Pull.
My first for the Phic Phight! 1,685 words.
Danny's been summoned. But not by who you'd expect. In fact, not by an actual person. Prompt by Greyheartwriter.
-----
Danny had been summoned before. Or rather, Phantom has. Usually by Sam, with Tucker occasionally tagging along. Typically when he was grounded. His two best friends always got a kick out of it. Grounded or not, they were going to hang out with their friend, especially when he insisted he should probably stay home “just in case”. He hadn’t gotten caught yet, but there have been a few close calls. Regardless, summoning Phantom was one of the rare moments the trio had to goof off and be regular teenagers. Well, regular enough anyway.
Danny sat with his elbows on the desk, hands gripping his hair in frustration. Falluca had assigned a large problem set to be done overnight. Like Danny didn’t have anything better to do - rest, catch ghosts, nap, hang with his friends, sleep. At 10:30 pm, he was almost done, he was just stuck on this one problem. He thought about calling Sam and asking for help, but he really wanted to try getting this on his own first.
He grabbed his pencil and tried writing out the problem for the 400th time when he felt the pull. “Oh no,” Danny muttered and looked around his room before trying extra hard to focus on his math homework and not the pull. It always failed, but he had been trying to train himself to ignore the pull. “Not. Now.”
Danny put his face closer to his paper and tried to focus, but the pull was getting stronger now. Ugh, why him? Why can’t people summon other ghosts? Well, that could get ugly and dangerous real fast, but come on! He was gonna kill Tucker and Sam. Or maybe…
Maybe his friends were struggling with the same problem as him and they wanted to put all their brain power together. But they could have just called. Regardless, he was still resisting the pull.
The pull was just a feeling of needing to be physically somewhere else. Or it started out that way, anyway. It was like holding your breath and forcing yourself to not hiccup again. You could try to deal with it absentmindedly, but usually it was all you could focus on until you were satisfied. And that’s where Danny was at now, the pull was beginning to consume all of his thoughts, it was beginning to cloud his brain of anything else. He gripped his desk as he felt another strong pull. Whoever was calling him had done it at least 3 times now. Again, Danny tried to focus on his paper.
Another pull, and Danny’s vision became cloudy. He felt anxious. He needed to be somewhere. What about math homework? That was supposed to be his top priority, they had a test on Friday. He gently started shaking as he tried to refrain.
He fell out of his chair at another pull, another call. Fuck it. He couldn’t hold on anymore.
He sighed, took a deep breath, and focused on the pull. He felt immediate relief as he answered. He felt the familiar feeling of following the call, like riding a waterslide or a rollercoaster in the dark. You had no idea where you were going, you couldn’t see anything in front of you. You didn’t know how long the ride would last and you had zero control. You were just being forced in a different direction, sometimes feeling the whiplash of the unexpected.
He could feel his core becoming colder. He felt his transformation into Phantom, and soon enough, the blackness was beginning to fade, and he tried to gather his surroundings. “Sam, Tucker, if it’s you I swear I’m gonna-”
Oh, OH. This was new. Danny didn’t even know that this was possible. He guessed it made sense though. Maybe Ouija boards were like cell phones in the Ghost Zone. Ghosts had to get a hold of each other somehow.
He turned his body as he slowly looked around. He didn’t know this part of the Ghost Zone. He didn’t even see any ghosts around. He started to panic. He didn’t know where he was, or who called him, or if anyone even actually called him at all. Was this some new stupid ghost power he had to learn to controll again? He just figured out how to keep his pants from falling down when he tried to flirt with girls. Not important right now, he reminded himself. He formed a small ectoball of energy in his hand, preparing himself for any attack.
But no attack came. Instead, he just felt a little nudge at his feet. Looking down, he sighed and dropped his ectoball. “Really?” He glanced down at his caller. “First of all, how did you even learn to do that?!”
Headbutting his ankle was the small green fluffball nicknamed Cujo, in his puppy form. To answer Danny’s question, he used his nose to nudge the planchette on the board, moving it around until Danny began to feel the pull again, though this time the pull wasn’t as strong because he was already in his destination.
Danny chuckled and scratched the pup’s ear. “What’s up buddy? I gotta finish my homework.”
Cujo barked and wagged his tail ferociously, sticking his butt up towards the air as he bounced around. Eventually, the dog dragged his squeaky toy towards the halfa and barked again.
“I can’t play! I have to finish my homework so I can try to get a few hours of sleep in a row tonight. Sorry dude, but no.”
The puppy’s excitement level deteriorated quickly. He let out a little whine, and gave Danny his best puppy dog eyes. Danny sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck. Cujo was adamant on playing, that much was clear. He called him 6 times already, what was going to stop the pooch from doing it again until he got what he wanted? Maybe just for a few minutes…
Cujo’s tail began wagging again as he could see Danny caving in. “Alright, alright. I needed a break anyways.” He formed another ectoball and threw it as hard as he could. “Go long, Cuj!” He smiled as the pup darted after the ball at lightning speed and stretched his muscles for the few seconds it took for Cujo to return with the ball. The pup barked excitedly.
Danny smiled, he always wanted a dog anyway. He threw the ball for Cujo for another few minutes, before playing tug of war and teasing the dog with the squeaky toy. “Who’s a good boy?” Danny said in a voice only reserved for Cujo and other animals (except for Sam’s pet snake...he couldn’t use his little baby voice on that thing, it was too weird). He rubbed the dog’s belly, laughing when Cujo’s back leg would twitch in response to the belly rubs.
The phantom yawned as he laid down on the ground next to the pup, using one hand to prop his head up and the other to scratch Cujo’s chin. “I’ll admit, you are making me feel more relaxed.”
Soon enough, Danny was snoozing with the little puppy curled up into his side, snoring softly. Though, the moment of peace didn’t last more than 15 minutes as Danny woke up to the feeling of being pulled again. He groaned, gave Cujo a little kiss on his head, and answered the new call.
Sure enough, he was in the middle of Sam’s room, falling to her rug as he was still too drowsy to make a better landing. He heard Tucker’s laugh and jolted up, shaking the remaining grogginess out of his head. Danny groaned, “what?!”
“Look who woke up on the wrong side of the...rug…” Tucker tried. Danny could feel Sam rolling her eyes as she offered him a hand so he could stand up.
Danny couldn’t help but let out a low growl, “Tucker…”
“We’ve been trying to call you for 25 minutes already! Guess you didn’t have your phone on you. Thank the goddesses for Ouija boards,” Sam stated as she straightened out her skirt.
“Why? What’s wrong? Is there a ghost?” Danny examined her room, making a face at the snake that he swore was glaring at him.
“School starts in 4 minutes, dude,” Tucker explained as he grabbed his backpack.
“You gotta fly us to your house to get your stuff then fly us to school, and maybe we won’t get detention this time,” Sam put her backpack on as well.
“Ah, fuck,” Danny quickly grabbed his friends’ arms and flew as quickly as he could to his room, grabbing his backpack and flying to school. His parents were already in the lab working on stuff, and Danny doubted they even noticed he was missing and almost late for school. A bomb could go off in the town and they would be so immersed in their work that they wouldn’t hear it. His overattentive sister, on the other hand, had apparently been trying to get a hold of him for an hour now, only stopping when Sam texted Jazz that they had Danny with them.
The trio landed in the bush as the first warning bell rang. Danny transformed and they ran into the school together, making it to their homeroom late, but for once luck was on their side as the teacher wasn’t paying attention...her car alarm mysteriously went off.
Danny pulled out his notebook and realized he still had to finish that math problem. Shit.
He turned as Sam tapped his shoulder, handing him her homework. He smiled gratefully.
“Don’t worry, Tucker had to copy mine too. That problem took me 5 hours to solve. You both owe me.”
Danny sighed in relief and nodded. He had 10 minutes to copy this down, and it was two pages long. It should be a crime to assign problems that long. He pulled out his pencil and started scribbling down the solution when he felt it.
Another pull. Damn that dog. No, he loved Cujo. Damn that Ouija board. “Remind me to find Cujo a puppy friend,” the halfa muttered to his friends.

Try Not To Fall In Love
Tumblr media
Summary: Being forced into marriage is never an exciting idea simply because you are getting married to someone not out of pure love. So when he was forced to marry a girl he doesn't know, he desperately gets help from his friend, hoping his friend could save him from the arranged marriage.
Theme: fake dating au, strangers to lovers
Genre: fluff, tinge of angst
Warnings: none
WC: 6.6k
Pairing: Bestfriend's Friend!Hoseok x Fem!Reader
a/n: Hello! I got this idea the other day while I was listening to a song by Keshi called Summer, where there was a line in the song which goes, "3 months is all we got, try not to fall in love" so I wrote this before I lost the feel of it ✌
Tumblr media
“Shoot, what am I gonna do? My parents are setting me up for marriage with this… I don’t know, this spoiled brat whose parents apparently owns the famous clothing brand in Korea. Ugh, I hate her! I don’t wanna be married to some spoiled girl who only thinks about herself.” Hoseok groans in frustration as he paces around Namjoon’s living room.
Hoseok’s parents were power and money hungry. They thrive to be rich but forgets that the safer alternative was to work hard for it instead of taking a short way out. Since Hoseok was an only son, they used him as a pawn by planning to marry him off to the daughter of the most wealthiest family in the country.
He despised this whole plan.
Namjoon could only frown as he didn’t know what to do for his friend.
“Can’t you like maybe, I don’t know? Tell your parents you’re not interested in her or something?” Namjoon asked.
“Yeah, unless you want me to waste my breath then yeah sure I’ll make that excuse to them. They’re going to make me marry her no matter what I say! Shit! I hate this!” Hoseok growled as he plopped on the couch and threw a pillow across the room, making Namjoon scold him for throwing a tantrum.
Hoseok mumbled an apology as the room fell quiet. Just then, it was as though something clicked in the back of Namjoon’s mind. He snapped his fingers and shot up from the couch instantly, shocking the poor boy.
“I know! How about you get a fake girlfriend? That way your parent’s can’t say anything right?” Namjoon exclaimed as if it was the most brilliant plan ever.
“What do you want me to do if they ask me to break up with this fake girlfriend? Joon, I’m telling you. My parents can be hella desperate, they'd do literally anything to make their plan work.” Hoseok sighed again.
“Look, if you get a fake girlfriend, treat her like a real girlfriend. That way, when they see how much you care and love each other, your parents won’t bother you with arranging a marriage for you ever again. There! Problem solved.” Namjoon shrugged, only for Hoseok to roll his eyes.
“Okay fine, sure. But the problem is, who am I gonna ask to help me with the plan? You know I don’t have any close female friends…” Hoseok frowned worriedly at his older friend before the male smirked.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got that covered.” Namjoon said with a satisfied smirk on his face.
Tumblr media
You were just typing away your codings for your assignment when a familiar figure stood in front of you on the other side of that wooden table. You glanced up and were immediately greeted by your best friend, Namjoon.
“What is it now, Namjoon? I already told you the group project is not discussable with members outside your group.” You sighed, earning a blabber from him.
“Yeah yeah whatever. Listen. I need you to do me a favour.” Namjoon began, rendering you curious.
“With what?” You asked.
“I need you to be a fake girlfriend for a few weeks.”
“What? Why do you need a fake girlfriend? Having girl trouble again?” You chuckled at your successful mock directed to him.
“Shut up. Anyways, not me. It’s for my friend.”
Your eyebrow was raised in confusion, staring at him with so much doubt.
“Yeah, I don’t know about that.” You said but he was quick to stop you.
“What? Why?”
“Namjoon, for one, I don’t know who your friend is. And two, this might be a little risky…”
“Why do you say that?”
“Most of the time when two people get into these fake relationships, they often end up being awkward and are close to opposite from what they hoped to turn out.”
“Y/N come on! Please! He’s really in need of help, his parents are forcing him to marry a girl he doesn’t even know and love. Just help him this once, will you? After all of this ends, I promise I’ll make it up to you.” Namjoon begged as you stared at him with worry in your eyes and he could clearly see it.
After much thought, you decided to help out simply because if you were in this person’s shoes, you would also dread the idea of being forced into marriage.
You just hope this plan turns out successful.
Tumblr media
It was a Saturday afternoon and Namjoon had texted you earlier saying to meet his friend for lunch to discuss how you want the plan to go. Namjoon gave you the address of the cafe and told you to find a guy with dirt blonde hair and black long sleeved shirt. You didn’t want to have a bad first impression for yourself so you opted to dress slightly nicer instead of your usual sweatpants and oversized sweater.
You chose a simple denim skinny jeans, fitted cropped top with a cardigan to go over. Once you made it to the cafe, your eyes skimmed over the entire interior of the cafe.
You noticed that the cafe was filled with people but out of pure luck, there was only one guy seated near the windows alone and was exactly as Namjoon described him to be. With that, you made your way to him, noticing the two cups on the table. You assumed he bought a drink for you to not get kicked out of the cafe.
He was handsome. You definitely never met him before. Which makes things slightly harder considering this means you would have a lot to learn about this guy if you had to pretend to be his girlfriend for the next few weeks.
Right when you were a foot away from the table, his eyes glanced up from his phone only to lock eyes with yours. For a moment, you saw the way his cute brown eyes sparkled.
“Hi, are you Hoseok?” You asked as he nodded.
“I assume you are Y/N?”
“In the flesh.” You joked, only for him to crack into a smile that seemed too adorable. You took a seat after he gestured for you to sit down. Both of you went silent for a split second before you spoke up.
“How long have you waited?”
“Not too long, I think close to about 10 minutes?”
“Oh, sorry. I got stuck in traffic for a bit.” You apologized knowing you were in fact late.
“No, it’s fine…” Hoseok smiled as his eyes glanced around your face for a second while you looked down at the cup to see that it was a Hazelnut Latte, your favourite.
“I bought Hazelnut Latte with almond milk for you. Not gonna lie, I had to get help from Namjoon on what you usually drink. Didn’t want to buy the wrong one on a first meet.” He said as he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. You giggled at his confession, finding it extremely endearing how he asked Namjoon what your favourite drink was.
“Anything is fine honestly, I’m not picky but I guess I can say this is the perfect pick.” You smiled when you saw the corner of his lips curled up sharply.
The two of you began chatting more comfortably with each other, getting to know the other in slight depth so that you would know what to say if someone questions you about the other. You later found out he was your age and that he owns a puppy named Mickey. He was a dancer and he likes to rap when he’s bored.
You also found out that he and Namjoon have been friends since high school. Which means he’s known Namjoon longer than you have.
A few minutes later, you both decided to lay out the plan for his fake girlfriend project. You went through the basic stuff, saying what you can or can’t do in public, all that kind of stuff.
After brainstorming and exchanging ideas or thoughts on the plan, you smiled before saying the one thing that both of you had to try to be mutual about.
“Whatever we do, let’s try not to fall in love with each other.”
Tumblr media
Your first few weeks of fake dating went well. Hoseok and you managed to act like a legit couple in public. He would drive you to campus every morning, hold hands as you walked around the campus grounds, sit with you during his free period, have lunch with you and Namjoon on days where your lunch schedules are in sync, walk you to your classes with his arm on your waist, basically everything a couple would do.
Of course, not to forget the little kisses he gives you after every walk, before every separation, in between chats, but those kisses were anywhere but your lips for you both agreed to avoid lip kisses.
Everything was going well so far and despite the little butterflies you sometimes get whenever he holds you or kisses you a certain way, you tried your best to remind yourself this was all temporary.
Besides, you were only doing this to practice so that when you do in fact go over to meet his parents, they would believe that you are dating their son.
Nobody would believe someone is dating if they saw an awkward couple who doesn’t know what to do around the other.
Right?
Tumblr media
It was a Tuesday afternoon and you were having lunch with Namjoon and Hoseok when the latter sighed deeply the minute he sat down beside you with his own tray of food.
“Hoseok? What’s wrong?” You asked as Namjoon eyed his friend worriedly.
“My mum’s inviting that girl’s family over this weekend to our family dinner. All my relatives are gonna be there…” He said hesitantly as he avoided your eyes. Hoseok was currently picking his food, not actually eating it.
So you gently placed your hand on top of his that was on the table, successfully gaining his attention when he turned to look at you.
“Hey, you’re gonna be fine. Don’t worry too much, okay?” You tried reassuring him but it looks like he was too stressed out about it.
“I know… It’s just… The last thing I wanna do is to humiliate myself in front of everyone, or even worse, humiliate you. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea. I shouldn’t have dragged you into this mess in the first place.” Hoseok said as he began to have second thoughts.
Before you could respond, he got up abruptly while slinging his bag strap over his shoulder.
“Sorry, I have to go.” He apologized as he began to walk away. You turned to Namjoon who looked just as confused as you were. Namjoon told you to go after him and that was exactly what you did.
Hoseok had just left the cafeteria hall and was making his way towards the Dance Studio building when you ran after him.
You grabbed his hand to stop him and once you were standing in front of him, you took in a breath to speak.
“Hoseok, listen to me. Everything’s gonna be fine. No one’s gonna humiliate anyone. Don’t stress out too much okay? It’ll be fine.” You tried to reassure him but it looks like he was still having doubts about it.
“Y/N, the plan was to bring you home with just my parents and that girl around, not my entire family. I don’t want you to get hurt if they say anything bad about you, about us… We really shouldn’t have done this, I’m sorry for bringing you into this.” Hoseok apologized again but you weren’t having any of it.
With that being said, you cupped his face and caressed his cheeks with your thumbs, not caring about the looks you got from the students that were currently passing by your two figures in the middle of the hallway.
“That’s not gonna happen… Okay? We’re going through this together. No matter what. We have to finish what we started. Besides, if there’s anyone during that gathering who I trust would keep me safe, it’s you.”
Your words hit him deeply and he couldn’t agree more. It has been 3 weeks since you started this whole fake dating thing. And if he were to be completely honest, the very last agreement you made right before all this started in which you said ‘try not to fall in love with each other’, this statement has been washed down the drain since the first week of your fake dating.
After the third day of practicing your fake relationship, he realized that you were an amazing person. You were so humble, kind, selfless, down-to-earth, basically everything a guy dreams of. Seeing how sweet you were with such a genuine heart, makes him go all fuzzy and warm for you.
It was only after the first week of that fake relationship that Hoseok realized, maybe he really was falling in love with you.
With that being said, Hoseok leaned into your hands as you watched his frown get replaced by a smile and soon, he wrapped his fingers around your wrist gently to say, “Okay… Let’s show them how love should really be.”
Tumblr media
Weekend finally rolled around and you were currently getting ready for Hoseok’s family dinner. You opted to wear a beautiful lavender laced sleeveless dress with a pretty round neck, where the hem of the dress stops just past your knees. You were going to pair it with your nude heels. You style your hair to a pretty low bun with your bangs framing your face in a middle parting.
You kept your makeup at a bare minimum since that was just your personal preference. You were just packing your important belongings into your purse when you heard the doorbell ring.
You abandoned your purse for a second as you jogged to your front door. Once you opened it, you nearly got your breath stolen by how handsome he looked.
He was wearing a white button down formal shirt, the first few buttons undone, his sleeves rolled up to his forearms, pairing that with a tie loosely hanging around his neck. He wore black jeans with the shirt tucked in, along with a pair of black loafers.
Not to mention his hair being styled in a way that his forehead is shown but at the same time, his fringe flops down with a slight volume so that it’s not too flat.
He looks really good.
“Hey gorgeous.” He smirked upon seeing your outfit.
You couldn’t stop the blush forming on your cheeks but you were quick to respond to him to avoid getting teased by him.
“Hey handsome. Give me a second to get my purse!” You said as you jogged back into your apartment, hearing his soft chuckle behind you. After you grabbed your purse, phone and house keys, you strapped your heels on and soon left the apartment. You made sure to lock your door before walking down the hall with him.
Both of you were talking about random topics when you felt him slide an arm around your waist. For some reason, this made you jump while your breath hitched in your throat a little too loud.
Hoseok chuckled at your reaction, clearly not expecting you to react that way especially since you were always relaxed when he does that out of the blue on campus.
“You okay? You seem jumpy…” Hoseok asked worriedly before his eyes searched for yours desperately.
“Uh, y-yeah… I’m just nervous I guess.” You laughed, earning a soft squeeze to your side before he kissed your temple gently like he always does.
“Don’t be. I promise nobody’s gonna hurt you… I won’t let that happen.” Hoseok’s voice gradually got lower until he whispered those last words to you. It made your heart flip and your stomach swirl from both anxiety and adrenaline.
The drive to his family home was about 40 minutes but you enjoyed the entire ride there. Hoseok made you laugh quite a few times, both of you singing along to the songs on his playlist, you played around with his things in his car, him glancing over at you every now and then only to smile every time he catches you doing something silly or was just laughing at something he said.
Gosh he was sickly in love with you.
Tumblr media
He finally managed to park in his parent’s driveway along with a few other cars that probably belonged to the other guests. You got out of his car, suddenly feeling nervous all over again. Hoseok noticed the way you were stuck in place beside his passenger car door, making him walk over to you.
“Hey, relax. We’re gonna be fine. You said that yourself didn’t you?” Hoseok smiles as he cups your face softly while he caresses your cheeks with his thumbs.
You slowly nodded up at him, watching as he plants a soft kiss to your forehead.
Of course this was all for the fake relationship at the end of the day, but was all of this gestures really fake though?
Both of you walked towards the front door with your left hand in his, fingers intertwined while your right hand wrapped itself around his left forearm to hold him close to you. Hoseok stopped in front of the door before turning to you and whispered, “Are you ready?”
“Ready if you are.” You gave him a weak smile and soon, he pushed the door open.
You made it inside without anyone greeting you at the door since it was in fact his house anyway. However, the minute you entered the living room, you instantly squeezed Hoseok’s hand lightly. Clearly overwhelmed by the number of people who were gathered there.
“Oh! Hoseok dear! You’re here!” One of the middle aged ladies said with a smile.
“Yes Aunt Ju, I’m here and I brought my girlfriend with me if you all don’t mind. I figured it’s a perfect time to introduce her to all my family.” Hoseok said proudly, making you feel slightly safe in his arms.
Just then, a voice sounded from behind you and it wasn’t exactly pleasant.
“How dare you bring an outsider to our family dinner! She’s not invited! And who said you’re dating this low life girl? You’re getting married to Lena!” Who you could only assume to be Hoseok’s mother, said in full disgust as she glares and looks at you from head to toe.
Hoseok’s body shook with rage as he frowned at his mother, ready to shoot her down with his words if he had to.
“You can’t tell me who I can and can’t be with, mom. Why should I marry someone who doesn’t mean a single thing to me when I can live happily with the girl of my dreams?”
“Nonsense! I am your mother so you have to listen to my decisions!” You were afraid of what might happen next so you tugged Hoseok’s hand a little to gain his attention. Luckily, he felt it so he glanced down at you for a second and the moment he locked eyes with you, he immediately softened.
He took a deep breath before turning back to his mother and smiled, “Yes, you are my mother. But I get to decide who I want to marry for it is my life and not yours.”
His mother’s face distorts into an offended scowl. She watched as her son brought you over to the rest of his family in the living room.
Upon sitting down, one of Hoseok’s cousin’s greeted you with a hug as she began talking to you.
“Hi dear! What’s your name?” She asked.
“Hi, I’m Y/N, you?”
“I’m Seori. It’s nice to meet you!”
“It’s nice to meet you too.” For the first time that night, you smiled genuinely as Seori warmed up to you pretty quick. Though from the corner of your eye, you could see a girl who hadn’t kept her gaze off you from the minute you entered the room.
For this reason alone, you could only guess that she was Lena, the girl who Hoseok was supposed to marry.
You were just chatting with Seori about Hoseok’s old habits when she suddenly leaned in to whisper something surprising to you.
“Honestly, I’m rooting for you instead of that rich girl. She’s such a brat. Hoseok is definitely too good for her.” Seori smiled, making you chuckle. You couldn’t believe Hoseok’s cousin was actually agreeing with you being her cousin’s partner even though she only just met you.
“Oh… Thanks… I guess?” You said awkwardly, earning a laugh from her.
“No really! She’s such a spoiled brat. I don’t understand why my aunt is dying for Hoseok to marry her. Blegh…” Seori faked a gag at the end.
Just then, your eyes travelled over to the other side of the room, only to find Lena shooting daggers into your skull. You got uncomfortable under her intense gaze which caused you to fidget in your seat. Unfortunately, Hoseok noticed this so he turned to you and whispered carefully.
“Are you okay? What’s wrong?”
“H-Huh? Oh, n-nothing. I’m fine.” You smiled at him as he frowned knowing you were lying but he decided to just trust you so he snuck a quick kiss to your cheek before smiling at you.
Why is your heart racing?
An hour went by, Hoseok kept you close to him at all times, making sure Lena or his mother never got too close to you.
You were just talking to Seori and Wooyoung, another one of Hoseok’s cousins when you excused yourself to go to the washroom. You made it down the hall and was about to enter the bathroom when you heard bickerings from one of the rooms.
As bad as you know it would be to eavesdrop, you got even curious when you recognized one of the voices to be Hoseok’s.
The closer you got, the clearer those voices were. However, your heart wasn’t ready for what you were about to hear.
“I want you to break up with that stupid girl and marry Lena!”
“No mom! What the hell? You can’t do this to me!”
“I’m your mother! And I demand you to leave that lowlife brat or else, I won’t take you as my son anymore! You choose. Outsider or Family.” His mom threatened him as she began to walk towards the door.
For some reason, you couldn’t seem to move. Your feet were glued to the ground as your eyes pooled with tears at the brim.
The moment his mother pulled the door open harshly, you flinched.
The tears on your eyes were now falling freely down your cheeks. You locked eyes with Hoseok for a brief moment before you looked back at his mother who had a satisfied wicked smile on her face.
“So, you heard right? Break up with my son if you love him and care about him still being a part of this family.”
Hoseok was frozen behind her as he watched you carefully for your next words. You two were supposed to be strong for each other. You were supposed to come out of this family dinner hand in hand with a proud smile on your face. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the outcome tonight.
So with one shaky breath, you locked eyes with his mother while your tears streamed down your face, giving her exactly what she wanted.
“Okay. I promise I’ll leave your son alone from now on. This will be the last time you see me in his life, if that’s what you want Ma’am.”
“Good. Now leave. You don’t belong here.”
With that, you gave her a weak smile before you turned in your heels and ran. Hoseok was going to run after you but his mother stopped him.
Your running figure caught everyone’s attention as Seori and Wooyoung called out to you desperately but all you did was run to the front door and left. A few seconds later, Hoseok was seen running down the hall and was about to go to the front door when Hoseok’s mother yelled his name.
He stopped in his tracks, only for her to threaten him again.
“Jung Hoseok! Don’t you dare go after that girl!”
“Why?! Why not mom?! Why can’t I go after the one girl that I love?! Tell me mom! Tell me!”
“You don’t love her…” She scoffed, trying to convince herself that her son isn’t capable of finding love on his own.
“What do you know about love mom? You call marrying someone I don’t know, someone I’ve never talked to, someone I’ve never met before, love? If that’s what you call love, then I don’t want to be a part of it. In all my life, I’ve never known what is the true meaning of love besides a family’s love. And now I know…” He paused to take a deep breath before he continued.
“Call me insane, but I am in love with her. I am madly in love with the girl who you just blatantly threatened to break up with me. It’s such a low move of you to threaten an innocent girl when all she did was love me.” Hoseok said as he turned and was about to leave when his mother threatened him again.
“If you step out of this house right now just to go after that brat, you are never to step foot in this house ever again.”
With that being said, Hoseok turned around and gave her a sad smile. He knew the decision he was going to make. He knew it would probably change his life forever. And yet, not a single ounce of regret was lingering in him when he said the next few words.
“And let the girl I truly love slip out of my hands for good? I’m sorry mom, but I don’t think so.” Hoseok said and with that, he left.
Hoseok’s father had to hold his wife back from slaughtering her son as Seori and Wooyoung cheered for their cousin while Lena was just fuming in her seat.
Tumblr media
Hoseok arrived at your apartment building, running up to your unit level only to pound his fist against your door. He waited a few seconds but all he got was silence. He tried a few more times and still no response. He panicked as he ran his fingers through his hair, trying to think of where else you could go.
Just then, it was as though something clicked in his brain that made him rush back to his car and soon drove off to the one possible place you could have gone to.
After a few more minutes on the road, Hoseok practically leaped out of his car and soon sprinted up the apartment steps not bothering to wait for the lift.
Once he was on level 4 where Namjoon’s apartment unit was, he gave it a few knocks.
It was currently 10:40pm so he knew damn well that Namjoon was still awake. Hoseok’s mind was currently running amuck as he tapped his foot impatiently against the ground.
Just then, the door opened to reveal Namjoon who looked worried for something, or perhaps someone.
“Joon ah! Please tell me she’s here…” Hoseok whispered desperately as his eyes pleaded for Namjoon to give him the answer he really wanted. Of course, Namjoon could never lie to his friend. Which is why Namjoon lets out a sigh of relief before smiling at the latter.
“She’s in my room.”
With that being said, Hoseok quickly kicked his shoes off only to walk towards Namjoon’s room carefully so as to not scare you.
Once he was standing in front of the door, he skipped the knocking and went straight ahead to open it.
The moment he did, his heart shattered upon seeing you sit on Namjoon’s bed with your knees up to your chest while you hugged them. You had your face buried in your arms as your soft cries echoed around the room.
Hoseok softly entered the room, closing the door behind him as he carefully made his way to you.
“Joonie… Why am I feeling this way? Why am I so sad? This is fake, isn’t it? All this is fake… So why does my heart hurt so bad?” You whispered in between sobs but still not looking up. You felt the mattress dip beside you which means someone had just climbed into bed with you.
Except, you just assumed it was Namjoon. Little did you know, you were wrong.
“Maybe because our feelings weren’t fake.”
His familiar gentle voice caught you off guard as you slowly brought your head up only to gasp when you locked eyes with Hoseok’s soft ones. He was smiling down at you, and yet, you could see how broken he was.
“H-Hoseok… W-Wha… What are you doing here?” Your voice was weak as you stuttered over your words.
“I left… I couldn’t let you leave.”
“N-No…” You croaked out. “N-No… No… What about your family? Hoseok, did you not hear what your mom said?”
With that being said, Hoseok gently cups your face with both hands as he shushes you to calm you down.
“Shh… Shh… It’s okay. I know what she said. But it doesn’t matter because what’s important is that we’re together.” He smiled as he kissed the tip of your nose, wiping your tears away with his thumbs.
“Hoseok…” Your voice was barely a whisper, earning a soft ‘shh’ from him yet again.
“I don’t care what she said. I don’t care what any of my family says. It's my life so I make my decisions. And right now, I’m so glad I left. That way I can show you just how much I truly care for you…” Hoseok paused as he slowly leaned closer to you until his lips were just an inch apart from yours, foreheads touching gently before he took one shaky breath and finally expressed his feelings for you wholeheartedly.
“I love you, Y/N.”
Your heart was pounding against your chest as you closed your eyes, afraid to look him in the eye. Finally, with one small breath, you whispered your reply for his little confession.
“I love you too, Hoseok.”
And just like that, Hoseok smiled as he caressed your cheeks before he kissed you on the lips.
Your heart almost jumps out of your chest as you slide your hands around his waist. He kissed you so sweetly, you nearly allowed yourself to fall on him. Hoseok pulls away with a soft sound, keeping one hand on your cheek while the other rests on your neck.
He kept his forehead gently against yours as his lips purposely brushed over your lips. You could hear his nervous breaths, only for him to whisper against your lips.
“Let me love you properly this time. You’re all that I want.”
With that, you couldn’t help but giggle feeling your heart full again. You loved him. You don’t know what you did to deserve him. Nevertheless, you promised to love him back equally.
Tumblr media
7 months had passed without any of you realizing. Hoseok has been staying with Namjoon ever since that unfortunate incident with his parents, more specifically his mother. Hoseok hasn’t talked to his parents ever since, simply fulfilling her request if he decided to leave the house that night.
You were in a stable relationship with Hoseok in which he has shown you more love than what he was capable of giving you previously when you were fake dating.
He showered you with so much love, it makes your heart melt every single time.
It was a gloomy Saturday afternoon. You went over to Namjoon’s place to hangout with him and your boyfriend. Upon your arrival, Hoseok seemed too excited as he quickly tackled you down onto the sofa whilst he tickled the life out of you.
You had to beg him to stop as you ended up panting for air. You were just cuddling with Hoseok on the couch while Namjoon sat on the huge bean bag chair at the corner while you all watched the movie.
You were just drawing random patterns onto Hoseok’s clothed chest, earning soft kisses at the top of your head when you heard the doorbell ring.
All of you glanced around at each other, only for Hoseok to ask his roommate if he ordered anything.
Upon Namjoon saying no, the male stood up and made his way to the door. You and Hoseok continued watching the show while Namjoon went to answer the door. A few seconds later, you heard Namjoon’s voice calling to Hoseok from the end of the hallway but for some reason, his voice sounded a little suspicious.
You definitely didn’t expect this.
“Uh, Seok ah, you might wanna pause the movie.” Namjoon warned as you both turned around. The minute you locked eyes with Hoseok’s parents, you immediately tensed up whilst he sat up straighter in an alert stance.
“Mom. Dad.” Hoseok whispered under his breath as the two of them smiled at their son.
You could feel the tension rising as Hoseok’s body became stiff. To avoid making things worse, you carefully got up and excused yourself.
Before you could leave, Hoseok grabbed your wrist as his eyes were begging for you to stay.
“You should talk to them.” You whispered as you looked at his parents and soon gave them a small nod before you and Namjoon left them to head to Namjoon’s bedroom.
You closed the door behind you and the minute you were inside, you couldn’t help but let out a shaky sigh. Pressing your back against the door, you slid down to the ground until you were seated on the floor. Namjoon frowned as he went over to you, pulling you into a warm hug as he caressed the back of your head comfortingly.
Meanwhile, Hoseok's parents took a seat on the same couch he was in except there was a huge gap between Hoseok and his mom.
“My dear son, how are you sweetheart?” His mom smiled sadly, knowing Hoseok probably still held a grudge on her.
“I’m fine…” Hoseok said coldly, unsure of how to react.
“How’s school? Everything okay?” His dad asked.
“Yeah. I’m coping okay. Nothing out of the ordinary for me as usual.” Hoseok shrugged as he looked everywhere but his parents. Just then, his mother was the first to apologize.
“I’m really sorry for the way I acted that night… I… I wasn’t thinking.”
Hoseok finally looked at his mom with a deep frown on his face.
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying that I shouldn’t have treated Y/N that way and that I shouldn’t have made those threats to you and her when I should be happy that you found love and that you were genuinely happy to be with her… I’m so sorry, dear.” His mother started to tear up as Hoseok’s heart immediately softened for her.
Of course he couldn’t hate her.
He could never hate his mother.
So when she began to cry, Hoseok scooted closer to hug her, rubbing her back soothingly to calm her down. His father simply smiled as he patted Hoseok’s back a few times for he wasn’t a man of affection. No doubt, he still loves his family dearly.
A few minutes later, Hoseok pulled away from his mother, only for the lady to sniffle and ask, “Can I see her? I want to see the girl who’s been making my son so happy.” She smiled as Hoseok nodded.
He soon got up, making his way to Namjoon’s bedroom. He gave it a few knocks before opening it, only to find Namjoon and you seated on his bed facing each other, placing a game of rock paper scissors. You were just laughing at Namjoon’s mistake when you heard the door creak open and soon, you met Hoseok’s soft eyes.
“Hey…” Hoseok said as he stepped inside briefly to walk to you and Namjoon.
“How’s everything?” Namjoon asked with a weak smile, only for Hoseok to speak up.
“We made up…”
“Oh? That’s amazing.” Namjoon sighed in relief but then Hoseok looked at you and placed a soft hand on your thigh.
“But now my mom wants to see you.” Immediately, your breath hitched in your throat.
What if she still hates you?
Hoseok could sense your worries so he squeezed your thigh softly and soon reassured you that if anything goes wrong, he’ll be there to protect you. With his words of affirmation, you both finally left the room with Namjoon flopping onto his bed.
You walked behind Hoseok while he laced his fingers with yours. The minute you came into the living room, you locked eyes with his mother and for some reason, her words from that night came haunting you back.
You unconsciously hid behind Hoseok and his mother saw this.
However, the frown on her face couldn’t easily be mistaken for anything else. She knew she would leave this effect on you, but maybe not to this extent. And for that, she feels bad.
Seeing how you wouldn’t budge from behind him, Hoseok gently tugs you forward while he whispers to you, “It’s okay… I’m here…”
This was enough to give you some moral support as you carefully sat down on the couch beside his mother.
“Hi dear, how are you?” She asked as you saw a brand new tear threatening to roll down her cheeks.
“I-I’m good, Ma’am.”
“Don’t worry sweetheart, I’m not here to yell at you… I’m here to say sorry. I know what I said to you that night wasn’t right. And I know that I can’t take back whatever I said. And I totally understand if you don’t forgive me. All I wanna say is thank you for making my son happy. I can see that he truly loves you. I’m sorry once again.” She smiled as the tear finally rolled down her cheek.
All the while, you were still holding Hoseok’s hand as he sat closely behind you but his fingers were laced with yours on your lap while his right hand gently caressed your sides to calm your nerves down.
For some reason, you could see the sincerity behind her apology. Which is why you reached for her hand afterwards and spoke up.
“I forgive you.”
His mother stared at you in shock, surprised that you forgave her despite all the things she said to you.
“You… really forgive me?”
“I understand that all you wanted was the best for your child. And I couldn’t blame you for that. But apart from that, I’m thankful that you finally approve of my relationship with your son. I love him so much but I dread to see him being torn apart from his family.” You said.
His mother couldn’t help but cry harder as you offered her a hug to which she openly accepted.
You rubbed her back to soothe her nerves only to hear her say, “Hoseok did an excellent job at choosing the right girl.”
You pulled away to find her smiling at you before glancing past your shoulder to look at her son with a look that Hoseok seemed to understand. His parents soon took their leave, while you went back to join Namjoon after saying goodbye to Hoseok’s parents.
Hoseok was just standing by the door to say bye to his parents when his mother cups his face and whispers, “Don’t lose her, no matter what people say. She’s a keeper.”
With that being said, she kissed his forehead and soon left.
Hoseok couldn’t agree more with his mother’s sentence, knowing that he would never let go of you that easily nor would he lose you because of other people’s words. He won’t ever let those things happen.
And that’s exactly what he’s going to do.

It was a warm, sunny afternoon, the sun high upon the sky, the air unusually filled with humidity. A dreadful combination, for sure. The street was mostly empty, the sight of another soul, rare during this time that the heat was at its fullest. Most people would be sensible enough to not go out at 103°F, but as much as he needed to be one of those people, Ethan was on borrowed time that day.
Being an intern at a hospital was probably the hardest - and let's be honest, shittiest- situation you could be in, right? The answer is a big fat no. At least that's what Ethan Ramsey, a doctor who at just his second year as an attending was at the top of his game and highly successful, would say. Why? Because someone has to deal with the interns and that brave soul has to deal with a lot. He speaks from experience.
Hence why this was the only moment he could slip in his schedule to take a break and get some decent coffee. His best friend Tobias, had suggested he go to the new place in the suburbs to get his caffeine fix. Of course, Ethan didn't believe him at first. A coffee shop in the suburbs? Sounds like one of Tobias' usual pranks. Still, his curiosity won and he drove all the way to the suburbs in search of the infamous coffee shop.
He would die before he admitted that Tobias was right, but that was some pretty good coffee. Content and somewhat more ready to go back, he began walking to his car. He could hear some barking in the distance, but that was to be expected. All those rich people around here sure would keep a dog or two. "Well maybe I should adopt the pup Thomas stole. I could use the company of someone not constantly talking" , he thought to himself as he unlocked the car.
Ethan quickly got in and immediately turned on the air conditioning. He sinked into his leather seat and closed his eyes for a minute, finding some relief from the unbearable heat. Suddenly he heard the door of the car open and close along with some very loud barking and he instinctively jumped in his seat, turning to look at the person who jumped in his car.
He didn't even get to utter a word before the woman turned to look at him with pleading eyes.
"Oh my God I'm so sorry for barging in but please please drive ! I'll explain everything I promise!"
Not even thinking about it, he started driving, while keeping an eye on the woman next to him, who was breathing heavily and looking out of the mirrors. It was then that he saw six big dogs running after his car and all that barking he had heard started making sense.
The dogs stopped following them after a few more minutes, their endurance making them seem understandably terrifying. Only then did she relax and take a deep breath.
"Thank you so much for this. I'm so sorry for jumping into your car.", she thanked him with a small smile.
"Uh… it's no problem. Glad I could help."
"I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Olivia Valentine, nice to meet you.", Olivia extended her hand towards him in a handshake.
Turning his eyes on her he briefly shook her hand. "Ethan Ramsey, it's…certainly interesting to meet you"
She laughed slightly at that, shaking her head and looking out of the window.
Ethan couldn't help but really notice how attractive she was. Her hair was gold blonde and tied back into a high ponytail, shaped in loose curls. Her eyes were big and green and her skin was spotless. Olivia wasn't wearing much makeup but what really stood out was her plump, bright red lips, perfectly contrasting with her fair skin. She was dressed in a simple, professional, dark blue , form-fitting dress with black high heels that accentuated her long legs. She was wearing a silver, elegant wrist watch and in her lap rested a black briefcase.
"Would it be okay if I asked what just happened to you, Miss Valentine?", the urge to solve mysteries whether it was regarding medicine or this beautiful woman, propelled him towards asking her this question. Besides she just came out of nowhere, I have a right I ask her. Right?
"Please call me Olivia."
"Only if you call me Ethan"
She grinned and nodded. "Deal"
"So, Ethan , I am a real estate agent. I had an appointment with a client to show him a villa that was for sale but I had been waiting outside the house for thirty minutes and he hadn't shown up. And of course, he didn't even call to let me know that he wouldn't come, instead of letting me roast in the sun. Anyways, I decided to leave and I walked a couple of blocks down the street in hopes of getting a cab. You can guess how well that went in this time and area, so I called a colleague to come pick me up. I was waiting for her to come, when two of these huge ass dogs escaped their homes, thinking I was an intruder just because I passed by and began coming closer, teeth bared and all. Since I am so lucky today, somehow more dogs gathered so I panicked and ran. They started chasing me… and then Olivia met Ethan", she finished her story with a dry chuckle.
Ethan was left speechless. His surprise must have been written all across his face because next thing he knew she was bursting into laughter.
"I'm-I'm sorry… it's just--that you should see your face", she said in between laughing.
"I mean. Wow. And all because of that jerk of a client."
"Definitely a jerk and not only because of that. He's a plastic surgeon and he's all about how successful he is or some shit. "I'm Dr. Thorne and I'm one of the leading plastic surgeons in Massachusetts." As if I give a damn. ", she rolled her eyes hard.
"Dr. Thorne you said? Ugh he's one of the worst of his kind"
"You know him?!"
"Yeah unfortunately. He works in Edenbrook, as do I. I'm a doctor."
"Ohh interesting! Let me guess. Internal medicine?"
"Actually… yes. How did you guess?", he turned to give her a surprised look.
"You previously said of his kind. I know enough about doctors that one working in internal medicine isn't particularly…fond of surgeons. Am I right?", she asked giddily.
Ethan chucked at that. "Yes, you are. Mostly at least"
"Nailed it."
Valentine. Where had he heard that name though…?
"You work in the big firm downtown don't you?" , he stated rather than asked after a moment of silence.
"I was wondering when you would figure it out Dr. Ramsey.", Olivia teased him, smirking.
"I am a diagnostician Ms. Valentine. I notice things. And your firm is difficult to miss"
"Technically not mine. My father owns the business."
"So it's safe to assume, your mother is the doctor?"
"Bravo, Doctor. Yes indeed. She works at Mass Kenmore."
"I see… So. Want me to give you a lift? We're already in the car and your work is on my way.", he raised an eyebrow expectantly.
"Sure! Thanks Ethan", she replied, grinning widely.
They spent the rest of the way comfortably talking to each other, both genuinely enjoying each other's company. For someone who was so talkative and gregarious, Ethan found himself interested in anything Olivia had to say. She was smart and confident, but in the most charming way possible. At last they reached the firm and Ethan pulled over.
Both turned to look at each other and started talking simultaneously
"Olivia--"
"I --"
"Ladies first.", he motioned for her to say what she wanted.
"Right. Thank you once again Ethan, both for the save and the ride. It was really nice to meet you.", her hand reached and squeezed his arm.
"You're very welcome, Olivia. I uh… wanted to ask…only if you want to of course… can I have your number?". He was quite visibly stuttering, but he tried to hide it behind a cough.
Olivia looked him in the eyes, clearly seeing through him and smiled. "Yeah, absolutely. Can I have yours too?"
He smiled back at her. "Yes of course"
They exchanged cards and after saying goodbye, Olivia got out of the car and walked back into the office. Just as she sat down at her desk she received a text message.
Ethan : Meet me this Saturday at 8, in "Gaston's Bistro"?
Olivia : I'll be there :)
Ethan : Perfect :D
She put her phone away and got down to work, smiling all the way, already excited for her date this weekend.

Setting Boundaries
Lately, I've been having trouble setting boundaries in my own life, so I felt inspired to write this where there is a happy ending and not just stifling tension in the house. I hope this helps someone in need. You can do it bb. We have to take care of ourselves :)
Lucifer x reader/mc
Fluff with angst. Happy ending
1997 words
Since moving into the House of Lamination and getting to know the brothers, it was obvious that Lucifer was the main caregiver in the house. His approach was more business than affectionate, but that’s okay; that’s where I come in. In the beginning, I would try to help Lucifer directly by helping him with his paperwork or running errands for him. I quickly realized that keeping his brothers out of trouble or solving the problem before it got to him helped him far more than organizing his filing cabinets.
The new chain of authority quickly became accepted within the House of Lamination. Mammon had me on speed dial, so my D.D.D. was constantly ringing off the hook. The other brothers were nice about it though. It gave them a chance to open up about more problems without worrying about the stress and reaction it would cause.
The House of Lamination, and in turn the RAD campus, changed overnight. The student council’s relationship had drastically improved, and anyone could see it. Other demons began to come to me with their problems. I made a drop box where anyone could write their problems or thoughts and submit them. Lucifer bequeathed me a bulletin board where I could answer some of the simpler questions, but I had a column in the school newspaper where I wrote about other, more complex problems. My peers began to say I was an angel with a demon’s perspective. The blessing, or curse, of being a human, I guess
***
Everything was working out for Lucifer. With your help, he had so much more time to complete his tasks but also give himself the basic care he needed. The house was clean. His brothers didn’t run to him with their every problem. School was becoming the campus Diavolo imagined it to be. What could go wrong? Well, a lot could go wrong actually. Very easily. He just had to keep his watchful eye and stop it before it went too far.
***
A few months into my new councilor position, I began to feel the effects of my work. The world around me was on the up and up, but I was so tired. I was so exhausted, physically and mentally. It took hours to come up with some of these responses, and I was so focused on other’s needs that I began to neglect my own. Usually I went home to my room to work on my responses in private, but today, for some reason, I decided to stay in the student council room. Other members came in and out working on their own projects, exchanging pleasantries, but eventually, all became quiet. It was just me and my melted down iced coffee.
I watched the condensation run down the side of my cup as I thought of a good way to respond to this problem. How does one properly discuss their boundaries with the ones they love? I had plenty of answers, but I couldn’t think of one that I had actually used.
“MC? You’re still here. We were looking all over for you.” Lucifer.
“Oh. Uh- sorry Lucifer. I guess I just got so caught up in writing that I lost track of time I guess.” He walked over and peered over my shoulder at the paper before me. We sat there in silence for a moment before he spoke.
“So, how would you solve that problem?”
How would I solve speaking about boundaries? That's a great question, Lucifer. I’ve only been thinking about that for the last two hours.
“I’m not sure. I always try to put myself in the demon’s shoes, but it just isn’t working this time. I have plenty of hypotheticals but nothing I can solidly say would help.”
He hums in reaction and walks around the table to take his seat. Across from me, his red eyes peer into mine. We stare at each other for moments before I look back down at my paper. I can still feel his eyes locked onto me. I can’t imagine what’s going through his head. Is he trying to solve the problem? Is he thinking about replacing me? Am I becoming another problem to him?
“What if I told you I submitted that problem?”
What. Lucifer...submitting a problem...to me? I didn’t think he’d have problems with the brothers occupied. Sure, I would have to drag Mammon into his office when the problem was bigger than I was, and sometimes I would give him some insight onto the student’s thoughts. But Lucifer didn’t have any real problems. He was the Morningstar. He can do basically anything that he wants.
“Well, um- I...I guess I would ask for more context since you’re here.”
“I only wrote that. How would you answer that?”
So...so...ugh.
“I guess I would try to go to a private place with them. Make sure it’s the right time to bring it up. I wouldn’t want them to already be in a bad mood or be taken by something else. I would try to be comfortable with them. Not come off as aggressive or manipulative. Oh idk.”
I sigh and place my head between my hands. “Usually I set boundaries in the moment. It’s just a ‘I didn’t like that and would appreciate it if you didn’t do that again,’ but this leaves so many possibilities.”
I carry on with my thoughts in my head before Lucifer interrupts. “Carry on with what you were saying before.”
“Well, I wouldn’t want to beat around the bush, but I wouldn’t want to be harsh. It’s a fine line to walk. Simple sentences. ‘I don’t appreciate this’ or ‘It makes me upset when you do this’ then I would follow it up with ‘I would be grateful if you were to refrain from that behavior’ or something similar. Just straight to the point but not pointing fingers at them. Don’t condemn them. Either they would agree or deny to change. If they agree, I would thank them for understanding and change the subject. If they deny, I would really set the boundary. I would tell them that I won’t be around someone who does that and would separate until they change or we meet a compromise or it could just be over. Sometimes it isn’t that easy. There’s more conversation where a compromise is made.”
“But what if they ask why?”
“I would explain. ‘I don’t like the way it makes me feel’ or ‘I don’t want to see you, someone else be hurt.’ Honesty is key. I wouldn’t see it as a defiance, but a way to understand you better.”
Lucifer reaches across the table and takes my hands. “It makes me upset when you exhaust yourself and neglect yourself because of your tasks. I would appreciate it if you let me take care of things again, so you can take care of yourself again.”
I shoot out of my seat, ripping my hands from his. “That is not an option, Lucifer. I’m helping and mending relationships; not only between humans and demons but demons and demons. I also can’t leave you to handle everything again. I set the boundary of me between you and the Devildom. I don’t appreciate it when you neglect your own problems for others!”
He sighs and pinches his brow. “Doll, I’ve done this for centuries now. You’ve given me a great vacation. The best one I’ve ever had, but it’s time for me to take back over now. I can’t let you run yourself into the ground and say I’m doing my job of watching over you.”
I press my hands into the table. “I will not let you handle everyone’s problems again. I refuse. I’m helping you by carrying some of the weight.” We sit in silence staring at each other before I speak again. “Is this because of your pride? I promise you that no one sees me as better than you. We’re not even in the same league. You do much greater things than I do. I’m just a post-it note therapist. I’m just a sounding board for my peers. You help run, not only a school, but an entire kingdom just because you’re friends with the crown prince. You deserve more, and you know i-”
“That’s enough!” He flew out of his seat and slammed his palms on the table. We were face to face; our breath running across the other’s face. “You will not carry on with your little crisis hotline if you’re going to neglect yourself.”
“I won’t give you an ounce of this weight back if you are going to neglect yourself.”
“I forbid it!”
“You might think you have some chokehold on me like you do your brothers, but you’re not stopping me from doing what I want. I’m solving problems; not causing them!”
“You are causing problems! Problems with me! You aren’t taking care of yourself!”
“Well you weren’t either when they were your problems!”
“I’m allowed to do that!”
“Like hell you are. I care too much to see you passed out in your office or turning to the bottle! As long as I can do something, I will!”
I could stare into his eyes to see the storm brewing within. He wants to say more, but his pride is holding him back. He wants it his way, but I won’t allow it. I can’t. What will he do? Will he run to Diavolo for some special permission to get me to stop? Will he tear down my board? Remove me from the school newspaper?
“I care about you too. More than I let on.” The energy in the room immediately shifts. No longer is it an argument; but a conversation. “Just as it hurt you to see me in pain, it hurts me. I cannot let you carry on this way”
My mind goes into autopilot. I take a step closer to him. My arms find their way around his torso. His circle me. I bring my head to his neck. We stand there for a few minutes, thinking of responses, enjoying the other’s care.
“So you know why I can’t give it all back to you?”
He gives me a squeeze. “Yes.”
I can’t help but chuckle. “Well, what a pickle we’re in.” He laughs.
As we stand there, clinging to each other, we think. We both know it can’t carry on like this. I breathe him in. My mind eases.
“You could find some of your other friends to help. Maybe give them some sample questions to solve or just someone to help you write.” I nod into his neck.
“I can still help with your brothers. Maybe we could learn from this and set some boundaries with them.” He nods. “That sounds wonderful.”
I pull myself back just enough to look up at his face. “I’ll give you my word to take care of myself. To step back when I need it, whether it’s me who decides or you, and vice versa with you.”
“I give you my word.” “And I give you mine.”
All tension is gone from the room. We smile at each other, relishing in the fact that neither of us will be hurting anymore. “May I kiss you?” “Yes.”
His lips fall down to mine. They’re soft against mine. They move with the same grace as he does, but they’re confident. He pulls me flush against his body. The kiss maybe lasted a minute or two, but I felt like it lasted a lifetime. We moved in complete agreement. Where he ended, I began. Where I ended, he began. It was like we became one heart.
I had to pull away to fill my lungs. “Well, it didn’t go like I said, but I hope I helped you with your problem.
Lucifer’s head fell back with laughter. Not a brief chuckle but real, full belly laughter. “I’d say it did. Thank you, doll.”
P.s. I fully believe Satan heard the argument and seeing MC coming out the student council room and he was fully like "how did they not die?"

I'm not sure if this was what you were hoping for when you send me these prompts, but I rather had fun writing it so I hope you enjoy, Anon!
----
If Andrew was being completely honest, he really didn't mind his job. Sure, it wasn't all that impressive, but it also wasn't like he had someone around that he wanted to impress. It was easy, too, and no one bothered him. Well, no one bothered him because he had third shift, and the only people grocery shopping at three-am were literal vampires; and in a tiny town like Palmetto, there were really only a handful of those, none of which would ever have any reason to bother the short, scowly human stocking shelves over in the candy aisle.
Which was exactly what Andrew was doing when he heard the crash over in the refrigerated section.
Shifting the headphones off one ear, Andrew tilted his head and listened. There were a few more minor crashes, then a bumbling, scrabbling sound of things being kicked and jostled around. No screaming, though, so Andrew reaffixed the cup over his ear and got back to what he was doing.
"Cleanup by the refrigerators. Cleanup by the refrigerators."
Andrew lips moved soundlessly to Fall Out Boy, willfully ignoring the fact that refrigerators was in his section of the store and thus his responsibility should there be a call made to it.
"Cleanup by the refrigerators. Cleanup by the refrigerators."
Andrew juggled three snickers bars to the beat, tossing them onto the shelf just as the guitar solo started.
"Cleanup by the refrigerators. Cleanup -- Goddamnit Minyard get your ass over to refrigerators and clean the mess up."
Welp, he tried. With a heavy sigh, Andrew dropped the candy in his hands back into the box he'd been unloading, then gave two middle-fingers to the nearest camera.
The gruff voice over the intercom said, "Don't be a cheeky bastard, you little ingrate. Just do your damn job."
"Yeah, yeah," Andrew muttered to himself, rolling his eyes as he turned to head down the aisle. From all those crashes it was sure to be an epic mess. Maybe he wasn't as okay with this job as he thought he was.
Whatever Andrew thought he was expecting to see when he rounded the corner, it was not what he actually saw.
Because there, sitting in the middle of fallen displays and drenched in both blood and pink lemonade with an unconscious (dead?) human sprawled across his lap, was an annoyingly pretty disaster of a vampire.
Andrew stared at the tableau for a long moment, the tugged his headphones down around his neck and moved forward, surveying more of the damage as he got closer. Two of the displays near the fridges had been completely toppled, sending s'mores supplies and snack cakes as far out as lunchmeat on one side and paper goods on the other. There wasn't as much liquid on the floor as Andrew suspected there might be, the blood confined only to the vampire's actual person and only a small pool of pink lemonade leaking out of the nearest container. Upon closer inspection, the human appeared mostly unharmed and definitely alive, as he was breathing. He didn't have a drop of blood on him.
The vampire flashed fang as he gave a weak sort of smile. "I know this looks bad, but I swear, it's not."
"Uh-huh. Right." Andrew crouched down and picked up the carton of pink lemonade. It wasn't even opened properly. There were punctures in the side exactly the right size and distance to have been caused by pretty-vamp's fangs.
Andrew turned the carton to show the leaky punctures to the guilty vampire.
"I was thirsty?"
"Mm. What about the snack draped over your lap?" Andrew gestured at the guy, who was, admittedly, definitely a snack. He was significantly bigger than either himself or the vampire, with black hair and a small tattoo of a chess piece on the crest of one cheek.
The vampire did not seem to share Andrew's opinion. His pretty face screwed up in distaste, those damn-near cerulean eyes flashing with ire. "Ugh. No way. I only drink from Kevin when I'm on my deathbed."
"Is that your way of telling me that he's your boyfriend and you nip him every night, then?"
"What? No?" The blatant confusion on the vampires face had Andrew sighing. The vampire shook his head. "Look, I'm sorry about the lemonade. I was going to pay for it, but it couldn't wait." The skepticism must have been visible enough on Andrew's face for even this idiot to be able to read it because the vampire sighed and continued after just a short judgmental pause.
"I don't drink human blood. That brand of lemonade in addition to regular food can keep me going for weeks at a time without me having to go after animals either."
A vegan vampire, now Andrew had seen everything.
"Right, so why is your boyfriend passed out?"
"Not my boyfriend. The dumbass decided to go out while sick with moon-fatigue. He fainted."
Moon fatigue? Andrew looked back down at the man in the vampire's lap. That meant that 'Kevin' wasn't a human at all, but a were-something.
Instead of commenting on this, Andrew refocused on the vampire's face and said, "You sure you aren't dating?" Because it seemed pretty fated, a dumbass vampire who starves himself to the point where he has to raid the local grocery store for magical lemonade, hooking up with a dumbass were-somethingorother that resisted the change to the point where he got sick and then went out like that, thus necessitating the aforementioned situation where stupid starved vampire has to come rescue him. Speaking of... Andrew took another look at the carton in his hand and memorized the brand. There was no way he was ingesting anything that was able to keep a vampire off his bloodlust for weeks on end.
"Very," the vampire confirmed. Then he sighed and looked down at his friend for a moment before smacking him sharply enough that the sound even got a little echo. "Wake up, asshole!"
Kevin jolted awake with a lurch, then moaned and covered his face his hands. "The liiiiiights, they're so briiiiiight. Neiiiiiiiiiil where aaaaaare weeeeee?"
The vampire - Neil - rolled his eyes and gestured to the man in his lap. "See what I have to deal with?" He shook his head and shoved Kevin off his lap before standing. He was a little shaky as he rose, but managed to keep his feet. "Get up Kev. Thanks to you there's a huge ass fucking mess and if we ever want to come back again we're gonna have to help clean it up."
"Nooooooo."
"Yeeeeeees."
Kevin peaked his eye open, saw Andrew, and pointed. "Make him do it. Its basically his job!"
"I don't work here," Andrew said immediately, despite the violently orange vest he was wearing that sported both a name-tag and the logo for Palmetto Grocery.
Then a truly awful thing happened: Neil grinned at him. It was like the goddamn moon rising over an enchanted fucking lake, is what it was. Those blue eyes shined and his whole face softened. Two perfect dimples winked at him, his fangs flashing in a way that was both really sexy and kinda... cute. Even with the blood-spatter on his face the man was downright captivating.
Kevin woozily stumbling to his feet snapped Andrew out of his momentary stupor. The were looked from Neil to Andrew and sighed, shaking his head. "Tiny assholes. I am surrounded by tiny assholes." Then he turned and began to shuffle around, picking up boxes of Twinkies and stacking them in one arm.
Andrew turned back to Neil. "So if all you are here for is lemonade, why are you covered in blood?" It distantly occurred to Andrew that this probably should have been the first question he asked.
Neil shrugged. "Had to kill someone when I picked up Kevin."
Ah, well, that was that then. Andrew nodded his understanding and the two of them joined Kevin dealing with the mess. It was after Andrew had righted the display fixtures and Neil had started stacking all the boxes on them upside down that Neil looked over at him and asked, "Do you usually work nights?"
Andrew paused, blinked, and looked over at him. "Why?"
"Just curious. Kev and I are new to town."
"I am not a tour guide."
Ugh, no there it was again - that grin. This time accompanied by a short, bright laugh.
"Understood." Neil placed the last box on the top of the fixture, somehow getting it to balance on a single corner. Satisfied, he then looked back at Andrew, still fucking smiling. "I guess I'll see you around, then."
"You confuse me," Andrew said, almost without meaning to.
Another fang-flashing grin. "I'm a bit of a puzzle."
Andrew studied him for a moment, considering. He wondered if the idiot vampire even realized he was flirting with him. It sure seemed intentional - but he hesitated to give the dumbass that much credit.
"I guess I will just have to solve you then," Andrew finally said.
"Guess so." Neil then had the audacity to wink, and Andrew's ears turned pink. Intentional then, definitely intentional.
Luckily, Neil had turned to collect his friend, so probably didn't see his traitorous ears. The vampire looked back at him one more time, just long enough to raise a hand in farewell, before leading Kevin away from the refrigerators. Andrew tracked him with his eyes until they turned the corner, and were gone.
Well, if nothing else - Palmetto sure as fuck got a hell of a lot more interesting.

HeliosR - Faith Beams Card story “In the end, bad guys get….”
Tumblr media
Translation of Faith Beams’ 4* “Sweet Chocolate Spell” card story from ‘Helios Rising Heroes’.
Faith: Ah, getting called again…. Whatta pain….
Faith: Fuuh, how exhausting….
Faith: ……….
Faith: Even if I block it doesn’t stop, maybe I’ll turn my phone off again for a while--
Keith: Oh, if it ain’t Faith. Lazing around?
Faith: Lazing around… Is that something you say to someone right when you see them?
Faith: ….Well, can’t say that I wasn’t
Keith: Knew I was right. Ya can’t just go waltzing around all willy nilly outside with the way you are now
Faith: If you like, know what’s up then don’t bother m---
???: Big trouble-nano~~~~~!!!
Keith & Faith: ?
Tumblr media
Jacqueline: Big, big BIG trouble-nano~~~~~!!!
Keith: Jacqueline? O-oi the hell’s up… No need to be running around…
Faith: What’s the big trouble?
Jacqueline: Faith-chama!
Faith: Eh
Jacqueline: Sit down there-nano!
Faith: W-what? What do you---
Lily: Wait, Jacqueline. Don’t rush into things on your own.
Keith: Oah, Lilly too. …The hell’s all this ruckus for?
Lily: ...There’s actually a bit of a problem at the entrance right now.
Lily: Exactly as I was going down with the elevator…. Occasionally I run into Jacqueline there and we go together.
Jacqueline: Jacqueline was on my way to go take a walk
Lily: And as the elevator doors opened once we reached the entrance floor, a tremendous scene was to be seen.
Keith: T-tremendous scene….?
Lily: Dozens of young girls were crowding in front of the tower, and the staff were holding onto their dear life while fending them off. As if it was a spectacle in a zombie movie...
Jacqueline: Jacqueline hates zombie movies-nano・・・
Lily: And then I heard it. How these young girls were gathered together, screaming “Let us see Faith Beams!”
Faith: …..!
Lily: I sensed that I had to confront the person in question himself for things to settle down.
Jacqueline: The culprit-nano!
Keith: Faith… What did ya do this time around?
Faith: N-nothing really….
Lily: Everyone was holding up their smartphone to show it too…. If I’m not mistaken, this all happened because you didn’t live up to the promises you made, and ignored their calls, or am I wrong?
Faith: Ugh…. how did you know?
Faith: I can’t go out to meet them with how things are right now
Faith: Even so I still got calls and messages non-stop, which made getting in touch with them personally such a pain in the ass… I just left it be….
Lily: Haah, as I suspected….
Lily: I had a hunch that’s how it went. It’s obvious that horrifying sight is not a gathering of mere fans.
Jacqueline: Faith-chama, who are these girls-nano?
Faith: Eh, um… girlfriends…?
Jacqueline: ・・・Girlfriends?
Jacqueline: But, there’s so many of them・・・
Keith: Eveeeryone’s his girlfriend~ Right, Faith?
Faith: Keith…...
Keith: Oops, sorry sorry. It’s just funny-… I mean, it slipped out without thinking…..
Faith: ……..
Jacqueline: Eveeeryone’s his girlfriend・・・? But isn’t a girlfriend the person you love the most in the world? Is everyone that for you?
Faith: Aah-... Um…..
Lily: Adulterous men ought to be exterminated from this entire world.
Faith: !?
Lily: That is what I personally believe in. But since it came out without a second thought… I’ll make it clear right now.
Lily: Whether you have one girlfriend or a dozen of them, your actions right now were in poor taste.
Lily: ...Think it’s a bother? Don’t make me laugh. It’s your fault for creating a situation like this in the first place.
Lily: If you cannot meet them then you can’t, however, you’ll have to explain to all of them what the situation is like right now. In a sincere way.
Faith: Gh……
Keith: Puh...huhuhu… Nice one, tell him some more, Lily
Lily: Keith, this isn’t the time for you to be laughing about it either.
Keith: What!?
Lily: You’re also the type to whine about ‘how it’s a bother’, you know. If anything, you’re no different than him.
Lily: If you’re dealing with a girlfriend or not…. Actually the gender of the other doesn’t even matter in the first place. Both of you need to be more honest towards people in general.
Jacqueline: Yes-nano! Being honest is important-nano!
Keith: Gweeh~~~........
Keith: But, Lily. Don’tcha often go on about how “Girls are cute so I’ll forgive them” or something----
Lily: Shut it, Keith.
Keith: Sorry Ma'am.
Faith: Haah…..
Faith: Feel like I got thoroughly beaten up without anything being held back but… Well, even if I didn’t mean to cause trouble I did do something bad.
Faith: And also think that the way I did things wasn’t good either…..
Faith: I’ll go convince these girlfriends that are waiting downstairs to go back home today.
Keith: ...Good luck out there. I’ll come and pick up your bones if it took a turn for the worse.
Faith: …….
Lily: Hold on
Lily: If you go right now, it will only be adding fuel to the fire. I cannot let you go knowing that there’ll be even more chaos.
Lily: I’ve only come here to confirm the situation with you to begin with. I will be handling it myself.
Faith: Eh… really?
Lily: But on the other hand. Promise me that you will be putting an effort into living a sincere life, even if it’s little by little.
Faith: G-got it. I will… take various measures to avoid this from happening again.
Lily: I’d like to see it. ….Now then, let’s go Jacqueline. Keith too.
Keith: EH? Me!?
Lily: You’re his mentor aren’t you. Take responsibility and become a sandbag for these girls.
Keith: Y-you’re kidding me!?
Faith: …….. And they went off….
Jacqueline: Faith-chama, Faith-chama
Jacqueline: Eventually, it’s good guys who get chosen over bad guys in the end -nano・・・
Faith: ……..
----
Keith: Curse that Lily….
Keith: While going about being honest to everyone~ and whatever. It was damn obvious I was the only one getting the short end of the stick. This is damned oppression!
Faith: Keith, welcome back. ….How did it go?
Keith: Aah. Things got put straight pretty smoothly. Finished things up without becoming a sandbag either
Faith: Is that so?
Keith: Just as you’d expect….. well not always but, once Lily started explaining everyone got quiet immediately.
Keith: Then aaaall your girlfriends jumped ship to Lily’s side.
Faith: Eh?
Keith: They all became fans of Lily, saying they’ll stop being your girlfriends…. like “I’ll devote myself to Lily-sama for the rest of my life!” and all that, and happily went home
Keith: Thinking of it, when she was active she had more female fans than you did, y’know. Can tell ya that I remember girls squealing wherever she went
Faith: Amazing…..
Keith: Well with all of this, it’s solved for now. Make sure to properly say thanks later~
Faith: Y-yeah…. I will…..
Faith: ……… Aha, guess I gotta try to do what I can from now on…..

prompt: Mulder and Scully being competitive with each other over silly things - Jeopardy? solving the case before the end of an episode of some sort of forensic crime show? how many slices of pizza they can eat? a board game? etc.
Loved this one, Anon, thank you so much.  And I was in the mood to whip up something humorous.  Went to sleep last night thinking about it.
Half and Half
by: mldrgrl Rating: PG
“I’m dying to get out of this suit,” Scully says.  “Give me ten minutes and then we can go through the report?”
“I’ll leave the connecting door unlocked,” Mulder says as they exit their rental car and head to the doors to their rooms.  “Come over when you’re done and we’ll order in.”
She sighs in relief as she kicks off her heels at the door.  She tosses her blazer to the side, unbuttons her shirt, and loosens her skirt.  She clips her hair back, washes her face, and changes into a pair of sweats and a t-shirt.
File folders under her arm, she taps lightly on the connecting door before she pushes it open.  Mulder is sitting at the edge of the bed, tie off and buttons undone at the neck.  His shirtsleeves are rolled up and he’s yelling at the TV.
“What is Mork & Mindy!” he yells.  “Mork and Mindy, you idiots.  Everyone knows ‘nanu nanu.’”
“We were looking for, ‘What is Mork & Mindy?’” Alex Trebeck says.
“Obviously,” Mulder says.  “How did you people even get on the show?”
“What are you doing?” Scully asks.
“Playing Jeopardy.”
“TV Catchphrases for $400, Alex.”
“Book ‘em, Danno.”
“What is Hawaii 5-0,” Mulder yells, just as Scully says, “Hawaii 5-0.”
Mulder makes the sound of a buzzer.  “You have to answer in the form of a question, Scully, or it doesn’t count.”
“I still knew the answer.”
“You mean, the question.”
“Do you want to debate the semantics of Jeopardy or go over the reports?”
“Sure, sure.”
“Let’s try Shakespeare Who Said it? for $200.”
“Double double, toil and trouble.”
“Who are the witches?” Mulder answers.
“Who are the three witches of Macbeth,” Scully says at the same time.
“Who is Macbeth?” answers the first contestant to ring in.
“Oh, come on,” Scully says.  “You can’t be that dumb.”
“Right?”
“Not quite what we’re looking for,” Alex answers.  Finally, the second contestant answers correctly.
“Shakespeare Who Said It for $300.”
“I prithee daughter do not make me mad.”
“Baptista, maybe,” Mulder answers.  “Who is Baptista?”
“No, who is King Lear?” Scully disagrees.
“Who is King Lear?”
“Who is, King Lear.  Act 2, scene 4, referring to Goneril.  And that will lead us to our first commercial break.  More to come after these words from our sponsors.”
“I should’ve known that one,” Mulder says, scooting over to make room for Scully on the bed.  “$600 to $500, I’m winning.”
“How do you figure that?”
“You lost Hawaii 5-0 to incorrect phrasing.”
“You didn’t establish the rules.  $600 to $900, I’m winning.”
“I didn’t have to establish anything, those are the inherent rules of Jeopardy.  Everybody knows that.”
“Mulder, I’m here to go over these reports,” Scully answers, holding up the file folders that have been tucked under her arm the whole time.  She is still standing.
“How about a little wager?”
“On what?”
“Winner orders the pizza of their choice, loser pays.”
“Come on, Mulder.”
“You don’t think you can beat me?”
“No, I know I can beat you.  I just want to get this review done so I can go to bed.”
“Scully, it’s 7 o’clock.  The review can wait.  Unless you’re just chicken.”
“Very mature.”
“Triple dog dare you?”
Scully held her hand out as though to shake Mulder’s.  “We start with a clean slate going in from the commercial and we make our own wagers on Double Jeopardy questions.”
“I’ll keep score!”  Mulder leaves Scully’s handshake hanging in the breeze and jumps up to grab the complimentary pad of paper and pen on the motel desk, which she snatches from him as soon as he comes back to sit down.
“I’ll keep score,” she says.
“You are the math geek.”
They sit through contestant bios and Alex Trebek’s vaguely sarcastic comments on the tidbits they’ve chosen to share with the audience.  When the game starts back up again, there are two answers left in Shakespeare Who Said It? and every answer available in Civil War Nicknames, The Old West, and American Folklore.
Unsurprisingly, Mulder dominates the folklore category, but they tie for two answers.  They both struggle with The Old West more than Civil War Nicknames, but the answers there are easier to decipher within the clues.  Mulder is up $700 when the first Daily Double comes up in The Old West.
“$200,” Scully says.  “I already don’t even want to know the answer.”
“$500,” Mulder answers.
“Suffering from tuberculosis and alcoholism, this dentist turned gunslinger died in a sanitarium at the age of 36.”
“Who is Doc Holliday,” Scully answers.
“Who is Bat Master..dammit!” Mulder replies just a beat behind her.
“You should’ve known that one.”
“It was the first thing that popped into my head.  What’s the damage?”
“We’re tied.”
“All right, next round, it’s getting serious.”
“Prepare to pay for a large vegetarian with extra olives.”
“Ugh, vegetables on pizza is the antithesis to the point of pizza.”
“And what is the point of pizza?”
“All the pepperoni you can handle and then add in some sausage for good measure.”
“You’re a heart attack waiting to happen, Mulder.  When was the last time you had your cholesterol checked?”
“In May, actually.  Fit as a fiddle.  Here we go, round 2.”
“...categories are: Before & After, Science, Word Origins, Potpourri, The Body Human, and finally, Astronomy. ”
The contestants seem fixated on Potpourri and Before & After, to Mulder’s relief.  He isn’t ready for Scully to completely smoke him in the Science and The Body Human categories.  He figures if he can do well enough in the first two, he might be able to hold firm and maybe they might get to Astronomy where he can make a comeback.  Sure enough, she responds so quickly in the first two Science answers he can’t even get a word out.
“Born this year, a sheep named this introduced the world to cloning.”
“Dolly!” Mulder yells, too excited about knowing a Science question he forgets to phrase it properly.
“Who is Dolly,” Scully corrects.
“Dammit!”
“Your rules.”
“I know, I know.  Still, dammit.”
Blessedly, the contestants leave Science and migrate to Astronomy and since the first answer is the planet nicknamed The Red Planet, a Jeopardy equivalent of low-hanging fruit, they stick with it.  The first Daily Double of the 2nd round hits them at the $800 question in Astronomy.
“I’m up by $1,600,” Scully says.  “You have $3,900.”
“I’m going to make it a true Daily Double.”
“Seriously?”
“Yes.”
“$600,” Scully says, after a few moments hesitation.
Mulder worries his bottom lip with his teeth and waits for the answer to come.
“This spiral galaxy is named for an Ethiopian princess in Greek Mythology.”
“What is Andromeda!” They both yell.
Mulder realizes he’s sweating after the last question and even though it paid off, he vows not to make that kind of gamble again.  Scully berates herself for not being more confident in her astronomy knowledge as she now trails Mulder by $1,700, which may or may not be easy to recover from.
Time runs out before all the clues are revealed and the 2nd Daily Double is never found.  By final Jeopardy, they’re nearly neck and neck, with Mulder at $9,100 and Scully at $8,500.
“The final category is: Computers.”
“Good thing The Gunmen aren’t here,” Mulder says.  “Gimme one of those sheets of paper and we can write our wagers and guesses like the others.”
Scully rips off a piece of paper and they both take nearly all of the commercial break to come up with their wagers.  Scully folds her paper in half with the wager face down.  Mulder turns his over and places it on the bed.
“And here we go with the final answer.  Born in 1815, this daughter of a famous poet published an algorithm for a mechanical calculator and is believed by some to be the first ever computer programmer.”
Mulder writes his answer immediately and Scully taps her pen against her teeth as the final Jeopardy music winds down.  She finally picks up her paper and memorializes her guess before the final note.
“Whatcha got?” Mulder asks.
“I want to see their answers first,” Scully replies.
Mulder bounces his knee in anticipation.  The contestant in 3rd place answers incorrectly with Dora Wordsworth, but only wagered $1.
“I hate when they do that,” Scully says.  “It’s not The Price is Right.”
“Listen, if the category was Nuclear Physics, I might only be waging $1 as well.”
“Too bad it wasn’t.”
The contestant in 2nd place also answers incorrectly with “Who is ____?” and ends up with $4500.  Mulder shakes his head.
“At least put something,” he says.
“Seriously,” Scully agrees.
“And now Judith, our three day champion, currently in the lead with $13,800.  What did she guess?  Who is Ada Lovelace?  Daughter of Lord Byron, known for her work on Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine, August Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, or Ada Lovelace.  And how much did Judith wager?  $7,000, bringing her three day total to $65,941.”
“Alright, Scully, moment of truth.”
“Count of three?” she asks.
“Is that one, two, reveal?  Or one, two, three, reveal?”
“One, two, reveal.”
“Okay.  One, two…”
They both turn their papers around.  Both answered Who is Ada Lovelace?  They both grin.
“Frohike would be so tickled with your familiarity with the mother of computer programming,” Mulder says.
“Yeah?  How does he feel about your familiarity with her?”
“Pretty jealous, actually.”
“What was your wager?”
Mulder turns over the paper again to show her.  “$3,000.  You?”
Scully bites her lip a little and then flips the fold of her paper for Mulder to see.  “$8,000.”
“$8,000!”
“Go big or go home, right?”
“Damn, Scully.  You’re a monster.  In a good way, obviously.  But, damn.  So, I guess that vegetarian is on me.”
“Extra olives.”
“With extra olives.”  He grimaces and gets up to grab the Yellow Pages in the nightstand.
Scully opens up her file folders and begins sorting the reports for review across the end of Mulder’s bed as he searches for a pizza parlor.  He’s on the phone fairly quickly after browsing the phone book.
“Yes, I’d like to place an order for delivery,” Mulder says.  “A large.  Vegetarian.”
“Half vegetarian,” Scully interrupts without looking up.  “Half pepperoni and sausage.”
“Sorry, half vegetarian, half pepperoni and sausage.  Extra olives on the vegetarian side, please.  Yeah, I’ll hold.”  Mulder drops the phone to his shoulder while hold music plays and smiles slightly.  “Scully, you interested in a rematch tomorrow night?”
“Depends on how interested you are in buying another pizza.”

Mabel never thought the day would come when Grunkle Ford would ask her to go down to Earth. Sure, she was allowed to go visit as long as she was hidden and back at Olympus at a certain time, but she never thought she would be standing before her father-figure and be asked to specifically go down to Earth, but here she was.
“I… I want you to check on Stanley.” Grunkle Ford asked solemnly. “And Mason, too, for that matter. See if they’re alright.”
“Um… okay.” Mabel was a bit unsure if she dared believe his instructions. “You want me to go down there and pay them a visit?”
“No.” Grunkle Ford said. “I’m sorry, but no. I want to project yourself onto the art of Thebes and see if they’re alright. Bill says Stanley isn’t… with him, but he is very busy thanks to a small war in the Middle East. Do not make yourself known, simply see if they’re both okay.”
Mabel smiled slyly at him. “You want me to spy on our mortal family members?”
Grunkle Ford sighed and nodded. “Yes.”
“YES!” Mabel cheered and punched the air. “Finally, a chance to use my sneaky peaky spy skills!” And she ran out of the temple, tripping and breaking a vase along the way.
And so Mabel went down to Earth, traveling from statue to statue, painting to painting, floor art to floor art, all throughout Thebes. She had never been to the Big Olive and was excited to see the new place and to find Dipper and Stan’s home.
It was well into the night at this point. The stars twinkled and the night air was warm and soothing. Mabel thought he heard a familiar voice filled with laughter, and she looked down the street and grinned widely from the stem of a birdbath. She was ecstatic to see her brother on a date with a beautiful young lady; she decided to follow them and listen carefully. This was also good reassurance that Stan was okay; Dipper wouldn’t have left his side otherwise.
“Wow, what a day.” Dipper sighed. “Dinner by the ocean, that play… oh boy, I thought I had problems.”
Pacifica and Dipper both laughed, but one was having to force it more than the other. Slowly, steadily, Pacifica could feel herself becoming distracted. She had to focus. Her freedom was on the line. Still, as much of a nerd Wonderboy may be, able to tell the measurement of an item by glancing at it and solve impossible equations in his head in a second, he was actually a really nice guy. Getting tired of pretending, she decided to try a bit harder to find Dipper’s weakness so this whole thing could end.
Walking down some steps, Pacifica faked a trip at the last step. Dipper caught her swiftly and Pacifica winced. “Ugh, I think I stepped funny, landed on my ankle wrong.”
“Ouch,” Dipper sympathized. While he may have super god-like strength, that didn’t mean he never twisted an ankle or bent a wrist wrong, a small pain but no damage or hardly an injury. “Here, we can sit for a sec.” And he scooped her up gently and carried her to sit on the edge of a giant water fountain, the same water fountain Mabel was projecting herself into the heart of the small wall, eagerly hoping her twin would at least get a kiss.
“Oh. Thanks.” Pacifica was a bit taken back by his extra effort in manners, but quickly reminded herself that with strength like his picking up a girl was nothing. So she moved on with her plan. “So, do you have any issues with weak ankles?”
“Hm? Oh. No, not really.” Dipper chuckled.
Pacifica giggled alongside him and sat closer. “Really? No trick knee?” She asked slyly. “No bad shoulder?”
Dipper was blushing heavily, a bit uncomfortable with the praise and trying to remain humble as he gave an honest answer. “No, I’m… I’m pretty healthy…” And his smile dropped at remembering that the same couldn’t be said for Stan.
Pacifica rolled her eyes, ready to give up on her quest. Bill would just have to find some other way to kill him. She then noticed how down Dipper appeared, much more so than he had been all night, and before she realized what she was doing, she asked, “Hey, you okay?” Pacifica instantly bit her lip. Why did she say that? And why did she actually care?
Dipper looked at her with heavy eyes and sighed tiredly. “It’s Stan. He’s… He’s not well.”
Pacifica softened a little. “Oh. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Dipper looked up at the stars to make it easier to talk. “It’s just… he… I dunno. I was raised in an orphanage until I was twelve and went looking for him. Stan’s looked after me ever since, and… and he feels like family. I’ve never had one, and… it sometimes feels like he’s all I got.” Dipper was being very careful not to talk about the fact that he had a family waiting for him, but after only talking to Mabel here and there for so long, having never met them in the flesh or been at home, it sometimes felt like Stan was truly the only one there for him.
Pacifica scoffed and stood up to make some distance. “Family isn’t that great.”
Dipper blinked and stood to follow her down the street. “What do you mean?”
“I dunno, people just make such a big deal over families or whatever.” Pacifica complained. “It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. They’re just a bunch of people who would turn their backs on you just as quickly as anyone else.”
Dipper was a bit taken back by the harshness of her tone, but he shook it off to try to comfort someone who was clearly hurt. “That’s not true. Some families, sure, maybe. But not all families are like that.”
Pacifica gave him a sharp look. “How would you know?”
Dipper was a bit hurt by that, but it only made him more determined to change her mind. He took her hand as they were at the doorstep of his home, and he said firmly, “My family might be really small, and kinda broken, but it’s still an amazing family. We look after each other. We care for one another. And… And you could be a part of that.” Dipper bit his lip. Why did he say that? And why did he actually mean it?
It was Pacifica’s turn to be dumbstruck. She shook her clear to try to clear it and said, “I gotta go. Goodnight, hero.” And she kissed his hand, let go, and hurried down the street.
Dipper’s mouth was open so wide a fly nearly threw in, but luckily he coughed it out before he accidentally swallowed it. He brought his lucky hand up shakingly to smile at it, swearing he would never use it for anything ever again. Okay, maybe for one thing.
Mabel, meanwhile, knew that Pacifica liked Dipper and hurried after her, ready to perform a musical number to convince her to admit it and follow her heart and say she was in love, but as Pacifica hurried into the outdoor museum full of art, Mabel felt a chill go down her spine. She stopped at a brick wall-art of the sun and hid herself behind a bush, remembering her grunkle’s orders to stay hidden, just in case.
A small pyramid glowed yellow and with a small poof the triangle with a black toga appeared, smiling (as much as one can without a mouth) at Pacifica. Mabel stared, a little confused; this must be Grunkle Ford’s friend, the one Uncle Fiddleford didn’t seem to like very much. Instantly she could understand why Uncle Fiddleford didn’t like him, but so far Bill hasn’t done anything to learn Mabel’s dislike, so she kept an open-mind and listened.
“Hey-o, Llama, so whatcha got?”
“Nothing.” Pacifica said coldly, her arms crossed.
“Nothing?” Bill repeated.
“Nothing. No weak spot, no bad nerves, no tricks. Nothing. He has no weaknesses.”
Bill growled in his throat, floating back and forth in a pacing kind of way, his black hands behind his back. “No! Everybody’s got a weakness! We just gotta find it!” The demon stopped as he looked at a statue of a couple in love. “Maybe… Ugh, if only Sixer wasn’t so overprotective of Shooting Star. We could use her as bait.”
Pacifica snorted. “Yeah, good luck getting your hands on her.”
“But maybe…” Bill held his… well, he doesn’t have a chin, but he did put a hand to the front of his body in that type of manner. “... there’s someone we can get our hands on.”
“What?” Pacifica asked, not seeming bored for the first time in this entire conversation. “You mean Stan? I guess… Dipper did say he was like family.”
Bill cackled. “Oh, if only he knew.” The triangle gasped and punched his hand with the side of his fist in thought. “Hey! We can use that! Great work, Blondie. Now c’mon, we got a whole galaxy to conquer!” And he swooped himself and Pacifica away in a burst of blue fire.
Mabel had both hands over her mouth to keep herself quiet. She had so many questions and was confused on a few things, but she did know this: Bill wanted to hurt Dipper. Bill wanted to take over the galaxy. And he was lying to Grunkle Ford.
Without another thought, Mabel dashed as fast as she could for home. She accidentally gave herself such bad tunnel vision out of fear and desperation that she didn’t hesitate until she was at the entrance of her shared temple with her great-uncle. The young lady peered his office to find him hunched over his work, finding it hard to concentrate with the fate of his brother on his mind. Mabel didn’t know much about Bill, despite being a fellow god, but she did know that Ford considered him a friend, so this would be difficult news to deliver.
Mabel gently knocked on the column beside her to alert her guardian of her entrance. He turned and smiled genuinely at her. “Mabel, I’m happy to see you’re home safe. How… How is Stanley?”
Mabel winced; she had completely forgotten to check on her long-distance uncle in the excitement of her brother’s date and the harsh discovery. “Grunkle Ford, I need to tell you something.”
Immediately Ford feared the worst. It was too late. He would never see Stan again, and it was all his fault. Mabel sat on the desk and took his six-fingered hands. He bit his lip and braced himself as Mabel looked down, trying to find her words. After a moment or two that nearly killed the immortal god, the young muse asked carefully, “Bill… Is he your friend?”
Ford felt the wind being kicked out of him from the shock. He could have cried, he was so relieved, but instead he laughed and nodded. “Yes! Yes, my dear, Bill is an old friend of mine. If it wasn’t for him, the world would still be in complete chaos. My leadership position, and really the existence of you and your brother, is all thanks to him. He helped me save the world.” He praised.
Mabel looked even more nervous; Ford had hoped that this answer would assure any worry she had, but clearly this wasn’t the case. Before the god could ask what was wrong, the muse said quietly, “I think he only helped you save it so he could have it someday.”
Ford blinked like a confused owl at her. “What… What are you talking about?”
“I… I think… no, I’m sure that…”
“STANFOOOOOOOOORD!”
Mabel and Ford turned to the direction of the call and ran for the exit of their temple. They watched Fiddleford use his super speed to dash to them, pale and stuttering with fear. “HONEY FOGELIN’, SALT-LICKIN’ SKULLDUGGERY! OH, WE’RE IN TROUBLE! OH!”
“Fiddleford, buddy, calm down.” Ford gripped him by the shoulders to give him a chance to breathe and adjust his small glasses. “What’s the matter?”
“We’ve got an army o’ monsters that are practically at our gates!” Fiddleford informed. “There’s only a few minutes until Olympus is overrun!”
“What?! Alert the other gods! Prepare for a counter attack! Go, go!”
“Gone, babe.” Fiddleford said sarcastically with a roll of his eyes and ran as fast as possible as he blew his trumpet loudly throughout Olympus.
“Mabel, sweetie, I want you to go keep an eye on your brother.”
“But…”
Ford whistled loudly and the giant goat, Gompers, came trotting toward. Ford lifted her like a child and ignored her kicking and squirming. “Grunkle Ford!”
“I’m not asking!” Ford growled and gave her a firm look. “I can’t lose you! I just can’t! Now I’m ordering you to go check on M-... on Dipper. Now go!” And he smacked Gompers to make him gallop off the mountain and down to the mortal world.
~~~~~~~~~~
Just a few minutes after Dipper arrived back home, thinking about his amazing date with Pacifica, he decided to check on Stan. After making sure he was nowhere else in the luxurious house, Dipper gently knocked on his teacher’s bedroom door. “Stan? You okay?”
Praying the old man was at least wearing a toga, he carefully opened the door, but was a little surprised to find the bed empty. After a quick look around the lavish bedroom, Dipper concluded that Stan wasn’t here. He closed the door and turned away, wondering if Stan had gone outside for some fresh air, but was suddenly greeted by a high-pitched laughter and the lit torches made of stone were now blue. Dipper looked all over and was startled to find a huge golden triangle with one eye staring at him.
“Hey there, kid, name’s Bill, big guy of the Underworld, nice to meet you.” Bill said, a smooth-fast talker like a chariot salesman.
“Uh, hi.” Dipper greeted with a small, hesitant wave. There was no way the Ruler of the Underworld, the most mysterious god of them all, would be paying him a visit unless it was important or he wanted something.
“So, listen, Pinetree,” Bill said, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and floating alongside him, walking like they were old friends catching up. “I’m an old friend of your great-uncle, Stanford. He’s a fun guy, great god, you’re a lot like him, you know that? Anyway, so, as a friend of the family, I need a favor from you.”
Dipper wasn’t sure what to make of this. This was his first time meeting a god apart from Mabel, and now to be needed by one was a bit confusing. Why now? Was it possible he was on his way to becoming a true hero? Was he almost a god again? Was this a test? He smiled nervously and shrugged. “Uh, sure, what do you need?”
“Oh, boy, look at this guy! A real trooper he is! You’re alright, Sixer Jr!” Bill laughed and clapped his shoulder. “Now, I would be eternally grateful if you took a day off from this hero gig. I mean, c’mon, monsters, natural disasters…”
All hope that this visit was a good thing died. Dipper scowled and shook his head, shoving Bill’s hand off his shoulder. There was one reason and one reason only someone would want him to stop being a hero, even if it was only for a short time. “No way…”
“Not so fast,” Bill said coolly and he locked his own fingers cunningly. “Cuz I have something that might change your mind.” And he snapped his fingers.
Out of thin air an old man appeared in chains, on his knees. “Stan!” Dipper gasped.
“Dipper, what the h-...” And more chains covered his mouth.
Dipper ran for his teacher but Stan was gone before the young hero could help. “Let him go!” He dove for Bill, but only fell through him, like the demon was made of mist.
“Here’s the deal: you give up your strength for the next twenty-four hours,” And Bill snapped his fingers again and Stan reappeared, gagged and trapped. “And Knucklehead here is as free as a bird and safe, we dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we go home happy. Whatcha say, c’mon?”
Dipper stared at Stan, who was shaking his head. The young man looked away and then back at Bill. “People are gonna get hurt, aren’t they?”
“Nah,” Bill dragged, flicking his wrists downward and then instantly shrugging with his hands behind his back. “I mean, maybe, there’s a possibility, it happens cuz, y’know, life sucks. So what?” The triangle joined Stan and cupped his face teasingly. “Isn’t your great uncle more important than they are?”
Dipper opened his mouth to order him to stop, but his jaw fell and his voice was stolen from him. Bill smiled excitingly and asked, “Oo, struck a nerve, did I?” He laughed maliciously. “You seriously didn’t know he’s Sixer’s brother?! Oh, man! This is sad! Ever wondered why he had a grudge against Fordsie? Ever wondered why he even gave a worthless orphan the time of day to begin with? It’s cuz he only barely cared cuz you’re blood. Duh.”
“You’re lying.” Dipper said firmly. “Stan, he’s making it up, isn’t he?” He begged, his brown eyes on Stan, the same eyes that matched his own. “Because… you would have told me if it’s true… wouldn’t you?”
Stan looked away.
“Daw, don’t blame him, kid. It’s not his fault you didn’t inherit Mr. Lightning Bolt’s brains. Now, c’mon, you really wanna lose another pwecious famwy member?”
“OKAY!” Dipper yelled to get Bill to fall silent. There was a moment of pause and Stan stared at his nephew. “Okay… okay… But you gotta swear Stan won’t get hurt.”
“Fine, whatever. Stan won’t get hurt.” Bill said and walked towards the birthmarked hero, leaving Stan alone for a moment. “Otherwise you’ll get your strength right back, fine print, blah blah blah. It’s a deal?” And he held out a hand encased in blue fire.
Dipper hesitated, looking down at it, and that made Bill a little irritated, a dangerous game to play. Bill withdrew his hand. “Y’know I really don’t have time to bat this around, I got places to be, people to see, I need an answer, like, now. Going once, going twice…”
"It's a deal!" And Dipper ceased Bill's hand.
At once, the demon's thumb sharpened, cutting into Dipper's hand and seemed to be sucking the strength out of him. The young man sagged and Stan fought harder than ever to break free, but it was too late. Bill let Dipper go and he fell to his knees like a puppet with his strings cut off. One could say Dipper should have made sure he agreed to only give away his "god-like" strength, rather simply "strength," for this loophole left Dipper far weaker than any man, arguably weaker than an infant.
Bill cackled as he held his three-sided body and wiggled his legs in joy. "Thanks for the favor, Pinetree! Now if you'll excuse me, there's an entire cosmos out there with my name on it! Oh! Right, can't forget." Bill snapped his fingers and Stan was set free from his chains. "The guy ashamed to be your family is all yours, hero."
He instantly ran to Dipper's hunched-over body and rubbed his back. "Easy, buddy boy, I got you. It's okay."
Dipper swatted his hands away and groaned from the effort. "Stan… why… why didn't you say…"
Stan was hurt, but pushed it aside to focus on how hurt his nephew was. He rubbed the back of his neck. "I… I wanted to. Believe me, kid, I wanted to, but… I couldn't."
"Oh, and one more thing. Lil'Llama, thanks for the info." Bill sneered, curling a finger from the shadows to himself, and his slave emerged with her head down in shame. "A deal's a deal, you're free to go."
Dipper stared, heartbroken more so than ever. "Pacifica?"
"Hey, that's the blonde damsel from the river." Stan growled. "Tramp. C'mon, Dipper, let's get you to…"
"Don't." Dipper snapped as he steadily got to his own feet. "I… I can take care of myself…"
Stan withdrew his hand and took a step back, letting Dipper hold himself up by leaning on a column, catching his breath. The proud uncle bit his lip and was distracted from his misery and shame when a big bang could be heard outside.
He stood outside his home and his mouth was open as the sky was an unnatural sea of colors and the ocean was raging with waves that seemed to make everything it touched weird. Bushes were coming to life and eating ghosts. Old women were being turned into furniture. Men were going delusional and eating their togas. Stan cringed at the weirdness, and it only got worse when some big goblin-looking monster with Eight Ball eyes was bringing havoc to Thebes.
~~~~~~~~~~
The planets aligning created a weak spot in the dimension, and in the depths of the sea, Bill peered down and could practically see his old minions in the Nightmare Realm. “My friends!” He called, pointing a finger at the weak spot and tearing a whole in space-time. “We finally have a new home, boys! But one guy stands in our way. An obnoxious poindexter with six fingers. So, since I’ve given you guys a stable home, whatcha gonna do about it?”
“DESTROY HIM!”
“Good answer.”
And so, when Fiddleford was disturbed from his nightly slumber on a low cloud outside of Olympus, he screamed and ran as fast as he could to alter his friend and the leader of the gods. Huge monsters scaled the mountain. Flying eyeballs flew like bats and screeched, turning fighting gods into stone and flying them away.
With Mabel gone and no longer terrified for her safety, Ford stood on a tall cloud just inside the gates of his home and shot down bolts of lightning with his golden crossbow. The monsters were sturdy, and while the attacks did slow them down, the battle was not looking good for the gods. Ford caught his breath and was very disturbed when a giant gray-blue loaf of bread with arms and legs but no face broke down the gates.
“What’s our status?!” Ford asked his best friend.
“Everyone’s bein’ turned t’stone!” Fiddleford yelled as an eyebat shined a beam down at him. “Even me!”
“NO!” Ford threw his last bolt at the eyebat, but it swerved out of the way and scooped up Fiddleford’s frozen body.
Ford looked left and right, waiting for an idea to come to him, but he was too clouded with anxiety and worry that he failed to notice the huge, now three-dimensional demon behind him. “Fordsie, I’m home.” A shrill voice sang.
“Bill?” Ford breathed, his eyes narrowing in anger and he shook with rage. He should have listened to Mabel and knew he was behind this. He growled like an angry bulldog and tried to throw a punch, but with a lift of a finger Bill had total control over Ford’s body and made him float lifelessly in front of him.
“Well well, looks like you truly are as dumb as you look. Tell me, did you really think such a powerful being would ever be friends with a six-fingered monster?” Bill laughed evilly and moved two arms close, creating lava and ice to work together to encase Ford in a stony prison. “This dimension is mine, Sixer, and it’s all thanks to you.” He said as Ford climbed and crawled to try to escape, but was steadily being encased, like quicksand. “Now all I need to do is make sure those brats stay out of my way.”
“NO! NO!” Ford screamed. “NOT MY KIDS, YOU CA-...” And he was completely covered.
“I’m the one giving orders now, Freak.” Bill sneered and sat in his new throne the eyebats had made for him, made entirely out of gods and goddesses. “And I think I’m gonna like it here.”

Only The Roses Should Be Red
Tumblr media
Card: Dorm Uniform - SSR Characters: Riddle, Cater, Trey, Deuce
Chapter 1
—HEARTSLABYUL DORM - LOUNGE—
Cater: Ugh… I just can’t get this memorized!
Trey: Oi oi, Cater. Where did your usual smarts go?
Cater: That’s easy for you to say, Trey-kun.
People have things they can do and things they can’t…
Trey: Failing next week’s written exam on practical magic could send your final grade spiraling, huh…?
Cater: Right! I seriously have to drill this spell into my head somehow…
Trey: Don’t say that while you’re opening Magicam on your phone.
Cater: I just don’t have any motivation…
But I’m able to remember things that get uploaded to Magicam…
Like the long menu names from trendy cafés, or the dates that cute clothes go on sale…
Riddle: Why are the two of you frowning?
Trey: Oh, Riddle. Right now I’m helping Cater study for his magic test. He’s close to failing.
Riddle: …He’s close to what?
Cater: Hold on a sec, Trey-kun! You didn’t have to tell him that!
Trey: Practical magic is a required course, so if you fail it here, I just don’t think you’ll be able to pass this year.
Riddle: Cater. Are your grades so poor that you might not even pass this year?
The only thing that should be red in this dormitory are the roses! It’ll be off with your head for all the red marks you’ve gotten!
Cater: N-No, no! This is the only thing I’m really bad at! I’ve never gotten red marks in any of my other classes!
Riddle: Failing something in even one of your classes should give you a sense of impending doom.
So? What are you struggling with?
Cater: “Auto-Cleaning Using Enchanted Supplies”…
Riddle: Auto-cleaning… So magic that makes brushes and rags clean by themselves.
I’m still a second-year, so I haven’t learned that lesson yet. But if it’s just the spell you need, I’ve read a book on it.
Cater: I’m having trouble with this “auto” part. The composition of this spell is almost like programming a machine.
It won’t work if I don’t follow the formula exactly, but… I just can’t memorize it…
Trey: That brings up a good point. You should avoid using any breakable objects with this magic, and be careful on the carpet…
Since you’ll have to cast that magic on the cleaning supplies beforehand.
Riddle: Cater’s Unique Magic allows him to clone himself, right?
If you’ve mastered magic that complex, how are you having trouble with this?
Cater: Well… I’m great at thinking of lots of things all at once, but I’m not that good at envisioning outcomes, or planning things out…
Riddle: So what you’re saying is… You’re smart, but you don’t put in any effort. I see.
Very well. Then I will teach you how to study.
Cater: What, seriously?!
Trey: But this is third-year level work. Is this really alright?
Riddle: Who do you think you’re speaking to? I’m the dorm leader of Heartslabyul.
Having the ability to fix all students’ problems regardless of grade level was one of the first qualifications of becoming dorm leader.
Ever since I took that role, no one has repeated a year or dropped out.
And as long as I’m in this position, there will be absolutely no failures in my dorm!
Just leave everything to me.
I will make it so that Cater gets a high score, guaranteed.
—LIBRARY—
Deuce: Um, the shelf that had alchemy grimoires was this one, right…?
Riddle: First we should use floating magic as a base… No, it’d be better to implement the transparency magic first.
A book further detailing the spell would be——Ah!
(Crash!)
Deuce: Ah!
Riddle: Ouch… I apologize, I was looking the other way.
Deuce: Dorm Leader Rosehearts! I’m so sorry!
Riddle: Oh, look who’s here—Deuce.
Deuce: I’ll help you pick up the books… Wait, you’re planning on reading all of these?
Riddle: Yes. Is there a problem?
Deuce: You have at least twenty grimoires here, and they’re all big and seem complicated…
Riddle: These are the materials I need so I can compile a test prep notebook for Cater.
Since solving student problems is the dorm leader’s duty.
Deuce: Th-That’s our dorm leader for you…! You have my respect.
The only thing I can help you with is carrying things for you… but, I will at least bring them to your desk.
Riddle: Thank you. You’re a big help.
Good. If I just summarize all of these grimoires, he should do perfect on his test.
I’m looking forward to handing him the finished product.
Chapter 2
—HEARTSLABYUL DORM - HALLWAY—
Riddle: Don’t take another step, Cater!
Why is it so hard for you to memorize just 300 pages of text?!
OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!
Cater: It takes longer than one or two days to memorize 300 pages!
Plus, everything’s written so tiny and squished together, and it’s on A4-sized paper!
Stop yelling so angrily with your face that red!
Trey: Now, now, Riddle. Let’s calm down a little.
Riddle: Hah… Y-You’re right. Sorry for that.
...Ahem. Alright, Cater?
This test prep notebook I compiled for you is designed to counter any questions you might have.
It has the basics, advanced concepts, and trick questions… If you memorize just these 300 pages, you’ll be able to understand all of that.
So stop thinking about how hard it is and just memorize this text!
Cater: I know you worked really hard to make this, and I want to memorize everything too.
But every time I open the text, whenever I get to page 3 I just get tired all of a sudden…
Riddle: Page 3, you said?
So you’ve only read up to the table of contents?!
You’re just asking to have your head roll!!
Trey: R-Riddle. I understand how you feel, but come on now…
Riddle: Nngh…!!
Trey: And Cater. If this is putting you to sleep, then start reading out loud. Put some effort into getting this memorized.
Our busy dorm leader went through the trouble of making this just for you, after all.
Cater: That’s true. Yeah. Sorry…
Alright. I have one week till my test, so from now on I’ll seriously try to study!
Riddle: Hmph. If you had me do this much for you and still end up failing…
It really will be off with your head. Keep that in mind!
Cater: I-I’ll do my best.
I’ll make a post of my plans on Magicam, and then take a break from it for a little bit.
First let’s take a picture of the test prep notebook Riddle-kun made… Here.
(Snap!)
Cater: #TestStudyTime #300PagesofText #HandmadebyRiddlekun #TakingItSeriousNow #NoDozingOff
Posted~! Alright, I’ll go back to my room and start studying. Thank you, you two.
             (Cater leaves)
Riddle: Honestly. That drives me crazy about Cater.
He’s only ever looking at Magicam like that and forgets about studying.
Trey: I’m sure you can understand the feeling of trying to get out of doing something you don’t want to do.
Riddle: That doesn’t mean it’s okay for students not to study.
Trey: That’s true…
…Do you have any foods you don’t like, Riddle?
Riddle: Hah? That’s so random.
But if I had to answer… I guess I wouldn’t want to eat anything that’s bad for you, or anything with too much seasoning.
Trey: What if you had to eat every last bite of something with heavy seasoning, no matter what…
How would you eat it?
Riddle: Hmm. I’d figure out a way to make it just a little easier to eat.
Like adding hot water to dilute the flavor, or eating it in portions with sides like bread or rice.
Or also maybe eat it with something I like…
…………..AH!
——I see. That’s what’s going on!
In that case, Cater would definitely….!
Trey: What happened, Riddle?
Riddle: Trey, there’s something I want you to show me.
Chapter 3
—HEARTSLABYUL DORM - ROSE MAZE—
Cater: *Yawns*… I’m tired…
I seriously just can’t go on without Magicam… Alright, forget I made that rule. Morning Magicam check~!
Riddle: You have a big mouth, Cater, just like the walrus who stuffed his face with oysters.
Cater: Ah, Riddle-kun! M-Morning~ You look totes cute like always today!
Oh, th-this is not what you think! I wasn’t looking at Magicam or anything…
Riddle: Ah, speaking of Magicam…
I made an account yesterday too.
Cater: Oh….. HUH?!
You started a Magicam?!
Riddle: What’s with that reaction?
Should I not have a Magicam?
Cater: No, it’s not that! It’s just, you’ve always said you “weren’t interested” and never made an account, so that surprised me.
Riddle: Hm. I just happened to feel like making one.
And I thought I’d come ask for your ID.
Cater: For sure, let’s add each other! I’m super excited to see the pics you upload~☆
Riddle: Hehe. Be sure to check everyday so you don’t miss anything.

summery: not freaking telling
Masterlist
several years ago, billionaire Bruce Wayne disappeared from Gotham City, the company struggled but when Lucius Fox got murdered his nephew Luke struggled to keep Wayne techs inner lights on.
one evening Kate Kane walked into the office of CEO Bruce Wayne her cousin. she was determined to continue the legacy he had left behind in one shape or form.
she stumbled upon her cousins biggest secret, the biggest legacy he had left behind. she found the Batcave. she discovered her cousin was Batman. now she continues the shadow of the Bat. she continues to strike fear into the criminal element of Gotham City.
you had gone off the grid shortly after Bruce did, you werent sure when or if you should return but 6 years later you did, just cause you figured things would have changed and you had heard about another bat being in gotham.
you wanted to know if Bruce had returned. of course you knew your boss’ deepest darkest secret, you were his co ceo and his secretary. you had to know these things.
the penthouse you had been living in before leaving gotham hadnt changed at all. after putting your stuff down and getting somewhat settled, you decided to go and see if your workplace had changed at all, you decided to go see if anything had changed with Wayne tech.
the exterior of wayne tech hadnt changed though there were fewer lights on inside, but you swiped your key card thinking that no one else would be here that you would be able to go upstairs without anyone realizing that you were here.
kate: “someone just used a key card and entered the building.” Luke: “what do we do?” Kate: “we need to find out who they are and how they have a key card. It looks like they are coming up here. So perfect we will be questioning them in no time.”
Luke: “why would we question someone who used a key card? wait what was the key card access number?”
Kate looked at the computer again…
Kate: “4789932. why do you ask?”
Luke: “dont interrogate the person coming out of the elevator was the last person to see Bruce before he disappeared. his secretary, YN.”
you exit the elevator at that moment to see Luke and Kate in the room. Kate’s eyes lock onto yours, her gaze piercing your soul, you had forgotten that you were standing in the office of your former boss.
Luke: “you YN right?”
YN: “who are you? and how did you get in here? this is sacred space.”
Kate steps in front of luke and comes close to you.
Kate: “no need to be hostile, im Kate Kane im Bruce’s cousin. the one he didnt really mention, when he disappeared i figured i would use this place as my home away from home. plus my buddy Luke here is the son of Lucius who i believe worked closely with you and Bruce before Bruce disappeared and before Lucius passed a year ago. when my cousin disappeared did you happen to…”
you interrupted Kate, you felt bad for doing so but you knew what she was gonna ask.
YN: “no he didnt mention anything to me about where he was going, he was just being Bruce. he told me he had to leave Gotham and wasnt sure if or when he would return. i left that same day when he and i had last talked. we had our final conversation and i got on the next flight out of gotham and spent the last few years trying to cope with having lost my job, the loss of my best friend, and the loss of my life.”
Kate: “how long have you been back in Gotham?”
You had to set yourself down in a chair cause now you were feeling the vibes and memories from being back in the office.
YN: “i got back only 4 hours ago. i live in the penthouse in the gotham plaza hotel a couple blocks away. but there are a ton of cars and everything everywhere whats going on?”
Kate looked at you and then remmbered that you hadnt been back in gotham very long.
Kate: “tonight is some sort of fancy ball type thing that the rich folk are throwing in honor of the crows security team that helps the gcpd protect gotham well only those who can afford it anyway. anyway my dad wants me to make an appearance and be there and such so i was wondering if your not busy would you consider coming with me…”
you were shocked this woman this woman who you had barely known for a total of half an hour was asking you on a date… and you of course had nothing to wear.
YN: “i would love to but i have nothing to wear.”
Kate: “we can solve that… Luke im taking the night off… and whatever you do dont contact me at all. im gonna show YN just how much has changed in this city and with its people. and rememebr to pick us up at the apartment at 6:30pm.”
Kate takes you to the elevator and down to the garage. you of course realized that she had a motor bike and that was a total turn on for you.
YN: “where are we gonna find me an outfit on such short notice.”
Kate: “there is a boutique near my place we will stop there on the way to getting me ready.”
you take the helmet that she hands you, you put it on and strap your small bag cross your body, and get on behind Kate. you hold on tight as she takes off out of the garage.
the feeling coursing through your veins right then was something you hadnt felt in a long time. in about 15 minutes you both arrived at a small boutique. it was super fancy, you remmber hitting alot of those types of store when you were bruce’s secretary.
Kate: “lets find you a dress…”
you and Kate walk into the boutique and smile as you both walk in not knowing what you wanted like detail wise for a dress. but Kate spoke up fairly calm.
Kate: “can i get some help to find this lovely woman a dress for the ball tonight?”
Helen comes around the corner and stands immediately in front of you and Kate.
Helen: “such a fluent canvas, let me guess you wear mostly bright colors, but look good in almost anything, dont really care for heals but will deal with wedges, spaghetti strap, built in bra, and has to have a slit in the front for easy walking but can deal if it doesnt. how did i do?”
YN: “you got it. how did you know?”
Helen: “darlin’ ive been at this a long time plus you are very easy to read… wait a moment you remind me of.. YN?”
you had to think now… you couldnt think straight in the first place cause of Kate but now you were faced with this lady who suddenly knew your name.
YN: “im sorry you seem to have me at a disadvantage. do i know you?”
Helen: “its me Helen, i was your tailor when Mr Wayne was still here. God rest his soul.”
you now knew who she was and she hugged you welcoming you back to Gotham as she took you to the rack where she happened to have a mermaid spaghetti strap in lilac and in your size.
she pulled it off the shelf and handed it to you. you held it up to your figure and she gave it the thumbs up as she went to grab you a shawl and a handbag as well as a pair of wedges which she took a guess on the size.
kate and you went back to her apartment and she helped you get comfortable before she went to go get ready for the ball. you started to take off what you currently were wearing, and then you slid into the dress. the satin lace combo gliding across your skin.
you didnt hear Kate who wanted your help with her tie come back as you finished pulling the up but couldnt reach the zipper.
Kate: “knock knock…”
YN: “i cant reach the zipper. Can you zip up my dress?”
Kate: “only if you help me. Can you help me with my tie?”
you nod.
YN: “deal. but who goes first?”
Kate: “come closer to me and turn around so i can do up the zipper.”
you turn around and move your hair out of habit. Kate’s hands move slowly along your back to the zipper but they trace every inch of your back before grasping the zipper.
YN: “can I ask you something?”
Kate: “of course.”
Yn: “did you have any contact with Bruce before he left that would indicate where he was going or why?”
Kate: “no but my cousin was strong willed, if he wanted to do something he most certainly did everything in his power to achieve whatever he was trying to do. Ugh the zipper is stuck, do not worry I have someone who is very eager to help in any way possible but while I Call her can you do my tie?”
Just as you turn around you hear the door open, Kate turns to defensive in front of you. Mary walks through the door.
Mary: “chill out sis it’s me!”
Kate: “thank God it’s you I hope you can help. Mary this is YN, YN this is My sister Mary. Mary can you fix YN’s zipper on her dress it is stuck even I couldn’t get it.”
Mary places her purse and her coat down and comes behind you. While you trace Kate’s form grasping hold of her tie. Mary goes to take a look at your zipper, she spends longer on the zipper then you do on kates tie.
You had this weird feeling, like she had a secret, like she was trying to tell you something and you werent quite picking up the signal.
Kate had one of her hands on your waist, she had every confidence that she had found her one in you. Course she had heard her cousin mention his fantastic secretary but she didnt think you would be this gorgeous. Mary after a while exclaims.
Mary: “i have an idea… stay right there dont move…”
mary left the room for a moment this left you and kate to further ponder your thougts. kate still had her hand on your waist, this sparked something within you that you had not felt in years.
Kate: “do you have anyone special in your life?”
YN: “ive been single every day for my entire life. cause before i left bruce and i shared secrets with eachother that we soon knew would go with us to our graves. kate, im a lesbian…”
Kate smiles and is about to speak when mary comes back into the room, she goes to the back of your dress and fiddles round for a few moments before standing straight and comes back to her bag and coat.
Mary: “all done i replaced the zipper pull, you will be fine ill fully replace the zipper before that dress is needed again. now both of you should go Luke will be here any moment. and im hitching a ride so hurry up both of you and finish getting reAdy.”
Kate and you finished getting ready, the sound of a car horn sounded. this pulled you and kate out of your own admirations and into a state of lets go present to the public.
you held kates hand this sent several shivers down your spine but in a good way. kate however knew what you felt but she knew she would have to tell you her secret after tonight if everything went her way.
kate: "so i hope that this isnt too forward but how do you think people at this party will react to seeing you at the party let alone back in gotham?"
yN: "dont worry bout it ill just exclaim that im back to stop running from the past. Exclaim that I can't and I shouldn't run forever! Even if I'm still scared."
kate: "what do you have to be scared of?"
yn: "my future, the company I worked for for so long went awol after lucius God rest his soul and now I return to meet the cousin of my former boss and the son of his best friend. Geez I'm overwhelmed!"
Kates hand on your own had you finding the strength to make it through the evening! Your only thoughts were of how how you and Kate looked.
Luke got out of the car and came round to open your door so kate and you as well as mary could exit the car. The press got one look at you beside kate and had a field day.
After pushing through the crowd, making it inside the gallary you realized that the security was tighter than usual.
YN: “when did security get beefed up?”
Kate: “since my father became the leader of a security company, they are called the Crows, they became a thing after Batman disappeared. lets avoid any and all contact with him while here, he wont entirely take kindly to me having a date at this gala.”
YN: “does he know that your...”
Kate: “yes he does but he doesnt entirely approve of it. but you know what screww what he thinks. im just happy to not be suffering this event alone.”
You smiled you knew that there was a small chance that kate had feelings for you as well. there was speeches, music, silent auction and dancing. this was what you and Kate spent some of your time doing. was dancing and placing tickets into the silent auctions.
You and Kate were standing by the bar during the next few speeches, doing a few shots and having several laughs.
Kate: "have you ever kissed a girl?"
YN: "not willingly... Poison ivy got me once but batman swooped in and saved me after I sucker punched him while he was trying to save me. But I guess kissed and put under a spell by a bad girl doesn't count."
Kate: "nope but it was a good try..."
before kate had a chance to finish er sentance her name was being called, this made both you and her turn toward the voice, this also made kate immediately chug the rest of her drink.
Jacob: "kate... didnt expect to see you here tonight."
kate: "thats cause i didnt mention that i was gonna be here. as i found out a few new things today but you dont need to know as long as you do what you do we can never be a proper family. trust me being gay is the best thing to ever happen to me. I swear I'm not gonna give up who I am just to make you proud of me. If you can't accept me for who I am then how are we supposed to be a family. "
Jacob: "Kate you made your choice years ago at the Acadamy you don't need to remind me that we are not and can never be a proper family. You and your lady friend enjoy the gala."
Jacob gives you the snake eye before walking away. You turn to Kate both of you now standing alot closer before. Then it was time for someone from Wayne tech to get up and speak.
You and Kate were the only ones who were able and willing to represent the company on the stage.
Kate: "Wayne tech was started by my aunt Martha and my uncle Thomas Wayne many many years ago. Then my cousin Bruce took over when he was old enough. 6 years ago my cousin disappeared, 3 years ago lucius fox was murdered, today I stand up here with YN who worked close along side lucius and Bruce for many years before Bruce disappeared. Under her leadership and the help of lucius fox's nephew Luke we have plans to reopen Wayne tech."
YN: "citizens of Gotham, what Kate says is true we have plans to reopen Wayne tech, we hope to bring good to our city, continuing on in the steps of my former boss and business partner Bruce, may he ever be remembered as we reopen and continue the business that was the foundation to Gothams Legacy for years before and will continue to be...”
before you could finish your speech the lights in the entire building went out. you and Kate stood close.
Kate: “stay close to me, this is not supposed to happen...”
a few moments later a single spotlight on the other side of the room reveals someone standing there...
Hush: “greetings gothamites, right now some of the crows are all standing on pressure plates that will explode the building if they move. so i want the little rat who is associated with Bruce wayne to come forth and face the punishment for trying to shine that light again.”
Kate and you make your way through the shadows and around the harmless civilians to a hidden panel in the wall. stepping inside this felt very familiar feeling of security.
Kate: “we all have our demons, some of our demons hide in the shadows, for this lunatic out there im one of his demons. YN you know Bruce’s secret now im trusting you with mine.”
YN; “ what are you talking about Kate i have to go out there and stand up to that monster and prove my worth.”
Kate: “and you will have your part to play in this but so will i...”
you watch as she emerges from shadws into some low lighting dressed as a bat...”
YN: “so you took after your cousin in that respect. i am so happy that you have trusted me with this secret. thank you for that.”
Kate: “all i want you to do is go out there and keep him talking distract him long enough for luke who can hear us right now to silently and remotely disarm the pressure plates. now go, ill be along shortly. i have to go a different way.”
you leave the hole in the wall, you walk out there and throw your voice from behind the people.
YN: “who are you and what the hell do you want with me?”
Hush: “why dont you come out and face me so i can see who you are!”
You go further and a spotlight shines on you.
Hush: "well well well, let's get this party started.. Starting with a pop quiz: in Wayne tech the last project that was announced to be in development was what?"
YN: "a new secure wing at arkham asylum."
Hush: "what made the plans for this project go off the rails?"
YN: "the disappearance of Bruce Wayne and the murder of lucius fox."
Hush: "and what project are you guys gonna start on with your start up?"
Yn: "why does it matter to you you dick? You are the one that is basically holding us for hostage... Now either release the innocent people and disarm the pressure plates or the gcpd will be crawling over this place in a matter of moments."
Hush: "now now little girl, you were Bruce Wayne's pet weren't you?"
YN: "I was his assistant and best friend."
Hush: "I knew him once, but he was much different then... I for one am glad he is gone, he was an arrogant ass..."
Kate came into view a few times, helping to set up the room so the people are safe, you keep ‘hush’ busy for a few moments. before you knew it all the innocents were in a safe location.
Hush approached you rapidly and began to get all up in your grill.
Hush: “why are you not afraid of me?”
YN: “cause ive seen things in my lifetime that would scare even a man with no heart such as yourself. so do your worse cause im counting on someone saving me very soon...”
Hush comes up and starts using his fingers to trace your body. that is when Kate decided it was time to make her presence known.
Batwoman: “hey ugly, take your hands off the lady...”
Hush turns to see Batwoman who you know is actually Kate standing behind him...
Hush: “why should i you silly little bat?”
Batwman: “cause in a number of moments the pressure plates will be disarmmed, the crows will be free and you will be going to arkham. now pick on someone your own size...”
Hush turned away from you immediately before turning to batwoman he chucked knives at her while you stood there and watched.. Kate caught your eye and winked, just like bruce used to do if he wanted to pull a reverse batarang catch combo.
Kate threw the batarang and it landed in your catch then with all your strength and force your threw that batarang at the back of hush’s head and he fell straight on his face.
batwoman: “alright commander the pressure plates have been disabled, make sure this animal sees justice. ill take the lady out of the building. have a good night commmander.”
kate comes up to you and grapples both of you out of the building. kate’s father called to make sure both of you were okay. you ended up at wayne tower with kate now she still is in costume.
Kate: “what fascination did my cousin have for bookcases...”
YN: “it is just his thing, back at wayne manor he had a bookcase a piano entrance and several other things, he finally choose the bookcase to make things easy for his quick escapes.”
Kate: "do you want to see the cave?"
YN: "I haven't been down there since before Bruce left... I would love to see it back up and running."
Kate's hand on your own leading you down into the cave made you smile as the stairwell seemed to get brighter like something glowing at the end of the tunnel.
Getting to the end of the tunnel there's a path lined with flame less tea lights.
Yn: "it's beautiful... I love these tea lights!"
Kate: "I have to be honest tonight I had a hard time keeping myself from letting my heart lead my actions. In the few short hours that I've known you, I've fallen in love with you. I had Luke and Mary set this up. As well as the bed in the center."
Kate says as she starts de suiting allowing you to roam around but mid way through de suiting her eyes couldn't leave your form.
Kate: "it took everything I had for will power not to make love to you right then and there and when we were dancing it took all my will power not to kiss you while dancing."
You turned to face Kate both of you facing eachother now.
Yn: "what's stopping you now?"
Mid way through de suiting Kate allowed her instincts to take over. she left her suit half off ran to you cupped your cheeks and kissed you. this was the kiss that felt like it had happened before, but of course it hadnt but it sure as hell felt amazing literally breath taking.
after 10 minutes both of you broke the kiss breathing heavily before kate spoke in heavy raspy breaths.
Kate (breathing heavily): “this might be more sexy if you help me finish getting out of my suit.”
YN (breathing heavily): “turn around and i will...”
Kate turns around, you place small seductive kisses trailing her neck, to her shoulder, down her spine earning small soft moans of approval from Kate. your hands moved to her wait and began to slide the suit from her waist down her legs you still leaving kisses ever couple seconds.
once the suit was off Kate threw it across the table in the corner, and took you closer to the bed as she started to use her hands once more to roam over your body, feeling every inch of it.
Kate: “you are still wearing far too much clothing... turn around time for me to help you get out of what you are wearing...”
YN: “i promise you that this is probably way less than you were wearing.”
Kate: “turn around for me..”
you turned around and smiled, kates hands on the back of your dress using the make shift pully for the zipper that mary had put on to undo the dress. but Kate kissed your neck earning soft moans from you.
Kate: “dont forget we are the future of wayne tech, and united we stand..”
YN: “you are so hot, i got all throat dryed and tongue tied when i first met you. i was shell shocked... but im damn well glad you were the one in the building.”
the fabric slid off your body on its own, all kate had to do was make sure you didnt trip over the dress. tossing that with the suit you are in the caressed embrace of Kate.
Kate: “so beautiful...”
you turn around lifting Kate’s tank top off her body. her hands making quick work to slide off her shorts. both of you now scooting onto the bed, Kate was on top of you quicker than you were fully laying down.
Kate: “now this is how love is supposed to be...”
Kate grinded her way onto you, pulling off 69 and just general pleasuring sensual acts. you both were screaming and moaning in pleasure.
Kate: “you know i dont think ive had this much passion in sex in a long time.”
YN: “i know what you mean and i am perfectly content staying right here for like ever...”
kate had been using a double strap on so it pleasured you both. she hadnt puled out or really stopped moving, you both were just laying in a way that you could have a conversation.
YN: “how did i get so lucky to end up with you?”
Kate: “no idea but it was probably the same thing that brought me to you. i love you...”
You cupped her cheeks making sure your noses were touching and that was how your night of perfect bliss continued with the strap on and the vigerous sexual positions and the oral sex you received from Kate.
After several hours of that you both fell asleep cuddled together in perfect harmony. Morning soon fell, the bat computer started its morning routine, the lights were still romantic.
In those moments things seemed simple, both of you had forgotten the horrific but wonderful time at the gala the night before.
Kate and you stirred at the same time, opening your eyes only to start grinding the strap on again, not alot of moving from where you were nor from under the covers.
You were still going at it moments later when Luke and Mary began to decend into the cave. Neither you nor Kate noticed as you were too pre occupied.
The bat computer spoke suddenly.
Computer: "sir Luke and lady Mary, madame Kate and mistress YN are still rolling in the sheets, they also just woke up shall I put up the protective shield?"
Mary: "yes please so we don't have to see anything.. But there is a question I have who installed those shield and why?"
Computer: "master Wayne did for his rendezvous with miss Kyle! Whenever they would happen. "
Luke: "did my father know? About Bruce and Selena?"
Computer: "oh yes everyone eventually knew cause they got engaged in secret. To show Gotham that Selina had truly changed her spots."
Luke and Mary were shocked they didnt think that someone would happen upon anything like that in the cave... though like they were about to see the shield would reveal as though nothing was on the other side of the wall...
Luke: "did bruce leave anything indicating where he was going or why he left?"
computer: "that information is classified except to those whose code names are on the inscription."
Mary: "is it safe to go down now?"
computer: "yes go on..."
meanwhile you and Kate were still engaged in the sensual arts. passion flowing gracefully from you both. neither of you noticing the shield nor hearing the voices from luke and mary, nor realizing that there was work to be done.
about an hour later you and kate were both finally satisfied. you both threw on the robes sitting near by and smiled happily walking out from behind the shield. only to be confronted with glares from Luke and Mary...
Luke: “glad you both could finally join us... oh by the way, great idea for starting wayne tech again that is a brilliant plan...”
Mary: “where are your formal wear so i can repair that zipper and whatever else needs on it...”
YN: “its on the couch over near the shield. just dont look back there it aint pretty.”
Kate smiled cause she could only imagine what kind of horrors they would see if they looked.
Kate: “did you find anything on that Hush character from the gala last night?”
Luke: “sadly no but i can say that whoever he is is extremely hard to place. plus there is no mention of anyone named Hush in Bruce’s files anywhere.”
YN: “so he is someone new thats okay cause i am the one that took down Poison ivy, that was one of the only missions i ever did with bruce i had my own suit and everything. Bruce taught me everything he knew. but in those moments ivy had no idea that i was the same girl she had tried to force to kill Batman. then i turned around and clipped her with a batarang to the back of the head and brought her ass to arkham. it was a glorious day. it was also the same day that Bruce told me he was leaving. or well that he was preparing too. he told me for what was coming neither of us should be in the city. so when he left i grabbed what few belongings i had and i left gotham and had been in Star City till yesterday.”
Kate went to mary who handed Kate something which peaked your curiousity, but you werent gonna pry you knew when the time was right Kate would do what her heart commanded.
~1 and a half years later... success had been accross yours and Kates features as you both were running sucessfully 3 businesses. the reopening of wayne tech had gone smoothly. then there was the real estate firm that Kate had been running before you got to gotham as well as a nightclub. a little excessive but its a welcome reprieve with a fully stocked bar. you and Kate were happily living in your penthouse together. you had left alot of it alone due to both of you missed Bruce and wanted him to be honored.~
Kate: “YN, did you put..”
YN: “top drawer in the middle cabinet, Kate did you...”
Kate: “its in your desk in the center drawer...”
you and Kate were functional working happy couple. this was to be the night of the wayne tech gala. you both had put one on as tghe grand reopening and now its a yearly thing. to showcase everything that is in development for the people of gotham.
Kate: “can you believe that its already been almost 2 years...”
YN: “can you believe that i never thought i would have ever been working for wayne tech again.”
kate: “can you believe that you are the most beautiful woman at this party.”
YN: “your not so bad yourself.”
Kate smiled as she came up behind you to help you do up your dress.
Kate: “do you think bruce would be proud of what we have done and are doing?”
YN: “i think whereever he is he is very proud of us... and even better he would be honored that we took this mantle and have upheld it for the good of the Wayne family legacy.”
thats when an intruder alert sounded. it was one of the silent alarms on the wayne manor property.
YN: “we should go as ourselves not in costume.”
Kate: “ill call Mary and Luke and have them stall for time at the gala. we will be there in plenty of time. but your right as usual.”
YN: “good thing we travel to impress.”
Kate: “we also travel combat ready... i get now why you always have slits in your dresses. lets go.”
Kate and you got onto Kates bike and drove off towards the detection. ah yes wayne manor now declared sacred land and only for family, it was unusual that someone would dare to venture onto the property.
upon arrival at the gate you and Kate parked and got off the bike leaving your helmets and hiding the valuables in the safe installed on the bike.
Kate: “keep your eyes open something isnt right.”
YN: “dont worry whatever it is we will make sure to handle this.”
Kate smiles and keeps you close while walking further onto the property. you remembered the last time you had been here before bruce left and disappeared.
Kate: “see anything yet?”
YN: “not yet... wait there is a light inside...”
you start running towards the house Kate follows in suit, you start going up the steps but stop as Kate comes up behind you and grabs your hand both of you walking up those stairs together.
Kate and you each opened one of the double doors, both of you walking inside the light seemingly brighter. you could hear rustling and creeking of floors. you and Kate wanted to charge in “guns” blazing but you were in civilian form not a good idea.
you both stop outside the door to the room, you hear a familiar voice. no it cant be...
Kate: “whoever that is, is going to be tried for trespassing...”
except you knew that voice... you knew who it was...
YN: “dont be rash babe, i recognize the voice.”
you open the door with Kate on your heels.
YN: “talia...”
the figure turns around and remves her hood.
Talia: “its been a long time YN. how have you been?”
YN: “to be fair its been a gong show... what with having just come back to gotham last night after being in star city for the last several years.”
Talia: “i guess it has been a long long time. whose your friend?”
Kate holds her hand towards talia and stands tall beside you.
Kate: “kate kane, im Bruce’s cousin. im as of 1 and a half years ago  YN’s  girlfriend.”
Talia shakes kates hand.
YN: “what are you doing here talia?”
Talia: “i mean no disrespect but something seemed wrong about Bruce disappearing. something felt wrong and if i can find out why it felt wrong then i can find out where Bruce disappeared to.”
YN: “keep us informed, we have an expo to get too.. we are so late...”
Kate: “if you wish there will be a ticket for you at the door Talia. it was very nice to meet you.”
Talia: “as it was to meet you Kate.”
You and Kate leave Talia to what she was doing and head back to the bike. Tears fell from your eyes thinking about Bruce and how proud he would be of both you and Kate.
Kate: "thinking about Bruce?"
YN: "I just wish he were here to see what we have accomplished. But let's get to the expo and reveal the plans for the developments that we have come up with."
Kate hands you your helmet before hse puts hers on as you both get back on the bike and head to the expo. Parking in the parking garage you make the notion that you both got dirt on your outfits.
Kate: "shit Mary is gonna kill us... She might have planned for something like this... Hold on let me..."
before kate could call Mary, mary rang Kate’s cell...
Kate: “Mary thank god its you listen YN and i had a little run in with some dirt both our outfits are no longer presentable do you have any spare outfits.”
Mary yells at luke and then speaks a moment.
mary: “meet me in the washrooms in the lobby... i will have them there shortly..”
you and Kate sneak your way through the corridors and head into the lobby washrooms. anxiously awaiting Mary’s arrival with your replacement outfits, you made sure that you kept a level head.
Kate: “you look a little tense love...”
YN: “i wanted this night to go smoooth and now we have to do a costume change only a few short moments before we have to be on stage for the toasts. this is not how this night was supposed to go...”
Kate: “not to worry, there is still plenty of time for things to go right.”
Mary walks in a while later, you look at Kate with anticipation for the way that you were hoping this night would go was not what it seemed.
Mary: okay whose first for their outfit change...
Kate: just give me the outfits Mary, you and Luke need to make sure no one comes in here for a few moments while we get changed... once we are changed ill knock on the door and you and come and collect the outfits.
Mary: that sounds do-able. just both of you hurry up people are asking for you, important people.
you and Kate were not sure who could be out there but you both were certain that this night was gonna be a rocking good time.
getting into your clean outfits you both realize that you both are wearing your costume colors. Kate knocks on the door once you both are presentable, mary walks in.
Mary: you both look spectacular!
Kate: ya in our costume colors what is going on?
Mary: luke developed a microchip to change anything into your costumes its like a portable solution. but these are just incase of any ruckass. which we are hoping there wont be but just in case here they are.
Kate: what if we just want to be normal for one night?
Mary reaches into the neckline of Kates shirt and your bra line on your dress and pulls out the microchips.
Mary: if you both change your minds i have the chips now go  you both are due for your speech in a few moments.
you and kate go out of the washroom, arriving in the ballroom to be greeted by dignitaries and just in time to be called up on stage. politely excusing yourselves you both walk up on stage.
Kate: whats up gotham city. thank you all so much for coming out tonight. this year so far is really big and productive for the company. i cant believe its been almost 2 years since me and YN brought wayne tech back to life. if bruce wayne were here today, to see what we have done he would be very proud of everything we are doing to keep this legacy alive. the silent auction will run all night the winner will be contacted by telephone and by email. the prizes will be availble for drop off or pick up at wayne tech. now i am gonna turn the mic over to my business partner and girlfriend YN.
YN: thanks kate, so as you all have seen around the room are some of the plans to refurbish some of the wings at arkham as well as build a secure wing for those more deadly super criminals. our goal is to create a more secure enviroment as well as give the orderlies more space for any other crazies that may pop up or have to go to arkham thanks to the donations of you Gotham we almost have the funds to start the arkham asylum expansion project.
Kate: before we sign off for the evening i have something i would like to do. bare with me i have not put alot of thought into this but here it goes.
Kate turns to you taking your hand in her own.
Kate: Yn you and i have taken Wayne tech and brought it back from the dust and shadows like a phoenix in rebirth but tonight as we boht stand before all of gotham i have a question for you, this night at this gala i want to know. Will you YN marry me?
she then got down on one knee and held a ring box to you open to a rose gold entwined celtic knot band with a emerald cut stone in the center. your face went pretty fast from shock to a face of happy complete utter joy.
YN: yes!
was all you managed to squeak out.  kate placed the ring on your finger and kissed you before holding both your hands up for the press to see the gripped shot of the engagement ring.
you were not sure what else would come out of your mouth. thats when luke stepped onto the stage with mary. both of them bringing you and kate some champagne.
mary: waiters are coming around with champagne will you all please join me in raising a toast to YN and Kate  the best people for the right jobs at the right moments. we are honored to be in your debt. to YN and Kate.
the toast made, the congratulations flowed in, the press all over your engagement. even the crows offered congratulations.

Idea: MC and Alex have a nice moment in Hades season 3 when Aphrodite says she can send for someone to come and comfort her, and instead of May or her mother she asks for Alex. Put a read more bc it’s long and is going underneath the lovestruck tag lol.
Imagine...MC saying she wants Alex to comfort her in Hades season 3 when May came when Aphrodite said Who did she want to see???? Like instead of saying her mom or May...she asks for Hades but when Aphrodite says she can’t see him...she asks for Alex instead...she’s broken and needs the comfort of her best friend, the comfort she’s felt for years, the comfort she feels when she sees them every morning, the comfort she feels when they pat or head or ruffle her hair bc they’re older than her...and she needs it right now. And
like...imagining Alex being summoned to Olympus wasn’t really a surprise or out of the ordinary because their mother is the goddess of love and I imagine they visit her sometimes on a regular basis.
SO, it didn’t seem too weird for them to be summoned there, but when they see their mother, she has a look of worry on her face and sadness, and Alex realizes they weren’t called up there for no reason. They knew about the Hera situation, so it did worry them and their heart began to race because they feared the worse. However, Aphrodite eases their worries just a bit when she says she is technically safe, but needs to see someone and that she summoned them. Alexs heart slows down but it still feels heavy at imagining her in this pain and fear. The kind of pain that they’ve worked to avoid for her or to help her deal with...and now it’s time to help and, hopefully, soothe.
They get escorted to Aphrodite’s estate (I can’t remember where she was exactly-) and MC’s sitting on the couch in the main room (I guess living room) with her face held in her hands, facing the ground. But she looked up when heard Aphrodite’s heels and she tries to smile but it stops a bit short, her mouth shaking as if it hurts to smile. “I bet everything hurts...” is said in their mind. They want to rush over to her but hold back and sit down next to her. They’ve both turned a little bit and their knees are touching, but they can’t even care about that. They look her in the eye and notice her eyes are a bit red and very puffy. “She’s been crying so much...,” is said in their mind. They stare at her for a moment in silence, not sure about how to start. They hold up the professionalism because they don’t know what she wants to do, but she breaks it immediately when she pulls them into a tight hug, and they hug her back. And to make their heart hurt even more, when she lays her cheek against their shoulder, when her hyperventilating breaths reach their neck, when her tears fall onto their shoulder, she begins to talk in a broken and hoarse voice.
“Alex...what do I do?” She’s questioning them but also not at the same time, as if she knows they won’t have an answer. And she’s right. They don’t know how to respond immediately, their thoughts are in a rush as well, trying to comfort her but not go too far. They think about their words as their heart continues to break with every sob. “Stay strong, which I know you’re very good at, MC,” they say, trying to tease her a bit even if their voice wavers as well. She lets out a little laugh in between her sobs and fast breaths. “Everybody should know that by now, but stubbornness isn’t going to get me out of this one. It will only dig my grave even deeper.” The mention of a grave makes their heart drop even more because gods she might die and neither of them know what to do. They’re both sitting ducks. However, they drop the walls they have and actually speak their heart to her, but still somehow keeping it in a best friend way. They pull away from her, arms still wrapped around her, and she lifts her head up and they see dried tears on her cheeks. They take one hand and wipe both of her cheeks and then wrap their arm back around her waist.
“MC, I know this is a very scary time for you, and I know I probably will never understand all the pain you’re going through, but you’re so strong to have made it this far. I may not know everything that’s happening, and I know it may get harder, but I’ve never seen you waver in strength. When you started working here and were surprised to see me giving the interview, you still took it with confidence and gathered everything together,” they tell her, their heart truly coming out. However, they hesitate with the next words they want to get out. “And this may be a painful memory, and I’m sorry to bring it up, but remember when all the gods and goddesses went missing? You were so brave. Even before they went missing, you solved Astraeus’s puzzle, tried to warn the gods, survived both attacks, protected yourself, Hades, and Persephone with your strength, got Selene and Helios on our side, faced Astraeus himself, got the titan blood we needed, and you did so many amazing things, MC.” Their voice was strong during these words, and then they wiped her tears once more, and their heart began to beat faster when she finally smiled at them, even if it wasn’t a full smile, she was still smiling, and that’s something they’re always happy to see.
She leaned forward and rested her forehead against their own and closed her eyes. “Thank you so much, Alex. My words are failing me right now, but you’ve always been my best friend, and you still are, and thank you for being here today. Thank you for everything,” she said with her voice shaking as more tears managed to fall down her cheeks. She then let out a little hiccup and laughed but finished her feelings with, “And maybe when this is over we can all be together and have fun and catch up and be happy, yeah?” She opened her eyes and they could see that little sparkle show back up in her eyes and could sense the love she had for them, even if it wasn’t the same love that they radiated, but it didn’t matter what kind of love she gave towards them, any love was a blessing and they smiled and nodded their head.
“I would love that, MC. We got this.”
HNNNG!! I LOVE THEMMM! AND HOW MUCH THEY LOVE HER!!! And I want some more Alex and MC being best friends content and hMMM!!! I love them so much and they all deserve happinesssss. I mean they get it in every route, but stilllll I love seeing Alex and MC interact bc they never can be just a boss and an agent to one another because UGH they LOVE her and she LOVES them too in a different way but still😭😭. Hmmm...I love Alex so much and Idk if there was an option for them but I wish there was and we could actually get Alex bc OOF that’d be SO good and so sad but so perfect. Alex loves her and to see her in this much pain (but of course she would be, they understand why, and they can sense her heart breaking (they are the child of Aphrodite and can sense love) and it hurts them too)....hurts and hnnng. I had this idea at like midnight and it hurts bc ALEXXX!!!

I just finished watching the X-Files and I have a lot of thoughts
Yes it’s 2021 and I’ve finally finished a show I should have seen ages ago. Normally I might make a YouTube video with all my thoughts but I feel like doing something more immediate and since no one I know has seen it...here I go.
Going in nearly blind (besides knowing “Mulder’s the believer and Scully’s the skeptic” thank you ATS, Mulder/Scully is one of the quintessential ships of fandom history, and there was a reboot or something a couple years ago) I found myself rather hooked from the beginning. I enjoyed the practical effects, the seasons-long mysteries (though sometimes not knowing the answers got frustrating), and the way the show managed to stay fresh for its original 9 season run. It was definitely a well-crafted show with a good balance of monster of the week episodes (further divided into procedural monster of the week - your average monster/witch/freak of science killing random people - and character-based monster of the week - the haunted house on Christmas is the first episode that comes to mind) and lore/mythology building episodes (everything tying back to the alien conspiracy aka anything that said “Written by Chris Carter”)
I can see where the Mulder/Scully chatter has come from. I was definitely shipping them very early on, and not just in a “ooh they’re rivals so of course I’m gonna ship them” kind of way I was expecting going in. They are one of those examples of fictional soulmates, platonic, romantic, two people who are essential in the others’ lives. They are the epitome of “the best romances come from people who work well together”. Literally. They balance each other, even when sometimes the roles would get flipped. You need a logician and you need a believer in your search of The Truth. I also appreciated overall it seemed an equal balance between each of the pair getting “damseled”. It wasn’t Mulder saving Scully all the time (another thing I was kind of expecting). The one thing I’m still puzzling over is which one I would consider the one main protagonist, if I had to choose. My gut says Scully, she’s the audience insert brought into this fantastical world who grows to open her mind a little. But by the end, it’s Mulder who has all his questions answered, his purpose for coming to the X-files complete. Mostly. Pretty much. There’s always another conspiracy, though.
I will stand by my early observation that my absolute favorite parts of the show are Scully’s right arching eyebrow and Mulder’s inability to function like a normal human when she’s out of the office. I never thought I’d get emotional over pencils stuck to the ceiling but it happened.
And now a rundown of thoughts on all the main characters...
Mulder: Two things I said most often to the TV: “you cheeky little shit, you’re gonna get yourself killed” and “oh honey I want to give you a hug!” I also wish I had done a little more BTS research besides figuring out where and when to watch the 2 movies because that would have saved my two season litany of “he’s gotta come back, they wouldn’t kill one of the main characters off offscreen, he’s written and directed episodes, I would have heard at some point if he got fired, Chris Carter’s just pulling a conspiracy of his own, he’s fucking with the audience by pulling him off the credits, right right RIGHT?” and then I should have figured out the reboot was LITERALLY STILL THEM so that would have saved my The Truth litany of “well all his mysteries are solved so I guess his arc’s complete, it’s a supernatural show so I GUESS you can kill off one of the mains in the finale, but there’s too much build up to save him, I would have heard about it if it had THAT kind of ending, right right RIGHT?”
Scully: Two things I said most often to the TV: “Yes you go girl!” and “oh honey I want to give you a hug!” Gillian gets all the credit for wearing those fucking heels for that long and probably didn’t get paid enough for it (though I appreciated their little callout to it in the movie episode). I’m glad they only went to the mystical pregnancy well once, though the build-up was a little too heavy-handed. I can’t wait to rewatch and see the gradual development of her knowledge and understanding, so much so that by the time it becomes her and Doggett as the team, Scully is absolutely without question the “Mulder”.
I also would say, about both of them, that they need a vacation...which they did get...probably not the vacation I was hoping for them.
And now for many less thoughts about the rest:
Skinner: flip-flopped maybe a couple too many times for my liking. Wish we knew a little more about him. Definitely the first person to ship the two of them.
The Lone Gunmen:
AKA “ahh it’s my boys!” (me squealing every time I saw their actors’ names appear in the credits). Nice little extension of the team and interesting to see technology from “back then”. Loved how they used their stories as little breathers after really heavy two-parters.
Frohike: adorable little grump who knows his kung fu
Langly: did he just choose not to cut his hair for 9 years or did they not let him?
Byers: marry me
Smoking Man: or whatever nickname you want to call him. Yes, I know they revealed his name but I’m not bothered to look it up now. The definition of “you aren’t dead in a supernatural show unless you die on screen” (though he goes and breaks that trope too because hey fan service!). Had me saying “ugh this bitch” every time he appeared on screen so I guess he got the job done.
Krycek: also had me saying “ugh this bitch” and I wish I didn’t learn his actor’s name so early on so I would be more surprised when he showed up in later seasons. I think he worked pretty well as a secondary bad guy and is another I’ll be watching more for in my rewatch.
Marita: grew more tired of her the longer she stayed on. Became less interesting when she was revealed to be in with the Syndicate. Nice to have another female character, though.
Jeffrey Spender: my catchphrase with him was “I wanna slap his little weasel face”. I figured out who he was before it was revealed, though that I blame on my ability to recognize actors...unless it was supposed to be an easy enough twist to figure out? (I guess the actor made enough of an impression in the “greatest hits of Smoking Man: America’s assassin” episode for them to want to keep him around). Did not like him one bit until Season 9. Then my thoughts were mainly “JEFF!? They’re entrusting the safety of William to JEFF!?”
William: okay the episode “William” was pretty much me saying “what the FUCK was that?” and I’m mad I didn’t figure out the Jeffrey twist that time. As for the character, kid deserves better. I was waiting for a Once Upon a Time style knock on the door “hey, I think you’re my mom” at some point but NOPE he had a purpose and they were sticking to it! The ambiguous powers (AKA which came first, this or Stranger Things 2?) were a little annoying, I suppose, but there wasn’t enough time, or interest, to explore it all. Also, pandemic? That sure hit differently to a viewer today than it would have a couple years ago holy shit.
Doggett: didn’t like him at first, which I guess you’re not supposed to, but then he turned into a big old teddy bear. Whatever happened to him? Dude deserved a shout-out in the reboot.
Reyes: loved her from the start, a different kind of “Mulder”. HATE what they did to her in the reboot. I thought she and Doggett were supposed to live happily ever after.
Okay, I think I’m pretty much out of thoughts for now. Excuse me as I start watching all over again, free of some of this “what’s gonna happen next?” anxiety since I now know where it’s all going.

Salty Outcasts - Chapter 3
Chloe
Chloé woke with a pounding headache, grabbing some paracetamol, she checked the time. 11am. Damn. She had slept her Saturday morning away. She changed into her usual outfit but without her flashy, diamond-studded belt. Another look around her room, and Chloé walked to the empty lift. The Grand Paris had lost about a third of its business since… it happened.
“Good morning Chloé.”
“Good morning Mother.”
“Chloé.” Her father didn’t even look up from his newspaper.
“Father.” What gave him the right to act like this? Mother was mean and ruthless, but she had never committed a crime. Father on the other hand, he had bribed his way into power and honestly no-one would be surprised if he were helping Hawkmoth. What gave him the right to act as if he was somehow more moral, or a better person? Chloé was seething as she sat as far from the Mayor as possible while being at the same table.
The silence was painful to all. Even Jean-whatever looked uncomfortable from the other side of the room.
Audrey Bourgeois sighed, “This is my fault.” Chloé raised an eyebrow, this was new. “Chloé, I was no mother to you, and I should have raised you better.” Andre looked like he wanted to intervene before she raised a hand to placate him. “By no means am I excusing you of your behaviour.”
“I should hope not.” Audrey gave her husband a small glare before continuing.
“But I am still at some fault. I will be a better mother to you. I promise. And darling, I’m sorry.”
Chloé nodded and opened her mouth to reply but Andre beat her to it. “Sorry? You’re sorry? Why are you sorry? She… she is a damn TERRORIST.”
“She is your daughter.” Chloé started to silently cry.
“Not anymore.” Andre got up from the table not sparing a glance at the younger blonde and only nodding at his wife as he made his way up to his office.
Sobbing, Chloé ran out the hotel’s double doors leaving Audrey to wonder what the hell had happened to her already dysfunctional family.
*
Alix skated past the Couffaine houseboat, second guessing the absolute trust she had put in her future self. ‘Go to the Seine.’ Alix scoffed. ‘To quote Uncle Iroh, sometimes the best way to solve your problems is to help someone else.’ She had been happy violently spray painting while beating herself up about not standing up for Marinette sooner, but no, future!Me just had to give me advice, who am I meant to be helping anyway?
She almost scoffed again before realising she was starting to sound a lot like a certain blonde heiress, who she was sitting by the Seine? On the ground? Well something must be wrong.
“Yo, Chloé, what’s up?
“Go away, Kubdel. Don’t you have hair to dye and skates to ugh I don’t know”
“Well someone’s off her game today, want to talk about it?”
“I don’t need your pity, Kubdel.”
“I don’t pity you Chloé, and I never will. You have made too many mistakes and hurt too may of the people I care about for me to find it in myself to pity you. But, I’m not heartless. You are in pain and so I am going to help, so I’ll ask you one more time, do you want to talk about it?” Alix’s tone was harsh and unforgiving, snapping the disgraced hero out of her thoughts.
Nodding, Chloé waited for Alix to sit beside her. “My father said I wasn’t his daughter anymore.”
“Woah, that, that is bad.” At Chloé’s muffled sob, she clarified, “I meant bad parenting, every kid makes mistakes, some bigger then others, but either war he should be there for you and help you grow not turn you away the second you put a mark on his perfect reputation.”
Chloé snickered, “Oh trust me, his reputation is far from perfect.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, but people at least think he’s a good guy even if he is as corrupt as Hawkmoth,” Alix raised an eyebrow at this assessment, few people would compare their father to Paris’ emotional terrorist. “I, on the other hand, am trying to do good for once in my life and everyone still sees me as a villain.”
“No-one sees you as a villain, just a bratty rich kid.” Alix’s joke fell flat as Chloé got to her feet and stared at the skater, face red with fury.
“My father called me a terrorist.” Her voice was deadly, but low enough to avoid drawing in any onlookers. It took Alix a few seconds to overcome the shock that any father would say something like that. Try as she might, she couldn’t imagine her old man even thinking such a thing.
“I’m sorry,” She whispered.
“I mean is it even worth it?”
“Yes! Yes it is.” Alix stood up, placing a hand on Chloé’s shoulder, her eyes were filled with fury, though none of it was directed at the blonde.
A bike bell sounded behind her breaking Alix’s intense glare and saving Chloé from burning under it. Turning around, the two girls saw a teal-tipped boy cycle towards them.
Luka smiled, immediately calming them down, skipping normal greetings to give Chloé a side hug and some advice.
“To quote uncle Iroh,” Alix frowned at that, again? Seriously? Yes, he is one inspirational guy, but two people in one morning? “It’s time for you to look inward, and begin asking yourself the big questions: who are you? And what do you want?”
“I, I don’t know.”
“That’s alright, you don’t have to know just yet.” Luka smiled again. “I’m guessing you both skipped breakfast this morning.” He took their silence as a yes, “Let’s go to Marinette’s bakery, they have great croissants.”
“Sure you don’t just wanna see Marinette?” Alix nudged Luka, who instantly went a shade of red that rivalled Ladybug’s suit.
“Maybe.” The girls laughed a little, dragging the blushing boy behind them as they set out to the bakery.

Hey everyone. This might be the last chapter I post for a while. Just have not had the headspace for writing of any kind the past few months. Wish I could blame it on the pandemic but I can't really, I think my brain's just broken haha. But I will try to do some more work on it soon, I promise. Until then I hope you all take care of yourselves and have a great Halloween!
=Chapter 22
Arriving in school on Monday morning felt quite strange to Weiss. Like it was somewhere she didn’t belong anymore. The hallways were the same, the teachers and bells to signal each class starting, the dreary atmosphere of students who wished they could be out having fun instead of toiling away. But she felt like a different person than she had been - as if she had outgrown that environment. Technically, she knew that was true in the sense that she would soon be going off to college.
Where would that leave her Dragons status? Where would that leave her and Yang? The future was generally something she never had to contemplate before. Given her father's relentless pushing, she expected to go to school for business and segue into a position at Schnee Communications - eventually taking over the reins when he retired. Now, that might not even be a possibility anymore if her parents wound up divorcing each other. Her father certainly wasn't going to have much interest in grooming her to take his place after all that had happened! For the first time in her life, the future was scary instead of exciting.
A hand on her shoulder startled her from her deep thoughts. Turning, she saw Pyrrha smiling at her, the picture of stalwart friendship.
“Did I lose you for a minute there?”
“Sorry,” Weiss whispered as they continued on toward class. “Feels like I'm losing my mind. How did my life turn into this? Did I really do something that awful to cost me my whole future?”
“Wow, those are deep thoughts. May I make a suggestion?” When Weiss didn't respond, she bowed her head very slightly as they walked. “Focus on the here and now. Don't worry about what you can't change because you can't. Do your best in school, check in on Yang. Help your mother through this difficult time. I… know I can't fully understand what you've been through, but driving yourself crazy about it won't solve anything, will it?”
“But my own father tried to hurt me! Tried to hurt both of us! How am I just supposed to get over that?”
Pyrrha's smile slipped away as if it had never been there. “You're right. Gosh, it's such a terrible thing… I'm sorry. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.”
“No… you're right. I should be the one to apologize. This whole situation is insane, and here you are, doing your best to help me through it and I'm just… ugh. Don't pay any attention to me.”
By then, they were in the classroom and needed to be quiet. Weiss continued to contemplate her life throughout the period, chewing on the end of her pencil while her mind raced around in useless circles. There was really nothing she could do. Eventually, she focused on her work, as Pyrrha had suggested; maybe she had a good point. At the very least, it made her feel as if she had purpose.
Between classes, she found Blake waiting for her at her locker. The Italian Dragon seemed to have a lot on her mind, as well.
“Is something wrong?” she asked immediately.
“Not really. Except… well, Mom didn't make it home until really late last night. This… never mind. Maybe that's none of my business to ask about.”
At that, Weiss couldn't help grinning from ear-to-ear. “Ohhhh. A little worried, are we? I didn't think you got worried.”
“Shut up, Schnee. Do you know what happened or not? She was tired and ignored my questions.”
“She was helping my mother. As it turns out, there were a lot of financial papers and things to sort through, but she thinks she might have a way to help us keep our house. Even if Father leaves us. Not that I understand all of it - or most of it, even. But it’s promising.”
That certainly shut Blake up for a moment. She leaned back against the locker, staring down at her boots and mulling that over in her head. Weiss expected her to reply eventually, but when she never did, she leaned against the neighboring locker alongside her friend.
“The two of them seemed to be getting along famously. It's… strange to think about your parents having friends, the same way we have friends. Is it kooky for me to hope they keep getting along?”
“Hmm…” Blake held her chin in her hand. “My mom is pretty… friendly. Oh well.” Trying to waft that subject away, she asked, “Heard from Yang?”
“Not yet,” she sighed. “Kali said she would escort me over there tonight, so her mother doesn't try to choke me again.”
“Wild,” she laughed, and Weiss smiled. After a few seconds of that shared moment stretched on, she said, “Hey. Sorry about being such a… I don't know. Whatever it is I am all the time. Annoying, negative, grouchy. Especially with everything you have going on at home. That’s terrible, and I probably wasn’t helping.”
She waved a hand to dismiss the sentiment. “It's alright.”
“It's not. You're pretty cool, Daddio.”
The unexpected praise only made her grin widen further. Blake rolled her eyes and immediately walked away, clearly not wanting to confront so many emotions in one day. But it couldn't erase the truth: little by little, the Dragons really were accepting her as one of their own.
-------------------------------
At lunch, Weiss only stopped by the table where her new friends congregated for a brief moment, to check in and assure them everything was alright. Then she made a beeline for the one up front where she expected to find…
“Ruby!”
The girl started again before flashing a nervous little smile. “Oh, hey, Weiss! Here you are again! Talking to me! For… some reason!”
“Because you're my friend,” she told her with a patient little smile as she sat down. “Listen… I don't know if you heard about it, but Yang…”
“Oh.” Her silver eyes pointed down at the table. “That. Yeah, Uncle Qrow told me. He still has contacts in that old crowd of his.”
“Really?” Penny asked, reminding them that she was also at the table. “What did he tell you?”
“The accident really wasn't that bad,” Weiss pressed in a quiet voice, reaching over to pat Ruby's forearm. “She got a bunch of bruises and scratches, and dislocated her shoulder. As long as she takes it easy on that shoulder for a little while, she should heal up right as rain in no time. I promise.”
Ruby breathed a sigh of relief. “That's good. I know she hates me, but I really do worry about her, y’know?”
“Don’t say that. Yang doesn’t hate you at all. She’s just…” How could she put this that wouldn’t make things seem worse than they were? Luckily, she had put a lot of thought into what she was going to say, even if she was second-guessing herself now. “I think - and maybe I’m wrong, so don’t blame me if I am - I think her mother has really poisoned her against you and your uncle. She seems to see everyone but Yang as the enemy. So even though she doesn’t hate you, I think she feels like talking to you or him is some kind of… I don’t know. Betrayal?”
“Yeah, maybe.” She sounded a lot smaller now. “Thanks for stopping by. I’ll… think about that, I guess?”
Why did she have the feeling she was being dismissed? “Oh. I, um, I can go if you want.”
“Don’t you want to? I mean, didn’t you come over here to tell me about Yang? You told me. I don’t want to make you hang around here any longer than you needed to.”
“What?” Her sullen demeanor suddenly made a lot of sense; she thought Weiss was only hanging around her to talk about Yang. Which was near enough true, all things considered, even though she had begun to think of her as a friend beyond that single connection. “Ohhh… oh, Ruby, it’s not like that. I just… I thought you would be concerned about your sister, that’s all.”
“Not really. She doesn’t like me, so what’s the point?” Her tone of voice betrayed her true feelings; she was trying not to care.
“Why do you think no one likes you? I do, and so does Yang. I’m really sorry if that didn’t come across.” Then she reached over to gently shake her by the shoulder. “Hey. Let’s go over to Yang’s tonight.”
Her eyes went round as she glanced up at Weiss. “Ohhhh that’s a bad idea. You thought it was bad when her mom pointed that gun at you - wait until you see what she’ll do to me! Ever since Summer stole Dad, she thought I was a waste of space!”
She wanted to argue against that mentality, but she couldn’t. How could she know Raven’s inner thoughts? Or Summer’s - especially since she was no longer alive? But she didn’t want to wait until she understood everything before intervening in what she saw as a grave injustice.
“No.”
“What?”
“Nope, those aren’t reasons to not visit your sister,” she said firmly, hands on her hips. It made her elbow gouge into Penny’s side, but the firmness of her stance was more important at the moment. “We’re going.”
“What if I don’t want to?” she said softly, looking away.
“We both know that isn’t true. And I know that Yang wants to see you, even if you don’t know it - even if Yang doesn’t know it. We’ll go with Kali; she seems to be pretty good at keeping Raven from roughing anyone up.”
Blinking, she whispered, “Who’s Kali?”
“Oh - it’s, um, it’s Blake Belladonna’s mother.”
“You call her mom by her first name? Wow… the Dragons really are crazy hep cats.”
-------------------------------
The minute classes ended, Weiss approached Blake and asked her if it would be alright if they went to her house after cheer practice let out. Though she was sneering very slightly at Ruby the whole time - who seemed to magically shrink from the attention - she relented. They had a little problem, now: how could they all get over there on a single motorcycle?
Pyrrha solved that problem. They followed Blake there in her car. Weiss opted to sit in the backseat with Ruby, explaining beforehand to her friend that the girl was nervous and would need more support.
“So,” Pyrrha began, glancing into the rearview mirror as they turned a gentle curve. “I’ve been wondering about something.”
“What?” Weiss asked.
“No, about Ruby.” The girl started at being addressed. “Why do you wear that hooded shirt in school? It isn’t exactly fashionable. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course! I’m merely curious.”
Her arms wrapped around the red cotton garment. “It used to belong to my parents. Dad gave it to Mom when they were in school, and she left it to me when she died.”
“Oh,” Weiss breathed.
“Oh?” Pyrrha asked. But she caught the sad look in Ruby’s eyes via the reflection and didn’t dare comment further.
Weiss knew her best friend would rather die herself than make someone else uncomfortable, so she tried to fill the void in the conversation. “It looks very warm. Does… it keep you warm?”
“Yeah,” Ruby breathed. Sensing they weren’t sure what else to say, she tried for a weak little smile. “Hey, it’s okay. It’s been a long time since we lost her. It’s just hard, having no parents; Uncle Qrow is great, but he can’t replace my dad, or my mom. But it only hurts when I really sit there and think about it, y’know?”
The other two nodded, not sure what else to say on the subject. Maybe it was best left alone.
Kali fawned over Ruby as much as Weiss expected. The unexpected bit was that she didn’t flirt with her. Flirting was such a prominent part of the woman’s personality that she had begun to suspect she didn’t know how to turn it off. Apparently, that wasn’t the case.
“She’s a girl,” Kali whispered back when confronted with that, while they were fetching drinks from the kitchen. Blake had been glaring at Ruby when they ducked out, but Pyrrha helped to distract her while Ruby called her uncle to let her know where she was and what she was doing. “Honestly, Weiss, what must you think of me?”
“Doesn’t seem to stop you from flirting with me, does it?”
“No, you’re a woman. A young one, but a woman nonetheless. That poor child out there is not ready for that kind of teasing and I wouldn’t dream of attempting it, even as a joke. Could use a mother as much as you could.” As she handed her the pitcher of lemonade and began to fetch tumblers, she said, “Besides, I’ve barely ruffled your feathers and we both know it.”
Stamping her foot, she snapped, “You said you would ‘make me see stars’!”
“Yes, but I didn’t actually do it, now, did I? Nor did I take you to any quiet, secluded spots at Lookout Point, nor did I offer a massage of dubious platonicness.” Her hand paused mid-movement. “Is that a word? ‘Platonicness’? Oh well, unimportant.”
Weiss supposed that was true. Even though she had been flirting fairly heavily, it never quite approached the level of seriousness that Yang's flirtations had. They were more on par with Blake’s - which she supposed made sense, since they were related. Rather forward compared to the few boys who had flirted with her, but also half in jest. If she had to put her finger on the reason it felt stronger from Kali, it was because the older woman was so much more confident than the girls her own age. Maybe she had been reading too much into those situations, after all.
And maybe it didn't matter anymore. Unless she had missed her guess, Blake's mother now had designs on her own. What an insane development! But again, she could just be seeing things that weren't there. Kali had also been very kind to Pyrrha and Yang, and any other young Dragon whom she deemed lacking in the parental affection department. She was a very warm and loving woman all around.
“I'm not really sure,” Ruby said between sips of her lemonade, once they were all seated comfortably in the living room. Although Blake looked a little bit less comfortable than the others - but then again, she always seemed on edge unless it was just the younger Dragons hanging out at Shopkeeper’s. “But I think he was already out by the time I went to live with him. So was Yang's mom.”
“That part, I know quite well,” Kali muttered, more to herself than anything. Weiss winced; none of them really wanted to dig into that topic too deeply at all. “I do remember what Qrow was like when he left to rejoin the Huntsmen, but completely lost track of him after that.”
The girl's narrow shoulders shrugged. “No idea. But this is pretty weird, being with people from my dad's old gang. Have… you heard from him?”
The anxiousness in Ruby’s features made Kali answer in a gentler tone. “Sorry. I wish I could say differently, but the last I heard of Taiyang was when he stepped down as High Dragon, and then when he and Raven split up.”
“I'm glad they did, or they wouldn't have been able to make me,” she joked feebly.
“That's very true. I think it was best for everyone involved - including making sure I got to meet such a little sweetheart.” Ruby's smile widened, and she laughed. “See?”
Blake rolled her eyes and folded her arms over her chest. “Yeah, yeah, what a kitten. You still haven't answered my question, Mom.”
“Blake…” With a heavy sigh, she turned her attention to her daughter, hands folded in her lap. Apparently, she hadn’t wanted any lemonade for herself. “I did. Raven would probably only accept Ruby coming into her house because she's family. I thought you could glean from it that you coming along would be unwise.”
“But I want to see her! How is it fair that you guys can go check on my best friend but I can't? How?! Ruby's her sister, sure, but who the hell are you? Or Weiss? Or this other redhead?”
Holding up both of her hands in self-defense, Pyrrha flashed her a weak smile. “Oh, I agree with you; it's not my place to go in and visit your friend. I'll either head straight home from here, or wait outside.”
“Good,” she grumbled.
“But don't you think you're being a little unfair to Weiss? She and Yang have become very close. I know she would bring you along if it were up to her, but it isn't. It's up to Yang's mother.”
The irritation only seemed to deepen in Blake's features, but at least it had a new direction. “Damn her… who does she think she is, deciding who Yang can talk to? The Queen of England?”
“You really don't have to do all this for me,” Ruby put in with an awkward squirm, uncomfortable at Blake resenting her for her ‘spot’ on the guest list. “I'm nobody to you.”
“You're my friend,” Weiss insisted. “I know we've only talked a few times, and… that's my fault. There's just been so much going on, and I've been neglecting Pyrrha…”
The minute she was named, the Greek athlete giggled nervously. “Hey, I haven't felt neglected! Well… not much. And I know you can't help it; you never asked for your father to be such a- that is, for what's happened to happen. Please don’t think my feeling left out means I actually blame you for it, especially when we still see each other fairly often. Things will settle down soon; I’m sure of it.”
Her hand went to the bandage covering the welt on her cheek. “I hope so. Still, it's no excuse to forget about my friends - all my friends.” She stood with her hands on her hips. “Ruby Rose!”
“U-uh, yes? What?”
“You will come with Pyrrha and I to my house after we visit Yang!”
The silver eyes went wider in surprise. “I will? I mean, um, y-yeah! That sounds… great?” She glanced at Pyrrha as if for support, but the taller teenager only shrugged. “Yeah! Though I'm not really sure… why?”
“Didn't I make that clear? You're my friend, and I want you to start feeling like it. We could go to the malt shop instead, if you would rather. I just…” She swallowed hard before she continued. “You were right; even though you didn’t say it, I’ve only been talking to you because you’re Yang’s sister, and that isn’t fair.”
“Oh, no, I never-”
“So we’re going to be real friends from now on. That’s final!”
This time, Ruby was a little bemused along with her confusion. “Um… okay. Okay, good! Sounds neato keen - let’s get a malted after we visit Yang!”
“Or - we could go get one now, and then bring it to Yang! Couldn’t we?” Looking unsure, she turned to Kali. “Could we?”
Chuckling at Weiss’s enthusiasm, Mrs. Belladonna stood again and began to shoo the girls toward the kitchen. “I’ll show you how to make them right here, so we won’t even have to steal the diner’s glasses. I’m afraid they’ll have to all be chocolate; I don’t have any strawberries on hand. But I always have plenty of Ovaltine.”
That made Ruby’s face light up even brighter. “Oh my gosh! I love Ovaltine! So rich and chocolatey! I always imagine that I’m sharing a glass with Little Orphan Annie herself…”
Though Weiss could just barely catch the words “What a square” from Blake, muttered very quietly, she also noticed the hesitant smile on her lips. Ruby could probably win just about anyone over.
-------------------------------
Fighting their way into Raven’s home went a lot smoother than it had the last time. She still threatened them with a butcher knife, and they had to wait for her and Kali to finish their staring contest before they could be let through. Ruby’s insistence that the malts were melting seemed to help, against all reasoning. After an even more sour glare pointed down in the younger girl’s direction, the woman lowered the knife and stomped into her kitchen without so much as a word.
“That’s going to keep being a problem,” Kali sighed as they walked through.
“Yes, it is.” Weiss perked up slightly and stopped. “Is that… Johnny Mathis coming from the kitchen?” The instant she mentioned it, the music stopped. “Never mind.”
As they kept moving again, Kali whispered, “Raven’s a lot more sentimental than she wanted anyone to know. I’d always catch her singing old standards when she thought no one was listening, like ‘The Way You Look Tonight’, ‘Cheek To Cheek’ - and all the Dragons loved Billie Holiday in those days.” Her eyes softened. “I thought that sentimentality got bled out of her, but maybe…”
Then they were edging into Yang’s room. The bedridden Dragon looked morose, gazing up at the ceiling, but more or less the same in terms of her physical health. Seeing them leaning in through the doorway changed her face completely, and she lit up like a Christmas tree.
“Weiss! Mrs. B., what’s- how did you get in here?”
“Through the front door, silly,” Kali laughed. “You have another visitor, too.”
“Really? Where?”
They both ducked back out and found Ruby had hung back. She looked about as terrified as she had facing down Raven with a knife, which really said something. Kali wrapped an arm around her and nudged her into the room.
“U-uhh, I, uhh…”
Yang’s face changed again, and this time not for the better. The best way Weiss could think of to describe it would be that all the light faded; she wasn’t angry, or upset, but her enthusiasm for their visit was gone. “Oh. Hi, Ruby.”
“Malted.”
“What?”
“Oh, I, um…” She brought the chilled glass out from behind her back. “We brought you s-something to cheer you up. It’s chocolate! I… I don’t know, do you like chocolate?”
“It’s fine,” she answered shortly. Behind Ruby’s back, Weiss motioned for Yang to keep going. “Thanks, I guess.”
Disappointed in that being the best she could do, Weiss could only look on hopelessly as Ruby squeaked, “Here! Y-you can have it and I’ll get out of your hai-”
Boy, did she let her have it.
In hindsight, they should have been able to predict it would happen. Ruby tripped over her own clumsy feet and dumped the entire chocolate milkshake onto Yang. Her face, hair, clothes, the bedsheets beneath her, all became coated in frothy, sweet dairy. There were even a few splatters on the wall behind her. Yang could do nothing but blink, stunned beyond words.
Time stood still for a second or two before Ruby blinked herself, kneeling on the floor with the now-empty glass between her hands. Then she squeaked, “OH! Oh no! What- I didn’t- oh no oh no oh no, I’m sorry! Gee whiz, what’s wrong with me?!”
Yang’s finger swiped through the chocolate on her cheek and drew away to look at it. As she did so, Kali commented in a somewhat urgent voice, “Now, Yang, be reasonable. This was clearly an accident.”
“I’m such a spaz! Yang, I… I’m sorry!” That seemed to be as much as she could do before she started scrambling to leave, stumbling again to headbutt Weiss in the stomach.
“OOF! Ruby!”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, everybody! Super duper sorry! Oh, just kill me now! This is the worst thing I’ve…”
Her voice faded when she began to hear the laughter. It started out a little low, and then began to build until Yang was guffawing and slapping her thigh, sending yet more little droplets of chocolatey shake everywhere. Her cheeks turned red from lack of oxygen, and the other three women stood by and gaped at her for a moment, unsure how to take this development.
“Oh my GOD, the look on your face! Priceless! Really tickled me!”
Still snorting and falling over onto her side, Yang couldn’t seem to catch breath, she was laughing so hard. A little at a time, Kali and Weiss began to join her, the sight too funny to be resisted. Ruby didn’t, of course; she was still too mortified at her own actions.
“I’ll clean it up!” she squealed over the others. “Honest, I- I will! Promise! Where’s your, um… mop? Washcloth? Rug shampooer? Where do I start?”
“Get over here!” Still terrified, Ruby obeyed - and Yang grabbed her and pulled her into a headlock, rubbing her fist against her crown. “You little germ!”
“AH! You’re getting the malt all over me!”
“You’re damn right I am - if I have to wear it, so do you!”
Little by little, Ruby began to giggle as she was gently manhandled by her big sister, including a few pokes to her ribs, which got her legs windmilling off the edge of the bed. Kali and Weiss could breathe a sigh of relief at last; even though it wasn’t ideal, maybe this had been exactly what those two needed.

💟
Alright, since this is a wildcard, its time to set a very unfortunate memory for our dearest little Novelist here :) I’m not going to be sorry in the slightest for tormenting her, but lets say her memory isn’t the greatest.
Lets see what went wrong with her in the past to make her this way, shall we?
TW/s: Death, occults, and sacrifices (rituals as well) will be mentioned in this memory. I’ll let you guess on what type of memory it is. Oh, and yes, this is involved with Adalyn- lets say this is her motive before an incident happened... (this will also have a recent memory, though the first will be lengthy. Hope you enjoy it! ♡)
In the past, Adalyn had nothing to really say that went wrong in her life. She had never felt the need to change anything in her time and she felt... Happy in the past. However, things had changed when September came.
There had been news that spread around that a group came, speaking of a religion they were in. They had convinced a few people that theirs is not as bad as others would think, but most have decided to steer clear from the danger.
Adalyn was one of those people that didn't believe them. Who would when the risk is present? She wouldn't wish to join a shady group worshipping a God no one knows about. Instead, she did something she was well-known for by the town she lived in, and that was asking about with what the people think.
Liana had helped her as well, deeming that she wanted to know what everyone thought about the religion. However, the replies they got were concerning and not the best. A handful of them were just neutral, but there were a few that went through the group and had been banished from said group.
Well, that's how everyone had said, anyways.
"There's always something off about that group and the religion they were involved- the eerie atmosphere and the odd seances they host... Its all to worship the Gods, but I doubt it."
"My sister just joined to this group actually... But she ended up being a brainwashed cultist. Honestly, that's enough suspicion for me! I've seen how everyone reacted, so why would anyone in their right minds want to join the group?!"
"I was just one of the recent visitors, and their volunteers... I can see that they're not even themselves. I don't know about you, but I doubt you want to join if you want to see that happen."
All the replies seem to have one thing in common: doubt and denial. She had seen how some of the people reacted when she prodded the question to them, and their statements may be vague or shallow, but it helped her understand a bit on what the group entails in its masses.
However, when she asked them on the requirements to join, they began to clam up and she can't seem to prod any answers from them. They did say it wasn't worth it, but...
With a rough sigh, the girl grabbed a fistful of her hair and raked it out of her high ponytail. It frustrated her to no end, but she knew she was being a bit paranoid.
"It'll be okay, sister- I'm sure the mayor can drive them off soon!"
Liana knew Adalyn and her frustrations too well, and she was, indeed, the more stubborn one out of the two. Unlike her younger sister, the older had her temper and she refused to give in and stop being so stubborn with tasks.
And she knew that this one is apart of those frustrations.
"Come on, they just came in today... Let's hope they leave after, alright?"
Adalyn glanced at her sister, before nodding with an aggravated sigh crossing from her lips.
"Fine. I'm just... Ugh, my instincts are telling me to get through their case— I can't seem to crack on the requirements since someone sent me basic information about this cult months ago, Lia."
"I know, but being frustrated wont solve anything. I know you, sister, and I know being frustrated won't solve anything."
The younger sibling grabbed the letter that was addressed to the other, before placing it in Adalyn's hands.
"Come on, you're stronger than this! We can solve it, and I know it!"
But it is easier said than done.
                                                                ---
Weeks had passed after the group's arrival, and it didn't seem like they'd be leaving anytime soon. She had watched as the others asked about the group and tried to join in which let them have a bigger amount of people following their every whim with no strings attached.
And soon enough, almost half of the townsfolks have joined this seemingly blessed group and their religion. The only ones were the ex-volunteers, and the non-believers.
Adalyn knew that something was definitely up with the town. The Mayor had said to help them (Adalyn and Liana were the known ones due to helping around the town in all its years), but after seeing what it is about, he couldn't do anything about it but he did say he'd check on the group and keep a more... Watchful eye on it.
She would've reckon that the group was something different, but she didn't give too much thought into it. The mayor can settle it... Right?
Nonetheless, there hadn't been much updates on their end, but the novelist found herself asking the staff and the others who joined about the religion itself just to get a shed of information behind it, though the most answers she got were... Cryptic at best.
But not as bad as she anticipated.
All the girl knew about the religion was that it had been up for centuries, and it was portrayed on worshipping God from what He has done till the end with His ancestors and such. She knew it was basically Christianity, but their words...
Their words and reactions aren’t the best, and it gave her a bad impression. They look so dazed and convinced that it was good that they kept pressuring the poor novelist to join in as well. “You’ll fit in, dearest! Trust me!” one of them said to her, nudging her with a grin on their lips.
Fit in? As if she’d believe that for a second. She knew too well that she never believed in a religion hosted by a small group or two, and she was wary to a fault. What would make them believe that she’d ever join? Was it from how unsuspecting she is? If it is, then that’s false. She’s already known to state her opinions, no matter if its controversial or not, so their claims are already false.
God, it ticks her off when people can’t seem to understand when she’s making a valid point...
However, she didn’t seem to understand on how people got influenced the longer they went to that group. Even her little sister is getting roped to them, and as much as she hated doubting Liana, she knew it won’t be long till something ever happens to her younger sister.
And she’s not risking that possibility... At all.
                                                               ---
Adalyn had seen everything from the group and their actions as well, though what she didn’t understood was their motive.
That’s the only thing she was lacking: their motive.
She didn’t knew what was going on, but she’s been staying at the side for months. Despite this, though, she has seen what’s happening from 10th of October.
One by one, she’s seen the cases of the girls disappearing without a trace. No wills, no letters, no evidence- its almost as if they vanished out of thin air, and disappeared from the face of the Earth. And this caught the mayor’s attention, who begged asked her for help. She had told the mayor what she knows to a vague standpoint, so that he wouldn’t worry so much on what’s going on.
He did agreed on her statement and her observation, though the one thing that set him off was the day the mayor’s daughter had disappeared a few weeks after.
The mayor was angered and demanded answers when he realized that his daughter disappeared, whilst the novelist was struggling to get more information at the case at hand. Most people that she asked (who were now fully invested and involved in the cult) refused to answer her questions, or kept giving vague and ambiguous answers that set the girl off from even bothering with her line of questioning.
However, as she tried to get more answers, she finally found where the mayor’s daughter was. Only, that the day and timing was not the greatest.
October 22nd, and at exactly 3 in the morning did the leader summoned all of the people in the town. Believers and non-believers alike managed to get to the venue, and even the mayor himself came. The sisters were the last ones to arrive, though the moment they came, they found an unfortunate sight.
In front of the church’s entrance, the leader (who was cloaked) had the daughter of the mayor in their hands, their voice booming loudly enough for everyone to hear. “Believers of God, I have our fitting sacrifice!” he stated proudly, with everyone cheering for said sacrifice in front of them. The daughter only cried and struggled, yelling, “Let me go! You guys are the worst!!”
The mayor’s eyes widened as his stressed expression became a sneer, and he immediately yelled out, “That’s my daughter! Let her go!” whilst the man himself rushed up to the stage. However, the leader cackled and spoke loudly, “Disciples! Restrain him!”
It was a wild ride as Adalyn saw how the man was restrained, with him yelling out to let his daughter go. Unfortunately, this reached up to deaf ears as the leader ended up sacrificing the poor girl to their ‘God’.
Adalyn felt her blood run cold when she saw the girl was stripped off of her clothing, with the disciples hitting her using a whip hard enough to draw out blood from her wounds. Her screams only made the crowd roar, possibly because they seem to want her to be ‘baptized’ and accepted of the ‘Lord’.
              Of their Lord.
The one that kicked the bucket for the mayor was the fact that his daughter was being hung on the cross, but instead of being upright, she was hung upside down and let the blood rush up to her head. Her blood curling screams died down as they began to hammer her hands and feet in place of the cross. But one thing that Adalyn knew, though...
... That day, the mayor snapped, and Adalyn knew that the town will never be the same.
