep, going across each player on the ice before landing on Alexei on the bench, who looked liked a proud dad watching his kids.

“Well, I suppose we have to let the other team onto the ice to get this game started; though, I’m not sure how confident any Avengers fans are feeling after that show.”

Because even though The Avengers have been around for longer, The Thunderbolts sure knew how to put on a damn good show.

I know I said this before, but I genuinely made a weird black reader account because I wanted to see myself more in fanfiction media as someone who is a weird black nerd who just happens to be a queer teenage girl. I felt like it was my soul-given duty to give people what they needed, lol. I never really expected myself to get so popular or have a thousand people follow me online, or to get lots of likes on my ramble fic. I really just did this all for fun and to help other people see themselves in the media that they enjoy. Ever since I was little, I've always been hit with these things like, "Oh, but you're black; you can't like these things." "Oh, but you're a girl; you can't like these things." It’s so weird because there have been black nerds for like forever, and people get so shocked when there is an actual black nerd, or they act like we can’t like these things because they’re predominantly white, and I say hell no to that. I always wanted to write fanfiction, but I didn’t really know if I could do it or if I had the writing skills for it. If I consider past my dyslexia, I actually wanted to put pen to paper, and it turns out I had that power! I’m so glad I figured it out and built a community of people, and some mutuals and friends. I’ve always been a weird black girl since elementary school when I figured out Power Rangers were a thing, and I’ll forever be one. If I’m being honest, I’ll have this Tumblr account until I graduate high school. Hell, maybe I’ll even pass it down to my children or something; my daughter is going to inherit my Tumblr account! One day, I’m thinking about making an AO3 and posting some stuff there because why not? there are many opinions flying around and lowkey i think many have some grounds behind them. i will go deeper for the love of the game

i will try to break this down in chronological order to best get my thoughts out there may be some jumping

gf reveal:

i think no matter what he did or how he did it this was going to cause some fandom craziness. which is fine. people react to change this is so common and so normal. i think some missteps were one having his gf interact with fans before the hard launch it gave some of his most intense fans a way to seem like they had something others didn’t which never ends well i feel like if he launched the gf then she interacted with fans it would lesson the opportunity for people to spread rumours about how she interacted with people which would then maybe lesson the ‘dox’ (i use this for lack of a better word) phase everyone dreams attached to suffers.

i also think another misstep was the dranart account i think it’s okay to have a s/o helping you run things, i think it’s okay to play into unserious shipping with the fans a bit with harmless jokes about your friend, i even think it’s okay to let people think you’re behind an account your not to create some ‘magic’ and fun in the fandom. however all three together, having your s/o play into ships while running an account for you that you said you were behind is like muddying the waters a bit and while i don’t deeply care about this i can acknowledge that this dynamic could make people upset with how it may be perceived .

this will be a recurring theme but i think dreams biggest honest to god crime is sometimes not seeing things from a fans perspective. like yes from his pov in this situation he may think all this is stupid and unfounded but he has much more insight then anyone else. taking a step back and acknowledging that fans have a warped perception naturally could go a long way.

snf vs dream hangout battle:

i think this was all supposed to be playful banter that kinda blew out of proportion. once again i think dream isn’t acknowledging the natural warped fan pov. we obviously aren’t around to see their in depth convos that mixed with the fact that at literally any point any one of them can be misconstruing the truth (not on purpose i don’t think) how are we supposed to know who’s telling the truth. also the opposite stories are just funny at this point (snf saying he will always say no and dream saying they never ask in the first place) also i think they need to meet in the middle i don’t think snf should have to plan out every little detail for dream to have to agree to show up i also don’t think it’s fair on dream if they are throwing shit on him last minute everytime when he is busy. however there is definitely times we have seen dream lurking while they are live and joining in those moments could be an olive branch he can extend.

at the end of the day they could all benefit if they were all a little more flexible with their expectations (we would benefit too)

cursed 5 am (pr?) space and resulting reddit spree:

first off i will always believe dream just needs to stay off reddit but allas.

for this occasion i’m going to start backwards with the reddit spree first.

i’ll start off by saying dream is an adult and he can be upset at what he wants but for the sake of me providing some breakdown i will be criticizing this lol.

once again the warped fan perception (and maybe a little denial on his part) so if we hit the snf stuff again he’s upset that fans feel he aired things out from what i could gather. however from a typical fans perspective we have had history of snf expressing that they don’t like when he gives timelines and goes into their projects and dream has openly acknowledged this as well . their stance on this may of changed but WE don’t know that. pair that with the fact that he states he ‘mentioned’ these projects and his thoughts on why things arent moving. when in reality that aspect took up a minimum of 1/3 of the entire space you could very easily see why fans feel that he overstepped and may assume ill intentions. i think he downplays the time he spoke on it at the same time as not acknowledging fans pov which if you look at the space through that lense would of course make fans look crazy for thinking he crossed a line.

this isn’t something i’m deeply concerned with either but once again i can understand where people are coming from.

then we talk about him being upset that people think he’s not putting out content. but the reality is he is not lol and that’s fine i’ve never been a dream has to grind out content person i’ve been his biggest defender when it comes to that but yes of course you know how much work you are putting into things but obviously fans who see very little of your day to day are not going to know this. and listen there are cc’s who show a lot more of their day to day which in turn allows their fans to see and acknowledge this hard work. dream does not have to share his day to day if he doesn’t want to but then he has to be fine with people not praising his grind 24/7 and maybe even be fine with people complaining about him being mia. once again ill always be his biggest content drought defender despite it all.

and to be more fair he has been putting out the daquavis shit which correct me if i’m wrong or there’s more i haven’t been locked in. but from what i saw this is content that fans don’t want it seemed daquavis was out of touch with dreams fanbase. once again i don’t think any of this is a crime dream can put out the content he wants to fans don’t have to like it that’s his prerogative but with that there needs to be understanding that some fans won’t feel satiated.

also the elephant in the room him following up with dnf after every mention of the gf. i obviously don’t know his intent with this but he has to know what it comes off as. that’s all im saying about that.

at the end of the day dream isn’t evil he’s just some guy that could prehaps do himself some favours but can’t we all

Recruiter!In-ho and s1 Gi-hun.

S1 Gi-hun being his pathetic cute self and instead of meeting our recruiter he meets In-ho hehe

Maybe In-ho lost a bet or he was just bored... anyway In-ho is the recruiter for the night and meets Gi-hun

And because In-ho is a little freak he does enjoy setting the trash straight and slapping them before giving them the card and manipulating them into joining the game. It's a thrill. No wonder the Recruiter likes his job so much.

Figuring out the plot as I go as usual

So In-ho spots this pathetic man, recently beaten up, sitting on the bench in the underground station... just reeking of self-pity and bad choices and pathetic life that is beneath In-ho. Jackpot. Another man he can con into playing some murder games.

(In-ho has one goal and that is to beat Seok-woo's record of having x amount of people sign up the next day)

So In-ho approaches Gi-hun. And gets a lovely surprise when he pulls out a fake gun (In-ho's dormant detective reflexes almost kick in and he almost has Gi-hun pressed against the nearest wall just for pulling out that fake gun) but then Gi-hun pulls the trigger and it's just a lighter. Gi-hun has the audacity to smirk at In-ho. And In-ho is intrigued.

Especially cause Gi-hun shows no interest when In-ho asks him if he wants to play a game

Showing him the money does the trick and In-ho is met with the most endearing puppy eyes. Damn it.

This game might get more interesting than In-ho thought...

Probably will be the same conversation that Gi-hun and the recruiter had (i am currently rewatching the scene to get the vibe and I miss Gong Yoos character. Such an icon)

So it's the same spiel

Gi-hun goes first, doesn't hit the ddakji and is sputtering that he doesn't have the money and In-ho drops the line that he could pay with his body 👀

The look and Gi-hun's face makes In-ho withhold the information that he means slapping by that! (although the shocked and offended look on Gi-hun was hilarious!)

Like maybe Recruiter was complaining on another of their "bestie" calls after Inho reprimanded him about not meeting the daily quota of players (they're getting close to the start date), and he's like "bitch, you have no idea what it's like interacting with these lowlife up close." and then one thing led to another where Inho agreed to try recruiting one night and that happens to be the night he runs into Gihun.

But I think it would also be diabolical if he was like "you can also pay with your body" and Inho has his way with him at that motel but he's so into Gihun's responses and that bod that he decides to pull Gihun out of the games (revoke his Player 456 card) and keep him as a side piece (and probably kidnaps him to the island so they can suck and fuck while the games are going on 😂). Tumblr newbies, I love you but I'm also losing my goddamned patience lol. The amount of times I see new users complaining when they get caught with their pants down because people, on the sharing site, interacted with or reblogged their seemingly normal posts is an annoying amount. And don't get me started on newbies then coming into people's inbox or messages about it.

On your post, go to the dots or the cog. See that "who can reblog? anyone" thing? Yeah, set that to no one. If you really do not want people reblogging your post, please set it that way rather than just expecting people to magically know not to use one of the site's features. It won't stop people from being able to like it though or leave comments.

And if you want less people seeing your post, use personalized tags, not popular ones tons of people will browse like the art or writing tag, and put things like dashes in the names of fandoms or characters. (Ex: Mord/ecai or lack-a-daisy).

All that said, this does not change the main issue. For the love of all that is holy STOP USING TUMBLR, THE SITE THAT RUNS ON INTERACTION, FOR NO INTERACTION BLOGS! That's like trying to use a strainer to try to keep the water in, it probably won't work as well as just getting a private website or Discord server or something. Especially if you do not know how to use Tumblr yet. I can't stop anyone from doing anything, of course, but a social media site is just not a good place for "I only want offsite people to see this, and I'd hate if anyone so much as interacted with it".

I really do strongly dislike the very idea of the 'downfall' timeline. Like it can be fun to play with a version of OOT where Link up and died, there's definitely some interesting stuff to be done with that, but I really hate that the 'downfall' timeline is something I have to consider canon despite it making infinitely less sense than simply interpreting OOT as a prequel to ALTTP. No 'if Link died' qualifiers, just as is. Since OOT was very, very obviously based on the backstory explained in ALTTP and all, y'know. Not everything fits 1:1, but that's par for the course with LOZ games, and the ending of OOT very specifically sets up ALTTP.

So it's just deeply, deeply irritating to me to have the 'official' timeline say 'yeah actually that ending did not set up ALTTP. ALTTP happened in a completely different version of the ending than what you saw', like. I really despise how that paves over the history of OOT and the franchise as a whole for the sake of some remote semblance of 'timeline consistency'. Playing ALTTP and then playing OOT and realizing OOT was basing itself on the backstory from ALTTP was a really cool moment for me and it pisses me off that I'm just supposed to pretend the game I played didn't pre-date ALTTP at all and instead some nebulous parallel version that we never saw in-game was the REAL precursor to ALTTP. I don't care how much it messes up the timeline I'm not doing that.

Literally who cares if Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and ALTTP all co-exist as wildly different OOT sequels. They can take turns. They can exist in a quantum state. Or they can exist in three different timelines the exact way they do now, I don't really care how people choose to interpret it on an individual level, I just don't like it when people treat the 'downfall timeline' as the presumed canon when, going by the actual games of OOT and ALTTP rather than the Hyrule Histoira, that makes very little sense.

i wish i could be even louder and prouder about them due to circumstances i’ve mentioned before, but i sort of want this little side log to be just.. a fun bonus! a fun little bonus of art and love and fun for these characters and love for the people who love them, and less of a shame corner that i need to haphazardly stuff everything into. i wanna stop holding back and really just put the full potential that i know i have into my art and writing and musings and postings of these guys… because i want others to do the same!

I watched Jacks stream oh my gosh...

I thought I could handle a Dsmp stream in 2024 but nope. just- that felt SO much like just a stream that would happen in like 2021. the wandering around falling into random creeper holes, chat telling jack to get philza to help him, and to find michael, the mobs interrupting and how unplanned it all was. unscripted lore my beloved forever and ever.

the way that it's like in tommy and jacks conversation- they're talking about things in character that also relates to (presumably) their feelings in real life. just gosh...

when jack and tommy said their goodbyes and jack looked back at technos house to see the sun rising- like its so perfect in a way that the incidental roleplay always was. Like in the way I know I'm reading into it but it still works and it feels like real life when something happens and you find yourself in that moment and life looks almost like a movie- everything in it's proper place for the scene- but it's all just coincidence. the sun didn't rise because a writer wrote that it would. the sun just rises and falls and the conversation just happens to end at that exact moment.

idk just- I really felt it. It captured the feeling of peak dreamsmp that I've missed so much.

I don't even have a problem with nuke ending personally I think it's perfectly fine as an ending. How I've always seen it is: Everyones been hurt by everyone and violence begets violence so the great final act is nukes that will kill everyone that have all ready been launched so it can't be taken back. Then in the prison tommy sees the early parts of the server through Dreams pov and sees the good that was there at the start and how much that has been corrupted since and he wants that simplicity again (he and dream were even friends at one point) before everything went terrible for everyone. Dream turns his back on his plan that he's been building up to for so long cause what he really wants is the same thing as tommy. for things to be simple like at the start. but it's too late- its too far gone. the nukes have already been launched there's no going back. just the hope that maybe in another world things could've been different.

(also the added context of nuke ending being an elaborate character/relationship/map reset to setup a season 2 that never happened.)

So there's my nuke ending defense lol. I know it wasn't very popular with a vast amount of people and that's okay too.

I think ending something like dsmp was never gonna be easy or satisfy everybody, with how many individual povs there are and storylines. I always expected there to be things left unfinished. (unfinished symphony ;) Even if that's pretty unsatisfying for us viewers. (there's a particular stream I really wish had happened with foolish, dream, and eret)

idk there's a post I always remember when thinking about the ending that was like: "Maybe they couldn't write a happier ending at that time in their lives." (super paraphrasing) obviously talking about techno's passing. it's a bit assumptive but the CC's have talked publicly about how much that has affected them (of course it did). With something like that I imagine giving your minecraft server/roleplay character a happy ending is the last thing on your mind.

Todays stream felt like grief and nostalgia and complicated feelings for a time that has passed but still left it's marks on you:
