watching people discover the fucked up science guy part of viktor's lore and then being like "we need to acknowledge that he's a fucked up science guy 😔" is so funny. like yeah, he is a fucked up science guy who thinks ethics committees are bullshit because in his mind having rights temporarily violated is perfectly fine if it means saving lives—especially when the ones condemning his beliefs don't offer what they consider to be an ethical alternative to fix the problem and simply let it continue to exist.
and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who experimented on himself following a, quote: traumatic period of introspection. he had a mental breakdown, fell into a major depressive episode, and spending this horrible time of his life "alone in the depths" reinforced and radicalized his previous beliefs, and to showcase his beliefs (and to try and get rid of his emotions because of how overwhelming they were) he turned himself into a cyborg (and did in fact make himself worse in certain ways but ehh who cares /j).
and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who gave a kid back alley anti anxiety meds so he could face down his bullies, but he did so after making him a cozy beverage, teaching him about the dangers of propaganda and baseless rumors, and having him scream into a megaphone to freak out said bullies because it was funny (not that he'd admit to finding it funny because then he'd have to admit to having emotions, and well he can't do that, no sir).
so yes, viktor is a fucked up science guy, but that's half his charm! he cares so much about helping people, but he's a weirdo and freak about it! though to be fair, in the city that also has a chemically enhanced werewolf (warwick), a sentient blob of goo (zac), a wind and water goddess (janna), and a literal war criminal who invented chemical warfare (singed), among many other wacky individuals, he's pretty normal all things considered! fucked up science is just a part of life in zaun, my dudes!
#viktor league of legends#machine herald#uhh those are the only tags I'm doing#still not making a lol tag < is my lol tag#absolutely no hate or offense intended towards anyone bringing up viktor's deeply questionable ethics btw#it's just genuinely a really funny phenomenon to me is all#fr though viktor (and zaun) are meant to represent that dark messy side of science people don't like to acknowledge exists#we would not be where we are today scientifically if it weren't for the people who willingly or unwilling crossed the line#according to a reddit ama the person who wrote viktor’s 2016 lore was directly inspired by the scientists who invented local anesthesia#and tested it on themselves before testing it on patients! obviously what viktor did is just a smidge more extreme than that#but you get the point#he's not evil he's just not exactly mentally well lmao. except the times where he is an evil super villain#95% of the time he should be a weird but otherwise normal guy and the other 5% he should rob banks with his buddies for comedic effect#as zaun is all dark and gritty and deals with complicated complex themes but also it's like a saturday morning cartoon down there#that story from legends of runeterra where viktor takes away all of jinx’s weapons and then gets beat up by vi for it bc she didn't know#that's why the two of them were causing trouble is so fucking funny. just another tuesday am I right?#to be clear I intentionally took a more comedic tone w this post bc I don't have the energy to get into a nuanced discussion of ethics#and discuss the themes of academic elitism mental illness and other stuff in viktor's lore seriously#nor am i particularly knowledgeable of certain aspects that play a part in his lore aka glorious (r)evolution

To Lord Capitano, the First of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers:
I have many questions, some that may have been answered prior to this that I have yet to see. Anyways:
One: Since you are familiar with the Traveler’s sibling, do you know any history they (both of the twins) have? Family or otherwise like where they originate from?
Two: Are you aware that the traveler can use multiple elements? If so, do you wish to see it in a fight if you haven’t already? Also, do you wish to have a spar with them??
Three: Assuming you respect the traveler and they went to Snezhnaya, meeting your other Harbinger colleagues and stuff. Would you be concerned about them meeting someone in particular such as Dottore or Pantalone, maybe even just your fellow harbingers in general? (Dottore mainly because they have a history and Pantalone as the Traveler has undoubtedly interfered with his profits in some cases)
Thank you for taking your time to read this and I hope for your response and answers soon.
With Sincerest Regards to the great Capitano; (Sender:) An Interested Party.
🐉
(Attached Image:)
A new face here, pleasure to meet you. Now regarding your questions.
1) im not very familar with the story from the travelers sibling, I wish i could tell you more but im sadly not very well informed. but i of course am aware of all the things the Traveler and his companion have experienced throughout the nations.
2) i was actually aware that the Traveler can possess multiple elements and i really wish i would have seen it in a fight, i also asked the Traveler if we could have a small duel if i ever come to live again and He is still around.
3) i would indeed be a little worried for the Traveler, yes he went against Gods and Things alike but he always has assistance. Im unsure if he would be able to win if it came to fight, i would say no considering he failed in Battle against Arlecchino once. And Oh Archons Dont even let me speak of the effect Columbina would have on him, She may not be the highest in ranking but she is still very much the most terrifying one from us Harbingers.
I hope my answers were satisfying, pls ask some more if other questions are still burning in your Head.
Ps : that Dragon looks very Beautiful

my actual hottest kingdom hearts hot take is that the names of the Heartless and Nobodies are not actually confusing and the people who complain of them being nonsensical are either 1) deliberately being obtuse to further drive the point that the series is needlessly confusing or 2) on the receiving end of someone else dumping a whole bunch of kh information on them all at once with no time to process anything.
The way it works when playing through the series, you have two full games to get used to the concept of Heartless (one is Chain of Memories but even with just kh1 you WILL know what a heartless is). They're the little shadow creatures with glowing yellow eyes. Nonzero chance that the person playing the game has seen before this as well; their appearance is (relatively) iconic.
Nobodies you will only start seeing in kh2 (the few cheeky references in Chain of Memories don't count) and by then you'll have it down and easily be able to rearrange your knowledge to accommodate them.
"why are they called heartless if they're made of hearts and nobodies if they're made of bodies" it's simple. Heartless are named because the name is cool as fuck and the guy who named them in-universe saw that they were the byproduct of a heart collapsing- he didn't know about Nobodies either (aka what actually happens to the body) and just concluded that's what happens to someone who lost their heart, not that the heart itself became the Heartless. They display “no emotion” because they act only on the instinct of hunger— they behave “heartlessly” (cruel and without consideration or compassion for what they’re destroying).
And Nobodies? This is REALLY where the "deliberately obtuse" comes in. If kingdom hearts really called a creature without a body a "No-body" to describe how it has no body I think it would be mocked even more. No, they're named after the dictionary definition of the noun: one who is of no significance, a person none care about living on the fringes.
We actually get it all directly from Xehanort in the Ansem Reports. He named them both. Here's Ansem Report 3:
The shadows that crawl beneath the castle... Are they the people who lost their hearts, or incarnations of darkness? Or something entirely beyond my imagination? All my knowledge has provided no answer. One thing I am sure of is that they are entirely devoid of emotion. Perhaps further study will unlock the mysteries of the heart. Fortunately, there is no shortage of test samples. They are multiplying underground even as I write this report. They still need a name. Those who lack hearts... I will call them the Heartless.
And here's Ansem Report 13 (the one you get for defeating Xemnas in Final Mix):
Where does the body go when it separates from the heart? If the soul remains within the body, is it still considered to be deceased? When the heart returns to the Heartless, the physical form disappears. But that is merely true in this world. Perhaps the body exists in another form in another world. If that is the case, then it is possible for one to exist in two worlds. A being that is neither darkness nor light; belonging nowhere; abandoned by its heart; a mere shell of its former self. The relation between the heart and body is complex. However, I am certain that if your self exists here, then by definition, the other cannot truly "exist." The other, the one which does not exist, shall be dubbed, "Nobody."
And this isn't name lore cobbled together after the fact like Mickey having to lose his shirt in 0.2 Fragmentary Passage to explain why he has none in kh1; the Heartless name lore was in the game when it came out, and the Nobody name lore was the introduction to Nobodies as a concept (for anyone who could beat The Unknown at least lmao).
basically
#kingdom hearts#heartless#nobodies#kh1#me post#this has been in drafts for a little bit but I’m posting it now because I was reminded of So This Is Basically KH

Introducing my Tokyo Debunker OC!
AHHHHHH!!!! This is the first OC I have ever created. I was super inspired by @cloudcountry 's recent post of their tkdb OC and suddenly Rose was born. She's definitely a mix of yume and actual OC, but I am so proud of her and all of the work I put into her backstory!! Now I just wish I could draw so I could draw her (∩︵∩)
Full-body picrew link here, chibi picrew link here, and the picrew I used to make her lil profile pic on the relationship chart is here.
Her detailed backstory, stigma, pact, etc. are below the cut for anyone interested in reading more! (Warning: long as hell lmao)
Highlights of her personal details:
Her birthday - July 11th, was chosen due to the meaning behind the angel number 711 - “a positive message from the universe, encouraging you to trust your intuition, embrace new beginnings, and stay focused on your spiritual path”
Her MBTI - “The Defender” is characterized by being deeply caring, loyal, and practical, with a strong desire to support others and maintain harmony, while also being introverted and sometimes struggling with change or self-doubt due to their "Turbulent" trait, making them highly sensitive to criticism and needing reassurance in their actions.
Her magical abilities - Rose specializes in both Lunar and Herbal herbal magic. A common combination due to their similarities - both are heavily focused on spellwork, both with candle magic and with spell jars/bags. This type of spellwork is similar to simple manifestation, but having more potent results (especially when spells are cast with a whole coven). There is always an outcome or goal in mind when casting, and it can really be anything; more power or wealth, love, success, improved health, protections, etc. Lunar witchcraft is also known for purification and protection rituals. Herbal witches are also known to keep a tidy garden for having fresh herbs (and anomalous plants) in stock.
Her artifact: A golden staff with a large amethyst adorned to the top. The staff helps serve as a concentration point for her magic, and the amethyst helps to keep her centered and grounded in battle - something that is extremely important when using her stigma.
Rose’s Lore (broken up into sections but written as one narrative):
Personal Backstory: Rose is a direct descendent of Sarah Bishop - a witch who was able to escape from prison with her husband and avoid persecution during the Salem Witch Trials. Coming from a family with a long line of powerful witches, her parents began her magical training as soon as she was old enough to walk. Throughout her early childhood, they helped her explore different schools of magic before discovering her talents in Lunar and Herbal witchcraft. When she was old enough to begin school, she attended a normal public school, but continued her magic studies at home in the evenings and weekends. As an introverted only child, she struggled to make friends, causing her to become very close to her parents. She began attending a private boarding school for witches in Maine after turning 11 years old. This school provided both a mix of traditional American curriculum and specialized courses on each student’s personal school of magic. It is here that she was finally able to open up and make friends - who have become more akin to family over time. She was also able to discover her love of research and magical experimentation - testing different combinations of herbs, crystals, incantations, etc., to see what new spells can be created. She was very happy and fulfilled - having incredibly deep relationships with each of her friends and her parents (who she still regularly visited and called while away at school), and having access to a wealth of knowledge and resources to help cultivate her research. However, when she was 16 years old, her headmaster broke the news that her parents were killed in a car accident with a drunk driver. Thrown into a deep depression, Rose spiraled into feelings of guilt for not being able to protect her parents, for not being strong enough to prevent the accident, and after months of despair, she resolved herself to do anything she could to become stronger. Now, all she had left were her friends, and she was determined to do anything possible to make sure nothing happened to them.
Pact/Stigma Details: Rose turned to researching methods for strengthening her magical abilities. After weeks of digging through every text she could get her hands on, she found a book detailing demons and demonic pacts. Though she would normally shy away from Shadow Work due to the risks associated, reading about demonic pacts and the enhanced supernatural abilities summoners receive made her consider otherwise. After scouring the text cover to cover, taking extensive notes, and preparing a space for the ritual, she drew a summoning circle and began reciting incantations. Once the demon materialized, she confidently, maybe even stubbornly, told them that she would do anything- trade anything- to become more powerful, to protect the ones she loves. And thus, the pact was established.
Rose was given the ability of transmutation, the act of changing physical matter into something new. When activating her stigma, she has the ability to control how much matter is transmuted, and in what way - either simple nuclear transmutation (for example, turning metal into liquid, changing the shape of rocks) or nuclear bombardment (blowin’ shit up). Bound by the laws of equivalent exchange, large attacks or long-lasting battles require large amounts of matter and physical endurance. The more she engages with her stigma the quicker she loses stamina. Similar to the physical ailments Subaru experiences when intentionally casting his stigma, Rose also can overwork herself to the point of losing consciousness very quickly if she is not careful.
Darkwick Lore: After graduating from her boarding school, Rose enrolled in the Institute’s American campus. Because the United States is such a large country, the school is also quite large - even more so than Darkwick with over double the number of admitted ghouls. Her first year passed by rather uneventfully, until she discovered the existence of the anomalous garden in Obscuary on Darkwick’s campus. This piqued her interest as she had not had many chances in the last year to continue her experimental research, and being able to do so with anomalous plants would open up a lot of new possibilities and theories to test. She inquired with her professors about the possibility of transferring to Darkwick’s campus, but was initially met with vague and curt responses. That is until the Chancellor of the academy called her to their office with a very interesting proposal. Darkwick was searching for ways to improve their general student population’s negative perception of the Obscuary ghouls. After hearing from several professors about Rose’s inquiries for transferring, the Chancellor reached out to Darkwick to propose the transfer themselves. It was beneficial for Darkwick because Rose fit into Obscuary’s category of “creature” since she is a witch, but the general students would feel at ease around her since she is, for the most part, human. It would also be beneficial for the American academy since they already have such a high number of enrolled ghouls, and, they had also negotiated into the agreement a clause which states that any research published by Rose during her stay at Darkwick would not just be credited to her and to Darkwick, but also to their academy as well. Rose easily accepted these terms, beginning her journey to Japan.
Notes on her relationships:
Rose met Luca and Kaito at the opening ceremony where she and Luca were both introduced as transfer students. The two of them immediately connected due to this shared background, and because they could freely converse in English whenever they became too overwhelmed with Japanese. They both are protectors of the ones they care about and it didn’t take long for this to begin manifesting for each other. They are very similar in a number of other ways as well - both being kind and gentle, but also well equipped for battle. Luca’s gentlemanly behavior immediately caught Rose’s attention, since it is not very common to see those mannerisms in the states, and she sees him as both a knight in shining armor and a prince. Unfortunately, they are both a little oblivious, so it took them both a little bit to acknowledge their own feelings, and even longer to act on them. Eventually, they were able to sort out their feelings together and became an official couple.
Rose and Rui became quick friends due to Rui’s laidback and playful nature, and because Rose was deeply and genuinely interested in his anomalous garden. She is extremely fascinated with the way he creates mocktails from anomalous plants, which leads to her helping out in his bar quite frequently (which also leads to friendships with ghouls who are frequent customers, like Haru). In return, he helps her with her magical research whenever he can! Their bond quickly becomes deeper than a friendship, and develops into something much more familial, with Rui filling in the role of a big brother to her with ease.
When Lyca joined Obscuary, Rose became very close to him very quickly, adopting the role of a big sister to him. She is fiercely protective of him and will call out anyone on campus who dares to say anything negative about him. The two of them quickly begin acting like true siblings - randomly barging into each other's rooms, purposefully annoying each other, roughhousing, sending each other memes, and spending a lot of time together either actively or via parallel play. Lyca’s close relationship with Subaru inevitably causes Rose to become close to the Hotarubi captain as well - and the other two ghouls, Haku and Zenji. She and Lyca often visit Hotarubi together and soon find the dorm to be just as comfortable as their own.
Rose feels a bit unsettled by Ed. She doesn’t have a lot of experience with vampires in general since there is not a large population of them in America (most of which is centered around New Orleans), and she can sense he is hiding something big behind his old man shtick. She is friendly, but guarded with him.
Rose was given special permission from Professor Nicholas to conduct her research at Mortkranken when needed. Though her research isn’t focused on health sciences, Mortkranken still has many useful equipment and laboratory spaces for any kind of scientific research. This is how she came to meet Jiro and Yuri. It took her a bit to adjust to Yuri’s demands and teasing, but now she finds his moments of softness endearing and is able to tease him back. She was able to easily befriend Jiro due to their common interest in anomalous plants, and because of his quiet but curious nature. He sometimes assists with her experiments when available, and they both find working together in silence easy and comfortable. Rose really admires both of them for their incredible dedication to their research, though she does wish they would take more breaks!
If you read this far thank you!!! I appreciate you and any feedback you may have:3

hey so um I'm trying to get into ateez and you are probably the best person to ask about this ^-^; soo where do I start I first heard bouncy and a few hours ago ice on my teeth and now I'm desperate to get more into them (?) It's my first time being so invested in kpop in general so don't get mad at my lack of knowledge about them, also do the shows they went on as a guest and non music entertainment they made like just them interacting is on like... youtube or do I actually start from a particular order I should watch?
I’m lowkey honored you asked me this considering I also really got into kpop a few months ago. Ateez was the first and only group I’ve really gotten obsessed with. My ult group perhaps so this inbox note is like looking at September me LMAO.
Personally, I recommend to begin with watching this 2024 guide so you’ll get acquainted with the individual members, Ateez’s history and learn basic/cool things about their past and personality. https://youtu.be/jtcG0Wi5P1k?si=gsWg2m4dUnPaab1V
youtube
Then I would watch all their music videos starting from their debut mv Pirate King and work my way up from there. That’s what I did at least. After that, make your way to Spotify and delve into their discography from 2018-latest release.
There’s so much Ateez content that I myself haven’t gotten to either. But some videos that I think a beginner atiny MUST watch is:
-Their Kingdom performances
-KQ fellaz performance videos
-Wooyoung’s Artist of the Month
-Wanteez episodes (which are basically Ateez being put in different scenarios for comedy. There’s one where they’re on anesthesia, another where they’re drunk, testing friendship etc.)
-Solo projects they’ve done like San’s Imagine Dragons cover, Mingi’s Tunnel MV, Wooyoung’s dance cover of Logic 1-800, Hongjoong’s cover of Numb, Yunho’s original song Be Alright. And so much more.
-Any Coachella vids. Unfortunately there isn’t an official one on YouTube so TikToks and fancams will have to do
-Their MAMA and MMA performances
-Killing Voice
There’s a lot more obviously but I think from here you can build off into your own rabbit hole. They are a group that have canon lore and a storyline going on in their videos that is kinda complicated. But there enough lore vids and masterlists on tumblr to help you. And their albums come in 3 versions, A-Diary-Z. The diary versions coming with more explanations on what’s going in their storyline.
I hope I was somewhat helpful and I’m super glad you’re getting into them :)

i was summoned by the possibility of a monstereffer in the house. something something Dek something, i haven't seen any of the Predator movies. All I know is looking inhuman like that is totally sexy. Why they hatin.
(...that does not include animals, to anyone reading this. I mean sentient, relatively humanoid— or not— creatures. Aliens are hot. Monsters are hot. Robots too. You know what I mean.)
Yesssssss. I'll go on record here and say that watching Alien Vs Predator at 12 was one of my first "oh no he's hot" moments with regards to an inhuman/monster character. I'm very, very, weak to their design, and I'm guaranteed to always find a Yautja (The name for the Predator species) attractive. I'm also very into alien/inhuman/monster culture, so the idea of finally getting a movie where we see even a little bit more of that is sooooo my thing. I'll also state that my lore knowledge here is low, I've seen like, maybe four movies with a Predator in them in my whole life, and the best out of them was Prey, so maybe they've already done this and I just didn't see that one. I do know this will be the first movie with one as the protag instead of the antagonist so that's exciting for me. And yes, yes, no I got you. My rule for finding monsters/aliens/robots etc attractive is if they can pass the Harkness test. Can the creature communicate and communicate consent? Is the creature of age for its species? Is the creature sapient? If yes to all, it's good to go for me, haha. If it can't do one or more of those things........ idk man that's not my cup of tea. I also prefer my monsters to look nothing like anything on earth, so I tend to not gravitate towards like... lets use werewolves as an example. Just a big wolf? Nah, I'll pass. Even if it passes the Harkness test, that's just not as interesting to me as a horrible wolf man monster that leans into the uncanny and still has a shreds of humanity left in there. I want to be able to look at it and go, "are those...hands?" instead of paws. But also things that wildly do not look anything like a person, like half the boss monsters in say, Bloodborne? That shit rules. The Yautja are fairly basic, but they have a few standout features, mostly their mouths, like man... y'all ever wonder why I made Leon's face like that in You Pay the Cost??? That's what finding Yautja attractive at 12 will do to you. Lmao. I also am fond of their crests and how the designs are different with different colors, horn placement, and dread placements... The glowing blood helps too- that shit rules. More people should make monsters/aliens with glowing blood. If you don't I will. I'm tempted to watch the rest of the movies even if they're fucking awful just so I can see more of them. Anyways, thanks for the ask anon, I didn't expect a chance to do a mini rant on monster/alien attractiveness today.

Known for his ability to cast multiple complex and functional spells all at once
Known for his always scowling face and strict nature, but in truth, he does care a lot about his students
Tired Dad™ even if he never has kid
Likely becomes the pseudo-parent to two kids and one ghost(?) as he often runs into their shenanigans by chance
And because he is technically new to the school, he doesn’t know much about its current situation until overhearing that something has gone suspense to the point authority might allow the Auror to station at Hogwarts just in case
Soon becomes suspicious of that one ‘Sneaky Cat’ who loves to loiter around his student and gets a bit unsettled knowing the school seems likely to ignore this invader
—Ange

Hogwarts’ little ghostie
Or that’s what she believes
Transparent Genki Girl with amnesia
She is still determined to know more about her past life though
Hogwarts ghosts are pretty welcome to her arrival, they often act like her parents and even becomes supportive of her whenever she wants to kick Peeves’s ass
Oh yeah, she has a beef with Peeves (Hogwarts’s Poltergeist) since that mischief likes to harass other students out there!
With her nature of ghost, she can pass through solid objects and is unable to physically touch something —However, unlike other ghosts, she has shown to be quite expressive and had her preferences leaning more aligned to those of the mortal ones
Looks all cute and smol but isn’t so harmless due to her bizarre ability to meddle with most kinds of magic, especially the magic from that wizard boy’s wand
Claims to be able to communicate with the magic power living within each person’s wand and is super curious to know what Hogwarts students normally learn in their classes
Yuuya has speculated that she might have used to live as a very powerful witch before passing away… But, who will know the truth anyway?
From what she could utmostly recall, she had come to haunting around the fringe of Forbidden Forest without any memory until one day the little cat lead its wizard boy to come across her by chance
That day she has gained her first wizard friend who is willing to talk with her and she is very appreciative of their friendship
Really, really LOVES to talk —Can’t never seem to shut up about something that piques up her interest
Together with her now two wizard friends, she is looking forward to any journey this wicked destiny would bring to herself
—“Mr Sneaky Paw”

It says you enjoy Deadpool comics aka marvel comic, so I was wondering if you've dabble into DC comics at all? Unless it doesn't interest you? Just curious, since, I've been obsessed with batman villains for over six months now and have over a hundred comics I've collected since then and Bing watched nearly every batman show- anywaus- yeah, just curious :)
(I'm obsessed with batman, don't test me)
lmao okay so, I randomly started re-watching the X-Men series on Disney plus during the summer, (I don't know why) and ended up really liking superheroes again. Then the Deadpool and Wolverine movie came out, so I watched that one with my friend. Now, she's a big DC fan, especially Jason Todd and the Batfam, so naturally she started to talk about the lore and her favorite characters and I started to get interested.
I've seen a LOT of superman movies, but that's mainly because my mom loves him, so the bias proved strong whenever we'd venture into the DC universe for our movie nights lol. But then as I got older I started liking Batman more (don't tell my mommy).
I know a teensy-weensy bit of batman lore, but realistically I've only seen a handful of batman movies and know as much lore as my friend has dumped on me. So, case and point, yes, I'm interested in DC, specifically Batman. I think they look interesting and want to read the comics/watch the movies and shows too, but I'm so broke that I have to scour the internet to find a place where I can read the comics lol.
Not to mention having no idea where to start. There are a lot from what I've seen, and it's pretty daunting since I don't want to start reading a comic with a lack of needed lore knowledge, if that makes sense.
Kind of unrelated but not really, my friend seems extremely irritated when it comes to the romance in the Bat-Fam, I think specifically having to do with Dick Grayson and Barbara or something like that. Don't know what all that's about, but it's funny to hear her get mad where we talk about it lol.
Anyways, yapping summary: yes, I'm interested in the comics and the DC universe. I haven't seen much of it, but I really want to. Also, if you have any advice on where to start/where to read it, id gladly take advice from you since I can see your little obsession there lol. Or anyone, really. I'm going to need a new obsession once my Gravity Falls one dies down. Though, I don't see that happening anytime soon lol.

alright hello AK its been [long droning noise about the passage of time unending] and i have some ship asks for you. corvo/daud. :DDDD and then uhhhhh. UHHH. damn. hm. do i throw you a fave ship of MINE? mine? i guess i will. eris morn/ikora rey from destiny. there you go. Two For The Price Of One Ask!
you wanna hear a funny destiny story? i applied to bungie several years ago. i didn't get it, obviously, but i applied! their process was different than the other game jobs i've interviewed for - they did a test first, then started vetting you for interviews.
i'd heard the test was as much about your lore knowledge as your writing skills, but i didn't know the IP at all, so i went straight to the let's plays and lore videos. imagine my surprise when the lore videos were like three hours long LMAO. i listened to them while i did the dishes every night and worked on my test. they liked what i wrote, but i think i biffed it in the screening call that came afterward. i'm glad i ended up where i did, but they seemed nice. now they've had those layoffs. the poor team.
anyway! eris and ikora. i recognize those names from my research, but i'm not familiar with how they'd work as a couple. let's go digging
would you ship it? i get the feeling we're dealing with two types of heroes here: a professional, traditional representation of The Good Guys, and a powerful, but spooky soul who keeps being drawn to dark forces. does that sound right? the wiki says they're friends, and that ikora shows concern for eris when nobody else is on her side, which is cute. destiny's worldbuilding is so grandiose that it's hard to parse the human element amid the space opera as a non-player, but the ship seems to have solid footing!
what would be your favorite thing about the ship? i imagine the same thing that draws people to mass effect ships. when you save the galaxy, who will save your life? who will you share the memories with?

HI DUCKY just popping in to say that i love the duckhito lore so much and I Love seeing how you put so much consideration into mahito as a character and what his idiosyncrasies would be!! so many are just like haha gross evil guy but your takes about his distance from humanity and just his psychology in general are like. Mmm

WAHHHHHH MIRA THIS MEANS SO MUCH 2 ME…
i just think he’s so. AUGH. he’s so much fun and so interesting to think about!!!
like yes, okay, he lives in a sewer (which, fun fact, the novel actually clarifies that the water that runs through there is purified + he lives there because the smell reminds him of spring rain), and he goes barefoot all the time (i have no defense for this one), but like. idk.
(this got a little long. oops)
on some level i do understand the haterism because he does cause so much pain and suffering for poor yuuji, and also one of the people he kills is a) a beloved mentor figure, and b) one of The thirsted after figures in the show overall.
but also like. there’s so many pieces to his character that make him compelling to me. his distance from humanity is so fascinating because he’s born of one of humanity’s worst traits, our hatred of one another, and yet he looks the Most human because of that same source. (as compared to rika, who’s one of the strongest curses and also the most monstrous because she stems from yuuta’s love)
i’m also of the opinion that part of his like, immaturity? is not only because of his newness as a spirit, but because although there are a multitude of reasons for people disliking one another, sometimes it’s the fundamental, childish thing of “i just don’t like them :(”
i also find his general demeanor charming because, well. he’s charming! he knows how to get under people’s skin, to twist their anxieties and fears and biases into true hatred, and i think that kind of character is so interesting to play around with (big fan of charismatic manipulators — see my enjoyment of getou as well LMAO).
this is getting really long so i suppose my third and final point (for this post at least) is that mahito as a character is defined by his curiosity. another post i vaguely remember said it better, but it essentially talked about how you can see him test the limits of his powers as he reoccurs throughout the series and how he grows in that. he’s constantly seeking more knowledge, which is a fascinating trait to give to a character who has a superiority complex over humans/sorcerers! it’s like. just because they’re beneath him doesn’t mean he can’t learn from them — and this isn’t limited solely to him gaining power/trying to get stronger, either. his section in the novel is literally about mahito meeting a blind man who can somehow “see” him, and how mahito keeps coming back to talk to him because he’s curious as to old man’s perspective on the world!!
idk. i love that patchwork idiot so much. he also hits one of my favorite tropes in the “inhuman meets a human willing to explain human experiences, inhuman gets attached and proceeds to have a crisis about said attachment” so that’s a bonus as well LMAO
#quackin.back#duck.m!#lover.ducky#lover.mahito#idk. i just think he’s neat#there’s also so much you can do with his curiosity about human anatomy OKAY ANYWAYS-#mahito#thank u for enjoying my nonsense this was so fun to talk about fr

I perused your blog once like a month ago and hadn’t checked it again for a while… then last night suddenly I had a dream about Cepheus and Eridanus specifically, like literally down to their armor, where they were screaming at each other (I think it was about Cepheus doing something reckless? It wasn’t specific) and suddenly Eridanus was crying and they had a brother moment where Ceph realized Eridanus cared more than he was letting on…
I led with that strange introduction to ask, Have Eridanus and Cepheus ever had any emotional brother moments aside from the pre-final shape comic you posted? we’d all love to hear the angst if you have any…
Apologies for the delay! I meant to reply to this a couple days ago but work is currently kicking my butt so I haven't had a chance! I didn't wanna just give a 2 sentence answer. I'll put a read more cut here though cause I wrote too much maybe lmao
Firstly, MAN I'm so envious LOL. I wanna dream about them!!1 my dreams be like "you're doing a test in a class you haven't attended all semester". Thanks brain... Re: emotional moments, none that I've committed to paper either in writing or drawing, but there's one specific one which occurs after Witch Queen. iirc we got some of lore drops about the hidden bringing items to Savathun's throne world (I can't remember if it was to the pool of memories or to the relic) and glimpsing a bit about their pasts. Unlike Ceph who has basically accepted his life as a guardian and makes the most out of it/found his own purpose, Eridanus never has, ever since he was risen. I like to think Eridanus was tempted by the chance to get a glimpse of who he & Ceph were before, even though he knew that finding out the truth would make him even more miserable in his present life. And I think they 100% would have had a massive fight over Eridanus' suggestion that they should look into their past. Ceph would consider it meaningless, and that it would hurt both of them for no reason since there's no way to go back. Eridanus would argue that they don't even know who they are and... he just wants to know if he was happy. in that life. And that it would mean something to know that. And that y'know, Ceph has managed to cope but not everyone else fits into this "guardian" mould the traveler expects of them. And realistically, I like to think that'd awaken something in Ceph? like the first time since they were rezzed that he sees something more in his brother than just a hedonistic gambler with no cares in the world. but he tells Eridanus not to tell him anything if he goes through with it. and on that point, I can't decide if Eridanus would? I think it would be lonely to carry the burden of knowledge alone :( ...but y'know, let me make him suffer... let's say he did check LOOOOL (not that I've decided what their roles were before they died). .... wow that looks like way more than 400 words. thanks for reading all that (and the question!!! makes me want to draw a comic for this scenario ahh if only I had the energy) and honestly thank you for taking so much interest in my awoken OCs!! I'm really flattered that anyone is invested in them <3

To be fair, Mario actually has killed a lot of villains over the years. Most of the RPG villains end up dead by the end of their game, and Mario is rarely upset about it lol.
My knowledge of Mario lore is limited to Yoshi's Island and Partners in Time lmao, and I know all too well that he, Luigi and the babies killed that Elder Princess dead for all she did because that boss fight tested my patience :^)
The art just implied that Mario kills his enemies mercilessly, when from what I know the dude just deals with villains in different ways depending on their heinousness, like Sonic, and he's even more amicable with Bowser than Sonic is with Eggman. I'm definitely not a Mario expert and I have more issues with Steven the Universe anyway, because Sonic has also very much killed plenty of villains and I think people are starting to forget it

Wait, is your robot guy a gardening robot? Do they still garden? Or did they break away from it? If so, how do they feel about it?
didnt expect sona-lore questions on tumblr, but i'm really happy to answer!
They were designed as a gardening / farming assistant, meant to be mass-produced and sold at some point. It was meant to water crops, pick weeds, test soils, and then enter low power / sleep mode and act as a Scarecrow. My sona in particular was a prototype, testing higher levels of AI to study the crows and possibly interact with them in ways that could be useful as a scarecrow product somehow. The test backfired massively as it ended up befriending the crows instead and being adopted as part of the murder. The crows are their family now, and it's also smart enough to form its own consciousness. They keep teaching each other new things. All attempts by the researchers to take back the robot resulted in the crows getting very defensive and aggressive, so the project was handed off to a social science division to study the robot/crow interactions instead, as well as the advanced AI's knowledge potential with full internet access. Since its original design was meant to focus on the AI and crow-interaction part of their product, not as much effort was put into the gardening aspect of the model. They don't actually know too much about gardening, but they do like to learn a lot about nature in general. Mostly animals. They're happy to be of some use to the researchers at least, but they are secretly really upset about being part of a Social study and not some Sci-Fi-STEM-whatever that would be way cooler. Their dream is to be allowed to work with radioactive materials. Also, It learned how to self modify and installed a walkie-talkie antenna on it's head to pick up radio signals. The researchers have informed them that they voided their own warranty. ...Whatever that may mean.
In the end, all this lore was written as an excuse for me to have a robot interacting with a bunch of Crows on my streams, as well as an excuse for me to ramble off all my animal knowledge, weird science facts, and my obscure internet interests lmao
Thanks for letting me ramble on, idk if i had this updated lore written down anywhere!

Naut lore dump below because I can and I love this weird looking squid
I was originally planning to properly write out the scene here but after several days of me getting a maximum of 40 words down, I decided i’d just explain what happens
Besides, the way his backstory is revealed is second-handedly so I wouldn’t usually have to write it anyway
Warning this is quite long don’t feel pressured to finish it immediately lmao, I also ramble for bits of it but I eventually get on track
Well. Speaking of squids, here’s a fun fact: Nautilus wasn’t always the squid man he is right now, did you know?
Actually, he looked like a normal human man at first, kinda long, curled hair with a darker skin tone. Just kinda a guy yk
What happened, you may ask? Well, i’ll get into that soon
Here’s another fun fact: Nautilus was the first Off-Scripter. Ever.
When he first popped up as an Off-Scripter, Birdo wasn’t entirely sure what to do with him. Taking her chances, she kinda just decided to… leave him be for the time being until something happened
Nautilus has always been a pirate. Even before he became the inter-dimensional one he is now, he was a normal pirate then as well. Now, his universe is from the 12th century, but that’s because that universe is what I call an “Early Bloomer”, which is fairly self explanatory. It’s a universe that is aging relatively faster than the others for whatever reason is given.
So currently for Naut’s universe, while it’s the 12th century, it’s really closer to the 17th - 18th century. Early and Late Bloomers are actually quite common in The Birdhouse, and are usually just left to their own devices to develop
Now, back on topic, you may be asking: How did Naut become an Off-Scripter? And my response to that is: No one knows! Not even Birdo knows, it’s a completely random and unknown phenomenon which can happen to anyone for any reason; intentionally or not (though it’s usually unintentional)
And here’s where an issue arises: When it was just Naut as the sole Off-Scripter, it was mostly fine. His own universe had a few… odd moments, but they were usually able to be steered back on course pretty easily.
That is, until more Off-Scripters began appearing over the multiverse. And so, Birdo acted accordingly. Well, only really on Nautilus first as a sort of “test subject” to see how their little method would go. What’s this method, you ask?
Well. While Birdo couldn’t directly get rid of an Off-Scripter, he could make the environment around the Off-Scripter inhabitable. Bring an indirect death on the Off-Scripter through storms, natural disasters, and for some reason, lots of water.
Basically, Birdo sent a storm of flood and fire on Nautilus’s universe in an attempt to kill him, figuring that if no corner of the universe was left untouched, there would be nowhere for him to go, and he’d die.
Fortunately, that did not work. At all. It certainly rendered Naut’s home dimension uninhabitable! In fact, there was not a single survivor in the entire universe. Twas not an infinite universe, that one, and there for it had a finite number of inhabitants. Well, not a single survivor save for Nautilus.
In the midst of the flood and chaos, Naut, still a human at the time, instinctively tried to save his own life in the quickest way he knew how at the time: He turned himself half squid. Well, half squid is debatable, he is some sort of cephalopod-adjacent humanoid creature
Now, previously, Naut did know he was not a ‘normal guy, ykwim?? He knew he was an Off-Scripter, and had a natural knowledge of the multiverse to accompany that. Honestly, he’d mostly just been trying to live his life as a pirate back then, trying to ignore the big picture and keep to what he’s comfortable with (I get it bestie), but unfortunately, there’s never been a time where a good thing has lasted forever
What I mean to say without rambling is, Nautilus did have a general knowledge of Birdo and the other Founders, but never really paid much attention to them.
Until Birdo of course.
Naut, distraught and utterly traumatised; having nearly drowned in the floods before going squid, eventually spotted the culprit of his universe’s downfall
He confronted them on the elephant in the room that is killing his entire dimension, and Birdo explained the situation. They explained the problem with the Off-Scripters and what they had originally planned, and Naut asked if it was worth it to wipe out his entire reality, literally
Birdo waves it off, saying they can just make a new one and start over, which only pisses Naut off more, asking what’d happen to him and his home. Birdo explains that the universe will likely have to be cleaned up and absorbed by The Null (the Birdhouse’s garbage disposal)
They then go on to say, suddenly disappearing from sight, that they’re gonna give the “execution method” one last try, but do something a little more direct this time
Birdo then reappears in a form a little more menacing; An almost spirit-like, tall figure that looks similar to the small, robed creature Naut saw originally, only this time exaggerated to appear terrifying and divine; like the god they actually were
Naut is knocked over by an odd force, and he looks up to see Birdo brandishing a large spear, pointed directly at him. Their eyes are unreadable in this instance; Large, green inhuman eyes.
Nautilus is terrified, of course he is, he’s about to did, but… he doesn’t find himself doing much to fight back. I mean, think about it, he’s just lost everything he’s ever known, what point is there in going on, anyway? It’s best to just let the god get what she wants.
And so, while he raises an arm and prepares himself for his doom, he doesn’t do anything. Birdo watches him, studying his expressions, spear hovering in the air a moment longer… before she sighs, and lowers the spear to her side. She mutters something about how it “probably won’t work anyway”, her form growing slightly less imposing as she glances away from Nautilus.
And then, Birdo seems to dissipate into nothing. They disappear again, though permanently this time, their voice styaing a moment longer, mumbling almost disappointedly “do whatever you want, I don’t care that much honestly”
Naut took a moment to wonder if the god of this world was a teenager in disguise, before he stood again.
He looked out over the burnt, waterlogged husk of a world that was his home, and his brows furrowed. He hated Birdo with every fibre of his being. He hated all the Founders for allowing this.
But he decided to follow Birdo’s suggestion just this once: He was going to do whatever he wanted, and hell, he wanted to be a pirate
End of writing lore dump notes: If you’re wondering, yes he is afraid of water after this experience. Quite a lot, actually:(

12, 24, and 30 for cori !!
ty azia!! 💗
12. How has their job affected whatever headcanon version is of the MSQ if any?
I do headcanon that Cori was already a decent caster/summoner prior to arriving to Limsa, and most of the lower level quests are the guild testing them and making sure they are where they say they are. Also Cori is a lot more knowledgeable regarding aether than I think the MSQ tends to depict the wol, they studied as much as they could before they left home! I also headcanon they have not been able to cast since In From the Cold--it really messed up their ability to channel their aether even using the grimoire as a conduit, so they were forced to become an MCH main since the aetherotransformer collects their aether for them and channels it in a way they could use. But with Steph's help she might be able to cast again soon 👀this is mostly a way the MSQ has affected their job but. I get excited about this bit of Cori lore ajdsfs
24. Does your WoL have any phobias?
hmmm I can't think of anything I might label as a phobia. I think they're probably kind of hyperaware about possession and their own aether composition now lmao I changed my mind. Cori is afraid of Archon loaf and Sharlayan cuisine in general
30. What was their highest point in Shadowbringers? Their lowest? What caused it?
Pretty much most of Shadowbringers was a low point for Cori 😂 but I think the lowest is probably after the fight against Vauthry. They're in pain from the light corruption, G'raha is gone, Uri kept another secret from them, Shtola still can't see them properly and might never again. (After Shtola yeets herself is a close competitor but Cori still had hope that they could bring her back and didn't know about the light corruption or G'raha and Uri yet...). As for the highest, I think that the moment after beating Hades when Shtola tells them "Your aether is as it should be." is like. possibly the happiest Cori has ever been in a single moment 😂 except maybe when Shtola got brought back from the life stream (either time).
#coldshrugs#ask#oc: corisande ymir#ty beloved!!! <3#shadowbringers spoilers#for cori shb was like 85% the pits of despair and 15% they are loved so much and that will keep them going
