Z THE CONCEPT OF YOU REBOOTING VALIANT KNIGHT LITERALLY HAS ME FROTHING AT THE MOUTH. it literally never left my head i am always thinking about it at least a little bit. literally recently i came up with a concept for how some of my original characters for my spinoff would fit into valiant knight fnsnskdj and so i technically have like a rewrite/sequel concept that includes zenry and jasper/[redacted] fnsmdnkxnsn which included me rereading the chapters i beta'd for you to remember some details and i was like UGH THIS WAS SO GOOD I MISS IT

but seriously, like I'm not trying to rag on my writing or anything, but I also know like. I'm not writing anything that's gonna be winning awards anytime soon or anything ground-breaking or anything, but that's never been my goal; and I just say all of that to say that the fact that you're still thinking about something of mine years later and it stuck with you so much that you want to put your own characters into it??????? That's literally so wild to me in the best way, I can't get over it. I'm so serious when I say again that this legit one of the best compliments I've ever received. (Also, if you're willing, I'd very much like to hear about this rewrite/sequel of sorts)

Like I told Pearl in the replies, I feel like my writing is leagues better (i reread stuff from that time period and just cringe now; but to be fair to my past self, she was a novice who was coming back to writing after a 10+ year break so it stands to reason) so I feel like I could do a lot more with it. Okay, so I’m taking this as an opportunity to give you guys a bit of insight into how messed up in the head J is.

I just used Anora as the MC again and a male J.

“What’s your name?” Jimmy asks, crossing his arms, his eyes fixed intently on the woman sitting across from him, kneeling on his king-sized mattress.

“Serena,” she replies defiantly, clenching her teeth as though holding back a rising wave of irritation. She’s tired of doing this night after night. It’s starting to take its toll on her. She knows resisting will only make him angrier, but she doesn’t care. Every time he forces her into this performance, it leaves her feeling sick. She’s never felt a stronger urge to use than after each of these little sessions.

Jimmy’s eyes darken. Serena’s gaze drops to his hands as he begins to clench his fists. She tenses, all too familiar with the consequences of his temper. Not wanting a repeat of the last time, she swallows her pride and lowers her eyes, murmuring, “Anora.”

“Good, but we still need to work on your voice. I keep telling you she has a softer tone than that. Yours is so damn raspy it ruins everything. You need to lay off the cigarettes,” Jimmy says.

Serena rolls her eyes. She can’t help breaking character. The need to correct him rises too fast. “I told you, I don’t smoke cigarettes. I vape, you fucking—”

“Finish that sentence and see what happens.” Jimmy’s voice drops into a low, chilling whisper. “If you keep breaking character, you’ll burn through the last bit of patience I have left. And I promise, no amount of concealer will cover what I do to you.”

Serena swallows hard, her fight-or-flight instincts screaming. She grips the edge of control, knowing that if she lets go, nothing will stop her from bolting out of this room. She can’t go through it again. Not today. She bites her tongue, forces herself to stay still, and tries to relax her throat.

“Anora. My name is Anora,” she says, carefully modulating her tone. She still doesn’t know who this woman is. Every time she asks, he shuts her down. So, eventually, she stopped pushing for an answer.

“Better,” he says, raising a hand to her face. Serena instinctively flinches. His hand hovers for a beat, then he smiles. Outwardly, it could almost pass as tender, but Serena knows better. He brushes his fingers lightly across her cheek.

“You’re so perfect, Anora.” The softness in his voice sends a shiver down her spine. Goosebumps rise along her arms. Whoever this Anora woman is, Serena pities her.

Jimmy pulls away and walks to the chair. He picks up a floral-print dress, studying it with a faint smile. After a moment, he returns and holds it out.

“I want you to wear this. I haven’t seen her in a while, but this is something she used to wear when I knew her.”

Serena takes the dress hesitantly, lowering her head. “Jimmy, this is sick. I don’t want to do this anym—”

A sharp gasp escapes her as Jimmy grabs her hair, pulling until she’s afraid it might tear off her scalp.

“You want to know what I think is sick, Serena?” His voice is venomous. “I think it’s sick that when I found you, you were a two-cent hooker with a needle practically dangling from your arm. It’s sick that you sit here, degrading yourself to do something you clearly hate, because without me, you’d be right back on that street corner. And it’s really sick that even after all my warnings, you’re still stupid enough to test me. Put. On. The. Dress.”

Tears begin to fall. Crushed, Serena nods.

“Okay. I’ll put it on.”
