Something something Lilia as Glinda because she sees the sorrow, grief, and pain carried by her best friend. She sees that Agatha wasn’t born wicked, but had wickedness thrust upon her. She disagrees with some of her actions, but she loves her anyway. And in the end she’ll will sacrifice what she must so her friends can be happy.

Something something Jen as the Evil Queen because she’s obsessed with beauty and herself. She is bound by her self love and when she learns to look outside the mirror she will unlock great power.

Something something Billy as Maleficent because he’s an outcast amongst witches (not truly part of the coven, had to invite himself to the party), and because there is a dragon hiding within him, waiting to be unleashed.

can you tell the exact moment Jasfira possessed Syl?

because Syl was himself the entire time before that moment attacking Mikey (he sent the emails donnie eventually found, after all)

here’s the part where he switches:

Syl whirled to face him, grin taking up half his face. “Hey, Mikey! I’ve been thinking about something.”

Mikey rubbed his arms to fight off the chill. “What’s up?”

Syl tapped the side of his head. “I’ve been thinking of swimming pools and oceans. I was curious to know if you think Draxy forces you into a swimming pool.”

Mikey thought about it, rubbing his arms and huffing. “Um… I know he’s still teaching me more of the basics. I’m not as advanced in mystics as I would like to be, so I understand his methods.”

The tall butterfly’s smile tightened. “I think he’s tossed you in a swimming pool, Michelangelo.”

He blinked, startled. “Why do you think that?”

How would Syl even know something like that?

The yokai had a new look in his eye, frantic and hungry. “Baron Draxum won’t teach you everything there is to know.”

Did you catch it?

Syl calls Mikey “Michelangelo” and instead of calling Draxum ‘Draxy’ like he’s always used, he uses the full “Baron Draxum.”

I didn’t see anyone mention it/notice so I wanted to point that little detail out hehe

I did as much research as I could, but I know I'm not going to have the authenticity to cover their story like a Native Hawaiian artist would be able to. Nonetheless, I hope I could give these characters more dignity then they're often treated to under DC.

Meet the seven new frog species we just named after iconic Star Trek captains!

At the right time of year along rushing streams in the humid rainforests that stretch the length of Madagascar's eastern and northern mountain ridges, otherworldly trills of piercing whistles can be heard.

Are they birds? Insects? Communicator beeps? Tricorder noises?

No, they're little treefrogs!

Until recently, we thought all of the populations of these little brown frogs across the island were one widespread species, Boophis marojezensis, described in 1994. But genetics in the early 2000s and 2010s showed that there were several species here, not just one.

Now my colleagues and I have shown that they are in fact eight separate species, each with unique calls!

These whistling sounds reminded us so much of Star Trek sound effects that we decided to name the seven new species after Star Trek captains: Boophis kirki, B. picardi, B. janewayae, B. siskoi, B. pikei, B. archeri, and B. burnhamae.

I subtly and not-so-subtly built some Star Trek references into the paper, but probably the best one is this one:

'Finding these frogs sometimes requires considerable trekking; pursuing strange new calls, to seek out new frogs in new forests; boldly going where no herpetologist has gone before.'

There’s a real sense of scientific discovery and exploration here, which we think is in the spirit of Star Trek.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that there are at least two Trekkies amongst the authors (including yours truly). As fans of Star Trek, we are also just pleased to dedicate these new species to the characters who have inspired and entertained us over the decades.

On a personal note, this marks a milestone for me, as it means I have now described over 100 frog species! I am very pleased that the 100th is Captain Janeway's Bright-eyed Frog, Boophis janewayae (if you count them in order of appearance in the paper)—she is probably my favourite captain, and I really love Star Trek: Voyager.
