Put it on me - Roronoa Zoro x Reader
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: A shared stash of moonshine leads to you pouring your heart out to Zoro. Despite his rather cold exterior, he takes your words seriously and asks you to put some of your burden on him if it ever gets too heavy.
WORDCOUNT: ~ 1.8k
Brought to you by my obsession with this painfully relatable song:
“Save some for me.”
Zoro’s voice wakes you up from the trance. You’ve been mindlessly drinking and reminiscing about the fight for what had to be at least two hours now. Enough time to slur your words and muddy your thoughts but the latter, as welcome as it would be, doesn’t seem to come. Flashes of scenes and echoes of voices still haunt you.
The swordsman nudges the axe you used to crack open the barrel. Quite crude but it works as it should - both a plug and a tap, depending on the blade's position. A spicy, dry stench fills the air as Zoro pours himself some of the dark-coloured moonshine.
He takes a large swing of the mysterious alcohol and winces. Very unlike him. A troubled cough escapes his chest.
“What is this?” he asks.
“The nightmare of hangovers yet to pass, I like to call it.” Used to the questionable taste of the beverage or simply numb due to your current state of light intoxication, you’re unbothered as you take another sip. The liquor burns your throat right down to your stomach. You can almost feel it wreaking havoc on your organism. Good. “We’re both alive and not blind, so definitely not methanol. Maybe it tastes like mouldy socks but it gets the job done.”
Zoro sits down on the ground next to you. His body is suspiciously close to yours, thigh to thigh and shoulder to shoulder, but you’ve grown used to it. It’s an open secret between the two of you - he’s allowing both himself and you this kind of intimacy as long as it remains unaddressed. If it did, he’d have to admit he’s not as aloof towards you as he likes to make himself look and that is not something Roronoa Zoro has the courage to confess.
“Why are you drinking alone?”
“I’m not. You’re here,” you say as you gently poke his arm.
He chuckles and shakes his head. Zoro takes another sip and winces again but not as much as before. The ‘mouldy socks’ flavour is growing on him. Or maybe it’s the alcohol content?
“You can’t fool me,” he says in a low, serious tone. “Something’s on your mind.”
Zoro looks at you out of the corner of his eyes. His gaze is bright, perceptive. Even if you try, you can’t lie and convince him that everything’s in order. It seems that Zoro already knows your mood is foul, just can’t quite put his finger on the why. For a man who claims to be unbothered and uncaring, he sure does spend a lot of time and energy and studying your little habits and quirks. One might even say he appears to have a particular affinity for you.
“I ate shit back in the village,” you mumble without looking at him. You almost puke bolting down the rest of the dark moonshine. “Complete failure. Embarrassing doesn’t cover even half of it.”
Stumbling over the air and your own feet, you get up and pour yourself another cup of alcohol. You can see Zoro’s troubled gaze following your movements but he doesn’t say anything or try to stop you, although he’s sure you’ve had enough of strong drinks for the night.
“You did fine,” he says awkwardly. Despite meaning his words, niceties still have a problem making it through his throat. “Aside from leaving your left flank wide open but you’d have to die and be reborn to stop doing that.”
Sitting back down next to Zoro, you lose your balance and fall on your backside. Some of the moonshine spills and soaks your shirt. You don’t care about the stain for now but you surely will in the morning when the putrid smell fills your bedroom and refuses to be washed out.
“It was everything but fine,” you scold him.
Surprised, Zoro looks at you with furrowed eyebrows. Never before has he seen you so hung up about mistakes. Normally, you’d shrug and laugh and just say something along the lines of “shit happens, we’ll be better next time”. Still, no matter how much he racked his brain, he simply couldn’t think of anything in particular that could get you like that. Nothing about the day and its battles stands out to him.
“Nami getting hurt was my fault,” you admit. “Luffy and Usopp too. Shit, everything was my fault.” Out of frustration, you rub your face with your free hand.
“Nonsense,” he easily dismisses your self-blame. “You couldn’t have known about the whole human-turned-arsenal crap.” Zoro takes another swing of the mysterious moonshine. This time, he doesn’t wince or cough. Mouldy socks are beginning to taste like champagne. “I don’t think anyone could,” he adds quietly.
You hit the floor with a clenched fist.
“But I did, Zoro,” you drone your words. The image of the pirate captain is clear as day before your eyes. “That’s the thing. The moment I saw that man I knew something was wrong. He moved in a strange way and the way his clothes fit him… It was right there, in front of me. And I was blind like a drunk bat stuck in a pile of cow dung.”
“Hunch isn’t exactly the best strategy. You might as well have been wrong about him and attacked an innocent man.”
“Well, he wasn’t innocent, was he, Zoro?” The anger is rising within you. Why wouldn’t he just accept your fault? Why is he so frustratingly stubborn at putting the blame elsewhere? “I could have prevented all of this or at least given us an opportunity to prepare before Usopp got half of his bones broken with a cannonball. And all of this, Nami nearly dead, because when my moment came, I failed. I hesitated. I questioned my judgment. Like I always do.”
The wooden floor is hit yet again when you look for a way to let out your anger.
“I can’t believe I’m the one saying this, but,” Zoro makes a pause and clears his throat,” you’re being too hard on yourself.”
A silence falls between you.
The air in the cramped storage room is stuffy, soaking with a plethora of strong smells: damp wood, smoked fish, the dark liquor you’re drinking with the swordsman, aged cheeses that Sanji seems to be a fan of, roasted coffee beans… But all of those aromas are strangely comforting to you, the smells that remind you of a gathering of adventurous underdogs that have grown to be a family.
A gathering that you’ve almost killed today with your incompetence.
“Truthfully, I wish I was like you,” you finally break the silence. Zoro gives you a questioning look. “You never fail, always prepared and ready to fight. Even when you do make mistakes, which is rare might I add, you can prevent anyone else from getting hurt because of you. I wish I had the power to always do the right things and do them well. When will a day come when I finally know how to act? What to do? I make the same stupid mistakes over and over again and nothing seems to change no matter how hard I try. Maybe I’m just broken and you lot are doomed for hanging around me.” For a moment, you look into your cup. Your reflection in the dark beverage is rippling, making your face hardly recognizable. Just like when you compare who you are to who you should be. “At least in my mind, in my fantasies, I'm the hero that saves me,” you whisper to yourself and down the rest of your drink. It’s easier to be delusional when you can’t string a coherent sentence.
The realization hits Zoro like a derailed train. Of course he’s never seen you get hung up over your mistakes - you’ve been holding it inside, beating yourself up away from everyone’s eyesight. Your otherwise happy-go-lucky exterior is a mere facade, the face of someone you’d like to be. And the more you realize it’s not your true face, the more upset you get. How long have gone holding yourself to an impossible ideal? Hating yourself for being anything but perfect and imposing?
How heavy is the real burden on your shoulders?
"I'll do it for you,” he offers quietly.
Your confused gaze meets the confident glint in his eyes. He looks sure of himself - more certain than he normally is. A smile threatens to pull up one corner of his lips.
"Do what?" you ask.
"I'll be the hero that saves you."
A bitter chuckle escapes your lips and echoes throughout the small storage closet. The sound bounces off the wooden walls and comes back to you with a certain depth and delay, making you feel as though it’s the world laughing at you and the poor sod that offers to help you - you don’t hold hands with someone who easily catches on fire, burning everything around them. That’s just stupid.
“Thanks but that still makes me the world’s biggest loser who can’t put the money where their mouth is and is stuck in a perpetual cycle of doom.”
You look away, staring ahead, but Zoro’s eyes linger on you. Sure, he can fight pirates and animals and fishmen and all the strange horrors lurking in the world but how in hell is he going to fight something immaterial? How powerless he feels with three swords at his side and yet no way to fight the foul-tongued beast in the back of your head.
"Just put it on me," he presses on. "If you need help, put it on me. If you're going through Hell, put it on me.” Then, to your surprise, he firmly grabs your hand, squeezing it in a meaningful manner. “Seriously."
You try to wiggle your palm out of his hold but it proves useless - his grip is iron, although not painful. No matter how much you’re enjoying this uncharacteristic intimacy, you know better than to get used to it. Zoro deserves better than to be the victim of your ricochet.
“You’ve got enough on your head already,” you say in a stern voice. “My own bullshit is the last thing you need.”
For the first time in weeks, Roronoa Zoro smiles. It’s not a smile of amusement, of being entertained. No, it’s a smile of seeing something, or someone, he holds dear. In other words, it’s not his mind that rejoices but his very heart and soul.
“I want to worry about you,” he confesses.
Tears are prickling at your eyes and you’re doing everything you can to keep them from falling. Alas, you’re quite far from sober and self-control is not an ability within your grasp. Your face feels hot as teardrops slowly roll down your cheeks.
A bitter scoff leaves your lips. “It will be an unending horror.”
“I’m not afraid,” he reassures you casually. “And we’re in the middle of the sea. I’ve got time.”
Hesitantly, you rest your head against his chest. Zoro welcomes the gesture, letting go of your hand and putting his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer to himself.

Youngest Shadow- Field Trips
Tumblr media
One | two | three | four | five | six |
Bella and I stood next to each other, we had just gotten to our science field trip. I observed Bella’s eyes that went to the Cullens as usual. I then hear foot steps behind and before I can warn Bella, Mike pretends to be Dr. Frankenstein.
“Look! You’re moving. You’re alive!” He shouts, both Bella and I cringe. “Yeah false alarm.”
“Actually, I’m glad you’re not dead cause- well, that would suck, plus I wanted to ask you even though it’s like a month away…” He continued to talk, not even paying attention to the fact that she wasn’t facing his direction.
I watch Edward look up and over at our direction. Bella finally snaps out of it and looks over at Mike. It was a little late.
“So, what do you think?” He notices her blank expression. “You want to go? To prom. With me.”
I cover my mouth, looking away after seeing her horrified look. I try my best to refrain from laughing.
“Prom, as in dance. I uh- have to go somewhere. Yo Jacksonville. Yeah.” She sprouts out her lie.
“You can’t go another weekend?”
“Non-refundable ticket. Maybe you should ask Jessica.” We all glance over to across the lawn where Jessica stood. Mike then looks at me and my eyes widen.
“Don’t think about it. You’re not my type.” I sternly tell him.
He presses his lips together, sighing then going over to Jessica.
Both Bella and I make eye contact, laughing from that horrible ordeal.
Throughout the day I kept seeing two specific Cullens looking my way. And as that happened, each time I would look behind me as if there was something more interesting there.
Of course I would sneak some looks at them too but I’m hoping they didn’t notice or I wasn’t as obvious as they were.
We were now walking through the greenhouse and I saw Bella try to go up to Edward so instead of staying in between that I decide to walk ahead. Moving passed Edward and accidentally bumping into non other than Alice who seemed to have gripped tighter to Jasper.
Her grip loosened after seeing me. “I’m so sorry.” I bowed my head down a tiny bit to not look them in the eyes. She smiled motioning with her hand. “It’s quite alright.” Her voice was angelic, my face warmed up a bit and I start to feel embarrassed at how I was acting.
“I won’t be a bother, sorry again.” I stammered, going to walk away but she gently takes my hand for a second. I gasp at how cold she was.
“You can hang with us if you’d like.” My eyes wander over to Jasper who does a small nod, agreeing with his partner.
I shrug as a why not, finally straightening my posture and looking them in the eyes for only seconds at a time before looking somewhere else.
“Did those hurt?” She points to my piercings, since I flinch for a moment she instantly takes her hand back. “Oh, not really. I guess my tongue did but only the healing part.” I stick my tongue out, showing her. She stares at it.
I smile, closing my mouth, her nose scrunches in response. “I couldn’t imagine the feeling of metal in my mouth all the time.” She mumbles, almost inaudible.
“It doesn’t bother you after awhile. It kinda becomes you.” I say, purposefully adding a little dramatics at the end. I notice Jasper watching me intently. I smile and him and I didn’t even know his eyes could get wider but they did.
“Here, walk in between us.” Alice takes my sleeved arm, nod even between the fabric it still feels cold. I wonder if it bothers her.
I do as suggested, Jasper doesn’t seem so tense anymore either.
“You play Volleyball, I heard?” She asks, I grin just by the fact that she knew. “Yes! Out last game is coming up.”
“Really?” Alice looks up at me, I nod about to say something but Jasper beats me.
“We should go to it.”
My eyes light up but quickly I shot it down going back to a neutral expression.
“Yeah that would be awesome.” I agree.
For the rest of the trip I stood next to the two, it felt different but fresh as it wasn’t the same people I’ve been talking to for so long.
Someone other than Bella, Charlie, Jacob and Angela that enjoyed talking to me without using me to talk to my sister.
The buses arrived and we made our way over there, I saw Bella and Edward talking and it seemed to be upsetting my sister. I begin to walk over, picking up the pace and Alice joins.
“Hi, will you be riding with us?” She asks Bella but before my sister can say anything Edward interrupts. “No our bus is full.” He turns to go on the bus.
“Here’s my number, we should be-“
“Alice, come on.” Edward grabs her, stopping her from giving me the tiny paper. Jasper joins them, he gives me a sympathetic look and I give a small smile in return.
What just happened..?
“Your mother called, again.” Charlie calls after Bella who just stormed into the house trying to go upstairs to her room.
“Your fault for telling her about the accident.” Bella shrugs.
“She always did know how to worry.” His voice sounded sad. “But she’s changed, too. She seems happy. Phil sounds all right.”
“He is.” Bella goes up the stairs, I watch her spit the wedding photo Charlie still hasn’t seemed to take down.
The next day at lunch I stared at the Cullen table, unaware that I was doing it as I was thinking. Looking right at Alice and Jasper, infatuated with their relationship. Wondering what it was like behind closed doors. What kind of people they truly were. Why were they so nice to me at the field trip.
“La Push, baby. You in?” Eric and both my sister and I.
“Should I know what that means?” Bella raises an eyebrow.
“La Push beach, down on the Quileute rez. We’re all going after school. Big waves coming in.” Mike further explains. I already knew as Jacob had told me about the waves.
“And I don’t just surf the internet.” Eric makes a horrible joke.
“Eric, you stood up once. On a foam board.” Jessica called him out and even though I’m not fond of her. That was pretty funny.
“There’s whale watching too. You both should come with.” Angela chimes in and I smile at her.
“I’ll only go if you are.” I nudge her since she was right next to me. Her eyes widen at first but then she grins back.
“La Push baby.”
“I’ll go you stop saying that.” Bella says.
I knew Jake would be there with the others.
So of course I’m going to go. Plus, Angela is pretty cool. I love hanging out with her.
As Bella gets up to get food from the salad bar, I stand up as well but to go to the bathroom. “Where you going? Lunch isn’t over.” Eric questions me, they all look at me and I roll my eyes before turning to look at them. “I can’t piss anymore?”
Only reason I truly sit with them is for Bella and now Angela.
“Gosh you can’t ask questions anymore.” Jessica mutters, thinking I wouldn’t have heard. I raise my eyebrows, giving her a look. She presses her lips together and I head to the bathroom like I was going to do.
I enter the restroom, I actually wasn’t going to use it but to take a minute to myself before classes and everything. I normally am not overwhelmed so easily but something came over me like whiplash.
I heard the door open. “Sorry.” I whisper, going to get out of the persons way. “Hey, you alright?” The voice was small, gentle and I knew exactly who it was
“Oh, hey Alice. Yeah, I’m fine.” I force a smile, she stares at my face for a few seconds as if she was noticing me for the first time. Her expression was blank. Now it looks like she is staring off into space. I wave my hand for a minute, wondering if she’s okay.
Suddenly a smile appears upon her face. “If you say so, sweetheart.” She acts as if nothing happened. Going towards the mirror to fix her hair even though it laid perfectly. I watched every movement.
“So, you ready for that big game tomorrow?” She asks, I let out a shaky breath, laughing a bit at myself for being so nervous.
“Big time. Everyone will be there. We’ll make the paper if we win.” I tell her and she turns to face me once again.
“Really? That’s huge!” She squeals like it was actually important to her. “Yeah um, and I was thinking there’s this thing today. You should come, bring Jasper too.” I start,
Her head turns to the side. “We’re going to the beach if you’re interested.”
“Which one?”
I perk up to her answer, not expecting her to actually be interested.
“La Push.” I watch her expression falter the tiniest bit.
“Oh, how many people?”
“Uh, quite a bit.” I frown.
“I would love to. Really but Jasper has pretty bad social anxiety.” She sadly tells.
“I totally get it. Don’t worry. I’ll see you both at my game tomorrow though, right?” She seemed relieved by my response.
“Of course.”
“I keep thinking Eric’s going to ask me to prom, then he just doesn’t.” Angela tells Bella and I as we walk by the driftwood of the beach.
“You should ask him.” I tell her, Bella nods agreeing. “Take control. You’re a strong independent woman.” Bella exclaims like a motivational speaker.
“I am?”
“Totally.”
“Bella!? [Name]!” We three look up to see Jacob, Sam and Embry.
“Yes, you are.” I tell Angela before we acknowledge Jacob and end this conversation with her thinking to herself.
“Guys, this is Jacob.” I say.
“Are you stalking us?” Bella jokes.
“You’re on my rez remember?” He reminds her, “also you surfing? [Name] I’m surprised you’re not suited up too.” I just flip him off. “Definitely not.” Bella says.
“Keep her company, her date bailed.” Jessica teases and this is where I’m glad I’m not close with these people and they didn’t join me to the bathroom and heard my conversation.
Also I don’t think they would be cool with the idea of girls finding other girls attractive… sexually.
“What date?” Eric butts in.
“She invited Edward.”
“To be polite.” Bella argues, obviously embarrassed. “I think it’s nice she invited him. No one ever does.” Angela inquires, I think she is so sweet.
“Because Cullens a freak.” Mike sharply tells. “You got that right.” Sam speaks up and i grimace, not expecting that from him.
“You know them?” Bella questions.
“The Cullens don’t come here.”
I notice Jacob give Sam a look.
Everyone kind of stands there awkwardly and Bella ends up pulling Jacob aside, and she seems different. Like she’s trying to be flirtatious with him. And Jacob still having that puppy love crush is absolutely falling for it. I shake my head, sighing hoping he doesn’t get hurt. But I have a feeling Bella’s going to accidentally do so.
I go over to Sam and Embry as Angela decides to hand around Eric. “You got a little hot-headed out there.” I poke Sam who huffs in response. “Cullens are that bad?” I turn to Embry who looks down.
“You’ve heard the story before at the campfire, [Name]” Sam says, basically telling me I should remember one of these stories that I was told years ago. I press my lips together, shrugging my shoulders. “The Cullens were supposedly descended from an enemy clan. Does that ring a bell?”
I shake my head, “not really.”
“They claimed to be different than the normal enemy. So we made a treaty with them. If they promised to stay off Quileute lands we wouldn’t expose what they really were to humans.” Sam explains further, cutting it short than what Billy would have said.
“What are they-“
A scream emits from further down near the water, it was Angela being chased by Eric who holds a dead crustacean.
I end up not repeating my question as it seems to upset Sam. Going to join Jake and my sister who sat together.

growth spurt pt.2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: teenage boy - 0 ┃boobs - 1
mike wheeler x fem!reader
part 1
it was only two weeks into school and mike was already hardcore avoiding you. he was thankful he only had two classes with you, but it was still too much. he spent most of the classes he had with you hiding in the bathroom. the rest of the party had already figured it out, easily taking notice of his behavior around you.
eddie was the first to notice, just happening to catch wheeler’s face when you walked in the first day with a short skirt swaying atop your thighs. mike would’ve fainted if eddie hadn’t subtly caught him and swept him away into an empty classroom nearby.
‘are you kidding me wheeler?” eddie whisper yelled holding mike by his shoulders against the wall, ‘you can’t even look at her in a skirt without your knees buckling?’
mike just stared wide eyed, a part of his brain still thinking about your silky thighs
‘jesus christ kid. you gotta get it together.’ eddie let go and started to leave the classroom. ‘you are in for one hell of a school year kiddo’ and with those wise words of wisdom bouncing around mike’s head, eddie left for his first class.
but that was ancient history. now everyone knew about mike’s major feelings towards you. now you were seated next to him at lunch, wearing that skirt again, your plush thighs pushing up against his. mike was shooting daggers at the rest of the group who had coincidentally taken up every chair except for the one closest to him, leaving the seat for the last one at the table. which was always you.
mike thought everything would be fine, he could ignore your thighs. yeah it might take all of his brainpower to do it, but he knew he could.
then you asked if he could help you with the latest math homework, his strongest subject. your worst.
he reluctantly obliged, happy to help you- just afraid of embarrassing himself. he sat and watched as you reached over to pull the work out of your bag, giving him the most perfect view of your tits sitting so pretty in your tiny shirt, threatening to spill out. he quickly looked away, not wanting to be creepy, trying to push out the dirty thoughts that began to fill his brain… oh the things he could do to those perfect fuckin tits. looking up- his eyes met dustin and eddie’s, both of them sitting across the table snickering at their little plan working just as they knew it would.
mike only looked back at you when you gently tapped his arm. his eyes dragging over to you looking up at him with those eyes. fuck.
‘are you sure you want to help me mikey? you don’t have to, i can go ask someone from my class if you don’t wanna’
‘nononono i wanna help i swear’ mike replied, his voice a little higher than usual.
‘i just zoned out for a second that’s all’ he smiled, looking down at her paper to begin to help.
he made it through two questions before he got a boner. all you’d done was put your hand on his thigh and compliment him on how well he did at explaining to you a simply question. his cheeks flared pink and his smile spread in a thin line across his face as he turned away. he then made it through questions three and four.
‘ohhh!! now i get it mikey! oh i’m so stupid.’ you pouted, erasing your previous equation and replacing it with the correct one mike just helped you come up with. you were the only one who called him mikey. he blushes every time you say it.
‘oh shut it y/n you’re literally perfect in every way’ he mumbled, going grab a pencil he dropped seconds prior. you look up at him with a grin so big you looked like a kid on christmas morning. you didn’t reply, deciding to simply kiss his cheek as a thank you.
he then promptly ran from his chair in the cafeteria to… literally anywhere you weren’t. he claimed to have forgotten to grab something from his locker, but everyone at that table knew that was the biggest fucking lie of the year. he avoided you for the rest of the day, thankful your two classes together were both before lunch. he skipped meeting everyone at eddie’s car after school for one last conversation before going their separate ways, instead just hopping on his bike and speeding home to… think about things. definitely not masturbate to the thought of you kissing his cheek, slowly trailing down to his neck. slowly sucking and biting his cheeks and mouth while you rode his rock hard di-
‘knock, knock. mike? you in there?’ your voice came from outside his door.
‘uh yeah! one second!’ mike yelled while trying to pull his pants fully up and cover his massive boner with his blankets and pillows.
‘come in?’
he watched as you slowly opened the door and stuck your head in, checking to make sure everything was okay before fully entering and softly shutting the door behind you. you stood by his door for a moment before slowly climbing in his bed to sit on the headboard next to him. he sat and watched, praying you didn’t notice his heavy breathing and blushy face. you obviously noticed, but decided not to question or comment.
‘uhhhhh. is there a reason your here?’ mike asked softly, trying to seem as nice as possible while also trying to get you to leave as fast as fucking possible. feeling himself get impossibly harder as he watched your face focus, sweat still shining from your bike ride over. and still wearing that skirt.
‘yeah. there is.’ you said. instead of turning to look at him you looked forward, not even looking in his direction, but you could feel his eyes on you.
‘you’ve been avoiding me so much lately. and i don’t know if it’s purposefully or not. but i just wanna know why mike. i didn’t get to see you all summer and now that i’m here you rarely speak to me. and what the actual fuck happened at lunch today? just running off like that? you could’ve just said you didn’t want to help me or-’
‘i like you.’
you froze. silence filled the room, you looked over at mike and now his face was away from yours.
‘i can’t think around you. that’s why i’ve been avoiding you. i just can’t handle being around you and not being able to stare and admire you without hoping you don’t catch me. i want to hold you in my arms. i can’t even tell you how many hard-ons i’ve got from you just saying my name. i can’t function around you anymore. you’re just too perfect.
mike looked at you, trying to gauge your reaction. you were beaming. your cheeks were red from blush and your eyes squinted in that cute way they do when you smile at something genuine.
and with that you simply kissed him.
his eyes closed with the kiss and you felt him melt into your touch. pulling away he looked at you. his big doe eyes looking straight into yours, foreheads touched together as you breathed in each others air. you gave him one last peck before moving to rest your head on his shoulder.
‘i like you too mikey.’

SUITS | 2.02
He doesn't want to force Mike to do something he doesn't want to. Harvey is too in love with that. But it was the right decision. Mike won't be able to build a relationship with someone who doesn't know about his secret. He doesn't know how to lie to those he loves. Therefore, all that remains for Harvey is to pat the newcomer on the back, gently touching the edge of hair growth and invite him to drink.
Now is the time for this. And if Mike falls asleep upset and drunk on Harvey's couch, continuing to cuddle under someone else's hands, then who is Harvey to deny a puppy a roof over his head? He has no malicious intent. Of course not. It's just that Harvey was the first to light stars in cornflower blue eyes, and he's going to be the only one. All he needs is to remove a sweet and kind assistant from the field of view of his equally sweet and kind assistant.
And if Harvey looks happier than usual the next day, you can sue him. Be prepared that he will rip you off like a stick, even though all this is the pure truth.
"So", Donna enters without asking, as usual, and looks piercingly, as if she already has the answers … as usual.
Harvey just arches an expressive eyebrow. The first rule if you are brought in for questioning is to close your mouth, you are not obliged to say anything.
Donna repeats his gesture and folds her arms over her chest, looking at him with a slight condescension. The prosecution went on the attack!
"Okay", Donna snorts and unceremoniously sits down on the chair in front of him.
"Yesterday you gave Mike a lecture about relationships, then took him out for a drink, and today you look too pleased for a man who was tormented by guilt because his assistant is a golden retriever who suffers for a girl. There's something wrong here", Donna doesn't ask—she claims.
"I still don't hear the question," Harvey shrugs.
Donna stares intently into his eyes and suddenly gasps. Her face lights up with an epiphany, and her gaze becomes predatory and dangerous. The blood is already in the water, and the shark can smell the victim.
"There was no guilt', Donna leans back in her chair.
Only she manages to sit on these uncomfortable chairs as if she is a queen who has condescended to receive servants. This woman is gorgeous.
"You didn't want him to date her because you only wanted him for yourself".
She's not asking again.
"It was the right choice, and I want to remind you that you agreed with him," Harvey shrugs.
It's a trap.
"Yes, but you didn't deny it".
"What's the point if you've already decided everything?" — counteroffensive.
"Oh, Harvey, it won't work on me — expected failure".
" What do you want to hear?", Harvey looks at her wearily. "I said what I had to say. Did I know that this would lead to certain consequences when…"
"Will the puppy be vulnerable, and will you be able to pick him up? Donna chuckles".
Harvey rolls his eyes.
"Call it what you want".
"Harvey," Donna's tone suddenly becomes serious. "If you started this game, then don't hurt him. Mike doesn't deserve this".
"Who do you take me for?", Harvey winces because Donna is unconsciously voicing his fears.
"For a man who does not know how to show emotions, and who hides any affection behind a thick—skinned armour", her answer is honest and ruthless as always. "Mike is all emotions, Harvey".
"And because of that, we have so many problems," he says.
"And that's why you like working with him so much. Think about it".
"I'm trying, okay?"
Donna stands up and straightens the folds of her dress.
"Do it or leave Rachel's boyfriend".
She leaves, clicking her heels loudly on purpose, looking so much like a proud lioness. Mike flies in after him, carrying folders. Tired and sleepless, but collected. Harvey looks him in the eye and thinks trying would be an insult.
Harvey will just do it. As always.

you’ve been waiting years for mike to finally become a household name. he became known in the theater world first, and west side story boosted him into a more mainstream audience. but this movie was going to be the one to catapult him into the fame you always knew he was destined to get; he was in a movie with zendaya, one of the biggest stars of this generation.
the morning of the trailer release, you opened your eyes after sleeping in mike’s bed to find mike sitting up at the edge of the bed, looking off into space melancholically.
“mike?” you asked softly, dazed from sleep. you sat up when he didn’t answer, rubbing your hand on his bare back. “mike?”
this time he turned his head to the side to look at you, and you remained behind him, your hands on his back.
“good morning, Y/N,” he asked, putting a lazy kiss on the side of your head. “did you sleep well?”
you nodded. “i did. you?”
mike didn’t react right away, but you could tell the answer was no. he looked into your eyes for a moment before looking down at his hands in his lap.
“are you okay? are you sick or anything?” you questioned, adjusting your body so you were sitting next to him on the bed. you knew this behavior was abnormal for him.
“no, no, it’s not that,” he said, trailing off as he put on a shirt. “i’m fine, i promise.”
you didn’t fully believe him, but you knew it was better to not pressure him to talk. “okay, i understand,” you said gently. you stood up, standing in front of him. “how about i make you a nice breakfast to celebrate the big day?”
you held your hand out in front of you, and he took it, standing up to meet you. he flinched a bit when you mentioned the big day, but he quickly put on a smile. “i’d love that.”
you wanted to treat mike as much as possible today. today, his life and yours would drastically change. it was the trailer release day for mike’s new movie titled challengers. it was going to bring a lot of new attention to mike, and there would be a lot of eyes on him, especially since he’s playing opposite zendaya.
it was clear that something in mike seemed off leading up to the day of the release, but you brushed it off as general nerves. hell, you’d be nervous too if your life and fame was going to change in an instant. you wanted to make him as comfortable as possible, and support him as much as you could.
“how do pancakes sound?” you asked, collecting ingredients from around the kitchen. when there was no reply, you turned around to see mike zoning off, his mind engulfed in thoughts.
“mike?” you asked, him snapping out of his daze.
“what? oh, sorry, pancakes sound good,” he said, forcing a smile.
you continued, frowning. “mike, are you sure you’re fine? you’re acting strange.” you paused, breaking eye contact for a moment before looking at him again. “and please, don’t lie to me.”
he looked like he was debating on speaking. you put down the ingredients in your hands and looked at mike from across the counter, putting your full attention on him. without using words, you were willing him to tell you what was wrong.
he sighed. “i…i’m scared,” mike finally said. his eyes remained down at his cup of coffee.
“and why is that?” you asked, leaning onto the counter. you asked despite already knowing the answer.
he looked up at you, and he clearly knew that you knew the answer. “you do realize everything is going to change after today, right?” mike asked quietly.
you shrugged. “i mean, yeah, but part of our lives will still be the same.”
“but that’s just it, it won’t be the same,” he said, his voice growing slightly louder. “it can’t be the same. there’s going to be more attention on me now, more eyes watching my every move. our every move.”
you knew exactly what he meant. everything would change after today, but there were certainly positives to it.
“well, i know one thing that won’t change,” you stated.
“what?”
you smiled. “us.”
mike finally smiled back. your purposefully cheesy comment didn’t affect him in the way that you wanted. “yeah, i guess so.”
you finished making breakfast, with mike in a slightly better mood than he was before. he remained quiet, however, and it was evident that he still had so much on his mind.
mike had never been good with expressing his emotions to you. he made it his responsibility to keep you happy, and if he was down, he knew you would be too. he knew if he tried to keep a front that he was always okay, you would eventually believe it. but, little did he know that you weren’t as naive as he believed you to be. you saw he was stressed.
after eating, it was getting closer and closer to the release time. it was going live at 11am, and zendaya was planning on posting the trailer to her instagram. it was 10:45am.
you and mike sat down on the couch, your phone in hand. you opened your phone and left it on instagram, planning to refresh the home page when 11 o’clock hit.
mike looked pale. he wouldn’t look you in the eye, and he seemed more tense than ever. you sat in an uncomfortable silence for a few long minutes.
“mike, are-” you began several minutes later before being interrupted suddenly.
“what if this doesn’t go the way we wanted it to?” he asked, not truly looking for an answer from you.
“well, it-” you started again before being interrupted once again.
“in a few minutes, my life will never be the same ever again, Y/N. neither will yours. if this movie doesn’t sell like it should, my career is ruined. if it sells, then i get more jobs, and that’s just more opportunities to potentially fuck up whatever i have going for me. i’m going to be watched at all times, and so will you. one wrong move and it’s all over.”
he was breathing heavily at this point, almost hyperventilating. it looked like he could have a full blown panic attack at any moment.
“i-i don’t want to put you through that,” he said, running a hand through his hair nervously. his voice remained stoic while his body was panicking. “i just… i don’t-”
it was your turn to interrupt him. “hey mike?”
he paused, turning to you confusedly. “yeah?”
“breathe.”
mike froze briefly, and you rested a hand on his back. he kept his gaze focused on your eyes, almost as if just by looking at you, you were anchoring him and keeping his thoughts steady.
you felt as his back slowly rose as he took a deep breath, and you did it with him. you both just gazed at each other and breathed until mike’s demeanor was not one of fear, but calm. full calmness took over him for the first time in who knows how long.
“better?” you asked gently.
he nodded before hugging you. “i’m sorry for acting weird recently. i just got so lost in my thoughts, i couldn’t think straight,” he sheepishly said into your shoulder.
“i don’t blame you, mike. it’s scary, i know.”
you looked down at your phone, which now said 10:59.
“it’s almost time,” you said while sitting up, bringing mike with you. he still seemed nervous, but it was a healthy type of nervous, the kind that feels more like excitement than anxiousness.
he held your hand, and you gave him a reassuring squeeze. when the time on your phone changed to 11am, you breathed in and refreshed your instagram page.
immediately, a new video showed up under zendaya’s account, and you and mike watched the new trailer together, smiling. he was glad to be watching now, and you snuck a glance at him as he watched the trailer. you could tell he was proud of himself.
when it finished, he looked at you, a wide grin on his face.
“i’m so proud of you, mike,” you said, knowing that those words were still an understatement. just to fuel his ego, you paused before adding, “you’re the coolest person i know.”
he laughed and leaned in, kissing you softly. “i’m glad you think so.”

SINCLAIR RESIDENCE
Barb drops me home after school. I decide to study for Kaminsky’s test on my own. If I need help, I’ll call Barb. I open my front door, slipping my loafers off my feet.
“Mom? Dad? I’m home!” I call out, closing the front door behind me.
I take off my coat, hanging it on the coat hanger and pad down the foyer pass the sitting room towards the living room. Our home is open concept painted in muted colours of white and beige. On the light grey couch Erica is sitting watching television while playing with her dolls.
“Hey monster,” I greet, kissing the top of her head. “Where’s mom and dad?”
“They went to the supermarket; said they’ll be back in an hour.” She replies, looking at her dolls. “Aren’t you supposed to be at Nancy’s?”
“Change of plans.”
“Is it because of Will?”
I frown shaking my head. “No, why would it be?
“I overheard Mom talking to Miss Byers on the phone. Miss Byers says Will is missing.”
I flinch, my heart plummeting to my stomach. I grip the back of the couch. “What?” I exclaim. “Didn’t the boys all leave Mike’s at the same time?”
Erica shrugs. “I don’t know.”
“Where’s Lucas?”
 “In his room.”
I run up the stairs to his room finding the door closed. My heart flutters in my chest. A closed door is a bad sign. Lucas rarely kept his door closed. I gently knock.
“I said leave me alone, Erica!” Lucas snaps.
“It’s me,” I say, calmly. “Can I come in?”
Lucas doesn’t respond.  A sudden stab of anxiety is in my gut and I rock back and forth on my feet. I understand Lucas not wanting to talk to Erica. She was eight and annoyed him to no end, but me? I can’t wait any longer and raise my hand to knock again when I hear the faintest ‘yes’ from the other side. I sigh in relief, scared of Lucas shutting me out and open the door.
I poke my head in first, just to make sure I heard him properly. Lucas lay on his bed staring blankly up at the ceiling. He doesn’t flinch or twitch at my presence so I open the door wider, letting myself in before closing it shut behind me. Lucas kept a clean room. All of us did, not like we had much of a choice. Dad was serving in the Vietnam War when he met Mom and brought with him all his military training and customs when they decided to marry and raise a family together. I gradually extend my leg tendu devant, looking at the arch in my foot before relaxing it.
For the first time ever, the room feels cold. Lucas still hasn’t moved from his bed or even acknowledged me and it worries me. I stroll to the bed, climbing on top and lie down beside him staring up at the ceiling. Even lying beside my little brother, I feel like I am miles away from him. I don’t know what to say. I never understood how Nancy and Mike could go hours without talking to each other in their house. It was like they lived separate lives. Not here. I want to be a part of Lucas and Erica’s lives. I want both of them to know they can talk to me about anything. I’ll always listen even if I don’t understand.
I turn my head, gazing at Lucas. When I was three years old, I asked Santa for a little brother. Then Mom got pregnant with Lucas and I never stopped talking about it. I told anyone who would listen. Santa got me a little brother. When Mom and Dad brought Lucas home from the hospital, it was love at first sight. I knew from that moment on, I would do anything for him. Sometimes I think about Lucas and Erica growing up and get emotional. They were once so small and followed me everywhere. Now, they don’t care what I do. I miss the times when Mom would dress us three alike. It was ridiculous because I am four years older than Lucas and eight years older than Erica. I don’t know how Mom managed to get matching outfits in threes. I should ask her tonight at dinner.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Lucas asks.
“Because I love you,” I reply without thinking.
“You’re freaking me out.”
I smile, turning my head back to the ceiling. The room feels warm again, but my smile fades. I have to ask the one question a person did not want to be asked when something was clearly wrong.
“Are you okay?”
Lucas doesn’t respond right away. I push down the panic bubbling in my chest and rely heavily on patience. A few minutes pass before he shrugs his shoulders. I try again.
“Erica told me about Will. Do you want to talk about it?”
No answer again. My stomach shrivels and panic rises in my chest. I push myself up to sit leaning back against a pillow and cross my legs. On instinct, I point my toes.
“Can you please talk to me?”
Lucas closes his eyes and I let out a deep sigh accepting defeat. I desperately want to know what he is thinking and feeling, but maybe now isn’t the time. I shuffle to the edge of the bed.
“Will didn’t show up to school today.”
My heart leaps in my chest and I look back at Lucas. His eyes are open again but he is still looking up at the ceiling. I lean back on the pillow, not daring to say another word. Lucas wants me to listen, not talk.
“I thought he would show at for AV club at least. Mr. Clarke got the Heath Kit Ham Shack I’ve been telling you about,” he sits up leaning against the other pillow, tucking his knees close to his chest. “It’s so cool. Mr. Clarke says we can communicate with people as far as Australia.” He gushes with a faint smile. My heart warms at the joy in his dark brown eyes. “Me, Mike, and Dustin were using the Heath Kit, but I couldn’t stop thinking about Will and what he would think about it, y’know?”
“Then Principal Coleman came and asked to speak to all of us. Chief Hopper was outside the classroom looking at us and I knew it had to be about Will. We follow Principal Coleman to his office and then Chief Hopper starts asking us a bunch of questions about Will, but we haven’t seen him since last night.”
“Questions like what?” I ask. Lucas looks at me for the first time since entering his room.
“Like, when was the last time we saw him? How does he get home? We were all trying to explain to Chief Hopper that Will takes Mirkwood to go home.”
I tilt my head to the side inquisitively.
“It’s where Cornwallis and Kerley meet.” Lucas explains. “We could’ve shown him but he told us to go home after school. He won’t even let us help him look for Will!”
“You are helping Chief Hopper find will, Lucas. If you boys didn’t tell him how Will gets home, he wouldn’t have known where to look.”
Lucas disagrees with my reasoning, wrinkling his nose and shaking his head.
“No one in town even knows Will exists. Only we do.” Lucas spoke, expression full of disdain. “We know Will more than anyone here. It’s not fair for us to be stuck at home when he’s missing!”
“I understand, but we don’t know what happened to Will. If he’s been kidnapped or if the person who took him is still out there. What if you go out there and something happens to you too?”
“I have my wrist-rocket.” Lucas says matter-of-factly.
My eyebrows go up at his response and I press my lips together to keep from laughing out loud. I know he isn’t kidding about the wrist-rocket and that’s what makes his answer so cute and endearing. I remember when Dad bought it for him and how against Mom was about it saying it was too dangerous for Lucas to have. Dad says the wrist-rocket is harmless, but I’ve seen Lucas practice with the sling-shot and it was far from harmless.
“What’s so funny?” Lucas asks, squinting his eyes suspiciously.
“Nothing is funny.” I reply, grinning as I slide down until my head touches the pillow.
Lucas plops backwards onto the pillow with a ‘hmph’. I roll to my side facing him, knowing he was ignoring my stare again. Reaching out my hand, I poke his cheek with my finger. A faint smile appears on his pink lips and he rolls to his side, batting my hand away. I can see the sadness beneath his kind eyes and it makes my heart ache for him.  I know how much Will means to my brother and the boys. They were a unit. A family. I would be frustrated too if Nancy or Barbara went missing and I wasn’t allowed to help look for them. But I’m turning 16 and Lucas just turned 12. The risk of him endangering himself out there is far too great.
Lucas shuffles closer, resting his forehead under my chin. On instinct, I wrap my arms around his back holding him close, drawing circles against his back. I close my eyes breathing in his scent. He smells of the outdoors and coconut oil. His shoulders relax beneath my fingers. Lucas would die if the boys knew he loves to cuddle. It’s something we did together often. On the couch, in our beds, on the floor. Sometimes Erica joins when she’s in the mood, but that was rare. We are quiet for a long moment enjoying each other’s company.
“I think it’s best you stay inside and let Chief Hopper look for Will, okay?” I speak. “Wrist-rocket or not.”
 Lucas sighs. “Okay.”
“We’re going to find Will. I promise.”
Lucas doesn’t respond, instead he nuzzles against me. I peer over his shoulder at the window. I think about Jonathan and Miss Byers and can’t fathom to know how they must be feeling right now. Nothing ever happens in Hawkins. It’s a quiet suburban town outside the metropolis. People don’t go missing in Hawkins. Most of the town knew each other growing up or grew up together. It’s why Dad loves it here so much. Hawkins is safe. Peaceful. Unassuming. Everyone’s day starts and ends the same way every day. The disappearance of Will Byers frightens me for that reason. It doesn’t make sense for him to vanish on a route he took every day and if someone knew this and took Will…I shudder, pulling Lucas close. I can’t bear to think of someone doing that and hope Chief Hopper finds Will soon.
Tumblr media
Dinner was quiet tonight. No one brought up Will’s disappearance for the sake of Lucas, but it weighed down on all of us. Lucas went straight to his room closing the door behind him.
“Give him space.” Dad said, looking down at Mom who looked like she was about to follow after him.
That was over three hours ago.
Heavy rain rattles the window and thunder booms and cracks in the sky. I rub my tired eyes reading through my cue cards. I made at least 50 cards to study from, each colour-coded according to chapter. I softly hum a sequence from the Swan Lake tape playing from my boom box and I glance at the clock at the corner of my night table. 10:13pm. I sit up in my bed twisting my body to the side to crack my back and slipped out of bed.
Dad went to look for Will with the search party Chief Hopper gathered and came back about an hour ago. There was still no sign of him. I bend forward touching my hands to the floor and stretch out my hamstrings. Stretching calms me down. My anxiety is through the roof. The Nutcracker showcase, Kaminsky’s test, Will’s disappearance, and the emotional state of my brother, it all played out in a loop in my head. I lower to the floor and sit in a side straddle. While flexing my feet, I lie down on my stomach in a middle split and close my eyes.
I breathe deeply, allowing my body to relax into the stretch. Despite everything being scrambled up in my brain, the one thought at the forefront is my brother. I feel for him. I feel with him. When we spoke in the afternoon, I saw the way his eyes lit up and how excited he was to see the Heath Kit Ham Shack. The way he immediately thought of Will…I open my eyes and sigh, swimming through the split until my feet are behind me. I know Dad said to give Lucas space and I honour his space, but that was three hours ago. I need to check on him.
Mine and Erica’s rooms are across from Mom, Dad and Lucas’s rooms. I slowly open my door careful not to be loud. Mom and Dad are in their room watching the news in their room. I saunter across the hall to Lucas’s room and softly knock, waiting to be let in. Nothing. Maybe he’s sleeping. I turn the knob, carefully opening his door. The lights were off except for the bedside lamp. I frown at the lump under the covers. It’s too smooth. Lucas is a terrible sleeper; his bedsheet would’ve been halfway off his bed if he were really asleep.
Unless.
No. He wouldn’t. Lucas is too smart to leave home at this night, especially in the middle of a storm. Checking to see if anyone was around, I tiptoe to his bed and peel off the covers. I freeze staring at the pillow posing as my brother. I want to scream. I want to call Mom and Dad. Instead, I count down from five in my head, willing my mind and body to relax and I pull the covers back over the pillow.
This is so stupid, even for him. I am in the mudroom by the garage wearing a bright yellow raincoat, slipping on a pair of red rainboots. The moon shines bright, illuminating this side of the house. I stand up reaching for a long umbrella in the umbrella stand and a flashlight on the shelf. Lucas is just in the front yard, playing soccer. I lie to myself. I know I should get Mom and Dad, but with Will disappearing, I don’t want another unfortunate spectacle to happen in Hawkins.
My senses heighten as I hear shuffling in the garage and I stand still in case my mind is playing tricks on me. The door to the mudroom opens and Lucas slowly enters, closing the door carefully behind him. Without thinking, I march towards him.
“Lucas!” I whisper loudly.
Lucas jumps in a startle and I cover his mouth before he has a chance to scream. Waking up the entire house is not part of my plan. Lucas’s eyes are wide and fearful. Upon realizing it’s only me, he sighs in relief. I remove my hand from his mouth pulling my hood off my head at the same time. I am so overcome with anger and relief; I don’t know whether to hug or hit him.
“Were you outside this whole time?” I hiss, quietly. I don’t give him the chance to answer. “Where were you, Lucas? Please, please tell me you didn’t go out to look for Will on your own.”
“I didn’t. I swear. I was with Dustin and Mike.”
“Like that’s any better.” I retort. “You have got to be kidding me! Chief Hopper had a search party out looking for Will tonight, Lucas. Dad went!”
“We can’t just stay here and do nothing. We had to look for him ourselves. Will protected the Party from the Demogorgon, we had to at least try to find him.”
I shake my head trying to make sense of what he just said. Demogorgon? I don’t know what he’s talking about.
“What are you even saying right now? Do you know what time it is?” I don’t give him time to answer again. “You’re lucky it’s me and not Mom and Dad or worse Erica finding you.”
“I know.”
I put my hands on his damp shoulders. “Don’t ever do that again.”
“I won’t.”
I sigh in relief, unbuttoning my raincoat. At least I don’t have to go outside in the rain. Lucas shrugs off his backpack and unzips his jacket, hanging it on the hanger. He then takes off his muddy running shoes, hiding them and picks up his backpack. By then, I am already in my pyjamas.
“Diana?” Lucas says. I turn around. “Are you going to tell Mom and Dad?” he asks, eyes wary.
 “No.”
I know I should. But I won’t. Lucas is back in the house safe and sound. Mom and Dad don’t need to know what happened tonight. Lucas hugs me and I cringe, scrunching my nose.
“Thank you. You’re the best.”
“Ew, you’re cold and wet.” I grimace. “You need to take a shower before you get sick.”
Lucas laughs quietly and I can’t help my smile. Eventually I hug him back kissing the top of his head. He’s safe and sound. That’s all that matters.

Liar, Liar
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Genre: Soft/implied smut
Warnings/plot points: Make-out, teasing, adult themes, pre-established friendship, shy!Eddie, slightly dom!Eddie(?)
A/N: boy oh boy I never thought I'd be back here writing again lol. Eddie has me feeling some sort of way, gang. Please enjoy, I may write a part 2. :) Go easy on me, it's been a few years since I actually wrote anything so I'm a lil rusty lmao
**Reader and Eddie are both adults, please keep this in mind. NOT FOR MINORS.**
Tumblr media
It had been fifteen minutes and still no one had shown up yet, leading you to believe that maybe Eddie was pulling your leg. Did he lie about the time for this? You vividly remember him telling you 2:30, so you knew you had it right. And yet, there you were, alone in the dimly lit theater room of your old high school with Eddie Munson.
The last time you were here, you were picking up Mike and Dustin to give them rides home at the request of Mrs. Wheeler. You used to babysit Mike, were friends with Nancy up until about 10th grade, and even babysat Holly once Mike was old enough to not need a sitter anymore. You showed up to the high school with Holly to pick up the boys, shocking everyone in the room with the sweet little girl.
"Who is this little angel?" Eddie had said, approaching the two of you and gently poking Holly on the tip of her nose. You remember how much she giggled, and when she reached out to yank on Eddie's long hair. She was old enough to know better, but you weren't about to scold her for it.
The memory made you smile a bit, remembering back to Eddie's reaction, laughing along with Holly instead of being irritated that she was pulling on his beautiful locks. You recalled him asking when you had a kid, and how much you blushed when you realized he thought she was yours.
It took Mike jumping in to explain that Holly was his sister, and that you were a family friend, before plucking the little girl from your arms to carry her to the DND table. You watched carefully as she toyed with some of his DND figures, shocked at how unbothered he was by it. You could remember a time where he would absolutely lose his shit if Holly ever touched his things. Oh, how times had changed.
This gave Eddie the chance to strike up a conversation with you, using his good-looks and dreamy eyes to convince you to join their next session. You had protested at first, but he reassured you that you didn't even have to play, he just wanted your company. That alone was more than enough to get you to give in, but now you were regretting it.
"I can't believe I agreed to this," You groaned, leaning back in your chair and running your hands down your face. "Eddie, I'm already bored and no one's even here yet. Can I please just go home and pick up Mike when he's done?"
Eddie let out an offended gasp, turning swiftly to shoot you a look of utter betrayal. "You're bored? With me?"
"Yes, Eddie, I'm bored," You repeated, then lowered your voice to mutter, "I don't even know why you wanted me here in the first place."
Eddie seemed to have picked up on what you said, so he crossed the room in quick strides to kneel in front of your chair. He crossed his arms over your thighs and rested his chin on them, looking up at you through his lashes and dark hair. You had to pry your eyes away just to straighten out your thoughts.
"I wanted you here because I haven't seen you since before you graduated," He explained, sticking out his lower lip in a pout. "Didn't you miss me?"
You thought back to your time in high school, recalling how shy Eddie had been back then. It was well before he was held back for the first time, and he was as sheepish and awkward as ever. Even still, you spent a decent chunk of time with him, seeing as you were a bit of an outcast back then yourself. You found common interests in fiction novels and fantasy books, and he even mentioned the Hellfire club on more than one occasion. It was still pretty new back then, but oh, how he loved it.
"Maybe that's because I grew up, Eddie," You stated, avoiding his gaze. You didn't mean to come off as harsh, just honest- but the comment seemed to strike a chord with him.
"What makes you think I haven't?" He asked, lifting his head. "Just because I'm still here, you think I never grew up?"
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. "That's not what I meant, I just-"
"Just, what?" Eddie interrupted. You met his gaze once more and instantly felt remorse for the comment, seeing just how hurt he was behind the anger. You thought back to your friendship with him again, remembering just how difficult high school was for him, and let yourself soften up a bit.
"Nevermind," You said, "Forget I even said anything. When is everyone else supposed to be here?"
"About that," Eddie said, sucking in through his teeth and offering you an apologetic smile. "It'll probably be another hour."
"An hour?!"
"Yeah, I kind of lied to you before. But I had a good reason, I swear!"
You rolled your eyes and stood from your chair, grabbing your bag and keys off of the table. "I think we're done here, Eddie. I'll be back to get the kids when you're finished."
You were only a few steps from the exit when Eddie managed to catch up with you, grabbing you by the wrists and spinning you around to face him. He all but slammed you back against the door, a loud thump ringing out throughout the theater room. Pinning your wrists beside your head, he locked eyes with you, his chest rising and falling quickly. Even he looked shocked by his own actions. "Just wait a second, please!"
"What the hell, Eddie?" You cried out, trying to wriggle free from his grasp. When had he gotten so strong?
"Listen," He said quietly, "Just let me explain, okay?"
"Start talking, or I'm going to kick your teeth in," You threatened.
Eddie laughed softly, his mouth turning up in a dangerously handsome half smile. You swallowed hard and waited for his explanation.
"I don't doubt that. Look, I wanted to be alone with you for a little while before the rest of the group got here," He explained, "I missed you. I haven't seen you in two years, and I never got to-"
Eddie stopped himself, clearing his throat and letting go of your wrists. Once he realized just how rash his actions had been he took a step back and lowered his gaze to the floor. Despite his shy retraction, you could still see the blush creeping onto his cheeks and forehead. "Forget it, you can leave if you want to. I didn't mean to scare you, or make you think it was going to hurt you or anything. I guess, I dunno, I just missed feeling like I did when you were around, that's all. You always made me feel like I mattered, I guess. But, yeah, just forget it, I won't stop you if you wanna go."
You stood watching him for a moment, taking in his features and trying to steady your own breathing. You'd be lying if you said you didn't get a little excited when he pushed you against the door like that. He was always so soft and gentle by nature, seeing him act up a bit was kind of hot.
"I'm really sorry," He said, unable to bear the silence between you. "For lying to you and rushing you like that, I mean."
"I'll forgive you," You said softly, your tone playful. "On one condition."
Eddie perked up at that, lifting his head again and nodding so hard his hair was bouncing around his shoulders. "Sure, anything. Tell me."
You felt this foreign sense of confidence wash over you, so you gestured with your finger for him to come closer again. Still blushing brighter than a stop light, he took a few steps in your direct. You were still feeling rather excited by his actions, so you draped your arms over his shoulders and met his gaze. His entire body tensed up and you could swear he was holding his breath.
It was always obvious that there was something there, hiding between the lines of your friendship. In a way, you both knew, but back then you were both awkward, weird little teenagers who had no idea what the world had in store for them. Now, things were different- you felt that connection even more strongly- and you were ready to see where it took you.
"Why did you really want to be alone with me, Eddie?" You asked in a sweet voice.
"I- what?" He asked, a little taken aback by your change in demeanor.
"I know you know where I live, and you have my phone number," You went on, "You have for years. You also know I see the Wheelers all the time. You've had plenty of chances to reach out to me and catch up, so why did you want to be alone with me now?"
Eddie stuttered for a bit, trying to laugh off his embarrassment. He knew he had been caught, because everything you said was true; he'd seen you around Hawkins many times, even watched you pick up Mike and Dustin from school before. But he never said anything, because you were always in public, or with others. There was no way he could ever approach you like that to confess his feelings, or even do half of the things he wanted to do to you. The thought alone of his fantasies about being alone with you made him blush and stumble over his words even more so.
"You can be honest with me," You said, "Really. We're alone, Eddie, so why don't you tell me what you really want to tell me?"
With a deep breath for bravery, he finally met your eyes and felt the same rush of confidence that you yourself had felt before. Something about the way you looked at him with hooded eyes and a soft, inviting smile sent his heart into hysterics and his brain into instinct mode.
So, instead of using his words, he decided it best to use his actions.
Eddie leaned forward and pressed the softest, quickest kiss to your smiling lips, lingering there for a moment with his eyes closed afterwards. His forehead was gently pressed against yours, and all you could hear was his labored breathing and his racing heart. He smelled of smoke and ash, with the softest hint of hairspray. Just like you remembered.
As if the kiss had sparked something inside both of you, he was on you in moments, his hands grasping at your waist to pull you in as closely against his own body as he possibly could. His mouth was on yours in a frenzy, leaving you feeling dizzy and intoxicated. You welcomed his advances warmly, melting into his touch and lacing your fingers through the hair on the back of his scalp as he kissed you with a desperation you didn't know he was capable of.
It made you wonder just how much he was truly holding back.
Eddie was quick to keep things moving, nudging his knee between your legs to part them. He was flush against you then, his thigh pressing against a spot that was almost too much to bear. You could feel something pressing hard against your hip and you felt a jolt of anticipation run up and down your spine. His hands left their place on your waist, one travelling under your shirt to grip your bare hip while the other made a home on the base of your neck.
You let out a soft whine when he pressed his thigh harder against you, breaking the kiss for only a moment. He carried on with his movements, teasing you over your clothes and latching onto one spot on your neck. You arched your back against him, your chest pressing into his own and making him growl softly against your neck.
"This," He breathed into your ear, "This is why I wanted to get you alone. God, I've wanted this for so fucking long, Y/N, you have no idea."
"That's all you had to say," You responded, equally as breathless. The hand that had wandered under your shirt was now at the waistband of your jeans, unhooking the button and slipping inside effortlessly. It was almost as if he had been planning this for years, and knew exactly what his next moves would be. In a way, that made it even more exciting, knowing he had thought this through.
You gasped when he ran his middle and ring finger over that ever so sensitive spot between your legs, squeezing your eyes shut and biting down on your lower lip. His rings were cold against your hot skin, making you jump once and writhe against him. You could feel his eyes on you, watching your every reaction as he teased and toyed with you. It wasn't like this was the first time either of you had done something like this before; but this was different. With others, it wasn't anything like this. This was more intense, more real.
Eddie studied your features as he rubbed small, soft circles, letting out a quiet moan of his own when you gasped and choked and whined at his every move. He pressed himself harder against your hip, trying to gain some form of friction. You took this as a sign to reach down and graze over his hardness with your fingertips, smiling as he faltered in his movements and let out a heated groan.
"Do that again, and I'm canceling tonight's session and taking you home with me right now," He said, his voice low, rough, and unsteady.
"You say that like it's supposed to stop me," You replied, giving him a gentle squeeze.
With that, Eddie pressed one more long kiss to your lips and stepped away, grabbing his keys and his bag. You took a step aside from the door and took a few deep breaths, trying to gather yourself. Just as you did, the door opened up beside you and a few of the older boys walked in, noisily lost in conversation.
"Hey, guys!" Eddie greeted them loudly, using his jean jacket to hide what was going on downstairs. "You're uh, you're early!"
"Study hall got boring, so we ditched," one of them explained. No one had noticed you quite yet, so you took the opportunity to slowly zip up and re-button your jeans.
"Well, funny story," Eddie said with an awkward laugh, "I actually have to, um, take Y/N home! Her car broke down in the parking lot, so, uh, the sessions canceled today."
"Canceled?? You never cancel! What the hell!"
"Sorry, guys," You said with a shrug from your spot beside the door, "My bad."
Eddie finished gathering his things and gave the guys a few pats on the shoulders with more apologies before making his escape with you. Once you were in the safety of the hallway, he grabbed your hand and began speed-walking to the parking lot.
"My car broke down, huh?" You said with a laugh.
"It was the most believable excuse!"
Once you made it to his van, he opened the passenger side door for you, then quickly ran around to the driver's side. You buckled your seatbelt and tried to hide your excited smile, knowing exactly what was going to happen when you arrived at his trailer. Eddie reached over and placed his hand on your upper thigh, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"Don't worry," He said playfully, "I'll go easy on you the first time."

Title: Aw, C'mon
Ship: Mike x Bill Baker
Words: 970
Description: Mike is trying, and failing, to write an essay. Bill interrupts.
Mike spun their pen between their fingers. The ideas for this essay simply weren’t coming. Across a sheet of lined paper they’d scribbled vague concept after vague concept but none stuck. What about? No, that’s overdone. Then, there could be– that’s a stretch. On page 70…would that make a long enough essay?
A knock at the door.
“Come in,” Mike said, not looking up from their paper.
The door opened.
What was that term? Their professor said it at least twice…maybe it was in their notes. Where had they put their notebook? They spun their pen again.
A scrambled bit of speech hit their ears. Oh, that’s right, someone had come in. What did they want?
“You study too hard,” Mike heard finally. They looked up and found their boyfriend Bill, peering over their shoulder. How long had he been like that?
“Mm, no, I never do enough.”
They turned back to their scribbles. Now that their head had cleared, they realized it was an incomprehensible mess. They crumbled the paper and threw it in the trash can. They pulled out another piece.
Bill tapped their shoulder. “What’s goin’ on in that pretty head? Hm?”
“Nothing,” Mike complained. “Not a damn thing.”
“I doubt that,” he said, with a chuckle. “You do more thinking than anybody.”
That was hardly true. Or, if it was, most of their thoughts were more useless.
“Not any useful thinking.”
Bill’s breath warmed their neck, causing a shiver down their spine. Why did he have to get so close? How could they do any thinking now?
“You’re the smartest person on campus,” Bill said, without a hint of exaggeration or comedy.
“You have to say that,” Mike said. “You’d be a terrible boyfriend if you didn’t.”
“Doesn’t make it a lie.”
No, but…
“It makes it biased.”
“You know I’m not the only one who thinks that.”
“Junior too?” Mike joked.
“Sure. Your professors, too. If they don’t, they’re wrong.”
Mike scoffed. “Are you trying to give me a pep talk or an inflated ego?”
He wrapped his arms around their middle. They could smell his cologne…warm, a bit like amber…a knockoff of something… The fabric of his sweater warmed them, even through their blouse. He was soothingly, addictingly, warm. Mike’s skin, prone to chill, craved him.
Essay. Due. Next week. Five pages. Handwritten. Still no topic.
This boy was not about to tank their grade.
They stared down at their new blank page. They closed their eyes, trying to imagine their finished essay.
Lips ghosted their neck. Their eyes snapped open. What was he trying to do? Why was he here?
“Bill,” Mike asked gently. “What do you want?”
“You,” he said simply.
That much was clear.
“What do you want with me?” they pressed.
He pressed his lips to their neck, as if to answer their question.
“Take a break?” he asked, almost insisting.
“Don’t you have homework?” Mike asked.
“I’d rather study you.”
Smooth. Real smooth.
They rolled their eyes, fondly. “You don’t study hard enough.”
“You, I do. Quiz me.”
His lips brushed their ear. Mike waved their hand, like swatting a fly.
“Unless you have an idea for my essay, the door is over there.”
“Maybe a break’ll give you inspiration.”
He moved away from their neck and sat on their desk. Boy, he looked pretty today. The smile playing at his lips, the dark green of his sweater. He was such an enticing distraction.
Essay due…next week…
“Baby,” Mike pleaded, “Please go, I gotta write five pages.”
Bill glanced at their blank page and pointed out, “Looks like you aren’t getting any done.”
That was true. They hadn’t gotten a single useful word in the last hour. They had to, though. They had to write this paper.
But Bill, oh, look at him. He leaned in, and their eyes got caught on his lips. They looked soft, plush. Did he want a kiss? He sure looked like he was begging for a kiss.
“Aw, c’mon,” he teased.
No, not that tone. Not the one that would annoy them if it was anyone else. It was adorable when he did it, somewhere between coaxing and pestering.
“Kiss me,” he repeated, in that same tone.
Oh, they wanted to. How often did guys look at them with such gentle eyes, pleading to be kissed? They knew now why everyone told them to stick to books and keep from boys.
“C’mon.”
They put down their pen, and he leaned in closer. What was the point in resisting? Their essay could be written later, Bill was right here, right now.
They pulled him into a kiss by his shirt collar. When their lips touched, they knew it was the right choice. They’d needed that kiss.
Right after, came another kiss, much gentler. And another, and another.
“You’re bad news for my grades,” Mike said, after they pulled apart.
He smiled his world-ending smile, the one with teeth showing and eyes glittering. They could care later, when he wasn’t smiling at them like that.
He slid off the desk, and came behind them again, engulfing them in a hug. They had no frame of reference, but they were sure that Bill’s hugs were their favorite.
He took a deep breath.
“How about we hug for a while?” he suggested. “I don’t know about you, but I could use a hug.”
It amazed them that he could, so genuinely, want and need to be close to them. He genuinely seemed to desire their affections.
“Okay,” Mike conceded. “Just a little while.”
Mike stood, and he pulled them into his chest. They rubbed their face into his sweater, relishing in its softness. When they looked up at him, he’d closed his eyes. He hummed in contentment. Their heart swelled, and they squished themselves against him. Comfy, cozy, just right.

Elizabeth Afton has ASPD, also known as antisocial personality disorder. She genetically inherited this from William, but his is a lot better masked and hidden. Hers is obvious, direct, and dangerous.
Dangerous, meaning once she murdered someone. And at the ripe age of 13 too.
She didn't know what she was doing, it was mostly impulse, but he was making her so angry. She couldn't stop herself. It happened so fast, she didn't even notice the knife in her hand until he was already on the floor and his eyes were glazed over.
They were outside in the woods, just near her house. So she dragged him to the basement, shoved his body into the furnace (took quite a while as he was much bigger than her), and spent the next hour desperately scrubbing her dress with warm water over the mop bucket and bordering on sobbing, but at the same time not feeling anything at all. She didn't even notice the time fly by until she heard her father come through the front door. She froze in terror as he walked by the living room, taking in her trembling state trying desperately to scrub off the blood covering her dress and spread across the carpet. Neither of them said anything for a minute, Beth's mind was going 100mph, horrified that she'd be sent to prison and never see her brothers again. Would they even love her the same?
Then William spoke.
"Use cold water, not hot. And use hydrogen peroxide to clean up the carpet. It's in the medicine cabinet."
Then he just walked away.
Elizabeth's stood there a bit longer, not sure how to process, before her body started to move on its own. She used cold water and hydrogen peroxide to get the stains out of the carpet and her clothes, she wiped up any other stains and checked on the body to make sure it was fully burning. He was 17, everyone would assume he ran away to live in Vegas or something. And William would obviously not tell on her. Problem solved.
But Elizabeth was always a thinker. She thought a lot. Always thought of consequences, risks, results. So the fact that she didn't think about *any of this* when this happened, that she just acted, it was freeing. She just did something horrible and got away with it. But it was also terrifying. She did something horrible! Did she actually get away with it? Or was it just a matter of time?
These worries ran through her head as she sat on the living room floor for another two hours, unmoving after changing from her dress to pajamas.
The only thing that snapped her out of her mind break was the sound of Mike groaning as he rummaged through the cabinets for a baby bottle. When did they get back?
Mike walked in the room, bottle in one hand and little baby Nicky in the other; not even a year old yet. He spotted Beth and his face changed into concern as he took in her hunched over, stunned form. She tried hiding it, but she's never been good at lying to him. He knows her better than she knows herself.
So he sits down cross-legged in front of her and adjusts Nick to lie across his lap. Then he looks at her and asks her what's wrong.
She looks away and shakes her head, and he takes the hint. This is different, much worse than he's ever seen her, and he's scared.
Beth looks at him, Dead in the eyes. Mike has never liked eye contact, so he focuses on her nose as she continues looking. It seems like she's analyzing him. 3 whole minutes of staring and silence, before she finally speaks.
"I would never hurt you."
It's not sickly sweet or condescending like you'd expect a sentence like this to sound. Instead it sounds like a statement, like she's telling herself.
"I believe you," he says.
Then her gaze drops to Nicky, happily sucking at his bottle in Mike's lap. She reaches out.
"Can I hold him?"
Mike looks nervous. "I don't know, you're shaking a lot. Is it a good idea?"
"Please? Please let me hold him." She sounds desperate. And he trusts her, so he does.
She adjusts her legs so Nick would lie vertically on her thighs, facing up towards her. She gently grasps his hands and stares deep into his eyes, analyzing like she did to Mike. He watches closely, and Beth stares, but longer and more focused than with Mike. But then she whispers,
"I wouldn't hurt you either. I wouldn't hurt neither of you. I'll never do it."
Then suddenly she looks up to Mike, and it's like the whole atmosphere changed. Her eyes and face are happier, her voice got chipper, she starts talking about her cool science project as she gently messes with Nicky's hands, making him giggle. Now she's acting normal.
Mike asks what that was all about.
He doesn't get an answer.

Part four🖤
"You can put me down." again his hands were on my waist and shortly after I had solid floor below my feet. "Thank you, sadly there's not one fucking g Twix bar in the whole building and I haven't had one in years. *sigh* but I found this and these candles they might come in handy when the storm starts." and just in that moment the loud rumble of thunder was heard. We made a nice place on the floor, lit some candles and talked. I loved listening to him, he talked about everything with so much joy and excitement it warmed my heart." And that's how I learned about the silver haired god. I'll be honest Y/N I can't wait to show you all of my favorite songs of him." "Yeah I can't wait for it either." I said putting a hand full of chips in my mouth. "Where did you get these from?" he asked "Huh? What do you... Oh... well that's a long story I'm afraid" I said looking at my wrists, the marks from the zip ties still noticeable. "We have nowhere to go soooo..." he was right,we had nowhere to go today and if I wanted him to open up to me maybe I should make the first step. " Umm okay, gosh where do I start? When the world went nuts I was at a party with a friend, well I thought he was a friend. We knew each other from high school and our parents wanted us to date but I wasn't interested. He was a football player he could have every woman he wanted but he was obsessed with me . "." Oohhh ohhh let me guess his name is Mike? Matt? Sean? "" Nick. "." Ahhh this would have been my next guess. I'm sorry go on. " " I thought teaming up with him would be a good idea, it would increase our chances of survival and actually it went pretty well until... Until we came across some police officers. They took us to an old prison and brought us to their boss Agent Stone. He offered us food, shelter and safety but everything has a price right? He... he said we should work for him and that sounded alright until I saw what kind of work that was. We had to lie in on the roof of the building watching people passing by and... Killing them. " " Bad guys? " Sweet Tooth asked." Innocent people, travelers like you and me. I couldn't do it but Nick, Nick enjoyed it. He didn't even hesitate to pull the trigger. When I told Stone that I wouldn't do that, he gave his men the order to tie me up and bring me to the upper floor. There were so many people sitting and waiting. I had to take a number and wait. And when the number of the woman next to me was called they... " Sweet Tooth leaned forward gently putting a hand on my knee." What did they do? "

so i just got dumped over text lol can i get a ficlet or drabble of dustin comforting el after mike breaks up with her?
ohmygod, im so, so sorry, love! You didn't deserve that. Nobody deserves to be dumped over a text.
I hope you will feel better soon! 💜 I did write a little something, just for you! Dustin and I are sending you a lot of hugs!!!
Tumblr media
El sat shivering in Dustin's arms. It hadn't meant to end like this, Dustin comforting her. It wasn’t meant to happen at all. It was supposed to be a normal day for her. Going out with Max and Lucas, and then stopping by Wheelers’ house for some kissing session with her boyfriend.
Mike wasn’t supposed to break up with her.
Not now, not over the phone.
Why did this happen? She knew that their relationship lately was rather a delicate matter, but was she really that bad girlfriend? Was it her fault?
Another sob left her body, and she clung to Dustin’s chest even closer.
“Shh… Shh… I’m here with you. You’re not alone, El. I’m with you. You’re great and wonderful. Shh… Shh…” Dustin didn’t stop saying the same words over and over into her hair. Not since she suddenly entered his room and somehow ended up in his arms, sitting miserably with him on a floor. She didn’t even have the energy to explain to him what happened. So he didn’t know why she was crying, why she looked so miserable. But Dustin didn’t try to force her to say something, nor look at him with her wet eyes. He never stopped dragging his fingers through her hair, trying to give her some comfort.
He’s a great friend, and it hit El, that she was a bad friend for him, just using him, not even saying what happened.
Slowly, El moved her head away from its comfortable position on Dustin’s shoulder and placed a hand on Dustin's chest, splaying her fingers. She lifted her gaze to Henderson's eyes and opened her mouth to say that painful words finally.
“I-I-Im sorry, D,Dustin, I-I'm-m–” She couldn’t say that out loud. It hurt. And if she will say that out loud, their break-up will become real. And she doesn’t want that. She doesn’t. But Dustin deserves the truth. So she tried. She took a deep breath, clutching painfully a piece of Dustin's t-shirt in her hand. “Mike broke up with me-e. H,He called and b-broke up. Over p-phone. J-just like that and, and, and-” And she dissolved into shuddering sobs again, her whole body shaking with the force of them, and she could feel Dustin again gently comforting her with his words and tone.
After another few minutes, El could feel Dustin tensing up, just before she could hear his words, his tone clearly angry.
“What a son of a bitch. Piece of shit. Who the fuck break up through the phone!?” El understands him, she thinks, but now she doesn't want revenge or anything. She still loves Mike, and she doesn’t want to think about it now. But she would be lying saying Dustin’s words didn’t make her feel a little better. Making her feelings valid in a way she clearly needed.
And it's true, but right now, El just wanted to be held by someone dear to her. Deep down, she knows that she just wants Dustin to hug her and gently shush her again. No matter how arrogant that may seem.
So, she hugged him tighter to herself, clinging to his t-shirt on his back, and wetting his shirt with her tears again.
Henderson was rubbing her back in comfort with a little more pressure now. He’s annoyed, and it's clear, but his other hand on her hair still gently strokes it. He’s angry but weirdly, El feels safe in his arms. Safer than ever. And she knows he is able to be loud, but his tone is still quiet, as to not disturb her, and for a moment, El feels good.
After a few minutes, or hours, El wasn’t sure, of listening to Dustin’s steady heartbeat, she finally calmed down. Now, they were cuddling on the floor in silence, besides tiny sniffles and hitching sobs here and there from El.
Suddenly, Dustin's voice rang in her ears again.
“Do you want to lie down?” he asked softly, only feeling El nodding against his shoulder in answer. She realized that she feels quite tired. Like a kid. She would gladly use a comfortable bed. But not alone.
So she doesn't let him go even when she feels him standing up.
Dustin slowly got up off the floor with El still in his arms and guided her gently onto his bed, watching her adjust her position, leaving plenty of room for him behind her. But not letting go of his hand.
“I'll be back in a moment, just need to make some little adjustments.” He promised, squeezing her hand once and only then El finally let him go.
She felt tired, she realized again. Her head pulsing from sobbing, her legs numb from lying on the floor for so long, and her body aching for comforting presence.
El could've heard Dustin shuffling around the room, drawing the curtains, and putting something on his night stand. The bed finally dips, and El can hear her own sight of comfort when she feels Dustin pulling her to his chest.
She still feels broken and hurt, but she already cried enough for today, and now she just wants to rest her eyes for a moment. A minute. Maybe a little longer.
The last thing she remembers, before dozing off, are Dustin’s lips on her forehead.

Fic request I’ve seen allot of this lately and need more : ronance confessing there mental health issues with each other (bonus points for first kisses as well)
(I am choosing to interpret mental health issues as up to an including Nancy's PTSD and Robin being undiagnosed autistic in the 80s mostly bc I am also autistic and love that headcanon) Also, spoilers for the end of the original Friday the 13th I guess.
Tw for discussions of mental health (through an 80s lense)
It's almost a month after the defeat of Vecna. In Nancy's world, a month is a pretty long time to have avoided an, as she calls them, episode.
She's not stupid. She's never been stupid, but it's hard to be certain of exactly what she's suffering from when most people still assumed PTSD was for Vietnam veterans and survivors of violent crime, and when she can't exactly go to a therapist (even if she was brave enough to ask her parents to pay for one, said therapist would lock her in Pennhurst the second she started talking.) So, she assumes it's PTSD. She's almost certain of it, in fact.
Doesn't make her feel any less insane when she breaks down in front of Robin on their second date.
After Nancy broke up with Jonathan, it had taken about 2 weeks (and the intervention of Eddie, who'd realised why Nancy was death glaring Vickie every time the redhead got near Robin) for Nancy to finally confess she had a crush on the taller girl. Robin, in true Robin fashion, had rambled about how she thought Nancy was great and she really liked her too and she would love to take her on a date as soon as she could afford it.
First date had been a very sweet picnic in the park (planned by Robin). Robin had walked her home afterwards and Nancy was pretty sure she'd never blushed harder in her life than she did when she kissed Robin's cheek goodbye.
Second date and they were watching movies at Nancy's. Mike was staying at Will's and her parents had taken Holly for a weekend to Ted's parents'.
It had been fine, absolutely fine, until that stupid fucking lake scene.
In hindsight, had Friday the 13th been their smartest decision of the night? No. But both of them had seen it before and a horror movie with a nice normal human as the monster was child's play after the last few years so...they'd watched it.
Only Nancy forgot about the ending.
Right at the end, after everything is fine and Alice escapes, she dreams of Jason dragging into the lake.
And suddenly, Nancy isn't tucked up safe against Robin.
She's in the pool.
She watches Barb get dragged in.
How Vecna killed her, over and over and over again and Nancy's the reason it happened and-
"Nance!"
Nancy snaps back to reality, first registering the silence of the room, then the hands wresting on her shoulders and finally, Robin's concerned face only a few inches from hers.
She tried to say something, to apologise for freaking out, to assure Robin that she was okay, anything but all that came out was a harsh, choked sob. Robin brought a hand up to cup her cheek and brushed away tears that Nancy hadn't even realised were falling.
"You with me?" Robin asked softly.
Nancy nodded, before launching herself forward to cling to her. Robin ran a hand through her hair and slowly started to rock them, muttering assurances that Nancy was safe, it was okay, everything was okay.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
It takes almost an hour for Nancy to feel like she can speak again.
"'m sorry." She finally mumbled, not bothering to move from where her face was tucked into the crook of Robin's neck.
"You don't have to be sorry for anything." Robin assured, as she gently rubbed circles on Nancy's back. "I won't ask what you were thinking about, not if you don't wanna talk about it, if you wanna talk I'll listen obviously but...has that happened before?"
"Yes." Nancy admited after a moment, too emotionally drained to lie. "At 3 times a week normally. 'S been a while since the last one."
She felt more than heard Robin hum in thought then.
"I'm really sorry." Nancy repeated. "I ruined the date."
"No, you didn't." Robin pulled away and guided Nancy to look at her. "You can't control that sort of thing."
"...I think it's PTSD." Nancy practically whispered. "I'm never going to be able to get diagnosed with it, anyone that could would probably lock me up if I talked about the Upside Down and...everything else." She adds with a hollow chuckle. "They'd be right. I am pretty crazy."
"No crazier than me." Robin said immediately.
"You're not crazy."
"Yes I am. If you think you are, then I definitely am."
"No. You're not. You don't jump at the sound of splashing water, you can stand to be left alone for more than ten minutes without feeling like your lungs are collapsing. You don't have to peak into your brother's room at 2 in the morning to convince yourself he's still breathing." Nancy sighed and rubbed her face. "That's crazy. You are not crazy."
"...do you have any idea how many times my mom has dragged me to the doctor?" Robin asks after a moment, with a laugh at that sounded just as forced as Nancy's had. "First, she thought I had brain damage when I didn't learn to walk on time. Then she thought I was just...well, slow's the mildly less insulting term but she used another word that I don't wanna repeat, when I was behind on learning to talk. Then that I was difficult because I couldn't make friends and I would have tantrums when I had to wear itchy clothes-"
"You're not any of those things!" Nancy said firmly, sitting up on her knees and cupping Robin's face.
"Nancy-"
"I'm serious Robin! If you're not gonna let me call myself crazy for my...episodes, then I'm not letting you call yourself any of those things either. Okay?"
Robin looked at her, full eye contact (a rarity, Nancy had noted), before sighing and bringing a hand up to brush some of Nancy's hair out of her face. "My point is, if you think you're nuts, then so am I. We're not insane, Nancy. You've...you've been through more shit in what, 3 years, than most people will in a lifetime and I have...something messed up with my brain-"
"There is nothing wrong with your brain." Nancy asserted. "I like it just the way it is."
That got a genuine laugh out of Robin, which in turn got Nancy to smile.
They stared at each other for a few more moments, a comfortable quiet between them, before Robin decided to be bold.
"Can I kiss you?" She asked quietly.
Nancy didn't bother to reply. She just leaned in and pressed her lips against Robin's.
Thank you for the request! I hope I did okay with it 😅
I have 2 others, one from @robin-buck1ey and one from @imsochaotic but it's currently past 1am for me so I'll get to them tomorrow or Friday.
Hope you enjoy this!

Five - Chapter 4
Series Masterlist
Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
Five lies on her back, gloomily tossing a tennis ball into the air; Mike is flicking through some of Will's drawings. Eleven fiddles with the dial to Mike's SuperComm.
"Can you please stop that?" Mike asks, looking over at Eleven.
The walkie makes a clicking noise as Eleven turns it off, but then there is another click as she turns it back on, static crackling as she changes between channels.
"Are you deaf?" Mike snaps angrily. "I thought we were friends, you know? But friend tell each other the truth. And they definitely don't lie to each other." Five looks over at her sister, and Eleven stares at Mike, wide eyed. "You made me think Will was okay, that he was still out there, but he wasn't. He wasn't! Maybe you thought you were helping, but you weren't," Mike says and Eleven's eyes well with tears. "You hurt me. Do you understand? What you did sucks," Mike snarls. "Lucas was right about you," he turns back to his pictures. "All along."
Eleven frowns, turning her attention back to the walkie and static crackles again.
"So come on and let me know," a voice sings through the walkie. "So come on and let me know. Should I stay or should I go?"
Mike's eyes widen considerably and he places Will's drawings down beside him on the couch before he gets to his feet, running over to Eleven in the fort.
"Should I stay or should I go now?" the voice sings softly.
Mike falls to a knee, and Eleven holds out the walkie.
Five had rolled onto her stomach, and is watching Eleven and Mike with wide eyes.
"If I go there will be trouble," Will Byers sings. "If I stay it will be double."
Mike takes the SuperComm from Eleven. "Will, is that you? It's Mike! Do you copy? Over."
Tears well in Eleven's eyes as she watches Mike yell into the walkie, desperate to find his friend. Five moves over, gently wiping the blood from below her sister's nose before she sits beside her, wrapping her in a side hug.
"Will, are you there?" Mike says into the walkie. Static crackles in response. "Will!" Mike yells. "Was that . . . Was it . . ." Mike asks, his hands coming to rest on Eleven's shoulders.
"Will," Eleven replies, blood still dripping down from her nose and onto her lip.
. . .
"Michael?" Mrs. Wheeler opens her son's bedroom door. "Hi, honey. How are you feeling?" she asks, her tone softening.
"I, uh . . ." Mike stammers, his covers pulled up to his chin; Mrs. Wheeler sits down on her son's bed."I don't think I can go to school today."
"Oh, that's fine, sweetie," Mrs. Wheeler says, her expression softening. "I need to drop of Nance, then I'm gonna check in on Barb's parents. Why don't you grab a book or something and come with me? We can stop at the video store on the way back, pick out whatever you want. Even R-rated," she tries to cheer up her son.
"I think I just want to say home today," Mike replies. "I mean, if that's okay?" he asks.
"Well, are you sure you're gonna be all right here by yourself?" Mrs. Wheeler asks, her eyebrows knitting with concern.
"I think so," Mike says.
"Okay," Mrs. Wheeler finally gives in. "But if you need anything, call Dad at work." She leans over, placing a kiss to her son's forehead before she gets up, walking towards the door.
"Bye," Mike says softly.
"Bye, sweetie," Mrs. Wheeler replies.
As soon as the door closes, Mike throws the covers off of himself and reaching for his walkie.
"Lucas, do you copy?" Mike asks. At the silence, he says, "Lucas, come on, I know you're there! This is urgent. I'm serious. I'm not gonna stop until you answer."
"Go away, Mike," Lucas replies. "I'm not in the mood, all right? Over and out."
"No, not 'out'," Mike says. "I'm not messing around, okay? This is about Will. Over."
"What about Will?" Lucas asks. "You mean about his funeral? Over."
"No, not his funeral," Mike replies. "Screw his funeral!"
"What?" Lucas asks with disbelief.
"Get over here stat," Mike says. "And bring Dustin. Over and out."
. . .
The school bell rings at Hawkins High School and Nancy Wheeler can hear the indistinct chatter of her classmates.
"So, wait a sec. I don't understand," Steve Harrington, a junior - and Nancy's boyfriend - says. "You went back to my house?"
"To look for Barb," Nancy replies, referencing the sudden disappearance of her best friend.
"Yeah, okay, but why didn't you just talk to me?" Steve replies, his hands sliding into the front pockets of his jeans. "That's crazy."
"I don't know," Nancy admits. "I . . . I was scared."
"You seriously think you saw a guy in a mask just hanging out in my yard?" Steve asks.
"I don't think it was a mask," Nancy voices.
"But he had no face?" Steve echoes, looking slightly amused.
"I don't know," Nancy breathes. "I don't know, I just . . . I have a terrible feeling about this."
"This is bad," Steve says, moving to lean back against the brick wall. "This is really bad."
"What?" Nancy asks, stepping forward slightly.
"The cops . . ." Steve replies, ". . . they're gonna want to talk to all of us now. Tommy, Carol, everybody who was at the party."
"So?" Nancy folds her arms against her chest.
"My parents are gonna murder me!"
"Are you serious right now?" Nancy says.
"You don't understand. My dad's a grade-A asshole," Steve replies.
"Barb is missing! And you're worried about your dad?" Nancy asks, her eyes widening with disbelief.
"Okay, just . . . When you talk to the cops, just . . ." Steve tries, " . . . don't mention the beers. It's just gonna get us both in trouble, and Barbara's got nothing to do with it, okay?"
Nancy scoffs. "I can't believe you right now."
. . .
The three boys are sitting in front of the fort, watching Eleven fiddle with the SuperComm. There is a static as the Eleven tries to tune the radio.
There is an indistinct whimpering.
"We keep losing the signal, but you heard it, right?" Mike asks.
"Yeah, I heard a baby," Lucas replies.
"What?" Mike asks with disbelief.
"Mike, you obviously tapped into a baby monitor." Lucas tells his friend. "It's probably the Blackburns' next door."
The bathroom door squeaks a little as Five steps out.
"Will was singing a song," Five tells Dustin and Lucas as she sits down in the fort beside her sister.
"Are you sure you're on the right channel?" Dustin asks.
"I don't think it's about that," Mike voices. "I think, somehow, she's channeling him."
"Like . . . like Professor X," Dustin offers.
"Yeah," Mike replies.
"Are you actually believing this crap?" Lucas asks.
Five, who is sitting across from the boy, looks up, meeting his eyes.
"I don't know," Dustin means. "I mean . . . Do you remember when Will fell off his bike and broke his finger? He sounded a lot like that."
"Did you guys not see what I saw?" Lucas asks. "They pulled Will's body out of the water."
Five shakes her head, pausing for a moment before she speaks. "I've smelled . . . dead people before. It smelled fake."
Eleven fiddles with the walkie again.
"This isn't gonna work," Mike says. "We need to get to a stronger radio."
"Mr. Clarke's Heathkit ham shack," Dustin suggests.
"Yeah," Mike says excitedly.
"The Heathkit's at school. There's no way we're gonna get the weirdos in there without anyone noticing," Lucas says. "I mean . . . look at 'em."
Five raises an eyebrow.
. . .
Five and Eleven exit Nancy's room. Eleven is wearing a pink dress and sporting a blonde wig. The boys had tried to argue, telling Five to just shapeshift, but she'd put her foot down - no more shape shifting unless it was necessary. As if the boys hadn't noticed the continuous stream of blood coming from her nose. Five is wearing a pair of high waisted jeans with a red t-shirt tucked into them with a buffalo plaid flannel unbuttoned on top, a pair of red Vans, and sporting a (H/c) wig.
"Wow," Lucas says, an eyebrow raising. "They look -"
"She looks pretty," Mike says, his eyes wide, looking at Eleven.
Five chuckles.
"Good," Mike says hastily, Dustin eyeing his friend, looking amused. "Pretty good."
. . .
The five kids walk through the school.
"Attention students, there will be an assembly to honour Will Byers in the gymnasium now," a man says on the intercom.
The boys lead the way to a door, trying to force their way inside.
"I don't think that's gonna work," Five remarks and Eleven giggles.
"It's locked," Mike says unnecessarily.
"What?" Lucas moves to try and open the door.
"Hey, do you think you can open it?" Dustin asks Eleven. "With your powers?"
"Boys?" A man rounds the corner.
"Hey," Mike says quickly.
"Assembly's about to start," Mr. Clarke tells the boys.
"We know. We're just, you know . . ." Mike says, his expression falling.
"Upset," Lucas says, leaning against the door.
"Y-y-yeah," Dustin stammers, "definitely upset."
Five wants to roll her eyes at how un-upset the boys sounded.
"We need some alone time," Mike says.
"To cry," Dustin says.
"Yeah, listen . . ." Mr. Clarke says, and Five can tell that the man is holding back tears. "I get it, I do. I know how hard this is, but let's just be there for Will, huh? And then . . . the Heathkit's yours for the rest of the day. What do you say?" Then he looks over, seeing Five and Eleven. "I don't believe we've met. What are your names?"
"El-" Eleven begins.
"Eleanor! She's my, uh -" Mike pauses, looking panicked.
"Cousin," Lucas says.
"Second cousin," Dustin pipes up.
"She's here for Will's funeral." Mike says.
"Where are you from exactly?" Mr. Clarke asks El.
"Bad place -" Eleven replies.
"Sweden!" Dustin interrupts.
"I have a lot of Swedish family," Mike adds.
Mr. Clarke then turns to Five.
"I'm (Y/n)," Five says. "Will's sister." Five wants to kick herself at the words she'd just blurted.
"Oh," Mr. Clarke's eyes widen with surprise, "I didn't know Will had a sister."
"I live with our dad," Five tries and Mr. Clarke nods, looking satisfied with her answer.
"Well, welcome to Hawkins Middle, (Y/n), Eleanor," Mr. Clarke says. "I just wish it was under better circumstances. Well, shall we?" he asks, gesturing the kids forward.
"Yeah," Lucas says, and he, Dustin, and Mike all exchange relieved looks.

Protector of the Party: Chapter 8

Chapter Eight: Gone
PAIRING - Steve Harrington x Reader BASED OFF - 1x08 WARNINGS - Mentions of violence and mental illness WORDS - 3.6K
A/n - Again very sorry that this has had to be posted a day later.
Series Masterlist Masterlist
Hopper hadn't allowed Y/n to go with him in the rescue of the kids. Herself, Nancy, Joyce and Johnathan were all told to stay and to just sit until he returned. Y/n, unsurprisingly, hated every moment of it.
While Johnathan sat between his mother and Nancy, Y/n was pacing around what was left of the Wheeler house. She avoided the Christmas lights, and the bits of wall as the girl thought. She trusted Hopper, but for him to go up against the lab, who had millions of spies dotted around and even a helicopter in the sky? It was a risk. A risk big enough for Y/n to panic. A lot.
The headlights which flashed across the front room curtains acted as water thrown onto the fire which was Y/n's worry. The three behind her pulled themselves from the couch as Y/n led the way to the porch. They lurked in the doorway for a moment before the truck stopped. The headlights turned off and each of the kids, and Hopper, jumped out of the car. "Mike!" Exclaimed Nancy from behind Y/n, pushing passing the girl gently to grasp her brother. "Oh my God Mike."
Y/n followed a similar action as Dustin got out from the car. Though, unlike Mike, Dustin actually met her in the middle. "You are so fucking stupid, you know that?" She said as she daren't even loosen her grip around the curly haired boy, scared that if she did, she'd loose him forever.
But, as Dustin wiggled, Y/n pulled and stood from the ground she had been kneeling against to reach Dustin's height. Her eyes soon landed on a small, shaven-hair, girl. The same one Dustin had once named was Mike's cousin and then, after admitting to his lie, came out about the girl being called El. "Is that my dress?" Nancy asked from next to Mike.
Y/n glanced between the younger girl and her friend, no words following. So Y/n put her hand out as an offering, "You're El, right?" She presumed.
The girl looked between the hand and Y/n's expression, hesitant in making any movement at all. So she looked to Mike. "She's the one I told you about." He spoke with a smile that seemed to bring comfort to El. "The protector of the party."
And with that, El stared back at the hand and she shook it.
Everyone returned back inside the house. They wasted no time as they found their seats back on the couch, the kids crouched on the floor as they started explaining...everything. How they knew all of it completely had Y/n puzzled. They called it the upside down. That was where Will and Barb were trapped, that was where this creature, or what the kids were calling the Demogorgon, had come from.
Mike had started to draw a picture to help depict his explanation of this upside side. He lined the paper first, before doodling a small person and then a dot of some kind. "Okay, so in this example, we're the acrobat. Will and Barbara, and that monster, they're this flea." Mike guided his words with the tip of his pen as he pointed between the stick figure and the dot. "And this is the Upside Down, where Will is hiding." Her heart stung at the thought of Will in this place, whatever it was, stuck there with this creature. Mike dropped the paper and pen before continuing, "Mr Clarke said the only way we get there is through a rip in time and space." Sounded easy enough.
Y/n's brows raised as she listen to Mike like a fish on a hook. "The same Mr Clarke who teaches middle school science." She thought was right to point out.
Dustin sat up from the side of Mike, "We think he was talking about a gate." He added with his toothless grin.
"That we tracked to Hawkins lab-" Informed Lucas.
"-With our compasses." Dustin continued as if the two were fighting over who was to say which part.
But as they realised the expressions that stared back at them, they realised there was more explanation needed. Y/n, however, despite her stereotype, still a nerd, was following completely. Enough, in fact, she finished Dustin's words for him. "The gate would have such a strong electromagnetic field that it changed the compasses direction." She realised, checking with Dustin for confirmation. Who, luckily for her, nodded.
Johnathan leaned into Y/n's side, "How do you know that?" He asked.
"Physics. Last year." She told him before watching the boy lean back and question whether he had actually ever paid much attention.
From the chair across from everyone, Hopper finally voiced his thoughts. "Is this gate underground?" His expression was stern as he glared right at El.
Y/n felt her brows narrow as she clocked onto what Hopper was questioning. While she didn't remember it well, she could recall the slit in the wall that had been glowing, littered in sludge that made the girl shiver just at the thought of it. "Yes." Said El.
Y/n glanced between Hopper and the younger girl. "Next to the large water tank?" She pressed.
She nodded, "Yes." That was the gate. The gate to the upside down. Her and Hopper had been face to face with it.
Dustin, suddenly concerned for the safety of his cousin, sat upright as he attempted to gage what had just happened. "How- how do you know that?"
Y/n looked to Hopper, pleading for him to answer. Instead, Mike's voice came, "Because they've seen it."
Now, Dustin only looked to the girl. His shook his head as his mouth fell agape, utterly flabbergasted. "You- You've seen it." He reiterated in disbelief. "How the hell have you seen it!"
Y/n gestured her hand for Dustin to calm - not that it did much. "I will tell you later. What matters now, is finding Will and Barb."
"Is there any way that you could talk to Will? That you could reach him in this..." Joyce questioned as her stuttering tone trailed off, pupils on El.
"Upside down." She finished for her.
"Yeah. Upside down."
El did nothing but nod, causing Nancy to lean forward, as her hands cupped one another. "And my friend Barbra? Can you find her too?" Another nod.
A thought rose in Y/n's mind that she debated on speaking aloud. Her eyes glanced to Hopper who was still looking at Eleven in curiosity. And, so, the girl gave into her thoughts. "My mum, she was at the lab too." As she started, El's expression faded, as if just the mention of the lab was so daunting to her. "I don't think she's there anymore. Maybe she's in the upside down too." She glanced over to Nancy before back to El. "Here, I have a photo of her-" Y/n rushed, rummaging through her jacket pockets, dragging out the wrinkled picture of her mother and passing it to El. "Here. Do you know where she is?"
El stared at the picture. She stared for a while. Long enough to make Y/n nervous. As the girl looked up, shook her head, Y/n felt this overwhelming distortedness that she couldn't quite place. "No." El said and the other girl felt like her whole body urged her to run from this situation. El passed the photo back over, barely able to make eye contact with Y/n. "Sorry." She paused. "Gone. Bad men."
Gone.
Y/n didn't have to question much further. The word rung around her mind. The image, the memory of her mother flooding through her mind, knowing that was all she had. There was no more, now. She was gone - as El had put it, because of the bad men.
The girl wobbled as she stood from the couch, tears falling from her pupils as she attempted to leave the situation. She couldn't be in front of Nancy Wheeler, or the whole party, or even Joyce, crying like she knew she going to do. So she fled. "Excuse me." She had muttered, rushing down the hallway as her body shook and the girl fought to catch her breath.
Y/n got into Johnathan's room just in time. She shut the door behind her and let her back fall against the wood, sliding down as her knees became weak. Her cheeks were stained in tears as her voice whimpered through it. Her mind tried to fight off the idea of death, the concept of knowing that her mother wasn't coming back, that Y/n would never hear her voice again, or feel her touch, that she was gone, it felt like something she'd never be able to accept.
A gentle knock came from the wood of the door. "Y/n," Hopper's voice was soft compared to how they usually spoke to one another.
The girl felt as if her back were like bricks, that maybe they would never move. But as Hopper knocked once more, she shuffled along, her back now leaning against the end of Johnathan's bed. It didn't take long before the door swung open and Hopper walked in. He closed the door behind him, taking the space next to Y/n on the floor.
Silence followed.
Hopper wasn't sure what to say. He'd been here before: the day he took Y/n's mother away from her and to the hospital where she was trapped. Then, he hadn't said anything to the younger girl, and he regretted it. "I'm sorry." That's what came out first. "We- I should have realised what this lab was doing well before now, okay? I never should have lost sight of your mum's case and I'm sorry I did." He paused, looking at the girl who couldn't break her gaze from the carpet. "But we have a chance now, to tear this lab to the ground."
She finally glanced back at him. "I just want to tell her-" Her voice was shaky as she thought to speak her piece. "I want to tell her everything I didn't." And with that, the tears flooded though. While Y/n knew her mum wasn't at the mental capacity to understand much now, she still wished she had sat at her bedside, and told her things. Told her about how school went, the boy she was crushing on and the stupid joke her little cousin Dustin had made on the drive home.
"I know." Said Jim as they glance to one another before Hopper took her into his arms, letting her tears stain his jacket as she cried. "I promise you, I will get everything the lab has on your mothers case, okay?" Y/n nodded as a response. "We just need to get through this first."
Y/n retracted from the man as she wiped her tears. "How are we doing this?" Was probably a good question to be asking.
Hopper gestured to what was waiting behind the closed door. "That's what they're planning." He informed. And so Y/n stood finally, balancing on her heels as she faced the door. "You don't have to do this, you know, kid." He told her. But still, she walked out, and joined the rest of the group who were huddled around the kitchen table.
She wasn't sure what she had missed. But all eyes fell to her. She took a sharp inhale as she made sure to hold the tears that sat in her waterline. "Tell me you have a plan." Y/n said and it seemed they all relaxed, knowing that she was okay.
And so the kids started to explain. Everything. From El attempting to gain contact, to now, their plan of creating a sensory deprivation tank for the girl. That way, she would be able to successfully contact Will. Which was why they had the paddling pool and were about to leave for the middle school. It seemed like a stupid, stupid plan when it was over simplified, but it was the only plan they had. So Y/n agreed to it.
She joined Hopper in the truck as he drove the way towards the school that was abandoned at this time of night. She sat in the passengers seat as she had done millions of times before. But, what was new to her, was the hoard of bickering kids that squabbled behind them. Y/n could tell in a glance, Hopper was biting down his tongue.
Y/n hadn't let go of the photo of her mother since El passed it her back. And she even felt guilty when she looked away from it, facing Hopper as his eyes starred at the empty road in front of them. "You know what I've realised this past week?" The girl started, shoving the photo gently back into her jacket pocket.
Hopper hummed in response, giving a glare to this kids through the rear view mirror that they were too distracted to catch. "That I'm good at it."
The man peeked over at her, "Good at what?"
She shrugged, "Finding things out, I guess." She paused as she thought on her next words. "Maybe made me think of doing something like an apprenticeship at the station in the Summer." She slyly slipped in with a smirk gliding across her lips.
Hopper had never laughed so loudly - especially considering current context. "You? At- At the station?"
"What is so funny about that?" Y/n groaned like the angsty teenager she was.
"Oh, I don't know, your criminal record might be a good reason why this is so funny." He spoke thought a chuckle.
"I'm sure you could pull a few strings!"
Hopper calmed a little as he finally looked to her with a genuine expression. "Since when did you want to become a cop?" He questioned.
She shook her head lightly, "Not a cop. More like, detective stuff." She admitted, thoughts that had been floating around her head since she leant over Hopper's shoulder that day in the library, leading her to where she was now. The way that once over-dramatic conspiracy theory had unravelled, had Y/n completely mesmerised when she thought back on it. It was incredible just thinking how they had gotten here. To be able to do that as a job, it had certainly peaked her interest.
The man sighed as he realised the seriousness of this request. "I'll see what I can do." He finalized, watching as a grin tugged at her lips.
"Thank you."
Hopper stopped for a moment. He couldn't recall a time she had ever actually thanked him. Even when he had rescued her from what could have been an arrest, or probably worse and could have gained herself a court case, no thank you. But, for some reason, she thanked him for a job offer he may or may not even be able to provide.
Hopper was soon pulling into the Middle school, swerving between two spaces before stopping the engine. And everyone returned to their allocated people. Johnathan went with Hopper to acquire the ice, Nancy with Mike to gather the hose, Dustin and Lucas (while Y/n pointed out against such) were requested to set up the kiddie pool. And Y/n was paired with Joyce to prepare young El for what she had done many times before.
Y/n located an empty classroom, switched on the lights and collected a few chairs to sit around. Joyce had brought duck tape to create the darkness required for El to enter this 'state'. Whatever that meant. The women wrapped it around a pair of large goggles to effectively get that pitch black sight. How El did this, as young as she was, was a concern for another time.
"This will keep it dark for you, just like your bathtub." Joyce assured, though she seemed uncertain in calling it a bathtub. This was all a very new concept for everyone to grasp. "You're a very brave girl, you know that, don't you?" She added when El hadn't given a reply.
She glanced to Joyce and then to Y/n. The other girl nodded as a way to reinstate Joyce's words before gently placing her palm over El's hand, a small smile glistening over her lips. "You are incredible for doing this. Putting yourself in danger to save people you've never known before." She said.
Joyce then placed her own hand on top of the one Y/n had let fall to El's. She smiled too. "Thank you." She paused for a moment. "Listen, we are going to be there with you the whole time, right?" Joyce glanced to Y/n who nodded, assuring her words once again. "And if it every gets too scary...in that place, just let me know okay?"
El listened to the words deeply before responding, "Yes."
"Ready?" Y/n questioned as she straighten her back, puffing out her chest with a glint in her eye which bred hopefulness.
El reciprocated her movements. "Ready."
And so Y/n led the way towards the gym that she hadn't step foot in since she left for High School. At that moment in time, the kids and Nancy were filling up the pool. Lucas yelling, "Warmer!" and, "Colder!" Every few seconds before it reached the perfect temperature. Then Johnathan and Jim began slicing open the bags of salt and letting it pour into the pool. They didn't stop until Dustin's egg floated above the water. Then it was perfect. And then El could climb into the pool.
Joyce held her hand from the right side and Y/n held the other, guiding the young girl into the pool until she gained her balance. She slowly crouched down before floating onto her back. As if in a instinct, the flights flickered. And they didn't stop. Each of them searched their surroundings before the flights burst and darkness covered the gym.
Y/n couldn't make out what El was feeling as she floated in the make-shift pool. All she knew was that, somehow, this would lead them to Will.
It took a few moments before the lights began to flicker once again. "What's going on?" Asked Nancy who was looking around the room as if it were going to answer her.
"I don't know." Mike responded as his eye stayed glued to El.
A sense of nerves kicked in to Nancy. She leant forward over the pool, "Is Barb okay?" She questioned as if El were in any kind of state to tell her right now. "Is she okay?" The girl repeated, her voice raising, a glint of pain weaved through her tone.
A long second passed before there came an answer, in a whisper. "Gone." Said El. One word that, while it came for a young girl, echoed through the whole gym and sent shivers down all spines. "Gone. Gone. Gone." She kept going and even she was frightened by it.
Joyce reached out her hands as to soothe the younger girl. "It's okay, it's okay." She calmed as El's words faded. "It's okay, we're right here, honey." She assured. And soon, El's movements slowed and she panting nearly as much as she had been prior.
And not long after, the girl spoke once again. "Castle Byers."
Everyone looked to one another.
"Will?" El called.
She had found him.
Joyce almost leaped forwards into the pool just at the mention of her son. "You tell him-" She paused as to conjure up the right words. "You tell him I'm coming."
Y/n could only watch the young girl. The girl who had been in the same lab as her mother. Who could find places that seemed nothing more than fiction. It made her question if what Y/n's mother had been saying, about being able to enter minds and to mould thoughts, maybe that wasn't the bullshit everyone had called it out to be. I mean, if that lab had really taken her from the hospital, they must have wanted something from her.
The static crackling behind Y/n dragged her from her thoughts. And, for a second, she thought she had been dreaming when a, "Hurry." Was sounded through the static of the walkie. But as she looked to everyone; they had all too heard it.
Will was alive. He was safe.
Joyce leaned over once again, "Listen, you tell Will, you tell him to stay where he is." She instructed. "We're coming, okay? We're coming."
Eleven jolted out from the water, throwing off the duck taped goggles. Joyce held the girl tightly as to calm her as her breath became uneven. No one dared to move. Not yet. Everyone needed to let what had just happened sink in.
But, there was a sense of haste that followed. If Barb was gone, then maybe Will was next and maybe they didn't have long. Truly, they knew nothing, but it was best to move now than not at all. So, not long after, they started to disband.
Y/n took El into a towel as to get her body temp back up again. Then, she guided her to the bleaches where the girl sat, comforted by Y/n's arms and the rest of the party sat around her. Y/n watched from afar as Johnathan, Nancy, Hopper and Joyce discussed their next moves. She couldn't quite tell the tone of the conversation. Only that they all seemed to follow Hopper when he stormed off. The girl thought about following them, but the tight grip El held on her, stopped that from happening.
But, when it had been ten minutes and there was still no sign of them, Y/n's concerns raised. "Look after her." She ordered the boys before wondering out of the gym.
And just outside, Nancy and Johnathan were gathering their things as they stood from the floor. No sign of Hopper or Joyce. "Where's your mum? And Hopper?" She questioned.
Nancy and Johnathan shared an expression which made Y/n nervous. "They went to find Will." Johnathan finally dropped.
Her brows narrowed and she glanced between the pair, "And what are you two doing?"
There was a longer paused. This time, Johnathan looked to Nancy to answer.
"We're going to kill it."

Shut Him Up
Richie Tozier x Reader
Aged up 5 years after fight with IT so they are 18 :)
summary: The Losers Club has a movie night and Richie doesn’t know how to shut up.
warnings: cursing, fluff
word count: 2.1k
Popcorn popped loudly in the vibrating microwave, Y/N maneuvered around the kitchen gathering the various snacks and drinks that the Loser’s requested. She grabbed a large bowl for the popcorn as a knock pounded against the door.
“Hold on!” Y/N dropped the hot bag and rushed over to the door, pulling it open with a huff, delighted to see Beverly Marsh behind the door. “Oh thank god it’s you.” Y/N said wrapping her arms around Bev.
“You sure are happy to see me.”
“Because I know you’ll actually help me get everything set up and not just goof off. If Richie was the first one here one more time I was gonna go crazy.” Y/N explained as she walked to the kitchen, handing Bev a few bags of chips and a tray holding drinks. Y/N poured the popcorn in a bowl and grabbed the packages of candy from beside her and ushered for Bev to follow her through the corridor to her Living Room. They dropped the snacks onto the table. Y/N looked down to see she was still in her “nicer” clothes.
“Hey, I’m gonna go get changed real quick, open the door if any of them come.”
“I need you to know I’m gonna snoop.” Bev yelled out as Y/N began bounding up the stairs.
“You always do!” Y/N yelled back. Once inside her room, she rummaged through her drawers to find an old t-shirt and a pair of pajama pants. She put on a pair of socks, grabbed a few blankets from her room and came back down to a room full of teenage boys. She looked around at how the chairs and couches filled up, to see that she was once again stranded on the loveseat with the chatterbox himself Richie Tozier.
“Hey Bev! I think you might have left something in my room last week, can you come with me for a sec?” Y/N yelled, just peering around the corner. All eyes looked at her.
“What did she forget?” Ben asked as Bev passed by him.
“A girl thing, there’s a reason I didn’t say what.”
“Oh so a Brassiere!” Richie said in the annoying British voice before switching back to his own. “You could have just said Y/N/N, we all know you both have tits.”
Y/N simply flipped him off and grabbed Bev’s hand to go upstairs. The two got inside Y/N’s room and Y/N just crossed her arms and looked at her.
“What? Why are you mad?”
“How the hell did I end up next to Richie AGAIN?”
“We practically have assigned seats at this point…” Bev said trying to play it off.
“Bullshit. Last week you sat in the La-Z-Boy with Bill and this week you’re on the big couch with Ben, Mike and Stan. What is up?” Y/N stared at Bev until she finally broke.
“Okay, he has a crush on you and is too scared to tell you so he keeps asking to sit next to you and showing up first.” Y/N’s jaw hung slack for a few moments before she snapped it shut and ran her hands through her hair. She collapsed backwards onto her bed.
“Beeeevvvvvv. This can’t be happening to me.”
“Oh please, like you don’t feel the same way.” Bev said grabbing Y/N’s hands and pulling her to sit up.
“What are you—“ Y/N looks at Bev who just cocks her head as if to ask ‘are you serious?’. “Fine, maybe I do. But he NEVER shuts up during movies. It ruins the experience.”
“Just ask him to stop, he’d do anything you ask, I’m sure of it.” Bev said. “Now, we have to get down there or else they’ll know this was definitely a lie.”
The two giggle as they leave the room and go back down the stairs. Y/N hip bumps Bev as Bev goes to her seat on the couch and Y/N puts in the movie.
“Kay Stanley, what did you bring us on this fine evening?” Y/N said as she glanced down at the CD.
“Forrest Gump. It was released in theaters a few months ago, the woman at Blockbuster said that it is a must see. It has Tom Hanks.”
“Oh that’s the dude on the poster in the Arcade!” Richie piped in.
“Yeah it is Richie! Doesn’t it have umm…the woman who played Princess Buttercup…umm Ro—“
“Robin Wright!” Stanley finished her thought. “Yeah it is, so you’ve heard of it?”
“Yeah my parents saw it, they loved it. I guess we’re in for a treat.” Y/N flashed her smile to the Loser’s as she tiptoed her way to beside Richie. She couldn’t help but notice that there was only one blanket on the seat.
“Hey guys? I thought I brought down a blanket for each of us?” Y/N looked around the room, the sound of previews playing. Her eyes finally landed on Bev, who had a curious smirk across her face.
“Oh…huh…when I was distributing them there was only seven…I guess you didn’t.”
“It’s fine, I’ll just go grab another.” Before she could leave, Richie grabbed a hold of her hand.
“Don’t worry about that, just take this one. I don’t get cold.”
“Yeah, okay, sure. We all know that’s true.” Y/N said sarcastically, dropping onto the seat. The movie had only been playing for about 15 minutes and Y/N swore that Richie was leaning over and whispering something for 14 minutes of it.
“Psst…Y/N/N…” Richie leaned over to whisper once more.
“What?!” Y/N whispered back with force.
“I actually am cold, can we share?” She looked over, he was giving her puppy dog eyes and her hard exterior was being broken with each second she held eye contact.
“Fine.” She untucked the blanked from under her and threw it across Richie’s Lap. She had to scoot closer in order for the blanket to comfortably cover them both.
“Oooh, awfully close there sweetheart. It’s almost like you like me or some shit.” Richie teased. Y/N just rolled her eyes and kept her focus onto the movie. The blanket and close proximity kept Richie quiet for a bit, but not too long.
“Y/N/N.”
“Richie, please, can you just shut the fuck up?” Y/N/N plead to him in a whisper. She looked toward him, unaware of how close they were, as their noses nearly grazed. Richie took in a breath.
“Make me.” He said, softening his frame. Y/N didn’t know what took over her. Maybe it was the fact that she wanted to actually watch the movie. Maybe it was the fact that she’s had a crush on Richie for the past two years. Maybe she’s using it as ammunition against his crush. She didn’t know for certain, but she leaned forward and kissed Richie. At first gently--longingly. But then she pulled his head closer to her for a more passionate kiss for a few seconds and then she pulled back. She sat back firmly against the couch. Richie sat dazed for a second, glancing between Y/N and his own lap before sitting back just as Y/N did.
The credits began to roll when Mike leaned over and flicked on the lamp in the room. Everyone did the usual stretching and readjusting to light. Stan and Eddie started to small talk about the movie but their attention was piqued by Bev.
“Y/N, did you break Richie?” Bev asked, looking towards the boy who was sitting back against the loveseat, with love struck eyes and a confused look across his face. Every so often he would just look over towards Y/N and then immediately just back to his lap. Y/N glanced over for the first time since and giggled to herself a little bit.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Y/N said just for the ruse.
“Look at him! He’s like…glazed over.” Eddie said flailing at the boy sitting there.
“Yeah, and I haven’t heard him in like 45 minutes, that’s not normal.” Stanley agreed. Suddenly, Richie snaps out of his daze and cockily turns to Y/N.
“Come on, Y/N/N. Show them what you did to me.” Richie smirked in the cockiest way he ever has. As much as she hated it, she kinda loved it too.
“Fine, I will.” Y/N declared in the same tone, making glaring eye contact as she pulled Richie in for a kiss. It lasted for a few moments before they pulled apart. They looked at each other for a few moments.
“What just happened?” Mike said blankly bursting the bubble the two were in.
“That was so…” Eddie pauses to gag. “So fucking nasty.”
“Wow thank you Eds for those touching words.” Y/N sarcastically said.
“Are you gonna explain or are we just gonna sit here?” Bev asked.
“He wouldn’t shut the fuck up during the movie so I asked him to, and he said ‘make me’, so I kissed him. It worked.” She said, maintaining eye contact with Bev, who then started to giggle. Richie’s eyes moved between the two girls, piecing things together.
“Fuck you Bev. You fucking told her.” Richie said standing up angrily, gathering his stuff up, clearly about to storm out.
“Richie I—“Bev started to answer.
“I don’t want to hear it. You both embarrassed me, I…I gotta go.” Richie tried to get past Bill and Mike who had now formed a barrier in front of the door.
“R-R-R-Richie, just listen to th-th-them.” Bill said.
“Why should I?” Richie said. Y/N nervously stood from the love seat and turned to face the doorway.
“Because I’m in love with you.”
“You’re fucking in love with me?” Richie asked shocked.
“Let’s go upstairs, shall we?” Y/N laced her hands through Richie’s and pulls him up the stairs. She slinks through her door and sits on the edge of the bed, patting the spot next to her for Richie. He sits down, and starts wringing his hands. The silence is deafening. “Hey.” She said as she leans to bump into him.
“Y/N/N…” he said dishearteningly. As she looked at him, her gut told her to just say ‘Fuck it’.
“Richie I have had a crush on you since that day two years ago when you found me crying in the clubhouse. You just sat and listened to me, and you made me feel so…safe. It was a side of you I had never seen before. And I liked it. And then suddenly I started liking everything. Except for when you talk through movies, but everything else.” She giggled, and looked at him. She loved the way his curls framed his face and the way his brown eyes still sparkled unlike any other. She loved the way sometimes his mouth looked too big for his face. She loved the way he would overcompensate with his jokes. She loved the way he would tease and treat all of the Losers the same way, and that he cared about spending time with each and every single one of them. He was so loyal, and funny, and handsome, and he was just so utterly Richie.
“You were even pretty when you were crying.” Richie joked back. “I’ve liked you since after the fight with IT, when you asked me if I was okay. No one ever asks me that. I’m surprised you didn’t catch on to this whole fucking crush thing sooner.”
“I’m surprised you were such a pussy and didn’t make the first move.” Y/N responded back.
“Ouch, Y/N, getting me right where it hurts.” Richie pretending to stab himself through the heart and fell back onto the bed. He pulled a dead face, only for a second before he opened one eye and turned to her to see her reaction. Through breathy laughs, she leaned down to hover over the boy. His hand found a base at the nape of her neck and pulled her in for a gentle kiss. It started off sweet and soft but as they realized the position they were in, Y/N flipped her leg over his waist in order to straddle him. The kiss began to pick up speed and passion. The two started to really get into it, only to be cut off by the Losers slamming the door open.
“Oh gross! You guys! We were right down stairs!” Eddie shrieked. Y/N climbed off of Richie.
“As if I would fuck him the very first night we’re dating.”
“We’re dAting?” Richie’s voice cracked with excitement. Y/N turned to him, gave him a peck and a smiley nod yes. “Oh Fuck yeah!”
“Does this mean we’re gonna find y’all making out during movie nights now?”
“God no!”-- “Hell yeah!” Richie and Y/N responded in unison, there were definitely a few things they still needed to work out, but they were happier than ever before.
