It’s really sad watching the evolution of the fandom’s perception of the Brazilians cuz I remember when they first joined and the Brazilian members of the fandom were happy that the streamers weren’t being criticized for their energetic and loud nature but now, that is exactly what is happening :/
Like I’ll admit I was harsh on Forever and Cellbit during the second debate because there was a disconnect in philosophy between the two sides of the debate and that frustrated me and I took bbh’s side because I understood his pov the best - but it never even occurred to me that they were “being too loud” or “taking over the debate” like????
These two are incredibly passionate about making the server a better and more fun place. Do I think they are playing into the federations hands? Yes, but so is everyone participating in the election, even the anarchists. Do I think they were being overbearing or talking over other people? No, they werent. At least not any more than everyone else?
This seems to be another evolution of the growing toxicity in the fan base. wasn’t it like last week when the fandom was tearing into the French for both being too into the lore and not into it enough depending on the member?
This is just the dsmp all over again T_T

I just remembered you haven't seen Twilight but I'm going to ask anyway! Do you know what teams your characters would be? Like team Edward or Team Jacob? Oh! Actually I'm also curious what Fandoms would they be in? I recent realized im a Bielieber
oh i have seen the first twilight movie!! i just wasn't a fan. but it was my best friend's favorite series so i do know a lot about it! was anyone actually team jacob? he's like gale in the hunger games. the only reason anyone would actually prefer them is because they're Not the main love interest (sorry to any galeheads out there...)
anyway now i want to imagine what fandoms each of them would be in, so:
🎭 caroline: well, she's a great artist and a monster fucker.. i don't think i have to spell out what she was doing online fjkjsdsj and she loved comic books as a kid, so i feel like at the start of the MCU madness she was really hype and then she got more and more angry with the state of things
💬 beth: she's written some star trek fanfiction more highly researched than her master's thesis and she loved nsync because what is a baby dyke without her emotional support boy band / comphet crushes
🎸 danny: music is the obvious answer, but i'm not familiar with musical history so i can't go into detail 😭 but his dad introduced him to bob dylan and taught him how to play guitar, then he learned piano, then he taught himself how to produce his own music from scratch. this was in the 90s btw so it wasn't very easy to learn. also he used to seriously follow skateboarding
⛅ mikaela: she loved old school country music from female artists like tanya tucker, reba mcintire, loretta lynn, etc. she's less interested in modern country but she looooves shania twain. and she's worked nights (first as a bartender, then a nurse) for most of her life, so she got really into daytime soaps
🌲 asa: he's literally the only one on this list where i'm like...... stumped. he doesn't pay attention to anything online, celebrities, music (he'll listen to whatever), movies (doesn't care), could never commit to watching a whole tv show, etc. he's very floaty and daydreamy? lmao he just doesn't have the headspace to get attached to fictional media like that
🎥 finn: we know he's always been a harrison ford fan boy and in any universe where he survives past the 80s he's a huge nirvana fan!! (if he and jules had a son, they would've named him kurt... he's deeply serious) he's also read every stephen king book that came out while he was alive. he was a big reader in general, particularly horror
🧸 stevie: canon seth rogen super fan, has seen every adam sandler movie (every last one of them) and i knowww she knows the fnaf lore... as soon as she finishes a show/movie she likes to find the weirdest fan art to terrorize her followers. also loves musicals and wants to see cats on broadway someday (a girl can dream)
🎀 elaine: she loves following celebrity news but she watches them like animals in the zoo; ie. she's observing from afar, she has no personal stake in them. she's a frequent flyer on gossip forums like fauxmoi. she was on the ground floor of lipstickgate and was SEATED for dramageddon. and she had a serious twilight phase
🎨 jada: SOMEONE on this list had to get assigned supernatural... i'm not saying it just to say it, i really think she would connect with (early seasons) sam what with the dead mom... fear of losing their humanity... having powers they don't understand... a hot girl manipulating them to use their abilities in sketchy ways... yeah. i'm sure she has favorite contemporary artists (painters specifically) that she'd be able to talk about on end but sadly i don't know anything about that world 😭 oh and she's kind of obsessed with hate-reading booktok books to feel alive
🏈 casper: sports count as fandoms and i don't want to hear a word about it!! his team is the patriots but he's kind of a fairweather fan (maine doesn't have an nfl team so he doesn't have that state loyalty factor). miley cyrus is his problematic fave forever but he's kind of a pop girlie in general
💋 coco: in high school she was a speedcuber if that gives you an idea of what we're working with here.... she grew up with pokemon, naruto, dragon ball z, she collected trading cards, etc. she still likes anime and video games and stuff, she just doesn't have the time to get invested like she used to, and it makes her sad because it reminds her of her late best friend liam. she makes time to play fortnite and minecraft with his little brother and she plays other games on twitch sometimes. has done a LOT of cosplay. she's a huge nerd basically

hi! i haven’t seen mickeyless seasons so i wanted to ask if ian ever has issues about being bipolar like he did with mickey? like him breaking up in s5 for not wanting to see mickey hurt and s10 when he asks if he’s crazy for wanting to be with him! i think i read somewhere that caleb? maybe had a talk about self love or whatever to ian but that dude was horrendous ( not that trevor was best for what ive seen ) so im not sure that counts ahah
hi anon!
yes, ian grappling with his disorder is a very very big theme throughout seasons 6, 7, 8, and 9. in fact i would argue that aside from him becoming an EMT, the bipolar storyline is his most significant one (i typed out my response and it got very long so i'm going to put it below the cut 💛)
in s6 he is fresh off of the diagnosis, the breakup, and coping with mickey going to prison (and he was definitely trying to cope, he still loved him and seeing someone you love locked up is immeasurably hard. i feel like we don't talk about this enough). he feels very aimless and it isn't until an incident (he's a bystander to a car crash and rescues a woman from a burning vehicle) that he finds his new path (becoming an EMT, which he does by the end of s6). caleb was absolutely awful in so many ways but the one good thing he did do was encourage and support ian in finding a new life path, which is the only credit i will give him. there's also a deleted scene in s6 that is so, so important re: understanding how mentally ill people are viewed and treated in society and of course ian's monologue about how he's good at his job because of his illness, which is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show.
in s7, he's getting healthy again and taking his meds, but it isn't without struggle. there's a very poignant and important scene (part one, part two) with lip where he expresses his struggles with his disorder and how hard it is for him to cope with taking his meds and listening to the warning signs for episodes (he was behaving in ways akin to a hypomanic episode/showing signs of slipping into an episode just before the conversation happens). by the end of the season, after he leaves mickey at the border, he's still relatively stable, but the emotional triggers of leaving mickey behind + monica's death start to take a toll on him, which we see in s8. there's also the trevor of it all in s7, but that's a whole other issue. trevor did not have a positive impact on ian's self-esteem whatsoever and even went so far as to demand ian forgive monica and "move on" after knowing 0.1% of the history between the two of them. that scene in particular makes me unfathomably angry and i just know it was deeply, deeply triggering for ian to hear that from someone he cared about.
in s8, we have the gay jesus storyline, which i absolutely detest and hate to discuss, but it's part of his story and it needs to be acknowledged. he's taken advantage of a lot this season, propelled towards some sort of fucked up end goal with very little control over his circumstances, and it quickly spirals out of control. while the writers never explicitly state that ian is hypo/manic during this season, you can watch the progression happen if you pay close enough attention. despite not being given a lot to work with, cameron did a great job at playing the nuances of bipolar disorder this season, showing ian's descent into hypo/mania as the gay jesus movement grows and warps.
in s9, he's in prison for the first time and is noticeably manic. after being released, he starts seeking out meaning and purpose in religion. eventually he's forced to face the consequences of his actions and pleads not guilty to arson by reason of insanity, not only defying the wishes of the gay jesus followers (they feared him going public with his diagnosis and pleading insanity would delegitimize the movement) but also finally choosing to really acknowledge his disorder, reckon with it, and make peace with it, in a strange sort of way. it's a very important and pivotal moment for his character and cameron absolutely delivers during his plea monologue.
if you've see s10 you know how his self-worth takes a hit regarding the marriage storyline, and how he's so terrified of marrying mickey because 1) he doesn't know if he's capable of being a good partner because he doesn't feel like he had good examples of healthy marriage standards growing up and 2) he isn't sure mickey knows what he's signing up for re: his disorder and everything it entails. which, of course, is not the case, because mickey doesn't love him in spite of his disorder, he loves him completely, and his disorder is just a part of that. he wants all of him, always, and that's a huge plot point in s10 and s11 ("i gotta worry, you're my husband" scene my absolute beloved).
anyway. the short answer is that yes, ian spends a lot of time grappling with his disorder and the realities of life as a bipolar human. he deals with issues regarding his self-worth, his purpose, and his relationships. speaking as a bipolar individual, i can say with absolute certainty that coming to terms with your diagnosis is a long, arduous process that takes many years and a lot of commitment to achieve. it's not easy, and though the writers dropped the ball on a LOT of storylines in the show, they did a pretty damn good job of showing how hard it is to cope and live with the realities of bipolar disorder and everything that entails.
if you ever want to see more of his journey, gallavichscenes on youtube has playlists of all of ian's scenes in season 6, season 7, season 8, and season 9. i highly recommend watching the show in its entirety but if you don't want to do that, i recommend at the very least watching the rest of ian's storyline. it colors so much of his story and mickey's and it's hard to fully comprehend the extent of their relationship without understanding that storyline. i hope this answered your question! sending tons and tons of love 💛

聊237有些群众的反应 // On some of the comments re: CH237
This post touches on Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 237. It also touches on Buddhist philosophy and ideas.
Right. So seeing strawman arguments popping up since CH236 is to be expected.
There's one that pissed me off from the "My Country Mangaka, Right or Wrong" crowd, though. This one:
---
Tumblr media
Now. This is the sort of post I actually like reading, even if our opinions differ. I like seeing other people's interpretations of a work. I love meta, especially because it appeals to my compulsively analytical brain.
But one still gotta be aware that they are applying a very specific reading to excuse Gege's execution, right?
One still gotta be aware that this doesn't excuse nor explain glaring storytelling issues, right?
All of that paragraph merely justifies the need to have Gojo out of jujutsu society, which honestly? Most of us already agreed, mai brutha.
I personally predicted Gojo would be out because of his Buddha allegory—if he's enlightened, then he should be the last 6 Eyes user. "This is the last birth; there will be no more re-becoming."
Whether that means the only way for him to go out is death... that's already grounds for reasonable debate. I mean, if Yuki's dream of removing everyone's curse energy comes true, Satoru will still be the last 6 Eyes user. And he'll also get to be just Ken Gojo-Satoru-the Not-Weak-Not-Strong-Mortal-Dude. Hell, it even ties shits up in a neat thematic bow while cementing Yuki's (well-deserved) importance in the story.
Last but not least: "samsara" does NOT mean fate. Gosh, maybe the person who posted this was trying to explain it in ways they believed the "Western audience" would understand, but... that's a tad patronizing, don't you think?
Samsara does not mean fate. Buddhism itself is opposed to fatalism, as seen in its opposition to the Ājīvika school (which is one of the six Śramaṇa schools Buddhists debated way back then). Instead, Buddhists believe in causal determinism.
Ironically, the dude's explanation of "kaisen" as "cyclic" is itself a good proxy for the meaning of samsara. Samsara means "cycles of existence", and it's got nothing to do with fate. Nope, "karma" does not mean fate either. It doesn't even constitute fate in a Buddhist's conception (karma means "action").
---
But this person has more takes, man. When met with a cheeky response saying they are "Gege's alt account", they have this to say:
Tumblr media
Here's the part that starts to piss me off.
Do I think Jujutsu Kaisen has a lot of Buddhist motifs, philosophy, religious ideas, etc. baked into its backbone, to the point that some of them fly over non-Buddhists' heads? Yes.
Sure, I'm also not someone who studies Buddhist philosophy for my major (my major was my darling cognitive science). I simply read up on them for no reason beyond curiosity and intrigue. And agreement, sure. I agree with many of its tenets. Ya know, like when people agree with absurdism and Kantian ethics and stoicism and whatnot. It's actually why I'd die on the hill of Satoru being self-less. I simply think the concept of anatta flew over a large group of JJK enjoyers' heads, and that's fine. Those who get it explain them to those who don't. No big deal. Someday I'll talk about anatta and sunyata as concepts exemplified by Satoru, too.
Do I think there are Japanese cultural ideas flying over non-Japanese's heads? Yes, that's likely to be true.
I'm not Japanese. I'm just some person growing up in a Chinese-dominant family in a multicultural Southeast Asian society. Even then I'm quite sure I miss out on a lot of implied Japanese cultural phenomena when I consume their stories.
But how does any of that even translate to justifying shitty execution in this story, including Gojo's death? Are you saying Japanese people will lap this up because, to them, this is "not bad storytelling" but "a Japanese cultural thing lost in translation"?
Are you serious?
And what the hell is with that strawman of "Western audience"? "Killing Gojo is heresy because something something Gojo is God something perfect unkillable flawless"?
Yo, who the hell actually believes Gojo is "god"? All I see are people connecting Gojo with the Buddha himself, which is a legitimate connection anyway. I'm sure those who genuinely see Gojo as a god-in-flesh are a minority who probably, I don't know, take the story sideway to some hardcore fanon territory.
Most of us are not arguing against taking Gojo out because "the audience only knows Judeo-Christian ideas so this is heresy." Most of us are just arguing that the story hasn't been written well lately. Most of us are just pointing out Gege's lackluster-to-subpar execution and other storytelling issues.
Also, if we are supposed to argue this through the this-is-way-too-Buddhist-for-yall defense, then I would have loved it if this person pointed out what this "singularity" concept in Buddhism itself is.
Because as far as I know, there is no such thing as a constant in Buddhist philosophy. One of the Three Marks of Existence is deadass "Anicca" (impermanence). The point is "nothing is constant /permanent. Permanence is an illusion." The cycle of samsara itself changes constantly.
So how does Satoru being "a singularity" actually make sense in an argument hinging on Buddhist ideas?
Also, for someone who rags on others for missing out on Buddhist ideas, dude also made the mistake of taking Satoru's lack of reaction and remorse to Riko's death as "a trait of his sociopathy" much like one not familiar with Buddhism might.
No. It doesn't show sociopathy. Just as "rising above the cycle of hating your enemies" ain't some strange "juxtaposition" to Satoru's sociopathy either. These two traits are from the same source.
What that alludes to, sir/ma'am/dude, is simply "Upekkhā", or equanimity.
Believe it or not, even Buddhists are cautioned against mistaking "equanimity" with "apathy". Apathy is a "near enemy" in the sense that it superficially represents equanimity when it is not; the latter is related to "non-attachment" and "renunciation".
Apathy, meanwhile, occurs when one does not possess Right View.
This is what I meant when I said, yes, sometimes non-Buddhists may miss out or misunderstand. Hell, my best friend was raised in a very ardent East Asian/Chinese/Pure Land Buddhist family, and yet when I talked to her about equanimity, she thought it was the trait of a sociopath too. Really, 'tis not a crime to not get these things.
It is really irritating though if you actually act like what you say is end-all-be-all, okay?
Satoru didn't express anything when Riko died because it already happened—and there was no use being fixated on what had happened. This was fresh off his Awakening period, too, so Satoru was still in that weird state of jhāna or something, I don't know (Gege makes me doubt myself now). He's in an equanimity state, and therefore "hates no one". That's really it.
---
Gosh, the fact that I'm actually quite passionate about debunking this Redditor's statement is surprising. Honestly I never even thought I'd ramble at length about JJK at all, because it's such a large fandom with so many galaxy brains who outclass me by lightyears!
I think I'm just irate when someone touches on something I know, and expresses this weird "I know Japanese. Do you?" superiority while straw-manning anyone who disagrees with them. Like man? Respectfully, fuck off.
Another Redditor did reply to them though:
Tumblr media
FOR REAL, SOFT_PAY5834! GET 'EM!
...Anyway, this person's reply to Soft_Pay5834 deadass mixes some Japanese in their reply, because I suppose showing off you can write Japanese or something is a legit reinforcement to your arguments now. Wow. I'm really trying hard not to call them a "w_ _ a b _ _".
So yea. Can some people please stop straw-manning any critic as Gojo dick-riders already? Or use any other strawman, for that matter? Thanks.
---
Thank you for reading my ramble. I know, it's a bit dense with a lot of links.... Hyah?

so i am new to the fandom what is the story with drew and odessa? are they still together? and why do fans do not like her so much?? if you don't mind answering because from what i saw on reddit this is a touchy subject lmao.
ooo yeah im probably the wrong person to ask about this lol i dont really know. i know some people are speculating that they are no longer together because she didnt post anything for his birthday but that to me doesnt mean much. and i think as most fandoms go, they dont want to see someone with their fave out of jealousy. idk if shes actually done anything. i personally dont think shes a great actress but i also dont find her terrible, i dont know nothing about her as a person tho

kate saxon saying "[morse] has to go to his darkest place and then choose to carry on" in this video strikes me personally as the best word-of-god explanation we're likely to get for the whole russian-roulette-muddle. taking the scene at face value with that quote in mind, what we have is an endeavour-ish metaphor for morse hitting rock bottom after the major personal blows of the season--losing joan (represented by the church) and losing his faith in thursday (his gun)--and considering whether or not he should pick himself up and carry on. which he does. the scene immediately following is morse singing faure's requiem as he reflects on the people who have brought him to where he is, seemingly having found some measure of clarity and contentment in choosing to move forward with his life.
(on a more granular note, and leaving aside the reused shots, which I'm inclined to dismiss as production shortcuts ill-chosen in retrospect for a scene no one expected to be closely scrutinized, we see morse spin the gun halfheartedly and then study it carefully, even tilting it to one side as if to check whether it's loaded. he would surely be able to see which chamber contains the round. these are not the movements of a man planning to leave his fate up to chance. the audience knows morse cannot die, and even a writer with the confirmed ego (all due respect) of russell lewis wouldn't try to trick us on that expectation for very long. therefore: not a suicidal impulse, or at least not wholly, but a visual metaphor expressed as morse firing into the air instead of presumably his own skull.)

Hi! Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't find transcripts for the Bridgewater podcast. Do those not exist? Or am I just not looking in the right place
hey! this isn't a stupid question at all - as far as I know, there aren't currently transcripts available on the Bridgewater website and there aren't plans to provide them. it's something I've suggested to the team in the past and will ask about again, but unfortunately different companies have different policies and I don't personally control what content gets put out there!
bridgies, does anyone know of any fanmade transcripts that exist out there?

Genuine question: are you upset about other ex-denominations talking bad about catholics in general or talking bad about them in specific ways? I'm just confused if you don't want them criticizing catholics at all
They can critique Catholicism all they want (which I have no issue with) but they tend to actually not have a solid or nuanced understanding of Catholicism or the Church and other ex denominations still tend to be smarmy towards Catholics and ex Catholics in the sense that they still carry the belief that they're superior to both ex Catholics and Catholics alike. Which is typical Protestant and Orthodoxy bullshit that I expect but it never fails to irritate me when it's coming from people who claim they left those denominations behind.
It's the mocking tone, their 'holier-than-thou' attitude and their willful ignorance is what bothers me.
And don't even get me started on the ex Prot tendency to think that ex Catholics are whiny, self centred and act like we have it worse than other ex Christians.

Two Comissions and the one ref image, 0 constancy in horns and it amuses me greatly-I also will take the blame for cause I kinda fucked up on drawing them from a front view/ didn't really give a get ref image for them
(Also that particular image I had Twisted Wonderland and Malleus' horn design on the brain which kind of affected their look)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Typically this is in part what I have in mind- not exactly the same, but I always liked the look of them and being his name sake and well his ygo roots as being a clone from the og Tim is just the first place my brain goes when picturing his horns. I just love how long they are and the way they curve back.
Just big ol horns that go up and back
Regardless this is not a criticism or hate, I love these drawings to bits and would not have paid/ accepted them as is otherwise. I love the unique and differing takes on his horns none the less 10/10

The fucking audacity of this man to tell me he's never cared about me, then ignore me when I say that it was unfair to lie to me when I've clearly been in love with him for years, only to come back almost 2 months later asking me how work is. I can't do this shit. I'm too stressed as is. Too few spoons for my own day to day.
#leon bitches#I'm ignoring him until i can think of something to even say. if i ever do.#all i asked is clarity on what he wants from me because I've wanted nothing more than to worship at his altar for years#that i was the saddest most groveling mutt to ever be born and he was the hand providing sustainance to me#literally everything I've done since i met him was to try to impress him. every job. every achievement. just to get his attention.#and it was so fucking obvious that he has to be lying when he says he didn't notice#and he just thinks it's ok to ignore me when i ask tough questions. just ignore me and pick back up in a month#once I've had time to cool down or whatever#but i haven't cooled down. i can't.#he's hurt me so badly and so many times#and yet i continue to come back to him like the addict i am. and he's the drug.#i want nothing more than whatever scraps he can bother to toss my way. yet i know this will be my downfall.#my ultimate perdition#and i know i should wisen up and tell him to go fuck himself... but i can't bring myself to do so#because losing him is losing the person I've been for so long now. i don't know who i am without his influence..#if he had just wanted something physical he should have said so to begin with#I'm a pretty understanding person. i know how people work and some people just want to fuck. that's fine.#but instead he made it sound as if he wanted to date me. and then didn't talk to me for over 3 months.#this cycle has been going on for almost a year now. i can't even begin to guess at how many years the stress of it has sheared from my life#so I'm ignoring him for now. perhaps in perpetuity. i haven't decided which will hurt less.

So I've been thinking a lot about the Bible and meditating on things I find interesting, and I thought about how the words "I AM" is described as God's name in the Bible. I was also intrigued by this passage from Neville Goddard's rare book, "I Know My Father".
Thus, the resignation of Jesus (who made himself Equal with God) was turning from the recognition of lack (which the future indicates with I shall be) to the recognition of supply by claiming- I AM that.
Now you will see the wisdom in the words of the prophet when he stated, “Let the weak say, I AM Strong.” Joel 3.10. Man in his blindness will not heed the prophet’s advice, so, he continues to claim himself to be weak, poor wretched and all the other undesirable expressions from which he is trying to free himself, by ignorantly claiming that he will be free from them.
I feel like this train of thought is a little brushed over in the LOA community, outside of when we discuss the void state. But I've always wondered what it would be like if someone who was previously struggling with the law took this food for thought, and used the words I AM to feel themselves into their desire. Kind of like a spell, almost? Knowing that God's name is I AM and that God does all things, would you consider saying I AM (your desire) ?
