can’t let go of laila’s “would it kill you to fuck someone who respects you?” because there is two sides to jeremy’s poor choices in my opinion. on the one hand, i think he’s pretty aware that the guys he picks are disrespectful assholes and picks them for that exact reason. we know that jeremy mostly avoids talking about his past. he even tends to lie about it or at least talk around it. so hooking up with people who don’t respect him works out great for him because the thing about disrespectful assholes is that they don’t care about emotional intimacy or getting to know him—there is safety in that kind of distance. and even if there is a rejection, it’s not a rejection of him, because they don’t really know him. but it’s still a way to experience a counterfeit kind of closeness. on the other hand, i also believe there’s this ugly small part of him that thinks this is the kind of love he deserves. the kind of love he was taught to think he deserves and learned from every barbed and disrespectful comment thrown his way by his family. amd now he keeps reaffirming this belief with every partner he choses who doesn’t care about him beyond what he has to offer in bed, who doesn’t check up on him unless they’re looking for a quick hookup, who roughens him up non-consensually.

so yeah, to jeremy fucking someone who respects him probably feels like handing them everything they’d need to kill him—because it would mean he’d have to open up and make himself vulnerable enough to invite a level of trust and intimacy and love into that type of relationship that could be ripped away or turn into digust, leaving him feeling more rejected and abandoned and isolated than he already does.

Not to get overly sentimental but rap beef is honestly such a creative form of expression. Like we’re going to hold off on kicking the shit out of each other and calling up shooters to make clever rhymes about each other and get the common man saying words like ‘double entendre.’

Here’s a couple of suggestions of other diss tracks to listen to if you’ve found you’ve liked bitchy poetry:

Ether - Nas (2001) - diss track vs Jay Z & widely considered to be one of the best diss tracks ever released. It’s a response to Jay Z’s diss ‘Takeover’ which at the time of its release left people thinking Nas’ career was over and then Nas uno reversed that shit with Ether and it’s still considered to be a miracle that Jay Z managed to maintain his fame.

Hit ‘em up - 2Pac (1996) -diss track vs Biggie & Bad Boy records. Part of the East Coast / West Coast beef. 2Pac was shot 5 times and survived and Biggie released a song called ‘Who Shot Ya.’ Hit em up is Pac’s response and it’s iconic. Plus the tune is groovy as shit.

Real Muthaphuckkin’ G’s - Eazy E (1993) - Dr Dre left his group NWA over a dispute about contracts/pay. He later released a song called ‘Fuck with Dre Day’ where he had a go at Eazy E (the lead rapper of NWA). Eazy released this in response and it’s another groovy, west coast banger.

Story of Adidon- Pusha T (2018) - Pusha T walked so Kendrick Lamar could run. Need I say more.

No Vaseline - Ice Cube (1991) - vs remaining members of NWA. Cube was the first to leave NWA over contracts/pay disputes. The remaining members released an album, with subtle disses against him. Ice Cube, as Ice Cube does, got pissed.

Life’s on the Line - 50 Cent (2003) - adding this because 50 Cent hates as easily as he breathes and it’s something to marvel at. His beef with Ja Rule started in ‘99 when Ja Rule was robbed by 50’s people and then one thing lead to another and 50 was stabbed and then he was shot 9 times. ‘Time is the best medicine-‘ no. no it’s not. If anything 50 gets angrier through the years. 19 years later 50 bought 200 tickets to Ja Rule’s concert so the front rows were completely empty.

Danny is from a world where everyone has wings, even if most have long since lost the ability to fly. Something about loading and aspect ratio, wings being too small, body too heavy, now mostly used as display, whatever. 

It doesn’t matter even if he had blueprints from when he was like six of a jetpack to help fly. It won’t work anyway and hey, he has his ghost form! Which uh, might be perhaps, affecting his wings which were maybe sort of scorched black and practically down to the bone thanks to the accident. 

It doesn’t matter, he swears. Though he’s admittedly relieved to see the new feathers growing in are different from Dan’s angry sunset. Even if they’re not even supposed to be able to grow back. Alright, this is fine, no one is going to notice! It’s not like everyone knows about the poor Fenton kid whose wings were absolutely destroyed thanks to an accident! It’s fine. 

He’s not flying in a half-panic towards the Far Frozen while crying because his wings are coming back and he’s so scared. He didn’t panic and instantly fled the moment Jazz pointed them out while changing the bandages. 

He definitely didn’t trip over something while wiping away said tears and blacking out from all the stress and all of his problems that he definitely mentioned to someone and isn’t keeping a secret. Definitely. 

Hawkwoman and Hawkman would like everyone to know that neither of them were expecting a very small child to be spat out of the villain of that week’s machine that should definitely not be a portal. A very small child, maybe nine or ten, with a multitude of concerning wounds both old and fresh. Which isn’t even beginning to touch on the wings. 

Feathered, like baby down despite the gnarled scars, unlike their own metallic, with the beginning of tiny specklings like stars amidst the darker fuzz peeking from the wounded flesh. 

Who?! Who dared?! It’s (at least to the forever reincarnating duo) a literal baby! They still have down! Tiny baby fuzz! Was it the portal?! Oh this villain is going to taste their maces for causing this if that’s the case! 

The rest of the Justice League would honestly like to know what just happened and are honestly unsure on if they should stop the two…

Trying to explain how I think about Fifth Doctor era relationships like: Yeah Five and Tegan are a married couple who argue all the time, both before and after getting married, but they would also kill anyone who hurt the other while also about to get divorced. Nyssa is Five’s PhD student and he’s her weird professor but she’s also his adopted daughter and his co-worker too. Adric is Five’s adopted son, but Five also treats Adric like some random kid who’s just wandered into his house and started eating his food while Adric sees Five as his False Impostor Step-Dad who has Killed and Taken the Place of his Cool Real Father. Nyssa and Tegan are both Adric’s sisters. Nyssa and Tegan are also in love but are not married. Tegan and Turlough are catty best friends. Turlough and Five are fucking but they’ve also never had sex and never will. Kamelion thinks of Five and Turlough as family and is in love with Tegan. Five and Turlough think of Kamelion as their weird dog and Tegan actively Hates him and wishes He Would Die. All of their dynamics are also all entirely platonic. Hope this helps.

Okay guys, I’ve been seeing stories and ideas about the player/soul/vessel being an inconsiderate and antagonistic force that wants to stay in possession over Kris, and I get it. However, imagine this: the player/soul/vessel actually wanting to get out of Kris just as much as they do.

Think about it. The player created the vessel. The player was so on board to play as a custom character (at least the players that didn’t get spoilers). Then the game discarded the vessel and forced the player into Kris. The player didn’t ask for this any more than Kris did.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely agree that Kris hates the player and has every right to! I also agree about questioning the ethics and morality of being the player, especially when the custom sequence asked us to name the vessel and who created the vessel as separate questions! But to say the soul/player has intentionally possessed Kris and desires for it to remain that way feels…inaccurate. After all, one has to remember that we are all the “player”, so to even label the soul with a singular personality (let alone one so callous and cruel) seems bizarre to me.

I don’t know if anyone else shares this opinion, though. I’m just throwing my two cents into the void that is the Internet. And if you have a different perspective on how the player/soul/vessel is, that is perfectly valid!

i just kind of hate how every time someone is writing a female character, there is far more scrutiny on whether she is “good” representation. like no one ever writes a male character and is like “hmm… is this good representation for men?” because they’re ALLOWED to be written as smart or stupid, or serious or funny, or sensitive or mean, or loud or quiet, or competent or irrational, or jovial or angry, or wise or inexperienced, or pathetic or badass, or good or evil, or complex or one-dimensional. and they will ALWAYS be loved in some shape or form.

but the MOMENT a woman is any one of those things (even tho women irl can ALL have these traits), there are video essays and entire blogs and articles dedicated to Why That’s Not A Good Woman. and like YES, good female representation is important. i acknowledge and agree with that to hell and back. but god damn let these writers breathe. no one is ever going to want to write women again if we shove these impossible standards down their throats.
