An angsty new game plus au that made me cry several times, with some palace ruler Joker mixed in for flavor. It's unfinished but still is a satisfying conclusion where it's left off. This fic ripped my heart out, stomped on it, set it on fire and threw it to a lake full of pirahanas and I'm thanking it. There's some akeshu shipping, but it's pretty tame and not really the main focus. Also the chapter names are gold. Also also there's a bunch of P4 references I didn't really understand, but if you've played that game you might like it. On top of that all is some amazing art that's so good I had some of it as my lock screen for months. I pulled 2 all nighters to finish reading this fic as soon as possible and so if you do that and die uh. I am not responsible.

A palace ruler!Joker au that once again stomped on my heart like it was a spider and im still not over it. It's set right between Haru's introduction as Beauty Thief and the actual start of Okumura's palace. It's very fun and Haru breaks a table to get everyone to shut up. I loved every second of this disaster and you will too. This one's the one with minor hints of unrequited Yusuke/Joker so if you're not into that beware, but as someone who's not a big fan of that ship I barely noticed it so don't worry too much.

It may be an elaborate shitpost but this fic has me in a goddamn stranglehold. It's a more Akechi-centric duck soulmate au that has no right to be so good. I'm not a fan of soulmate aus normally but damnit this one broke me. It's the embodiment of crack treated seriously and if you like that then you'll love this, and if you don't give it a shot anyway. Akechi's inner monologue is hilarious and Arsene being terrible at directions is a thing. Arsene is here and he is a disaster.

This one's not really angsty I just think it's funny. Akechi and Joker get into a fake dating competition and become menaces upon society. It's only 2 chapters in out of 5 but I liked it enough to share. If you like slamming your face into a wall wanting to strangle your blorbo because they can't see obvious signs then congrats, this is the one for you. Do beware of the eventual smut tag though.

Ok ok im back. Its been like 2 minutes since i sent the ask but i wanted to add that the first time Scoob uses his ballyhoo onscreen, we have the little star show up again! Its on his collar and as the thumbnail for the chapter, so idk if its still there in later chapters but i do think Scoob has the blessing from the very start. Maybe it wasnt planned THAT far back but also the whole Mick/Shaggy reveal was sorta planned since we always see Shaggy 2's eyes in the costume even from day 1 so who knows. Maybe it was planned but the creator (i forgot their name im so sorry) pulled back on the symbolism? probbsly not but im just firing off ideas lmao

HI WELCOME BACK- okay yes that's a really good point. I will say that I don't think the entities may have been planned that far back, but honestly I don't know! I read in an interview with the creator Dingo that he didn't originally plan for a larger storyline. Scoob and Shag was planned to be a bunch of separate shitposts, but as time went on he added continuity as a joke. I don't remember if he said at what point he sat down and plotted out the full story, so who knows!

I do agree tho that the reveal with Shaggy 2 was definitely planned, even if maybe the exact identity of "Mickey" might not have been figured out. The focus on the eyes is too obvious for me to assume that there wasn't something planned there. Also, side-note, looking back at those updates, I just want to say. I fucking hate that little bastard. Shaggy 2 (for lack of a better name for him) is one of my favorite characters b/c he's so fucking interesting and I want him to make a comeback and (in my dreams) maybe some kind of redemption arc, but when he's in that awful costume? I hate him. I love horror but GODDAMN.

Even tho I don't know if the entities were planned that far back, I think you're onto something, and I think the star being brought back later might've been intentional to tie back to the earlier updates. Because, yeah, it's a VERY interesting thing to notice. If we go with the theory that Scoob had Cyan's blessing from the beginning and only unlocked it later as he regained more of his memories (which again would make him the first to receive a blessing), then yeah 100% you're onto something.

(Also even if the entities weren't planned at all in part one, I want to say that it had to be a deliberate choice that Mickey only has red eyes post-Coward King. This comic's use of color is incredibly specific and deliberate and I'm gonna go ahead and take all of it as being meaningful.)

Food is important to me, so I can be a lil aggressive when it comes to waste and the following food law (i.e. dont eat what isnt yours). Food agression is Real™ in me, so trying to interact with me while I'm eating or cooking isnt advised (I WILL BITE)

Basically a cat: super flexible, kinda do my own thing, and when it comes to affection, headbutts, rubs, bites and/or licks are my main forms of expression. (Tho, there are times where I'll just, randomly stop what I'm doing, say "Hey, look at me", and when attention is achieved, make a heart with my hands, softly say "I love you", then continue whatever I was doing like nothing happened. When the nyoomies randomly hit, VolumeControl.exe stops working properly and I always feel bad when I get too loud. I usually stim by pacing around while talking/singing to myself, make random noises (mostly beep, meow, trill, etc.,) and also hand flappy! I mirror things alot, so if I interact with someone long enough, I'll subconsciously start mimicking them and their habits (mostly verbal quirks and accents, but physical quirks too sometimes).

I do not care about your character stan wars. I do not care about manufactured ship wars. I do not read fanfiction. I may, on rare occasion, trip over a piece of fanart or a gif set I like, and that is RARE. 

I do not belong to any technical lane, and I sure as hell do NOT give two flying FUCKS about any Tolerance Paradox logic of whatever weird ass social conventions people imagine within their particular lane.

If people bring dumb to my wall, I am going to drag the dumb over the hill and back. I did not sign any magical social contract to play nice just because everyone’s used to operating in this completely fabricated fucking system of behavior. If you use my blog as a springboard or an anon dump just to try to be some sort of contrarian, I will make you regret that. I am not obligated to tolerate any of it.

I did not ask to be a big name fan. The better part of my fandom existence consists of hiding in discords with very select groups of people. I at best lurk in the big discords and remember they exist once a year.

So, I just watched Learning With Pibby

So, I just recently watched that Learning with Pibby trailer that's going around, and I FELL in love with it. I love horror (which is probably why I keep adding horror elements to my fics) and trying to combine that with Cartoon Network's huge ass line up of characters is just *chef's kiss*. But as I watched it, I got some fun thoughts about it.

Oh, and pls watch the trailer before reading this. This has heavy spoilers.

-So, Gumball's apparently been got. AND Darwin survived. I'm probably not the first person who thought of this but what if, in the actual show if this thing gets one (which it probably will, the internet ate this shit up like hotcakes), Pibby gets to meet this depressed as fuck and traumatized Darwin, and during the endgame fight, we get a really dark parallel to the "I'm on my way!" sequence from TAWOG? Like, that would so cool, and also, I LIVE to see characters getting traumatized (which is probably why there's a ton of trauma in more of my serious fanfics).

-Apparently, the villian who joins the crew is from a spoof of Ducktales, which is interesting. And tbh, she gives me a Cruella vibe, which is fun.

-Tbh, the glitch kinda reminds me of the SCP-001 Proposal 'When Day Breaks' AND the Thing from John Carpenter's The Thing. Probably more of the former but there's a similar idea going on. It uses the faces of the characters it's assimilated as lurers for survivors. And as a fan of both monsters, I am really excited for this one.

-Apparently, there are a fuckload of Nickelodeon references. Spongebob, Rocko's Modern Life, a bunch more I can't remember right now. But then again, it makes sense considering the creator's background as a former dude at Nick.

-Thought of the idea of doing this kind of shit except make it about other big IPs and stuff. Like, come on anime fans, a spoof about Shounen Jump or smth would be so cool. Come on, this is the perfect kind of AU idea for huge crossovers.

-I swear Pibby is a Dora spoof, I swear to god I'm not lying. Like come, SHE HAS ANIMAL FRIENDS. But then again, so do most kids' shows. But for some reason, I'm getting Dora vibes from her, and I think it's because her and Boots have been engrained in my mind since I was like 5.

-Love the idea of making the opening exactly like how Learning with Pibby would actually go for regular episodes. And then, after the first episode, it starts getting more distorted and weird. Characters start glitching out, the background sometimes goes black, the Pibby stand-in switches between her show self and her actual self at random and for different amounts of time. It gets worse and worse to the point that show Pibby is gone and Actual Pibby is on the title screen and her little animal friends are either glitched-out monsters or have been replaced by actual survivors. The background's completely changed, the text is spoken like it's coming from hell. Like, that would be SO COOL!

And that's it for my Learning with Pibby rambling! I would've gone into the theories but I'm not THAT huge of Cartoon Network nut, so I'll just keep it at random thoughts I had while watching.

I just thought of the most 'so crossover that it doesn't make sense' idea ever. Ace Attorney except Pheonix has to babysit an underage Japanese mystery genre manga/anime protagonist every case. supernatural made me realize a bunch of shit about myself, specifically identity and it’s part of the reasons why i think it’s an inherently queer story.

allow me to clarify. once upon a time, 6 years ago, i found supernatural. back then i was mostly in the closet, even to myself. i’d gotten to that point of “hah wouldn’t it be nice to be like guys on tv and kiss the pretty girls” but not much further than that, because in most of the movies i had watched with my parents, the personality of the guy wasn’t really explored in the way supernatural (mostly unintentionally ngl) does with its characters.

so picture a teen, finding my first tv show to watch alone, being able to think my very own comments about it and not fear any repercussions from those thoughts because hey, i’m alone in my room i can think what i like about what i’m seeing. and feeling.

and here enters dean. complicated, comes from a rough childhood, parental expectations weighing so heavy on him it’s bleeding through his smiles, has a brother he feels is his duty to protect, is stuck in a loop of denial repression depression sublimation denial repression depression sublimation den-

you get the gist. i related to that guy. and then here he goes getting bi-coded (didn’t know what that was at the time but looking back, i could sure as hell feel it) and then kissing girls on screen, despite his wavering self-confidence. little ol’ gay me was like “yoooo i relate to this character on most of his character points, do i also relate to like..... wanting to do what he does??? do i wanna kiss other girls????”. fast forward one season and i’ve already figured out i was maybe bi. literally thanks to season 1 dean.

so, having figured out this “minor” aspect of myself, i went on youtube to find some other people like me and try to see if i was right to be homophobic towards myself or not. figured out, hey uh, definitely not. so you can also add “it ended up making me try to put a stop to my internalized homophobia” on the list of things that shitpost of a show helped me with.

i went back to the show for another season, relating even more to dean, and “blah blah blah queer coded character blah blah blah gay me could feel it before i knew what it was blah blah blah happy gay stuff”. several seasons passed by before anything new came up on my “hm this show rly out here bringing out all the queer aspects of myself huh” journey, but anyways i was still slowly but surely thinking holy shit i wanna be this goddamn man i want to be dean.

then comes season 4, walzing into my questioning little heart. oof ok, this season hit ALL the right spots for me. because i could feel what was going on between cas and dean and even though everything was still blurry as fuck, the parallel between sam/ruby and dean/cas was clear as day. and i was like “oh so you’re saying there’s a love here and it’s like that tarnished love between sam and ruby and it’s forbidden so that’s why we’re not seeing it and it’s like... gay”. so it made me realize “holy shit, i wanna see more gay content, and it’s ok to want that.”

then cas became another extremely relatable character, because i just kept thinking “he doesn’t really have a gender the same way other humans do” and i shit you not, he started me questioning my own gender. because again, a relatable character that you somewhat identify with that makes you ask questions about their identity INEVITABLY makes you ask questions about yourself. queue me going on youtube yet again to understand this shit a little better. i went through a few months of thinking “maybe i’m nb”, joined a few more gay communities on the internet, started learning about lgbtq+ things, watched a few more gay shows, and basically just grew a little more into my queerness.

fasforward several seasons, a couple gap years where i stopped watching it, and you’ll get to me a year ago. i thought i was a gay woman, fairly happy in that mental space and identity. but then. the whole “i wanna be dean” thing came up a lot again. because he just kept on being more and more visibly queer coded as i kept on learning more about this shit.

lo and behold, i jumped straight into the idea i was trans. and wouldya look at dat, i was right. quarantine happened, so i had to get even more of my interactions through online platforms, and quite obviously hovered around the gayer ones, or at least the lgbtq+ sides of them. and as i kept watching the show on and off, binging the first seasons for the 4th time, i kept learning more and more about myself. and those acts of gay frenzy were always started by seeing something relatable or strange in that show and looking it up. like, legitimately every time.

i found this community on tumblr a few weeks ago because i was tired of having my own little hypotheticals in my head and not knowing if anyone agreed, and the more i’ve been here the more i’ve learned about myself. the more i’ve let go of a lot of internalized hatred. the more i’ve been really ok with myself, as a trans guy. BUT ITS NOT FINISHED YET.

because, as we all know, it is common understanding here that dean is bi. WELL, i’ve been re-binging the show with that mindset finally clear in my head, and the “haha dean relatable lol” thing came up again, except it was really a “haha dean (who is bi) super relatable lol” thing now. so i paused, yet again, to think about that a little more. AND FIGURED OUT I WASNT STRAIGHT, IM BI AS FUCK.

that happened 1 month ago. i thought i’d grown fully into my queer self, that i’d gone through enough realizations and coming outs (to friends only, god forbid i come out to my parents (unfortunately quite literally god forbid lmao) before i’m out of here) for a lifetime. but apparently not. AND IT WAS STILL BECAUSE OF SUPERNATURAL. destiel and trans!dean fics helped with my internalized transphobia and homophobia, they helped with acceptance of those parts of myself. something that helped was also seeing the fact that shipping two guys in a tv show wasn’t just “being greedy with my grubby little gay hands” and wanting to think of a character as trans wasn’t just “being delusional and ridiculous”. and reading fics wasn’t cringy, it was nice and comforting.

so to try and sum up this unhinged gay rant, what i meant by my initial statement is this.

looking back on this entire self-discovery journey that i went on, it really felt like i was in the impala with the boys, except i was on a different kind of route (just picture this giant road painted in rainbow colors with baby driving at 80mph on it, that’s what it felt like). i grew with those characters, but most importantly i grew THANKS to those characters. their story was queer enough to make me, a fairly homophobic, traditional, conservative kid into a lib trans bi dude. and not in a “i got converted by the fandoms” way. i found the fandom waaaaayyyyyyyy later. i stumbled upon the fandoms looking for answers about this gayass goddamn show that i could FEEL was like me but couldn’t verbalize yet.

their story felt like a queer self discovery story and i could already see that before i went on it myself. no other shows have ever done that for me, and i’ve watched shows that had lgbtq+ characters in them, scripted gay scenes, not just subtext but text. and they still didn’t do that for me.

so this is why this show is so meaningful to be, and incidentally so very gay. like genuinely.

End Thoughts/Corrections:

So both these polls were basically created in a day on a whim. I asked a bunch of people on here and twitter for suggestions for any I might have missed and that’s all she wrote. Here are a few things that are important to consider when looking at this data:

-Since these polls were made rather fast due there are few obvious options missing! I came at this with a casual approach and it might show a little. I started within the time close to the new year so people would still be interested. Though, I really do wish I thought of this a week or month before the end of 2019 so I could have spent more time collecting suggestion.

-The fan works poll was made second and was mandatory to pick your three top choices. This led to an even 848 people across the board picking their three. The Best Post poll was made so only the first question was mandatory and the other two were optional. This led to the first question having 809 responses while the other two had 748 and 752 respectively. If to be redone I would do it the way I did it with fan works. Again this was the first poll I’ve made so some minor mistakes were made. Lesson learned!

-The biggest regret was how I categorized the options. I first made Best Posts without knowing that I was going to make one for fan works so I had Tang’s Vaska video placed there when I now would have rather I’d put it in best Fan works. Same goes for things such as Tang’s Kankri’s arsenal. I sort of wish I made best posts explicitly text posts (with art responses is fine) and placed things such as comics and animatics in fan works instead. This has kept me up at night a little lol 

The plan is to one day make a poll for Best Fanfictions but for now I rest, thank you.

for almost a year i had the url ‘joonshine’ but i kind of drifted from bts and wanted something related to got7 and my bias bambam. but i also didn’t wanna lose ‘the brand’ so to speak, so i merged it into bamshine lol

just one! well, okay, one active one, anyway. i have a couple others that haven’t been updated in years, so I don’t really count them. the active one is @foggynightsandchristmaslights and well...i think the url gives it away lol. it’s an autumn/winter aesthetic blog. i’ve had it for several years and it’s doing quite well lol.

uuuuh. ten years, i think? too long lmfao.

no i don’t. tbh setting up a queue has always confused me a bit so i’ve never bothered making one.

it was to keep up with info about a book series i liked, and to participate in the fandom lol. my how far we have come.
