iditarod has me biting my nails this year:

-unusual race route (only musher in the field to take this route before is Mitch Seavey in 2003)

-Paige Drobny of Squid Acres Kennels has been holding a tight first or second place position within the race for awhile and has already completed both her mandatory rests. Paige's closest top placement so far is 5th place. If she were to hold on to her lead and win it would be the first time a winner has been a woman since 1990 Susan Butcher

-Quince Mountain racing in his first Iditarod, currently in last. Crossing my fingers he stays in the race.

-six mushers have scratched already.

#iditarod 2025 #really crossing my fingers for another woman winner #bc the fact that the field is pretty much equal gender divide #and we've only ever had two individual women win...#cmon now #paige's improvements since 2018 is impressive #from solid middle to end ish placements to top ten consistently is like....hell yeah #i will also add in the tags that a musher has scratched already due to dog death #i suspect this is not related to race conditions/pushing too hard #but the unspoken kept quiet heart issues that have crept into alaskans and siberians that is currently unsolved #i have known a couple mushers that have both to have perfectly health dogs drop dead for no reason this year #and it seems consistent #as much as people in AHs will like to say they're not so much a breed and have genetic diversity #their genetic diversity is around that of sledding breed purebreds #and they are distinct enough to be picked up by embark as a population #i think people need to start health testing NOW. asap #its not as if tom swann has been telling people to do this for ever and he has so many pedigree files and records of AH health but i digres

favorite thing in asoiaf is that the stark family tree is just filled with haters in every generation. theon stark brandon snow alaric stark cregan stark even ned's brother brandon and lyanna too. even the current kids jon snow robb sansa and arya all have some kendrick lamar level of beef w at least one person. brandon the builder spawned an entire genre of haters

what you consider the average song length

what you consider 'long' for a song, and 'short' for one

a few genres you listen to the most/consider your favorite

#for me i consider 4-5 average #7 minutes or longer is long #2-3 minutes or shorter is notably short #and my favorite genres are rock n hip hop from the 90s-2000s #at least sayin from QotSA bein my fave and listening to Mos Def and a lotta others from that era or newer #hip hop & rap seems to vary quite a bit in song length #hard rock is pretty flatly consistent (esp with sumn like RATM) but any tinge of outer influence can change that #QotSA has their 7-9 minute songs #and Mars Volta n King Gizzard notably have some reaaaal long songs cuz of psych influence #or prog in MV's case

Listen as a fellow Exhausting Man lover I feel like you should all understand that Tommy absolutely sometimes gets so annoyed with Buck he wants to pull his own hair out at the roots.

I feel like you should also know that that feeling is usually followed by a wave of adoration so strong it knocks you off your feet, because in a world where there are so many options, that little freak chose YOU as the one he wants to tell ALL his stupid annoying irrelevant shit to. He brings the whimsy, he brings the "I'm sorry WHAT" eyebrows, he makes fun of you for not being able to wink but he's bad at it too.

And the thing is, when there's Too Much Whimsy going on and you make note of it, it's not the end of the world. Sometimes the whimsy needs to be turned down a few dials.

(Sometimes the whimsy still doesn't get turned down and that's why the Exhausting Man chose an introvert - specifically because they're cool saying "I would like to sit in a quiet room by myself and disassociate for a while" to the Abundance of Whimsy, and they'll probably still get an extra dose on their way out but you're only gonna see them argue about it once in a blue moon.)
