I love seeing posts of the BMC kids—specifically Michael—using social media like insta/snapchat/tiktok/etc. bc it’s like “oh dumb teens doing dumb teen stuff that’s cute” but I have to be real w/ myself n admit that I genuinely believe Michael has never so much as touched any of those apps. I honestly think even tumblr is too mainstream for him. U could make a pretty solid case that he has the energy of a discord user and MAYBE reddit but, to me, Michael Mell spends most of his online existence on MMORPGs or old fucking chat forums and message boards, AOL-style. I imagine most of the ppl on these forums r adults n Michael is often the youngest one there by a looooooong shot. Jeremy and Michael’s moms stage an intervention in freshman year saying “It’s Weird That You Talk To Exclusively Older Ppl Online” n Mike’s like “nah they’re chill there’s this guy named Randy he has a son about our age he introduced us n now we play Warcraft together it’s a good time”. Michael’s moms forbid him from meeting any of the forum ppl in-person without supervision n he’s like “yeah that’s prolly 4 the best we’ve tried to meet as a group a few times b4 but they’re all Medical Equipment Techs (all of them) so they’re all busy w/ work :(“

very important update: after wrapping up season 3, she decided that she was going to binge-watch season 4 in one go. so, uh, she finished it!! in one day!!! yesterday!!!!

and after the usual routine of squealing any time zeb and kallus were on screen together, saying “oh i love this” about kallus being a badass towards pryce, and ofc mourning kanan and screaming about ezra, we got the reach the epilogue (!!!!!) which she watched in total silence, before pausing the tv, making the MOST dying-animal-esque noise of all time, and yelling “THAT WAS SO CUUUUTE.” like, she didn’t care about anything else. jacen? whatever. ahsoka being back? could care less. the only thing that matters is that, in her words, “ZEB AND KALLUS GOT TO RUN AWAY TOGETHERRR.”

she’s since made up her mind that they adopted several lasat babies and lived happily ever after, and i could not be more thrilled by this development.

It’s been a while since a flurry of people shifted apps, and now that some time has passed and allowed people time to settle in, I’m curious which ones have stuck.

I didn’t include Insta just because that feels like an established spot that might skew the results—I wanna know more about the newer/more niche places on the internet (and whether ppl are still primarily on the disaster formally known as Twitter)

It’s the way I’m DESPERATELY trying to play FFVII with an openness to Cloud and Aerith because I know it means so much to so many people—and yet even when I go to YouTube and watch alt versions of mandatory scenes I cannot fathom how people are missing the subtext of “Aerith knows and acknowledges Tifa is so much more than Cloud’s friend even as she wants his attention because she doesn’t know if he’s really himself, has been extremely lonely since Zack left + knows somewhere she’s going to die for herself” ☠️

Like I am 3000% for FF ships that have a lot of groundwork but aren’t primary canon, because Square is notorious for building true chemistry between people who are not ever canonically romantic (hello Phoenixflare) but…it’s getting kind of absurd to see how many people are denying the subtext of Aerith as secondary to Tifa solely because they love their ship.

Perfect example: the scene where Aerith goes up on the Nebelheim water tower (a place wholly and entirely tied to Cloud and Tifa’s ongoing relatonship) and asks Cloud about his town…only for us to get this:

As someone who just consumes media generally…the whole subtext of the scene is clearly that Aerith trying to 1) pull Cloud’s actual memories up from the mind muck he’s going through (something she and Tifa both do repeatedly) and 2) remind Cloud of the side of him that inherently has always had a whole ass crush on his childhood best friend to help jog his memory.

Sure, it reads as a cute moment between them if you want that…but if you’re paying attention to the purpose of the scene itself and what’s being said (verbally and subtextually)…it’s astronomically clear this is a Cloud x Tifa recognition delivered to the audience through a Cloud/Aerith moment…and this happens repeatedly ☠️

And then…immediately after having her be upset that she doesn’t have someone the way Cloud has Tifa, and asking to be alone? I…I just. Like it’s so hard to be here in the middle of a war about “optional scenes” when shit that happens to everyone happens just like this 😭
