Fun fact: I have an ancestor who abandoned his birthright to move to the US...so he could be closer to rocks and become a gentleman miner in his spare time. Not a subsistence miner, sixteen-tons style, mind you, so I know this was not a decision born out of economic desperation, but a hobbyist miner who used his legitimate business to fund his rock fascination, and if collectively delighting over examining the ancestral rock collection at the family reunion is not relatable, then I suspect there may not be enough autism in your family.

I really have to hand it to Remedy for how they handle their moments of "the player does something while Old Gods of Asgard plays in the background". The first time around it was pretty simple, first time they did it. Fight off hordes of enemies with Barry on stage while the music plays.
The Ashtray Maze is something just so special. You have the moments of the great gameplay fighting off hiss, but for the most part its just taking in and being awestruck by the Oldest House moving and shifting around you, as the song guides you through the maze. I greatly appreciate the fact they made the arcade game in AWE so you could go revisit it whenever you wanted to.
And then we have the two different moments in Alan Wake 2. The musical number, a moment of absurdity and surrealism amongst all of the horror. Plus I love the little bit of fourth wall breaking when Alan sings near the end "can you help me out?" as you then go to the plot board.
And then we have Dark Ocean Summoning, very reminiscent of the Children of the Elder Gods sequence from the the first Alan Wake game. But you have two people helping you, Casey and Estevez, calling out enemy locations, destroying darkness shields and supplying ammo. With the Old Gods of Asgard right there with you this time. The stakes just seemed so much higher in that fight, so much more tension about what was about to happen.
Just such unique pieces all centered around a rather simple idea. Love them for it.

hello! your boogey apocalypse au gives me life and your art is so pretty :D
if i were to write a story with the same boogey apocalypse mechanics would that be okay? i would be using mine and my friends cubitos for the characters, and each individual role would be suited to cubito lore on our server (rather then fitting them into the roles you crafted for the life series guys)
if i were to share it to my friends it would be with credits, ofc (but a lot of them already know about your blog bc i cannot stop talking about it)
WHWHWHWH fr that sounds awesome go for it 👍

What's Mobby been listening to for the last few weeks straight? You didn't ask, but I'm gonna show you anyway —
Anyway, that's it. Just thought I'd share. 🤭 Just know that the author of your favorite fics (just go with it) is a die hard goth.

Also - I haven’t seen any discourse about this yet but I genuinely think that one of the saddest things about YR S2 is the destruction of Simon and Sara’s relationship?
They were constantly there for eachother in S1, they supported and loved eachother, and you can tell in the way that Simon sings her Happy Birthday and gives her a present in S2 that it still remains, but it all goes to shit in the end.
It’s even hard to look at Simon’s face after Sara confesses, because you know that after this, their relationship will never be the same, and it’s genuinely heartbreaking.

ok like. sorry i cant shut up about this rn but to explain it for my non-5Ds watchers out here, how cool this whole thing is, Z-one had maybe three (3) actually dubbed lines in the 5Ds’ dub. In like one episode. All of his most relevant episodes/the majority of his character content were waaay in the back chunk of 5Ds’ that 4kids straight up never dubbed. So he just barely exists properly in the dub. But now here comes Duel Links rolling up literally 10+ years later after this series wrapped, with FULL ENGLISH DUBBED VOICELINES for him, including lines based off of dialogue from those exclusively subbed episodes!!!! And They Absolutely Rule!!!!!! It’s just so ridiculously cool finally getting to hear what this character would have sounded like in the dub in a proper capacity. After over a decade!!! It’s like getting a whole second delicious cake YEARS after the party ended.
AND it’s all the same VA that voiced those 3ish lines in the dub originally all those years ago!! Marc Thompson truly absolute 4kids voice actor legend, this dude’s range is fucking incredible, and if theyd ever actually localized those last 20ish 5Ds episodes I know he would have knocked Z-one’s dialogue out of the park. HE CERTAINLY KNOCKED IT OUTTA THE PARK IN THIS FREEMIUM MOBILE TRADING CARD GAME FOR PHONE AND COMPUTER!!!
