helloooo have a messy scribble page of oc concepts. unfortunately, im in love and will now proceed to ramble At Length

but before that! rudimentary height chart!

all i know rn is Mairy - the cow - is about the same height as Howdy/Barnaby/Poppy (around 8ft), Hettie & Daisy are in the Wally/Julie/Sally category (around 3ft), and Jesterly is more Frank/Eddie (around 4ft). Derry Drake is fuckoff huge, and Casey is... idk really. tall but not That tall

so. rambles. i... have those, yeah

Mairy Love - she/her - lesbian a gorgeous white/blue cow! originally she was gonna be pink/white, but blue/white is my favorite color combo and honestly? it's dairy colors to me. she's big! she's strong! she's very gentle and sweet but also takes shit from no one, even though she doesn't like confrontation much (unless its playful roughhousing! jokes fly completely over her head! i'm thinking she tends to a lovely orchard of various fruit trees, and probably cultivates some crops for fun as well. maybe seasonal ones? pumpkins for the spooky season, fir trees for those snowy days, etc.

Casey J. Mittens - he/him - aro this orange fella is scaredy cat central! unfortunately for him, he's also curious to a fault! curiosity killed the cat, and he fears the day that rings true for him! he'd rather curl up at home or in a cozy tree, crocheting something cute from one of his many balls of yarn than do anything else. he tries to be a voice of reason, but is too easily convinced otherwise. he's that friend who says "we shouldn't be doing this" as he wholeheartedly assists in the shenanigan in question.

Hettie (currently undecided) - she/her - bi true to her honeybee heritage, Hettie is a florist! she boasts an impressive array of flowers that she tends to like her life depends on it. she's always running around to make sure they're all getting the best care - and she's always checking in on her pals to make sure they're taken care of, too. she's a busy bee who wouldn't know a day's rest if it stung her on the ass! It takes a lot to make her mad, but everybody better watch out when her wings start buzzing

Daisy Hop - she/him - pan i actually created Daisy as a supplementary character for a certain au, but realized i could find a place for her in this little group. i'm thinking he runs a little shop - a roadside stall, more like - where she can both sell her own homemade candy & his friends' stuff! she's the only one in the group that can keep up with Hettie's energy, and even surpass it at times. though unlike Hettie, Daisy knows how to take (and appreciate) a break!

Jesterly - whatever/is/funniest - Derry a menace. they love pranks above all else, oftentimes at the expense of others. he's always up to something and is never not scheming something! there's always Someone to bother! in all honesty she's more like an annoying stray cat that no one can get rid of... and they better not try, or they'll face the wrath of this fool's Very large partner! The jester's cap never comes off, and neither does the mask!

Derry Drake - they/them - Jesterly there's no sugarcoating it - Derry is a big lazy grump! it's almost impossible to get them out of their cave, or off of any place they decide to nap. the only thing that can reliably get them moving is the promise - or prospect - of food. it's a wonder how they've accumulated such a hoard of random things in the back of their cave, seeing as they rarely get up at all. they're incredibly nearsighted and bite first, ask questions later - after all, who knows if the colorful blob in front of them is food or not! better to be safe than hungry!

currently in my mind they have their own little community deep in the woods. Daisy lives in a modified burrow, Maisy has a cute farmhouse, Casey lives in a cozy treehouse, Hettie has a small cottage, and Derry & Jesterly live in a cave. within their community, they share practically everything. want a snack? pluck something from the orchard. need a new pair of mittens? ask Casey! i suppose you could say they're communists <3 (except for Daisy. she won't charge his friends, but anyone else is free game)

Mairy and Hettie have romantic tension, Daisy and Derry are the only ones who can tolerate Jes, Mairy wants Jes dead, Casey is terrified of Derry, Daisy's rapid-fire speech confuses everyone but Hettie, etc. i should make a chart for funsies...

I've been mulling over comics for Rylie's journey for the past like 3 years now, and I'm thinking I may just do one big narrated summary comic one of these days instead. I'm always doodling her but a lot of details have been vague or changing since her debut in a certain twitter zine

despite being quite into shipping dynamics and wolships (I gave my girl like. six. she's got a complicated love life) I do get incredibly annoyed when some people discuss npcs being into the wol as "canonical"

There's only like one or two npcs I can think of where there was explicit flirting, but most of the time it's just "oh this character has deep feelings of admiration, dedication and respect for the wol and you can interpret that as you like." and a lot of it is my aromantic ass, but when playing I mostly didn't see characters like g'raha, aymeric, etc as inherently romantic. I definitely went "I see why people ship this" but as someone who gets very giddy and eager about wanting to be friends with someone I think is really cool I could also see their interactions in that light.

honestly this isnt even directed at people who like shipping with these characters but moreso people ive seen talk about how they dont like "how many characters are pushed onto them" and im begging you...you dont have to interpret it that way. especially if its making you unhappy. but also just when anyone discusses characters being "canonically in love with the wol" I find it very often makes me go "ok we clearly had very different outlooks" and it can just be very alienating at times to see people act like romance is the one true canon interpretation.

RAMBLING INCOHERENTLY FOR TOO MANY PARAGRAPHS WATCH OUT

oc spaces are weird. like i'm never going to bash on anyone for doing ocs differently than me, but like ,,, the way i do ocs isn't. the usual? and,,, of course not, yeah, i'm making a full on comic that's taken me 6 years to get this far and will take me another decade to finish, not everybody is capable of doing that or wants to. but it is odd to me sometimes how much having A Story, a full story, is just not normal in oc spaces.

most often, i see ocs that are just a design and personality and a couple relationships (which is awesome i have many of those too) and they clink them together like dolls. sometimes the ocs are JUST the design with no personality (which is awesome i have many of those too). fandom ocs are pretty common too. dnd ocs go crazy. ,,,but i kinda rarely see people with ocs like mine with a full fleshed out universe and storyline just for themselves. which is fine most of the time, but when i do try to talk about it and get excited about it, it's kinda ignored. cause it's more welcomed to talk about individual ocs and why they're sooooo silly. i see it happen with people that aren't me too, it's not just a me thing, in the oc spaces i'm in it's So Common to just ignore anything more than a pretty design.

ok so i guess if i want to find people like me, i should be looking for other authors! but authers don't really like me either. i'm not a novelist, i'm a comic artist and i'll always be a comic artist. i don't do things in the right way because i'm making Comics (not stories.) and comics aren't real stories in a lot of places. not to mention online it's mostly taken up by fanfic authors, which i am very much not

ok. so i just need to find other comic artists. right? i can do that right? NO. because of webtoon the webcomic creator community is constantly in fucking shambles and i'm still doing it wrong because i'm doing everything webtoon hates. so i don't even want to look at comic spaces.

so i go back to oc spaces where they will at least look at my pretty designs and go wow they're so pretty while i try to tell people i have a full comic about them if they wanna know more and they look away

this is what i mean by 'the clan au doesnt have a set story'. theres all these places that it can branch off of and the possibilities r endless and i have *counting* ..14 scenarios/storylines so far and every time i think of a new scenerio another gets added<3

i havent done much with the kny-canon leaning ones they're more just like if i did follow canon thats how it'd be done ykno? im thinking they get raided by the shinazugawas for control of the trade routes and either they both survive like that one post or only giyu survives, either way Sakonji takes in the living tomioka(s)

most of the stories arent tied down to canon theyre more whatever worldbuilding i have and stories pop up from them- one of the first ones was the shina-tomi failed peacetalks bc i wanted to draw sanemi & giyuu fighting (i just realized i placed the branches perfectly bc thats closer to canon than the others lol)

if the peacetalks worked(wouldve been later/after sanemi took over) then it kinda snowballed into a few nearby/allied clans forming a village, then from that theres the Tomi-Daki diplomat/trade envoy w the fox trio(giyu makomo & sabito)

the rescues are like. little to no formal interactions between any of the three clans(shina-kumeno is always allied), in the first one its winter and giyu's on his way home when he catches the trail of bloodline hunters and saves Genya & Masachika.

in the other one giyu's pinned by a rogue shinobi and sanemi & sabito both find him at the same time and they make a lil truce bc giyu has severe chakra exhastion and cant make it home

undercover mission has one thats purely sanegiyu; sanemi is disguised as Kazura & giyu as Gikuro and actually i looked back at my notes and this ones like. in the past before the village branch. so it connects to that one but it can also be a standalone. the other undercover mission is sabisanegiyu where sabito & giyuu went undercover as a master/servant thing and sanemi was disgusted by it and didnt know that it wasnt Real so he tried to 'save' giyuu and got invited to the polycule<3

the lil unnamed branches inbetween is that one where giyu got chased out the clan by tsutako for killing their mom, there was a spy who had taken her place and giyu noticed and killed the spy but tsutako only saw him killing their mom and she lost her shit in dispair & heartbreak. theres a branch for Giyu staying alone, Sabito ditching the urokodakis for his packmate while makomo stays behind to fix things with tsutako, and both Sabito & Makomo ditching the urokodakis for their packmate

the arranged marriages are sanegiyu with the first branch being after sanemi takes over and giyu asking for it ot of goodwill & he likes him(his pack gets to stay w him). other two Kyogo requested(demanded) it for trade routes, he doesnt allow the urokodakis to go with bc theyre Not Tomiokas and these routes more heavily portray the different biology of the southerners/mountain-pass(a/b/o)

ones angsty bc sanemi is like. CRUSHED that he cant find love on his own. his father takes literally everything away from him. while sanemi is kind & respects giyu he doesnt really care for him. and for giyu to go from a very close-knit family-oriented culture to the stone cold-cutthroat/conservative/severely traumatized/individualist culture of the shinazigawas with literally No One there for him he gets pretty fucked up w the emotional neglect

the other ones less angsty bc sanemi actually Tries in their relationship and finds that he actually enjoys giyu's company- and cuddles. the cuddles r fuckin great. but kyogo's still a cunt and a massive hindrance to emotional and mental healing of everyone around him. but sanemi's not alone now so its Better
