need to string together my thoughts more on this but reeeeeally interesting to see the influx of media - severance, the substance, mickey 17 - centered on the idea of a double/expendable iteration of yourself.

the dehumanization of workers by the way of non-livable wages, unsafe working conditions, and identity based discrimination (and the current removal of dei initiatives), all drive a wedge between our personhood and the value we are prescribed as a member of the workforce. something something the effects of ai and deepfakes already putting people in danger, the way we live and present our lives online vs in reality, there’s a lot to unpack here. but it’s fascinating to see this trope so widely translated as a storytelling vehicle for these ideas, and that this is the story that people are interested in telling.

hi simblr, it's my birthday today! virgo supremacy! I decided to share one of my favorite recolors i've ever made (finally!!!). I sticker-ed up the City Living keyboard and added some other fun swatches. There is a functional version for use with the City Living EP, and a non functional deco version for both the floor and the wall! More info + download below the cut!

DETAILS:

This is a recolor of the keyboard that came with City Living, and the deco mesh separated by @pixlmonster. Unfortunately this means CL is required, I'm sorry! I was hoping the deco versions would work without CL but they do not. Mesh by pixlmonster is included.

There are 19 swatches. The first 6 are the more unique sticker-ed swatches, and some of my personal favorites. Swatches 7-11 are more patterned recolors, and the last 8 swatches are from @pictureamoebae's fluoro-pop collection. Sometimes you just need a neon pink keyboard, y'know?

I'll be super honest: It's been a year since I first initially started this project and I didn't do a great job recording where I got all of the stickers used. I apologize. Some of them were in game assets already, found via petaluhsims' sticker sheets. Some were found via google/freepik and some came from other places that I'm sure I'm forgetting. I made the parental advisory + seattle grunge stickers on the first swatch myself. Simlish fonts were found via franzillasims' font masterpost. Thanks so much to all of the original sticker/pattern creators, all credit goes to them. I just compiled a bunch of stuff together.

Bent Bars needs UK transfem penpals and second-hand clothes

i do this thing with Bent Bars where they match queer & trans people outside of prison in the UK with queer & trans people in prison to write letters, share things, etc. they also get gender-affirming clothes to transgender people in prison, host writing by queer & transgender prisoners, and other stuff. my experience with them has been amazing!

they recently sent out an email calling for gender-affirming clothes for transgender prisoners. so, if you have any old clothes in good condition you'd like to send to transgender prisoners, you can do that here (click).

and they also asked for more outside penpals! they asked for certain kinds of penpals which are frequently requested by inside penpals, who they have trouble matching. these are:

gay men who are into football

trans women

i figured some of you could help there, especially with the last one.

a month or so ago i started writing to a transfem in prison through Bent Bars, and it turned out she had first applied in 2021 and was not able to match with any trans women until now. not many transfems are signing up for this, meanwhile since getting involved i've heard about a lot of transfems in prison—men's prisons, who may not have the support of anyone who understands. so, i think it would be really helpful if any of my transfem followers or anyone who sees this could sign up as an outside penpal.
