Is there any way to catch up on the lore? This is my first year here and i have no idea who fall or spook is, or that October even used to be human

Oh my, haha, yeah the lore here is all over the place, isnt it? Tho to be honest, those two spirits are a bit hard to explain as I dont know much about them either! But I will try and give you a little TL;DR at least to get you caught up. Fall Fox was the fox who existed before me. He was the one that turned me into the current Spirit Fox. However, we only met once and that was also the last time that I saw him. I know next to nothing about him, other than that.. wel,l he was the fox before me, and he had a bit of an accent (I couldnt exactly tell you what that was) and he was from somewhere very very far away. If im being honest, thinking back on it, my memory is a bit fuzzy so even im not sure if im getting all the details of him right.. So other than that, as far as im concerned and can understand, he must have passed on. So yeah.. he's just as much of a mystery to me as he is to all of you. Spook is another spirit that I met years ago when he appeared in my forest. Our meeting was a bit rocky at first, as I thought he was another spirit like me, but turns out that is not the case. While I am the spirit of the fall harvest/Halloween; he is a spirit that feeds upon fear. He and I are very close friends, and despite our mostly opposing personalities, Spook is quite a joy to have around! However if im being honest, he is quite an enigma and doesnt talk much about himself or his past with me, so there is still much I do not know about him either. He does have his own blog, so you should try asking him questions if you are curious. I promise his bark is worse than his bite.. sometimes.. Outside of that I do try and include tags of all the other spirits that frequent the forest, so looking those up might help answer some questions you might have. Tho not all the spirits here are as welcoming as I, so many of them are still puzzling to me as well. I do not mind answering more specific questions as well, I understand it is hard to keep up with all the things that happen here since I am only here for this one month! I hope this helps!

on a completely separate note; shizun luo binghe with a disciple shen yuan who fell into the abyss??? *thinks about LBH canonically stealing SQQ's corpse for 5 years* he'd hallucinate i think. like, like visual and audial hallucinations.

Keeps thinking he's seeing SQQ in the corner of his eyes, or wandering between the trees, amongst a group of disciples. Thinks he hears him calling for him, but its just the wind or another disciple.

Gets Xiu Ya reforged but patently fucking refuses to make a sword mound. Because his disciple Is Not Dead :))) There was No Body. He's Not Dead. And If You keep Insisting That He Is, He's Gonna Skewer You :). He's holding onto Xiu Ya so he can return his most favored disciple's sword when he returns. It's on his hip right next to Zheng Yang where it's supposed to be.

Also this motherfucker?? does not sleep btw. He has the image of SQQ, wide eyed and hysterical and standing at the mouth of the abyss burned into his fucking eyelids. Can't use the dreamscape to escape it either because he keeps trying to save him and either he does and it's an incredibly cruel trick to wake up to, or he doesn't and he gets his heart broken in several different pieces again.

There is no convincing this man that Shen Qingqiu is dead. Absolutely nothing at all. He is buried so deep in denial that moles would be jealous of how deep he is. He keeps making tea for two in the bamboo house only to remember that it's just him. SQQ's fans are hiding everywhere, little reminders of his presence. He goes to wake up SQQ on the mornings he sleeps in-- only to find the room empty.

IF THIS HAD BEEN WHERE SQQ WAS THE HALF-HEAVENLY DEMON INSTEAD IT WOULD'VE BEEN SO GREAT.#and by great i mean horribly angsty bc SQQ is NOT doing too hot and has. in very SY-like fashion. convinced himself that LBH will kill him #when he finds out he's a demon. so when it comes out i have this mental image of him lunging at LBH and LBH flinches back. but SQQ wraps hi #hands around the blade of Zheng Yang and yanks it up so the tip of the blade is digging into his chest where is heart is. LBH can't yank th #sword away without risking slicing into SQQ's hands. SQQ's hair has fallen out of its tail/bun and is now messily spilling down his #back and its NO helping the kinda deranged look he has going on. he's visibly shaking and his eyes keep flittering away and back at LBH's #face. SQQ is looking at the messages from the system warning him that he has to go into the abyss or punishment will occur. he's like.#rambling though. talking about how shizun doesn't *like* unclean things and there is nothing more unclean than a demon. like he is #INSISTING. LBH can't?? get a fucking word in. actually. SY isn't listening that much either anyways. too overwhelmed with the system and #the amount of stress he's under and his crumbling mental state and the innate and primal desire to live even when he's standing in front of #his own executioner. it all ends with him sitting on the ground at the lip of the abyss with his hair falling in his face. he looks so #unkempt and fallen apart and so distinctly *non-Shen Qingqiu* that LBH feels physically ill over it. tears are streaming down SQQ's face #and despite everything he is smiling. its not a nice smile. its a very frayed falling apart at the seams about to crack smile.#he tells shizun not to worry about staining his blade with this disciple's filthy blood because this disciple will take care of it himself.#and then he falls into the abyss before luo binghe can so much as grab him. the only reason LBh doesn't literally jump in after him is bc #he was numb with shock and the abyss was already closed before he could feel his legs again :]

Anyway, I'll elaborate on this in the tags bc omg I'm going to yap your metaphorical ear off.

#SO during the whole “affogato almost takes over the citadel situation” dark cacao cookie [whom i will refer to as DC for my health]#dc basically took all the cookies that were hunting/fishing/patrolling the surrounding lands for food and stuff to make them work #on fortifying the wall #therefore two things happened 1] the cookies who still were hunting for food literally couldn't keep up with the apatites of cookies who #were working super fucking hard on the wall and 2] all the farming imports from the villages near by stopped almost entirely because #it was too dangerous to import their goods or get anything from the citadel [like tools] so they had to keep what they could for themselves #so effectively a famine was starting #and so cookies started eating things they probably shouldn't like deer crackers and wolf treats #looking at you Caramel and crunchy chip #caramel just never fully kicked the habit because it was what she had alot of and she would trade her rations for them with the villages #crunchy chip just allways did that tho. he's just like that #Dc on the other hand grew up in those lands before there was real communication between villages or a citadel to depend on for rations #so famine was common and rough. eatting bark and leaves were common place in his home so while he does eat jellys he never kicked the #craving for tree bark #on the plus side hes got a crazy strong stomach and can eat just about anything #whereas chocolate wafer is from a small village near the hollyberry kingdom so they have allways had an abundance of fruits and juice to #snack on. they managed to convince dc to add dried berrys to their imported goods list and now they are considerd a sweet treat #idk how to put this in kinda organically so ill just say the dc kingdom is a place that depends on imported goods heavily #things like precious metals and food usually comes from the hollyberry kingdom [and gc before her isolation]#in return dc kingdom provides military support and has the best medicine in all of earthbread. vampire au where they can only drink the blood type they were before they were turned. other blood has an almost poisonous effect, burning them from within like acid and drinking too much of it can kill them

in the old days, before the knowledge of blood types, it made humans they could feed on absolutely precious. they're kept safe, pampered and doted on; a vampire’s most prized possession

attacking another vampire's human is seen as the highest insult; not only is it a slight against them, it also carries the implication of "i want you to starve"

it's also used as the cruelest of punishments; starving a vampire for months, until they're feral with hunger just for their torturer to throw in a random human, watching them desperately suck down poison, their instincts begging them to keep drinking even as it kills them

ghost is one of the few who survived it; thrown in a pit so deep, he saw stars in the middle of the day, left with nothing but the dried bodies of the humans roba drained without care, others with their throats slit, blood he can't drink spilled out around them

a taunt of the one thing he needs but will never get

but ghost hasn't survived this long just to give up here

he refuses to die in this stinking, rotted pit

ghost is a force of nature as he descends over roba's manor; killing any who wander into his path until the halls run red. until he gets his hands on roba and tells him a secret:

vampires can feed on the blood of any vampire, regardless of blood type

it becomes a legend in vampire high society; if you starve another, you'd best make sure they actually die

otherwise you might end up piled in a dining room, the vampire you left for dead lounging on a throne of corpses with his fangs lodged in your throat

ghost decimates roba's empire, burning it to the ground until no one dares to speak his name in fear of incurring his wrath. it's incredibly taboo for a vampire to feed off another but ghost's too powerful for anyone to challenge him and the other vampires are too scared to try. scared of what he's willing to do, the lengths he'll go to; not that they'll ever admit it

soap is the first human he ever brings to court; delicately bathed in the finest silks and jewels, his throat always bare so he can show off ghost's ownership, his bite framed in lace

he's not like the delicate waifs the other vampires show off; he doesn't cling to his master, demure and submissive. he shows off his teeth as often as any vampire, fully willing to rip out the throats of any who insult him or ghost

a feral master needs a just as feral pet
